As a part of the launch offers, Airtel is offering 1,120GB of 4G data with unlimited calling. Reliance Jio users who buy the handset will also be able to get double data benefits on all recharges of Rs 198 or above. To avail this offer, all you have to do is to recharge with Rs 198 or above and then, you will receive the double data voucher. After this, you can redeem the voucher by going to MyJio app to get double data in their account. Flipkart is also offering a Complete Mobile Protection that is priced at Rs 999 at a discounted cost of Rs 699.

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 Pro features a 6.3-inch full-HD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and waterdrop shaped notch on its display. Redmi Note 7 Pro runs Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10. Epic Games’ Fortnite has received update despite all the hate it is currently getting on the internet. The new update has the version number v9.30 and it gets lots of changes, improvements and fixes to the game. The most notable change among these is the Chug Splash addition, that is a new item which can be used by the players to heal their teammates. The players would require to throw a health potion container at their teammates if they wish to save them. However, the feature works like a double edged sword as it will also heal any enemies in the area if they happen to be in the working radius of Chug Splash.
Other than the Chug Radius, the new update also gets the Sniper Shootout duos and three-person squad battles called Trios to the game. The new additions in game modes have been put to the Limited Time Mode route. Other than this, new items for the Fortnite Creative and Save the World modes of the game have also been added.
As mentioned above, the most notable change that is coming with the new update is Chug Splash. It is a health potion that you can throw at your teammates to save them during a match. However, it should be noted that the Chug Splash doesn’t work as bandages and it can not be used to heal just one person. Once it lands, it creates an activity radius, and the players inside it will receive 20 health points each. However, if their health is full completely then they will receive 20 armour health points. We should mention that this means that if your enemy is trying to kill a teammate and you throw a Chug Splash, your teammate will recover but your enemy will receive the extra points.
It can be found in the stacks of two cylinders from the Floor Loot Chests, Vending Machines, Supply Drops as well as Llamas.
Other than this, two new modes have been added to the game with new update. There is the addition of Solid Gold Squads, Trios (a three-person squad battle royale mode) and a Sniper Shootout Duos. All the new modes have been added to LTM or Limited Time Mode in Fortnite.
Another new Prop-O-Matic element has also been added to the Fortnite Creative. With this, the players can transform into any prop to hide from their enemies and opponents. They can also create their own prop discovery game.
Two new islands named Wasteland and Caldera have also been added to the new update of Fortnite. Apart from this, the new update of Fortnite has also got changes in weapon characteristics and new Storm Shield Endurance mode that can be found in the Fortnite Save the World mode.
Taiwanese technology company Asus is all set to launch its 6Z smartphone in India today. Asus 6Z has been launched globally already, however, it is known as Asus Zenfone 6 in other parts of the world. The company has changed the name of the handset for India only. The key highlight of the device is, of course, its rotating camera module that lets users click selfies using the primary cameras. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is months away, but the leaks and rumours about the handset have been surfacing online as we get closer to the official launch. The closer we get to the launch of the device, the reports about the smartphones seem more and more legit. While we have already seen the leaks and renders of the handset, now a silicone case has surfaced online that allegedly is for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Pro and the Galaxy Note 10. The case gives us a fair idea about what the smartphone will be in terms of the build and size. It is also the first solid evidence of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 handset. Looking at the case, it is clear that the camera placement on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be vertical. It is worth mentioning that this is in-line with what the earlier renders suggested.
The images of the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 had been tweeted by the tipster named Sudhansu Ambhore (@Sudhansu1414). According to the tweet, the silicone case belongs to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and the Galaxy Note 10 Pro. The tipster also claimed that these were the “real life” cases of the upcoming smartphones but other than this, he didn’t share any additional details.
Looking at the cases, we see a difference in the size of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and the Galaxy Note 10 Pro. There is also a slight difference in the rear camera placement of the smartphones. The regular Samsung Galaxy Note 10 had a single circular cutout for the LED flash and on the other hand, for Galaxy Note 10 Pro, the cutout seems to be a longer and pill-shaped. This could mean that the Pro variant of the Galaxy Note 10 might come with other sensors such as the heart-rate sensor or the laser sensor.
Both the case layout and cutout also suggest that the Bixby button is missing from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 smartphones. However, there is another little bump in the case at the bottom left side that could be a dedicated camera button. It may also be a repositioned Bixby button.
Furthermore, we can see that there are two cutouts at the top that are claimed to be for the IR blaster and the microphone. This time, it looks like Samsung is finally removing the headphone jack from its smartphone. On the bottom of the case, we see a cutout for the S Pen, a speaker grille and the USB Type-C port along with the microphone.
Technology giant Google may have broken the norm by revealing the new design of its upcoming flagship Pixel 4 months ahead of its launch. We should mention that Samsung usually shows off its new phone technology with its Note phablet. This year, the company is expected to launch the handset in two different screen sizes and one among these will be a 5G-enabled device. Neither among the two will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Leaked renders of Samsung Galaxy Note 10 have also surfaced on Pricebaba (in collaboration with @Onleaks) that show that the company will be eliminating the top and bottom bezels completely. The smartphone’s hole-punch selfie camera can also be seen in the middle of the top of the screen. According to reports, the bigger screen variant will sport a 6.75-inch display, while the smaller screen variant will be 6.3-inches in size diagonally. The rear panel will reportedly have three vertically stacked camera sensors.
Coming back to CNET’s report, it says that Samsung will be using Barclays Center in Brooklyn to host the event. The report has also mentioned that Samsung plans to make the Unpacked event “flashy” this year.
However, the real curiosity right now is not about the Galaxy Note 10, but about Samsung Galaxy Fold. Will the company use the event to relaunch the device? Or will it be cancelled completely? As of now, various reports claim that the handset will not start shipping until after Galaxy Note 10.
Recently, a report also claimed that Samsung Galaxy Fold’s new launch date will be sometime in July. However, the company denied this. With that, we clearly knew that we would have to wait longer to get out hands on the Galaxy Fold handset. But then, it’s better that Samsung fixes all the issues in it before it relaunches it even if that takes longer.

