The new Xiaomi Pad 8 carries a heftier price tag than its predecessor (our review here), but it also packs more power. Making the upgrade to a Snapdragon 8 series chipset has ensured that the tablet does not leave you hanging while performing heavy-duty tasks. It also comes with the standard pair of accessories, Focus Keyboard (Rs 8,999) and Focus Pen Pro (Rs 5,999), to maximise productivity. So, the question remains: Does Xiaomi’s midrange tablet retain its spot in the upper echelon of Android tablets? Find out in our Xiaomi Pad 8 review.
The Pad 8 follows the design language of its predecessor. Its flat aluminium back panel has a square camera island on the top-right corner and magnetic connectors on the top-left corner. The smooth finish keeps fingerprints and smudges at bay while offering a nice in-hand feel. Xiaomi has trimmed the thickness of the tablet to 5.8mm on the Nano Texture Display version and 5.75mm on the standard model. These variants weigh 494g and 485g, respectively.
The aluminium frame houses the volume rocker and the magnetic strip for docking and charging the stylus on its top edge. There are microphones on each end. The quad speaker is mounted on the side edges, sandwiching a microphone on the left edge and the USB-C port on the right edge. The side button is positioned on the top-left section of the frame. It is not integrated with a fingerprint sensor, which limits your unlock options to passcode and facial recognition.
The 11.2-inch IPS LCD panel has a 144Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 800 nits. The next-gen nano texture tech (available on the 12GB RAM model only) ensures that the display maintains clarity even under direct sunlight. The AR coating reduces screen reflectivity. We did not come across any legibility issues while using the tablet in outdoor daylight conditions. The smooth touch response was the icing on the cake.
During the review period, we used the Xiaomi Pad 8 as our primary media streaming device, watching content across major platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and JioHotstar. The 3.2K display did a splendid job of relaying detailed visuals with vibrant colours. With HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid support, this display offers the best visuals you can get out of an LCD panel. Of course, the shift in contrast is palpable when you switch from an AMOLED display, but in this price bracket, this is as good as it gets. The quad speaker setup produces a well-rounded audio output, but there’s room for improvement when it comes to clarity.
Xiaomi Pad 8 Review: Performance and Cameras
At the heart of the Xiaomi Pad 8 lies the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. The tablet comes in 2 RAM and storage variants:
8GB (LPDDR5X) + 128GB (UFS 3.1): Rs 33,999
12GB (LPDDR5T) + 256GB (UFS 4.1): Rs 36,999
We ran a couple of benchmark tests on the device. Here’s how it fared.
The 12GB + 256GB variant we used for this review went through routine tasks like a hot knife through butter. At no point did we feel the need for more power. Tasks like video calling, instant messaging, web browsing, and media streaming were handled expertly. Power-intensive tasks like video editing did not throw any issues either. Our only complaint when it comes to general usage is that the tablet does not have cellular connectivity.
With a powerful processor like Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, you can think about replacing your laptop with this tablet. For this, you will need to shell out an additional Rs 8,999 for the Focus Keyboard. Compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Pad 8’s keyboard attachment is a massive improvement. It seamlessly snaps onto the back of the tablet using magnetic connectors. The metal spine of the case lends it amazing strength and durability. Everything feels rock-solid, and there’s no wobble or unnecessary movement of any kind. The floating design of the case lets you adjust the angle of the tablet between 0°-124°. This is something you don’t get to see in folio cases for Android tablets too often.
The backlit keyboard adjusts its brightness according to the surrounding light. It is able to recreate a laptop-like feel with its 15mm keycaps, 18mm spacing, and 1.3mm travel. The typing experience is pretty good for a tablet keyboard. We did not feel the need to rush to our laptops while typing long emails and articles. It takes a while to get accustomed to a compact keyboard, but once you get in the swing of things, you won’t miss your laptop.
Xiaomi has ditched the ‘Spotlight’ button on the new Focus Pen Pro for a cleaner design. You can still access its functions using the pinch gesture. The haptic feedback produced by the pen for this gesture recreates the ‘press’ effect. In the Mi Canvas app, you can use the double-pinch gesture to switch tools, brushes, and colours. Sliding across the flat edge of the pen adjusts the brush size. Rotating the pen controls the stroke direction. Tapping the screen with the pen when the tablet is asleep launches the Mi Canvas app. The ultra-low latency and 16,384 pressure sensitivity levels make this stylus ideal for writing, doodling, and creating elaborate artworks.
