Coronavirus Impact: The Global smartphones shipment to fall this year by 2.3%, IDC report

The Coronavirus cases seem to be on the rise in every region of the world. Also, this pandemic has severely affected the electronics industry especially smartphones and as well as computing devices. As we all know the major smartphone companies are located in China from where this deadly disease has originated. During this period factories have been shut down that have affected the manufacturing of the devices. The International Data Corporation (IDC) has forecasted that in 2020 there will be a decline of 2.3% in the global smartphone market. In the first half of 2020, smartphone sales are expected to fall 10.6% year-on-year. The huge shortage of components,  factory shutdowns, quarantine mandates, logistics, and travel restrictions is going to be the biggest reason that will create difficulty for smartphone companies to manufacture the mobile handsets as well as its shipment.  The global smartphone market recovery will be impacted in 2020 as uncertainties around COVID-19 increased over the last month.” The report further explained, “The worldwide smartphone market is expected to decline 2.3% in 2020 with shipment volume just over 1.3 billion. The COVID-19 outbreak is expected to stress the short-term scenario with shipments declining 10.6% year over year in the first half of 2020. Global smartphone shipments are expected to return to growth in 2021 driven by accelerated 5G efforts.” The present scenario has given the largest smartphone market in China the biggest hit. The situation is going to start getting better from the third quarter of the year when the COVID-19 situation that is also referred to as coronavirus improves and the 5G plans pick up the pace globally. February and March is usually the time when most of the smartphone companies introduce their flagship products. According to Will Wong, research manager with IDC’s Asia/Pacific Client Devices Group, “For the epicenter, China, we forecast the domestic market to drop by nearly 40% year over year for the first quarter and even with a potential March recovery it will still be difficult to reach last year’s levels.” Furthermore, he says, “Buyers will purchase from online channels, which will account for a significantly increased share of phones sold in the first half of 2020 and may represent a permanent shift in buying behaviors.” This means the pandemic is likely to cripple the Chinese economy. Unfortunately, this will put the burden on the SMEs and we are going to see an increase in the pricing of devices.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Reliance Jio revised its 4G Prepaid data vouchers now offers non-Jio FUP minutes

As more and more employees are shifting to work from home in the light of health concerns due to the coronavirus outbreak. The major telecom companies in India are either offering free internet access at home or revising their regular plans with more data as well as non-Jio FUP minutes. To connect and lure more customers now Jio has updated its 4G data vouchers that will now offer double high-speed data. The upgrade vouchers earlier did not offer FUP minutes but now all the users will get FUP non-Jio FUP minutes excluding Rs 251 data voucher. India telecom service provider Reliance Jio has now upgraded its old recharge pack such as 4G data vouchers. The revived plan will now come with double high-speed data access along with non-Jio voice calling minutes. In addition to this, the company has also revised its old recharge packs except Rs 251 which offers 2GB high-speed daily data valid for 51 days. The telecom operator has also listed the revised prepaid 4G data vouchers on its website. As per the listing, Jio’s Rs 11 voucher will now offer 800 MB of data and 75 non-Jio FUP minutes. Earlier the recharge voucher provided 400MB of data access along with 75 minutes of non-Jio voice calls. In a similar way, Jio’s Rs 21 voucher will now provide 2 GB data and 200 non-Jio FUP minutes.  Prior to the upgrade, the same voucher offered 1GB of high-speed data. Whereas Rs 51 voucher now offers 6 GB data which has been upgraded from 3GB data access along with 500 minutes of non-Jio voice calling. Similarly, Jio’s Rs 101  will be offering 12 GB data and 1000 non-Jio FUP minutes in this voucher.  However, any changes to Rs 251 4G data voucher remain the same. Coronavirus Impact: BSNL launched “Work@Home” broadband plan to encourage people to work from home amid coronavirus spread

