Fitbit Luxe review: The pricey stunner

Whenever we get a Fitbit device to review, it makes us excited. This time, we got Fitbit Luxe, which is even targeted towards women, so we were all the more eager to find out what the activity tracker is like. We spent almost two weeks with Fitbit Luxe, and here’s our review detailing its pros and cons:

Fitbit Luxe review: Design

As far as the design of Fitbit Luxe goes, we found it to be quite nice to look at. It is very compact and is one among the smallest fitness trackers we have come across. In fact, the dimensions of the device are just 1.43 x 0.69-inch x 0.4 inches. While the front is dominated by a 0.76-inch colour AMOLED display, there are charging pins and sensors placed on the back, and they are used for various functions of the activity tracker including heart rate and Sp02 tracking. Interestingly, there are no physical buttons on the activity tracker – something that we quite liked about it as it made our user experience better. The housing of the Fitbit Luxe is accompanied by rubberised straps that are available in four colour options – Lunar White/Soft Gold, Black/Graphite, Orchid/Platinum, and a Gold coloured model that’s touted as a special edition by the company. The one that we got for review was dressed in Black. It is worth mentioning that the body of Fitbit Luxe is water-resistant up to 50 meters and hence, you can wear it while you go for swimming – something we count as a big plus. The display of the device showed all the figures clearly and its sunlight readability was not a problem too. It should also be pointed out that during our time with the fitness tracker, its display never got any scratches. On the downside, the tiny size of the display meant that at times, we had difficulty reading the text, especially the notifications of calls and messages. This was a real problem. Fitbit Luxe 2 Now, let’s talk about setting up the Fitbit Luxe. It was pretty easy to get started with the device. All you have to do is put it on charging and then download the Fitbit app on your smartphone. Enable Bluetooth and then follow all the steps mentioned on the app. You would have to give some information about yourself, and a few permissions to access notifications and more, and then enter a four-digit number that appears on the tracker to complete the pairing. It was a smooth process and didn’t take long at all. Once paired, the device runs well. We didn’t encounter a problem like seeing characters in a different language or not getting notified about the activity on our phone.

Fitbit Luxe review: Performance

Coming to the performance of Fitbit Luxe, we don’t see any reason for you to not be happy with it. Let’s first talk about what all it can do. Fitbit Luxe tracks your steps, identifies and monitors your exercise and workout sessions, keeps a track of your heart rate, Sp02 level and sleep. In fact, the sleep data that we got was pretty extensive and the Fitbit app showed us the time we spent awake in bed, our rapid eye movement or REM, and Light and Deep Sleep. The time depicted in the stats taken by the tracker were mostly accurate too. We have always maintained that tracking steps is not the best thing to do with any activity tracker or smartwatch because most of them track movement, and Fitbit Luxe is no exception to it. So if you wear it while driving or even finding something in your closet, be prepared to see around 500 extra steps. But besides that, other data like heart rate, Sp02 and even workout was correct. We compared the heart rate and Sp02 stats we got on Fitbit with those on other devices, and it always matched. Fitbit Luxe 3 As far as the workout tracking goes, the activity tracker was smart enough to recognize when we started exercising on its own. Fitbit calls this feature as ‘Auto Exercise Recognition’ and, as the name suggests, it helps the device know what kind of exercise is being performed by the person using the tracker. During our time with the device it recognised Aerobics, Walking and Running. The app showed us detailed data that included Average BPM, Time Spent and Calories burnt. It is vital to note, however, that Fitbit Luxe does not support GPS, so for best results, you must keep it close to your phone when exercising, or rather specifically – running. But is it really practical to keep your phone with yourself while running? We don’t think it’s always possible. The battery life of Fitbit Luxe was decent too, and it lasted a little more than 5 days for us on a single charge, which means that it meets the expectation that the company has set.

