Before you begin posting on Facebook, it is crucial to understand how its privacy settings work. By default, the things you post on Facebook are public and can be viewed by anyone on the platform. If someone has a link to your post, they can view it without needing to create a Facebook profile. You can choose to make your Facebook profile private if you only want your friends to see what you post. Check out these two quick ways to do that.
There are two ways you can go about ensuring your privacy on Facebook. Locking your profile is the simplest way to make sure that no one but your friends can view your posts, photos, videos, and other content on your profile. When someone who isn’t your friend on Facebook visits your profile, they will see a blank timeline. While your profile picture will be visible to the user, they will not be able to maximise it.
Using ‘Audience settings’ in the Privacy Centre, you can further limit who gets access to the content on your profile. You can create custom lists to limit your audience to a few chosen friends. You can also choose to keep information like your email, birth date, friend list, and more hidden from everyone else.
Make your Facebook profile private using the mobile app
Step 1:Launch the Facebook app on your smartphone.
Step 2: Hit the hamburger menu icon at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Tap on your profile name.
Step 4: Hit the ellipses next to Edit profile.
Step 5: Tap on Lock profile.
Step 6: Select Lock your profile.
Make your Facebook profile private on PC
Step 1:Open Facebook on your PC’s web browser.
Step 2: Hit the profile picture icon next to the status bar.
Step 3: Tap the ellipses next to More.
Step 4: Click on Lock profile.
Step 5: Select Lock your profile.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I lock my Facebook profile?
Go to your Facebook profile on the mobile app or PC, hit the ellipses near ‘Edit profile’, select ‘Lock profile’, then click on ‘Lock your profile’.
What does locking a Facebook profile do?
Locking your Facebook profile makes it private and limits the visibility of your posts, videos, photos, and other content to the people in your friend list. People who are not your friends on Facebook will not be able to view your posts.
This is how you can make your Facebook profile private on PC and mobile. Once your profile is private, only the people in your friend list will be able to view your posts. The production quality of even the most basic YouTube videos has grown significantly in the last few years. Creators are very particular about the soundtrack they use for their videos and the manner in which it is edited to draw out the desired response. Since most music is copyrighted, creators rely on royalty-free resources to get access to music that won’t get their videos copystriked. If you come across a catchy song in a video, it can be tricky to identify it right away. So here are the top 3 ways to identify songs in YouTube videos.
The standard song identification techniques work for YouTube videos as well. These include asking your phone’s voice assistant (Siri, Bixby, or Google Assistant) to listen to a part of the song and ID it or going the third-party route by using apps like SoundHound and Shazam. If you can make out the lyrics to the song, you can Google them to find the song title and artist.
If these methods don’t work, you can always seek the help of other viewers in the comments. If that leads to a dead end, try contacting the creator for help. You can also perform a search for the video on Reddit and see if anyone else found the answer to the query before you.
Check the video description
The easiest way to find the song played in the background of the YouTube video is by checking the video description. The description is where creators often post the credits to the music they use in the video. If the music is copyrighted, the description may contain a link to its source. You can also find the royalty-free music from YouTube Audio Libray used in the video by checking its description. The ‘music’ section is typically at the end of the video description.
Step 2:Play the YouTube video which contains the song you want to identify.
Step 3: Hit the puzzle icon next to the address bar and click on the AHA Music extension.
Step 4:Browse to the part of the video with the song in the background. AHA Music will take some time to identify the song.
Step 5: Once the song has been identified, its title and artist will appear in the extension’s box. Click on the song to view its streaming options.
Identify the song using Google Assistant
If you can’t find the name of the song in the video description, use a third-party app like Shazam and SoundHound to identify it. You can even use Google Assistant for this task.
Step 1: Say “Hey Google, which song is this?”
Step 2:Play the part of the YouTube video where the song is used.
Step 3: Google will produce the likely matches.
You can also use this feature by going to the Google app and selecting ‘Identify Song By Listening’.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I identify songs in YouTube videos?
Check the video description or use services like AHA Music, Google Assistant, Shazam, and SoundHound to identify the song in the background of a music video.

YouTube Audio Library is the best source of royalty-free songs for your YouTube videos. You can also use resources like Storyblocks, Free Music Archive, and Audiojungle for royalty-free music.

Genius, Musixmatch, and AZLyrics are the best websites to find song lyrics.

