Usually every year the Cupertino, California based company Apple unveils its latest iPhone series in September. From iPhone 5 to iPhone 11 the company has been consistently launching its devices this month, but this time the launch of the iPhone 12 seems to get delayed.
According to a leak, the company is most likely to go for an October launch sometime in mid of the month. While the shipping is expected to begin in the following month, that is November, thanks to the coronavirus the manufacturing and the supply of the devices have been hit by the pandemic.
This time Apple might miss its traditional September launch timeline. According to a YouTuber, Jon Prosser Apple might launch its upcoming iPhone 12 series starting October 12. Typically, the company announced its next generation of iPhone on Tuesdays only so the launch can be expected on October 13 as this day falls on Tuesday only. While the pre-order might begin in the same or the following week. He also touts that the shipping of the iPhone 12 from the week starting October 19. If this leak is believed to be true then the company’s 2020 launch event will be disrupted as the production and the supply of the handsets have been upset.
However, the YouTuber has not revealed the exact reason but he suggests that the shipping of the iPhone 12 Pro is expected to begin in November. He also mentions that the pre-order and availability are not going to begin as soon as November. Also, he did not reveal the precise dates.
Nonetheless, we might see the launch of Apple Watch and a new iPad in September only. The company will not be hosting a separate event for them to release. The company is expected to unveil the devices via press release in the first week starting September 7.
While the iPhone 12 launch event will be held via pre-recorded Livestream video similar to the WWDC keynote. Earlier this year the company did not organise a separate event for the iPhone SE 2020 launch either.
Though there are not enough reasons to prove the delay, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo the company has run into some quality issues, which might be a major reason for the postponement. According to him, the supplier has discovered issues with cracking coatings on the wide-angle camera lens destined for the lower-end 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models. This issue occurred during high-temperature/high-humidity (HTHH) testing.
“We estimate that the low-end 7P wide-angle lens, CCM, and final assembly mass production of the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch aluminum frame iPhone will be in mid-to-late August, mid-to-late September, and early October, respectively. We believe that in the uncertain timetable for [Genius] to solve the quality problem of film cracking, Apple will give priority to purchasing Largan’s low-end 1/2.6” 7P wide-angle lens at least in the initial supply stage to ensure that the two aluminum-framed iPhone 12 can be as scheduled.” he explained.
According to the report, the debuts will be broken up into two stages, with two 6.1-inch models in the first and another two 6.7- and 5.4-inch devices in the second.

During a global back-to-school event, The Anywhere School, by Google for Education on August 11, 2020, Google revealed about the many new capabilities like 7×7 grid view, hand raising option, customized background, that it has planned to introduce in Meet to support teaching and learning no matter where it’s taking place. With these new features, it seems that Google is aiming to take on Zoom.
In a blog post, Google stated that moderators will have options to prohibit participants from joining meetings after they’ve been ejected or after they’ve been denied entry twice. Besides this, there will be end meetings for all participants when the class is finished. The tech giant further revealed that the moderators can also manage to join requests with ease by accepting or rejecting them in bulk. They can even disable in-meeting chat and set restrictions on who can present during a meeting. Furthermore, Google will introduce a setting that requires the teacher to join first.
Moreover, Google has also shared new features to increase engagement with the students virtually. In September, it would be introducing larger tiled views with a 7×7 grid so one can see up to 49 students at once. Additionally, there will also be a collaborative whiteboard with Jamboard in Meet so you can encourage students to share ideas and try creative approaches to lessons.
In the month of October, Google Meet will get blur or replace backgrounds so everyone feels more comfortable during distance-learning classes. Mind you! Admins can disable custom backgrounds as needed. Besides this, there will be an option for attendance tracking to see and track which students attended the virtual class. Along with these features, there are breakout rooms so educators can split classes into simultaneous small group discussions.
Later this year, Google would introduce hand-raising to help the teachers identify students who may need help or have a question. Moreover, the Q&A features will also be introduced to provide a way for students to ask questions without disrupting the flow of the class discussion or lesson, and polling to engage students to share their voice
Additionally, Google will launch temporary recordings later this year on Meet, which will be available to all Education customers for free. However, premium recordings will still be part of G Suite Enterprise for Education. With this new feature, any meeting host can record a meeting and share the recording within their domain for up to 30 days before the video expires. Mind you! Temporary recordings cannot be shared outside the host’s domain or downloaded.
“We’re granting continued free access to premium recordings until temporary recordings are available later this year (note: this is replacing the promotion for access to premium Meet features including live streaming and meetings of up to 250 participants that will be ending on September 30th),” said Zach Yeskel, Group Product Manager, Google for Education.
