Samsung’s Q2 2019 earnings likely dipped by 56% compared to last year

Samsung Electronics has launched a number of impressive smartphones this year. The company’s current flagship devices – Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e – have been appreciated by critics and fans alike for the kind of capabilities they offer. In addition to this, the company has also revamped its budget and mid-range line-up in India with its Galaxy M and Galaxy A series. Ideally, the South Korean technology giant should be having a great year in terms of earnings too. But then, Samsung’s Q2 2019 earnings forecast doesn’t really show this. The company has said that its Q2 2019 profit is likely to be halved as compared to last year. According to the earnings guidance that has been released by Samsung, it is expected to fall by around 56% to 6.5 trillion won ($5.56 billion). The revenue of the company is also expected to slide by 4% to 56 trillion won ($47.89 billion). We should mention that this would be Samsung’s lowest profit since Q3 2016. But then, back then the South Korean technology giant was facing the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. While Samsung has not given any explanations in its earnings guidelines, analysts have suggested that Huawei facing some very major problems with the US right now could have impacted the company’s chip business. But then, it may also have helped Samsung’s smartphone sales in some markets. But then, things are not as bad for Samsung as they could have been. The company has gained from its display division and that definitely would have given a boost to its profit. According to a report in Reuters that quotes analysts, Samsung has been reimbursed with 800 billion won ($684 million) by Cupertino-based technology giant Apple. The company uses Samsung’s OLED displays in its iPhones and had to reimburse the South Korean company because it missed the sales target that had been agreed upon prior to the deal.
A recent report has also suggested that more devices by Apple will now come with OLED displays because the company is planning to take this step in order to satisfy a penalty that it owes to Samsung Display. So very soon, Samsung’s OLED displays may make their way to Apple’s tablets and laptops. Apple had used Samsung’s OLED displays in iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. However, the sales of both these smartphones did not really do wonders this year. So using OLED screens in other devices would make perfect sense for Apple in order to fulfil the contract.

Over 10 million users have downloaded this fake ‘Samsung’ app: Report

Over 10 million people have been deceived by a fake app called ‘Updates for Samsung’. In the latest reveal, CSIS Security Group’s report has suggested that this app has been spotted on Google Play and redirects the users to an ad-filled website that charges them for downloading software updates. This fake app takes advantage of people who are facing difficulties in downloading software updates for their Samsung handset. It is worth mentioning that more than 10 million people have already installed this app. The app also assures its users to make it easy for them to download software updates. This app claims to offer a centralized location where the owners of Samsung devices can get their software and OS updates. But then, the app is not affiliated with Samsung and is a scam that loads the update[.]com domain in a WebView (Android browser) component. By going through the app’s information on Google Play Store, one can see that many users have reported that it only redirects to a website that is full of advertisements. This bogus site suggests both free and paid Samsung software updates to the people. Usually, the site slows the speed of free downloads by limiting to 56 KBps and then, they ultimately stop. So, if you try installing any free software, the download will never finish even with a reliable network. The website then crashes all the free downloads and the Updates for Samsung app forces the users to pay for $34.99 premium package if the user wants to download any files. Despite making payments, the users were not able to download software packages. The app does not follow the Play Store rules and uses a third party payment system rather than using a method provided by Google for safe and protected payment channel.
We should also mention that the app also provides the users with a $19.99 SIM card unlocking service. There is a possibility that this is just another way to fool people and making money. The app does not install any malware in the user’s device. But then, it is a very suspicious app developed to dupe people all over the world. Many people have been fooled by this app thinking that it will make it easier for them to update their Samsung devices. These types of fake Android apps not only deceive people for money, but they can also risk their privacy by collecting data from the user’s device.

