Apple iPhone 8 and 8 plus now available in red colour, iPhone X just gets a red case

0
After last year’s red variants of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple has gone ahead and announced red colour versions of the latest iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The phones will start shipping in USA from April 13 with a starting price of $699 (roughly Rs 68,000). This refreshes the iPhone line-up mid-season, which should help boost sales of the less popular iPhone. The iPhone 8 and 8 plus got lukewarm reception when they were launched in Sept last year, thanks to its bigger brother the iPhone X. People all around the globe waited for the iPhone X and sales of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus suffered because of it. Now in a bid to push the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus sales (and also raise awareness), Apple has brought the new colour variants. The phones have a matte red aluminium finish and feature 64 GB and 256 GB storage options. The pre-orders of the smartphones start in the US from today, April 10. The basic aim (as Apple says it) is that the company wants to support and raise awareness to fight HIV AIDS in Africa. In the first phase the red version of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will sell in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and UK, besides USA. Sadly, India will need to wait for a little longer as May has been decided for the phones to come to this side of the globe. Disappointingly, there is no red version of the iPhone X available. Only a red leather case has been launched for the Apple iPhone X. We for one would have loved to see a red variant of the iPhone X. Oh well, maybe next year we might see a red version of the 2018 model of the Apple iPhone X.

How to delete your Facebook account forever or for sometime

After the Cambridge Analytica fiasco on Facebook, many feared their personal information has been leaked to other companies or misused in some form. Well, the leak was real and there is no legit way of understanding whose personal data has been used and sent to how many. The estimates go into millions and your precious personal data can be one of the many. If you fear your information has been harvested without your consent from Facebook and want to delete your FB account, or at least temporarily disable it (till the system becomes more secure), follow these steps:
  • Deactivate your account for some time
Doing so will temporarily disable your Facebook account and also at the same time eliminate your name from the things you have shared or tagged. To do so just click on the down arrow button on the top blue bar of Facebook on your desktop/laptop and scroll down to deactivate your account. The system will ask your password to confirm. You can again activate your account by logging on to www.facebook.com and keying in the user name and password.
  • Deleting the account forever
Had enough of the social media website? Don’t want your personal data to be leaked to anyone else. You can delete the FB account once and for all. Remember doing so will delete everything you ever stored or created on Facebook, including messages, videos and photos. You would need to visit Facebook’s account deletion page here and press delete my account. Some websites do say that it will take between 60-90 days for the servers to fully delete your data. However, once you click delete you will not be able to access it ever again. So tread carefully.

To power the 144Hz screen, the MSI GS65 Stealth thin gaming laptop is equipped a NVIDIA GTX 1070 graphic card. It also features the latest 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, which provides up to a 40 percent more performance over the previous generation. The GS65 Stealth Thin can be pre-ordered from Flipkart, Paytm, and authorized sellers at a starting price of Rs 1,69,990.

The second one in the line-up is GE Raider RGB Edition gaming notebook which was announced at CES this year. The GE63/73 Raider RGB Edition is inspired by sports cars and the PC Master Race’s love for RGB. It also supports the latest Intel 8th gen core i7 CPI and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics unit. The configuration is cooled by MSI Cooler Boost 5, a cooling system with dual fans and seven copper heats pipes. This gaming laptop will be available on pre-order at Flipkart, Paytm and all authorized sellers with a starting price of Rs 1,64,990.

Last in the new basket is MSI GT75 Titan with new 8th generation Intel core i9 Hexacore overclocked CPU. Together with NVIDIA graphics and mechanical keyboards, the new GT series pushes performance beyond its limits. Combined with MSI’s Cooler Boost Titan, the six-core 12-thread formation results in up to a seventy percent performance kick. The starting price of MSI GTI75 is Rs 2,99,990.

This is what the new OnePlus smartphone will be called, plus everything we know about its specs

After Apple, OnePlus is probably the only smartphone maker that has a cult following around the globe. The Chinese smartphone brand has made a name for itself in not just the Asian markets, but also the western world. The company is all set to launch its latest flagship mobile across the sphere in some time, however in the latest teaser the name has already been revealed. The new top of the line device will be called OnePlus 6. The video captioned “6et ready” was spotted on the official Twitter channel of OnePlus. Some of the phones specifications have also come to light on the web. OnePlus 6 will definitely have the notch, just like the one found on Apple iPhone X. OnePlus 6 will also feature a Qualcomm 845 SoC, Android 8.1 operating system and 128 GB (confirmed) storage. We are still unclear on the amount of RAM OnePlus 6 will get. The smartphone is also listed to get dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 ac. The screen will support FHD graphics and users should be able to play graphic intensive games with ease on this smartphone. Rumours are rife that the price of the OnePlus 6 might be kept around the Rs 40K mark. This could very well be the most expensive OnePlus smartphone launched in the country till date. We sure hope it stays below Rs 40,000, so that it continues to be great value for money option for consumers. OnePlus 5T was launched in two variants, namely 64GB and 128 GB. OnePlus 6 will also come in these two variations with another 256 GB version added to its kitty (revealed via a recent leak). We will keep you updated as more details get revealed about the OnePlus 6 in the coming weeks.