Verdict

Although there are a lot of good aspects of the Fitbit Luxe, like its beautiful design, smooth performance, and lasting battery, it also lacks some important features like GPS. Even the display of the device is so small that it can be difficult to read the text at times. There are more affordable options in the market that offer more features. However, if you are a Fitbit fan, then and only then should you spend Rs 10,999 on it. Pros
  • Beautiful design
  • Smooth performance
  • Lasting battery
Cons
  • No GPS
  • Small display
  • Too pricey for features it offers

Emphasis on a digital ecosystem for skilling and livelihood points to the much-needed market oriented digital skills development”. “ It has been the industry’s request for some time to bring digital assets and currency in the regulatory framework and it is heartening to note that the Hon’ble FM and Hon’ble PM have recognised the sector. Taxation and TDS on Digital Assets have come as a sudden move for the industry. It might hit user sentiments in the short term; however, we shall see how the ecosystem evolves in the country and are committed to work as per the rule of the land.” by Arun Pandey, Co-founder, Beyondlife.club Also Read: Union Budget 2022 highlights: Here is everything about top tech-related announcements and cryptocurrency Suraj Malik, Partner, BDO India (M&A) said, Budget has laid out foundation for the pillars of growth without too much tinkering in the tax laws. FM has focused on digital and tech enabled macro growth with micro participation backed by incentives and targeted policy reforms to support MSME, startups, innovation and domestic manufacturing.  Reduction in surcharge rates and stability in tax policy will boost investor sentiment. Mr Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO SPPL, Exclusive Brand Licensee of THOMSON in India said, “This budget has been more like announcements and slogans, I’m surprised how FM missed on health and education, which are two main pillars of the economy, despite the pandemic. Coming back to consumer electronics, on one hand the government talks about how electronics will contribute 1 trillion to the economy and on the other for consumer electronics no major announcements, no roadmaps have been given to the industry. The Government should have assured to reduce the GST tax slab from 28% to 18%, despite collecting more than 1 lakh cr on MoM basis.Few signs of encouragement that 5G will be launched this year, this will have a direct impact on sales of televisions. As consumers will upgrade to smart TV’s and will have better content quality. The Government has spoken about adding 80 lakhs affordable homes, which will benefit the consumer electronics industry. Apart from that we were expecting big announcements on inflation, income tax, manufacturing sector etc which could have improved market sentiments.” “The budget gave a futuristic feel of things to come with focus on technology and enabling digital for the country’s growth. The government’s support to startups involved in drone tech will help fulfill the dreams of drone deliveries. The support on EV infrastructure will be a boon for startups in the EV space. With respect to taxations, the reduction in long term capital gains taxation will certainly benefit startups. Quite a few things were desired for the startup space, but these are welcome moves” by Mr Ravi Mittal, Founder & CEO of QuackQuack “Extending ECLGS with an increase in allocation from 50 thousand to 5 lakh crore is a welcome step by the Indian Government to empower the hardest Covid-hit MSMEs to cope with the challenges arising out of the Pandemic Situation” by Mr Rajesh Gupta, CTO & Co-founder at BUSY Accounting Software  No explicit rise in the stock market post-budget announcement is a clear indicator that the business community isn’t really excited. There is not much for startups except for the upsurge in Tax Incentives concerning three to four years old incorporations. Overall the government is eyeing stability post the third Covid wave, which is demonstrated less aggressive in Budget 2022 by Mr Siddhartha Vanvani, Founder & CEO, Digidarts. Mr Rajeev Sharma, Chief Strategy Officer, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. said, “This is a growth-oriented Budget, I am sure that stepping up the capital expenditure sharply by 35.4% will have an incremental effect on the overall growth of the economy. It is good that the policy makers understand that nearly half of our population is likely to be living in urban areas by 2047, when India is at 100. The announcement for urban capacity building like mass transit, planning help, etc. would act as a good principle for development of the country. The budget has demonstrated a good balance between today’s needs and the future’s demand.” For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. The crypto bill was supposed to be presented during the winter session last year which also did not happen. For the time being, India’s attitude on cryptocurrency regulation is unknown. No deduction in respect of any expenditure or allowance shall be allowed while computing such income, except the cost of acquisition,” Sitharaman stated. tech related announcements at Budget 2022

Digital Rupee

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today revealed the RBI plans to launch a digital rupee utilising blockchain technology in 2022-23. According to her, India would receive its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) this year, which will be controlled by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She also believes that this will give a boost to the economy.

