With compatibility for Apple’s CarPlay Dashboard and a new app for the Apple Watch, Google has revealed that people using iOS devices can safely and easily navigate with Google Maps right from their car or wrist. The Google Maps app for the Apple Watch will start rolling out worldwide in the coming weeks. On the other hand, Google Maps on the CarPlay Dashboard will start rolling out this week with the next iOS update.
According to a Google blog post, “In the CarPlay Dashboard, you can now switch or pause songs from your favourite media app, rewind or fast forward podcasts or audiobooks, or quickly check calendar appointments without ever leaving turn-by-turn navigation in Google Maps. The information is displayed in a split-screen view so you can get the information you need while keeping your focus on the road,”
Asserting that smartwatches help one stay connected and see essential information at a glance, Alan Rogers and Rubén Lozano-Aguilera, who work as Product Managers at Google Maps, said, “With the Google Maps app for the Apple Watch, you can easily navigate by car, bike, public transit or on foot.”
The Google Maps users will quickly get estimated arrival times and step-by-step directions to destinations they have saved, like Home or Work, and other shortcuts they have designated in the app. For all other destinations, the users can start navigating from their phone and pick up where they left off on the watch.
Meanwhile, Google has launched a new feature called People Cards. These virtual visiting card can help the users highlight their existing website or social profiles they want people to visit, plus other information about themselves that they want others to know. In India, people cards are initially rolling out in English.

Samsung has launched a new ‘Make for India’ innovation called AltZLife that will further enhance your smartphone privacy level. The AltZLife feature will be available to existing as well as new users of Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 through a software update on August 10, 2020.
According to Samsung, Samsung smartphone users can quickly and easily switch between normal mode and private mode (Secure Folder) by simply double-clicking on the power key. The on-device AI function also intelligently suggests moving private content to the Secure Folder.
“An industry-first innovation, this intelligent feature has been designed keeping in mind the inherent need of consumers, especially Gen Z, for enhanced privacy when it comes to storage and access of content on their smartphones. This helps eliminate the anxiety that consumers usually face while also sharing their smartphones with someone,” said Manu Sharma, Senior Director of Mobile Business, Samsung India.
Samsung had launched other AI-based ‘Make for India’ features on Galaxy A series devices earlier this year. This includes Alive Intelligence, which offers Multilingual Keyboard, Smart Crop, Useful Cards, and Finder. AltZLife takes the endeavor forward to make the consumer’s interaction with their Galaxy A series more intelligent, intuitive, and secure.

Quick Switch
Quick Switch helps users in switching between two instances of the same app instantly – one instance in normal mode and the other in private mode. For example, a consumer can easily move between the normal Gallery and a private Gallery; or from a normal WhatsApp to private WhatsApp with a simple double click of the power button. The private versions of these apps are secured by Samsung Knox in the Secure Folder of Galaxy smartphones.
As per Samsung, “When a user double clicks on the power button in normal mode, authentication is required before entering the private mode of the same app. This authentication is different from the normal unlocking of the smartphone. When switching from private to normal mode, no authentication is required. Quick Switch is also useful even if the application does not have dual instances in private and normal mode.”
Content Suggestions
This is an AI-based app inside the Secure Folder, and its on-device AI-powered engine automatically suggests users move private images of pre-selected categories to the Secure Folder. For this to happen users have to simply select specific faces or a type of image they want to tag as private and keep them secured in the private gallery of the Secure Folder.
Once the initial setup is complete, the AI engine kicks in and identifies relevant images from the entire gallery. As this is an on-device AI solution, no information or image ever leaves the smartphone.

For this, the app will allow mobile devices to be connected to your main device later than WhatsApp Desktop. “Note that using this feature, an Internet connection on your device will no longer be needed to use WhatsApp Desktop,” the report added.In addition to this one needs to safely copy their chat history to the second device. In order to keep all the messages synced across platforms all the messages will be delivered to all the devices however the encryption key changes every time when you choose to use or remove a device. All your active devices will be notified when your encryption key is changed.

With reports revealing that Infinix is prepping up to launch its Hot 10 smartphone, now the news is rife that the device is likely to come in two variants. According to Certipedia, certificate number JPTUV-111264 has a certified mobile phone under model numbers X682C and X682B model numbers.
This certificate for Infinix Hot 10 was issued by one of TÜV Rheinland’s four National Certification Bodies (NCBs) on July 16th, 2020. According to GSMArena, The Google Play Console entry for Infinix Hot 10 reveals a render of this device that appears to be in line with the already available Infinix Hot 9. Mind you! The render showcase only the rear side of the Infinix Hot 10 smartphone.
The Google Play Console entry for Infinix Hot 10 further notifies that Infinix Hot 10 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G70 chipset along with Android 10. The handset has a screen resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels along with 4GB of RAM and an HD+ panel.
On the battery front, a TUV Rheinland certification has revealed that the X682C and X682B model numbers will house a 5,100mAh battery. However, no camera details were provided as of now.

