Confirmed: Samsung to soon fix camera blur issue on the Galaxy S23 and S23+

Earlier this year Samsung Galaxy S23 was launched in India and globally. Few months after the release the users have complained that the cameras blur when taking close-up photos. Samsung has now acknowledged the problem on its community page for Europe. A software upgrade will soon address this issue. Samsung has also provided an explanation of the problem’s origin and a solution to stop the blurring via its Community page for Europe. While acknowledging the issue the company said that the close-up images from the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ appear a little hazy around the subject, which is said to be mainly because both the phones have a bright aperture, which helps when taking photos in the dark. However, this also means that more noticeable selective focus can make the background of your photos look a bit blurry. According to Samsung, a software update will be rolled out to resolve the problem. In the meantime, if you are experiencing this on your Samsung Galaxy S23 or S23+, there are a few solutions you can try:
  • Try taking a picture from a bit further away; if the subject you are photographing is about 30 cm away, move back a hand’s width
  • Try to take a photo holding the phone vertically; if you hold the phone horizontally or diagonally, the background may appear blurred.
As per the South Korean giant, “If you use the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to take a close-up photo, the camera will automatically switch to the wide-angle camera and activate the focus booster to prevent blur. However, if you are using high-res mode, the focus enhancer is not supported, which may make the background of the close-up blurry.” Recently Samsung introduced the Galaxy S23 in Lime colour options. The device was first launched in three colour options of Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender. The phone in new colour options will come in two storage options – 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage– and will be priced at Rs 74999 and Rs 79999, respectively. There is no change in the specification which includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform. The triple rear camera on the phone includes a 50MP primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS & 3X optical zoom. Galaxy S23 features a 12MP front-facing camera with Super HDR technology.
