OnePlus extended warranty across all its product portfolio in India till June 30 amid coronavirus lockdown
The Chinese smartphone company OnePlus today announced the warranty extension on all its products in view of the coronavirus crisis. The company is the latest tech firm to join the warranty extension bandwagon after Poco, Xiaomi, Vivo, Transsion Holdings and Oppo. According to the company, there will be a free extended warranty on all its smartphones as well as accessories until June 30. OnePlus took to its official forum to announce that it will extend the warranty till June 30 amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India. According to the blog post, the company has taken some action keeping in mind the health and safety of its employees, customers, community members, and partners during the current unforeseen circumstances. In order to meet customers’ most urgent needs, OnePlus has promised to provide uninterrupted support by an extended warranty on their products till June 30 in view of the lockdown situation in the country to combat the spread of coronavirus.  The Blog post reads, “To continue providing uninterrupted support during this period, we have extended the warranty for all our products to 30th June 2021 for those with an expiry date between 1st April and 29th June 2021.” Besides this in accordance with Government protocol the firm says that there will be a delay in delivery for recent product orders to certain locations and the company will be unable to fulfil the order, at present.  “Unfortunately, we may not be able to predict the delivery of your order, however, we will ship the order as soon as possible from our end once restrictions ease,” the company also noted in its announcement. This move came after most of the service centre operations are temporarily halted in compliance with Government regulations until further notice. Recently Oppo confirmed to launch Oppo Reno 6 Series in China on May 27. This time the lineup is expected to include three models Oppo Reno 6, the Oppo Reno 6 Pro and  Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ as all the three models have been spotted on certification sites and have been leaked many times. Both vanilla, as well as the Pro variant, are expected to equip MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, whereas the most expensive of all Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ might include Snapdragon 870 SoC. Just a week before the unveiling all three devices have been listed on Chinese e-retailer websites. The listing has revealed the design as well as their key highlights. Oppo Reno 6 Series is set to launch on May 27 in China. The company has not shared any information related to its design or specification ahead of the launch but as per the latest listing by the Chinese e-retailer websites JD.com and Suning websites the design, colours, configurations, and some specifications have been leaked.

As per the listing, Oppo Reno 6 is expected to offer 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with a 256GB storage model. For the optics, there might be a  triple rear camera setup that will include a 64-megapixel primary sensor. Possibly on the front, it would equip a 32-megapixel selfie camera placed inside a hole-punch cutout located on the top left corner of the display. Google Maps is a web mapping platform that offers satellite imagery, aerial photography, real-time traffic conditions, and route planning for travelling by foot, car, air and public transportation and more. At this year’s Google I/O, the tech firm has introduced new and improved features to the app to make make it more accessible. It has announced five new updates so you can more easily navigate, explore and get things done.   Routing updates With the new routing update, Google Maps will reduce your chances of having hard-braking moments like when you are driving and approach a busy intersection, the traffic slows suddenly and you have to slam on your brakes. Maps will now provide you with the fastest routes and identify which one is likely to reduce your chances of encountering a hard-braking moment. It will automatically recommend that route if the ETA is the same or the difference is minimal.  Live View Live View was launched by Google in 2019 and it brings AR to navigation at scale. With the directly update it will be available on the maps interface and you can see helpful details about the shops and restaurants around you, like how busy they are, recent reviews and photos. Additional details like new street signs for complex intersections will be displayed too so you know exactly what road you’re on and which way to go. And if you’re travelling, Live View will tell you where you are in relation to places like your hotel — so you can always find your way back to your home base. Detailed Street maps The detailed street maps feature, which launched last August, will soon be available in 50 more cities by the end of this year — including Berlin, São Paulo, Seattle, and Singapore. This will allow you to see where sidewalks, crosswalks and pedestrian islands are, along with the shape and width of a road to scale. This information can help pedestrians plan the most accommodating route, especially if they’re using a  wheelchair or stroller. Busyness According to Google, over 80 million people turn to live busyness information on its platform for specific places to save time waiting in line and stay socially distanced during the pandemic. This feature has been expanded on to show the relative busyness of an entire area, like whether a neighbourhood or part of town is busier than usual. If it’s Saturday morning and you want to explore your city without crowds bogging you down, open up Maps to instantly see busy hotspots to avoid — like the streets near the local farmers’ market. On the flip side, if you want to check out popular parts of town, use area busyness to scope out lively neighbourhoods at a glance to discover interesting things to do. Customisation Soon Google Maps will be customising map to highlight the most relevant places based on time of day and whether or not you’re travelling. For instance, you live in New York and open up Maps at 8 a.m. on a weekday, we’ll prominently feature nearby coffee shops — instead of dinner spots — so you can start your day with a caffeine fix. Infinix, a Hong Kong-based smartphone company today announced the launch of its latest smartphone in the Indian market. The company has introduced Infinix Hot 10S as its latest addition to its Hot 10 series. The device comes with a 6,000mAH battery and features a 90Hz refresh rate screen. In addition to this, there is a 90Hz refresh rate display and is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. Infinix Hot 10S price and availability The Infinix Hot 10S has been launched in India in two different configurations. The price of the base 4GB RAM with 64GB storage option is