Digital Payment

Plans to establish 75 Digital Banking facilities in 75 districts throughout the nation to commemorate India’s 75th year of independence. Also, all or 1.5 lakh post offices will be included in core banking, allowing for internet transfers of funds between post offices and bank accounts. Digital University

Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman at the Union Budget Session 2022 announced the setting up of a Digital University to give access to students to world-class universal education with a customised learning experience. This will be offered in a variety of Indian languages and ICT forms. PM eVIDYA’s ‘One class, one TV channel’ initiative would be expanded from 12 to 200 TV channels.

5G services

The government will hold a spectrum auction this year to help commercial telecom carriers build out 5G services during the fiscal year 2022-23. “Spectrum auctions will be held in 2022 to support the roll-out of 5G mobile services by private telecom companies between 2022 and 2023,” Sitharaman added. According to her, the telecommunications sector has the potential to facilitate growth and provide job possibilities. As part of the PLI project, a design-led manufacturing scheme will be established to create a robust ecosystem for 5G. The contract for installing optical fibre in all villages, including distant places, will be granted under the PPP BharatNet project in 2022-23. She further stated that 5% of yearly receipts under the universal service requirement budget will be earmarked to allow affordable broadband and mobile service proliferation in rural and isolated locations.

E-Passports and Drone Shakti

Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance, stated that e-passports with integrated chips will be issued in 2022-23 to assist residents with their foreign travel. Apart from this, the FM has also announced at the Union Budget 2022 session that “Drone Shakti” will be pushed by entrepreneurs to simplify applications and the use of drones as a service.

Electric Vehicles (EV)

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed that the government will implement a battery swapping policy where EV owners will be able to refill their vehicles by exchanging spent batteries for charged ones. This will increase the usage of electric vehicles in the country due to space restrictions for putting up charging stations. This will also reduce the time required to charge the integrated batteries in EVs. She indicated that the private sector would be encouraged for the development of battery or energy services. Also, people will be encouraged to take public transportation in cities. This will be supplemented by clean technology and governance solutions, special mobility zones with zero-fossil-fuel policies, and electric automobiles.

Gaming

At the Union Budget 2022 session, the Finance Minister also revealed that an AVGC (a task force on animation visual effects, gaming and comic promotion) will be established in India to hire young artists. The AVGC will collaborate with all stakeholders to suggest solutions to identify strategies to service markets and worldwide demand. In addition to this Stated will be urged to use Unique Land Parcel Identification Numbers to facilitate IT-based administration of land records.

Mobile phones and Electronics

Customs duty rates have been adjusted to give a more comprehensive rate structure to support local production of wearable devices, shareable gadgets, and electronic smart metres. Duty exemptions are being granted for mobile phone transformer components, chargers, camera lenses for mobile camera modules, and other similar products. “This will enable domestic manufacturing of high growth electronic items,” She said. Google to combine Gmail, Meet, Chat and Spaces to offer a new integrated view

