Meta experimenting with new controls that will allow Facebook users to customise content in their news feeds
Meta has begun testing multiple new controls for a better user experience on the popular social media platform Facebook. The new controls will allow users to customise content in the news feeds. In addition to this, a new Topic Exclusion for business customers is also being tested on the platform with which the advertisers can run English ads.
While introducing new controls Facebook commented, “Today, we’re introducing a number of controls designed to give people and businesses the ability to tailor their News Feed experience. We are also announcing plans to collaborate with third-party partners to develop a brand suitability verification tool for News Feed.”
In order to make it easier for people to find and use News Feed controls to change their ranking preferences and customize their News Feed. People can now adjust the amount of content they see from their friends, family, Groups, and Pages, as well as the topics they care about, in their News Feed Preferences.
In addition to this Facebook is also making existing controls like Favorites, Snooze, Unfollow, and Reconnect more accessible. This will be accessible to a small percentage of people in countries around the world and gradually expand in the coming weeks.
“This is part of our ongoing efforts to give people more control over their News Feed, so they see more of what they want and less of what they don’t. As we test and learn, we’ll keep you updated on our progress.”
As mentioned earlier Facebook is also extending the Topic Exclusion controls for the News Feed test to a select group of advertisers who run English language ads. The advertiser topic exclusion control allows an advertiser to select a topic to help define how the ad will appear on Facebook, including in News Feed.
Advertisers can choose from three different topics: news and politics, social issues, and crime and tragedy. When an advertiser chooses one or more displayed topics, their ad will not be di people who have recently engaged with those topics in their News Feed.
In Ads Preferences, users using the app will be able to control how advertisers can reach them. This includes whether or not they are included in the three topics for Topic Exclusion controls for News Feed.
These features are said to arrive by the first quarter of 2022 with the update.

Infinix Hot 11S Review: A very good low budget smartphone
The Infinix Hot Series is one of the most popular lineups in Infinix’s portfolio, and we’ve got our hands on the new Infinix Hot 11S this time. Despite being a low-cost smartphone priced under Rs 10,000, the device has a large display and a powerful Helio G88 chipset. So, here’s our take of the Infinix Hot 11S.
In terms of aesthetics, the camera module is slightly raised, which means it could be scratched if placed on a flat surface. On the back, there is a fingerprint sensor that is both fast and accurate.
The volume rocker is positioned a little higher than we would prefer, making it difficult to reach with one hand. While the power button is placed below it. The buttons on the side could have been placed more strategically. A SIM tray and microSD card slot for storage expansion is located on the opposite side of the frame. On the device’s bottom are a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type C port and a downward-firing speaker.
It is a large phone, but it is not bulky and is very well designed, and ergonomic. In terms of display, the Infinix Hot 11S has a 6.78-inch full-HD+ LTPS LCD display with a resolution of 1,080×2,480 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It has a 180Hz touch sampling rate, 500 NITS brightness, and minimal bezels on the screen with a 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. Because it has a regular FHD+ IPS LCD, you will notice a lack of sharpness. But aside from that, the display quality is quite good with moderate brightness, slightly over-saturated colours, and good viewing angles. At times you might notice a bluish tint.
At the top, you’ll notice a flash for the selfie camera, which is located on the right side of the earpiece and also lights up while charging.
The touch response is good too, so all in all, it’s a pretty good display for the price.
The Hot 11S, like all other Infinix devices, comes with an XOS 7.6 skin on top of Android 11. The issue with this operating system is that it comes with a lot of bloatware, and you will be bombarded with notifications and advertisements on a regular basis. The only way to disable this is to disable the app’s notification altogether.
With that said, let us now discuss the camera’s performance. The Infinix Hot 11S features a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50 MP AI triple rear camera with the widest f/1.6 aperture and quad-LED flash, a secondary lens with a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens. The smartphone has an 8MP front-facing camera with an f/2.5 aperture for selfies.
In daylight, the primary sensor captures details with good sharpness levels. The colours are also good and appear natural. The images appear bright and slightly oversaturated in some cases. Given the camera resolution, the dynamic range is adequate.
