Poco today announced the global debut of Poco M5. The device has also been introduced in the Indian market. The device comes with a 90Hz display and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Redmi is all set for a new release in India. The company has announced that Redmi A1 will be launching in India on September 6. Ahead of the official release, a dedicated microsite has also been created highlighting the key features of the upcoming smartphone. Asus is a Taiwanese brand name that is synonymous with great gaming laptops, business notebooks and graphics cards. Out of their gaming laptops range we got to play around with the latest Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 notebook. This is its review and let’s deep dive into it.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop review: Design and Display

Out of the box, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop does seem slimmer than its previous version. Even though it packs heavy-weight machinery inside, the gaming notebook is light on weight. Some elements such as the AniMe Matrix screen (with over 1440 LEDs) on the lid make a comeback. This can be customised as per the users liking and almost any type of graphic can be played on it. This does give you a sense of your individual taste and ownership. But remember keeping it on, will consume more battery.
Moving ahead, the users get a fairly large keyboard with a large trackpad when you open it up. The keyboard is RGB backlit, and you can play games using it with ease. The key travel distance is minimal, so you can quickly capture that flag or hit the enemy with absolute comfort. The Keyboard also has all the required multimedia keys that also double up as the Function keys along with a dedicated Asus Armory Crate key and volume buttons. The power button is also placed separately on the top. Asus-ROG-Zephyrus-G14-keyboard With the large keyboard users also get a big trackpad. This is very comfortable to use and responds well to every click, swipe and tap. Since it is a ROG laptop, the trackpad does not double up as the NUM Pad, which is the case with the ZenBook series from Asus. Moving to its display, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop comes with a 14-inch FHD+ WUXGA screen with anti-glare finish on top. It has a refresh rate of 144Hz and a 3ms response time, which is common among the latest laptops. But what is not common is the Dolby Vision HDR support that is there in this machine. We spent long hours with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop, watching movies on Netflix and shows on Amazon Prime. We played games like PUBG, DOTA 2, CS: GO and more and not once did it give us a chance to feel that the colours are out of place. The blacks are deep and the display does perfect justice to any type of video scenario. Video modes can also be controlled using the Armour Crate software. As for the ports, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 gaming notebook comes with two USB 3.2, two USB Type-C gen 2, one HDMI, one audio/mic combo and a MicroSD card reader located on the left and right sides. Over that, the machine also sports quad speakers. Two are upward-firing speakers located just above the keyboard and two are downward-firing speakers that are located at the front bottom. These are tuned by Dolby Atmos and the sound is very very good with them. We would not be wrong if we call them twice as loud over the last generation of G14 by Asus. speakers

Moving on to the performance of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop, let’s quickly get the tech specs out of the way. When it comes to under-the-hood performance, this gaming monster has the absolute latest and best. Asus has put in AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU with 8 cores and clock speeds up to 3.3GHz. With that, users get 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, whooping 32GB DDR5 RAM and AMD RADEON RX 6800S with 8GB GDDR6 memory on board. Triple band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 have also been thrown in the mix. tech-specs-2 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Together, the machine can put some of the best gaming computers shy away in shame. Asus has managed to put so much firepower in such a small form factor. To put it to the ultimate test we played Battlefield 2042 on the machine at the highest settings and to our amazement, it performed just right. The company has put in a twin cooling fan with a larger vapour chamber that tries to keep the laptop as cool as possible. They have even used liquid metal on top of the chips. This does keep the heat less, but still at times after a long duration of gaming, the laptop does get warm. So, best to game on it in lower temperatures or when the air con is on when you want to game for a long time. For ergonomics, the ergo lift hinge makes an appearance in the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop as well. This is great if you want to type or game. Over that, the display can swivel back 180 degrees. A 76WHrs 4 cell Li-Ion battery has been installed in this gaming laptop, which does manage to keep it alive for over 4.5 hours when you are not gaming. But the battery life drops down to under 1.5 hours when gaming. Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 back But hey, most of us will not be gaming on it without using the power supply (240W). Which, can fast charge it to 50% in under 30 minutes. On the flip side, this machine is very luggable at just 1.72Kg. Many would just want to pick it up as a work cum gaming buddy on the fly. For the OS needs, Windows 11 Home edition is what users will get. We were hoping to see the Pro version in it. Also in the box, you get a nice ZIP pouch to carry it around. And lastly, it is available in two colours – white or black. You can pick the one you like the best.