User comments are an integral part of public discourse on YouTube. If you notice that a video or ‘Short’ doesn’t allow user comments it is likely because the creator has disabled them on purpose. Videos that are made for kids do not support comments either. It is pretty rare for comments to be disabled throughout the app, but it is known to happen. So, let’s take a look at the top 7 ways to fix the ‘can’t view comments on YouTube Shorts’ issue.
If you’re unable to view or access comments on YouTube Shorts, it could be due to one of the following reasons.
The creator has disabled comments on the video
The video is made for kids
Restricted Mode is enabled on your YouTube app
YouTube’s app cache is corrupted
Your internet connection is faulty
You are using an old, bug-ridden version of YouTube
Disable Restricted Mode
Turning on Restricted Mode in the YouTube app hides mature videos and disables comments across the app. This setting only applies to your device and not your account. Here’s how you can turn it off.
Step 1: Launch the YouTube app on your phone and tap your profile picture at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Hit the cog wheel icon at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Tap on General.
Step 4: Scroll down and turn off the toggle switch for Restricted Mode.
Clear YouTube’s cache
Step 1: Go to Settings and select Apps.
Step 2: Tap on YouTube.
Step 3: Select Storage.
Step 4: Tap on Clear cache.
Update the YouTube app
If you’re using an old version of YouTube on your smartphone, chances are that it isn’t showing comments due to a bug-related issue. This can be fixed by simply updating the YouTube app. Go to the Google Play Store, search for YouTube, open the app’s page, and hit ‘Update’. Similarly, if you first encountered the problem after updating the app, uninstall the new update and reinstall it from the app’s page on the Play Store.
Check if the content is age-appropriate
Content that’s made for kids does not have a comment section on YouTube. This includes YouTube Shorts. If you’re unable to view comments on a Shorts video from a channel that exclusively makes content for children, it is by design.
Check if comments are disabled for the video
Creators on YouTube have the option to turn off comments for their videos and shorts. If you notice that the video says ‘Comments are disabled’, there is nothing much you can do. If the comment section is disabled due to Restricted Mode, it will explicitly say so. To make sure this is not the case, open a random YouTube video or short and check if you’re able to view the comments. If you can access the comments on all videos but one, it is likely that the creator has disabled them on that particular piece of content.
Use the web browser on your phone
If a bug on the YouTube app is keeping you from viewing comments in Shorts, switch to the web browser. Launch Chrome on your smartphone, go to YouTube, and switch to the Shorts tab. The viewing experience on a web browser is identical to the YouTube app. You can easily browse Shorts by swiping up and down. Tapping the conversation cloud icon will reveal the comments.
Disable browser extensions
If you’re unable to see YouTube Shorts comments on your PC, try disabling any YouTube-related extensions on your web browser. The usual suspects in this case are video downloading and ad-blocking extensions. Click the puzzle piece icon next to the address bar on Google Chrome, hit the ellipses next to the extension, and select ‘Remove from Chrome’.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why can’t I view comments on YouTube?
YouTube restricts comments in videos made for kids. Creators on YouTube are allowed to disable comments on their videos as well. On top of that, turning on Restricted Mode disables comments across all YouTube videos and Shorts.
How do I disable Restricted Mode on YouTube?
Launch the YouTube app, go to Profile>Settings>General and turn off the toggle switch for Restricted Mode.
Is there a YouTube Lite app?
YouTube does not have a Lite app yet. However, you can download YouTube for Kids if you want to make sure the content on your feed is age-appropriate for children.
How do I get the desktop version of YouTube on my smartphone?
Launch Chrome, go to YouTube, tap the ellipses in the top-right corner of the screen, and select ‘Desktop site’.
How do I download YouTube Shorts on my Android phone?
This is how you can fix the ‘can’t view YouTube Shorts comments’ issue. While you’re here, check out how you can use Hum to Search to find a song on YouTube Music. If you know of any other ways to resolve the comments issue, let us know in the comments!

Every year, Vivo puts out two V Series smartphones that set the benchmark for photography in midrange smartphones. Earlier this year, we reviewed the V30 Pro and were impressed not just by its camera system but also by its sleek form factor and clean design. The newly launched V40 Pro makes slight tweaks to the design but carries forward the ‘camera expert’ reputation. The smartphone is currently priced at Rs 50,000. We used it as our daily driver for a week to test every aspect of its performance. Here is our comprehensive review of the Vivo V40 Pro.