Software duties on the Xiaomi Pad 8 are handled by the Android 16-based HyperOS 3. This software gets the most out of the canvas form factor. The handy Workstation mode, inspired by iPadOS, lets you open up multiple floating windows on the screen and switch back and forth among them. Swiping a window to either edge of the screen minimised it. There is a learning curve involved with this feature, but you can maximise your productivity by a significant factor once you get used to it. If you’re not a fan of this mode, you can stick to the old-school split-screen setup and watch a movie while going through your emails.
The Xiaomi HyperAI suite packs useful tools like AI Subtitles for video calls and meetings, AI Translate for face-to-face conversations, AI Speech Recognition for creating transcripts and summaries of recorded conversations, and more. The AI Creativity Assistant lets you edit your images, boost their details, and remove unwanted objects.
The Pad 8 packs a 9,200mAh battery under its hood. It lasts up to 1.5 days on regular to heavy usage. For casual users, this tablet can easily offer a 2-day battery life. The battery pack supports 45W wired charging. Using the 67W adapter provided in the box, it took us almost 2 hours to fully charge the tablet.
Cameras are usually an afterthought on tablets, but the Pad 8’s 13MP primary shooter captures good pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. These images pack good details and showcase natural colours. The 8MP front-facing camera takes clear selfies, but their quality depreciates significantly when you pixel peep. With that being said, this is still a great camera for video calling.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 has carved out a spot for itself among the top midrange tablets in today’s market. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset has rejuvenated its performance and turned it into one of the most versatile tablets out there. The nano-texture display, with its anti-reflective coating, makes outdoor use a breeze. The software experience remains top-notch with HyperOS 3’s clever optimisations and features. However, the game-changer for us is the Focus Keyboard attachment, which makes a valid case to replace your laptop with this tablet.
In India’s smartphone market, particularly in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment, manufacturers realise that offering good features alone isn’t enough anymore. They face a key choice: should they prioritise gaming performance or focus on creating devices that look premium and offer high quality? Infinix appears to choose the latter with its new Infinix Note Edge 5G. This device targets users seeking a luxurious experience with a long-lasting battery, specifically, two days on a single charge, rather than high-end gaming performance or advanced camera features like an ultra-wide lens. We tested the Infinix Note Edge 5G for over a week to see if it’s a reliable daily device or just a stylish distraction. Let’s explore the Infinix Note Edge 5G Review.
In This Article
Design and Display
From the moment you open the package, you can tell this isn’t your typical mid-range smartphone. It has the swagger of a Rs 50,000 flagship.
The Infinix Note Edge 5G stands out because of its high-end design. The Silk Green colour option, which has a fabric-like vegan leather texture, hides fingerprints well. The gadget has a very thin profile of just 7.2mm stuffed with a large 6,500mAh battery. It also has a well-balanced weight distribution, so it doesn’t seem top-heavy (185 g).
The Active Halo LED is one of its best features. It improves notifications and adds to the camera module’s beautiful look. The phone also has a 3D curved display, which makes it seem more like a flagship phone and makes side-swipe gestures work better.
However, there are some construction limitations since the gadget is largely made of plastic, which may reduce the premium touch when compared to metal build alternatives. While this plastic design improves drop resistance, it may make the gadget more vulnerable in certain conditions. Furthermore, the slender and curved edges, although visually appealing, may pose grip concerns, especially for those with bigger hands.
The visible symmetry of the bezels is a design flaw that makes them seem a little old-fashioned, particularly because the bottom chin is notably bigger, which takes away from the overall high-end look. The Infinix Note Edge 5G has an IP65 certification, which means it can handle some water exposure, but it shouldn’t be fully submerged.
The Silk Green model looks excellent, but since it is made of plastic and has a sleek design, you might consider protective covers that could conceal its attractive texture.
The Note Edge 5G has a different layout of ports and buttons than other modern smartphones, which are usually quite streamlined. The right side of the device has a volume rocker, a power button, and a customisable one-tap button that, by default, turns on the Folax AI assistant. But since this one-tap button is near the bottom right, it might sometimes result in unintended activations.