Nokia 6 3GB price slashed yet again, before the launch of 2018 model launch of Nokia 6

Price cuts are part and parcel of the mobile industry. Some smartphones get their price slashed within a month of launch and some after a quarter. Whatever the case maybe, a price cut is inevitable when it comes to smart devices. The latest to undergo a value tear is Nokia 6 3GB that now is available at Rs 12,999 from Rs 14,999 (previously) on Amazon India. The new price cut comes right before the expected launch of Nokia 6, 2018 version, to be held on April 4. When we talk about the specifications of the Nokia 6, it features a 5.5 FHD display with 2.5D curved Gorilla glass, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB on board memory. As for the cameras it sports a 16 MP rear shooter and a front 8 MP selfie camera. This smartphone also got the Android Oreo 8.0 update in the beginning of this year. To keep the phone alive for long, Nokia did install a 3,000 mAh battery inside it.

Freedom 251 Delivery Begins This May?

img_freedom251Remember Freedom 251–the smartphone which hogged the limelight in the local as well as global stage with its amazingly lower price tag soon after its launch first, and then got mired in legal battles and negative controversies? The phone is back in news again, but this time there is something positive to share about it. As per a Tech Radar India report, Ringing Bells, the Freedom 251 manufacturer, might deliver the first lot of its smartphones this May.

The news, so far, hasn’t been confirmed by the company yet. In fact, we also checked the company’s website but they haven’t shared any update even there. All that we could see over there was the ‘booking closed’ tab and ‘cash on delivery’ update, which was shared with us several weeks ago. We hope that the company immediately announces their stance on this news soon as May is just around the corner. If there is a bit of truth in these rumours, then it would be interesting to see whether Ringing Bells would be able to deliver the same set of features and looks as were depicted at the time of launch. The Freedom 251 smarphone should have the following specifications.
  • A 4-inch display
  • 3GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage, expandable by up to 32GB.
  • 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP selfie snapper.
  • 3G
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • Several pre-installed apps like Women Safety, Swachh Bharat, Farmer, Fishermen, Medical, Google Play, WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube
  • 1450mAh battery
  • Android Lolipop 5.1
It yet remains to be seen how Ringing Bells would offer such a device at this dirt-cheap price. Where would the company earn its profits from? Will it compromise on the quality of the phone or would it come up with some other business model? Let’s wait and watch.

Xiaomi Redmi Note3 And Mi 5 Flash Sale To End This 27th April

The Internet is abuzz with Xiaomi Mi 5 reviews, most of which are positive, the smartphone manufacturer has another set of interesting news for its Indian fans. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has decided to do away with the flash sale model for Redmi Note 3 and Mi5, phones that itlaunched in India this March, and has thus, announced that both of these devices would be up for open sale starting 27th April 2016 i.e. coming Wednesday. Xiaomi announced this news in a tweet through its official handle. Right now, we aren’t aware if this open sale would run only on Xiaomi’s official portal or if it would be hosted on all other online and offline platforms (as Hugo Barra had mentioned at the time of India launch), but we do know that both these devices hide decent hardware underneath its beautiful exterior. Priced at Rs 9,999 (for 2GB + 16GB) and Rs 11,999 (3GB+ 32GB), Redmi Note 3 comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD (1920×1080) display, an octa core Snapdragon 650 processor, a 16MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, 4,000 mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi Mi5, on the other hand, offers 5.15- inch FHD panel fused in an aluminum frame with ceramic/ 3D glass, a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU, 32GB of internal memory, 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor with PDAF and DTI for the primary camera with dual LED setup for a price of Rs 24,999. One must note that Xiaomi’s Mi5 is the same phone with which the company made a global appearance–outside China and India. It was launched at the Mobile World Congress 2016 and did manage to hog the limelight on the global stage. And currently, it is getting good reviews even in India. We too liked its specs and the looks, but can’t comment on its performance unless we get a chance to put the device on our test bed.