Here’s what you get inside Vivo V40 Pro’s retail box:
Smartphone
Power adapter
USB Type-A to Type-C cable
Clear plastic case
SIM ejector
Quick start guide
Warranty card
The Vivo V40 Pro is available in two colours/finishes – Titanium Grey (matte) and Ganges Blue (glossy). We got our hands on the latter variant. It features the familiar 3D pattern that we’re used to seeing on Vivo’s smartphone. On the V40 Pro, the pattern resembles the waviness of a river, earning it the ‘Ganges Blue’ name. Even though this back panel has a glossy finish, it does not attract a lot of fingerprints. It is curved around the edges, making it easy to grip.
The big design change on the Vivo V40 Pro lies in the camera panel. The rectangular array on the V30 Pro has been replaced with a circular unit with a cylindrical extension. The circular cutout houses the primary sensor and the ultrawide lens. The attachment at the bottom of this cutout houses the telephoto lens and the ring LED flash. It gives the entire array a cylindrical shape. The LED flash, or the ‘Aura’ light, is smaller than its V30 Pro’s counterpart. The latter had a squarish shape and housed a smaller LED flash within its perimeter.
Overall, we like the design of the V40 Pro although the V30 Pro looked smarter and more refined. However, design preference is subjective and it is nice to see manufacturers shake things up every year. In terms of dimensions, the V40 Pro stands at 164.3mm x 75.1mm x 7.5mm. This is similar to its previous avatar. The curved frame of the smartphone houses the volume rocker keys and the side button on its right edge and the SIM tray, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and speaker grille on the bottom edge. The secondary microphone is positioned on the top edge. The earpiece also doubles up as the secondary speaker.
The 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display has a 120Hz display and can reach a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. There’s support for HDR10+ onboard. The touch response is smooth and the smartphone is able to eliminate any accidental touches to the curved section of the display.
We streamed several titles on platforms like Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Prime Video. The vibrant colours and detailed images produced by the display elevated the viewing experience. The audio output was satisfactory, although we would have liked a more pronounced low end.
One of the bigger upgrades on the Vivo V40 Pro is IP68 protection. Its predecessor had an IP54 rating. You can whip out this smartphone in heavy rainfall and not worry about any water damage. It can survive being submerged up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.
Vivo V40 Pro Review: Performance and Cameras
Powering the Vivo V40 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset. This chipset sits just below the flagship Dimenity 9300 in MediaTek’s hierarchy of SoCs. There are two RAM + Storage variants on offer – 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. We ran the Geekbench 6 test on the smartphone and it garnered a single-core score of 1,789 points and a multi-core score of 4,961 points.
We used our review unit of the Vivo V40 Pro for everyday tasks like video calling, social media browsing, emailing, media streaming, and more. The smartphone handled whatever we threw at it. We did not encounter any lags or annoying stutters. We launched a dozen apps in the background to see if it caused the smartphone to slow down, but the device handled them expertly without any noticeable drop in speed. The apps loaded instantly and the overall usage experience was as smooth as it gets on a smartphone.
We played gaming titles like Call of Duty and Asphalt Legends Unite on the Vivo V40 Pro and were satisfied with its performance. The gaming experience is not the best in this category, but for a camera-centric smartphone, the V40 Pro does an excellent job of delivering a consistent performance. On medium graphics, we did not experience any frame drops or unwanted lags. The smoothness and touch response was excellent. The VC Smart Cooling System inside the smartphone did a great job of dissipating the heat. We were able to play games on this device for an hour straight without feeling any significant heat on the back panel.
The Android 14-based Funtouch 14 is not our favourite mobile OS, but it offers a decent software experience. There are a handful of bloatware apps on the device, which is not a good sign when you’re paying Rs 50,000 for it. Funtouch OS’ strongest suit is its customisation options. You can change the AOD skin, fingerprint icon design, charging animation, USB insertion animation, home screen transitions, and ambient lighting on the device. The latest iteration of the OS has AI editing features that let you erase objects and ‘Beautify’ your pictures.
The V40 Pro packs a massive 5,500 mAh battery pack. On a full charge, the smartphone lasts an entire day with ease. During the review period, we were able to squeeze a steady screen on time of 7 hours on the Vivo V40 Pro. Even after performing several power-intensive tasks and streaming media for multiple hours, the smartphone did not run out of juice sooner than expected. The V40 Pro supports 80W charging and we were able to replenish its battery in 40 minutes.