The buttons give you a tactile click feeling, although they are a little narrow. This is because the phone is thin, which restricts the depth of travel for each button. At the bottom of the device, there’s a USB Type-C connector, the main microphone, and a dual-SIM tray that accommodates two Nano SIM cards. Also, the smartphone doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone port or a MicroSD expansion slot, so users need to be careful about how they manage storage on the regular 128GB model. It also has NFC support for contactless payments, quick pairing, etc.
The top edge has an IR blaster, which lets users control TVs and air conditioners; however, this capability is becoming less common in newer models.
The Infinix Note Edge 5G features JBL-tuned stereo speakers on both the top and bottom, enhancing sound quality. While this configuration offers a balanced listening experience, the device’s slim design results in less robust bass, a common issue with thinner gadgets.
The optical in-display fingerprint sensor is placed low on the screen for a reason. This design makes it easy to operate quickly, but those with smaller hands could have trouble getting to it comfortably.
The Infinix Note Edge 5G boasts a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPS 3D curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,208 by 2,644 pixels. It supports a 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate for better responsiveness. Additionally, the screen can reach up to 4,500 nits of brightness, ensuring clear visibility even in direct sunlight. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which makes it resistant to scratches and impacts. The leather back and 3D curved front make it appear like a much more expensive flagship, but let’s see how it really works.
It has a very good visual performance, with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and a practical high-brightness setting that works well at 1,600 nits for outdoor use. The display has a resolution of 1.5K (1208 x 2644), which makes text and pictures clearer by having a density of 393 PPI. This feature makes any pixelation less noticeable.
Concerns include over-sharpened images causing halos in high contrast, palm rejection issues due to thin side rails, colour shifts at curved screen borders, especially on white backgrounds, and durability risks from the device’s curvature, which affects impact resistance and screen protector placement.
The display looks good and is bright, crisp, and smooth. However, it could not be satisfactory enough for cinephiles who want HDR content, and the Edge design could lead to accidental touches on the curved glass.
Performance and Cameras
The Infinix phone has a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 SoC, which lets it do regular everyday tasks like surfing and using social media well without significant lag in the user interface, owing to good software optimisation. The device’s UFS 2.2 storage system makes it possible for lighter apps like WhatsApp and the phone dialler to start up quickly.
XOS 16 has upgraded its animation system, providing smoother transitions with the 120Hz refresh rate. The Folax AI technology is also a notable feature, as it automatically learns users’ application usage patterns and pre-loads apps, enabling much quicker switching between them.
But you can run into specific issues, notably the 90Hz trap. This problem happens when third-party apps like YouTube revert to lower refresh rates of 90Hz or even 60Hz. This might cause stuttering when you switch from the system menu. Even though 8GB of RAM is usually plenty, aggressive RAM management is a concern since it makes background apps reload often when many heavy-duty apps are running. There may also be other performance issues, like lag in the notification shade, when you do things like stream music while using navigation apps. This might cause micro-lags due to the high demands placed on the system.
The phone has limitations in gaming, especially for demanding games like BGMI and Genshin Impact, which can only operate at Medium or Balanced settings and have consistent frame rates of 40-45 FPS. Trying to adjust the game to 60 FPS causes frame dropouts after around 25 minutes of play.
Otherwise, the Dimensity 7100 chip works well enough for everyday usage; however, gamers who play a lot in places without air conditioning may have problems since the slim design keeps heat in, as mentioned earlier. The Silk Green variant, which is made of vegan leather, may keep your hands cooler than those made of glass or metal.
The phone’s 7.2mm thickness impacts its heat dissipation, especially in extreme conditions. The chip performs well, maintaining stable temperatures during GPS and 5G streaming without major heat spikes. However, the slim design limits vapour chamber size, leading to heat buildup around the camera during light tasks like 4K video in high temperatures, a concern in Delhi NCR. Currently, the weather is favourable. In extreme heat, the phone may slow down by reducing screen brightness by 30-40% outdoors, which can be annoying in bright settings.
The Dimensity modem, paired with Infinix’s UPS 3.0 technology, provides better connectivity than certain premium Snapdragon models, even in difficult spaces like underground parking lots and metro tunnels.
The Infinix Note Edge 5G runs XOS 16, which is based on Android 16. The software experience is a mix of new features and old ones, including customisable settings and user-friendly interfaces that enhance usability. The gadget has a Glow Space Design that gives it a contemporary look with transparency and layered effects that make the user experience better. Users can highly customise their experience through innovative wallpaper effects and by adjusting icon sizes on the 6.78-inch display. One of the most useful features is the One-Tap and AI MindHub, which lets you instantly assign tasks to a side button for easy note-taking and content management.
