WhatsApp working on an automatic verification method called Flash Call to log in quickly: Report

WhatsApp has been working on another new feature called Flash Call. As the name suggests the functionality will allow users to log into their accounts swiftly while leaving the old verification process of logging into the app via a 6-digit code sent on their phone for authentication. So an alternative to the verification procedure is under development that will be quick as well as easy. The feature will be available in a future update of WhatsApp. According to a fresh report from WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned instant chatting app is developing a new feature that helps users to log into WhatsApp quickly. The feature known as Flash Class is in the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.21.11.7 update.  This is an automatic verification method over call to quickly get verified to log into WhatsApp. The report notes that using the Flash Call feature WhatsApp will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, verifying the last phone number in your phone’s log is equal to the number that gives you the 6-digit code. This automatic verification method is a safe method of login as all mobile numbers are different and one cannot trick.

The company is also said to be working on an introduction for the feature to explain why it needs permission to make and manage calls and access to your phone’s log. As of now the feature will be brought to Android users only and won’t be implemented on WhatsApp for iOS as it doesn’t offer any public API to read the call history. The automatic verification method, Flash call, will be optional. You can go for the old mentioned method of logging into WhatsApp confirming the 6-digit code received via SMS or call. Keeping privacy in mind the messaging app is said to never use the user’s call history for any other purposes. However, it will just compare the last entry from your call history with the phone number that’s supposed to call you. This feature will not be used for other situations as per the report.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Does Your Social Life Need a Boost? Try Webcam Chats!

Just about everyone is signed up for some form of social media these days; it’s a way for them to connect with friends and relatives and find other people with similar interests. Even if you have all kinds of “Facebook friends”, though, how many of them do you actually know? The interactions on most social networks don’t typically go beyond sporadic text chats; even if you have the option to use video calls, that isn’t really a feature that gets used except between people who already know each other in real life. There are millions of potential new friends online, but most social networking sites aren’t set up to allow real friendships to flourish. What’s the solution? Instead of trying to make something happen with only text chats at your disposal, you could use a social networking site like Fruzo, which actually focuses on webcam chatting as a way to meet new people. When you can talk to strangers directly instead of just browsing profiles, you can both figure out if there’s a connection right away. As it happens, meeting people isn’t all you can do with webcam chats; they’re also great for bonding with the people you’ve met online. How does this work, you ask? Just keep reading to find out – once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it out sooner! After the introduction, it’s time to get to know each other a little better. What comes to mind when you think of webcam chatting? Whatever your answer was, it probably revolved around talking – and that’s a pretty good place to start. If you’re at the beginning of an online friendship, think of webcam chats as your crash course for getting to know the other person. What kind of music do they listen to when they feel happy, sad, or angry? Are they a dog person or a cat person? Have they ever shaved their own head on a dare? Sure, you could talk about the same things over a text chat, but it just isn’t the same. With an OMGFun webcam chat, you’ll be able to read their body language, feel their enthusiasm, and establish an actual connection with your new friend. Once you’re ready to branch out, it’s time to get creative! Webcam chats aren’t just for talking – as long as you can take your device along, you could get up to all kinds of awesome stuff. Is the pride and joy of your DIY career sitting out in the garage? You could webcam chat as you work on it, maybe even taking suggestions from your friend. Do you both have a deep-cleaning project you’ve been putting off? It won’t be nearly as unpleasant if you can conquer those closets while webcam chatting. If building some shelving or cleaning a closet doesn’t sound appealing, what about a movie night? Yes, that’s also an option if you want to webcam chat with an online friend. You might not be able to sit on the same couch, but you’ll still be watching the same film together. If you really want to make it feel authentic, coordinate your pizza order – hopefully you’ll both feel the same about the pineapple-on-pizza debate! As you meet someone for the first time online, webcam chats can show you what you’re dealing with almost instantly. Have you ever looked at someone’s profile pictures, and left still wondering what they looked like? Not because the photos were blurry or incomplete, but because of all the special effects and extreme camera perspectives. It’s one thing if someone knows what their best side is, but if one week’s worth of pictures seems to show two different people depending on which photo you look at, there’s probably some behind-the-scenes magic going on. If you decide to go online to meet new friends, you’ll end up meeting a ton of people along the way. This is one area where webcam chats really help you out; unless the person you’re talking with is wearing actual prosthetics, you’ll know that they aren’t misrepresenting themselves using filters or decade-old photos. You may get a few people who really know their angles, but that’s impossible to keep up 100% of the time. The point is, webcam chats help keep people a little more honest. Enough of what other people look like on webcam chats – what will you be projecting to them? In other words, how can you communicate your personality and intentions via clothing choice, background, and lighting? Assuming that your camera quality is already decent, these are the three main variables that you should pay a little attention to before you start webcam chatting. Clothing choice – This is a key part of your personal appearance, so don’t be afraid to wear something expressive. Crop tops or comfortable old sweaters, custom overalls or your favourite pair of second-hand jeans – if you’re wearing something that makes you feel good, this will come across in the webcam chat. Background – The standards aren’t high, to begin with, so don’t feel bad if your house isn’t a Martha Stewart paradise. A good minimum is to make sure there aren’t any huge messes within view; if you can make it look cool, that’s even better. Lighting – Even the most put-together wardrobe and background won’t really matter if the lighting is too harsh, too dim, or coming in from a terrible angle. Natural light is ideal, but if all you have is indoor lighting, experiment with what you have until you get a good result. You don’t want to meet people looking like the grinch just because you chose the wrong light source. Go ahead and spend the time getting it right beforehand, so you won’t have the frustration of bad lighting during subsequent webcam chats. Break out the webcam, it’s time to make new friends! Are you ready to expand your social life? Get out there and start meeting people – you’ll be amazed at how many friends you can make online! Now you can easily avoid bumping into someone on Tinder: Here is how you can block your ex, relatives and colleagues on Tinder