V40 Pro’s biggest highlight is undoubtedly its exquisite camera system. Every camera on this smartphone utilises a 50MP sensor. It is also one of the few midrange smartphones to feature a telephoto lens in its rear camera array. This telephoto lens now features OIS as well. The V40 Pro’s camera system is tuned by Zeiss.
The 50MP Sony IMX921 primary shooter delivers an exceptional performance in every lighting condition. In daylight conditions, the images taken with this camera showcased vibrant and punchy colours with good dynamic range and amazing contrast. We were pleased by the level of detail that this sensor was able to capture. There are three colour profiles to choose from – Vivid, Textured, and Zeiss Natural.
Primary Shooter: Without Night Mode vs With Night ModePrimary Shooter in Night Mode
In limited lighting conditions, the primary shooter did a great job of brightening the subject and assigning it accurate colours. We were impressed with the way the smartphone exposed the sky. The images taken in Night Mode have minimal grain. Vivo’s photo processing engine paired with its high-end sensor produces excellent results in limited lighting.
Ultrawide ShotUltrawide Shot
The 50MP ultrawide sensor does not miss a beat and replicates the primary camera’s performance in outdoor daylight conditions. We’re used to seeing a colour shift while using the ultrawide camera on most midrange smartphones but that is not the case here. The colours produced by this sensory are just as deep, vibrant, and rich as the primary shooter. This could possibly be the best ultrawide sensor in this price range, given how it even manages to keep the sharpness intact.
Ultrawide lens: Without Night Mode vs With Night ModeUltrawide Night Shot
In limited lighting conditions, the ultrawide sensor does well to illuminate the images and assign the proper colours to the scene. The versatility of this ultrawide sensor earns a brownie point from us. As good as other ultrawide sensors in this price range may be, they fail to replicate the colour balance and brightness of the V40 Pro.
1x vs 2x zoom10x vs 50x zoom
The 50MP Sony IMX816 telephoto lens offers 2x optical zoom. This telephoto lens means business and isn’t just present to fill up an entry on the spec sheet. We were very happy with the image composition after 10x zoom. Even with the maximum 50x zoom in effect, the smartphone was able to resolve the text on far-away billboards.
Portrait Shots: 24mm vs 35mmPortrait Shots: 85mm vs 100mm
Portrait shots taken with the Vivo V40 Pro are a cut above the rest. The smartphone intelligently separates the object from the background and applies a good amount of background blur. You can take portrait shots in 5 focal lengths – 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm. The 50MP selfie camera also puts up a solid display, replicating accurate skin tones and keeping the skin smoothening effects to a minimum.
The Vivo V40 Pro is the best midrange camera smartphone out there right now. Its well-rounded camera performance sets the benchmark for other midrange smartphones. The primary shooter can easily hang with the flagships. The ultrawide sensor isn’t too far behind as it replicates the colour accuracy and sharpness of the primary camera. When most midrange phones have to contend with a macro lens, the telephoto camera on the V40 Pro puts up a splendid display. The MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor at the heart of this smartphone ensures that it handles power-intensive tasks without any hassle. The build and form factor of the device has the ‘premium’ touch. Overall, the Vivo V40 Pro is an amazing deal at Rs 50,000.

Google’s native camera app has had an ‘Astrophotography Mode’ for a few years now. This mode kicks in automatically in Night Sight when you place your Pixel on a tripod and point it at the night sky. In the latest version of its Camera app, Google now allows users to enable this mode manually and set the exposure duration. If you haven’t got this version on your phone yet, you can sideload its bundle from a third-party Android app marketplace. Here’s how you can enable the manual Astrophotography Mode in your Google Pixel’s camera app.
The Astrophotography Mode in your Google Pixel’s camera app is designed to take pictures of the night sky. Of course, the results aren’t as detailed as the pictures taken from a DSLR, but for a smartphone, this is as good as it gets for now. To get the best out of this mode, you need to keep a few things in mind.
