LG G8 ThinQ to be unveiled on the eve of MWC 2019

South Korean technology company, LG Electronics has announced that it will be launching its latest flagship smartphone that will come with a new user interface on the eve of Mobile World Congress 2019. For those unaware, the Mobile World Congress, or MWC, is scheduled to take place in Barcelona February 25 onwards and it will go on till February 28. And LG will be unveiling its LG G8 ThinQ smartphone on February 24 in Barcelona itself. Global technology media has reported that the company has sent them a 10-second video invitation that shows a hand making sweeping motions above a white piece of paper only to finally reveal the message ‘Goodbye Touch’. According to Yonhap news agency, this points towards the fact that LG’s new user interface will enable users to operate its upcoming smartphone without physically touching it. From what we can guess, users will be able to control LG‘s new smartphone via gestures. Although LG hasn’t mentioned a specific device’s name in the video, according to the company’s officials the G7 ThinQ smartphone’s successor will be named LG G8 ThinQ.
According to a previous report, the South Korean technology company is expected to unveil a dual connected display screen at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. With this, it will become a part of the race of technology companies that have been targeting the premium smartphone market with new form factors. We should also mention that the company will be facing some competition from its local rival, Samsung Electronics, which has hinted that it may take wraps off its much-anticipated foldable phone on its February 20 event. Chinese smartphone brand Huawei is also expected to unveil a similar device soon. Coming back to LG’s plans, officials from the company have also said that the smartphone maker plans to unveil its 5G-enabled devices during its event. We should mention that LG has been working to gain back its position in the smartphone market because the company’s mobile division has been posting losses for almost two years now. While the premium segment of the smartphone market is dominated by Apple and Samsung, various Chinese players have captured the budget and mid-range segment. Amid this, it has been rather difficult for LG to maintain its stand in the smartphone market. The eligibility for this challenge is that participants should be at least 18 years of age. However, Apple employees and their immediate families cannot participate in the challenge. Another major information about Apple, that has surfaced lately, is that the Cupertino-based-tech giant is planning to get rid of LCD screen for the next line-up of iPhone models. Japan Display, that is Apple’s supplier is very stressed with this decision. We can say that the decision made by Apple was rather unexpected, considering that it has been using LCD display for a long time. They will soon move to OLED displays.
To recall, since Apple introduced its iPhones back in 2007, it has been using Liquid Crystal Display on them. However, many including Apple have substituted LCD for OLED displays because they are cheaper. These models include Apple iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. Clear Samsung Galaxy S10 leaked images confirm Samsung Blockchain KeyStore

It was reported last month that Samsung would be launching a cryptocurrency service with its Galaxy S10 model. Now, there are several live images leaked online that showcase a Samsung Blockchain KeyStore app. The cryptocurrency service was divided into two parts, that is, a cold wallet for saving digital currencies, public and private keys, and signing private keys for transactions. Also, there was reportedly an availability of a crypto wallet in order to view account information, transfers and transaction history. According to the Samsung Galaxy S10 leaked pictures, the smartphone is going to have a Blockchain KeyStore app running on it. The app is also expected to let users import an existing wallet and at the same time, create a new one. The support for cryptocurrency is going to be Ethereum, however it is only going to have support for Bitcoin, Ethereum-derived token ER20 and Bitcoin Cash during the launch. In the Samsung Galaxy S10, if you go to settings>biometrics and security, you are going to find a relevant menu item for Blockchain KeyStore. One observation on the basis of which it can be ascertained that the device is the Galaxy S10 and not the Galaxy S10+ is how the camera looks and is placed. There are minimal bezels due to which there is a larger screen space. This, users might find very appealing. A few days ago, there were a few leaked renders that showed that the Samsung Galaxy S10 is going to have a fingerprint scanner as its ‘unlock option’. There was another leak by TuttoAndroid two-to-three days ago that tipped about the storage of the Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Lite and the Galaxy S10+.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 will come in 6GB RAM along with 12GB on-board storage and 8GB RAM along with 512GB on-board storage. The Samsung Galaxy S10+ will again have 6GB and 8GB RAM variants that will come with 128GB and 512GB internal storage respectively. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, unlike the other two will come with a single 6GB RAM variant with an internal storage of 128GB. Xiaomi would have to go through some hurdles before it launches its foldable phone

