How to identify and avoid downloading fake Coronavirus Tracking app

The spread of Coronavirus in India as well as in other parts of the world is currently on the rise. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced that COVID-19 is a pandemic. In consideration of the ongoing global pandemic of coronavirus disease, Microsoft has launched a web portal for tracking COVID-19 infections worldwide. Whereas the other tech giant, Google is still working on a coronavirus screening and tracking website. While everyone is panicking as well as curious to know what’s going on in the world many malicious tracking apps have started rising up for Android as well as iOS devices. These fake apps attract users to provide information or maps which will show the confirmed cases of Coronavirus affected people in their neighbourhood. If you have downloaded this app to know about the sick people around you for your information there isn’t any app that is capable of tracking the affected people around you. We would recommend you to immediately uninstall the app from your phone and install an antivirus or antimalware app to clean your device properly. Instead, Microsoft’s web portal will definitely provide up-to-date infection statistics for each country. It contains data collected from sources such as the Organization (WHO), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Currently, it is showing 147 total confirmed cases in India out of which 14 have recovered and three fatal cases. It also suggests new videos related to the disease in the country. Over that, the internet is also flooded with information related to COVID-19 out of which there are videos that are misleading and spreading dangerous information to people across the globe. To this Google has taken a strong step by taking down thousands of such videos from its platform with the help of Artificial Intelligence-based technology. The company has also announced a temporary ban on all ads for medical masks and respirators. The company has collaborated with the US government and is developing a tracking web portal so that it can provide information, education and prevention as well as local resources.  The Google CEO, Sunder Pichai said in his blog post, “On YouTube, we’ve taken down thousands of videos related to dangerous or misleading coronavirus information, and we continue to remove videos that promote medically unproven methods to prevent coronavirus in place of seeking medical treatment. On Google Maps, our automated and manual review systems continue to take down false and harmful content such as fake reviews and misleading information about healthcare locations.” For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Apple iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max to get Time of Flight feature

A few months back Apple introduced its latest iPhone 11 series. Not much time has passed but rumours related to its upcoming iPhone 12 series have already started surfing on the internet. Some reports now suggest that Apple’s upcoming line up will include iPhone 12 pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. It is reportedly to feature Time of Flight (ToF) sensors. This feature has been spotted in the code of iOS 14 for enhanced depth sensing to improve the camera capabilities as well as AR. This time the company will be offering four cameras instead of a triple rear camera set up on the Apple iPhone 12 series.  According to a report by 9to5Mac Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro is going to include Time of Flight (ToF) sensors. The feature has been spotted inside the iOS 14 code. The publisher confirmed that inside the code the new iPhone models from its upcoming lineup were also spotted.  The new camera set on the iPhone 12 line up will include a time-of-flight 3D sensor along with a wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto lens which indicates that this time the devices will also come with a quad rear camera set up. The smartphone company is also working on a new augmented reality (AR) application for iOS 14 that let the user get more information about the world with the help of AR The ToF sensor is said to include an infrared projector that is alike the front-facing TrueDepth camera present in iPhone X as well as its latest models. This will allow the device to capture point clouds from the environment in order to produce 3D models. The ToF is actually related to the Measure app that turns your phone into a tape measure to calculate the measurement of an object from multiple angles. Previously Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also mentioned last year that in the coming year that is 2020 two of the Apple devices could feature time-of-flight sensors in the rear camera. The Apple iPhone 9 will carry similar design factors as of iPhone 6 which features a 4.7-inch LCD as well as a TouchID. Whereas iPhone 9 Plus is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch display. IQOO 3 5G review: Excellent for gamers

Vivo’s sub-brand IQOO recently launched its IQOO 3 5G smartphone in India at a starting price of Rs 36,999. The device comes with a number of high-end specifications like (the latest chipset) Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, up to 256GB of internal storage and four cameras including a 48MP primary lens. With these specifications, the smartphone seems to be great on paper. We spent a few days with it to see if it is as good as the company claims it to be and here’s our review of IQOO 3 5G:

