OnePlus’ Experience Pop-Up will be held in New Delhi on May 17

Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus is all set to launch its OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 smartphones on May 14. To celebrate the launch of its OnePlus 7 series, the company will be hosting a ‘OnePlus Experience Pop-Up’ on May 17, 2019 at Amphitheatre, Select City Walk, New Delhi. If you are interested in attending, you should know that the event will kick-start at 7:00 pm.

OnePlus has said that the Experience Pop-Up will be an experiential zone where users and the community can come together to get their hands on the latest flagship smartphone from the company – OnePlus 7 Pro.

In order to make it exciting for the community, the company will be conducting exclusive workshops and events over the next one month that would include gaming leagues, content creation and photography workshops.

Pop-up cultures will be a part of the company’s launch culture since the initial days and in India, they have become more or less synonymous to the brand. The company is continuing with the tradition this year and will be holding limited stock pop-up stores across seven major cities in India. In these stores, attendees will be able to try the handset for themselves.

The OnePlus pop-ups will be hosted starting May 15, 2019 at 7 pm and will be held in Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

We should also mention that interested customers will be able to buy the OnePlus 7 Pro at the Experience Pop-Up as well as other pop-ups. The company will also be offering exclusive goodies like Type-C Bullets, Netflix and Amazon Vouchers, to early birds. They will also get OnePlus back cases, tote bags and ‘Never Settle’ T-shirts.

The company has been posting a number of teasers about the device. While CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 7 Pro will come with an HDR10+ display along with UFS 3.0 storage, co-founder Carl Pei revealed that it will have some level of water resistance, but not an IP rating. We have to say, considering that the price of OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to be higher than other flagship devices from the company, some customers may find this to be a disappointment.

Tencent Games shuts down PUBG Mobile in China; here’s why

Technology giant Tencent Games has shut down the immensely popular game PUBG Mobile in China after the company failed to secure a license from the government to collect revenues from it. It has been reported that now, the company plans to migrate its users to a similar title like Heping Jingying or Elite Force for Peace.

We should also point out that Heping Jingying has been approved for monetization by the Chinese Communist party, primarily because it has patriotic overtones. The game has been described by an analyst as “a tribute to the People’s Liberation Army Air Force”, which is a part of China’s national military. The game also has anti-terrorism themes.

PUBG Mobile was initially launched in March 2018 and it has now become one among the most popular games in the world. It has scores of fans across the globe and people spend hours playing the game every day. The popularity and addiction of the game have been so tremendous that it has also faced a ban in some parts of the world.

According to China Renaissance, PUBG Mobile had approximately 70 million domestic players. This basically means that the game could have generated annual revenue of approximately $1.18 billion to $1.48 billion via in-app purchases.

But then, because of some political and cultural factors, it may not be able to. Over the past few years, the Chinese government has become very hostile towards video games which can be termed as violent and addictive. In addition to this, China’s People’s Daily paper has described Tencent’s hit game Honor of Kings as “poison” that can spread “negative energy”.

The company has also started shutting down one game because of the hostility and going forward, it will be seen making accommodations in new titles. Heping Jingying is not only considered patriotic, but it is also less violent than PUBG Mobile. To begin with, a player must be at least 16 years to play the game. And secondly, the characters in the game don’t bleed when they are shot.

Another contributory factor behind PUBG Mobile’s rejection may be geopolitics. Tencent has been licensing the game from South Korea-based Bluehole and it is no secret that Chinese authorities can be hostile towards South Korean goods.

But then, we should mention that the move should not affect Chinese gamers as the company will let them port over characters from PUBG Mobile to Heping Jingying, and according to a report in Reuters, the game is very similar to the old one. Speaking about the new game, an analyst told the news agency, “The gameplay, the background, the graphic design and the characters, they’re almost the same.”

PUBG Mobile gets a Baahubali-inspired outfit, available with a limited period discount

PUBG Mobile has scores of fans across the globe. A huge number of the game’s fans are also based in India, considering how popular it is in the country. In an attempt to cater to them, the popular battle-royale game has introduced an outfit that is inspired by the character of Baahubali from the movie-series of the same name. We should mention that both the films in the Baahubali series shattered box office records in India and were universally acclaimed.