Google has announced that a revamped version of Gmail will be available to the users soon. The company is going to combine Gmail, Meet, Chat and Spaces for an Integrated View. This will decrease the need to switch between different apps, windows, or tabs. The redesigned version of Gmail is said to be available to Workspace users later this month and to all the users by the second quarter of 2022. The modifications are part of the company’s upgrades to its email service for Workspace clients announced last year, as Google strives to seamlessly combine Google Chat, Meet, and Spaces under its workplace offering. As per Google’s Workplace blog the users will be able to begin testing the new integrated view on February 8. “We’re introducing a new, integrated view for Gmail, making it easy to move between critical applications like Gmail, Chat and Meet in one unified location.” the blog post noted. Google integrated view for workplace When enabled, the new navigation menu allows you to quickly transition between inbox, critical discussions, and meetings without having to switch tabs or open a new window. Notification bubbles will make it simple to remain on top of what needs your immediate attention. When working in Chat and Spaces, you may view a complete list of chats and Spaces on a single page, making it easier to browse to and connect with them. When working in your inbox, you’ll be able to see the whole set of Mail and Label choices that are now accessible in Gmail. According to reports, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro India and global launch is expected to take place in February. However, the smartphone’s specific release date is unknown at this time but the device is said to be a rebranded model of the Motorola Edge X30.  To recall, the Moto X30 was introduced in China in December last year and then also the India launch was tipped for January or February. The design of the Motorola Edge 30 Pro is speculated to differ from the X30 but the processor is expected to remain the same. Samsung Galaxy A22 5G Long Term Review: Same design but still looks premium

In this review, the device we’ll be talking about is part of Samsung’s A Series of smartphones, which looks stunning and places a strong emphasis on the camera. So yes, this is our long-term review of the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G. The new smartphone boasts a 48-megapixel triple-camera array on the back, a 90Hz display, and 11 5G bands for enhanced connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G review: Design and Display

We were given the Mint colour choice during the evaluation, which looks excellent. Grey and violet colour options are very intriguing. We feel that the light colour option is the safest since it attracts fewer fingerprints and smudges. Aside from that, the design will appeal to you. It has a more premium appearance than the other smartphones in the F and M series. Despite the fact that the back and frame are made of plastic, the build quality is rather good. Our phone has developed some scrapes on the back over time, thus you should be extra cautious when using it or just place it in a cover to be safe. Samsung Galaxy A22 5G review: Design and Display In addition, the 5G smartphone is light, weighing 203gms. As a result, this gadget lends itself well to one-handed use. As previously said, the smartphone’s design is appealing due to its distinct colour options and polish; otherwise, it has the same monotonous form factor that we have seen on practically all Samsung M, A, and F series handsets. Again, the standard triple camera sensors are placed inside a square module with a flashlight on the back. When it comes to the front, it sports hefty bezels and an old waterdrop notch. The chin area is relatively thicker than the bezels on the sides. Samsung Galaxy A22 5G review: Design and Display The edges are curved, and there is a power button and volume rocker on the right side of the frame. The fingerprint sensor is included as the power button works as an FP sensor, too. It is just at the ideal place for your fingers to reach and unlock the phone quickly. We were unsatisfied with the display’s characteristics since, with its huge bezels and teardrop notch with FHD resolution, it already looked ancient. The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G does, indeed, have a 6.6-inch full-HD+ display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. We noted that the typography and app logos are less distinct when compared to the M32. However, due to its outstanding quality, many people will not be concerned.  Samsung Galaxy A22 5G pros and cons On the good side, the display’s colours are bright, and its touch sensitivity is superb, with a refresh rate of 90Hz (as said). So, you see, it’s not all that bad. The brightness is acceptable indoors, but it is less bright when used outside on a bright sunny day, and the ambient light sensor is slow. When it comes to audio, the Galaxy A22 5G has a mono speaker that is not super loud, but decent enough for watching YouTube videos. Nevertheless, if you are a true audiophile, you will lose depth and lighter audio nuances.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G review: Performance and Cameras

