Two budget smartphones from Asus – Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the Asus ZenFone Max M2 – are finally receiving the much-awaited Android 9.0 Pie update in India after continuous delays. The Android Pie update for both the devices were to be rolled out in February, but at that time, the company had said that the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the Asus ZenFone Max M2 will be receiving their updates by April 15.
This time, the company has kept its word and released the Android Pie update for both the smartphones. The new update brings April’s security patch for the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the Asus ZenFone Max M2 along with other fixes and improvements over its earlier update. Although the users of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and ZenFone Max M2 will receive a notification about the update automatically, but if they haven’t, they might want to download the update manually.
On its official Indian forum, Asus announced about the rollout of the new update for ZenFone Max Pro M1 and ZenFone Max M2. The firmware version of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is v16.2017.1903.05 and it is 1.55GB in size. But the users who had already downloaded the Android Pie beta version will get an update size of 392MB. On the other hand, the firmware version for the Asus ZenFone Max M2 is v16.2018.1903.37.
Changelog of the new update states that the new update brings Android 9 Pie update along with a new security patch. But Asus hasn’t mentioned if the security patch April 2019’s or older. There are many users on the forum who are complaining about the download issue of the new update. Before downloading the update, a strong Wi-Fi connection is recommended so that the download is not interrupted or paused in between.
To download the update, the users need to go to the Settings of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the ZenFone Max M2, then they need to tap on System. Once there, they need to find the System Updates and tap on it. If the network is strong, the device will automatically begin searching and will download the new update. Once downloaded, the users will be notified about the completion of the download. To install the update, it is recommended that the users should keep the batteries of their devices more than 20% for an uninterrupted software update.
But if the user is unable to download the update it means that there is a bug in the update file which would be fixed by the company soon. Also, there is no word about the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2’s update but the Taiwanese electronic maker has promised the update before April 15.