First, you need to mount your Pixel on a tripod or rest it on a stable surface. This is done to make sure no aberrations are caused to the image due to hand movement. While taking images of the night sky, you also need to ensure that there is minimal artificial lighting around the camera. Bright lights can cause the images to come out too bright when the phone is taking long exposure shots. Ideally, you want to capture the night sky in its natural state. Set the exposure time to its maximum level (in Pixel’s case, this is 4 minutes) and place it in a place with very little light pollution.
Enable Astrophotography Mode on your Google Pixel
Step 1: Make sure the Camera app on your Google Pixel smartphone is updated to its latest version.
Step 2: Select Night Sight.
Step 3: Tap the gear icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Step 4: Turn on Astrophography mode.
Step 5: Hit the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 6: Drag the slider to its maximum limit (Astro).
Step 7: Hit the Shutter icon.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I enable the manual Astrophotography Mode on my Google Pixel smartphone?
Update your phone’s Camera to v9.5.118. Launch the app and go to Night Sight quick settings. Select Astrophotography mode and switch to the manual tab.
Do I need a tripod to take pictures in Astrophotography Mode?
You don’t need a tripod stand to take pictures in Astrophotography Mode anymore. You can simply rest your Pixel smartphone on a stable surface and shoot images of the night sky.
What is the longest exposure duration in Google Pixel’s Astrophotography Mode?
The Camera app in Google Pixel takes 4-minute exposure shots in Astrophotography Mode. The camera takes 16 images with a 16-second exposure and merges them all together into a single photograph.
This is how you can enable the manual Astrophotography Mode in your Google Pixel’s camera app. If you cannot find this setting in the camera app, make sure it is updated to the latest version. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments!
Over the last few years, the wireless earbuds market has grown tremendously in India. Features like spatial audio, multi-point connection, and Active Noise Cancellation, which were previously associated with premium products, are now available with budget offerings. If you travel frequently, you should certainly look into a TWS product with good ANC chops. This can help you relax during your commute by filtering the surrounding noise. So, let’s take a look at the best wireless earbuds with ANC under Rs 10,000 in India right now.
Launched alongside the OnePlus 12, the OnePlus Buds 3 pack a lot of exciting features at a very reasonable price. Delivering the sonic output on these earbuds are dual dynamic drivers. These drivers comprise a 10.4mm woofer and a 6mm tweeter. The TWS supports LHDC 2.0 codec and HiRes audio. As far as ANC goes, the Buds 3 TWS can cancel up to 49dB of surrounding noise within a range of 4000Hz. Through adaptive noise cancellation, the earbuds map the shape of your ear canals and keep the music flowing while cancelling out the external noise. We reviewed the OnePlus Buds 3 as soon as they launched and were very impressed with the quality of ANC they possessed.
An affordable alternative to the Nothing Ear, the Ear (a) offers a good soundstage and even better ANC. Its case and earbud stem follow Nothing’s signature see-through design language. The upper panel of the earbud brings a splash of colour to the TWS. The Nothing Ear (a) flaunts an 11mm driver which delivers a thumping audio output. The earbuds can cancel up to 45dB of surrounding noise. This means you can put on these earbuds to neutralise the sound of the ceiling fan, AC, and the general humdrum in your room. Check out our review of the TWS.
Sony’s best TWS offering under Rs 10,000 is the CF-700N. These earbuds have a unique stemless design. If you’re not a fan of accidentally triggering the touch controls on wireless earbuds, you will like CF-700N’s physical controls. The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) and the dynamic drivers on these earbuds create a rich soundstage for the listener. The Active Noise Cancellation skills of this TWS are pretty good. You can neutralise the ambient noises in your home and traffic noises when you’re outside. Read our review of the Sony CF-700N here.
The LG Tone Free Fit TWS sports an aesthetically pleasing dual-tone colour scheme for the charging case and the earbuds. One of the unique things about this TWS is that its charging case makes use of UV lights to disinfect the earbuds when they are resting in their cutouts. The earbuds fit nicely inside the ear and use the fish hooks to secure the fit. They are rated IP67 for dust and water resistance so you don’t have to worry about wearing them in the rain or during sweaty workouts. The 6mm drivers on these earbuds produce a bass-heavy sound. Each earbud has Headphone Spatial Processing built into it, which further improves its soundstage. The ANC on this TWS is able to neutralise the surrounding noise. There are two helpful modes for the ANC – Listening Mode to be more aware of your surroundings and Conversation Mode to hear the voices of the people around you.