set at Rs 9,999. Whereas the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage model will be available with a price tag of Rs 10,999. The device will be offered in four colour options of Morandi Purple, 7-Degree Purple, Heart of Ocean, and 95-Degree Black. The phone is scheduled to go on sale via Flipkart from noon onwards. The company is offering Rs 500 off on the purchase of the handset on the first day of the sale. Google has just officially released the first public beta for Android 12. All the Google Pixel phones and other eligible smartphones have also received the first Android 12 beta 1 build. Also, many of you who have compatible phones have already begun testing out the new Operating System. But unfortunately, OnePlus and Xiaomi have to pull the beta links as their eligible devices encountered bricking soon after the latest beta version of Android dropped. Those who have updated to Android 12 took to social media platforms complaining about the bickering issue. The bricked phone issue is mainly seen in those having OnePlus and Xiaomi devices. OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro both are entitled to receive Android 12 beta 1 build. Whereas Mi 11, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11i and Mi 11X Pro are eligible smartphones by Xiaomi.  However, OnePlus on hearing the complaints from the users immediately pulled the beta download links from its platform. The OnePlus staff member informed about its removal of the download links on the official forum. It stated, “I’ve temporarily removed the download links based on the feedback from users in this thread. I’m sharing the feedback with the software team so they can look into it in the morning at HQ.” On the other hand, the bricking issue is commonly seen on Mi 11 series phones however the complaints are fewer than the OnePlus devices. When the Mi 11 users who are largely affected tried to upgrade to Android 12 their phones were either blocked or bricked whereas some of them made failed attempts to install Android 12 beta. Although Android Police has detailed a fix for the issue. If you are trying to enrol for the early Android 12 beta software ensure that your phone’s bootloader should be unlocked before the installation so as to be able to successfully migrate to Android 12 on both OnePlus and Xiaomi smartphones. If you don’t follow this process before you start installing the beta, your phone will not be able to get past the setup process where the device verifies your old Google account for FRP (factory reset protection). Toggling OEM Unlock in developer options disables this check. While those who have not followed the process of updating without unlocking your bootloader and encountered the bricking issue fret, not that too can be fixed with an EDL restore. This means you need to restore your phone with a factory image using a Qualcomm chipset-level flash. As per the company, it will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery and will have 18W fast charging support. As per the leaked renders, there will be a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a hole-punch cutout on the display. Poco has also confirmed that Poco M3 Pro 5G will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. In addition to this, it is slated to feature a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor. The teasers also suggest that the handset will be 8.92mm thin and weigh 190 grams. LaMDA, Google’s latest advancement in conversation technology: Everything you should know about
LaMDA is Google’s latest research in natural language understanding. It is the company’s latest research breakthrough that will make conversation with machines more naturalistic. LaMDA stands for Language model for Dialogue Applications on which the company has been working for a very long time. With this, the company aims to make conversation between the AI and the user more naturally similar to human beings. LaMDA can engage in a free-flowing way about a seemingly endless number of topics, an ability we think could unlock more natural ways of interacting with technology and entirely new categories of helpful applications. It is an open domain, which means it is designed to converse on any topic.  Unlike other language models, LaMDA is trained in dialogue. During its training, it picked up on several of the nuances that distinguish open-ended conversation from other forms of language. I can engage in interesting conversation about virtually anything. What would you like to chat about? USER: if my washing machine and tv are both malfunctioning at the same time what could the reason be? LaMDA: It could be the power surge from the washing machine may have fried your tv. If it’s a power surge problem it may be time to get a new washing machine. Or a new TV. USER: yeah maybe. btw how many legs does a horse have, and could it fix my washing machine? LaMDA: Horses have four legs. How could they help? USER: you tell me LaMDA: Oh, well they could certainly help you. By moving you to a new home where you could install a new washing machine. In its blog post, Google noted that LaMDA understands quite a bit about the planet, Pluto. So if a student wanted to discover more about space, they could ask about Pluto and the model would give sensible responses, making learning even more fun and engaging. If that student then wanted to switch over to a different topic — say, how to make a good paper aeroplane — LaMDA could continue the conversation without any retraining.    According to Google, LaMDA builds on earlier Google research, published in 2020, that showed Transformer-based language models trained on dialogue could learn to talk about virtually anything. Since then, we’ve also found that once trained, LaMDA can be fine-tuned to significantly improve the sensibility and specificity of its responses.  Right now it is under testing and research is being done to make the machine learning technique more efficient and to bring out conversational flow to an interaction. Moreover we humans also communicate with each other through images, text, audio and video. Google has officially rolled out the Android 12 public beta. At its annual developer conference, the tech giant has officially made the announcement and introduced new features that the next OS will bring to Android smartphones. Google has already released the three developer previews and now Android 12 Beta 1 is available for public beta download for testing. Those interested can now download it to test it out on their compatible phones which we have listed below. According to Google, the Android 12 public beta 1 is available to all the Pixel devices as well as third party smartphones from Asus, OnePlus, Oppo, TCL, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme, and ZTE.  We have listed below the names of the compatible smartphone ready for Adowndroid 12 public beta 1. How to enroll for Android 12 Beta 1?

