WhatsApp spotted testing Instagram, Messenger like message reaction feature on its platform

0
Soon WhatsApp will be introducing message reaction features on its platform. The upcoming features will be similar to what we have seen on Instagram and Messenger. As of now the functionality is under development and has been spotted by the WhatApp updates tracker. The users will be able to apply their favourite emojis as message reactions the way they do on Twitter and iMessage. As per the latest screenshot shared by WABetaInfo possibly, WhatsApp will release the Message Reactions feature in a future update. As shown in the shared screenshot a message contains 7 reactions that are possible to react to using any emoji you want. As per the report, the reaction isn’t anonymous, so everyone in the conversation will be able to see who reacted to a specific message. To those who are unaware Message reaction is a way to express emotions via emojis and other social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, iMessage already support this feature.

The screenshot was taken from a version of WhatsApp for iOS but reportedly the WhatsApp Message Reaction functionality on WhatsApp beta for Android is under the pipeline. “Seen that the feature is under development, things may change before the release, but this is the current situation: any emoji can be used and everyone can see who reacted,” the report stated. Previously the chatting application owned by Facebook was spotted testing WhatsApp: reactions. The instant messaging app at first is likely to present a message when the user is using an outdated version of WhatsApp that does not support receiving reactions. Suppose the user is using an outdated version of the app, in that case then they will not be able to see the reaction but WhatsApp will present a different message, asking to update WhatsApp to see the reaction. Besides WhatsApp for Android and iOS, this feature is also expected to be expanded to the Web/Desktop version as well. As of now, there are no exact details when the company will officially announce message reaction but hopefully, it may arrive to devices in the future updates.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Qualcomm introduced Bluetooth aptX Lossless Audio feature to its Snapdragon Sound Technology

After Apple’s introduction of lossless audio to provide high-quality audio streaming to its subscriber the American chipset maker, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., has introduced aptX Lossless as its new sound support. This is the company’s latest feature of Snapdragon Sound Technology which is intended to offer lossless audio streaming for Bluetooth enabled devices like wireless headphones and TWS earbuds. Qualcomm has announced the introduction of aptX Lossless Bluetooth codec as a part of the Snapdragon Sound platform that will be offering  Bluetooth CD-quality audio 16-bit 44.1kHz over Bluetooth wireless technology. The company has optimised a number of core wireless connectivity and audio technologies, including aptX Adaptive, which work together to auto-detect and scale up and are designed to deliver CD lossless audio when a user is listening to a lossless music file and the RF conditions are suitable. As per Qualcomm, aptX Lossless will not only offer CD lossless audio quality reliably over Bluetooth wireless technology but aptX Adaptive works in conjunction with Qualcomm Bluetooth High-Speed Link technology to help deliver the required sustainable data throughput.  Qualcomm introduced Bluetooth aptX Lossless Audio feature to its Snapdragon Sound Technology Moreover, it has been designed to offer rates beyond 1Mbit/s yet smoothly scale down to 140kbits/s in congested RF environments to minimize any audio dropouts or glitches for a consistent and reliable listening experience. aptX Lossless will support 44.1kHz, 16-bit CD lossless audio quality. The users will be able to select between CD lossless audio 44.1kHz and 24-bit 96kHz lossy. The latest sound technology by Qualcomm can auto-detect to enable CD lossless audio when the source is lossless audio. It also optimises the listening experience with Snapdragon Sound. The Qualcomm Aqstic technology will ensure that the user can play extra loud music without damaging the phone’s speaker. You also get a super wideband voice with Snapdragon sound. It provides a narrowband voice 8kHz sampled audio with a 4kHz frequency response which is equivalent to POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) quality. Moreover, you get Wideband voice 16kHz sampled audio with 8kHz frequency response and Super wideband voice quality at 32kHz using aptX voice for crystal clear voice calls. Snapdragon Sound with aptX Lossless technology is helpful in retaining the originality of content bit for bit, resulting in music identical to the original recording. It’s designed to scale up to deliver 16-bit 44.1kHz Lossless CD quality when users are listening to lossless streaming source content, like Amazon HD, and it can scale back the bit-rate in busy RF environments to ensure no drop-outs or audio glitches. Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless review: Excellent for work and play

Sennheiser recently launched a wonderful pair of Bluetooth headphones in the market that are built for both professional and music lovers. We spent some time with the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless Bluetooth earphones to find out what they are all about. This is the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless review you all have been waiting for.

Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless review: Design

Sennheiser has always been good with its packaging. As soon as you cut open the seal and pull the cardboard tray out of the box you get to see the shiny Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless BT earphones that are tucked in a nice foam encloser. The box also has a 3.5mm auxiliary wire (in case you run out of battery juice) and a USB Type-C charging cable with a small carry case, which reminded us of a similar spectacle case our grandmother used to use. Moving on, the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless earphones are designed to perfection. They do look like the Sennheiser IE 300 earphones we reviewed recently, but they have a distinct personality. The basic shape of the earphone is the same, however, the enclosure is opaque. You can see the machinery inside. Also, a wire with the battery enclosure on one side and volume with power controls on the other side connects the two. Sennheiser-IE-100-Pro-Wireless-wires The Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless earphones fit very nicely in the ear cavity and the adjustable wire end goes behind the ear. With that 2 additional pairs of ear tips are provided in the box (small and large). Overall, the look and design of the audio earphones is very nice, everything about them screams style

Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless review: Performance

Let’s quickly talk about the tech specs of the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless earphones before we talk about our audio experience with them. This nifty gadget comes with 2 years of warranty, works with any Bluetooth 5.0 driven device, and supports AptX, AAC and SBC codecs. The frequency response is between 20Hz to 18kHz, and the impedance is set at 20 Ohm. The audio neckband also has a microphone for you to make and receive calls. We used them in a couple of Zoom calls on the PC and took it out for a run. Both times we were very impressed. The sound quality is far superior to any BT neckband we have used in recent times. The audio calls were clear and other party could hear us well too. The same is when you listen to music, the bass is perfect and high and lows are very audible. No matter what genre of music we threw at the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless audio earplugs, Jazz, rocks, EDM, Bollywood et al, they just managed to bring out the best. Sennheiser-IE-100-Pro-Wireless-earphones Battery life is not bad either. The company claims these can last for 10 hours when fully charges, but we got about 8.5 hours out of them. To fully charge them using the supplied USB Type-C cable it took about 1.5 hours, which some might feel is a bit high, but we suggest you can put them to charge when you wake up and take them with you when you are leaving the house, this way you will get you workday battery life. In case you run out of it, Sennheiser has supplied the users with a 3.5mm aux cable in the box.

Verdict

All in all, we quite liked the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless earphones. They sound great, they look good, and they never fell out even when we went for a run with them. At Rs 9,899 (Amazon price) these are an extremely good pair of earphones that cancel noise passively and provide superior sound quality.

Pro

Excellent sound quality Good built Long battery life

Cons

No ANC Some might find it a bit costly For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. WhatsApp chat transfer from iOS to Samsung Android feature released: Here is how to do it

WhatsApp has announced a very important feature for multiple Samsung Mobiles. Yes, the feature to transfer WhatsApp chat from iOS to Samsung devices is now being rolled out. So now iOS users can easily transfer their photos, videos and more to their latest Galaxy Smartphones and soon across all the devices. With the arrival of the chat migration feature transferring chats from iPhone to Samsung devices will no longer be a hassle for the iOS user now. iPhone users can easily transfer WhatsApp chats to Android phones starting with Samsung devices. To recall this feature was first revealed at the recently held Galaxy Unpacked event for Samsung’s latest foldable device.  While announcing the feature WhatsApp said that this has been a highly requested feature by the user as when changing the operating system (OS), meaning they switch from one platform to another, their chat history should also be transferred. Also, it has worked hard with companies that manufacture operating systems and devices to create a secure and reliable method. So now there is a feature to move all your WhatsApp chats from iPhone to a Samsung Android device. In this process, your messages, such as voice messages, photos and videos, are not sent to WhatsApp. Currently, this feature will be available on any Samsung device running Android 10 or later. According to WhatsApp, this feature will be made available on more Android devices soon.  So when you set up a new device, you’ll be given the option to securely transfer your chats from the old device to the new device. This process will require a USB-C type data cable. According to the company only WhatsApp account information, profile photos, chats, group chats, media, and settings are transferable whereas you cannot transfer your call history or your name (display name) visible to contacts on WhatsApp.

How to transfer WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android devices?