Coming back to PUBG Mobile, it is not a stranger when it comes to borrowing elements from entertainment franchises. And by picking up the outfit from such a popular film, it surely has made the right choice to woo Indian players. The Baahubali inspired outfit has been named as ‘The Great Indian Warrior’ and it is already available to purchase from the game’s item shop.

You can either purchase the Indian warrior themed costume in two pieces or in a single go. But if you buy it in a single go, you will get a discount of 25%. Since the outfit is a new one, when you launch PUBG Mobile, you would see it getting promoted via in-game advertising.

It is worth mentioning that the price of the outfit is 1,260 UC (PUBG Mobile in-game currency – Unknown Cash), but if you press the ‘Get It Now’ button, you would get a discount of 25% and the price will come down to 945 UC. The offer is valid till May 15 in PUBG Mobile.

As we mentioned earlier, PUBG Mobile players can also get the outfit items separately. The headgear, which is called the ‘Great Indian Warrior Headpiece’, can be bought for 360 UC. The rest of the costume, which has the chest armour, wrist and arm protection, and the bottom wear can be bought at 900 UC from the shop.

However, we should also point out that ‘The Great Indian Warrior’ does not seem to be in collaboration with the official makers of Baahubali. But then, the outfit does have an uncanny resemblance to the clothes that were worn by the character in the popular film. There is no doubt about the fact that it is inspired by the film.

PUBG Mobile has also introduced Resident Evil inspired content and in the past, it has also added exclusive in-game costumes by collaborating with Japanese clothing brand A Bathing Ape, which is more popularly known as BAPE.

EA will soon launch popular battle-royale game Apex Legends on mobile

Electronic Arts has today released its quarterly earnings and it was not a surprise to see that Apex Legends, which has garnered a lot of fans this year, was a huge hit. According to EA, the battle-royale game developed by Respawn is “easily the fastest-growing franchise we’ve ever had.” In addition to this, the company has also added that it will not be limiting the game to just PCs and consoles anymore, as it has plans of launching a mobile version of Apex Legends. Speaking further on this at today’s call, EA said, “We are in advanced negotiations to bring Apex Legends to China and to mobile.”

Although it is great to know that another battle-royale is coming to the mobile platform soon, this is all that we know about it so far. But then, we must add here that Electronics Art is planning to compete with the two biggest games in the battle-royale segment: Fortnite and PUBG.

Both of these games are available on mobile and they have scores of followers across the globe. However, PUBG Mobile and Fortnite approach battle-royale with very different strategies. Fortnite remains uniform on all the platforms on which it is available, while PUBG has a very different version of its game for the mobile platform. Tencent Games calls that version PUBG Mobile.

While both the games are massive hits, in December 2018, the number of players who were playing PUBG mobile was equal to the players – 200 million – who were playing all the versions of Fortnite.

Coming back to Apex Legends, it will surely be tapping into a different platform and its user base is expected to swell after that. But then, there is no word from the company about when exactly this would happen. It is worth mentioning though, that EA is trying to keep the game’s early momentum up. At its earnings call, EA also said, “We are hugely excited about the future of Apex Legends.”

To recall, last month, Respawn says that it planned to upgrade the game with seasonal updates regularly, adding that it will be focussing on the “quality of content over novelty or speed of release.”

We should mention that prior to this, reports about crunch and extreme overtime at Epic Games, which is Fortnite’s developer, also surfaced online. Keeping this in mind, Apex executive producer Drew McCoy said, “We want to maintain our culture as a development team and avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse.”

WhatsApp is ending support for Windows Phone: Here’s more on it

Instant messaging app WhatsApp has announced via its blog post that it will be ending support for the Windows Phone platform this year on December 31, 2019. The company has clarified that this is implied to all the versions of the Windows Phone operating system. We should also mention that in this case, end of support does not mean lack of future updates. Instead, it means that WhatsApp will completely stop working on the platform.

But then, on a separate note, WABetaInfo, a Twitter account that tracks beta updates of the messaging service, has tipped that a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app is being worked upon. It has also said that the new app will be available for Windows Desktop as well as Windows Phone platforms.

