Welcome everyone to Gadget Bridge Awards 2020. This is the second time we are doing our yearly awards to know the best of the best in the tech and gadget circuits. All the nominations of Gadget Bridge Awards 2.0-20 can be found here. This was a very unusual year. While a couple of months were completely dead thanks to the much-needed lockdown, others (after the lockdown was over) had a flurry of gadgets to show.

We were overwhelmed in some months because of the sudden inflow of gadgets, but we powered through and took it up as a challenge. We thank you, the readers, viewers and listeners who have been standing strong with us, along with the industry. The new decade started with a bang and some cool smartphones were launched in early 2020. Then in mid-2020 we again saw some great gadgets coming to life, including televisions, laptops, smartwatches, cameras, and tablets. The year was business as usual.

You, our audience has helped us decide the People’s choice smartphone and gadget of the year 2020. Thousands came forward and voted on both on Twitter and on our voting forum to decide the winners here. We got a clear winner in one category, while the other one saw a gadget win by just a percentage point. So, let us get to it and see who the winners are in each of the 22 categories. Here are the winners of the Gadget Bridge Awards 2020:

Smartphone of the year 2020

The Contenders here are OnePlus 8T, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Apple iPhone 12 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 10.

This is by far one of the toughest categories when it comes to smartphones. We put in a lot of thought and retested some of the features. The winner won by the smallest of margins.

The Winner of the Smartphone of the year 2020 is: Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Camera phone of the year 2020

The contenders here are Samsung Note 20 Ultra, Google Pixel 4A, Apple iPhone 12 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro and Vivo X50 Pro.

This is one of our favourite categories of the Gadget Bridge Awards 2020. We love to tinker around with cameras especially when it is on a smartphone. We saw some great nominations this year too.

The winner of the Camera phone of the year 2020 is: Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Budget smartphone of the year 2020

The contenders here are Nokia 5.3, Redmi 9 Prime, Oppo A12, Poco M2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy M21.

The most populated and most brutal classification when it comes to smartphones is the budget one. Maximum numbers of devices launch in this one year after year and the choice here is very very tough. But alas we found the one that stands on the top of the podium.

The winner of the Budget smartphone of the year 2020 is: Redmi 9 Prime.

Gaming smartphone of the year 2020

The contenders here are Asus ROG Phone 3, OnePlus 8 Pro, iQoo 3, iPhone 12 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 10.

Gaming became a way of life during the lockdown and many picked it up as a good way to pass time. Smartphones were the first weapon of choice to level up. Last year the category was won by Asus ROG Phone 2 and this year its elder brother has stepped on to the top of the podium.

The winner of the Gaming smartphone of the year 2020 is: Asus ROG Phone 3.

Mid-range smartphone of the year 2020

The contenders here are Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Oppo F17, Vivo V20 Pro, OnePlus Nord and Moto G 5G.

A really tough decision for us, as the vote was 50-50 between two smartphones. The OnePlus and Vivo. But the later had a wee-bit more firepower in the mid-range category.

The winner of the Mid-range smartphone of the year 2020 is: Vivo V20 Pro.

Gadget Bridge Awards People’s choice smartphone of the year 2020

The contenders here are Apple iPhone 12 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, OnePlus Nord and Vivo V20 Pro.

This is where all of you decided. You voted and this smartphone won. There was a clear champion here.

The winner of the People’s choice smartphone of the year 2020 is: Apple iPhone 12 Pro.

The contenders here are Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, Amazon Echo Dot with clock, Samsung Frame TV and Apple iPad Pro 2020.

Really close completion here. You decided the winner, which won with the narrowest margins.

The winner of the People’s choice gadget of the year 2020 is: Apple iPad Pro 2020.

Gadget of the year 2020

The contenders here are Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 and Apple Watch Series 6

We are all about gadgets and these gadgets made to the top of our lists of Gadget Bridge Awards. We would have loved to award multiple winners here, but only one can win. This particular gadget has become better over time and still is something out of a Sci-Fi movie.

The winner of the Gadget of the year 2020 is: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Hatke gadget of the year 2020 (Design)

The contenders here are Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, Apple iPhone 12, Sony PlayStation 5 and iPad Air 2020.

These gadgets are Hatke (different) when it comes to design. All of the above had something unusually cool about them (design-wise). But one stood out as we have never seen this design feature anywhere

The winner of Hatke gadget of the year 2020 (Design) is: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14.

Hatke gadget of the year 2020 (Performance and Utility)

The contenders here are Amazon Echo Auto, Apple iPhone 12 Pro. Apple Watch Series 6, Samsung UV Steriliser and Sony WF-XB700.

These gadgets are Hatke (different) when it comes to its performance and utility. Another tough one for us, but in the end, we all had one unanimous winner.

The winner of Hatke gadget of the 2020 year (Performance and Utility) is: Apple iPhone 12 Pro.