This year, we are expecting to see foldable phones from a number of technology companies including Samsung, Motorola, and LG. And given that most major smartphone makers are jumping on the foldables bandwagon, we can’t really expect Xiaomi to be left behind. A few weeks back, renowned tipster Evan Blass had tweeted a short video of the foldable device by Xiaomi in use. And now, Xiaomi itself has given us a look at the upcoming phone. As of now, the marketing name of Xiaomi‘s foldable phone has not been revealed, but considering that the device is still a prototype, it is fully acceptable. Wang Teng Thomas, the Head of Product Development at Xiaomi took to Weibo to speak about the upcoming foldable smartphone. Thomas posted a video of the device and said that the company is trying to sort out some issues related to the foldable phone. In the video, he is first seen using the device as a tablet and then folds it into a phone. It is worth noticing that Xiaomi’s foldable phone folds outwards twice. So there is reportedly a fold on each side. Basically, when the device is folded into a phone, it is literally all screen. Thomas also added in his post that making a foldable phone that folds outwards is more difficult in comparison to the one that folds inwards. And considering that Xiaomi’s phone folds outwards twice, it leads to double the number of complications.
That’s not all. When a follower asked him what kind of issues was the Chinese smartphone brand facing with its upcoming device, Thomas replied that the company is battling with issues that are related to the durability of the foldable phone. We should mention that considering that the smartphone is all screen, it has very few possibilities of surviving any drops.

And according to Thomas, Xiaomi hasn’t found a way to tackle this issue yet. However, this is just one among the many issues that they need to solve before the foldable phone is launched and is made commercially available for customers. Speaking about the video posted by tipster Evan Blass, it shows Xiaomi’s foldable tablet cum phone being used by someone who them folds the screen on the right to turn it into a smaller device. It also showed that the UI of the device quickly adapts to the change. You can watch the leaked video and read about some speculated specifications of the upcoming device here. Samsung Galaxy S10 to come with this Huawei Mate 20 Pro feature

A few months back, Huawei launched its Mate 20 Pro smartphone that comes with reverse wireless charging. Basically, the feature enables users to place another smartphone or device that has support for wireless charging on the back panel of the Mate 20 Pro and it will begin charging. Huawei Mate 20 Pro actually shares some of the juice from its 4,200mAh battery to the device kept on top of its back panel. And now, we may get to see the same feature in Samsung‘s upcoming flagship smartphones. According to technology news website TechTastic, smartphones from the Samsung Galaxy S10 series will come with the reverse wireless charging. The report also says that the company will be calling this feature as PowerShare. However, as of now, there is no clarity on whether the Samsung Galaxy S10E, which is the name being used for the ‘Lite’ version of the smartphone, will have this feature. The Dutch news website has also shared an image that seems to be taken at a demo booth. In the photo, we can see a controller with different buttons that play videos of various features of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone.
The first button on the image plays the video advertisement of the Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone, the second one plays a video about the device‘s display, the third one plays a video that talks about the handset’s in-display fingerprint scanner, and the fourth one about the triple rear camera setup that the phone sports. And that last button that can be seen is for the PowerShare reverse charging wireless feature.

We should mention that although Huawei was the first to incorporate this technology, Mate 20 Pro‘s reverse charging feature is reportedly very slow and has been termed by some media reports as a “waste of time”. We are hoping that Samsung implements this technology better. The company recently confirmed that it is holding a Galaxy Unpacked event on February 20, ahead of Mobile World Congress 2019. The South Korean technology giant is expected to launch its upcoming flagship devices at the event. Samsung recently also hinted that it will be launching its much-talked-about foldable phone at the same event. Meizu Zero with no ports or buttons becomes the ‘world’s first holeless phone’