The Facebook-owned instant messaging app took to its mobile support blog to post about the fact that it is ending support for all versions of the Windows Phone platform. It has also said that the support for the platform will end on December 31, 2019. So, if you are a Windows Phone user, you will not be able to use WhatsApp on your device starting 2020.

The company has also spoken about its decision to technology website Gadgets 360 saying that the last update for the platform will be issued in June. WhatsApp has been quoted saying, “Following Microsoft‘s recent decision to end support for Windows Mobile devices in December, WhatsApp will release its final update for Windows phones in June. WhatsApp will continue working on Windows phones through the end of the year.”

We should also mention that WhatsApp stopped working for Windows Phone 7 at the end of 2016.

In addition to this, the blog also says that WhatsApp will stop working on older versions of Android (v2.3.7 and older) and iOS (iOS 7 and older) starting February 1, 2020.

Coming to the report by WABetaInfo, it says that the company is working on a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app, which would let users access it on recent versions of Windows Phone and Windows Desktop platforms. However, there is no other information about it that has been revealed yet.

It was recently also reported that WhatsApp for iOS is also under development. According to various reports, the initial testing version of the WhatsApp for iPad will be officially released soon, so we may not have to wait for long to find out what the app will be like.

To download the latest Android Q Beta 3 on your smartphone, you can head to android.com/beta. If you have a Pixel smartphone, you need to enrol your handset on the Android Beta programme to receive an OTA update with the new Android Q Beta build.

Android Q Beta 3 features

Among the most talked about features of Android Q Beta 3 is the Dark Theme, which reduces the eye strain for users and at the same time, enhance the battery life. If you want to activate the system-wide dark theme, you can head to Settings and then go to Display to do it. It can also be activated via Quick Settings and Battery Saver. With this, not only the system UI turn dark, but the supporting apps too. In case developers don’t want to build their own dark themes, they can go for a new Force Dark feature that enables the operating system to create a dark version of the app.

The new version of Android also comes with a number of new privacy features including Activity Controls, Location History, and Ad Settings. It also lets users decide when giving apps access to their location. Another feature called Scoped Storage gives users more control over their apps that can access files on external storage of their device like a microSD card.

Users will also be able to block unwanted apps from launching in the background and Google has also added that in order to prevent tracking, Android Q Beta 3 will be limiting access to “non-resettable device identifiers”. With Android Q Beta 3, the devices will also get support for TLS 1.3. Smart Reply and Actions have also been integrated into the Notifications framework, and app developers will be able to supply their own replies and actions.

Other than this, there is a new navigation mode that can run via gestures and completely eliminates the navigation bar area. So, buttons like Back, Home, and Recents can be accessed via edge swipes and not physical buttons.

Android Q features that will be available later

An interesting feature coming to Android Q beta 3 is Live Captions, that is a complete on-device captioning tool for audio messages, videos, podcasts and more. While this will be useful for those who watch videos on mute, it will be very beneficial for those who have difficulty hearing.

Coming to Focus Mode, it is a new feature that will come to both Android 9.0 Pie and Android Q this fall. The feature is a part of Digital Wellbeing initiative and it lets users mute apps that they find distracting.

Android Q will also come with Family Link parental controls that will be found in the Settings of the handset. This will let parents set time limits on certain apps and add a bonus time too.

Another feature that will come to Android Q is Project Mainline, which according to Google, will be a “new approach to keeping Android users secure and their devices up-to-date with important code changes, direct from Google Play.”

Asus Zenfone 6 price leaked before its official launch

0

Asus’s upcoming smartphone, the Zenfone 6 is scheduled to launch on May 16 in Spain. It will be the company’s 2019 flagship device and a successor to the Zenfone 5Z. Before its launch, some leaks about its specifications and official teasers have been released. In the official teasers, the device can be seen to have a bezel-less front display. It has also been reported that it will come with a pop-up selfie camera. With the launch of Asus Zenfone 6 still weeks away, the pricing of the handset’s variants has been revealed.

According to reports, the Zenfone 6’s base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will be priced at TWD 19,990 (approximately Rs 44,880). The other variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be priced at TWD 23,990 (approximately Rs 53,862). While the top variant of the Zenfone 6 with the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage will be priced at TWD 29,990 (approximately Rs 67,333).