The increasing coronavirus cases in India have now forced all the people to work from home. This scenario has automatically increased the demand for internet access as well as broadband connections in the country.  The impact has also shown an increased burden on the telecom operators such as BSNL, Reliance Jio, Airtel as well as other operators also.  Government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has now launched a “Work@Home” broadband plan for its users. The promotional plan will be offering free Internet access to its existing landline customers to support as well as encourage people to work from home. The new plan will be offering 10Mbps download speeds with a cap of 5GB per day. This plan is applicable to all the BSNL landline subscribers across the country including Andaman and Nicobar circle. In addition to this, the plan is also going to provide email ID access with 1GB storage space free of cost. However, the plan is available for the existing landline users but new customers can also get access to this service by activating any landline plan.  On exceeding the limit the users will be able to access the internet at 1Mbps speed. Additionally, the plan has no download as well as upload limits like we mentioned earlier there is no extra cost so you don’t need to pay any monthly charges nor any security deposit. There are also no installation charges. The BSNL Work@Home plan is only valid for one month from the date of activation. Those willing to activate the new plan can dial toll-free number 1800-345-1504. According to a report currently, there is about 19 million fixed broadband that includes enterprise and office connections. Moreover, around 17 million users have home broadband connections. The ongoing coronavirus crisis has now turned the employees to work from home which means all the fixed broadband networks load has been relocated to home broadband networks while impacting the network traffic. The coronavirus impact has also increased the demand for new fixed as well as high-speed broadband connections at home. This has increased the pressure on internet service providers to deal with additional data traffic.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Honor 9X review: An affordable smartphone

The Chinese smartphone company Honor arrived with a new smartphone earlier this year, which was launched globally last year. The company launched Honor 9X at affordable pricing that is also the company’s first smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera. The device is the successor of Honor 8X that was launched last year in India. The company has launched the phone at an affordable price of Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. For the review, we received the 6GB variant. In this price segment, the device is expected to give tough competition to Realme and Xiaomi smartphones. However, the X series is the most successful under the budget smartphone that offers attractive design along with decent specifications. To recall, the smartphone was launched in China in mid of 2019 however it arrived in India this January. To know more about the device read our review of Honor 9X.

Design

Starting with the design, the Honor 9X comes with a notch-less large display. The biggest problem of the bigger display is that sometimes your one hand cannot reach the top and the edges of the screen and ultimately you will need to use your other hand to handle the phone. Also, the phone is a bit heavier, even when it is all plastic built. It comes with a big 6.59-inch LCD FullView display with 1,080×2,340 pixels resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The benefit of a big screen is that you can enjoy streaming videos and movies on it, plus if there is no notch to house a selfie camera the overall viewing experience becomes distraction-free. The smartphone comes with Widevine L1 support enhancing streaming videos with an HD resolution on compatible apps such as Netflix, Amazon prime among others. Honor 9X review The rear body comes with a 3D curved panel with a glossy finish, which is offered in two colour options Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. The phone attracts more dust also the fingerprints are much visible on the Midnight Black variant which we got for the review. The pill-shaped rear camera is located on the upper left corner of the rear panel. The camera set up consists of three camera sensors that have been placed vertically inside it whereas the flash has been placed just below the setup. Honor 9X features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that is quick at unlocking the phone. The company has not provided the face unlock feature on the phone because it houses a motorised selfie camera. So this method will take time to unlock the phone as it has to rise up every time the user asks for face recognition. Like we mentioned earlier this phone is Honor’s first pop-up selfie camera phone, which sits just beside the SIM card tray. On the right side, there is a volume rocker and a power button. At the bottom, you can find a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port for charging and a speaker grille. Coming to the display Honor 9X features a 6.59-inch IPS LCD FullView display which is just perfect in this price point. During our review, the display had an accurate colour as well as brightness and contrast. The smart resolution feature on it lowers the screen resolution to save power when necessary. When used outdoors the visibility of the display was not great under direct sunlight, so this is something Honor needs to work upon in future phones.

