How to create your Instagram avatar
Step 1: Go to your Instagram profile and tap on the hamburger menu at the top right corner of the screen. Select Settings.
Step 2: Go to ‘Account’ and then select ‘Avatar’.
This is where the fun part starts. You can fully customise your Avatar from the editor, much like the Snapchat ‘Bitmoji’. The editor lets you control every aspect of your Avatar like skin tone, eyes, hair colour, piercings, facial hair, and a lot more. Since there are a lot of options to choose from and a lot of combinations to try, this step will take some time.
Step 3: Scroll through the categories and pick the facial and bodily attributes you want for your Avatar. You can either make an Avatar that resembles you or be as imaginative as you want and create something totally different. Tapping on the mirror icon will turn on the front camera, making it easier to select the attributes that match your look.
Step 4: Once you’re finished creating your Avatar, tap on ‘Done’ at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 5: Select ‘Save Changes’.
Use your Avatar on Instagram stories
Now that you’ve made your Instagram Avatar, it’s time to share it with your friends. One of the ways you can do that is by using your Avatar in your Instagram stories. Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Go to your Instagram home page and tap on your profile icon at the top left corner of the screen.
Step 2: Take a picture or video for your Instagram Story.
Step 3: Tap on the ‘Stickers’ icon at the top menu and select ‘Avatar’.
Step 4: Choose one or multiple Avatar stickers from the list.
Step 5: Once you’re done, select the Arrow icon at the bottom left corner of the screen to upload the Story to your profile.
Send your Avatar sticker as a DM
There’s a lot more you can do with your Instagram Avatar. Instead of using regular emojis, you can use your personalised Avatar in your Instagram DMs. Just follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Go to your Direct Messages on Instagram and select a conversation.
Step 2: Tap the sticker icon on the text bar.
Step 3: Select ‘Avatar’ and pick from the collection of animations.
Step 4: Tap on any sticker to send it as a DM.
