2023 was the year when Android tablets finally upped their game and narrowed the distance to their iPad counterparts. The ambitious OnePlus Pad left a lasting impression on us when we reviewed it last year. Xiaomi put out the affordable Pad 6, which garnered good reviews across the board. In a bid to squash any budding competition, Apple released its new set of iPads at its ‘Let Loose’ event last month. The specced-out iPad Pro demands a whopping Rs 1,00,000, but if you’re not concerned with ‘Pro’ features, the iPad Air would be up your alley. While the updates on the 2024 iPad Air may be small, they are significant nonetheless. We used the tablet for a week, here is our iPad Air (2024) review. iPad Air 2024 (13-inch) Review: Design and Display

Before we jump into the form factor of the tablet, let’s take a look at what you get inside the iPad Air retail box.

The four colour options on offer (Space Grey, Blue, Purple, and Starlight) are a bit underwhelming but a safe choice from Apple. A couple of vibrant shades among the pastel options would have been ideal. iPad Air 2024 (13-inch) Review: Design and Display Over the years, Apple has perfected the design of the iPad. The 2024 iPad Air may seem indistinguishable from its previous-gen counterpart, but that’s not a bad thing. Tablets serve a specific functional value and the iPad has the perfect form factor for it. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. However, there is one important tweak to this year’s iPad Air. The selfie camera has been moved to the longer bezel, which makes taking video calls in landscape orientation more natural. Interestingly, the selfie camera lacks Face ID tech, which is a bit of a letdown for an Apple product in this price range. design The aluminium back and frame exude strength and bring a premium feel to the device. The back panel has a matte finish but it is prone to smudges and fingerprints. The lone rear camera is positioned at the top left corner of the panel. Interestingly, the iPad Air is thicker (0.24 inches) than this year’s iPad Pro (0.20 inches), which makes us question what the ‘Air’ monicker means anymore. design The top landscape edge of the frame houses the volume rocker keys and a magnetic strip for docking the Apple Pencil. We used the Apple Pencil Pro with our iPad Air review unit and were quite pleased with the snappy locking mechanism and the ease of charging the drawing accessory. The side button, which also doubles up as the fingerprint sensor, is positioned on the left edge. The two portrait edges also house the speakers.  iPad Air 2024 (13-inch) Review: Design and Display One of the key things that differentiates the iPad Air from its Pro sibling is the display. The Air sports a 13-inch IPS LCD panel (also available in an 11-inch variant) while the Pro model rocks a superior OLED display. Having said that, the viewing experience on the iPad Air is exemplary. The blacks may not be as deep as an OLED panel but the image saturation and punchy colours elevate the media to the next level. Surrounding the display are thick bezels, which are a necessity on a tablet this size if you want to hold it without accidentally touching the screen.

The biggest highlight and the most important upgrade on the iPad Air 2024 is the M2 chip that lies at the heart of the device. The sheer power you have on your hands with the M2 chip is something that Android tablets cannot compete against (yet). On the Geekbench 6 app, the iPad Air scored 2,577 points in the single-core test and 9,872 points in the multicore test. iPad Air 2024 (13-inch) Review: Performance and Cameras We used the iPad Air for a multitude of tasks during the review period. Be it media streaming, social media browsing, video calling, or video editing, the M2 iPad Air crushes every task you throw at it. Now that the selfie camera is placed on the landscape bezel, the video feed on online meetings does not look off. The stereo speakers produce a powerful output that doesn’t make you feel the need to connect your AirPods or link an external speaker while consuming media. apple pencil For digital artists and graphic designers, the iPad is a no-brainer. Apple is reportedly working on its thinnest-ever models across its product lineup, aiming to set new industry standards for sleek, lightweight devices. Following the recent launch of the ultra-slim iPad Pro at their “Let Loose” event, the tech giant plans to extend this design philosophy to the iPhone 17, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch.

In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim are expected to come with 8GB of RAM and be powered by either the A18 or A19 Bionic chipset. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models could feature 12GB of RAM and run on the A19 Pro chipset. Additionally, the series is anticipated to have 24MP front-facing cameras, a significant upgrade from the current 12MP cameras on the iPhone 15 series.