WhatsApp and Invest India have today announced the winners of the ‘Startup India – WhatsApp Grand Challenge’. The companies have announced that five startups have been awarded a total grant worth $250,000 or approximately Rs 35 Lakhs each. The five startups that have received the prize money include MedCords, Melzo, Javis, Gramophone, and MinionLabs.
For those unaware, the ‘Startup India – WhatsApp Grand Challenge’ was started earlier this year and it was meant to inspire entrepreneurs to develop solutions that have a socio-economic impact on the Indian economy. More than 1,700 entries were received for the challenge from across the country. It is also worth mentioning that around 70% of the applications received were from startups that were less than 3 months old. This shows how more and more people are switching to do business in the country.
These entries were then evaluated on the basis of their innovative thinking, the scale of impact, and ability of solving real problems that are faced by the people of the country. Ten entries were then shortlisted and were given a chance to pitch ideas to a mix of venture capitalists and entrepreneur including Shailesh Lakhani of Sequoia Capital, Vani Kola of Kalaari Capital, Deep Kalra of MakeMyTrip, Harsha Kumar of Lightspeed Ventures, and Abhijit Bose of WhatsApp.
Speaking about it, Mr Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary DPIIT, Government of India said, “The Indian startup ecosystem has undergone a dynamic transformation in the last few years, with the addition of many successful unicorns and high growth in venture funding. We are constantly working to strengthen the ecosystem to support our startups by simplifying regulations, building infrastructure, and establishing meaningful partnerships. Last month, OnePlus announced its first 5G smartphone – OnePlus 7 Pro 5G – in the UK. Now the company has rolled out the latest OxygenOS 9.5.4 update for OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. Currently, the new update is being rolled out in an incremental manner and those who have not received it will be notified very soon.
OnePlus 7 Pro 5G edition’s OxygenOS update has resolved the issue of settings of DC dimming and has also improved the touch sensitivity for the screen. Double Tap to Wake and Ambient Display have also been improved. The OxygenOS update also includes general bug fixes and some other improvements.
Earlier, there was a problem with the pop-up camera of the smartphone. The camera was opening whenever the device got an incoming call, even when the screen was locked. The latest update has fixed this problem. The device was also facing an issue with the lock screen where the fingerprint animation stayed on the screen even after unlocking it successfully. However, now, this issue has been fixed as well. You can update the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G by going to Settings Menu and then to the Update option.
The company has rolled out the OxygenOS 9.5.4 in an incremental manner. Right now, it will reach a small percentage of users in the beginning, and if the update does not have any bugs, a broader rollout will follow.

Indian telecommunications major Airtel has today announced that it has launched its 4G services Lakshadweep Islands. The company has claimed that it is the first ever mobile provider to launch high-speed data services on the island, that is now connected to the digital superhighway.
With Airtel‘s 4G services, people on the Lakshadweep Islands will be able to enjoy various digital services like HD quality video streaming, superfast downloads and uploads, and high speeds internet browsing. The company has also said that 4G services will also give an overall boost to the local economy of the island. We should point out that Lakshadweep is also a very popular tourist destination. With the addition of 4G network, people visiting the island will also be able to access seamless mobile broadband connectivity, provided they have an Airtel connection.
Starting today, the 4G network from Airtel will be live across Agatti, Bangaram and Kavaratti. The 4G network would gradually roll out to the rest of the island as well.
The company has also said that after rolling out its services to Lakshadweep, Airtel’s high-speed 4G network covers the length and breadth of India. Airtel has also added that it has expanded the high-speed networks to the remotest corners of the North East.

