Gionee expands its pioneer series with the launch of new Pioneer P2M at Rs 6,999

Gionee might be a Chinese brand but they have launched some great mobile phones in India. Now, they have launched the Gionee Pioneer P2M, which is an upgraded version of the Pioneer P2 that was launched back in 2013. The smartphone is available in three colour variations – white, gold and black.

The Gionee Pioneer P2M features a 4-inch WVGA IPS display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor that runs on MediaTek MT6582 chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage. This can be further expandable via a microSD card (up to 32GB). The Pioneer P2M is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone with dual standby support. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. For graphics an ARM Mali 400 MP is also on board.

The Gionee Pioneer P2M is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash alongside 2-megapixel front camera. This smartphone offers 3G, GPS, WI-Fi and Bluetooth as connectivity options. The device packs a 3,000 mAh battery.

The company has priced the Gionee Pioneer P2M very aggressively at Rs 6,999. The new Gionee smartphone will be available in India for both online and offline consumers. But, with am array of smartphones already available at this price point, the road for Gionee does not look that smooth as before.

The Chinese smartphone maker, Lenovo along with Flipkart sold 50,000 units of Lenovo K3 Note in just 10 seconds on this 29th July flash sale. The company informed that it sold 35,000 units of K3 Note (black version) in 6.5 seconds and another 15,000 units of its white version were sold out in 3.5 seconds at the fourth flash sale yesterday.

The Lenovo K3 Note has a 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display. The smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Vibe UI and comes with dual-SIM support. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.7GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6752 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. For graphics an ARM MALI-T760 is also on board.

The on-board storage of the Lenovo K3 Note accounts to 16GB that can be expanded further via microSD card up to 32GB. The device features a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Lenovo K3 Note features 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB as connectivity options. The device houses a 3,000 mAh battery to keep it alive.

The company has priced the Lenovo K3 Note at Rs 9,999 and it is exclusively on Flipkart, as far as online sales are concerned. It will be available through another flash sale, which is expected to take place on August 5. The registrations for the next week sale have already begun. The Lenovo K3 Note (black) will be open for sale at 12pm while the white version will go on sale at 3pm.

Dell on Thursday added its latest device in the Venue 7 range of tablets in India by launching the Dell Venue 7 3741.  The company says that the tablet offers “solid performance in a sleek and affordable package.”

Krishnakumar, vice president, consumer and small business, Dell India, said, “The Venue 7 3741 tablet is for those who are looking to consume information at ease, with a high level of performance. ASUS will launch three new ZenFone smartphones soon in India

Soon ASUS will be launching three of its latest smartphones at the ZenFestival, which is going to take place on August 6 in India. The three new smartphones are the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, ZenFone Selfie and the ZenFone Laser.

Peter Chang, Managing Director, ASUS said, “We are serious about the Indian market which is growing tougher day by day and that is why we want to do something different. We will showcase more products and share their prices at the Zen Festival. He also announced that some major changes are made to the Zen user interface to make the phone’s battery last longer and provide a lag-free experience for users.”

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display. It will be powered by a 64-bit class based Quad-Core 2.3GHz Intel Atom processor Z3580 with PowerVR G6430 GPU coupled with 4GB of RAM. This smartphone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI. ZenFone 2 Deluxe is expected to have 64GB of internal storage, which can further be expanded via a microSD card. The device is said to come equipped with a 13MP rear camera with PixelMaster technology along with a 5MP front facing camera. It will also feature dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth as connectivity options. The ZenFone 2 Deluxe would house a 3,000 mAh battery.

The next smartphone to be revealed this week is the ZenFone Selfie. It will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Series Octa-core (1.7GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A53 + 1.0GHz quad-core A53) CPU with Adreno 405 GPU. This smartphone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI. It also features 16GB internal storage with 2GB of RAM and 32GB with 3GB of RAM (can be extended via a microSD card).

The Asus ZenFone Selfi sports twin 13 MP cameras located at the back and front, which come with dual LED flash. It will also feature dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB and Bluetooth as connectivity options. The ZenFone Selfie would house a 3,000 mAh battery.

The device is equipped with a 13MP rear camera with laser autofocus along with a 5MP front facing camera. ZenFone Laser will also bring along dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth as connectivity options. As far as the battery is concerned this smartphone houses a 2,070 mAh battery.

The Redmond giant Microsoft has finally officially launched its Windows 10 operating system in 190 countries. Presently the users of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 can now upgrade to the new Windows 10 with ease. The company has started its reservation system earlier and is now in the phase of rolling out the updates.

Speaking at the launch, Vineet Durani, Director, Windows Business Group, Microsoft India said, “We are entering a new era of Windows. For the first time, we built Windows 10 alongside our customers – the feedback of more than 5 million Windows Insiders helped shape Windows 10. The response from Insiders in India has been overwhelming as well and we are excited to bring Windows 10 to India. Apart from the frequent smartphone announcements, InFocus have also announced a new 2-in-1 tablet. The company has not given any name of the tablet yet. But, InFocus will be launching the tablet later this year in India.