Performance And Camera

The Honor 9X is powered by Huawei Kirin 710F processor, which is also provided on its predecessor Honor 8X. This really failed to impress us because it rivals Xiaomi and Realme already offers their devices with the latest processor at very decent pricing. Moving ahead the processor is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128Gb of storage. However, it lacked an upper mid-range processor, the overall experience was fair enough as it did not suffer any lag or slowdowns while loading apps such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. But it could not handle heavy games such as PUBG on higher settings despite having GPU Turbo 3.0 that usually delivers good results. So, in this case, we would suggest you to play the game on the lower graphics settings. We would need to point out here, other smartphones such as Redmi note 8 at this price range deliver better performance.  Honor 9X review: An affordable smartphone The provided software is not the latest but good for the money. The smartphone runs on EMUI 9.1 based on the top of Android 9. Here you get full gesture navigation support, however by default it comes with the standard three buttons on it. Navigation on such a large smartphone will cause a bit of difficulty to bring down the notification panel for people who have small hands. But here is a trick, you can enable it from the fingerprint ID section that will allow you to use the fingerprint scanner to show the notification panel, on a double tap you can clear all the notifications and slide up to close the notification shade, which is impressive. Else it comes with a 4,000mAh battery for longer battery life. We used the mobile phone for a few days regularly, spent a couple of hours watching videos, checking our social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, listening to music and checking emails and it lasted a day. On discontinuous usage, the battery survived more than a day. We really don’t need to worry about putting it on charge or saving the battery to get through the day. It has a better battery life than most in the category, which we have reviewed in the recent past. It never made us feel like, plug in the charger or the phone will die during the day.   The overall performance of the phone is fairly good. However, the cameras left us with a mixed bag of feelings. The Honor 9X comes with a triple rear camera set up that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. The phone clicks pictures with the 12-megapixel sensor on the main camera by default. Here, the white balance and the colours were accurate. You can opt for a full-resolution 48-megapixel image within the settings. Yes, you can shoot in 48 megapixels, but to get to it is a task.
Honor 9X review
12 megapixel
48 megapixel
The shots taken under low lighting conditions were good and detailed. But we discovered that the 48-megapixels deliver good images only when there is good lighting otherwise the pictures were a bit noisy. The shots taken in portrait mode were really disappointing. The camera lens just could not detect the edges and the outcome was not satisfactory. You do get a dedicated aperture mode so that you can adjust the blur effect manually. Over that, there are other camera modes on the phone such as slo-mo, moving picture, light painting and stickers.
With night mode/ Without night mode
We were surprised by the results of the night mode. The images taken under dark conditions delivered good details as well as colours. The main camera was also capable of capturing low light pictures, but we would recommend you take images with the dedicated night mode that delivers good pictures with low noise and perfect colours. The performance of the selfie camera is also average. The Honor 9X comes with a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera, which is a bit slow. We clicked the selfie shots while keeping the AI beautification mode disable because the resultant images with it softened the edges too much. We noticed the same problem when selfie pictures were clicked in the portrait mode. Firstly it over smoothened the skin texture and then again the edge detection was not accurate, it blurred many strands of our hairs and we would definitely not recommend you to use this feature for taking selfies.  Other than that, the device is capable of recording 1080p at 60fps and wide-angle video at 30fps.

Verdict

Honor 9X is a good mid-range smartphone being offered by Huawei at the price point. You get a notch-less screen, a semi-decent camera set up and excellent battery life. A good phone for day to day tasks, however, a powerful processor could have uplifted the performance of the camera because in 2020 it would not be easy for it to compete with other brands at this price range. In the same price segment, Redmi 8 Pro comes with a powerful chipset whereas Samsung M31 is giving a super large battery. So you can pick from these in the range.  Pros A large notch-less display Excellent battery life Pop up selfie camera Cons Camera performance could have been better No 4K video Slow charging For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Instagram confirmed its working on disappearing text messages

