Sony has announced two smartphones that are supposed to have a couple of the most advanced features ever installed in a smartphone. The two upcoming smartphone models are named the Xperia 1 Mark III and the Xperia 5 Mark III.

Sony claims to have installed advanced hardware in its new upcoming smartphones to offer unprecedented performance. The astounding features of the Sony Xperia 1 Mark III and the Xperia 5 Mark III are as follows.
The world’s first 4K 120Hz display in a smartphone
Sony has introduced the world’s first 4K 120Hz display in the Xperia 1 Mark III. The smartphone has a 6.5-inch 21:9 CinemaWide display. The Xperia 5 III will offer a 6.1-inch 21:9 HDR OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. According to Sony, both smartp[hones have a “uniquely immersive viewing experience”.
The 4K display on the Xperia 1 Mark III has a Creator Mode to reproduce hues matching to Sony’s high-end monitors. Both smartphones are equipped with 10-bit equivalent displays for rendering colours without banding.
The world’s first variable telephoto lens in a smartphone
Sony has also introduced the world’s first variable telephoto lens in the Xperia 1 Mark III. Sony has turned out to be the only company so far to offer a telephoto lens with an optically adjustable focal length. This feature will be accompanied by the Dual-Phase Detection sensor that will offer dual phase-detection autofocus ability.
The Sony Xperia 1 Mark III and the Xperia 5 Mark III can offer continuous autofocus with Real-time Eye-AF enabled on all the lenses. Moreover, Sony’s object tracking technology can lock onto the subjects and track them as they move.
Artificial Intelligence to measure distance and focus
The Sony Xperia 1 Mark III and the Xperia 5 Mark III utilise Artificial intelligence and 3D iToF (Time to Flight) sensor to calculate distance and focus on the subject. The AI performs these features even when the subject is hindered by an obstacle or moves away. The sensor provides the camera to autofocus at a whopping speed of up to 60 times per second. Moreover, it can shoot and save up to 20 frames per second without losing focus and colour quality.
Sony’s 360 Reality Audio in the smartphone
Sony has incorporated its renowned 360 Reality Audio into the speakers of the Xperia 1 Mark III and the Xperia 5 Mark III to offer a breathtaking listening experience. The speakers are located at the front to produce a dynamic sound field. The audio volume has also been tweaked to provide maximum output with distortion-free sound.

What are the expected prices of the upcoming Sony smartphones?
The Xperia 1 III will come in two colour variants, namely, Frosted Black and Frosted Purple. On the other hand, the Xperia 5 III will be available in Black and Green colours. The smartphones will run the Android 11 operating system. The prices of the two smartphones are yet to be revealed by the company.