The gadget also has a better update policy, guaranteeing three years of Android OS updates and five years of security fixes. This means that you will be able to use it for a longer time.
Despite these improvements, several significant issues remain that negatively impact the user experience. Bloatware, consisting of numerous pre-installed ads and unnecessary apps, reduces overall system efficiency. Additionally, excessive animation can hinder navigation speed and responsiveness.
We also experienced micro-stutters when multitasking, which made interactions choppy because it was difficult to manage multiple apps simultaneously.
Lastly, aggressive RAM management might cause background apps to close unexpectedly in order to keep animations running smoothly, ultimately affecting the usability of those apps. Despite its attempts at advanced software, the Infinix Note Edge 5G’s mid-range issues left us disappointed.
The Infinix Note Edge 5G has a big camera island, which makes it seem like it has multiple cameras. But the gadget is mostly just a single-camera experience. Let’s see how it works in the real world.
The 50MP primary sensor, with an aperture of f/1.8, works best in strong natural light. It captures images with a lot of detail and highlights the textures of different materials, including clothing and pet fur. The camera’s skin tone adjustments are now powered by improved artificial intelligence, making Indian skin tones look more realistic. This is a big improvement. The colours produced are warmer and brighter, but there may be concerns regarding their accuracy. Furthermore, the camera’s portrait mode has excellent edge detection, which makes it easy to create a convincing bokeh effect, even with a basic depth sensor.
Nevertheless, there are several limitations to consider. Firstly, the absence of an ultra-wide lens constrains its versatility, particularly concerning group photography and architectural photography. Secondly, the lack of optical image stabilisation (OIS) poses challenges in low-light conditions, as it may lead to blurry images caused by hand movement or shakes during capture. These factors raise concerns for users who emphasise these specific photographic techniques.
Images clicked from the rear camera
The 13MP selfie camera has improved dynamic range, managing backlit conditions without casting shadows on the subject’s face. It offers 2K video recording at 30fps, making it an ideal option for casual vlogging and high-quality video calls, especially for a front-facing camera in this price range. However, it has constraints, most notably a fixed-focus lens that might reduce clarity if the subject is too near or too far away; the best results are obtained when the subject is at arm’s length.
Normal vs portrait image
The trade-off between stability and resolution is at the core of the video performance issue. Although 2K shooting produces clearer video, the lack of electronic stabilisation (EIS) makes it vulnerable to severe camera wobble. On the other hand, recording at 1080p enables efficient EIS, producing smoother and more stable video at the expense of crisper detail since 1080p footage is considered softer and does not match the clarity associated with a 1.5K display.
The camera is an excellent option for social media fans since it is especially well-suited for those focusing on portrait and regular 1x photographs. However, the lack of optical image stabilisation (OIS) and an ultra-wide lens, which are often useful for such photographic styles, may frustrate travellers and enthusiasts of night photography.
rear camera portraits (24/35/50mm)
The Infinix Note Edge 5G is equipped with a robust 6,500mAh battery capacity. During testing, it demonstrated the ability to operate for two days with approximately 10 to 12 hours of screen usage per day, indicating its suitability for heavy daily use without requiring overnight charging. The device also features bypass charging functionality, allowing for direct charging while engaging in activities such as gaming. This feature helps prevent excessive heat build-up and potential damage to the battery.
But compared to other smartphone manufacturers, the charging speed is slow. It takes 27 to 30 minutes to get from 0% to 50%, and more than 75 to 80 minutes to fully charge.
Bluetooth 5.4 on the phone provides enhanced stability, consumes less power, and has a longer range. It has dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), but it doesn’t support Wi-Fi 6, which is a downside compared to other devices in the same price range that do. This means that it won’t work as well with high-speed routers.
Verdict
The Infinix Note Edge 5G combines premium design characteristics with exceptional battery life, with a 6,500mAh battery, a gorgeous Silk Green leather finish, and a 1.5K curved display. However, with mid-range specs and restricted camera options, it falls short of expectations in terms of performance. Buyers should consider it if they want a luxury aesthetic within a budget of Rs 25,000, need a brilliant screen for outdoor visibility, or are frustrated with battery life. Those looking for fast charging, ultra-wide camera capabilities for group photos, or competitive gamers who need high frame rates are advised to look elsewhere.