We found the Galaxy A55 5G to be smooth and fast in terms of performance, due to the efficient octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. Multitasking between a few light apps is also feasible, and the company appears to have optimised programmes to load slightly faster in most cases. Furthermore, the phone’s refresh rate of 90Hz makes it as smooth as butter, with no micro lags. You can play less demanding games, such as Call of Duty Mobile, on Medium graphics with high frame rate settings, but it can also play heavier games, such as Asphalt 9: Legends, effortlessly. We also had no heating concerns even after extended game sessions. Samsung Galaxy A22 5G pros and cons Moving on to the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G has a triple rear camera arrangement with a 48-megapixel main sensor. A 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor are also included. An 8-megapixel camera lens is positioned inside a notch in the front for snapping selfies. Galaxy A22 5G camera In most situations, the Galaxy A22 5G camera offers sharp and detailed images. While the ultra-wide shots are not outstanding since they lack details and seem darker than the primary images. We also believed its portrait photos were better since they were more natural and had better backdrop separation. Galaxy A22 5G camera We did notice some problems with the selfie photographs, as they are not clear and seem mushy. Evening or low-light images aren’t particularly good, however, the phone’s night mode can help to improve them marginally. The 2MP macro camera, on the other hand, is something the company needs to work on in future models.
Galaxy A22 5G camera
Portrait
The cameras of the Galaxy A22 5G can record videos in up to 2K resolution, and the footage is noticeably more stable. Finally, the battery life on the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is exceptional. It has very long endurance. Under high usage, we typically obtained more than 8 hours of screen time, which includes roughly an hour of gaming, viewing videos, browsing the web, and using social media applications. That works out to around a day and a half of endurance.  Charging the device, on the other hand, takes a lengthy time. While we have grown accustomed to lightning-fast charging, the Galaxy A22 5G only supports up to 15W of power only. As a result, the charger takes one hour to charge the battery from zero to 50 percent and more than two hours to charge the massive 5,000mAh battery from zero to 100 percent.

Verdict

So that brings us to the end of our in-depth look at the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G (Rs 19,999). Do you want to buy the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G? It is a fantastic mid-range 5G ready phone in our opinion since it is beautifully optimised, can handle heavy gaming titles, and, most importantly, looks amazing. But if you are just looking for a cheaper 5G phone, there are some good ones in the market from the brand itself. Pros Looks premium Lightweight Decent cameras Good for gaming Cons Slow charging Same old design For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Spotify to add content advisory labels to podcasts on COVID-19

Following criticism from rock and folk stars for giving voice to misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines, Spotify CEO said that every podcast episode including debates over COVID-19 will include a content alert. The action comes on the heels of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell’s statement that they will withdraw their music from Spotify in protest of the popular streaming service facilitating the propagation of misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines. The popular music streaming service Spotify via its blog post revealed about adding a “content advisory” to any podcast episode that includes discussion about COVID-19. In the following days, this new initiative to battle disinformation will be sent out to nations throughout the world. The company further added that this is the first content alert issued by a major podcast platform. “We are working to add a content advisory to any podcast episode that includes a discussion about COVID-19. This advisory will direct listeners to our dedicated COVID-19 Hub, a resource that provides easy access to data-driven facts, up-to-date information as shared by scientists, physicians, academics and public health authorities around the world, as well as links to trusted sources. This new effort to combat misinformation will roll out to countries around the world in the coming days. To our knowledge, this content advisory is the first of its kind by a major podcast platform,” Spotify noted in its blog post. In addition to this Spotify will also begin testing methods to emphasise its Platform Rules in its creator and publisher tools in order to promote awareness about what is allowed and assist creators to understand their responsibilities for the material they upload on our platform. This is in addition to the agreements under which authors and publishers agree to utilise Spotify’s services. The renowned singer Neil Young sent an open letter accusing Spotify of promoting erroneous information regarding vaccines – perhaps causing death by distributing Rogan’s podcast, which has millions of listeners. Rogan has advocated for the use of the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin to treat the virus in youngsters outside of its approved use. “I realised I could not continue to support Spotify’s life-threatening misinformation to the music-loving public,” his published letter stated.  For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