This phone lacks an ultra-wide camera as well as a macro lens. We did, however, attempt some close-up shots, which turned out well. Images look good in this price range, and the hues look natural and vivid in good lighting. Sharpness levels are also satisfactory. Aside from that, there is a 2MP depth sensor that produces portrait shots with natural skin tone, good details, and sharpness levels. The edge detection appears to be flawless as well.
The low-light images were surprisingly good too. We were not expecting them to be this good, especially in this price range. With minimal noise and a high level of detail, perfect shots can be obtained. In low-light situations, you can activate the night mode, which did a wonderful job for us.
In terms of the selfie camera, the overall quality of the selfies appeared natural, with close to life skin tone and details. Sharpness and dynamic range are also ideal on the Infinix Hot 11S. There is a portrait mode for selfies, that works well, but falls short of perfect edge detection.
There is a down-firing speaker that is loud enough and even better than what is found on other smartphones these days.
Infinix Hot 11S comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support. The battery endurance is impressive; we were able to get a full day of battery life while watching YouTube videos, gaming, web browsing, and scrolling through social media accounts.
Infinix Hot 11S design and display
To begin with, the Infinix Hot 11S has a plastic body with a textured design that changes hues when seen at different angles. It is more prone to fingerprints and smudges due to its glossy back. Fortunately, the company includes a clear case inside the box.
The touch response is good too, so all in all, it’s a pretty good display for the price.
Infinix Hot 11S Performance and Camera
In terms of performance, as previously stated, the Infinix Hot 11S is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 SoC with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and a 64GB storage option. A microSD card can be used to expand the internal memory up to 256GB. The Helio G88 is an excellent chipset for low-cost smartphones, and it is also available on Redmi 10 devices. During our normal testing, we encountered no hiccups. Surprisingly, the device performs well at multitasking with only minor lags. Similarly, we were pleased with the gaming performance. COD Mobile runs smoothly with medium graphics and a high frame rate. While playing Asphalt 9 at high graphics settings, we noticed some frame drops. Infinix has included a gaming dedicated game mode to improve gaming performance.
The Hot 11S, like all other Infinix devices, comes with an XOS 7.6 skin on top of Android 11. Conclusion
To summarise, the Infinix Hot 11S is an outstanding budget smartphone. This phone is even less expensive than the Redmi and Poco devices. Except for the bloatware that comes pre-loaded on the device, we faced no performance issues. So, if you’re on a tight budget but still want a good smartphone, the Infinix Hot 11S is a great choice. D-Link has been a name long associated with computer peripherals including and most commonly with internet routers. They have been upping the ante year on year and the latest from their arsenal is D-Link AX1500 smart router R15, which we got our hands on recently. This is the D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 review that you must read if you are in the market looking for a fast speed Wi-Fi 6 ready internet router.
Over that, the D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 also has smart AI mesh, AI Traffic optimisation as well as AI parental control features. The parental control can be set up using the D-Link admin panel, which can be accessed via the Eagle Pro AI app or by simply typing 192.168.0.1 in the laptop/desktop browser window and inputting the password. Up to 12 profiles/devices can be set up and you are in full control of what your child is consuming. You can block access during bedtime and set a schedule when your young one is able to access the internet on his/her device.
The D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 supports up to 1500Mbps speed, we tested it out with seven devices simultaneously connected on Wi-Fi and one on Ethernet using Act Fibrenet 300Mbps internet plan. Not once did the router give us trouble. The Internet connectivity was smooth all across. Even when the wirelessly connected device is 50 feet away from the router with 2 walls in between, we were able to stream our favourite shows on it effortlessly.
Thanks to Wi-Fi 6 the gaming experience became much better too. The latency on Wi-Fi was low on our gaming system and also there was no packet drop, which we faced on our previous router. So if you are a gamer the D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 is highly recommended. Also, there is guest mode present on the router too. In case you want an external source/person to connect to it, not giving them the password for the primary connection is a good thing. In guest mode, you can set data speed as well as Wi-Fi quality for them.
D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 review: Design
Out of the box, the D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 looks very modern and nice. You rarely come across a white modem, and we have to say this one certainly looks dashing in pearly white colour with a hint of baby blue at the bottom. Honestly, this router seems to be an extraction from a Sci-Fi movie. You get 4 antennas and 4 LED lights upfront to show power, internet, 2.4GHz wireless and 5GHz wireless connectivity. There are a lot of vents on the D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 to keep it cool, as the router needs to be on 24×7. swing it around you will get to one node to internet-in, three Ethernet out and a power port. There is no power on/off button on this modem. So if you want to do that, either you unplug the supplied adaptor or switch off/on the main supplies from the wall socket. A WPS button is also given on the rear port panel.