As far as new features that one can expect in Classroom, the Classes page will soon have a to-do widget for students and a to-review widget for teachers. In addition to sharing course join codes, educators can now share a link to join classes with a single click. Link-sharing allows educators to share classes anywhere they communicate with students, including in messaging platforms such as WhatsApp. Google also revealed that soon educators and students will be able to run originality reports on Google Slides, in addition to Google Docs, as well as in multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish, Indonesian and Italian.
In order to make Google Classroom accessible to more learners in their native language, the tech giant will be launching Classroom in 10 additional Indian languages. It further added that soon Classroom will support over 54 languages globally; with even more coming in the future.

With the smart-wearable market growing rapidly, brands like Fitbit, Garmin, Tencent, VTech have introduced smartwatches not only for adults but for kids too. Now, the news is rife that Elon Musk’s Tesla is also prepping up to make a debut in smartwatch business too by introducing one for kids.
According to a news report, Tesla is reportedly gearing up to work along with a Norwegian company known as Xplora Technologies to roll out with this much-anticipated smartwatch for kids. Another report by autoevolution notified that a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing didn’t showcase details regarding Tesla’s role in this project. However, Xplore has mentioned the name of Tesla in FCC filing as it is involved in the smartwatch project.
If several reports are to be believed, Tesla is developing this smartwatch for kids in order to enable its driverless cars to pick and drop children to school without a driver. It was further revealed that this smartwatch could be used to instruct the car where to go. Therefore, this will play the role of a car key which can be easily handled by the kids. And when it comes to Tesla, we will surely see some extra-ordinary technological innovation.
As technology can help improve safety, that’s why Tesla vehicles are engineered to be the safest cars in the world. The company believes that the unique combination of passive safety, active safety, and automated driving is crucial for keeping not just Tesla drivers and passengers safe, but all drivers on the road.
Tesla’s Autopilot is an advanced driver assistance system that is classified as a Level 2 automated system according to SAE J3016, which is endorsed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This means Autopilot also helps with driver supervision. One of Tesla’s main motivations for Autopilot is to help increase road safety, and it’s this philosophy that drives its development, validation, and rollout decisions.
Autopilot is intended for use only with a fully attentive driver who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any time. When used properly, Autopilot reduces a driver’s overall workload, and the redundancy of eight external cameras, radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors provides an additional layer of safety that two eyes alone would not have.
Last month, Elon Musk told the Virtual World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai that Tesla will be able to make its vehicles completely autonomous by the end of this year.
“I’m extremely confident that level five – or essentially complete autonomy – will happen and I think will happen very quickly. I feel like we are very close. I remain confident that we will have the basic functionality for level five autonomy complete this year. There are no fundamental challenges remaining. There are many small problems. And then there’s the challenge of solving all those small problems and putting the whole system together,” a BBC report quoted Elon Musk as saying.

With compatibility for Apple’s CarPlay Dashboard and a new app for the Apple Watch, Google has revealed that people using iOS devices can safely and easily navigate with Google Maps right from their car or wrist. The Google Maps app for the Apple Watch will start rolling out worldwide in the coming weeks. On the other hand, Google Maps on the CarPlay Dashboard will start rolling out this week with the next iOS update.
According to a Google blog post, “In the CarPlay Dashboard, you can now switch or pause songs from your favourite media app, rewind or fast forward podcasts or audiobooks, or quickly check calendar appointments without ever leaving turn-by-turn navigation in Google Maps. The information is displayed in a split-screen view so you can get the information you need while keeping your focus on the road,”
Asserting that smartwatches help one stay connected and see essential information at a glance, Alan Rogers and Rubén Lozano-Aguilera, who work as Product Managers at Google Maps, said, “With the Google Maps app for the Apple Watch, you can easily navigate by car, bike, public transit or on foot.”
The Google Maps users will quickly get estimated arrival times and step-by-step directions to destinations they have saved, like Home or Work, and other shortcuts they have designated in the app. For all other destinations, the users can start navigating from their phone and pick up where they left off on the watch.
Meanwhile, Google has launched a new feature called People Cards. These virtual visiting card can help the users highlight their existing website or social profiles they want people to visit, plus other information about themselves that they want others to know. In India, people cards are initially rolling out in English.
