After Facebook criticised Apple’s privacy policy, the tech giant’s CEO Tim Cook has said that the users should have the choice over the data that is being collected about them and how it’s used. In an official blog post, Facebook spoke in support of small businesses stating that Apple’s new iOS 14 policy will have a harmful impact on many small businesses that are struggling to stay afloat and on the free internet that we all rely on more than ever.
Giving an overview of what Apple is doing, Facebook mentioned that Apple is “creating a policy — enforced via iOS 14’s AppTracking Transparency — that’s about profit, not privacy. It will force businesses to turn to subscriptions and other in-app payments for revenue, meaning Apple will profit and many free services will have to start charging or exit the market.”
Additionally, the Mark Zuckerberg-led company added that Apple is also hurting small businesses and publishers who are already struggling in a pandemic. “These changes will directly affect their ability to use their advertising budgets efficiently and effectively. Our studies show, without personalized ads powered by their own data, small businesses could see a cut of over 60 percent of website sales from ads. We don’t anticipate the proposed iOS 14 changes to cause a full loss of personalization but rather a move in that direction over the longer term,” said Dan Levy, VP Ads and Business Products.
Asserting that Apple is not playing by their own rules, Facebook claimed that the Cupertino-based tech giant’s own personalized ad platform isn’t subject to the new iOS 14 policy.
“We disagree with Apple’s approach, yet we have no choice but to show their prompt. If we don’t, we’ll face retaliation from Apple, which could only further harm the businesses we want to support. We can’t take that risk,” added Levy.

So are high refresh rate monitors really important in Fortnite? Does a jump from 60 hertz to a higher refresh rate such as 144 hertz or 240 hertz or even a whopping 360 hertz make a huge difference? Comparing the differences in the lower graphics settings, the difference between the lower refresh rates and the higher refresh rates is still just as clear!
So this just clears our doubts about a higher refresh rate being better in responsiveness to the lower refresh rates of 60 hertz, though jumping directly to a 360 hertz might be a bit too much as even a modest 144 hertz can be a giant difference maker in your responsiveness, though if you have the extra buck and are willing to spare then, by all means, go for it!

The photo-sharing app owned by Facebook, Instagram today at its ‘Facebook Fuel For India’ virtual event announced that a new version of Instagram Lite is now being tested in India. In addition to this, the second edition of the ‘Born on Instagram’ creator program is also being tested. As the name suggests Instagram Lite is just 2MB in size on Google Play. The new version of this app was first launched in India in June 2018 but was shut down in May this year only. Vishal Shah, VP of Product, Instagram at Facebook, said, “India is such an important country for us and has been a testing ground for innovation, thanks to the natural creativity and entrepreneurial spirit we see here. With the test of Instagram Lite, and the next edition of Born on Instagram, we’re aiming to democratize expression and creativity for a greater number of people in India. We’re also hoping to gain valuable insights before a global rollout of Instagram Lite.”Today Instagram announced extending the test of Instagram Lite to people in India. The app is less than 2MB in size and is said to deliver an Instagram experience that remains fast and reliable for more people. According to a research conducted earlier this year, the company has observed that the one barrier which did not let the user enjoy the core Instagram experience was the compromised internet experience, as a result of low memory phones and heavy-sized apps. This is the reason why the company decided to bring back Instagram Lite and India is a primarily test country for it. The app is made for Android and this new version has improved speed, performance, and responsiveness. The experience is similar to the core Instagram app experience, though there are some features that are not currently supported such as Reels, Shopping and IGTV. The app will be available in Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.Apart from this, the company has also announced the second version of ‘Born on Instagram that will allow the content creators to collaborate and mentorship opportunities. However, this program was earlier announced in November 2019 to discover, grow and showcase creators from all across the country. According to the company its was conceptualized in recognition of the creativity being witnessed all across India and has given a voice to a new generation of creators with a national appeal like Amulya Rattan (@amulyarattan_), Aakash Malhotra (@wanderwithsky) and Dr. Richa Negi (dr.richa.negi). But this time the latest edition of the Born on Instagram 2.0 will bring has been attuned to incorporate the new features on Instagram, especially Reels. Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite will soon get a redesigned user interface update. This brings features such as a simplified Main Menu, Find destination, user Profiles, and voice-first experience with Alexa. To recall both the popular range of streaming devices were launched in September this year and runs on Amazon’s Fire TV OS. According to the company, the new Fire TV experience will be rolling out to both devices over the coming weeks. With the rollout of the new UI update, it brings redesigned and new navigation settings to Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite. The Main Menu will now be shown at the center of the screen to allow users to easily navigate through Home, Find, Live, Library, Profiles and more. One can also search for popular content and watch trailers by clicking up while clicking down to browse expanded rows of shows and movies. This will let you access apps, channels and games with the ability to pin and rearrange the order of your apps so you can easily access your favorites. In addition to this you can now scroll over the app icon to quickly peek at what’s inside and begin playback, or simply jump into the app itself. This feature will let each person in a household access their viewing history, recommendations, watch list, live TV preferences, and select settings, including accessibility features. In order to create an Alexa Voice Profile, press the voice button on your remote and say “Alexa, learn my voice.” Else open the Alexa app on your smartphone and go to more and select settings. From there select Profile and next to Voice tap Create and then hit on Continue. On doing this the Alexa voice assistant will let you use your voice to navigate throughout the UI, just say “Alexa, go to Live” or “Alexa, go to Find.” You can also say things like “Alexa, show me action movies” or “Alexa, switch to my profile.”On the other hand, the Main Menu bar will also be featuring a Live Tab to get access to shows currently on-air or use the Channel Guide to browse for live sports, news, and TV channels. The Television comes with a 55-inch QLED Ultra-HD screen with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels.
