Instagram Introduces Improvements to Safeguard Users from Abuse

According to a statement made on Thursday by Instagram will improve tools that safeguard users against harassment or trolls on Instagram while promoting positive and courteous discourse. In order to protect more creators from offensive message requests and comments, it has strengthened account blocking functionality and will test automatically turning on Hidden Words for users who use a Creator account. Additionally, it is increasing the use of nudges to encourage more individuals to think twice before responding to requests for comments or messages that could be unpleasant. Instagram, a social media platform owned by Meta via its blog post said, “We want to make it as hard as possible for someone you’ve blocked to contact you again. Now when you block someone, you’ll also have the option to block other accounts they may have or create, making it more difficult for them to interact with you on Instagram.” Instagram upgraded its blocking functionality last year, enabling you to block not only a single account but also any future accounts that users may create. You can now block any current accounts the user may have thanks to this update. Since these accounts will now be blocked automatically, we anticipate our community will need to block 4 million fewer accounts each week based on the results of the new change’s initial tests. Instagram Block feature Instagram claims that more than one in five users with substantial followings has enabled Hidden Words since it was introduced last year, providing them with a potent tool to automatically exclude dangerous information from their comments and message requests. It has been discovered that Hidden Words has shown to be quite successful in keeping people secure. On average, individuals see 40% fewer potentially objectionable comments when Hidden Words is enabled for comments. “We want to help more creators benefit from this protection, so we’re starting to test automatically turning on Hidden Words for Creator accounts. Everyone will continue to be able to turn these settings on or off at any time and build a custom list with additional words, phrases, and emojis they may want to hide,” the company stated. Instagram Hidden Words Moreover, Instagram has expanded Hidden Words to cover Story replies, so offensive replies from people you don’t follow will be sent to your Hidden Requests folder and you never have to see them. This functionality supports new languages, including Farsi, Turkish, Russian, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil. The filter to spot and hide more intentional misspellings of offensive terms has also been improved, for instance, if someone uses a “1” instead of an “i”. Instagram nudges However, nudges can lessen the number of offensive comments on Instagram, which is why Instagram is adding more of them. A new message will now urge users to think carefully before responding to a comment that our technologies warn them may be offensive. For users whose apps are set to English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Chinese, or Arabic, these nudges are currently available. “We’ve also started reminding people to be respectful in DMs when sending a message request to a creator. This nudge helps people remember that there’s a real person on the other side of their DM request, and encourages more respectful outreach to people they may not know. We’re rolling out this reminder globally in the coming weeks.” For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Comparing PC and mobile online gaming play

When the very first online casinos started to appear in the early 1990s, the smartphone was still some years away. So the first players on these sites weren’t faced with the tricky conundrum of the best way to access their favourite games. But technology has now advanced by light years from back then. So today it is very much a question that players are asking themselves. This is especially true as the overall move has been towards mobile not just in casino games but in accessing the internet in general. Although, this isn’t to say that the days are over for PC gaming, far from it. As in video gaming in general, this method still has plenty of devotees who use it as their first choice. It is certainly true that PC play has a number of clear benefits.

The features of PC play

Casino games are undoubtedly very visual activities. Whether you’re playing roulette or blackjack, baccarat or slots a great deal of the enjoyment comes from seeing the action on screen. The bright colours and fast-moving scenes make it a visual feast for the eyes – and one which is best seen on the wider screen of a PC. This is why you’ll see that any leading online casino like Virgin Games will have designed its site to make it as visually appealing as possible. Going hand in hand with the visual appeal is always going to be the sound. It’s this that helps to create much of the atmosphere and ambience of a site. So the speakers of a PC will generally make this more impactful too. Next, there’s the question of how exactly to play the games in question – or what controls to use. Arguably the biggest ever breakthrough that occurred in terms of PC controls was the introduction of the mouse. Some have been predicting that it will soon be obsolete, and have been saying it for years. But it clings on and makes controlling many online casino games very simple indeed. Combined with the keyboard, it means everything from adjusting the stake amount to activating the games themselves becomes a matter of a couple of clicks. It’s also important to recognise that casino games have gradually become more and more complex as time has gone on, needing more memory and processing power than ever before. Fortunately, however, involved a casino game might be, it’s well within the capabilities of all modern PCs to handle it. This is particularly true of one of the most successful modern developments – the live casino. This involves the live streaming of casino games, run by actual dealers in a studio, to players’ PCs. This is obviously much more involved that the automated games of old but playing on a PC make for an even more enjoyable experience.