Wondering how can you create a People Card? Well, that’s quite simple:
First, sign in to your Google Account
Then simply search for your name or “add me to Search”
Tap the prompt that appears
Now choose to include the image from your Google account
Add a description of yourself, links to your website or social profiles
A user can even add phone number or email address on People Card if they desire. The more information you provide, the easier it is for people to find you.
“Our goal with Search is to always make sure people can find helpful and reliable information, so we have a variety of protections and controls in place to maintain the quality of information on People Cards. Only one People Card is allowed per Google Account, and a phone number is required to authenticate the account,” said Lauren Clark, Product Manager, Google Search.
The Software giant Google today has introduced people cards in India. As the name suggests it is a virtual visiting card on Google search which is at the moment limited to India only. This feature works similarly to how we search for famous people on the search engine to find information about well-known personalities. If you’re trying to find someone on Search, these new cards make it quick and easy to find the right person.
Announcing the feature in India, Google said, it has tried to solve these challenges by introducing a new feature called people cards. According to the company, if you’re a business professional, performer, or anyone looking to build up your own online presence, you might have a website, social profiles, and other information spread across many sites. If you’re just getting started, you may not have a website or much of an online presence at all. Today, we are solving these challenges with a new feature called people cards. It’s like a virtual visiting card, where you can highlight your existing website or social profiles you want people to visit, plus other information about yourself that you want others to know.
When you search for someone’s name and there’s a card available, you’ll see a module with the name, profession and location, which you can tap to see their card. Sometimes people share the same name in this condition you’ll see multiple modules, and the information can help you distinguish between the different individuals to find who you’re looking for. This feature will be helpful for millions of influencers, entrepreneurs, prospective employees, self-employed individuals, freelancers, or anyone else out there who wants to be discovered. The moment this feature is available in India on mobile phones, people cards are rolling out in English starting today.
Then search for your name or “add me to Search” and tap the prompt that appears.
Now to begin creating your people card you need to choose an image from your Google account.
After this, enter a description of yourself, links to your website or social profiles, and, if you want, a phone number or email address.
Only one person is allowed to create a people card per Google account and for verification, you will be asked to enter a valid phone number. In addition to this to protect against abusive or spammy content, the company has also provided a number of mechanisms. According to the company, if you come across low-quality information or a card that you believe was created by an impersonator, you can tap the feedback link to let them know. Also one can also delete their people card anytime if they no longer want it to appear in Search.

Samsung has launched a new ‘Make for India’ innovation called AltZLife that will further enhance your smartphone privacy level. The AltZLife feature will be available to existing as well as new users of Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 through a software update on August 10, 2020.
According to Samsung, Samsung smartphone users can quickly and easily switch between normal mode and private mode (Secure Folder) by simply double-clicking on the power key. The on-device AI function also intelligently suggests moving private content to the Secure Folder.
“An industry-first innovation, this intelligent feature has been designed keeping in mind the inherent need of consumers, especially Gen Z, for enhanced privacy when it comes to storage and access of content on their smartphones. This helps eliminate the anxiety that consumers usually face while also sharing their smartphones with someone,” said Manu Sharma, Senior Director of Mobile Business, Samsung India.
Samsung had launched other AI-based ‘Make for India’ features on Galaxy A series devices earlier this year. This includes Alive Intelligence, which offers Multilingual Keyboard, Smart Crop, Useful Cards, and Finder. AltZLife takes the endeavor forward to make the consumer’s interaction with their Galaxy A series more intelligent, intuitive, and secure.
Moreover, Samsung revealed that AltZLife comes with two features:
Quick Switch
Quick Switch helps users in switching between two instances of the same app instantly – one instance in normal mode and the other in private mode. For example, a consumer can easily move between the normal Gallery and a private Gallery; or from a normal WhatsApp to private WhatsApp with a simple double click of the power button. The private versions of these apps are secured by Samsung Knox in the Secure Folder of Galaxy smartphones.
As per Samsung, “When a user double clicks on the power button in normal mode, authentication is required before entering the private mode of the same app. This authentication is different from the normal unlocking of the smartphone. When switching from private to normal mode, no authentication is required. Quick Switch is also useful even if the application does not have dual instances in private and normal mode.”
Content Suggestions
This is an AI-based app inside the Secure Folder, and its on-device AI-powered engine automatically suggests users move private images of pre-selected categories to the Secure Folder. For this to happen users have to simply select specific faces or a type of image they want to tag as private and keep them secured in the private gallery of the Secure Folder.
Once the initial setup is complete, the AI engine kicks in and identifies relevant images from the entire gallery. As this is an on-device AI solution, no information or image ever leaves the smartphone.