The past week, Asus had teased us with the teaser poster of the upcoming Zenfone 6 launch event that will be held in Spain on May 16. The launch date of the Zenfone 6 is right after the launch of Redmi X, OnePlus 7-series (May 14) and the Realme X (May 15). So, the smartphones launching at the said dates will undoubtedly compete with the Zenfone 6, at least the OnePlus 7 will. In the teaser image, the Taiwanese company showcases a silhouette of a smartphone with a notch-less display. The design of the smartphone hints at a pop-up selfie camera.

Other than that, the Zenfone 6 teaser also mentioned the “Defy Ordinary” tagline which further suggests its distinctive design. According to some earlier leaked renders of the smartphone, the Zenfone 6 would house a dual slider design with front and rear cameras. But we might see this design in the 5G variant of the Zenfone 6.

Furthermore, the Zenfone 6 from Asus appeared on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. The documents mentions that the device will run Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Also, the Asus Zenfone 6 was spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarks which revealed that the smartphone will run Android 9 Pie. It will also have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, this could be the base model of the smartphone.

Other details about the upcoming Zenfone 6 will be revealed on the date of its actual release on May 16. But since these reports are based on leaks, they should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Technology giant Google made a number of announcements at its I/O 2019 developer’s conference yesterday. The company has announced a number of improvements to its Google Search and Google Lens services. The continued theme that the company followed this year was to “build a more helpful Google for everyone.”

The changed that Google has introduced to its Search platform include better organised Google News results, content indexed podcasts and a camera in results that provides AR-based answers. A number of announcements around Google Lens were also made. The service will now help you pay bills, translate texts in a more enhanced way and do so much more.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has also revealed that the Full Coverage for Google News will come to its Search platform later this year. The feature will help Google organise search results better. To recall, full coverage does not only come with new results, but it also includes tweets, videos and other such elements.

Pichai also spoke about podcasts, saying that the company will soon start helping users search for the podcast or the episode that they are looking for. In fact, they will be directly available to find within Search itself and users will be able to listen to podcasts there itself. They will also have to option of saving them to listen later.

Google’s VP and General Manager for AR Products Aparna Chennapragada shed light on how the company is integrating augmented reality (AR) in search results. It is worth mentioning that the technology will make its way to Google Search later this month.

Google has partnered with various companies like NASA, New Balance, Samsung, Target, Visible Body, Volvo, and Wayfair to show 3D objects on Search. This will enable people to view and interact with these objects in 3D and AR. The users will be able to find this option within the Knowledge Panel of the service.

She also spoke about Google Lens, which according to the company has been used more than a billion times. Going forward, Google Lens will be able to tell users about the popular dishes that are served in restaurants. Users will also be able to see what the dish looks like before they place their order, by just tapping on its name in the menu. They would also have the option of reading reviews, splitting up the bill and calculate tips.

Last but not least, Google Go will be getting camera capabilities, which will enable the user to get options like translate, listen, and search.

Google Assistant to become 10 times faster, gets a slew of new features

Google Assistant has been making our lives simple since it was unveiled first by the technology giant. Yesterday at Google I/O 2019, the company has announced several changes to its digital assistant that will make it even more useful to users. The features are expected to make their way to Made by Google devices in the next few weeks or months.

The technology giant has given us the first look at the next-generation Google Assistant, Assistant driving more, Assistant support in Waze among other features. In addition to this, Google has also said that it will be bringing the Assistant’s Duplex feature to the Web so that users can get help to complete various tasks online.

The next-generation Google Assistant will not rely on the company’s data centres for its computing needs. Instead, it will bring speech recognition and language understanding models to users’ smartphones to make sure that things remain extremely fast. The technology giant has elaborated in a blog post that the next-generation Google Assistant will have the ability to process what users say in real-time and respond up to 10 times faster than it does right now.

Google said, “You can multitask across apps—so creating a calendar invite, finding and sharing a photo with your friends, or dictating an email is faster than ever before. And with Continued Conversation, you can make several requests in a row without having to say “Hey Google” each time.”