Taking a look at mobile

There’s no question that mobile play in an online casino is a very different experience to a PC, whether you’re using a smartphone or a tablet. To begin, once again, with the screen size, this is always going to be smaller than on a PC, even with larger tablets. But this doesn’t necessarily need to be seen as a disadvantage, Some games, and slots, in particular, can actually look even better on a small screen. With the ever-increasing quality of smartphone screens, the colours can be brighter and the images even sharper than on any but the most expensive and top-of-the-range PC screens. Moving on to sound, most people will use headphones or earbuds when playing on their phones. So, if anything, the sound can be even better than on a PC. Then there’s the matter of controls. With no keyboard or mouse for smartphones, casino game developers have had to become more inventive. They’ve achieved this by creating touch-screen controls that can be almost as flexible and as useful as if you were playing on a PC. With tablets, it’s a little different as keyboards are available for people who want to add them to their set-up. And, while the processing and storage capacities of smartphones and tablets have been steadily on the rise for many years, and arguably overtaking PCs, this may have less importance when it comes to casino games. That’s because all of the leading names also tend to have a dedicated app that can be used to play. Designed to optimise online play, this includes fairly light usage of the device’s memory, but allows all the enjoyment of online play. Of course, there’s also the option of browser-based play, but if an app’s available, it makes better sense to use it.

So which is best?

Rather than trying to say which is best, it’s more useful to look at what each method is best for. So PC play is ideal if you need a big screen area to enjoy a game and also if you need to download relatively complex software from a casino. The disadvantage is that you are limited to the place you can play, unlike a mobile device which you can use anywhere with wi-fi. This also makes mobiles and tablets the best choice if you just want to dip in and out of a game. It’s just a question of opening the app, a very quick option compared with booting up a PC and waiting for it to be ready to go. So it really is a question of horses for courses – and that’s always going to a decision to look at on an individual basis. Android 13 (Go edition) for entry-level smartphones announced

Google has released Android 13 (Go edition) for budget smartphones. The operating system’s toned-down version is designed to function on entry-level devices with up to 3GB of RAM. It only includes the essential apps and removes all extraneous programmes. Two months after Android 13 was released, the latest version of Android Go was unveiled. While announcing the latest OS the company said, “When we introduced Android (Go edition) five years ago, we tailored our core mobile platform to power affordable phones with limited memory and storage. This need is just as pertinent today, with nearly 180 million people coming online in the last twelve months alone. As we announce the release of Android 13 (Go edition), we’re marking a milestone, too: there are now over 250 million monthly active devices powered by Android Go. To better serve this growing set of users, we focused on three critical qualities: reliability, usability and customization. Let’s walk through what’s new in this release.” The majority of entry-level handsets cannot afford to lose the large amount of storage space required to update a phone’s software. With Android 13 (Go edition), the firm has given Go devices access to Google Play System Updates, ensuring that they can regularly receive important software updates outside of the main Android version. As a result, important updates will be delivered quickly and easily without affecting the device’s storage capacity. As a result, your phone will always be current, and you won’t need to wait for the manufacturer to send out the newest software or wait for the next release. You can get more use out of your phone thanks to the intelligence integrated into Android (Go edition). With the Discover feature introduced in this update, you may swipe right from your home screen to view a curated list of articles and other material. The business contends that each person should be allowed to customise their phone to suit their preferences and needs. With this new update, Material You is finally available on Android Go, enabling you to match your wallpaper’s colour palette to the overall design of your phone. Four corresponding colour schemes are available when you set your wallpaper image. The dynamic colouring not only makes for a lovely home screen but also greatly contributes to the feeling of exclusivity you get from using your smartphone. The business added that this version also includes several essential Android 13 features including Notification Permissions, App Language Preferences, and other new features that are specifically designed to meet the needs of Go users. With this update, we hope to give the millions of Android Go device owners—both present and future—more options. In 2023, keep an eye out for new devices that feature Android 13 (Go edition).