Additionally, the gadget has two-way coaxial speakers. Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro was launched in India at Rs 17,999 in 2022. Right now on the Amazon India website, the TWS is priced at Rs 10,949. You can receive an additional discount of Rs 1,500 on the device by choosing to use an HDFC credit card to obtain a 12-month free EMI option. The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro now only costs Rs 9,449 after the discount. A new smartphone from Samsung’s F series, the Galaxy F55 5G, was just released. The majority of Samsung’s phones often have similar design elements. So, what’s new this time? The F55 is the company’s latest product, featuring a vegan leather finish for the first time, which is also the device’s main selling point. We’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy F55 5G as our primary smartphone for a while now, and can now share our complete review with you. Let’s see if the smartphone is worth picking up.

Samsung Galaxy F55 5G Review: Design and Display People’s attention will be drawn to this handset because of its striking appearance. This appears significantly different in the Samsung arsenal. It is the Apricot Vegan Leather that we are reviewing. A stitch-like pattern runs along the edges, showcasing the excellent craftsmanship. The mobile looks stunning and feels more upscale because of the vivid orange colour option. Although vegan leather is not a new feature in the smartphone market, this is Samsung’s first phone with it. While this leather finish is seen on some other Samsung competitors’ smartphones, this one stands out because of the distinctive saddle stitch pattern. It’s worth noting that the product is also available in Resin Black. Samsung Galaxy F55 5G Review: Design and Display Because the golden colour frame fits so well with the brilliant orange finish, the in-hand feel is also extremely premium. Since the sides are somewhat curved rather than flat, it is comfortable to hold in your hands. To further add to the opulent appearance, the rear panel features three protruding camera modules with golden rings. Additionally, the Samsung logo is visible at the bottom. It looks great, thanks to Samsung’s design. Review of Samsung Galaxy F55 5G At the bottom are a speaker grille, a microphone, and a USB Type-C port. A noise-cancelling microphone is located at the top, while a SIM card slot is placed on the left. The device’s power on/off button and volume controls can be found on the right side. You can use two nano SIM cards or one nano SIM and one micro SD card because the phone has a hybrid SIM card slot. Owing to its 86% screen-to-body ratio, the phone’s design provides a distinctive and high-end experience. The 6.7-inch full-HD+ sAMOLED Plus screen on the Samsung Galaxy F55 5G boasts a resolution of 2,400 x 1080 pixels. With Vision Booster, the display has a maximum brightness level of 1,000 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Samsung display is of excellent quality and has a very pleasant appearance. The adaptive brightness feature of the vision booster adjusts the screen’s brightness based on the surrounding conditions, ensuring optimal visual quality under all lighting scenarios. Review of Samsung Galaxy F55 5G As of right now, the screen appears to be well-balanced, bright and has good contrast. Outside visibility is only average. It would be challenging to see this screen in direct sunlight if it weren’t kept at its highest brightness.  On the flip side, the touch response is good, and the 120Hz refresh rate is smooth and hasn’t given us any jitters throughout testing. We had no trouble streaming Netflix and Prime video content on our phone. Full HD playback is supported on both of them. The device is Widevine L1 certified as well. Thus, Samsung phones offer the best multimedia experience. You will like this phone’s viewing experience whether you’re playing games, watching videos, or just tinkering with the screen. This phone’s dual speakers could have been of higher quality. They can go loud, of course, but when we turned the volume up to the maximum, we noticed some distortion. However, it is an old chipset with a high reputation in the industry for its performance and efficiency in mid-range devices. The processor can handle day-to-day tasks efficiently, especially when paired with Samsung’s user interface. The phone functions effectively when multitasking and manages lighter applications with ease. The phone has been optimised to store apps in memory for extended periods.  However, considering the price, gaming is just passable. Excessive multitasking had a negative impact. Additionally, the phone heats easily because of its slim form factor, particularly in the area around the camera module. You can play the most popular titles like COD, BGMI, and Asphalt; nevertheless, you’ll want to lower the settings for consistent gameplay without heating issues. Furthermore, we do not advise you to get this phone if you are a heavy gamer. Casual gaming? Then yes. Review of Samsung Galaxy F55 5G Samsung Galaxy F55 runs on One UI 6.0, which is built on Android 14. Four years of software updates and five years of security patches are guaranteed to be included with the phone. Through its Samsung Wallet app, Samsung is providing ticketing services in India in collaboration with Paytm. From the app, users can now book and save tickets for movies, events, buses, and flights. First-time booking discounts are also available through the app. It is limited to Samsung Galaxy phones, though. Additionally, the company intends to offer first-ticket booking discounts of up to Rs 1,150.