Just like WhatsApp now Instagram is also working on the disappearing messages feature on its platform. For quite a long time this feature is under testing on the messaging app. Now some emerging reports suggest that the Photo-sharing app Instagram is also following the footprints of the messaging app. This ephemeral messaging has been inspired by Snapchat’s popular feature in which pictures disappear after a specific time. The ephemeral messaging feature was first spotted by reverse engineering specialist Jane Manchun Wong inside Instagrams’s Android app code labelled “speak no evil” emoji. Wong took to Twitter to reveal how the feature works. According to him the self-destructing messages or disappearing messages work for the users who have enabled dark mode via Instagram Direct message. The message sent automatically gets vanished when the chat window is closed. In addition to this Instagram confirmed that it is working on this feature. A spokesperson in its statement said, “We’re always exploring new features to improve your messaging experience. This feature is still in early development and not testing externally just yet.” Other social media apps such as Twitter as well as WhatsApp are testing the disappearing messages feature. Twitter recently confirmed that its feature will be called “Fleets” In which text messages, photos as well as videos will automatically disappear in 24 hours.
Furthermore, WhatsApp was also spotted testing this feature in two Android beta versions – 2.20.83 as well as 2.20.84. The users will be allowed to set a specific time for self-destructing messaging in their private chats. The messages will be short-lived for a period of one hour, one day, one week, one month or one year which can be set as per preference. When the user enables the feature, a clock icon will appear in the bubble. This was spotted by WABetainfo and it mentioned that the feature is currently disabled by default which is not accessible right now. This indicates that soon the Facebook-owned chatting app might roll out the stable version. Coronavirus: WhatsApp joined WHO, UNICEF and UNDP to launch information Hub to provide real-time information and curb the spread of misinformation about COVID-19

At the moment Facebook-owned chatting app WhatsApp is the most popular messaging platform across the globe and also the most likely target for spreading myths as well as fake news. Right now in a country like India many myths, as well as fake news, have gone viral through the social media platform. After so many efforts this trend of spreading fake messages about coronavirus is on a rise in the country as well as across the globe. To combat this issue the company has now taken a step to fast check the information being spread through their app.  These days false and dangerous news about the coronavirus is spreading widely on WhatsApp at lightning speed. Several fake news, videos as well as recordings have been spreading related to the deadly disease which is responsible for creating panic among people. Health experts, as well as the Government, have issued warnings against the use of DIY hand sanitizers, drugs, and natural remedies being recommended to treat coronavirus-like symptoms. In fact, India is amongst the most likely target to be hit by a wave of fake rumours. Now before trying these remedies or panicking to misinformations, you can now verify these messages before forwarding these to your contacts. The main agenda of all messaging applications or social media apps is to stay connected with your loved ones.  In its blog, post-WhatsApp said, “Think about the messages that you receive, because not everything you are sent about coronavirus may be accurate. Verify the facts with other trusted official sources or fact checkers. If you aren’t sure something’s true, don’t forward it.”  The Facebook-owned social media network urged its users to verify the facts before you forward it to the ones that matter to you the most with trusted official sources such as WHO or your national health ministry or through fast checkers. The company has also created an information hub that is going to provide a trusted source through which the users can verify information about coronavirus. WhatsApp has partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and UNDP to provide real-time information about the disease. The messaging app has now launched The WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Hubhealth for the people seeking information, guidance for health workers, educators NGOs, local governments as well as businesses.  Separately, WhatsApp has also invested a $1 million grant in Poynter Institute’s International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) to put a stop on the rumour mills from spreading misinformation about the virus.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) likely to sport an 8.4-inch screen: Leak

1
If you have been waiting eagerly to hear more about the Samsung’s much-awaited Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020), popular tipster Evan Blass has leaked a new rendering of this tablet device. This latest leak of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) hints that the smartphone manufacturer will fit the device with a 8.4-inch screen along with a FHD+ (1,920×1,200 pixels) resolution. On taking a close look at the leaked image which is circulating online, it seems that Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) is likely to be equipped with two speakers at the bottom of the tablet and one on the top panel. In addition to this, there could be a Type-C charging port at the bottom, a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, and a SIM/MicroSD card tray on the left side of the device. And the Power/ Lock as well as volume button could be placed on the right panel. However, the leaked image of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) reveals no information regarding the fingerprint recognition module. On the camera front, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) carries an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP selfie snapper. According to news report it is likely that this upcoming tablet from Samsung could derive its power from Exynos 7904 SoC paired with 3GB RAM. Meanwhile, Samsung has begun mass production of industry’s first 512-gigabyte (GB) eUFS (embedded Universal Flash Storage) 3.1 for use in flagship smartphones. According to the company, Samsung’s new eUFS 3.1 breaks the 1GB/s performance threshold in smartphone storage by delivering three times the write speed of the previous 512GB eUFS 3.0 mobile memory. “With our introduction of the fastest mobile storage, smartphone users will no longer have to worry about the bottleneck they face with conventional storage cards,” said Cheol Choi, executive vice president of Memory Sales & Marketing at Samsung Electronics. This latest development means consumers can enjoy the speed of an ultra-slim notebook when storing massive files like 8K videos or several hundred large-size photos in their smartphones, without any buffering. Moreover, transferring contents from an old phone to a new device will also require considerably less time. Talking about the performance, the 512GB eUFS 3.1 processes up to 60 percent faster than the popularly used UFS 3.0 version, offering 100,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) for reads and 70,000 IOPS for write speed. The tablet’s official launch date is still unclear, however sources close to Gadget Bridge do tell us it can happen in April of 2020.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ Review: The 2020 flagship all of us have been waiting for