First of all Android 12 Beta 1 is not a full-fledged or stable version of Google’s next Operating System. The upcoming OS is under testing and this is the pre-release version of Android so as to identify and fix issues and make the platform even better before it is finally released to the public. So the eligible or enrolled devices will automatically receive updates for the latest beta version of Android. It should be noted that if you have previously enrolled in the Android 11 beta programme, you must enrol again to receive Android 12. The previous enrolment does not carry over to the Android 12 programme. As said before the enrolled smartphones will receive the Android 12 Beta 1 through the OTA update. Else you can also check it manually by heading to Settings > System > System Update > Check for update. So before you enrol a word of caution is in order. The updates that you’ll receive as a part of this programme are pre-release versions and may contain errors and defects that can affect the normal functioning of your device. You can opt-out of the programme at any time to return to the stable, public version of Android. When you opt-out of the programme, all user data on the device will be wiped. According to Google, you will not be able to unenroll and revert back to a lower public release version of Android without first wiping all locally saved data on your device. You may also encounter issues restoring a backup. “We recommend reviewing the latest Pixel known issues before enrolling in Android beta” Google also noted. Google I/O 2021: Google released Android 12 beta, brings more privacy features and personalisations for Android phones
At this year’s Google annual developer conference it has not only introduced us to the next generation of the mobile operating system- Android 12 but it has also announced new privacy features for the Android devices that enable apps to harvest data of the users. So with the new features, the company aims to limit apps from collecting data about the users.   Until now Android 12’s three developer previews have been rolled out. At the Google I/O 2021, the tech firm has released the first beta of Android 12 giving us a look into what features the next OS will bring when it lands on our devices. For a more personalised experience, the entire UI of Android 12 has been revamped from colour to shapes, light and motion. Initially, Pixel devices will be the first to be able to personalise their phone with a custom colour palette and redesigned widgets. They can choose wallpaper, and the system automatically determines which colours are dominant, which ones are complementary and which ones just look great. It then applies those colours across the entire OS: the notification shade, the lock screen, the volume controls, new widgets and much more. For instance,  when you dismiss your notifications on the lock screen, your clock will appear larger so you know when you’re all caught up. The entire underlying system is much simplified and fluid by reducing the CPU time needed for core system services by up to 22% and reducing the use of big cores by the system server by up to 15% so that the device can run longer without a charge.  Gif of phone screen swiping down to notification shade to show quick settings for Google Pay and Device Controls. Moreover, the notification shade, quick settings and even the power button have been redesigned. The notification shade is crisper, and playful and provides an at-a-glance view of your app notifications. While the Quick Settings will enable you to control the entire operating system with a swipe and a tap. It’s been rebuilt to include Google Pay and Home Controls, while still allowing for customization. Also on long pressing the power button will invoke Assistant to make a phone call, open apps, ask questions or read aloud text-heavy articles. In terms of Privacy and security Android 12 will include features that give you more transparency around which apps are accessing your data, and more controls so you can make informed choices about how much private information your apps can access. The new OS will now have a new Privacy Dashboard to view your permissions settings as well as what data is being accessed, how often and by which apps. It also lets you easily revoke app permissions right from the dashboard.  Gif of phone screen showing privacy dashboard and opens location usage In addition to this new indicator to the top right of your status bar is another addition by the company so that you know when your apps are accessing your microphone or camera. And if you want to remove app access to these sensors for the entire system, for this two new toggles have been added in Quick Settings. Also to give more control over how much information you share with apps Android 12 has brought new approximate location permissions so as to limit the app from seeing just your approximate location instead of a precise one. For example, weather apps don’t need your precise location to offer an accurate forecast.  Apart from this Google has also built privacy protections directly into the OS. With the release, the company has introduced Android Private Compute Core which will introduce you to new technologies that are private by design and keeping your personal information safe, private and local to your phone. This functionality enables features like Live Caption, Now Playing and Smart Reply. Google noted that the protections in Private Compute Core are open source and fully inspectable and verifiable by the security community.  It should be noted that all these features have been released with Android 12 beta and more features are expected to arrive later this year.