This grouping of sources into notebooks enables Gemini to create more exact and customised solutions by utilising its toolkit and online search capabilities, increasing the overall interactive experience.
Notebooks provide expanded access to numerous sources based on subscription options, allowing users to perform bigger tasks and carry out more elaborate projects. The combination of the Gemini app and NotebookLM allows for smooth synchronisation, guaranteeing that any sources added in one application are easily accessible in the other. Furthermore, users may benefit from the unique capabilities that each app provides; for example, NotebookLM has tools like Video Overviews and Infographics, which can be used regardless of the notebook’s origin.
One example of this feature is when a student takes class notes in a notebook, then uses NotebookLM to produce a Cinematic Video Overview, and then employs the Gemini app to generate an essay outline based on that information. This workflow exhibits the two applications’ adaptability and collaborative potential to assist academic pursuits.

WhatsApp’s username feature was previously reported to be under development, but it has now progressed beyond testing. According to the latest developments, the company plans to introduce the new functionality for users on both Android and iOS platforms, with the rollout currently limited to select users and occurring in phases. This feature aims to enhance user privacy by enabling the sharing of usernames instead of phone numbers. WhatsApp has previously communicated this functionality to business users, and it is likely to undergo a progressive rollout later this year, following months of development.
According to the most recent WaBetaInfo report, WhatsApp will make the username feature accessible to select users in the months to come. The interaction model based on usernames not only makes things more private, but it also encourages people to talk to each other without giving up their personal information.
Future profile settings will let users create usernames. This feature will be accessible for eligible users when it is rolled out. The procedure for making a username is meant to be easy and guided, so that people may follow it step by step. After users choose their usernames, they will be linked immediately to their accounts. This change lets people share their usernames instead of their phone numbers, which makes it easier to keep things secret.
Keep in mind that there are guidelines for WhatsApp usernames: they can’t start with “www” or end with popular top-level domains like “.com” or “.net”. Also, every username must have at least one letter in it; therefore, you can’t use solely digits or symbols. The accepted character set comprises lowercase letters (a–z), numerals (0–9), periods, and underscores.
Furthermore, usernames should be between 3 and 35 characters long. For the chosen username to be successfully claimed, it must be accessible not just on WhatsApp but also on other Meta platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Check ownership via the Accounts Centre if someone else is already using your desired username on Instagram or Facebook. This is where you can connect and manage accounts across Meta’s platforms. WhatsApp does not allow the use of a username that someone else has already used on Facebook or Instagram.
To improve privacy while utilising online platforms, explore the implications of linking usernames across multiple services. Using the same username on various sites might make it simpler for others to find or contact you, thereby jeopardising the user’s anonymity. Individuals who want to keep their online identities separate should use different usernames for each account.
Furthermore, an optional feature known as the username key may be enabled to improve privacy. This key is essential for making contact with new people and is required for all first-time interactions. The username key adds a layer of security by restricting messages to individuals who have both the username and the corresponding key, giving users more control over their conversations.
For example, on WhatsApp, users may search for others by merely entering their usernames, eliminating the need to give personal phone numbers for contact. If a username key has been assigned to a user, it is essential to enter this key to begin a secure chat. Furthermore, communication between accounts that use usernames is protected by end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the intended sender and receiver can read the messages.

Specifications, Features
The OnePlus Nord 6 has a 1.5K AMOLED screen that can refresh at 165Hz. In daytime, the Sunburst HDR mode may achieve a maximum brightness of 1800 nits, and individual pixels can reach 3600 nits, which ensures that the visuals are vivid even in direct sunshine. For nighttime usage, the display dims to 3840 Hz PWM to cut down on flicker to 2 nits, which helps lessen eye strain. Its Aqua Touch 2.0 technology makes it more responsive, even when your fingertips are wet or greasy. Crystal Guard Glass protects the screen and makes it resistant to drops and scratches, same as high-end Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+.
Along with IP66, IP68, and IP69K certifications, the device has also passed seven tough tests following MIL-STD-810H, including 25 drops from 1.5 metres onto steel surfaces without breaking.