In order to migrate from iOS to Android one needs to get the Samsung SmartSwitch app 3.7.22.1 or higher installed on their new device. Also, the old device is required to have WhatsApp with iOS 2.21.160.17 or higher and then it must be running WhatsApp running Android 2.21.16.20 or higher. You must have a USB-C to Lightning cable (or a similar adapter). The same phone number on the new device as you were using on the old device must be used and must have a new Android device or it must be reset to factory settings. So now that’s done, turn on your Samsung device and when prompted, connect to the iPhone via cable. After this follow the instructions on the Samsung Smart Switch app. When you are asked to scan the QR code displayed on the new device with the iPhone’s camera. Now tap on Get started on your iPhone and wait for the process to complete. Continue setting up a new Samsung device. Once you reach the home screen, open WhatsApp and log in with the same number you were using on your old iPhone. The notification will appear and tap Import and let the process complete. Your chats will appear after your new phone has been activated. Also, note that the data in your old iPhone will still be there until you delete it or WhatsApp. Your WhatsApp call history cannot be transferred from iPhone to Samsung device and Peer-to-peer payment messaging.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Nothing Ear 1 review: The first step in the right direction

For years we have been seeing custom designs of smartphones like the iPhone or OnePlus by various designers with transparent back panels. This always made us wonder why the makers/companies don’t do the same in the first place? Also, when will we see gadgets with transparent panels? Half a decade later a company did hear our thoughts and here comes a pair of TWS earphones by Nothing (a fresh company started by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus) called Ear (1). The audio earplugs are not fully transparent with only the stems being see-through, they do come close to what we had pictured. We got to play around with these hot-off-the-press earphones, and this is Nothing Ear 1 review you should not miss.

Nothing Ear 1 review: Design

The company has thought about the presentation a lot. Starting from the packaging to the actual earphones we can see a lot of sleepless nights and effort. While strip pulling open the card box exteriors, it reminded us of the Wrigley chewing gum wrapper. In the same manner, you get a red pull apart strip to get to the yummy treasure inside. Once you unbox, you get to see a great looking transparent box of the Nothing Ear 1 earphones. Nothing-Ear-1-with-box The top lid has a magnetic clip that shuts easily. Open it and you get to see the wonderfully made Nothing Ear 1 earphones that weigh 4.7 grams. The case weighs another 57.4 grams over it, which also has the battery inside in a sparkling white encasing. Both the earphones are magnetic that are held in place in each cavity in the case (securely). As said, the stem of both the audio earplugs are transparent and one can see a lot of the interior. The top part of the earphones is white in colour with a silicone tip attachment to hold them in place firmly in the user’s ear. Talking about which, the Nothing Ear 1 come with 3 pairs of silicone ear tips. Small, medium (already on the earphones) and large ones come in the box. With these users also get a USB charging cable. One can use any USB charger to charge the audio plugs via the case. The case has a USB Type-C charging port, a button to turn on BT pairing and an LED light to tell you the battery life etc.

Nothing Ear 1 review: Performance

Coming from the house of Carl Pei, we had very high expectations from Nothing Ear 1. Did it deliver? On most counts, yes, but we can see some teething issues, which we are sure will become better over time. So, let’s talk about the performance of these sound earphones. They have 11.6mm dynamic audio drivers inside the shell that can produce some groovy tunes at a very high volume. Nothing-Ear-1-earphones The sound is very good, and bass is something the company has worked on. We for one had very little to complain about here. But when compared to the already dominant Sony and Bose, these were a step or two behind. Nonetheless, that is not a bad thing, as the price segment these are in. You can buy one Nothing Ear 1 for each member of your family, in the same price you get one of Sony’s or Bose’s ANC earphones. The ANC (active noise cancellation) is there in Nothing Ear 1 too, but it is not the best. We would keep it in the teething issue box for now and not emphasise on it much. One can easily pair them with any mobile or even a laptop. Users get features like in-ear detection, IPX 4 splash resistance and apps for both iOS and Android devices. The app has a couple of equalizer functions and enables the users to customise taps or triple taps. While we are on the topic, the touch sensitivity of the stem is quite nice. Users can slide the finger from top to bottom or vice versa to control the volume on (both) the Nothing Ear 1 earphones. In the same way double tap to pause or play the music and triple tap to skip tracks. Users can also press and hold to turn ANC on or off. Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, AVRCP and HFP are supported here. The battery life of the Nothing Ear 1 could have been better. They lasted for 4.25 hours for us after being fully charged. The box does provide additional up to 34 hours of charge, if ANC is off, or 24 hours if ANC is on. But a couple of hours on the earphones itself would have been better for the music of video bingers. Nothing-Ear-1-box

Verdict

All in all, Nothing Ear 1 at Rs 5,999 are somewhat of a disruptor in the Indian market. Good sound, exceptional looks, and almost good ANC in a sub 6K price bracket is worth a pick-up. If you are looking for new earphones that look good and sound great, your search ends here.

