The Chinese smartphone company has announced the launch of its latest smartphone in the country. The company has introduced Poco M2 Reloaded which is a follow-up device of the popular Poco M2 smartphone which was launched in India last year. The brand new smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 SoC. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery. In addition to this, there is a quad rear camera set up that includes a 13-megapixel primary shooter. The device will be offered in two colour options of Pitch Black and Slate Blue. The smartphone is now available for purchase via the e-commerce website Flipkart in the country. As for the launch offer the company will be offering 5 percent cash back on Flipkart Axis Bank credit cards. In addition to this, there will be 10 percent off on Bank of Baroda Mastercard debit cards on the first transitions. Facebook-owned photo and video-sharing social networking service, Instagram will add a new feature to prevent harassment in direct messages (DMs). This feature is in line with the company’s commitment to preventing child abuse for which it may soon release a platform for kids under 13.
Why does Instagram want to include the new feature in direct messages?
Instagram has been resolving issues raised by communities across the globe regarding bullying, women safety, and child safety. Recently, some football players in the UK complained regarding the racist comments they received as direct messages in the app. The DM section does not offer automated tools to filter messages as offered by the comment section. As a result, the company wants to check the usage of the app for harassing others via direct messages. Instagram will add features to filter message requests and even block the senders.
This is not the first time Facebook has stood against harassment. To prevent harassment of children through the Instagram app, Facebook has been working on a platform for kids under 13. The company has created a new team to develop a dedicated version of Instagram for kids. This platform will be launched as a separate application offering parental control features and strict regulations against the collection of kids’ data. Instagram’s terms of use permit only people above 13 to create an account. The company does not want the children to get deprived of the positive aspects of social media.
How will Instagram’s new anti-harassment feature of direct messages work?
Instagram’s new feature will allow the users to block requests from users that they find to be rude, abusive, or harassing. Moreover, they can block the senders to prevent all messages requests in the future. The app will enable the users to preemptively block new accounts that may be created by a particular sender. This step will defeat the efforts of those users who target others using multiple accounts.
Instagram may also add a new tab to keep message requests from those users who he/she does not follow. This feature will keep the chats separate from message requests. Only when the user accepts a request, will it appear in the messages. Instagram may also add a filtering tool to automatically hide message requests carrying offensive text or emojis. Facebook has collaborated with anti-bullying organisations to develop a dictionary of offensive words for automated filtering of message requests. The users may customise the library and add their own words that they perceive as offensive.

Instagram is also planning to test a new feature that will offer the users an option to hide the like count on their posts. The company had been planning to introduce such feature on Facebook as well as Instagram for the past two years. According to Instagram, “Starting today, we’re expanding our test of private like counts globally. If you’re in the test, you’ll no longer see the total number of likes and views on photos and videos posted to Feed unless they’re your own”.
Instagram will soon get a new feature by which users will be able to save their Story as a draft. The new feature will prompt the users with a pop up when they cancel their Stories. The users will have the choice to either discard the Story, save it as a Draft, or continue with the Story design process. Once saved, users can resume designing their Stories from where they left off.

Apple has confirmed that the new iOS 14.5 shall be rolled out starting next week i.e. April 26, 2021. The new update is expected to come with several new features. These include app tracking transparency, unlocking the iPhone with the mask on, and the AirPlay support for Fitness+.

Unlock the iPhone with the mask on
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the face mask has become an essential gear to wear. However, it obstructs the Face ID feature of the iPhone. The iOS 14.5 update will enable the device to recognise you even when the face mask is on provided you are wearing your Apple Watch. To enable this setting, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and toggle the Unlock with the Apple Watch option on. You’ll need to turn on the Wrist Detection feature on your Apple Wach and enable the passcode.
FaceTime and phone call features
The new iOS 14.5 will enable Siri to notify you regarding the incoming calls when you’re wearing your AirPods. Moreover, Siri will read out the messages in your AirPods. To make calls to emergency contacts, you will just need to say “Siri, call my emergency contact”. Siri will also support group FaceTime calls. You may provide the list of contacts that you wish to include in the FaceTime Call. You will have the flexibility to ask Siri to call a particular group in iMessage.

Apple iOS 14.5 will come with an updated version of Siri that will offer two new voices. Instead of providing the default female voice, users will be asked to choose the desired voice for Siri. To switch Siri voices on your iOS device, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Siri Voice and select the one you want to set.
According to Apple, “We’re excited to introduce two new Siri voices for English speakers and the option for Siri users to select the voice they want when they set up their device. According to reports, the Apple iOS 14.5 will come with a stringent according to which, applications shall demand permission from the user to use factors that identify a device like a device model, fingerprint, and IP address.
Apple recently refused several applications from being placed on the App Store including Radish Fiction, Heetch, and Innovated Games. The company has also informed the rejected application developers that their application utilised sensitive information for profiling and user-tracking.
Stream Fitness+ using AirPlay 2
The new iOS 14.5 update will allow you to cast your iPhone or iPad to a TV using the AirPlay 2. You’ll be able to view your workout schedules on any display compatible with AirPlay 2. However, you will be able to view the Apple Watch metrics on your iPhone or iPad but not on the larger screen.