IQOO 3 5G design and display

As always, let’s begin by talking about the design of the mobile. The smartphone has a very sturdy built and its look and feel is very pleasing. It has a premium design and comes across as way more expensive than what it actually is. The IQOO 3 5G smartphone is made up of glass and its back panel comes with a gradient design. The handset is available Tornado Black, Quantum Silver and Volcano Orange colour options and the one that we got for review was dressed in black. IQOO 3 5G 3 Since the smartphone is made up of glass, it catches fingerprints rather easily. So, we would suggest that you always keep a micro-fibre cloth with yourself to keep your handset clean. The back panel of the device also houses its camera module and has the IQOO branding. The edges of the IQOO 3 5G house the power and the volume rocker keys on the right side, while the Google Assistant key is placed on the left. The 3.5mm headphone jack and the secondary microphone are at the top, while the bottom edge has the SIM tray, speaker grille, the Type-C port and the microphone. Flip over and you’ll see the 6.44-inch Full HD+ E3 Super AMOLED display that has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and comes with 2.5D curved glass. The screen of the smartphone also has support for HDR10+ video playback and comes with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Bezels that outline the display of the device are thicker than the ones we have seen on other devices that we have reviewed recently. But then, there’s enough real estate and you can’t really term them as ‘thick’. The smartphone also has a punch-hole selfie camera on the top right of its display. A very key feature of the screen of the smartphone is that it has a touch response rate of 180Hz. We should mention that this is an added advantage for gamers as most phones have a touch response rate of 60Hz. IQOO 3 5G 4 The colours that are projected on the display of IQOO 3 5G are vibrant and accurate. The images are sharp and clear and watching videos, and playing games was a treat. In fact, we spent hours watching Netflix on this smartphone. The sunlight readability of the device was good too. In a nutshell, we would say that the design and the display of IQOO 3 5G can both be counted amongst its pros.

IQOO 3 5G performance and cameras

Before we begin talking about the performance of IQOO 3 5G, let’s shed some light on the specifications of the device. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 SoC clubbed with up to 12GB of RAM and has up to 256GB of onboard storage. We should point out that these storage configurations can be found in the 5G variant of the smartphone only. The device comes with Adreno 650 GPU and has UFS 3.1 storage memory. It runs on Android 10 and houses a 4,450mAh battery. The mobile device has a quad-camera setup on its back panel that has a 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP telephoto sensor, a 13MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP portrait camera. For selfies and video calls, there is a 16MP camera on the front panel of the device. Since the smartphone is aimed at gamers, it comes with Game Space that gives the user information like GPU clock speed and temperature of the device. It also has a dedicated Ultra Gaming Mode, and has Carbon Fiber VC Liquid Cooling to keep the temperature of the smartphone in check. And since we are talking about the software features of the smartphone, we should also mention its downside, which is bloatware. There are a number of apps pre-installed on the device including Amazon, Flipkart, Facebook, WPS Office, Daily Hunt and more. Luckily most can be uninstalled. The performance of IQOO 3 5G was simply superb. The smartphone was extremely fast in performing most tasks and our experience with it was extremely smooth.  We multi-tasked a lot on the device and did not experience lag even once. But then, with specifications like that of IQOO 3 5G,  lag was not even expected. Gaming on the handset was a great experience in itself. We played a number of games on the smartphone and they all ran extremely smoothly. Even the graphic hungry games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends ran very smoothly. As we mentioned earlier, IQOO 3 5G comes with a number of features that are dedicated for gaming. These obviously enhance the gaming experience on the smartphone. If we talk about Game Space, it gives users all the vital information that is required for gaming. Ultra Gaming Mode, on the other hand, has options like turning off notifications, and disabling automatic Wi-Fi connection. Using it will ensure uninterrupted gaming for users. Coming to the 4,450mAh battery of the device, it did a decent job during our time with the device. With moderate usage, it lasted us an entire day. If your usage is heavy, expect a few hours lesser than that. Another thing worth mentioning is that the smartphone takes around 45 minutes to charge completely, which we think is excellent. The fingerprint scanner as well as the face unlock feature of the smartphone did a good job at all times. There wasn’t a single time that we faced a problem in unlocking the device. Now, let’s talk about the cameras of IQOO 3 5G. If we look at the performance of the 48MP primary camera, it worked very well in areas that had ample light. IQOO 3 5G image sample The colours were accurate and the images were extremely clear and sharp. In dimly lit conditions the quality of the images fell down. Unless we had the flash on, the pictures taken didn’t turn out to be very good, even with the Night Mode on.
IQOO 3 5G image sample
Image taken with Night Mode on
The 13MP ultra-wide angle does include a lot more surface area and it managed to do a good job only in well-lit conditions. The zoomed in shots we took also at times lacked clarity. The portrait shots were mostly good. Coming to the 16MP selfie camera of the device, we are far more impressed with that. The selfies that we took using the device were always of good quality.