Samsung launched its new flagship 200MP ISOCELL HP1, 50MP ISOCELL GN5 mobile image sensors

The cameras are one of the most important aspects of smartphones these days, therefore refuting the need to carry an extra camera. Till now 100MP has been the highest resolution a smartphone camera could hold but Samsung has now introduced a 200MP image sensor. The company has announced a new range of camera sensors for smartphones with a resolution higher than any being sold in the market. The ISOCELL HP1 200-megapixel (MP) image sensor has 0.64μm pixels. Whereas the 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN5 takes on all all-directional focusing Dual Pixel Pro technology with two photodiodes in a single 1.0μm pixel. Duckhyun Chang, executive vice president of sensor business at Samsung Electronics said at the launch said, “Samsung has been pioneering ultrafine pixel technologies that are taking high-resolution image sensors to the next level. With the ISOCELL HP1 that is breaking barriers and ISOCELL GN5 bringing ultrafast autofocus, Samsung will continue to lead the trend for next-generation mobile imaging technologies.” The South Korean giant is expected to use the ISOCELL HP1 sensor on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which is capable of supporting 200MP of resolution. Samsung 200MP image sensor It is based on the company’s latest 0.64μm-sized pixels. The newly launched mobile image sensor is for the purpose of low-light photography, as it features an all-new ChameleonCell technology. This is a pixel-binning technology that makes use of a two-by-two, four-by-four or full pixel layout depending on the environment.  In low light situations, the ISOCELL HP1 reconstructs into a 12.5MP image sensor with large 2.56μm pixels by homogenizing 16 neighbouring pixels at once. As per Samsung, the entirely new 2.56μm pixel is capable of more light absorption and sensitivity, producing brighter and clearer photos indoors or in the evening. While in a well-lit environment or when outdoors the sensor’s 200-million pixels can capture ultra-high-definition photography on mobile devices. In addition to this Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 is capable of recording 8K videos at 30 frames-per-second (fps) with minimum loss in the field of view. This sensor can also bin four neighbouring pixels to bring the resolution down to 50MP or 8,192 x 6,144 to take 8K (7,680 x 4,320) videos without the need to crop or scale down the full image resolution. On the other hand, the 50MP ISOCELL GN5 is the industry’s first 1.0μm image sensor to equip Dual Pixel Pro. This technology is an all-directional autofocusing technology that significantly augments its autofocusing capabilities. This technology places two photodiodes, the smallest in the industry, within each 1.0μm pixel of the sensor either horizontally or vertically to recognize pattern changes in all directions.   ISOCELL GN5 Samsung’s ISOCELL GN5 autofocusing speeds up to produce sharper images in all lighting conditions. This mobile image sensor also utilizes Samsung’s proprietary pixel technology to apply Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) on a Dual Pixel product. Without being affected by the microscopic photodiode size, FDTI allows each photodiode to absorb and hold more light information, improving the photodiodes’ full-well capacity (FWC) and decreasing crosstalk within the pixel. Twitter introduces Safety Mode, its new safety feature for iOS, Android and web platform

Microblogging platform Twitter introduced a new safety feature called Safety Mode on its platform. This safety function will be available to iOS, Android, and Twitter.com. As of now, the functionality is available to a limited number of users to block accounts for using potentially harmful language. Twitter’s new Safety Mode is now rolling out and aims to reduce disruptive interactions. The safety feature is being released to a small feedback group on iOS, Android, and Twitter.com, beginning with accounts that have English-language settings enabled. This enables users to temporarily block accounts for seven days for using potentially harmful language — such as insults or hateful remarks — or sending repetitive and uninvited replies or mentions. The Safety Mode on Twitter can be easily turned on from the setting. When this functionality is enabled the company’s systems assess the likelihood of a negative engagement by considering both the Tweet’s content and the relationship between the Tweet author and replier.  “Our technology takes existing relationships into account, so accounts you follow or frequently interact with will not be auto blocked,” as stated by the social media platform. As per Twitter if someone’s tweet is found to be harmful or uninvited will be autoblocked, meaning they’ll temporarily be unable to follow your account, see your Tweets, or send the user Direct Messages. However, the users will be able to find info related to the Tweets flagged through Safety Mode and view the details of temporarily blocked accounts at any time. Also when each Safety Mode period ends they will receive a notification recapping this information.  With the launch of Safety Mode, Twitter attempts to protect the individual on the receiving end of Tweets by reducing the prevalence and visibility of harmful remarks. Like we told you earlier this function is being tested on a limited number of users but Twitter is working to make this feature available to everyone. Twitter announced the Super Follows feature on its platform, a new way for creators to generate income: How can you set up a super follow subscription?