Chinese smartphone maker Nubia is reportedly gearing up to launch a 5G-enabled handset. The company recently launched its Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone in India. At its launch, it has been reported that the company executives stated that Nubia has a head-start in terms of 5G hardware. They further added that Nubia’s 5G-enabled handset is already ready to launch in markets that support the connectivity. The company also said that it will be launching a 5G smartphone to India next year.
Speaking about this, vice-president of Nubia India, Pan Forrest, said, “The first Nubia 5G phone will be Red Magic, to launch in China in 2020. It will also come to India at around the same time.” We should mention that in its latest offering, Nubia has added features like upgraded cooling, 8K video recording and a display with 90Hz refresh rate. With this announcement, we can expect a smartphone with premium features like these and 5G connectivity.
The report about Nubia’s 5G smartphone coming to India first surfaced on News18. The website also quoted Dheeraj Kukreja, marketing director of Nubia India saying, “In China, we are the first one when it comes to mobile hardware to enter the 5G era. It is the first 5G phone in China, and we are supporting three operators in the country. Now, it will depend on the Indian service providers and how soon can they launch it.”
We should mention that in India, 5G connectivity is not supported till now. The testing and the rollout of the connectivity has been delayed in India as compared to a few other countries. A number of reports have also stated that deciding on the vendor for 5G has caused the delay, which primarily happened because of allegations that have been levied against Huawei but the United States government. Other reports say that the lack of allocated bandwidth is the real reason why 5G connectivity is not available in India.
It is also worth noticing that months ahead of the auction, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) stated that the Government of India is setting the base price of the 5G spectrum too high. This may have had a restricting effect on the connectivity in the country.
With all these issues, one can’t really say when and how 5G connectivity will be rolled out in India. The telecom authority in India will definitely not want to be late in adopting the technology. But we will have to wait to know what it does to get 5G connectivity to India sooner.