The online dating application Tinder is now rolling out a very useful feature on its platform taking the edge of running into your ex, relatives and colleagues. The dating app has come up with the functionality to block them up by their contact number to avoid awkwardly swiping.  We all know Tinder is an online dating app that allows you to swipe anonymously swipe to like or dislike other profiles based on their photos, a small bio, and common interests. So to avoid this unfortunate run-in during this year’s post-pandemic the platform has rolled out a new feature that allows members to block personal contacts in the app. According to its survey Tinder has discovered that more than 40% of respondents have come across an ex-partner on a dating app. Another 24% have seen a family member or colleague, and one in ten have even encountered their professor’s profile. Awkward. Given the chance, 78% of those surveyed would prefer to not see, or be seen by, these connections on an app. So keeping these cumbersome situations in mind it has come up with the feature. As per the dating app, the new Block Contacts feature will give more control to its member over their experience with peace of mind by helping create a worry-free space for them to spark new connections.  The Block Contacts feature on Tinder will be accessible within the profile setting from where the member will be able to enter their contact which they’d rather not see, or not be seen by, on the dating app. As per the company, if those contacts are already on Tinder or decide to download it later using the same contact info, they won’t appear as a potential match. This feature was initially tested in India, Korea and Japan, members who adopted the Block Contacts feature on Tinder added about a dozen contacts to their block list and now the feature is being rolled out globally.  So if you choose to block a contact they won’t be notified that you blocked them and this will also not affect your existing matches or messages. However, if the contact info you use to block someone doesn’t match the info they used to sign up,  Tinder won’t be able to stop you from seeing each other. The blog noted, “If you opt-in to the feature, we use your contact list so that you can quickly and easily select contacts you’d like to avoid on Tinder. Each time you visit Block Contacts, we’ll pull your list of contacts from your device so that you can pick who you would like to block. When you leave the feature, we’ll only keep the contact information for the people you have blocked (name, email and/or phone number). We’ll use this information to help prevent you from seeing your blocked contacts and from them seeing you (assuming they created an account with the same contact info you uploaded).”

How to block your contacts on Tinder?

First of all, you need to share the contact list from your device to Tinder and then you can block someone from your contacts.
  • Launch the Tinder app on your device.
  • Now click on the profile icon
  • Go to Settings
  • In the settings now scroll down and select Block COntacts
  • Now allow Tinder to access your contacts
  • Under the “Contacts” tab, select people you want to avoid from your contact list
  • Tap “Block Contacts”
It should also be noted that every time you use the feature the app will fetch your contact list from your device so that you can pick who you’d like to block. Whereas when you opt-out of the feature the dating app will only keep the contacts information for the people you have blocked (name, email and/or phone number). Considering your privacy we have also jotted down few more steps to block someone without sharing your whole contact list with Tinder. So here it goes:

How to manually add a contact and block on Tinder?

  • Follow the above mentioned first three steps
  • Now tap on the + icon at the top of the screen
  • Then add the person’s contact info and tap “Done”

Google to follow Apple footsteps and will allow Android users to opt-out of Advertising tracking, later this year

Soon Android users will be capable of opting out of advertising tracking similar to iOS users. The functionality is said to be available later this year with a Google Play Services update. Apple already offers its iPhone users the option to opt-out of being tracked by advertisers to strengthen privacy on its devices. According to the Alphabet Inc. support website, the new privacy option will come into effect in late 2021. When this feature is executed the Android user will have the control to block tracking by opting out of personalisations. The developers will then stop seeing the user’s unique advertising ID if the user restricted tracking and receive personalized ads on their device.  For those who are unaware of advertising ID, it is a unique user-resettable ID for advertising, provided by Google Play services which are used by the developers to track and set out personalised ads on the user’s device. According to the company, the advertising ID gives users better controls and provides developers with a simple, standard system to continue to monetise their apps. So when the feature is enabled it will allow users to reset their identifier or opt-out of personalised ads (formerly known as interest-based ads) within Google Play apps. The company via its support page said, “ Starting in late 2021 when a user opts out of interest-based advertising or ads personalization, the advertising identifier will not be available. You will receive a string of zeros in place of the identifier.” When the update is dropped in the advertising ID will be removed when a user opts out of personalisation using advertising ID in Android settings.  If any attempt is made to access the identifier will receive a string of zeros instead of the identifier. Also, the developers and ad/analytics service providers will be able to receive notifications for opt-out preferences. In addition to this apps targeting Android 12 will be required to proclaim a Google Play services normal permission in the manifest file. As per Google the feature will be rolled out in a phased manner and affect apps running on Android 12 devices starting in late 2021 and will expand to affect apps running on devices that support Google Play in early 2022. The company also assures that it will provide an alternative solution to support essential use cases such as analytics and fraud prevention in July. The feature is very similar to the Apple iPhone called App Tracking Transparency (ATT) that needs users to give direct permission before allowing apps to track them for showing personalised advertisements.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