Google Pixel 4 may come with a telephoto lens, hints the company’s camera app

Google got everybody talking when it shared the design of its upcoming Pixel 4 flagship smartphone months ahead of its launch. The image shared by Google led to a lot of speculations and fans tried to predict as much as possible about the features of the device with it. In the image, it could be seen that Pixel 4 will come with a square camera module that will come with two sensors. However, there is no clarity on whether that will be a telephoto lens or a sensor meant for super-wide-angle shots. But then, we may have got the answer to this question as a new version of the Google Camera app may have given away which sensor it is. According to XDA Developers, the build of the app in its leaked version of Android Q had references that mention ‘telephoto’. So, it is very likely that the Pixel 4 smartphone will come with a telephoto lens. We should mention that Pixel smartphones can take some excellent portrait shots. Some even say that the handset’s edge detection is better than iPhone’s or other Android devices. But then, it is worth pointing out that since iPhones use depth data that has been obtained from two camera sensors, they can produce very realistic images that show the transition between the subject and their blurry background. The same cannot be said about Pixel devices that tend to show a stark contrast between the foreground and the background. Google will be able to work on this and make it better with a telephoto lens. To recall, a few weeks back, Google had taken to its Twitter account and shared the image of its upcoming Pixel 4 smartphone. The tweet that accompanied the image read, “Well, since there seems to be some interest, here you go! Wait ’til you see what it can do. #Pixel4” As we mentioned earlier, the tweet was followed by a number of speculations. For starters, it can be seen in the image that there is no fingerprint scanner, which means that the device is likely to sport one on its display. The most prominent change is, of course, the cameras of the device. Firstly, the handset will come with more than one camera sensor, and secondly, they will be placed in a square module on its back panel. google-pixel-3a-xl- 3 Another thing about the design of the Google Pixel 4 smartphone is that it’s back panel does not have the regular look that all other devices from the company’s flagship range do. Pixel smartphones have always had a glossy glass portion on the top of their rear panel and a larger matte portion that on the rest of its back panel. Pixel 4, on the other hand, can be seen to have only one. But then, we can’t really say which one it is. Asus ROG Phone 2 launch scheduled for July 23, company confirms

Taiwanese technology brand Asus has started sending out media invites for the launch if its next gaming smartphone – ROG Phone 2. The Asus ROG Phone 2 is the successor of the ROG Phone that was launched last year. The upcoming gaming handset by the company is set to launch on July 23. Recently, the company had also confirmed that its Asus ROG Phone 2 will sport a 120Hz display and had said that the device will go official later this month. Asus has also partnered with Tencent for its upcoming gaming handset. Asus ROG Phone 2 will directly compete with the likes of Nubia Red Magic 3 and Black Shark 2. A number of Chinese bloggers have posted the image of the launch invite on Weibo that says that ROG Phone 2 will sport a 120Hz display and will be launched on July 23. We should also mention that the company’s ROG gaming division has also confirmed that the handset will be launching in July. But then, we should mention that as of now, the company continues to be tight-lipped about the launch of Asus ROG Phone 2 outside of China. It is also worth pointing out that Asus ROG Phone 2 recently received three different certifications from US FCC, Wi-Fi Alliance, and China’s 3C, which pointed towards its imminent launch. A report that came out a few weeks back also accurately predicted that the handset will be launched on July 23. As we mentioned earlier, the company has also partnered Tencent to get some custom gaming experiences to the device. A few optimized games will also be added to the handset so that users can make the most of its 120Hz display. The ROG Phone 2 is said to arrive in two variants in the country and will hold a starting price of CNY 4,399 (approximately Rs 44,400). However, as of now, not much is known about the specifications of the handset. Asus has confirmed that the ROG Phone 2 will come with a 120Hz display. The only other smartphone to have a display like this is Razer Phone 2, which is known for its gaming capabilities. ASUS ROG Phone To recall, Asus ROG Phone was launched in June 2018 globally but it made its way to India in November 2018. The smartphone some powerful gaming-centric specifications and was powered by an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 845 SoC. So, the possibility of Asus ROG Phone 2 being powered by an over-clocked version of the Snapdragon 855 SoC cannot be ruled out either. But then, we will have to wait till we find out more.