Nothing’s affordable subsidiary brand CMF has a few interesting TWS products in its portfolio. Last year’s CMF Buds Pro still hold up well. The unique hockey puck design of the charging case looks great and its compactness is a huge attribute. The earbuds follow the traditional in-ear design and make use of a dynamic bass boost driver. These earbuds can be controlled through the Nothing X app. This is where you get the option to toggle the Active Noise Cancellation mode. The Buds Pro can cancel up to 45dB of surrounding noise. At this price range, this is a pretty nifty feature. Read our review of the CMF Buds Pro to know more.
The newly launched OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro are one of the best wireless ANC earbuds you can buy under Rs 10,000. The charging case of this TWS sports a two-tone finish. Its lid is glossy while the lower body has a stone-matte finish. The 12.4mm titanium drivers on the earbuds produce a rich output which flaunts a good mix of frequencies. The earbuds can cancel up to 49dB of surrounding noise with their ANC chops. Users get the option to choose among three ANC levels – Mild (15 dB), Moderate (25 dB), and Max (49 dB). Read our review of the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro here.
The Boult Z40 Ultra is priced moderately and offers a bunch of interesting features that are hard to find in this segment. It uses BoomX-enabled 10mm drivers to produce a punchy audio output. This output can be customised using 3EQ modes- HIFI, Rock, and Bass. It can drop its latency rate down to 45ms for ultra-smooth gaming. Talking about noise cancellation, the Z40 Ultra can nullify up to 32dB of surrounding sounds. The TWS can also connect to two devices at once. Boult claims a battery life of up to 100 hours on the Z40 Ultra on a full charge. Read our Boult Z40 Ultra review to learn more about the TWS.
We recently reviewed the Poco Buds X1 and found them to be one of the best pairs of wireless ANC earbuds priced under Rs 10,000. The TWS is equipped with 12.4mm dynamic titanium drivers and is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. The earbuds are compatible with SBC and AAC audio codecs. You can get up to 365 hours of playtime from the buds and the charging case.
The Redmi Buds 5A are one of the most affordable wireless earbuds or TWS to come with ANC. These earbuds produce a good audio output and can cancel up to 25dB of surrounding noise. At this price, this is a solid deal. The portability and fit of the Bud 5A do not present any issues either. The earbuds are rated IPX4 for dust and water resistance, making them ideal for listening to music while working out. The TWS supports Google Fast Pair and Bluetooth 5.4. Read more about it in our review of the TWS.
The ultra-affordable Truke Buds A1 bring ANC chops to the sub-Rs 1,000 price segment. These earbuds rock a clean design, good build quality, and a comfortable fit. The sound profile of the TWS is warm and focussed on the low end frequencies, which is hardly a surprise for this price bracket. The overall output is enjoyable if you’re a bass lover. There’s a convenient 50ms low latency mode onboard as well. The TWS can suppress up to 30dB of surrounding noise. We reviewed the Truke Buds A1 soon after they were released and were impressed by its ANC skills at this price range.
These are the best wireless earbuds with ANC under Rs 10,000 in India right now. If you don’t mind increasing your budget, we’d recommend looking at midrange offerings from Sony, Nothing, and JBL. Which TWS in this list stands out to you? Let us know in the comments!
Apple plans to launch exclusive modem technology on select models by 2025.
Despite reducing reliance on Qualcomm chips, Apple faces challenges.
Analyst Mark Gurman suggests discontinuing Qualcomm may pave the way for future advancements
Apple is allegedly planning to launch its exclusive modem technology on select models as early as 2025, as reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. The company has attempted to lessen its reliance on Qualcomm chips, but it has encountered several obstacles that have caused disruptions.
In a Bloomberg report, Apple Analyst Mark Gurman stated that while Apple’s decision to discontinue Qualcomm modem chips may not provide immediate benefits, it may pave the way for greater things in the future. Additionally, the corporation advances with a tabletop robot; Google’s latest Pixel smartphones demonstrate the state of artificial intelligence; and third parties will be able to access the iPhone payment chip.
With the development of new processors for the iPhone and iPad, Apple’s custom silicon team has been able to remove Intel Corp. CPUs from the company’s complete Mac portfolio. Additionally, they created the Touch ID and Face ID technologies that are now included on all key Apple devices. The group has also assisted in customising batteries and screens for suppliers. Better photography, more sophisticated wireless device syncing, quicker data downloads, and some of the sharpest OLED screens available today are all results of this work.