Earlier this month, we saw Truecaller testing its VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calling service in India for its premium subscribers. The VoIP feature of Truecaller would work similar to how other apps use this feature, it would allow the users to make a phone call over the internet (through mobile data or Wi-Fi network) regardless the telecom network availability or balance. The VoIP feature uses the internet itself to make the phone call. And in the recent development, Truecaller has officially announced the app’s VoIP calling feature which will be called – Truecaller Voice.
Truecaller has placed a Truecaller Voice button in the app which can be used by the user to make the voice calls through internet, using either mobile data or Wi-Fi. But, it should be noted that Truecaller Voice doesn’t call the phone of the receiver directly as it places the call in the app itself, so the receiver also must have the application installed in his smartphone. Currently, Truecaller is rolling out its VoIP feature with a new update, which will come to the smartphones in a staged way. The Truecaller Voice feature is currently being rolled out for the Android version only.
Truecaller has assured that by using the Truecaller Voice, the users can make free, high-quality, low latency VoIP calls, which will be connected quickly over mobile data or Wi-Fi. For the convenience of the users, the company has also added a shortcut to the Truecaller Voice to the in-app locations such as call logs, SMS Inbox, contact profile along with after call screen.
It should be noted that Truecaller’s VoIP calling feature was spotted last week. but earlier it was thought that it would be coming for the Truecaller Premium subscribers only. But now, it appears as if the Truecaller Voice feature will be brought to all the Android users of the app regardless of Premium or non-Premium tags. According to the official press release about the new update, Truecaller stated that the Truecaller Voice feature equipped new update has been rolling out since June 10, 2019. It will soon reach all the users of the application as it is being rolled out in a phased manner.
To get the new feature, the users would simply need to head over to Google Play Store and update their Truecaller app. Once updated to the latest version, they should be able to see the Truecaller Voice feature on the calling screen of the app. But if they don’t see it then the update hasn’t reached them as yet and they would have to wait for a few days. The Oppo A5s with 4GB RAM holds a price tag of Rs 15,900 with a market operating price (MOP) of Rs 12,990. The Oppo A5s comes in two colour options – Green and Gold.
The smartphone can be bought from popular e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm Mall, Tata Cliq, and Snapdeal. It can also be bought from offline brick-and-mortar stores. The mobile will be available in the coming days but the company hadn’t announced an exact availability date of the smartphone.
Other than the 4GB RAM variant of the Oppo A5s, it also has a 2GB RAM variant which holds a price tag of Rs 8,990. While the 3GB RAM variant of the Oppo A5s is priced at Rs 9,990.
Oppo A5s 4GB RAM variant specifications and features
The Oppo A5s sports a 6.2-inch HD+ (720 x 1,520 pixels) In-Cell display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC (MT6765) paired with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo skinned with ColorOS 5.2 and supports dual-SIM (Nano). The Oppo A5s comes with 64GB of internal storage with support for microSD card of up to 256GB. On the other hand, the 2GB and the 3GB RAM variant of the Oppo A5s comes with only 32GB internal storage support. The newly launched smartphone packs a large 4,230mAh battery with no fast charging capability.
On the imaging front, the Oppo A5s features a dual-rear camera, which comprises of a 13MP main sensor with an f/2.2 aperture paired with a 2MP secondary sensor. While at the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
Other features of the Oppo A5s 4GB RAM include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB port. And the rest of the specifications of the 4GB RAM variant of the Oppo A5s is similar to the 2GB or 3GB RAM variants of the smartphone.
Before its official launch, the specifications and details of the Honor 9X Pro have been leaked online. The Honor 9X Pro will be a mid-range smartphone and according to the leaked details, some of the main specifications of the handset include a 48MP rear camera along with a hole-punch camera at the front. In addition to this, the Honor 9X Pro will reportedly be powered by the 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC.
The leaks come from a Chinese leakster named @RODENT950 on Twitter. According to the leaks, the Honor 9X Pro will sport a 6.5-inch or 6.7-inch LED display panel with a hole-punch camera cutout on the front panel that would house the front-facing sensor. The device will reportedly be powered by a 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC and it will pack a 4,000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging. The back panel of the Honor 9X Pro will have a 3D glass design.
On the imaging front, the Honor 9X Pro will reportedly feature a quad-camera setup that will comprise of a 48MP Sony IMX582 main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP sensor for bokeh effect. On the front, there will be a 25MP selfie camera placed in a hole-punch camera setup.
But, there is another feature about the Honor 9X Pro which has leaked online. This new leak comes from a Twitter account named Huawei Club and according to it, the Honor 9X Pro will be powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC. It is a new chipset and it comes with an integrated NPU that would also power the Huawei Nova 5 smartphone.
As of now, it is not confirmed which among the two of the specifications will be the correct one for Honor 9X Pro. The Honor 9X Pro and the Honor 9X are expected to be launched later this year. The Honor 8X is the predecessor of the upcoming Honor 9X. Since Honor 8X was launched in China in September last year, there is a possibility that the company will unveil its upcoming Honor 9X at the same time frame this year as well. We could also see the launch of Honor 9X Pro alongside the Honor 9X.
Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is currently in line to launch its youth-centric Z1 Pro smartphone in India. Before the official launch of the device, the company has already started teasing various features of the upcoming device and it has also revealed that the Vivo Z1 Pro will be sold exclusively visa Flipkart. But now, according to a new report, Vivo is also working on a smartphone other than the Z1 Pro. The details of the new Vivo smartphone were spotted on the TENAA listing prior to its announcement. The TENAA listing reveals that the upcoming Vivo smartphone carries a model number V1913A/T and it will be a mid-range smartphone. Other than the model number, the listing has also revealed some of the key specifications of the unannounced Vivo smartphone.
According to the TENAA listing, the Vivo V1913A/T reportedly sports a 6.38-inch Full-HD+AMOLED display that has a waterdrop-shaped notch on top. It will reportedly be powered by an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The upcoming Vivo smartphone will come with 128GB of internal storage and will also support a microSD card. There is a possibility of an in-display fingerprint scanner in the Vivo V1913A/T as there are no physical fingerprint scanner present on the body of the smartphone. The listing was spotted by TechAndroids. According to the TENAA listing, the Vivo V1913A/T will reportedly come with a large 4,390mAh battery.
Similar to other Vivo smartphones, the Vivo V1913A/T will also come with Android 9 Pie skinned with FunTouch UI. There might also be a dedicated AI assistant button present on the Vivo V1913A/T, much like Samsung’s Bixby button. However, Vivo could have its own Jovi assistant connected via the button.
On the imaging front, the Vivo V1913A/T will reportedly come with a triple-rear camera setup with a 16MP sensor, an 8MP secondary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The details about the front camera of the smartphone are currently not known. But then, instead of being placed in an in-display camera placement like the Z1 Pro, the Vivo V1913A/T sports a waterdrop notch.
The Vivo V1913A/T measures at 159.53 x75.23×8.13mm and weighs 179 grams.
Currently, it is not known what will be the official name of the Vivo V1913A/T or when will it be announced. More details about the Vivo V1913A/T will be available once the company makes it official.