PlayStation 5 specifications and other details come to light with latest leaks

0
It seems like the marketing strategies of major technology companies are changing. Google is not the only one that officially gave away real information (or image to be more precise) of its upcoming flagship smartphone Pixel 4 before launch. In April this year, Sony also spilled some beans about its PlayStation 5 gaming console, even though it is more than a year from being unveiled. The company had revealed some PlayStation 5 specifications like the gaming console will be powered by a 7nm AMD Ryzen 3000 processor clubbed with 7nm Radeon Navi GPU. The company also announced that an ultra-fast SSD will be used in the console for game storage. Now, some fresh leaks have surfaced online that claim to have some very specific information about the hardware that will be used in the PlayStation 5. We would recommend you take this information with a grain of salt, but then, it may also be valid. The report has claimed that gaming console will come with an 8-core/16-thread Ryzen 3000 processor that will be clocked at 3.2GHz. In addition to this, the Radeon Navi-based GPU will reportedly have a total of 72 Compute Units, 64 shaders per CU and a clock speed of 1.55GHz. The device is said to come with 16GB or 24GB of GDDR6 memory. It has also been mentioned that PlayStation 5 will be able to deliver around 14.2 TFLOPS compute performance from the above-mentioned GPU. Coming to the SSD, it is being speculated that the systems will come with 2TB of storage. Sony has also stated that till now, we haven’t seen any consumer-level SSDs that offer the kind of performance in PlayStation 5, so there can be a possibility that the gaming console could come with a PCI 4.0 interface. Playstation 8   We should add that the first PCI 4.0 SSDs were announced right after the initial specifications of the PlayStation 5 came to light. The new SSDs are said to offer a substantial upgrade in terms of performance over its predecessor. Sony has also said that the console will support 120Hz of output at 4K for games and will also have support for 8K. But then, as of now, it is speculated that the 8K will only be used for videos and not for gaming. Budget 2019: Government allocates Rs 10,000 crore for electric vehicles scheme, announces tax rebates for buyers

India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today presented the Budget 2019 for the first time in her term. In her first Budget speech, she has said that the government will be encouraging the faster adoption of electric vehicles. To do this, the government of India has approved Rs 10,000 crore for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME II) on April 1, 2019. She also added that the main purpose of the FAME II scheme is to make the right kind of charging infrastructure available and provide incentives for an easy and affordable mode of transport for the common man. She also announced “We are launching interoperable transport card to be used for transport,” The transport card will be used for universal travel that can be used on various transportation modes, roads, railways, etc. In addition to this, the minister also announced that anyone who buys an electric vehicle will be offered an exemption of income tax worth Rs 1.5 lakh by the National Democratic Alliance government. The government will also be focussing on local manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries. She also added that the government has reduced the customs duty on import of certain parts of electric vehicles to promote them in the country. Sitharaman also said that the income tax exemption will account for saving Rs 2.5 lakh for customers during the entire period of purchase. electric vehicle Speaking further on it, she said, “We want a lot to develop India as a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles and want to encourage the purchase of these vehicles. The government will provide income tax exemption of ₹1.5 lakh to the owners of electric vehicles. Customs duty is also being exempted for certain components of electric vehicles.” We should mention that recently, Niti Aayog had moved a note to the Finance Ministry to remove all the fossil fuel based vehicles by 2030. However, most automakers are opposing this as such a big shift in such a short span of time can prove to be disruptive for them. As of now, the auto companies do not have the capacity to take up big enough investments required for such a shift. Yesterday, while presenting the Economic Survey, Nirmala Sitharaman said that electric vehicles represent the next generation in sustainable mobility and the country must pay emphasis on them so that it can take the needed appropriate measures to lower the total lifetime ownership costs so that it can attract consumers. “While various incentives have been provided by the government and new policies are being implemented, it is important that these policies not only focus on reducing the upfront costs of owning an EV but also reduce the overall lifetime costs of ownership,” said the survey. Apple iPhone sale falls in 2019, data indicates it is too costly for the Indian market