Laptop of the year 2020

The contenders here are Asus Expert book, Honor Magic Book, Mi Notebook Horizon Edition, Dell XPS 13 and Acer Swift 3X.

A flurry of laptops were launched in the year 2020. The demand was very high this year, as many were working from home due to the pandemic. Some great runners in this category but one stood out of the pack.

The winner of the Laptop of the year 2020 is: Acer Swift 3X.

Gaming laptop of the year 2020

The contenders here are Acer Nitro 5, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, Acer Predator Triton 300, Alienware M15 R3 and HP Omen 15 2020.

After gaming smartphones, a category that flourished during the year 2020 was of gaming laptops. As PC gaming grew, more companies introduced its portable gaming notebooks that can give tough competition to desktop gaming machines.

The winner of the Gaming laptop of the year 2020 is: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14.

Tablet of the year 2020

The contenders here are Samsung Tab S7, Apple iPad Pro 2020, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and Microsoft Surface Go 2

Tablets are the preferred choice if someone wants good performance and portability yet does not want to burn a hole in his/her pocket. These became great alternatives to laptops for students and office goes who wanted to attend online classes or a Zoom call in the year 2020.

The winner of the Tablet of the year 2020 is: Samsung Galaxy Tab S7.

TV of the year 2020

The contenders here are Hisense Android TV, Samsung Frame TV, Onida Fire TV Edition, Mi TV 4A Horizon Edition and Kodak 4K Android TV

The idiot box is not so idiot anymore. Televisions are seen as a family member now and with the odd times we live in, stuck at home, these smart machines kept us entertained. A lot of great contenders this time and by the smallest margin, we do have a final winner.

The winner of the TV of the year 2020 is: Samsung Frame TV.

Home improvement device of the year 2020

The contenders here are Amazon Echo Show 8, Mi Smart Speaker, Google Nest Audio, Aquox Disinfectant Generator and Godrej ViroShield 4.0.

These gadgets help to elevate or better your living quarters. We came across some neat and nifty gadgets in the year 2020.

Smartwatch of the year 2020

The contenders here are Oppo Watch, Apple Watch Series 6, Huawei Watch GT 2E, Xiaomi Watch Revolve and Honor Watch GS Pro

Like we said before, this year saw even better, faster and longer-lasting (when it comes to battery life) smartwatches in India. Every big and small tech company has at least 1 smartwatch in its arsenal now. This was a doozie for us, but we finally came to a conclusion.

The winner of the Smartwatch of the year 2020 is: Apple Watch Series 6.

Fitness wearable of the year 2020

The contenders here are Amazefit Bip U, Huawei Band 4, Fitbit Charge 4, Honor Watch ES and Mi Smartband 5

Another very crowded segment in India was of fitness wearables. The market was flooded with branded and non-branded wearables. The choice here for us was simple, pick the one which gives you the best bang for the buck and has extra features to offer.

The winner of Fitness wearable of the year 2020 is: Fitbit Charge 4.

Headphones of the year 2020

The contenders here are Jabra Elite 45H, Sony WH-1000XM4, Sennheiser HD450BT, Logitech G733 and Sennheiser PXC 550-II

After sight, sound is the most important feature for a wholesome entertainment experience. Headphones provide you with great sound at a personal level and there were many exceptional runners here. The choice was hard for us, but one pipped the others thanks to its superb ANC.

The winner of the Headphones of the year 2020 is: Sony WH-1000XM4.

Wireless earphones of the year 2020

The contenders here are Oppo Enco W11, Vivo TWS Neo, OnePlus Buds, Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 and Sony WF-XB700

Another segment that grew exponentially in 2020 is of wireless earphones. Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Xiaomi got new and fresh wireless earphones to the Indian market. All of them did a very good job, but one stood out of the pack.

The winner of the Wireless Earphones of the Year 2020 is: Sony WF-XB700.

Bluetooth speaker of the year 2020

The contenders here are Thomson BTS 05, Harman Kardon Esquire Mini 2, Xiaomi Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker and LG Xboom Pro PL7.

This category was not on fire like it was in 2019. But we did see some good fresh new Bluetooth speakers coming to town.

The Winner of Bluetooth speakers of the year 2020 is: LG Xboom Pro PL7.

Streaming service of the year 2020

The contenders here are Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+ Hotstar and ALTBalaji

Everybody amped up the game in 2020 as people turned to streaming services when doing nothing at home. There was plenty of action, drama and comedy going on in each one of them. But in the end, it is all about great content and who delivers it the fastest.

Camera of the year 2020

The contenders here are Fujifilm Instax Mini 1, Canon EOS 850D, Canon EOS R5 and Sony Alpha 7C

These devices capture your memories in the form of pictures or moving pictures. Some innovative new products came to life in 2020. We wish there could be two winners but there is space for only one on the top step.

The winner of the Camera of the year 2020 is: Canon EOS R5.