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi is one among the handset makers that ditched the app drawer since the very beginning. One of the few exceptions to this in Xiaomi’s range of devices it Poco F1, and that too, because it does not come with MIUI skin. Other Xiaomi devices that come with app drawers are the ones that are a part of Google’s Android One program.
However, now this is going to change soon as Xiaomi is said to be testing an in-built app drawer in its custom MIUI skin. The company will also be getting app shortcuts to its user interface.
The latest MIUI launcher alpha will be released with version number 4.10.6.1025-06141703. Based on the screenshots, users will have to tap the central button on the home screen to open the app drawer. We should also mention that the swipe up and swipe down gestures and go back to home screen option does not seem to be working for now to access the app launcher. However, it is being speculated that Xiaomi will include these options. In the app drawer, all the recently used apps will be placed on the top, while all the other downloaded apps will be shown in alphabetical order as usual. The launcher also includes a downward arrow on the top and on being tapped, it will collapse the app drawer.

A feature called App Shortcuts that was released with Android 7.0 Nougat, has also been spotted. Quick reactions pop up whenever an app icon is long-pressed and this lets users perform specific tasks of the app directly very quickly. This will also make its way to MIUI.
As of now, there is no specific date announced by Xiaomi about when it intends to launch the app drawer.

Recently, Xiaomi announced on its MIUI Community forums that starting July, it is going to end its global MIUI beta program for all the devices. The company says that it wants to limit its beta testing and update devices under Mi and Redmi branding more regularly.

Xiaomi launched its Poco F1 smartphone in India last year and touted it to offer Snapdragon 845 SoC at an affordable price. When launched, the smartphone ran Android 8.1 Oreo and later, it got the update to Android Pie. Now, the Poco F1 is getting the new MIUI v10.3.5.0 update along with the new May 2019 Android Security patch. The new update is already being rolled out and it comes with features like customizable lock screen clock and a dual app function fix. The rollout of the new update for the Poco F1 was confirmed by the company’s General Manager C Manmohan. In addition to this, it has also been confirmed that Poco F1 will be getting the Android Q update.
The news about the update of Poco F1 was revealed on Tuesday where Manmohan tweeted a screenshot of the MIUI v10.3.5.0. This confirmed the rollout of MIUI’s latest update for Poco F1, that is 387MB in size.
The users of the Poco F1 will receive the notification about the new update automatically. However, if they don’t, they can manually check for the updates too. For doing this, they need to go to Settings>About Phone. After that, they have to click on System update to download it. It should be noted that the update is currently being rolled out in phases and it would take around a week before it reaches all the users.
As per the official changelog of the new update, Poco F1 is getting May 2019 Android Security patch. Other than that, users will get the ability to customize the lock screen clock of their Poco F1. The new MIUI update also brings sorting principles of the Wi-Fi networks and fixes the problem of disappearance of dual apps after a reboot. The new update has also got the performance upgrades along with other bug fixes for the Poco F1.

As we mentioned earlier, Poco F1 will be getting Google’s upcoming Android Q update. This was confirmed by Poco Global Head Alvin Tse through a tweet. In his tweet, he confirmed that the Poco F1 will be receiving the new Android Q update once it rolls out. He also mentioned that MIUI 11 is not far away for the Poco F1. But Tse didn’t mention the date of the release and the MIUI version which will come with Android Q for Poco F1.

Revolt RV400 electric bike has been unveiled in India today. The company has said that it will be launched in the country in July this year. We should mention that Revolt RV400 is the first ever electric bike to go on sale in India. The pre-bookings of the same will open on June 25 on Revolt Intellicorp’s website and Amazon India. If you are an interested buyer, we should tell you that you can pre-order it for just Rs 1,000.
Over the next four months, the electric bike will be made available in NCR, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. It is worth mentioning that Revolt RV400 electric bike comes with a silhouette of a naked motorcycle and it has a hexagonal headlamp that comes with LED DRLs and LED central lamp. The bike has an upright seating position and it comes with handlebars that will be placed close to where the rider will be seated.
We should also add that the electric bike houses a lithium-ion battery that comes with ARAI certified range of 156.8 km when charged completely. With this battery, the bike can deliver 25Nm of torque and use regenerative braking system to charge it back.
Speaking about other features, the bike has an all-digital instrument panel that will display information like speed, mileage, remaining battery and more. Revolt RV400 comes with AI enhancements and can track riding style and on the basis of that, it can give a detailed insight on the app that it is connected with. This helps the rider to improve his riding style so that he can make better use of the battery range. The bike also comes with support for geo-fencing, turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.
A key feature of the bike is that it can be started using the app. The app will show trip details, ‘Find my Bike’ option and it will inform owners about when bike parts need to be changed. The Revolt RV400 has a customizable artificial exhaust note that offers users four options to choose from.