iPhones have always been considered to be expensive and premium. In the last few years, some reports said that they probably got too expensive for the Indian market. Now, there is data to support this statement. A report has surfaced online that claims that the shipments of Apple iPhone were down by 42% in Q1 2019 as compared to the first quarter of 2018. In April, the sales improved a bit because of discounts that were offered by the company, they reportedly dropped again in May. The report, which first surfaced on The Economics Times and quoted analysts at research firm Counterpoint, said that iPhone shipments in India dipped to 2,20,000 units in the January-March quarter. Analysts Also said that for the complete year, they are estimating shipments to rear 1.5 million to 1.6 million, but then, that would be a “10-17% drop from 2018,” and a 53% drop as compared to 2017. While the sales of the iPhone began to rise after the price cuts and discounts offered by the smartphone company, the OnePlus 7 Pro and Samsung S10e started to give the devices a serious competition after their launch. This led to a fall in sales again. The report has also said that Apple will begin manufacturing high-end iPhones like iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR in India soon. This will help the company avoid import duty and hence, the prices of the handsets will be reduced, and that would have a direct impact on the sales. It is worth mentioning that Apple already manufactures smartphones like the iPhone 7 in India. Currently, the problem that is leading to a fall in prices of iPhones in India is reported to be the high pricing of the devices. We should mention that iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR were launched at a starting price of Rs 99,900, Rs 109,900 and Rs 76,900 respectively. Earlier this year, Apple announced various discounts and offers on the iPhone XR. However, even after that, the cost of the smartphone was almost Rs 60,000 and hence, a lot of people could still not consider to buy it. It is worth pointing out that these iPhones are expensive everywhere across the globe, their cost in India is unusually high because of the import tariffs that are being levied on products that are not manufactured locally. As we mentioned earlier, the launches of OnePlus 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10e did not help Apple much either as the competition only became stiffer. Both the devices come with premium specifications and are priced under Rs 50,000, so naturally, they had an edge over Apple. Apple is set to launch it’s iPhone 11 in September this year. We would have to wait to see if that helps the company bounce back in the Indian market or whether it really is left with no other option apart from expanding its manufacturing in India. JBL LIVE 400BT headphones review: Light weight and soundtastic

When we got the JBL LIVE 400BT on-ear wireless headphones, at first glance these headphones looked simple and sleek. We noticed that the company has labeled the left and right insides of the earpiece, so users would know which side to put on which ear. The JBL LIVE 400BT on-ear headphones look pretty decent with mesh design and it appears cool, young and stylish. So, like always we took the new gadget that has come to us for a review out for a spin. This is our review of the JBL LIVE 400BT headphones.

Design

Before we talk more about the design let us tell you about what you get inside the box of the JBL LIVE 400BT on-ear headphones. These come with a micro USB charging cable and a 3.5 mm auxiliary cable that is 4 ft (1.3 meters) in length. A mic and a remote come fitted with the Auxiliary cable. So, if the headphones run out of battery they can be wired into your smartphone for uninterrupted playback. Apart from that, you can also find an instruction manual inside the box. That is helpful when you first try to connect the headphones with your device, the instructions are pretty simple to follow. JBL LIVE 400BT headphones review Comfort is the most important thing after sound quality whenever we buy headphones. The padding on the JBL LIVE 400BT is decent. So before even listening to music, we tried to assess the comfort. Before putting on the headphones we were worried about if they might not fit our head, but the headphones fitted pretty well because of the padding and the expandable headband (which by-the-way has metal extenders). The on-ear headphones covered our entire ears but if you have a larger head your ears might peep out of the ear cups. But, JBL is marketing it at over the ears headphones, not on-ear, so this could be the case with some. The padding is soft but after 30 minutes of continuous use, they become a little tight.  Soft PU leather material has been used to make the ear cushions. This does not make the ears feel sweaty and does not fall off while working out or jogging. JBL LIVE 400BT headphones The left ear cup sports a Micro USB charging port for charging the earphones. It takes around two hours to get the headphones fully charged. Once juiced up the headphones can deliver up to 24 hours of playing time. On the right ear muffs, it sports a power switch that can be turned on by sliding it. The Blue flashing light indicates that the power is on. The left earcups also consist of a volume control button and a multi-function button to play/pause the music.