Verdict

There are a number of good things about the IQOO 3 5G that make it a worthy buy. It has a sturdy built and a beautiful design, comes with a vibrant display and its performance is extremely smooth. The gaming performance was simply excellent and the biometric locks were good too. However, the cameras of the smartphone could be more consistent and the battery life could be better, as we have seen in most phone from Vivo in the past. But then, we won’t count the battery as a downside as the device can charge from 0 to 100% in 45 minutes. So, most aspects of IQOO 3 5G smartphone are good and hence, we consider it to be a good buy. Pros
  • Beautiful design
  • Vibrant display
  • Excellent gaming
Cons
  • Cameras could be better
  • Battery could last longer

YouTube is relying more on Machine Learning and less on humans amid Coronavirus outbreak

2
As the world is grappling with the Coronavirus pandemic, businesses across the globe are doing its best to protect their workforce. Following the trend, YouTube will temporarily start relying more on machine learning to help with some of the work normally done by reviewers. This means that YouTube will be seeking help of automated systems in removing content that violates its norms without human review so that it has workplace protections in place. “We have teams at YouTube, as well as partner companies, that help us support and protect the YouTube community—from people who respond to user and creator questions, to reviewers who evaluate videos for possible policy violations. These teams and companies are staffed by thousands of people dedicated to helping users and creators. As the coronavirus response evolves, we are taking the steps needed to prioritize the well-being of our employees, our extended workforce, and the communities where they live, including reducing in-office staffing in certain sites,” as revealed by a YouTube blog post. This initiative my YouTube might result in increasing video removals, which may consist of some videos that may not violate policies. However YouTube clarified, “We won’t issue strikes on this content except in cases where we have high confidence that it’s violative. Amazon Echo Auto Review: Making your car a bit smarter

Amazon’s Echo products are by far one of the most advanced when it comes to AI integration, AKA Alexa. We have seen a flurry of products under the brand and one more that has come from them is for your car. This one is called Amazon Echo Auto and we have been playing with it since some time now and it does do a good job. How well, read the rest of the review of Amazon Echo Auto.

Amazon Echo Auto Design

Amazon Echo Auto is split into two parts, the card-type main head, which gets attached to the car holder that in turn attaches to the car AC vent. The main head of the Amazon Echo Auto is where all the action happens. This is a credit card-sized device which has two buttons, one to mute, an array of 8 microphones, a micro-USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack. An LED strip runs at the bottom that has the same Alexa colours to display, when at work. A 3.5mm audio wire, USB cable and a twin USB port driven car charger also comes in the box. This is good as one can connect Amazon Echo Auto as well as one more device at the same time.amazon-alexa-auto-charging-dock

Performance

Setting up Amazon Echo Auto is not hard at all if you already are a previous user of any of the Echo devices. It syncs up quickly and to use it, one does not require Wi-Fi, it uses the 3G/4G network of your smartphone. One prerequisite is that you need a 3.5mm audio port in your car audio system. As it will connect to that with the aux cable. Once setup you can do many things with including music playback, ask for directions, get questions answered et al. We tried it for a quite while on the busiest roads of Delhi. And 8 out of 10 times it works just fine. The 8 microphones on the Amazon Echo Auto do manage to capture your voice and commands, even when the A/c blower is running at full. Pull down your windows and ambient noise does hinder performance a bit. So, those 2 times it did not recognise us calling Alexa out is when we had a lot of road noise around us and blower was running at full. Other than that, all the skills of Alexa are available here too and one can listen to music seamlessly. Yes, your mobile data does get consumed for this, so make sure you are on a good mobile plan.

Verdict

At Rs 4,999 Amazon Echo Auto is a great addition to the car. It makes your car smarter and we have not seen anything like this coming from any of its competition. Also, as we said, Alexa is one of the best AI companions in the market and to have her in your car just makes your journey more comfortable. Pros: Alexa 8 mics Cons: No speaker within Some might feel it to be a bit costly For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