Popular Social media website Twitter today announced the launch of a new feature for the creators on its platform. The Super Follow features will allow them to earn revenue every month when they only share subscriber related content with their followers on Twitter.  Commenting on the launch Esther Crawford, Staff Product Manager at Twitter said, “Today we’re excited to introduce Super Follows, a new way for people to earn monthly revenue by sharing subscriber-only content with their followers on Twitter. With Super Follows, people can create an extra level of conversation on Twitter (sharing bonus Tweets and more!) to interact authentically with their most engaged followers – all while earning money.” According to Esther, this feature is for anyone who can offer unique perspectives and personalities to the platform to drive the public conversation, including activists, journalists, musicians, content curators, writers, gamers, astrology enthusiasts, skincare and beauty experts, comedians, fantasy sports experts, and more.  Creating Super Follows content will allow the people to set a monthly subscription of $2.99, $4.99 or $9.99 a month to monetize bonus, “behind-the-scenes” content for their most engaged followers on Twitter.  In addition to this, the followers will get special access to their unfiltered thoughts, early previews and subscriber-only conversations from their favourite accounts. The creators will be able to find and interact with their Super Followers by looking for the Super Followers badge. These public badges will be highlighted under their Super Followers name whenever they reply to a creator’s Tweet.

How and who can set up Super Follow Subscription?

As for now, the Super Follow feature will be accessible for iOS users in the US and Canada. According to Twitter a small group within the U.S. who applied can set up a Super Follows subscription. However the users can continue to apply to join the waitlist to set up a Super Follows subscription by swiping open the sidebar on your Home timeline, tapping on Monetization, then selecting Super Follows.  How and who can set up Super Follow Subscription? Also, there is eligibility for the waitlist at the moment. The users need to have over 10K followed and should have attained 18 years of age. They have tweeted 25 times within the last 30 days, been in the U.S., and follow the Super Follows Policy. The microblogging website will be rolling it out to people using iOS globally in the next few weeks. Creators can share Super Follows Tweets on iOS only and Super Follows Tweets can be viewed on iOS, with Android and twitter.com coming soon.  How to subscribe for Super Follow? All you need to do is tap the Super Follow button on an account’s profile to see a description of their paid offerings and pricing. The interested ones can again tap to subscribe via in-app payment. Immediately upon subscribing to Super Follow on Twitter you can only see subscriber-only content in your Timeline and you can unsubscribe at any time in your App Store subscription settings for iOS. How to subscribe for Super Follow? “As a Super Follower, you can join conversations that only other subscribers can see and reply to. For now, Super Followers can get special access to subscriber-only Tweets, with more to come in the future like Super Follows-only Spaces, newsletters, the choice to opt into different subscription tiers that creators can offer, the ability to subscribe anonymously and more. And don’t worry, public Tweets aren’t going anywhere,” Twitter noted. How to use WebOTP API in Google Chrome to receive OTPs from smartphone to PC

Google Chrome is a widely used web browser on both PC and mobile. The best feature of this browser is its cross-platform capabilities. Chrome 93 is the company’s latest update. Now you can receive OTP from your Smartphone directly onto your system. It can be very helpful for things like accepting payment without the hassle of you picking your phone again and again. The WebOTP API gives the website the ability to programmatically obtain the OTP directly from your verified smartphone and fill it for you. Here is how you can use the demo to see how it works.

Things required

  1. A system is either a laptop or a PC running on either Windows, macOS or ChromeOS.
  2. An Android phone with Google Play Services version 20.30.12 or higher.
  3. Another smartphone with running SMS functionality for the verification and test process.
  4. Chrome 93 or later, both on desktop or laptop and mobile. (Chrome 93 was released today and may not be directly available to all the devices, check for updates)
  5. Both the smartphone and system should be signed to Google Chrome with the same Google account.
  6. Make sure Google Chrome 93 is the default browser.

How to use the demo

  1. Head to https://web-otp-demo.glitch.me/ on desktop. Click the Verify button after reading the instruction on the screen.
  2. Send the text msg mentioned on the screen exactly from a second phone to an android device.
3. After the SMS is delivered to the android device there will be a popup on-screen on your desktop asking you to verify your phone number. Press Submit to approve. 4. There will be an OTP generated and sent to you on your Android phone which will be automatically fetched by your desktop version of Google Chrome 93. It’s good to see that Google constantly tries to make the already good browser better with its quality updates. This feature will be implemented by a lot of websites to make the process of OTP sharing easy. It will also be a big step on security as the SMS has a specific format and it’s bound to the origin, so it mitigates the risk of phishing websites stealing the OTP and will make two-factor authentication a hassle-free process.