The company has said that the next-generation Google Assistant will be available on new Pixel smartphones sometime later this year. However, as of now, there is no word about when it will come to other Android handsets.

Another feature that will be coming to Assistant is Personal References, which enables users to ask queries like, “What’s the weather like at mom’s house this weekend?” The Assistant will then recognise what “mom’s house” means, and give the answer to the question accordingly.

Speaking about the feature, Google said, “For a digital assistant to be helpful, it needs to understand the people, places and events that are important to you. In the coming months, the Assistant will be able to better understand references to all of these through Personal References.”

In addition to this, Google is getting a ‘Picks for you’ feature in Assistant on smart displays. As the name suggests, the feature will provide personalised suggestions to the user about recipes, podcasts and more. Popular navigation app Waze will also be getting support for Assistant in the next few weeks.

Google is also adding a driving more that will give users personalised suggestions and will be available starting this summer on Android smartphones. Another useful feature that is coming to Assistant is remote vehicle control. As the name suggests, with this, owners will be able to control their vehicles remotely.

Other than this, Google will bring the Duplex feature on Web so that it can make car or movie ticket bookings for users. It will be coming to Web later this year in the Us and UK on Android phones.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 to come with a bigger battery and over 25W fast charging support: Report

0

Although one of the flagship devices of Samsung for 2019 has already been launched, the other flagship is yet to be announced. The Galaxy Note-series is launched by the company around August every year and this year will be no different. Samsung Galaxy Note 10’s launch may be months away, but rumours and leaks about the device have already started surfacing. According to the new leaks, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will come with a larger battery than the Galaxy Note 9. And it might also come with a 25W fast charge support making it charge faster and its battery last longer.

The new leaks suggest that there will be an addition of 500mAh battery size to the battery of Galaxy Note 10. The Galaxy Note 9 packed a 4,000mAh battery so its successor will reportedly come with a 4,500mAh battery. Renowned tipster Ice Universe tweeted that the “Note 10 charging is note 25W”. He further pointed out that from Galaxy Note 10 onwards, the charging speed and the battery capacity of Samsung won’t be its weak points as it will be upgraded. While other leak mentions that the Galaxy Note 10 will come with a big 4,500mAh battery.

Forbes too stated that the battery of the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 will be bigger than last years’. According to it, the users will be surprised by Galaxy Note 10’s battery capacity and its charging speed. Currently, there is no official word from Samsung about the battery capacity or the charging speed of its device. But we have already seen Oppo’s 50W Super VOOC fast charging which set a benchmark with its speed. While beating it might be tough, Samsung needs to do something similar or greater than it in its Galaxy Note 10 to make an impact.

Not much is known about Samsung Galaxy Note 10 till now, but earlier we saw that it might come in four variants. Two smartphones might be packing 4G connectivity while the other two might pack 5G connectivity. The 5G variants of the Galaxy Note 10 might be named under the ‘Pro’ moniker. Also, it is rumoured that the Galaxy Note 10 will come with no physical buttons but will use force touch in place of it. The force touch will be a touch-sensitive panel replacing the Galaxy Note 10’s physical buttons. Other than that, the Galaxy Note 10 will reportedly come with four cameras like the Galaxy S10 5G and will be powered by the Exynos 9825 SoC.

But since all these specifications are based on rumours and leaks, they should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Apple bought more than 20 companies in the last six months: CEO Tim Cook

0

Cupertino-based technology Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has said that the company has acquired between 20 and 25 companies in the last six months. The number may seem huge, but then we should not forget that it Apple that we are talking about, and it is the first trillion dollar company after all. The company’s current market capitalization is above $900 billion and it definitely can afford to do this.

However, we should also mention that Cook did not reveal the nature of the business of the companies that Apple has acquired. But then, he did say that the Cupertino-based technology company buys a company every two or three weeks. We have to say, we can’t think of any other company who is doing this.

The CEO attended Berkshire’s annual shareholder meeting where he said all of this in an interview with CNBC. He also mentioned that after spending on expansion, Apple will look to buy companies for strategic value. He also added that Apple, with its leftover money, mostly acquires companies looking at their talent and intellectual property.