Apple has used Qualcomm Inc.’s modem chips to connect phones to cellular networks for more than ten years. But Apple began developing its own modem architecture in 2018, and it is already quite dependable and state-of-the-art.
Due to difficulties with the modem project, such as overheating and performance problems, Apple had to postpone the modem’s release until at least the next year. Apple has stated that it pays Qualcomm too much for modems, thus the company decided to save money and extend its supply arrangement through March 2027.
“The rollout will take place on a gradual basis — starting with niche models — and take a few years to complete. In a sign of this slow transition, Apple extended its supplier agreement with Qualcomm through March 2027,” He said.
Mark Gurman claims that Apple intends to incorporate its modem architecture into a new wireless chip that manages Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, possibly enhancing battery life and dependability. To save money and space inside the iPhone, this might also be integrated into the core system on a chip (SoC) of the gadget. Apple may use the money it saves by moving away from Qualcomm to fund the development of new features and parts. Soon, this move may or may not be beneficial.

For more than three weeks, we have been using the recently released OnePlus Nord Bud 3 Pro. Active noise cancellation (ANC), an IP55 water and dust-resistant rating, an AirPods-like design, and many more features are included in the TWS earbuds. The TWS earphones cost less than Rs 3,500. Are these TWS worth the price? To read the full review of the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro, scroll down.

OnePlus Nord Bud 3 Pro Review: Design
Let’s begin by assessing its physical characteristics. The OnePlus Nord Bud 3 Pro has a different look this time around. Forget the older design; it’s shaped like a pebble. The smaller shape of the casing has made it more compact, which fits well in the pocket and is comfortable to carry in the hand.
Although the device comes in a variety of colours, we have the green colour variant. Even though the earphones’ housing is made of plastic, it is sturdy enough to endure accidental falls.
It has a two-tone design. The bottom portion has a semi-matt, stone-like surface, while the top lid has a shimmering finish. The casing is not at all slippery, in contrast to those from other companies, which is a plus even though we didn’t particularly enjoy the design.
Because sweaty palms are a common side effect of working out, and glossy devices are more likely to slip, the manufacturer gave this rough surface careful thought. Furthermore, there is no smudging or fingerprint attraction on the charging case. The company’s logo is located in the centre, and when the lid is opened an LED light beneath it lights up.
A USB-C port at the bottom powers the charging case. A USB-C cable from OnePlus is included in the package. There is also a pairing button right next to the port. The lid is not too tight, and it opens effortlessly with one hand. It contains the earbuds, snugly nestled into their designated left and right slots. The casing has magnets inside to secure the earbuds in place.
R and L are inscribed on the tiny stems that support the buds. Both the stem and the part that goes into the ear of the buds are finished differently: the former is matte, while the latter is glossy. The earbuds appear to be any other pair of earphones, however, upon closer inspection, you will notice that they have a tapered shape. While the bottom has a little wider shape, the top has a somewhat narrower profile. Thus, it appears that the design is new and fresh.
We occasionally experienced some discomfort even with the incredibly light and comfy earbuds. The earbud’s fit and comfort level is a little tight for resting, so if you use them for an extended amount of time, you can get pain and irritation in your ears. This is not the product for you if you like to listen to music while you fall asleep. A few more sets of interchangeable silicone ear tips are included in the box.
The IP55 water and dust resistance rating of the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro helps to shield them from low-pressure water sprays and dust coming from all directions. Thus, you can use them whenever you’d like—while exercising outside in the rain or at the gym.
OnePlus Nord Bud 3 Pro Review: Performance
We’ve been listening to a wide range of music genres, categories, videos, and podcasts with the OnePlus Nord Bud 3 Pro for almost a month, and they sound amazing regardless of what you’re listening to. A 12.4-mm titanized diaphragm with BassWave 2.0 is housed inside the earbuds. Up to 49 dB of hybrid active noise suppression is offered by the TWS.
The Buds 3 Pro’s Smart Noise Cancellation adjusts the type and intensity of noise reduction in response to ambient noise, according to the device’s manufacturer. The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro uses the powerful triple stereo microphone system on each side of the earbuds to detect and analyse ambient noises in real-time. Whether you’re in a busy busy street, a peaceful study space or a subway, Smart Noise Cancellation automatically chooses the best setting for your surroundings.