Performance

The headphones can be easily connected to your smartphone using Bluetooth. Over that, two devices can be connected simultaneously. The headphones can be paired with your Android device and a tablet or laptop at the same time with Bluetooth connectivity. Once paired the headphones do not require permission to connect again. It connects automatically every time it is turned on. To test the connectivity, we placed our smartphone in one room and then went to my balcony (about 30 feet away) to water the plants and we still had connectivity in the balcony. Amazingly, when we kept the headphones on the desk while working, we were able to still listen to the music that was playing. The audio drivers are very loud. To test the sound quality, it is very important for us to listen to music that we are familiar with. Please Don’t laugh, so we tested the on-ear headphones sound quality by playing one of our favourite track by Charlie Puth “We don’t talk anymore”. It was easier for us to quickly pick out places where it sounds different, better or not so bright. However, the sound is quite good overall. JBL LIVE 400BT headphones The headphones come with Ambient awareness feature that allows you to listen to your favourite tracks while you hear ambient sounds too. This feature helps you hear the sound of traffic or horns while you are crossing or walking on the road or traveling in a metro or a bus by lowering the volume of headphones. The feature can be easily switched on or off by clicking a dedicated button on the right earmuff. As mentioned earlier the JBL headphones are equipped with passive noise cancellation feature that cancels most of the unnecessary sounds in the surroundings. The JBL400BT headphones come with another feature of Google assistant and Alexa connectivity. Pressing the right ear muff activates the Google voice Assistant or Alexa. This can be also done by just saying Ok Google.

At this price point, it is hard to get so many features, which the JBL LIVE 400BT headphones promises. Chinese technology company Oppo has started teasing its new, upcoming smartphone on Amazon India. The company is all set to launch its Oppo K3 handset in India, that is the successor to its previously launched K1 smartphone. Oppo has set up a dedicated ‘Notify Me’ teaser page on Amazon India, and it is being speculated that it is meant for Oppo K3. But then, we should mention that the page does not have the name of any handset on it. According to a report in MSP, the company is getting the Oppo K3 to India, that will come with a few additional features and upgrades from its predecessor K1. It is worth pointing out that Oppo launched its K3 smartphone in its home country two months back, so it is very likely that the company is planning to get the device to India too. While the former is priced at RMB 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,000), the latter costs RMB 1,899 (roughly Rs 19,000). Ola gets a green light to launch taxi business in London

Ola Cabs is India’s answer to taxi-hailing service Uber and it has grown phenomenally since it was launched in 2010. In 2018, the company started expanding overseas when it took its operations to Australia and New Zealand. Now, the company has received the approval from London’s transport regulator to begin private hire vehicles in the United Kingdom’s capital. Ola UK Private Limited now has a carriage license from TFL for a year to operate that permits it to operate ‘PHV vehicles’ across London. With this, the drivers would have to apply for a licence and list their vehicle as privately registered for hire, the company has specified in a statement that it issued to the press. We should mention that Ola has taken this move just days after Morgan Stanley analyst says that the company will become a threat to Uber in the United Kingdom. A big reason behind the prediction was the fact that Ola has raised more capital as compared to other app-based cab-hailing companies. We should mention that according to Morgan Stanley, Ola Cabs has a total funding of $3.8 billion, and this makes it far ahead of others. To give you a better idea of the competitors, Bolt has just re-entered the market in the UK recently, has till now raised a funding of $190 million to $280 million. Prior to Ola’s entry in the UK, analysts had said, “We believe Ola is arguably a greater threat if media reports of Ola’s entry into London at the end of the year prove accurate.” Ola Cabs’ investors include the likes of SoftBank, Sequoia Capital, Accel, Kia Motors and Hyundai. In addition to this, the company is also trying to get more investors onboard to give Uber a good fight, especially in India where the market is extremely competitive. Ola An Ola spokesperson, in a statement to the press, said that the company is “looking forward to building world-class mobility offerings for London, by collaborating with drivers, riders, the government, and local authorities. London is one of the world’s most iconic cities and hosts a progressive mobility environment. We couldn’t be more excited to bring Ola to London in the time ahead.” Currently, Ola’s operations are active in 150 countries in India. Since last year, the company has been expanding its operations to other countries too, and it has reached Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom so far. The company serves more than 150 million users and has reported to have a billion rides annually. OnePlus smartphone catches fire even though it was switched off and not charging: Report