Most of us know how addictive it is to watch content on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other such similar services. While some of us are willing to pay for an ad-free experience so that we can enjoy videos more, a report has surfaced online that suggests that one in three Indians don’t really mind seeing ads on such platforms.
According to Asia OTT Research Report 2019 by Brightcove, around 25% of Indians who watch content on OTT (over-the-top video streaming) platforms want to pay nothing and watch ads while consuming content. Apart from this, it was also found that 14% of these people would be willing to pay a higher fee to be free from ads; and another 14% would like an option where they can customize their price and ad packages.
The report, conducted with online market research and data analytics firm YouGov, 35% of the respondents who are based in India are receptive towards the idea of a reduced monthly subscription package with which they can choose how they are served ads based on the pricing. Another 44% said that they will certainly sign up for it – meaning that almost 80% of the Indian respondents are open to a hybrid model of reduced price subscription.
The report surveyed 9,000 participants from across Asia which also included 1000 Indian consumers.
The intention of the study was to find out how customers these days are responding to OTT TV services and to find out which platforms and devices they prefer, what factors inspired them to sign up or unsubscribe, their payment preferences, and their acceptance for advertisements.
Thirty-five percent of viewers in the survey assured that they in a week they spend one to five hours watching content, whereas 21 percent said that they spend six to 10 hours per week watching content.
Twenty-two percent of customers said that they do not subscribe to OTT services because they merely do not have the time to watch.
Twenty-eight percent stated that the value proposition was simply not strong enough for them to subscribe, whereas 19 percent stated that content with active pay-TV services as a reason for not subscribing.
The report says that when the trial users switch to subscribers, accessibility on mobile, quality of experience on mobile, price, and content library are the four main factors which play a role in their withholding.
Twenty-nine percent of users who responded to the survey also said that most preferred platform to watch free movies online is streaming sites. Asian customers are mostly pleased to watch one to three ads.
With OTT, the consumer generally expects for more content and fewer ads, whereas 23 percent stated that they would prefer to pay a lower fee and watch some advertisements.

At the recently concluded Apple WWDC 2019, we got to see what features the Cupertino-based technology giant plans to roll out to its operating systems. While show stopper at the event was the iOS 13, the company also spoke about the additions that it is making it its tvOS for Apple TV. Now, after the event has been wrapped a few days back, the company has rolled out a feature to tvOS that it did not talk about – the picture-in-picture feature. According to a report, the new tvOS 13 developer beta version allows the users to use the picture-in-picture mode on Apple TV.
The report about the feature first surfaced on 9to5Mac and it says that while using the new picture-in-picture mode of the tvOS 13 developer beta, users can shrink any video which is currently being played in the corner of the app and continue to browse through content and other menus. In other words, the screen can be used for two things at a time, enabling the user to continue watching the content while also browsing through menus. However, it should be noted that currently, the picture-in-picture feature is available only in the tvOS 13 developer beta version and it will not be available for the public beta of tvOS till July 2019.
We feel that the feature is a useful one and with time, more apps and platforms are getting it. It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp has recently added this feature to the Android version of the app. While Android OS had already introduced this feature a long time ago, recently, YouTube for PC and mobile also got the picture-in-picture mode. Some third-party applications such as PlayStation Vue already have this feature and interestingly, it can even be used to watch up to four live channels simultaneously via Sony’s TV service.
The tvOS’s picture-in-picture feature is similar to the one on the iPad. The mode puts a floating small window with the content playing and meanwhile, you can surf for other content on the bigger screen. There are also options by which the small window can be maximized back to full-screen or completely exit the content.
As mentioned above, the picture-in-picture feature for the tvOS public beta won’t be coming out till July 2019. If you are not a part of the beta programme, you would have to wait for a few more weeks to find out what the feature works like.

Samsung has started rolling out the latest software update for its Galaxy Note 9 handset. The new update not only features the Night mode, but also brings the ability of scanning QR codes without using Bixby Vision. The South Korean technology giant is rolling out firmware version N960FXXU3CSF9 to the Galaxy Note 9 devices. Right now, the update has been rolled out in Germany and it is expected to reach the users of Samsung Galaxy Note 9 users in other regions too. The update is 704MB in size and it also comes with the latest June 2019 security patch.
The update of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was first spotted by SamMobile. The new update brings a dedicated night mode to the camera app of the handset. The mode can be activated manually to capture brighter photos with extra details in lowly-lit conditions. The camera app also gets an in-built QR code scanner. It will no longer be required to use Bixby Vision or a third-party QR code-scanning app. Users can now just point the camera of the smartphone to any QR code and it will be scanned automatically.
To recall, Samsung launched the phablet last year in August. Among the key highlights of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are its big display and the upgraded S Pen that comes with Bluetooth support. The handset is also the first from Samsung to come with a 4,000mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display that comes with Quad HD+ resolution. Powered by Exynos 9810 processor, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is available with 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/512GB of storage. The device can also hold a microSD card of up to 512GB.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 houses a 4,000mAh battery. The phablet sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP wide-angle autofocus sensor and a 12MP telephoto autofocus sensor. The device also comes with an 8MP autofocus sensor on its front panel that can be used for taking selfies and making video calls on this mobile.
The phablet also has support for Dex, that helps users get a desktop-like experience with the device.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is IP68-rated waterproof device and comes with wireless charging. The handset has AKG Harman speakers onboard and comes with iris, face and fingerprint scanners. For connectivity, there is dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi, Ant+, NFC, MST, and Gigabit LTE.