Three ANC levels are available for these earphones: Mild (15 dB), Moderate (25 dB), and Max (49 dB), which carefully balance usability and ANC efficacy.
Although wearing the earphones for extended periods of time may not be very pleasant, the passive noise cancellation is good. You will notice some sound filtration as soon as you put them on.
To see if they fell off, we shook our heads. While it is true that they can come off, please make sure you get the correct size silicone tips as this will have a big impact on how they fit and, eventually, sound.
Let’s discuss the quality of the call. During the testing, we made a lot of calls and discovered that the call quality was generally decent. It boasts a triple stereo microphone setup that functions rather well for calls and active noise cancellation. Although there is a tiny change in sound quality, it is not really noticeable. When on a call, it does provide a fantastic sound experience.
In case you didn’t know, the Nord Series TWS features a lot of bass. This is also the same. Though balanced by default, the sound signature still leans somewhat towards a bass-heavy sound characteristic. Along with a master EQ, the audio device also has an adjustable Sound Master Equaliser that allows for precise EQ tweaking for an entirely unique sound. Additionally, the company has added two decibels to the overall bass level. Balanced, serenade, and bass are its three preset modes.
Good instrument separation is also present. In our opinion, the audio quality is excellent overall. If you don’t like bass, you can adjust the level using your own custom equaliser. The bass is pretty good. Additionally, we noticed that there is a minor muffling of the audio—that is, the vocals—once it shifts to extreme bass.
The balanced sound signature is the better choice otherwise, albeit it is not a huge deal. If you are an audiophile, you may notice that.
Moving on, we are truly taken aback by the ANC’s excellence at this point. The Nord Buds 3 Pro has the best ANC we have tested in this price range, eliminating all background noise. The TWS offers up to 49 dB of hybrid active noise cancellation. With the use of two analogues and one digital microphone, it can eliminate background noise that has been recorded both inside and outside the earbuds. These earphones offer three degrees of ANC: Mild (15 dB), Moderate (25 dB), and Max (49 dB).
Because passive noise cancellation is already so excellent, passive + ANC is likely the finest ANC available in this price range since it eliminates noise. It was excellent as soon as you put these earbuds on. The sounds of the surroundings, such as the fan running, are filtered out. Everything is carefully filtered; even noise from moving metro trains is heavily filtered. This indicates that it’s among the better noise-cancelling options in this price range.
Bluetooth codecs that are supported are AAC and SBC. The Bluetooth 5.4 version allows for a range of about 10 metres. Both dual connections and Google Fast Pair are supported. In addition, TWS offers in-ear detection, which means that the music will stop when you take it out of your ear and resume when you put it back in.
You can also download the HeyMelody app, which is compatible. This app is required if you are not using a OnePlus phone and are using an iPhone or Android phone. You may download it from both the Apple Store and the Play Store.
It offers a noise-cancelling feature and displays the battery %. It comes with an OFF and Transparency mode, but you may also tailor the noise cancellation. The Smart, Max, Moderate, and Mild selections are yours to choose.
Next, we have Bass, Serenade, and Balanced under the Sound Master Equaliser. There’s also a dynamic bass increase if you want even more bass. You can opt for a deeper bass if that’s what you desire. After that, you can add your custom equaliser.
The game mode comes next, and while it’s perfectly OK if you’re a serious gamer, we recommend wired headphones. Not the greatest options for gaming, but they’re still good.
Moreover, you can use the dual connection to link two devices simultaneously. There are therefore many controls, including touch controls. The touch response is accurate and flawless, and the tap functionality is excellent. We had no problems of any kind. Let’s now discuss battery life. Now, OnePlus states that these earphones, with the ANC turned on, can play music for about 5.5 hours on a single charge. We got almost five hours of music listening with ANC turned on throughout our testing.
These days, volume has a major influence on battery life. You might get less endurance if you are playing the music at its highest volume. However, you only receive about 20 hours with the case. You may get up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge if you are not utilising ANC, and the case and earphones have a combined 22 hours of battery life. Verdict
In this price range, you won’t find an ANC that sounds better. All things considered, we think the sound quality is fairly decent. The only thing to remember is that these are tailored for bass. On the other hand, despite being tuned for bass, the vocal quality and the excellent instrument separation remain intact. As a result, OnePlus did a respectable job creating the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro’s sonic identity.