Recently, Samsung unleashed three new smartphones in India. Yes, we are talking about the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra. These are the first set of flagships by the company in the year 2020. They are built to outperform any smartphone in the market as they come with the latest tech specs and style. We got to play around with the Samsung Galaxy S20+ and have been tinkering with the smartphone for over 2 weeks now. Did it impress us? Well, read the rest of our review of the Samsung Galaxy S20+ to know that and more.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ Design and Display

Samsung has been building great smartphones since a very long time and what their designers excel at is making great looking smartphones. This time, however, the theme got a little subtler. There are no flowing edge displays, instead, the form factor has been kept very vanilla, yet appealing. Available in a plethora of colours we got the Cosmic Grey over to our headquarters, which we must say is a very cool colour to own. Moving on, the design of the Samsung Galaxy S20+ includes a metal band running on the sides of the device. This has the power and volume buttons on the right side, while the primary microphone, USB-C charging port and the speaker grille are placed at the bottom. The top part has the secondary MIC and the dual SIM tray. Flip it around and you would get to see an army of cameras. These are situated in a rectangular camera bump, which also has a third microphone for videos along with a LED flash. The rear has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6, which can also be seen on the front.Samsung-Galaxy-s20+-bottom Talking about which, yes, the front of the Samsung Galaxy S20+ also has CG6 on top of a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. The company has also pre-placed a screen protector on top of the display. This is Samsung’s Infinity O display that comes with a selfie camera punch hole in the top middle part of the screen. This does not hinder the viewing much and we could barely make it out when watching YouTube or Netflix videos. Further, the display supports 20:9 aspect ratio, 1,440 x 3,200 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This means the screen can refresh 120 times in one second. So, what does the high refresh rate do? Simply put, the user interface becomes more fluid. However, if you increase the refresh rate, it will use up more battery. Here we used it every day with the 120Hz refresh rate on, so our battery test will be with that, read about it at the end of the article. Moving on, the sunlight legibility of the screen is superb and the character sharpness is top-notch. We loved the gaming experience on the Samsung Galaxy S20+. It does a fabulous job with the colours and the smooth display did give us the edge in games such as Mario Kart and Asphalt 9 legends. Things like edge lighting, blue light filter and edge apps panel also come in this smartphone. All in all, Samsung has built close to perfect flatscreen for this mobile device.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ Performance