D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 review: Performance
Moving from the design to its performance, this is one of the best internet routers available in the market, which will not burn a hole in your pocket. You can use it as an extender too. It supports over 1,000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN and LAN. With that, users get WPA, WPA 2 and WPA 3 Wi-Fi security on the D-Link AX1500 smart router R15. Setting up does not require you to be a rocket scientist. You can set it up n 5-10 minutes. Just keep the internet service providers supplied username, password and other credentials handy with you. Download the Eagle Pro AI app and it will take care of most of the things for you. Which incidentally is one of its best features. Yes, the router is AI-ready and one of its capabilities is to provide your devices with fast stress-free signals. So how does that work? Well, it is smart, it has two bandwidths 2.4G and 5G and it knows how many devices are connected to each. So, it automatically decides, and load balances each bandwidth stream. For example, there are 3 devices on 5G stream and 1 on 2.4G. Now you are connecting another device, which it knows would want to consume more bandwidth like your mobile phone or a laptop on which you will consume Netflix content. It will automatically move the new device to a free/less congested bandwidth, so you get an uninterrupted signal on all devices.
Verdict
The D-Link AX1500 smart router R15 can connect up to 128 devices simultaneously, which is a very good thing for the ever-growing household internet eco-system. Everything from the smart doorbell to your smart fridge requires Wi-Fi connectivity. So, this makes up for a future proof choice too. For best connectivity try to place it in the middle of the house, eliminating the need for any repeaters. We tested it out in a 250 square yard diameter and to our surprise, it worked really well, even when you are on a floor above or below it. Also, users can reduce the Wi-Fi transmission range to reduce any electromagnetic radiation effects and schedule access hours. So at night the Wi-Fi can go off and come back up automatically in the morning. And lastly, it boils down to the price. At Rs 3,099 (on amazon) this Wi-Fi router is a steal. You get so many intelligent AI features and superb Wi-Fi 6 range. This is a great router to own in your household or work area.Pros

Tech giant, Google, has rolled out the current stable version of Chrome 96 browser globally. The latest version was under beta testing for quite a long time and is out for everyone. So, now your browser will be faster with back and forward navigation, but it will use more of your system’s RAM.
Google Chrome 96 has been introduced on all platforms. In addition to the faster performance, the new chrome browser will bring improvements to the desktop version. Take a look at what’s new with Chrome 96.
Desktop backwards-forward cache
With the release of Google Chrome 96, your desktop browser will now have support for the backwards-forward cache. Before the browser button felt sluggish at times but now it has been improved with this functionality that instantly saves sites you have recently visited on your device.
Like we said earlier this will use more of your system’s RAM, therefore, making it swift and ends up saving a significant amount of time that you would otherwise usually spend when switching between websites, but not all websites are fully compliant with this.
Desktop improvements for progressive web apps (PWAs)
Google Chrome 96 is improving the Progressive web apps (PWAs) on desktops by allowing web apps to register themselves with custom URLs. In practical terms, URLs for web apps like Twitter can now open in the Twitter PWA instead of your web browser. Note that Google is also operating effectively for developers by adopting Mozilla’s approach to naming and registering web apps on Windows and Linux systems.
Optional dark theme for each site
Google has also added a very interesting feature, that is now one can enable chrome:/flags/#darken-websites-checkbox-in-themes-setting flag. When you activate this you will notice a new checkbox in the overflow menu while using your system-wide dark mode permitting you to switch between different Chrome’s custom dark themes on every site.
Site accessibility zoom
Accessibility site zoom is yet another enhancement from Google Chrome 96 brought to the mobile platform. It explains the option to set a page zoom level on a site by site basis, which is just similar to how we do it on the desktop Chrome by selecting Zoom from the three-dot menu.
Nevertheless, on mobile Chrome, it remains hidden behind a badge. After it is enabled, you are allowed to change the zoom level according to your preference by tapping the lock icon just next to the left of the URL.