Speaking on this, Cook said, “We bought probably 20 to 25 companies in the last six months or so. And then, we look at, what do we have leftover? And if we’ve got something leftover, we look at where we can place it. And the top value that we believe we can place it is investing in ourselves and investing in Apple. And so we do that. We’re fortunate in that, when we buy our stock we think that almost 50 percent of US households own Apple stock, either directly or indirectly through indexes and mutual funds and so forth. And so it helps everybody or helps a large number of people.”

Coming to the companies that Apple has acquired in the last six months, one among them is AI Assistant startup Silk Labs. The technology giant acquired the company in November last year. Then in December, Apple purchased a London-based music firm, Platoon. In March this year, Apple acquired Italian startup Stamplay. These are the biggest acquisitions that have been made by the company.

Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro renders show quad camera setup, 48MP primary sensor and more

0

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is all set to launch its Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro flagship smartphones at an event on May 21. And there have been plenty of leaks about these smartphones for the last few months. And now, some new renders have surfaced online that confirm the smartphones‘ rear camera setup. It has been tipped that both Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro handsets will come with four rear cameras and sport a 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor.

The latest renders that have emerged have been posted by Slashleaks contributor Teme (@RODENT950) on Twitter. One of them shows the Honor 20 and the other shows the Honro 20 Pro smartphone.

As we mentioned earlier, the Honor 20 smartphone comes with a quad camera setup and has a 48MP primary sensor, which is said to come with a ‘4-in-1 Light Fusion’ system. This means that although the primary camera will hold a 48MP sensor, it will most likely save images that are up to 12MP in resolution. It is also worth mentioning that it is the sensor is 1/2-inch and has an aperture of f/1.8.

Besides this, the camera module also has a 16MP wide-angle sensor that has a field of view of 117-degrees and an aperture of f/2.2. In the image, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens can also be seen. The latter sits on the right side of the main camera module.

Coming to Honor 20 Pro, its camera setup is more interesting than that of Honor 20. It comes with the same 48MP primary sensor and 16MP wide-angle senor, however, the primary sensor of the device comes with optical image stabalization and a has an aperture of f/1.4. We should mention that having an aperture like that would make Honor 20 Pro’s low-light photography very good.

Instead of Honor 20’s depth sensor, Honor 20 Pro comes with an 8Mp telephoto camera that has a 3x optical zoom, OIS and an aperture of f2.4. Other than this, there are a 2MP macro-lens on the smartphone. Teme also posted a sample photo which has been clicked using the Honor 20 Pro. The sample shot has been taken from the main camera and there is another one that has been clicked using an ‘AI Ultra Clarity Mode’.

Xiaomi’s Mi A3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 700-series SoCs: Report

0

After the launch of the selfie-centric smartphones named Redmi Y3, Xiaomi is focusing on its Mi A-series smartphones. The Mi A-series devices were one of the most popular smartphones launched by the company due to its Android One software experience. The Android One UI puts the stock Android experience over the smartphones, and needless to say, it is very popular. Other than that, the Android One device receives fast software updates, security patches and other similar updates. The last Mi A-series device, the Mi A2 was launched back in 2018 and now the company is expected to launch the next smartphones in the same series. The Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite is expected to be launched by the company later this year. And rumours have already started pouring in as it is expected that the handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 700-series processors.

According to the XDA Developers, the rumours are based on the source code information of Xiaomi. It reports that the new Xiaomi smartphones could have codenames such as “Bamboo_Sprout”, “Cosmos Sprout” and “Pyxis”. Currently, they are in development and will be powered by the Snapdragon 700-series of CPUs. The ‘Sprout’ codenames could be referred to the Mi A-series devices (Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite) as in the past the Mi A-series devices held the ‘Sprout’ codenames. But more information about the ‘Pyxis’ named device is currently not known.

The Mi A3 might be launched as Mi 7X in the Chinese market, much like Mi A1 and the Mi A2 which were launched as Mi 5X and Mi 6X in China.