Under the hood, there is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 CPU and Adreno 835 GPU in the Nord 6, providing it with excellent performance. In terms of software and AI capabilities, the Nord 6 runs on OxygenOS 16 with OnePlus AI and promises to get four major Android OS upgrades and six years of security fixes. It has a “Mind Space” function that is a personal intelligence centre. Users can keep articles, photographs, and ideas straight in this space with the Physical Plus Key. The gadget has an array of AI features, such as real-time translation for text, videos, and calls (including Hindi); an AI Ghostwriter; and AI Scan.
There is a dedicated touch reflex chip for instant response to taps, swipes, and flicks, achieving a touch sampling rate of 3200Hz. It includes a 6-axis gaming gyroscope for accurate aiming, similar to the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.
The Spatial Audio Booster also improves sound quality, letting players hear opponents from further away and letting them respond faster in competitive gameplay.
The dual rear camera setup includes a main 50-megapixel Sony Lytia camera that offers 2x zoom and dual-axis optical image stabilisation, which makes pictures clearer. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, ideal for taking pictures of bigger areas, is also included. The front camera on this gadget has 32 megapixels, which is great for taking selfies. The Nord 6 is great for video since it can record high-quality 4K video at 60 frames per second, which makes it easy to film action shots. It also has a one-of-a-kind 4K Motion Photo Clipper that lets users record audio and video clips that are three seconds long. Users can also export every individual frame as a high-resolution 4K still photo.
It has a strong 9,000mAh battery, which is the biggest battery in any OnePlus smartphone sold in India. The gadget can charge quickly via a wired connection at 80W SuperVOOC and 27W wired reverse charging.

India’s homegrown brand Ai+ brings the second iteration in its entry-level Pulse series at a time when smartphone manufacturers across the board are hiking prices due to rising input costs. The Ai+ Pulse 2 flaunts a large 6.7-inch HD+ display while running Android 16 right out of the box. You also get old-school features like expandable storage and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Priced at Rs 8,000, the smartphone looks like a good deal on paper. But are there any tradeoffs to be made? Find out in our Ai+ Pulse 2 review.
The flat form factor of the Ai+ Pulse 2 lends it a nice in-hand feel. The plastic back panel has a smooth finish, with a glossy strip running vertically along its length. The square camera panel has rounded corners and exudes an iPhone-like look. The smartphone comes in 5 colour options – Pink, Black, Blue, Purple, and Green.
The plastic frame houses the volume rocker and the side button on its right edge. The side button has an orange accent and doubles as the fingerprint sensor. The 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, USB-C port, and speaker grille are positioned on the bottom edge. The hybrid SIM tray makes its way to the left edge of the frame. It is integrated with a microSD card slot. The smartphone supports expandable storage up to 1TB. It is rated IP64 for dust and water resistance.
The 6.74-inch HD+ LCD panel has a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 450 nits in High Brightness Mode. We found ourselves shielding it under harsh outdoor lighting conditions to make out the contents of the screen. However, it did not have any problems maintaining legibility indoors. The chunky bezels around the display get thicker at the bottom. The front-facing camera is placed in a waterdrop notch on the display. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side key. It is snappy and accurate.
We used the Ai+ Pulse 2 to stream movie and TV titles across OTT apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and JioHotstar. The 720 x 1,600p LCD panel produced decent visuals packed with vibrant colours. While it lacked the punchy contrast of its AMOLED counterparts, it was able to curate a good viewing experience. The audio output produced by the bottom-firing speaker is boxy and rough, but that’s something we expect from entry-level smartphones.
The Pulse 2 is able to handle routine tasks like calling, instant messaging, web browsing, and media streaming. Using social media apps like Facebook and Instagram does not present any problems. The slow storage configuration impedes the loading time of apps, but there aren’t any speed bumps once they’re running in full swing. The lack of 5G connectivity is the biggest drawback of this phone. If you’re fine with that tradeoff, the general performance will not leave any room for complaints.
A good gaming performance is a big ask for an entry-level mobile processor like Unisoc T7250, but you can run games like Candy Crush and Block Blast without any massive performance issues. The mediocre touch response of the display kept us from enjoying FPS games.