Cupertino based technology giant Apple rarely ever stays out of the news. The company is yet to launch the 2019 models of its iPhones, and reports about what it plans for 2020 have been surfacing online already. A new leak has surfaced online that talks about the 2020 models of iPhones. It says that Apple will be launching an iPhone in 2020 that will come with support for 5G-connectivity.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular and renowned Apple leakster, in 2020, the technology company will be launching three models of the iPhone. Out of the three, two of them will be the high-end iPhones. One of the two will sport a 5.4-inch display and the other will feature a 6.7-inch screen. These iPhones models will come with an OLED display. On the other hand, the third model of the iPhone will be a lower-end device with a 6.1-inch screen size, however, that too will come with an OLED display panel. Other than that, she also revealed that major difference between the three models of 2020 iPhones will be that the two high-end models will come with 5G modems in them while the affordable variant will have only the LTE support.
According to the reports, these 5G modems that will be installed in the high-end 2020 iPhones are expected to be provided by Qualcomm. Other than that, the report also says that 2021 onwards all the iPhones will come with 5G connectivity. Apple is also reportedly reducing its reliance on other external parts for the iPhones, so there is a possibility that it would want to make its own 5G modems by the year 2022 or 2023.
Apple has previously relied on Intel for providing it with the 5G modem, but the chipmaker failed to deliver them on time. The company has also been quoted saying that it wanted the best hardware for its iPhones and MediaTek’s 5G modems were not up to its standards. This only left one option for the company: Qualcomm. The American chipmaker has already developed a 5G-ready modem for smartphones named the Snapdragon X55 and some of the smartphones are even powered by it. So, despite all their differences and legal battles, Apple will have to rely on Qualcomm after all for the 5G modems.
A number of leaks about the 2019 iPhones have also surfaced online that suggest that an upcoming model will come with a square-camera placement on its back panel. With the new feature, the users will be made aware of who exactly they are sending the image on WhatsApp to while they are adding the caption.
However, we should mention that even now, the app shows the profile picture of the person to whom the image is being sent. This makes the new feature slightly redundant. But then, we are there will be those who will find the clear mention of the contact name to be helpful. The report, which first surfaced on WABetaInfo, the new feature is being rolled out to WhatsApp beta for Android. So, if you own an Android smartphone and have enrolled for WhatsApp’s beta programme, then you can go and update your app to version number 2.19.173 or later to try out the new feature. It is not available on any update that was rolled out prior to the version number that has been mentioned. The feature is available for Individual as well as Group chats.
It is also speculated to come to the stable version of WhatsApp for Android soon. However, as of now, there is no word on when the feature will come to iOS, or whether it will make it to iPhones at all.
In a recent update, the instant messaging app expanded its sticker options by adding an Opi sticker pack designed by Colombian illustrator Oscar Ospina. The newly launched pack comes with Opi stickers with a white-coloured bear. The bear expresses different emotions in all stickers. We should also point that the new sticker pack is now available in the Android as well as iOS versions of the app. You can download them directly via the Stickers section on WhatsApp.
To recall, the Facebook-owned messaging platform got stickers only in October 2018. As of now, WhatsApp has 14 different sticker packs on its app that have been created by different artists. American chipmaker Qualcomm is known for producing the most powerful processors in the industry. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC is not only expected to be better than its predecessor, but it is also speculated to surpass other 2020 processors when it comes to the performance. The details about the upcoming Qualcomm CPU were shared on Twitter by the popular tipster Roland Quandt.
Quandt’s tweet reads that the next generation of flagship processor by the America chipmaker will be called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC (code SM8250). It further says that there will be two variants of the new CPU – Kona and Huracan. Both the variants of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.0. However, only one of them will come with the 5G modem inbuilt (the Snapdragon X55). But then, it has not been revealed which one among these two new variants of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will have the 5G connectivity.
Although Quandt has said that the name Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC was what the “employees” at Qualcomm had named the upcoming CPUs, but the company itself hasn’t confirmed it yet. However, it is possible that the next CPU will be released in the year 2020.
Further speculations also suggest that the first smartphone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will be the Samsung Galaxy S11. Samsung had launched its Galaxy S10-series in February this year and it was among the first smartphones to come with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. So, if Samsung follows the same release cycle next year, we might see the launch of the upcoming Galaxy S11-series with Qualcomm’s chipset in February 2020.
Snapdragon 865 is what Qualcomm employees call the next gen high-end SoC (SM8250). There are two variants: Kona + Huracan. Both with support for LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.0. One likely with, one without integrated 5G modem (SDX55) – I guess. Also no clue which is the one w/ 5G in it.
In addition to this, Qualcomm has chosen Samsung to make its 2020 flagship CPUs rather than TSMC, which made its chips earlier. It is expected that Samsung will start making the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC at the end of 2019. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will be manufactured on the 7nm ultra-violet (EUV) process. According to Qualcomm, Samsung’s technology is more advanced than TSMC, and that is the reason it is opting for the former. Samsung’s last production of Qualcomm chips was the Snapdragon 820 and the Snapdragon 835 after which the companies took a break in 2018.