The tablet has a 10.1-inch Full HD capacitive touchscreen display. This device is powered by a Quad-core Intel Atom processor, which is clocks at 1.11GHz and supports hyper-threading up to 1.83GHz. It comes packed with 2GB DDR3 RAM. Over that, the InFocus 2-in-1 Hybrid tablet also has 32GB internal memory.

The InFocus 2-in-1 tablet has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel secondary front facing camera. The device is 8.8 mm thick and weighs around 550 grams (including the battery). This tablet houses an 8,000 mAh battery, which is non-removable. It also comes with an attachable keyboard cover, hence it is a hybrid machine.

It has been spotted running Windows OS. So it may come with dual boot functionality booting Android OS alongside Windows OS or just plain Windows. But, there is no confirmation yet about the OS of the tablet yet. We will confirm what it will be running exactly as soon as we get more information about it.

Sony, the Japanese giant smartphone manufacturer will soon be launching its latest flagships in the form of two great smartphones, which are Sony Xperia S60 and S70 around the world and in India. The new Sony flagships are said to launch at the IFA in September this year.

Some fresh reports say that the Xperia S60 and Xperia S70 are actually the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact. However, the report by WinFuture (German website) did not provide any details about the specifications of the upcoming Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact models. But, they claimed that both the handsets would offer 32GB of internal memory.

Other reports say that the Sony Xperia S60 or Xperia Z5 will be available in black, white, yellow and coralie colour options. The smartphones will be powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM. The Xperia Z5 smartphone will come with 32GB memory. The device will also have a massive 4,500 mAh battery.

Moving on to the next device, the Sony Xperia S70 or Xperia Z5 Compact will come in black, white, green, and gold colour variants. This smartphone will also have 32GB memory. Both the Sony smartphones are likely to be priced higher in comparison to the handsets in the current Xperia lineup, as both are reported to be high-end smartphones.

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has finally slashed the price of Mi 4 in India. They have recently dropped the price of the 64GB variant of the Mi 4 in India to Rs 17,999. The original price for this one was Rs 23,999. Xiaomi India tweeted that it has permanently slash the price of 64GB Mi 4 since its fans “love it (the offer) so much.”

The Xiaomi Mi 4 is available in white and black colours. The mobile phone features a 5-inch full-HD display. This display comes with JDI OGS full lamination too. Powering the smartphone is a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Both, rear and front cameras have Sony stacked CMOS sensors. This smartphone offers 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options. The device houses an enormous 3,080 mAh battery.

Samsung is continously launching great tablets this year. They had launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab A barely a month ago and now they have just launched  its  successor Samsung Galaxy Tab A Plus.

The Galaxy Tab A Plus features a 9.7-inch display. On the specification front, the tablet has a 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor paired with 2GB RAM. This  tablet also comes with the S pen. This S pen can be used for calligraphy among other things. The inbuilt storage of the device accounts to 16GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card

The tablet has a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus. There is also a 2-megapixel camera at the front of the tablet. The Galaxy Tab A Plus will offer Bluetooth, Micro-USB and Wi-Fi for connectivity. The battery size of the device is said to be 6,000 mAh (approx), but the exact details of the battery life is still unknown.

The Galaxy Tab A Plus is available for sale in Europe at EUR 339 i.e. approximately Rs 23,750. The availability of the tablet in other countries is to be announced.

Motorola is expected to launch third generation of Moto G smartphone this week in India

Motorola, the American smartphone manufacturer is likely to launch the third generation of Moto G on July 28 in India. The company has already sent out invites for a ‘launch event’.

The Moto G third gen will feature a 5-inch IPS display. The smartphone will be powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor combined with 1GB of RAM, all this on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. The on-board storage of the smartphone will lie at 16GB that can be expanded further via a microSD card up to 32GB. Moto G third gen will also feature 4G network compatibility.

Earlier, e-commerce major Flipkart had reportedly leaked the specifications of the upcoming Motorola’s smartphone Moto G (Third-Generation) with 8GB internal storage. However, Flipkart has deleted the link now.

Microsoft will launch its top-most smartphones Lumia 950 and 950 XL soon

Microsoft has been bringing some great smartphone every now and then. And soon they will be launching their latest flagships in the form of Lumia 950 and 950 XL around the world and in India. The new Lumia flagships are said to launch at the IFA in this September.

Some reports say these phones have been codenamed Talkman and Cityman, respectively. The Lumia 950 or Talkman will feature a 5.2-inch display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution. The smartphone will be powered by a Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 3GB RAM.

A few more specifications have surfaced, which show that the new device will feature a 20-megpixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. This smartphone will come with 32GB memory. The device will also have a 3,000 mAh battery to keep it alive for a day.

Moving on to the next device, the Lumia 950 XL or Cityman will feature a 5.7-inch display. A set of specification like the Lumia 950 is predicted to come in this smartphone. However, this mobile phone will be powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor. Lumia 950 XL would also house a more powerful 3,300 mAh battery.

