Last week Asus announced the launch of its Zenfone 8 Series globally. The line-up includes the Asus ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip. Along with the global launch both the smartphones were also scheduled to make their debut in the Indian market but the company had to be postponed the India launch amid COVID-19. The company did not reveal the next launch date but as per a recent listing, both the phones may arrive in the country but will be called Asus 8Z and Asus 8Z Flip.According to a report by GSMArena both the latest Asus Zenfone 8 devices has been spotted through a Google Play supported devices listing. As per the listing, both Zenfone 8 Indian variant with model code I006D has been codenamed as “ASUS 8Z”. Whereas ZenFone 8 Flip has been listed as its original name but the device is most likely to come with an ASUS 8Z Flip branding in India.It is no surprise that Asus Zenfone 8 series will come to India with a slightly changed name. In 2019 Asus was issued an order by the Delhi High Court from selling and advertising smartphones and accessories under the ‘Zen’ trademark. As per the Delhi High Court, the ‘Zen’ and ‘ZenMobile’ fall under the Trade Marks Act, 1999 so it was restrained from selling directly or indirectly mobile phones, accessories and any other related products or goods that fall under the trademark Zen, Zenfone or any identical trademarks.Recently the ahead of the India launch Asus notified that it has deferred the launch till the current scenario improves. Design and Display
So let’s begin with the design first. We found the design of the Micromax In 1 is acceptable and the same goes with the built quality as it comes with a plastic body as well as the frame. It features an X pattern on its rear with different hues that shines when light strikes it. We have the Blue and Purple colour option however, you can go for a subtle gradient black option that also has an X pattern over its back. The best part about its rear panel is that it does not pick up fingerprints very easily and the texture on the rear panel offers a decent grip as well. Despite having a plastic build it does not scratch easily. Although it comes with a back cover, we were confident enough to skip the back cover on this phone. The buttons on the phone are well-positioned with power and volume buttons given on the right side of the frame, which could have been sturdier. On the left, there is a SIM and microSD card slot and a dedicated Google Assistant button. The camera lenses do not protrude as much either, which is great. It should also be noted that inexpensive phones these days offer good design and build quality. Ok, moving on to the display, the Micromax In 1 features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ display with 1,080x,2,400 pixels of resolution with a hole punch cut out. It offers a 20:9 aspect ratio, 91.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, and 400 nits peak brightness as well as slim bezels. The display also gets L1 Widevine support, which means you will be able to stream content at the screen’s full resolution on Netflix, Prime Video, and other OTT platforms. The colour reproduction, viewing angles and brightness levels are impressive. The display is bright enough to be used indoors as well as outdoors also the touch response is good.
Performance and Cameras
On the performance side of things, the Micromax In 1 is powered by 12nm based octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 SoC with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The storage can also be expandable up to 256GB through a dedicated MicroSD card slot. The games on it are playable on medium settings such as Asphalt and COD. There was no noticeable lag or frame drop under these settings. However, if you are looking for a hardcore gaming-centric device you can look somewhere else because this phone is dedicated to casual gaming only. Also after continuous gaming, the plastic does get warm slightly but that is not much of an issue.On the software front, the Micromax In 1 runs Android 10 out of the box. In addition to this, the device will get updates with a monthly security patch for two years which is great. Similar to Motorola smartphones here you get a stock Android experience. The device is bloatware-free and you would not get those annoying advertisements. The mobile ships with both, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock for security. In the past, we have tested a lot of smartphones with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, but this one is so swift to unlock the phone that you are going to love it. The same goes with the face unlock which is equally instant so no issues with the biometrics. Ok, let’s move on to the cameras now, in the Micromax In 1 there is a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and another 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera housed inside a hole-punch cut-out. Frankly speaking apart from the primary lens the remaining depth and the macro sensors are not desirable. The 48-megapixel primary sensor is quite impressive. In daylight, it delivers really nice images. As you can see it offers a good amount of details and balanced exposure. Whereas the colours are close to natural and accurate. Talking about the camera UI there is a separate option for HDR rather than an auto HDR mode, which is disappointing. The Pro mode offers a variety of options, but one thing we liked is that it also includes RAW camera support which is a really good addition. 48-megapixel primary lensPortrait shotmacro shotmacro shotOn the other hand, the 8-megapixel front-facing camera gets details and skin tone right. In terms of videos, the rear and the front cameras offer video recording up to 1080@30FPS from which you can’t expect anything extraordinary. All in all the camera performance of this phone is average. The Micromax In 1 is fuelled by a 5,000mAh battery and its endurance is pretty good. It easily gives a day’s and more battery life when used extensively. While most of the budget phones are restricted to 10 watts charging only, it comes with an 18W fast charging support. The whole charging process takes about two and a half hours to fully charge the smartphone from zero to one hundred per cent.