Verdict

All in all, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 laptop surpassed expectations and it is very suitable for on-the-go gamers or people who want the best performing laptop for their work as well as gaming needs. Yes, a 14-inch screen for some might be a bit small, but it does have an HDMI port so you can connect it to a larger screen and play away. So at Rs 1,91,990 does it make sense to buy this machine? If you are looking for extreme gaming performance or are into video editing on the go, this machine will serve you well. If you can afford it, buy it.

The USB Promoter Group announced the USB4 Version 2.0 specification. It will handle up to 80Gbps data transfer rates using a USB Type-C cable and connector. According to the company, with this improved level of data throughput, the USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USBPD) specifications will also be modified and will be made public before the November 2022 USB Developer Days event. In order to make maximum use of the increased available bandwidth, protocol modifications are also being made to enable faster speed USB 3.2, DisplayPort, and PCI Express (PCIe) data tunnelling. We have been using the Poco F4 as our everyday driver for over a month now. It is the successor to the incredibly strong and versatile smartphone Poco F3, which was introduced in 2021 but was not introduced in India. The Poco F4 has arrived, and we believe there are high expectations for it. It definitely has the potential to compete with its opponent in this price range given that it has a starting price of Rs 27,999. In the Poco F4 review, we discuss all of our experiences, and what we thought Poco might have done to improve. Let’s get into it below.

Poco F4 Review: Design and Display

The Poco F4 design is similar to the Redmi Note 11 Pro and several current Vivo phones. The plastic frames, boxy form, and glass panels are all comparable. The grip is also fairly great because of the build, which also makes the in-hand feel quite comfortable. It has square edges and a flat form factor. The phone appears to be light and compact, and unlike other Poco phones, it does not sport a significantly large camera module. It has a very minimalistic design that is really attractive. Poco F4 Review: Design and Display The Poco F4 lacks a headphone jack, but the business offers a 3.5 headphone dongle in the box. Along with a volume rocker, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor is integrated inside the power button. The fingerprint sensor functions properly. But considering its cost, we would have appreciated an in-display sensor. We also observed that the vibration strength was somewhat skimpy. The contrast is excellent, the colours are vibrant, and the touch sensitivity is excellent. Even outside in the direct sun, we have not experienced any problems with brightness levels. While the auto brightness sensor performs excellently, the display is also loaded with many features.  Poco F4 Review: Design and Display As we’ve already mentioned, the E4 panel is supported by MEMC. (For those who don’t know, MEMC is a feature that artificially increases the overall number of frames in a scene, making the content you’re seeing look smooth. It does this by artificially adding frames in the middle of two other frames.) We had a terrific time using this phone to listen to music because of its dual speakers, which sound great. It is a really pleasant experience to watch content on this screen because they are loud, the voices are clear, and there is no distortion at the greatest volume.

Poco F4 Review: Performance and Cameras

The performance on the Poco F4 is up next, and it was rather fascinating. Poco F4 5G’s Snapdragon 870 SoC and up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM are its power sources. The device offers UFS 3.1 storage with a maximum capacity of 256GB. This is the same chipset that was used on the Poco F3, which was unsuccessful in entering the Indian market. The highly dependable Snapdragon 870 chipset delivers quick performance on phones in the upper mid-range price range. Poco F4 pros and cons Almost all difficult tasks can be handled with Poco F4 without any problems. Call of Duty plays without a hitch at mid-high settings, and even playing graphically demanding games is not a problem. The phone does become warm, but that is not much of a problem because it comes with a new vapour chamber that is doing a pretty good job here. So our gaming sessions with the Poco F4 were top-notch. The Poco F4’s operating system is Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top. We occasionally experienced UI stutters while using it, but nothing that can be called as a con. review of Poco F4 The smartphone has three back cameras. First with a 64-megapixel main sensor and optical image stabilisation (OIS), and an f/1.8 aperture. The camera setup also includes an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies and video calls, it also boasts a 20-megapixel front camera sensor with an f/2.4 lens. review of Poco F4 OIS enables the 64-megapixel primary sensor to produce extremely sharp photos.