To tell you the truth we had a lot of expectations from the Samsung Galaxy S20+ when it was launched. After using it for a while, we were happy with most of its aspects, except one. Can you guess which one, without reading further down? Tell us in the comments if you guessed it right? On paper, the Samsung Galaxy S20+ is a tank. It comes with Exynos 990 chipset that has an Octa-core CPU running at a max clock speed of 2.73GHz. Graphics are provided by Mali-G77 MP11 chip and this setup is partnered with 12GB RAM/128GB storage (with UFS 3.0). A 256GB variant is also available for people who need more storage. So, before anything else, we quickly downloaded benchmarks such as GeekBench 4. It scored 4,757 points on the single-core score and 11,688 on multi-core score. The compute test on GeekBench 4 gave us a score of 8,819.Geekbench-score-Samung-Galaxy-S20+ Jumping on the OS (operating system) side, the Samsung Galaxy S20+ comes packs the Android 10 with Samsung UI 2.0 out of the box. As said, the smartphone comes with a 120Hz screen so it enhances the whole OS outlook. There is minimal bloatware since it is a premium smartphone. The quick settings menu comes down when you swipe down from the top and a sperate app drawer in this smartphone is a boon in our books. The navigation can be either kept as screen buttons or gestures. We personally like the gestures as that makes it more intuitive. Users can go back to the previous screen by swiping up from the bottom right, back to home screen by swiping from the bottom middle and will show all the open apps if you swipe up from the bottom left. Over that, assistant menu floating button can also be enabled that does all this and more. Let’s switch gears and come to the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S20+. The rear panel of the smartphone holds 4 cameras. This includes 12MP wide sensor, 64MP telephoto, 12MP ultrawide and 0.3MP Time of Flight (TOF) camera. We thoroughly used the cameras and this is the part where we got mixed performance. While the images indoors and outdoors in the wide and ultrawide mode were exceptional, we got inconsistent imagery with the 64MP telephoto camera. Some subjects lost sharpness in this mode and colours also were not up to the mark in low light. To turn it on one would need to switch over to the 64MP mode, which only works in 4:3 ratio. Otherwise, you would need to switch to the other two lenses that also support up to 30X digital zoom. Here, (when zoomed) you will not get the same clarity as you will get when zoomed out, but you are able to capture faraway objects with decent clarity. Shots in the night mode also gave us mixed results. While some with less ambient light came out of to be good, the ones that were clicked in absolute darkness lost a lot of details. Skipping over the single 10MP selfie camera of the Samsung Galaxy S20+, we were quite happy with it. The colours were good, the sharpness was nice and there is no shutter lag. When clicked in low light the pictures still came out to better than expected. Videos on the rear cameras can be shot in 8K 24FPS and that is another plausible effort by the company. This is the first by Samsung in any of their smartphones and will give video creators the edge. The quality here is very good and colours pop out more under good lighting conditions. The front camera supports 4K videos at 60FPS and here too we were able to get some fabulous videos. The battery was another aspect we were happy with. Since it has 4,500 mAh battery inside we knew it would last for long. But then when we started discussing the 120Hz display amongst the team, a small sense of doubt did come. Nonetheless, all of it was put to rest once we started using it. We got a full day of battery life with the 120Hz display mode on. Our usage included 2 hours of gaming, a full day of making or receiving calls on the 4G network with WiFi on. This is not bad at all for 4,500 mAh rechargeable cell. The sound of the device is also great. You get twin speakers on it (the ear speaker doubles up as the second loudspeaker), which are quite loud. A pair of AKG headphones are also supplied in the box, that also supply good resonance for videos and games.

Verdict

All in all, at Rs 73,999 Samsung Galaxy S20+ is a winner if you want top-level performance, superb gaming capability, exceptional display and a rather good camera zoom mode. Yes, the 64MP sensor could be better, but going by past record of Samsung they will patch it up in one of the upcoming updates. Frankly, the price did surprise us as the company has kept it competitive. If you are looking for a flagship that can stay with you for the next couple of years and do not want to break the bank, your search ends here. Developers are able to stream assets into PS5 games at an incredibly fast rate, so PS5 play experiences can be seamless and dynamic, with near-instantaneous fast travel through large game worlds.” Apart from this, there is a custom GPU in PlayStation 5. The AMD Radeon RDNA 2-based graphics engine will allow for higher resolution in games. Moreover, the new feature of ray tracing also seems to be interesting. With a variable frequency of up to 2.23 GHz (that is 10.3 TERAFLOPS), the company revealed that ray tracing will render objects much more accurately, and with heightened realism. This means that water, glass, light refraction, a character’s hair etc. will look even more realistic. Moving on to the 3D audio tech that has been designed for the PlayStation 5, Sony has revealed that “the sounds you hear while playing will offer a greater sense of presence and locality. You’ll be able to hear raindrops hitting different surfaces all around you, and you can hear and precisely locate where an enemy is lurking behind you.” In addition to this, an official PS5 blog post has stated that PlayStation 5 users will also be able to play the top 100 PS4 titles ranked by play time owing to the backwards compatibility feature. Isn’t that interesting? There is more good news for gamers as PlayStation Store has come out with a Mega March offers deals up to 50% on a massive sale line-up. This sale has started on March 18, 2020 and will continue till March 30. Gamers can explore and conquer hundreds of titles, including Borderlands 3, Resident Evil 2, etc. Check out the list on PS Store.