Chinese smartphone brand Realme recently launched its flagship smartphone – Realme X – in China. A few days after the device was launched, Realme India’s CEO Madhav Sheath announced that the smartphone will not be coming to India till the second half of 2019. He also said that the Indian version of the smartphone will come with different specifications and features than the model that was launched in China. However, till now, there was no word on the exact launch date of the Realme X smartphone in India. Today, we have learnt from industry insiders that the flagship handset will be launched in India on July 17.
Interestingly, this falls just a day ahead of Redmi K20 Pro’s launch date in India, that is scheduled for July 18. The rivalry between these two companies is nothing new and these launch dates only make it fiercer. In a tweet that he had posted earlier, Sheth had said, “We shall try to bring it [Realme X] earlier, but with all our effort, we think we shall be only able to bring around [the] second half of the year.”
He had also added that the company will be getting the Naoto Fukasawa’s Realme X’s Onion and Garlic finish to the Indian market too. So even though the specifications will be different, the finish of the flagship smartphone will be the same as the Chinese counterparts. The CEO has also said that there will be a special variant of the Realme X that will be launched in India.

In China, the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model of the Realme X smartphone costs CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,100), and the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,100). The 8GB RAM/128GB storage version of the Realme X bears a price tag of CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs 18,100). The price of the smartphone in India is expected to be similar to the Chinese counterparts of the device.

Realme X features a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) AMOLED display that comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC, the smartphone has up to up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with ColorOS 6 and it houses a 3,765mAh battery that has support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
For imaging duties, the Realme X sports a dual-rear camera setup that consists of a 48MP main sensor and a 5MP sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP pop-up selfie camera.
For connectivity, the device comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and Dolby Atmos audio.

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi recently launched its Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro handsets at an event in the company’s home country. Around the same time, it was confirmed that the handsets will be launched in India too. Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to confirm that the two smartphones will come to India in “six weeks.” With the timing of the tweet, it was inferred that the devices will launch in India till mid-July.
Today, the date of the launch of the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India has been leaked. According to industry insiders, the two smartphones will finally be launched in India on July 18, that is exactly a month from today. This is completely in sync with the timeline that Jain tweeted about.
We should point out that Xiaomi has been leaving no stone unturned to create a buzz about its upcoming smartphones before their launch. This is particularly true for the Redmi K20 Pro. The company recently confirmed the launch of the smartphone in India via its official Twitter handle. In the post, Xiaomi has called Redmi K20 Pro as the “world’s fastest phone.” With the tweet, the Chinese brand has touted the presence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8GB of RAM in the handset.
Just two days later, the company also shared the Antutu score of the Redmi K20 Pro on social media. It has claimed that the smartphone scored 3,88,803 in Antutu, in an attempt to highlight how powerful the performance of the device really is. It is worth noticing though that benchmark tests are not an ideal way to judge a handset’s performance, as a number of devices have been caught cheating in such tests. We would have to wait to try it ourselves before we can say if Redmi K20 Pro is actually that good a performer.

As far as the specifications of the Redmi K20 Pro go, the smartphone looks excellent on paper. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with Xiaomi’s own MIUI and it sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED full-HD+ display. The display of the smartphone has a fingerprint scanner embedded on it. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, Redmi K20 Pro comes with up to 8GB of RAM.
On the imaging front, the Redmi K20 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup that comprises of a 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP wide-angle sensor and an 8MP sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 20MP sensor on the front panel of the handset.
The smartphone by Redmi houses a 4,000mAh battery and for connectivity, it comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