Although one among the prominent trends of the smartphone industry was to go bezel-less in 2018, a more subtle trend that emerged was going towards being ‘portless’. There are a number of signs that point towards this: The headphone jacks are dying, the microUSB port is nearly extinct, and software UIs have replaced the physical buttons on almost every device. And now, Chinese smartphone brand Meizu has announced ‘the world’s first holeless phone’. Yes, you read that right. The new Meizu Zero comes with any ports, buttons, or holes on its exterior body. According to the Chinese smartphone maker, the Meizu Zero smartphone has “no buttons, no speakers’ holes, no SIM card slot, no charging port.” So, the body of the smartphone is basically a slab made of ceramic that has a slightly protruding camera bump on its back panel and microphone holes on the bottom. The newly announced device is being marketed as the “world’s first holeless phone”, and Meizu has given a few details about how exactly the smartphone works without having any ports or buttons or holes and has shed light on a few specifications too.
The smartphone comes with a 5.99-inch AMOLED display that has a chin exactly like that of Samsung Galaxy S9, and sports a bezel on the top instead of the notch. Following the current trend, Meizu Zero sports an in-display fingerprint scanner and comes with the company’s ‘mSound 2.0’ technology that enables it to function as a speaker. As expected, charging on the Meizu Zero is completely wireless and the company has promised the speed of up to 18W through its ‘Super mCharge Wireless’ technology. We should mention that this means that the technology would surpass Apple’s 7.5W and Samsung’s 9W speeds. Although there are no buttons on the Meizu Zero, the smartphone brand uses the haptic feedback system to offer virtual buttons on the side edge that can be used to turn the smartphone on or off and to adjust the volume. As for the SIM card, customers of the smartphone would have to use an e-SIM instead of a physical SIM card. The device comes with an IP68 rating and is hence waterproof and dustproof. Apart from this, all that we know as of now is that Meizu Zero will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor. There’s no other word on the specifications of the device. As of now, even the pricing or release date has not been announced, however, we do expect to hear more about it at the upcoming Mobile World Congress that will be held in Barcelona next month. Vivo V11 Pro successor to come with this futuristic feature from the company’s NEX smartphone

2
Chinese smartphone brand Vivo last year launched its NEX smartphone that comes with a pop-up selfie camera. And now, a report has surfaced online that suggests that the company will be getting this feature in a mid-premium V series smartphone that it is set to launch next month. According to BGR.in, Vivo will be launching the successor of its V11 Pro smartphone next month in India and the upcoming device will sport a pop-up selfie camera. When the company got in this technology with its Vivo NEX smartphone last year, it was really appreciated as it added on to the futuristic look and feel of the smartphone. Also, because the Vivo NEX had a pop-up selfie camera, it could offer its users a full-screen experience. Although the report says that the technology will now be seen in Vivo V11 Pro‘s successor, it added that the marketing name of the device has not been finalised yet. We should mention that Nipun Marya, Vivo India’s Director for Brand Strategy had previously said that the Chinese smartphone brand will be launching the Vivo V11 Pro successor in the first half of 2019.
The report also added that according to people who are familiar with the matter, the device will be launching in India next month. However, much like the marketing name of Vivo V11 Pro’s successor, the launch details and the specifications of the smartphone are not known as of now. To recall, Vivo V11 Pro was launched in India in September 2018 at a price tag of Rs 25,990. Although the marketing name of the upcoming smartphone has not been disclosed yet, we should point out that Vivo usually goes for odd numbers when it comes to smartphone names. So, while reports suggest that Vivo would be naming the device as V12 Pro, we would not be surprised to see it being named as V13 Pro or V15 Pro. It is also worth noticing that Vivo launched the V9 mobile in the first half of 2018 and the V11 Pro in the second half of the year. A previous report also suggested that Vivo V11 Pro’s successor will be priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 in India and will be available via online as well as offline channels. Samsung Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 to get the Android Pie update in August: Report

0
Just a few days are left for the January 28-launch of Samsung Galaxy M series smartphones. And the company has also hinted that it will be launching two smartphones from the series that day. What’s even better is that Samsung has assured that the two smartphones that will be launched – Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 – will be receiving the Android Pie update. According to the company’s roadmap in the Samsung Members app suggests that the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones will be getting the Android Pie update in future. But then, this also goes to show that the two devices will be launched next week with an older version of Android. The two smartphones were first spotted on Members app by SamMobile. It has been reported that Samsung Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 will be getting the Android Pie update in August this year. However, we should mention that this basically means that the two smartphones would get the update after Google unveils Android Q, and ideally they should be launched with the latest Android version. However, since the devices haven’t launched till now, the date of them getting the Android Pie update is only tentative and could definitely change.
But then, the fact that Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 showed up on the Members app just adds more weight to the reports that they are being launched next week. A report by news agency IANS claims that Samsung Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 will be priced at Rs 7,990, and Rs 10,990 respectively. However, another report by 91mobiles says that while Samsung Galaxy M10 will be priced at Rs 8,999, Galaxy M20 will bear a price tag of Rs 12,999. It has also been said that they will be available for purchase on Amazon India’s website starting February 5. The smartphones will come with the Infinity-V display and will have ‘massive’ batteries. While Samsung Galaxy M10 will have a 3,500mAh battery, Galaxy M20 will house a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung has also said that it will be manufacturing the smartphones in its Noida facility, which is the world’s biggest smartphone manufacturing unit.