Other than that, since Mi A3 will be the successor of the Mi A2 it should have better and higher specifications than its predecessor. To take into account, the Mi A2 was powered by the Snapdragon 660 while the Mi A1 was powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC. So, the use of Snapdragon 700-series SoCs in the Mi A3 comes as a surprise as those CPUs are aimed at a mid-range smartphone below the flagship ones. While the Snapdragon 600-series processors are the true mid-range CPUs as they were used in the earlier Redmi Note 7 and even the Redmi Note 7 Pro. So, using the Snapdragon 700-series CPUs in the Mi A3 could mean a rise in its performance as well as the price tag of the device.

Till now, these are the only details available about the Mi A3, other details about the device will be available as its launch date draws closer.

Apple to showcase redesigned Mac Pro at WWDC 2019

Cupertino-based technology giant Apple is said to be considering to reveal its revamped Mac Pro at its WWDC 2019 developer’s conference that is scheduled for June this year. This is rather unusual on Apple’s part as the company’s WWDC conference is usually just focussed on software-related announcements. But then, Google is also making an exception at its I/O 2019 conference by launching its Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones, so it would not exactly be surprising to see Apple do the same.

Besides this, considering that Mac Pro is aimed at demanding users, it makes sense for the company to talk about it during WWDC 2019, as most of its audience there would be developers. And who can be a more demanding user than developers themselves?

The report about Apple’s plan first surfaced on Bloomberg, and the publication also said that the Cupertino-based technology giant may be looking to make its external monitor once again. It has also been suggested that this too, will be launched at the WWDC 2019. The monitor is suggested to come with HDR support. According to other reports, the monitor by Apple will come with a 31.6-inch 6K screen and have mini-LED backlighting that will enhance the display’s contrast and make it as good as OLED.

This is all that Apple is reportedly considering to unveil at its WWDC 2019 conference. However, we should mention that the company is said to be working on other hardware and there are no clear timelines for them yet. For instance, an updated MacBook Pro that will have a 16-inch screen and come with a revamped design is being worked upon. Along with this, Apple is also adding a 32GB MacBook Pro model that will come with a 13-inch display.

It is worth mentioning that Apple usually takes wraps off its new MacBooks in fall. According to a report in 9to5Mac, Apple is working on a tracking service that is similar to Tile, that is expected to be announced in September.

Apple’s WWDC 2019 conference is all set to begin on June 3. While Apple has not spoken much about it, there are a number of reports that suggest what one can expect to see at the event. The most talked-about changed that are expected are Dark Mode for iOS, iPad apps and Siri Shortcuts on Mac, and some options of multitasking.

Twitter now lets the users retweet with GIFs, videos or images

Popular micro-blogging website Twitter is always tweaking its platform to satisfy the needs of its users. Now, Twitter has rolled out a new feature on its platform which enables users to add images, videos and GIFs to their re-tweets. The new feature is available for both its Android and iOS platforms. The news of the addition of this new feature was announced by Twitter itself on May 6 using a tweet.

Other that the platforms mentioned above, the new feature can also be used on the Mobile website of Twitter.

Twitter Support’s official handle posted, “It’s easy to express yourself by re-tweeting with a comment. What if you could take it a step further and include media? Starting today, you can retweet with photos, a GIF, or a video to really make your reaction pop.”

Earlier, when the user wanted to retweet something, he had the option to retweet directly or add a comment to it. However, this was only limited to using text while retweeting. But now, the users have another option where they can retweet something using GIFs or media making it easier to express themselves.

A Twitter spokesperson said to technology website The Verge, “We found it was challenging for people to quickly understand all the content in a retweet with media. This was due to the layout; two large tweets stacked on top of each other.”

When retweeting using a GIF, the original tweet will appear in a smaller and indented box with the display picture of the user still visible. But it will make the media to view in full width.

Other than GIFs, the user can also use videos or images to retweet. With this feature, Twitter has given more options to the user by which he can express himself on its platform. Although this feature has been released for the iOS, Android and Mobile Website of the platform, its desktop availability is currently unknown. While there is no word from the company about it, we do see the possibility of the feature’s arrival for the desktop version of the microblogging website in the near future.

Furthermore, in April, Twitter reduced the number of people/ profile one can follow in a day to stop the spread of spammers on its platform. Earlier, the limit to follow profiles in a day was 1,000 which was reduced to just 400.