The Ai+ Pulse 2 offers a splendid software experience for an entry-level phone. For starters, it runs Android 16 out of the box at a time when most budget phones are still shipping with Android 15. Ai+’s custom nxtQ OS does not add any bloatware or invasive ads, something that is unheard of in this segment. What you get is a clean software experience right out of the box.
nxtQ OS takes design inspiration from ColorOS/OxygenOS. Its vibrant interface feels fun. We like that there are custom icons for popular apps. The native wallpaper library has a lot of exciting options. The wallpaper carousel periodically changes the lock screen and home screen wallpapers without lacing the interface with invasive ads. You also get a handy NxtPrivacy dashboard that lets you know whether any apps are tracking you or accessing certain permissions.
The 6,000mAh Li-Po battery pack offers a 1-day battery life even with heavy usage. On days with 6-7 hours of screen time, we were left with ~15% charge in the tank before bed. If you’re more conservative with your usage, you can push the battery life to 2 days. The battery pack supports 18W wired charging, but the smartphone ships with a 10W power adapter. It took us over 2 hours to fully charge the device.
The rear camera array comprises a 50MP primary shooter and a 0.8MP auxiliary lens. The waterdrop notch on the display houses an 8MP front-facing camera. The 50MP primary shooter takes decent shots in outdoor lighting conditions. The images are vibrant and ‘social media ready’, but feel a tad overexposed. There is a visible softness to them, but that’s something to be expected from a smartphone in this price bracket. Images taken in limited lighting conditions are dim and grainy, and the Night Mode doesn’t do a lot to salvage the situation.
Without Night Mode v Night Mode
Portraits taken by the primary shooter are clear and well-focused. The smartphone applies a hint of background blur to these shots. The front-facing 8MP lens takes decent selfies, but softness remains a pertinent issue on this camera as well. Both cameras can record 1,080p footage at 30fps.
The Ai+ Pulse 2 puts up a solid performance day in and day out, making it a worthy daily driver. It handles routine tasks without throwing any lag or hiccups. The 6.74-inch display is optimum for consuming content across different OTT apps. The clean, bloatware-free software experience offered by nxtQ OS is the highlight of this device. While the Rs 8,000 price tag for this phone makes it a steal in today’s market, it does come at the cost of sacrificing 5G connectivity.
Google has integrated its Gemini models with the Shopping Graph, which includes well over 50 billion products, to provide AI-powered shopping to India. AI Mode in Search and Circle to Search are two important features that make it easy to go from getting ideas to making a purchase. People may use the Gemini app to look for ideas, the Search app to ask questions in chats, and the Images app to find products. All of them work together to provide users more information, comparisons, and purchasing options.
The company, via blog post, said, “We’re making it easier than ever to find exactly what you need, with tools that bring together our Gemini models and Google’s Shopping Graph, our dataset of more than 50 billion of the world’s products, 2 billion of which are updated every hour. Last year, we launched our Virtual Try-On tool in India, and we’ve been excited to see how it’s made shopping easier for users by helping them virtually try apparel listings on themselves. With updates across Gemini, AI Mode, and Circle to Search, we’re bringing our most advanced AI tools to help users in India shop with more confidence and less effort.”
The Gemini app has added new shopping features to improve the user experience. These features include product listings and comparison tables that can be shopped for immediately within chats. The Shopping Graph lets users see pricing from many websites and look at different ways to purchase things in real time. This purchasing experience is now accessible in both Hindi and English.
The new improvement to AI Mode shopping in Search in India makes the shopping experience much better by making it more conversational and frictionless. This improvement does away with the need for long filtering and keyword selection, making it easier for users to find what they’re looking for. AI Mode is great at organising responses because it uses rich visuals and plenty of information, such as prices, user ratings, and available inventory for products.
This update adds new features, including shoppable images that give you visual and comparison tables that let you look at many products at once. These changes are strategically designed to help people make fast and confident decisions about what to buy. Right now, the AI Mode shopping option is only accessible in English, but plans are in the works to make it available in Hindi as well.
The Circle to Search feature has been greatly enhanced for the Pixel 10 and Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphones. Now, users may look at more than one thing in a picture at the same time. This tool is great for getting a lot of information about different things that are shown on an Android device, especially in the fashion sector. By simply tapping, scribbling, or circling certain parts of a picture, users may quickly find certain parts of outfits shown on social media.
Once an area has been marked, Circle to Search accurately identifies every part of the outfit, enabling users to find similar products that might inspire their purchase or style options. This feature contributes significantly to better educated and personalised fashion choices by improving the user’s ability to interact with photos and get information quickly.