Chinese technology company OnePlus usually gets applauded for offering smartphones with premium specification at an affordable price. However, this time, the company has created headlines for the wrong reasons. A report has surfaced online that says that a user’s OnePlus One smartphone caught fire randomly in the middle of the night. But then, the user was able to douse the fire so the situation was under control before the handset exploded. According to an email the user sent to the company, his device was switched off when the incident occurred and it was not even put on charging. This makes it even more strange as most other smartphones that have been reported to catch fire usually did so while they were being charged. The report has pointed out that the incident took place on July 3 at around 3:15 AM. The user has also said that the room in which the smartphone caught fire had an air conditioner which had been set to 19 degrees. The user claims that he was woken up in the middle of the night when he smelt something burning and then saw that his room was filled with fumes. He then doused the fire using water. According to the user, the mobile phone was placed just a few feet away from him, so the situation would have been much more dangerous had he not woken up on time. While the smartphone is five years old, such an incident should not happen because it can put someone’s life in danger, the user said. He reached out to OnePlus and Amazon India and told them about the matter. The incident only came to light after India Today anchor Chaiti Narula took to Twitter to speak about it. She even posted images of the damaged smartphone.
OnePlus’ team responded to her tweet and said that their Critical Escalations Team is looking into the matter. They added that the team is in touch with the user and is working to solve the issue. We should point out that it is not at all common for OnePlus smartphones to explode. This may be one among the first few incidents when such a thing has happened. But then, it is scary to think that a smartphone can explode even when it is not charging and is switched off. The reason can also be that the device is very old, but even then, it can prove to be extremely dangerous. Uber Pro program comes to India: Here are the rewards it offers

America-based technology company Uber can be given the credit for changing the way we hail a cab. While earlier we had to call and book taxis in advance, now, they are just a few smartphone taps away no matter where we are or what time of the day it is. The service has not only helped customers but cab drivers too. While earlier it was very difficult for them to find jobs, now it is not. Last year, the company had launched its Uber Pro service in the United States that was aimed at benefitting drivers. Now, Uber Pro is being launched in India and Mexico too, with unique program elements to cater to both countries. The company has announced on its blog that with Uber Pro, drivers in India who are associated with the company will get “access to free medical consultations, micro-credit loans, discounts for education and coaching modules that can be passed along to their children, as well as helpful rewards like faster airport pickups.” Uber also added that it has partnered with a number of companies to provide “additional savings on car maintenance costs and discounts on life insurance” to the drivers. The company has said that Uber Pro was first launched to give the rewards to drivers that they wanted, so the offerings were decided on the basis of their feedback. Even in India, Uber has adopted the same model and will be delivering what drivers told the company that they wanted. Uber Pro Coming to Mexico, Uber Pro will be reaching several cities over there. The company has said that eligible drivers will be able to “access higher education through our partnership with UTEL, which is partnering with Uber to offer discounted, flexible study programs.” Uber has also said that it has partnered with companies to provide the “first free driver debit card available in Latin America.” With this, the everyday spending of the drivers will be rewarded with cash back and no annual fee will be charged, the company claims. In addition to this, eligible drivers in Mexico will be able to get “instant access to earnings through Instant Pay, which they can use to cash out up to five times per day–free of cost.” Besides this, they will also get access to Quest promotions, faster airport pickups, 24/7 phone support, visibility into trip duration among other rewards. Uber has said that with its Uber Pro program, it aims to help its drivers get a step closer to their long-term ambitions. Google is replacing Panorama with Night Sight as a main camera mode on Pixel smartphones