Conclusion
So let’s wrap it. Truth to be told, everything on the Micromax In 1 is decent. The battery performance is great, which lasts quite a long time. What’s more, is that the 18W charger comes included in the phone box. The device is nice to hold though it has a plastic built and the silicon case also comes included in the box. Also, we did notice that the phone heats up while it is put on change or when the camera app is open, which is kind of weird. Poco is all set to launch a new smartphone in the market. The company has now confirmed to introduce Poco M3 Pro 5G in the Global market. But in the light of COVID-19 Poco will not launch any new phone in the near future in the country but will launch Poco M3 Pro 5G globally on May 19. The company has launched the MediaTek Dimensity 900 is a quad-core chipset that is based on 6nm architecture. This mobile processor comes integrated with Arm Mali-G68 MC4 GPU for the graphics. The successor to the MediaTek Dimensity 820 SoC has been optimised for better photography in any lighting condition, HD video, smooth and lag-free gaming and not to forget super fast 5G connection along with extended battery life. It has support for Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, ultra-fast FHD+ 120Hz displays and a 108MP main camera.“Dimensity 900 brings a suite of connectivity, display and 4K HDR visual enhancements to mid-tier 5G smartphones and gives brands great design flexibility for their 5G portfolios,” said Dr JC Hsu, Corporate VP and GM of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit. “The chipset’s support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 ensures users get the most out of their devices with super-fast and reliable connectivity.”The all-new MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC comes with 2x Arm Cortex-A78 up to 2.4GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 up to 2GHz. The Taiwan based smartphone company, Asus, has officially unveiled its much-anticipated flagship smartphones globally. Yes, the Asus Zenfone 8 series is official now, which includes Asus Zenfone 8 Flip and Zenfone 8. The former one comes with a camera system with a flipping mechanism whereas the latter one has a fixed camera module and is much more compact now. Asus Zenfone 8 Flip and Zenfone 8 Pricing and availabilityThe price of the Asus Zenfone 8 Flip is set at €799 for the 8GB RAM with 256GB of storage that translates to Rs 71,105. This phone is now available for pre-orders in the European market and is expected to be available in more regions soon. Asus Zenfone 8On the other hand, the Asus Zenfone 8 comes in multiple configurations. The price of the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage is set at €599 that translates to Rs 53,207, 8RAM with 128GB storage at €669 (approx Rs 62,090) and 8RAM with 256GB storage at €729 (approx Rs 64,754). Lastly, the 16GB RAM with 256GB storage will be available with a price tag of €799 that translates to around Rs 70,972. All the models are now up for pre-orders and are scheduled to go on sale in Europe and Taiwan starting May 31.Asus Zenfone 8 FlipThis the most premium device from the series and its biggest USP is its camera set up that can flip from rear to front; it may also serve as a selfie camera. This model will be available in two colour options of Galactic Black and Glacier Silver. The Asus Zenfone 8 Flip features a no notch 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate support with a 200Hz touch sampling rate, 700 nits of peak brightness with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The device runs Android 11 with ZenUI 8 and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage which can be expanded using a microSD card.For optics, there is a triple camera with a flip mechanism that includes a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. In addition to this, there is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OmniVision sensor. The camera module is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.The Asus Zenfone 8 Flip lacks an IP rating and a 3.5mm audio jack but does have stereo speakers with dedicated NXP mono amps, NXP amplifiers, and Hi-Res Audio. Moreover, the device packs a 5,000mAh battery supported by 30W fast charging tech. Asus Zenfone 8 Asus Zenfone 8 comes with a small and compact form factor for single-handed usage. It has HDR10+ support with a 20:9 aspect ratio and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and is guarded by Gorilla Glass Victus.The smartphone runs on ZenUI 8 on top of Android 11. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Instead of a flip mechanism, Asus Zenfone 8 has gone with a fixed dual camera set up that includes a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 ultra-wide-angle camera with Dual PDAF that also supports 4cm macro photography. Upfront there is a 12-megapixel selfie camera housed inside a punch hole cut out at the left side corner of the display. The company has updated the Vaio SE14 and the Vaio SX14 with the latest 11th generation Intel core processors. Both the laptops feature minimalist design and durability. The former one comes with an LCD screen while the latter one is highlighted with a 4K display. The devices will be up for sale via the e-commerce website Amazon. Speaking of the specifications Vaio SE14 has a 14-inch Full HD IPS anti-glare LCD screen with 1920×1080 pixels of resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. On the software front, the Micromax In 1 runs Android 10 out of the box. In addition to this, the device will get updates with a monthly security patch for two years which is great. Similar to Motorola smartphones here you get a stock Android experience. The device is bloatware-free and you would not get those annoying advertisements. The mobile ships with both, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock for security. In the past, we have tested a lot of smartphones with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, but this one is so swift to unlock the phone that you are going to love it. The same goes with the face unlock which is equally instant so no issues with the biometrics.
Ok, let’s move on to the cameras now, in the Micromax In 1 there is a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and another 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera housed inside a hole-punch cut-out. Frankly speaking apart from the primary lens the remaining depth and the macro sensors are not desirable. The 48-megapixel primary sensor is quite impressive. In daylight, it delivers really nice images. As you can see it offers a good amount of details and balanced exposure. Whereas the colours are close to natural and accurate. Talking about the camera UI there is a separate option for HDR rather than an auto HDR mode, which is disappointing. The Pro mode offers a variety of options, but one thing we liked is that it also includes RAW camera support which is a really good addition.

Redmi Note 10S tech specs
Redmi Note 10S is highlighted with a 6.43-inch full-HD+ display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution. It also offers a 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio, brightness up to 1,100 nits and SGS low blue light certification. This AMOLED display also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. On the software front, the phone runs MIUI 12.5 on top on top of Android 11 and is powered by MediaTek Helio G95 SoC, paired with Mail-G76 MC4 GPU for graphics and up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