Both smartphones will support Qi wireless charging. There is also an infrared scanner that will unlock the device in seconds. The smartphones will also feature USB Type-C. These devices are expected to come in Matte white or black polycarbonate. The Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL would be one of the most anticipated launches at IFA 2015. LG has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of LG Max. The new LG Max is the latest offering from the company, which is available in three colour variations. These consist of white, gold and titan. And we quite likes the titan version.

We have been eager to get our hands on the full version of Microsoft Windows 10 and on July 29, it will be available to the world for free (mostly). Yes, if you have a legit version of Windows 7 or 8 installed on your PC, laptop or tablet, then you would be able to upgrade to the new version of the most popular PC operating system of all time for free.

We are eager to see some of the new and hot features on the new operating system. That just might bring Windows back in to the game and fetch glory back to the IT giant. Well, we do think if Microsoft plays it right they can again extend their lead over Apple, Google and other operating system providers like they once did. So what are the features one would be able to see in the upcoming PC operating system? Here is the list.

  • Start button makes a comeback: Windows 8 failed miserably amongst the masses as it was a brand new OS. Most things were changed and the basic essence of a Windows OS was missing. Major problem? There was no start button on it. Microsoft Windows 10 will bring back the start button and menu system that will show live tiles on it as well.
  • Hello Cortana: the virtual assistant comes to life on the OS and one can ask her just about anything. But, the trials will be on and one can see her coming to your Indian PC screens very soon. Probably within this year.
  • Edge Browser: here is a feature that we have been reading about a lot and what reports tell us is that this is the most powerful web browser by Microsoft till date. The browser should be cross platform ready and one can easily use it to browse and read content on it. It should be light on the resources as well.
  • Appy next: the basic idea behind creating Windows 10 seems to be cross platform/screen existence and collaboration. Mails, galleries, music and other apps should be able to run across all Windows 10 platforms. So that you are always connected to the documents and files at all times. One drive should play an important role here for cloud storage. This is something what Apple has already done with its OS and now is the turn of Microsoft Windows.
  • Gaming Delight: good news for gamers. Microsoft Windows 10 would get the Xbox app on it. This will enable multi-player games to be played across devices and screens. Gamers can play multi-player games with each other no matter on what platform they are playing on. PC players can play games with Xbox gamers and vice-versa.
  • Faster boot times: this is something Microsoft has not been able to do with most of its OS’s. And this is something that Apple excels at. The Windows OS load time has been quite off for most of its versions. However, with Microsoft Windows 10 the users might get faster boot up and quick app load times.

Google patents a way to search a video archive of your real-life experiences

Some of the reports indicate that Google now has a patent for indexing videos of your real-life experiences and making them searchable via a device like say Google Glass. Users would be able to record video through a wearable computer and store it remotely for a later search.

A report on Quartz says that in the patent, the wearable device (Google Class) would send its video to a user’s paired phone, which would in turn send the video to a server, where it would be stored. A user can use keywords to search specific instances they want to re-watch. One can then search the video at a later date vie the online database.

On how the search will work, the patent reads, “the method may also include transmitting a query of the user to the server computer system to initiate a search of the history or real-world experiences, and receiving results relevant to the query that include data indicative of the media data in the history of real-world experiences.”

The patent notes, “When the user is determined to be within a popular location, preference manager may automatically turn on media capture without intervention of a user. In another embodiment, preferences manager, may be set to continuously or periodically capture media data for a specific interval of time.”

The media capturing device could automatically be turned on at popular locations, notes the patent. According to the patent, a popular location, would be one where other users have captured media data as well.

Sony showcases its 2015 range of Android Bravia 4K LED TV’s in India

A little birdy had told us some time back that Sony is going to refresh its range of LED TV’s soon in India. Today the Japanese mammoth has finally showcased the complete range of what it plans to bring to in India in the next couple of weeks. The range includes some great LED televisions in the 4K series starting from 43-inches and going up to 75-inches.

So what’s new about these Sony 4K LED televisions? For starters, these TV’s are Android 5.0 Lollipop ready. Users get the latest Google Android experience on these ultra HD television sets that have features like Serial Abtak (app), where users can catch up with Indian TV shows using YouTube linking. Notify Bravia, with this app users can connect their phones to the TV sets and see phone notifications on screen like calls and messages. Games also come alive on these LED sets that have an ARM 7 processor inside with 16 GB ROM’s.

Other neat features include Voice search, Google Cast and access to the Google Play store. A total of 13 TV’s from Sony are going to be available in various shapes and sizes. Most of them are 3D ready too. 3D glasses will be available in the box with the high-end ones. As for the low-end TV’s, one would need to shell out Rs 3K additional per glass. The range starts from Rs 69,900.

All in all a good show from Sony today, 4 of the 13 sets are available right now in the market and more are going to hit the shelves in August and September. Diwali is right around the corner as well and Sony is planning to introduce some good deals for its TV range this season. Deals will include a bundling of PS3 and PS4 with these smart 4K LED flat panels.