0
Technology giant Google seems to be adopting a more intelligent way of placing the various camera modes that are present on the app. The company seems to have realised that people don’t use the panorama mode as much as they use other modes to capture the best possible image. As a result of this, Google will reportedly place its Night Sight feature to its main list of camera modes. With this, Panorama mode will go further away. But then, it makes perfect sense as the Night Sight feature is way more useful than the Panorama mode. According to 9to5Google, in the latest Android Q beta build the feature can already be seen. It can be seen that Night Sight has taken the place of Panorama as the mode on the extreme left. If this remains unchanged, here’s a list of modes that you will be able to swipe between besides the main viewfinder:
  • Night Sight
  • Portrait
  • Camera
  • Video
Besides this, there is an option of More that has modes like Panorama, Photo Sphere, Photo Booth, Slow Motion, Time Lapse and Playground. While the change is a small one, it does make all the sense in the world considering Google has been advertising the Night Sight mode and even compared it to the iPhone XS. We should mention that Apple’s offering comes without a dedicated low-light mode. Pixel 3, and in turn Night Sight feature, has been surpassed in terms of performance by Huawei P30 Pro. However, Night Sight still continues to be a highlighted feature of Pixel devices. On the other hand, the Panorama mode on Google is not exactly a standout feature and is a lot like the one on other smartphones. But then, we should mention that in the same updated camera app, the ability to adjust the white balance has been removed. The temperature icon that let users adjust the white balance cannot be found on the app anymore, so it is safe to assume that Google has quietly removed the feature. A lot of people may not even notice the change, but then, those who click pictures using the Pixel professionally will be disappointed with it. Google Pixel 3a review It is worth noticing that Google has also added the Night Sight feature to its Pixel 3a smartphone, that is the affordable version of its flagship Pixel 3. You can read our review of the Pixel 3a here to know how the camera performed.

Apple will be changing the design of its MacBook keyboard

0
Cupertino-based technology giant Apple will reportedly ditch the controversial butterfly keyboard that it has been using in its MacBooks since 2015. Another report also claims that the company will be switching to a new scissor-switch design instead that will make use of glass fiber in order to reinforce the keys. While the first development has been shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the information about the scissor-switch keyboard design first surfaced on 9to5Mac. Kuo’s report also said that the laptop that will be the first to get the new keyboard will be a new MacBook Air model that will be launched this year. The MacBook Pro that will be launched in 2020 will also sport the same keyboard design. Kuo said, “We predict that the butterfly keyboard may finally disappear in the long term.” Apple has been tweaking the design of its butterfly keyboard with every MacBook in order to overcome some problem that customers commonly complain about. These include keys act in a strange manner and the keyboard not functioning properly or even stopping to work completely. Apple has apologised about the issues customers have faced because of its keyboard earlier this year. The Cupertino based technology giant said that a small number of users had experienced some troubles with its keyboard. In the past, it has also launched a repair program for the earlier versions of the device. Macbook keyboard Kuo has given a number of different reasons why Apple is changing its keyboard design. The most prominent one among them is that the upcoming keyboard will be more durable because it will come with glass fiber replacement. According to a MacRumors report that quotes him, the new keyboard “could improve the typing experience by offering longer key travel.” However, he has also added that the butterfly switch design is expensive for the company to manufacture and that the new scissor switch design will be more affordable. But then, one can’t expect it to be as affordable as the keyboard of an average laptop. We should also point out that while the current design has some disadvantages, it is extremely thin. This can prove to be very important for those who value space when they buy a laptop that is as premium and modern as the MacBook. According to Kuo, the new design of the keyboard will make it slightly thicker, however, he also added that “most users can’t tell the difference.” The report has also added that the keyboard would not ship with the 16-inch MacBook Pro that is supposed to launch this year. It would also not be present on the rumoured 13-inch MacBook Pro model.