The South Korean smartphone company (Samsung) is set to unveil its just-launched Galaxy Note 20 series in India. The launch event is scheduled for August 28 in the country. Due to the COVID-19 crisis in India, the country’s smartphone market registered a sharp year-over-year (YoY) decline of 50.6 percent in the second quarter to 18.2 million units. However, an IDC report revealed the sales had increased in June as compared to the first quarter but the purchases were mainly driven by availability rather than by choice. And Samsung led the overall mobile phone market with a market share of 24.0 percent, followed by Xiaomi and Vivo.
According to an IDC report, “Samsung surpassed Vivo for the second slot despite a strong YoY decline of 48.5 percent in 2Q20 to 4.8 million units. The Galaxy M21 smartphone was among the nation’s top 5 shipped models in 2Q20 and most of its online-exclusive Galaxy M series was opened to offline channels, though at higher prices.” However, Samsung stood in second place in the online channel with a share of 22.8 percent and was the leader in the offline channel with a 29.1 percent share in 2Q20. The brand also partnered with Benow and Facebook, enabling offline retailers to start sales using digital platforms, thus adhering to social distancing norms.
After Samsung, Xiaomi continued to lead with total shipments of 5.4 million in 2Q20 despite falling 48.7 percent YoY. Four out of the top five models in 2Q20 were Xiaomi models, namely the Redmi Note 8A Dual, Note 8, Note 9 Pro, and Redmi 8, accounting for 21.8 percent share. Xiaomi launched its Mi Commerce solution to create an omnichannel experience for partners but also continued its dominance in the online channel with 42.3 percent share in 2Q20.
Vivo slipped to the third position, with shipments of 3.2 million units, declining by 42.9 percent YoY in 2Q20. Though it retained its fourth position in the online channel on the back of its Z/U series, Vivo slipped to the second slot in the offline channel with a 26.5 percent share in 2Q20. The affordable Y series continued to garner the majority of its volumes, though stock issues remained.
Besides this, realme was at the fourth position with 1.78 million units shipped in 2Q20, declining by 37 percent YoY. The vendor faced stock issues owing to factory closures through May. The affordable C3/C2 accounted for the majority of its shipments 36.3 percent, followed by the newly launched Narzo series.
OPPO, securing the fifth position, witnessed a 51.0 percent YoY decline to 1.76 million units in 2Q20. The brand had severe stock issues and even imported completely built units directly in June, as the factory remained closed owing to multiple COVID-19 cases. The same factory manufactures devices for realme and OnePlus, which also faced challenges in stocks. OPPO also launched its first 5G device, the Find X2, in 2Q20.

With an aim to provide people with context to make informed decisions about what they see and how they engage on Twitter, this microblogging & social media network site has introduced new labels to the accounts of key government officials, including foreign ministers, institutional entities, ambassadors, official spokespeople, and key diplomatic leaders. At this time, Twitter has also added these new labels to the accounts belonging to state-affiliated media entities, their editors-in-chief, and/or their senior staff.
Asserting how it defines government accounts for these new labels, an official blog post by Twitter revealed, “Our focus is on senior officials and entities that are the voice of the nation state abroad, specifically the account categories listed above. Labels will only be applied to accounts from the countries represented in the five permanent members of the UN Security Council: China, France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States.”
To bring transparency and practicality, Twitter is initially introducing these labels with a limited and clearly-defined group of countries before expanding to a wider range of countries in the future.
According to Twitter, “We believe this is an important step so that when people see an account discussing geopolitical issues from another country, they have context on its national affiliation and are better informed about who they represent.” Currently, Twitter’s focus is on those within the respective administrations underneath the head of state that offer its policy perspective abroad.
As far as state-affiliated media accounts are concerned, Twitter, “Unlike independent media, state-affiliated media frequently use their news coverage as a means to advance a political agenda. We believe that people have the right to know when a media account is affiliated directly or indirectly with a state actor.”
Furthermore, Twitter notified that state-financed media organizations with editorial independence, like the BBC in the UK or NPR in the US for example, will not be labelled. As part of the development of this process, Twitter consulted with a number of expert groups, including members of the Digital and Human Rights Advisory group in Twitter’s Trust & Safety Council.
Twitter will also no longer amplify state-affiliated media accounts or their Tweets through our recommendation systems including on the home timeline, notifications, and search. Government accounts listed in category one are not affected by this change. To offer even more context to the public, clicking the labels on both categories of accounts directs people to an article explaining the policy and referring them to the Twitter Transparency Report for additional information.
“We’ll notify any account that’s labelled and if the account owner believes we’ve made a mistake, they can reach out to us directly,” Twitter added.
Twitter plans to continue expanding this approach to additional countries over time and look forward to providing additional updates as those plans take shape.
