In the midst of all the new smartphone launches, Xiaomi has kick-started its Mi Super Sale in India. The sale is currently live on Mi.com and will go on till Friday, May 31. During the Mi Super Sale, most of the popular smartphones from Redmi are getting discounts and offers. Some of the smartphones which are getting a discount are Redmi 6A, Redmi Y2 and Redmi 6 Pro. In addition to this, Amazon India has brought a similar sale on its own platform named the Mi Days sale. Qualcomm and Lenovo join hands to bring ‘Project Limitless’ laptop with 5G connectivity
Computex 2019 saw the launches of some of the most advanced, powerful and newest CPUs, and computer components at Taipei, Taiwan. The latest among these launches come from Qualcomm and Lenovo. The two companies have come together to launch the first 5G-enabled always-connected laptop powered by the Snapdragon 8cx 5G Compute Platform. American chipmaker Qualcomm and electronic maker Lenovo have collaborated on this project where they demonstrated the uses of the always-connected computers on the 5G networks. The name of this new laptop/ project is ‘Project Limitless’ and it is a prototype device which is currently not ready to be launched as a commercial device.
The newly unveiled Project Limitless laptop is powered by the Snapdragon 8cx platform which was launched back in 2018. The Snapdragon 8cx is the world’s first 7nm platform built for PCs and laptops with 5G connectivity capability. Earlier, we saw that Qualcomm quoting that its goal for the laptops powered by the Snapdragon CPUs is a good battery life of more than a day, always-on internet connection and light in weight. According to Qualcomm, the speed of 5G connectivity is very high, according to the company, 5G connectivity is able to give a very high speed and with low latency. It says that, with 5G connectivity, using a remote storage will feel like using the local storage on the laptop/PC. Even large files can be sent and received faster with this new connectivity than what we are used to and what we use today.
There are various other ways the 5G connectivity can be useful and will be better than what we are used to right now. It can give 4K and 8K video streaming, AR and VR applications can be run smoothly, mobile gaming will be more responsive and will allow high quality video calling. Other than all these features, the new Project Limitless has promised that it will offer an enterprise-grade security to the user. As mentioned above, the new Project Limitless brought out by the coalition of the two companies won’t be commercially launched yet, but the companies have said that more details of the laptop will be announced next year in 2020.
The Project Limitless is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx CPU which has 8 Kryo 495 CPU cores paired with Adreno 680 GPU. For 5G connectivity, the company has put its second generation X55 5G modem for 5G connectivity and Cat 22 LTE where 5G connectivity isn’t available. The Snapdragon 8xc SoC supports Quick Charge 4+ and is able to drive two 4K HDR displays.
Moreover, Lenovo was one of the first electronics companies to work with Qualcomm to bring out the Windows 10 based laptops powered by the Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC platform. One of such laptops was the Lenovo Yoga C630 WOS which was powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 850 CPU. HyperX launches the first gaming keyboard which has its own switch design
Kingston Technology’s HyperX has been making gaming keyboards for a few years and much like other manufacturers, it uses Cherry MX or Kailh key switches, depending upon the price of its products. Now, at Computex 2019, the company has announced HyperX Alloy Origins the first keyboard that comes with a new key switch design by HyperX itself.
The newly launched keyboard is called HyperX Alloy Origins and it comes with switches that are based on typical reds. We should mention that this is a popular choice in gaming keyboards because the most competitive gamers have a preference for it because they are highly responsive. It is also worth pointing out that HyperX has tweaked the red design by shaving the travel distance to 3.8mm and actuation point to 1.8mm. For those unaware, this is 0.2mm less than a standard Cherry MX red switch.
Basically, if you are one among the gamers who really liked the red switches and wanted them to be even more Red, you would definitely like Alloy Origins’ design. However, if you use your keyboard for typing more than for gaming, it may not be the choice for you.
HyperX Alloys Origin is a full-sized keyboard that has a trim aluminium frame and it comes with the company’s ‘Black Pudding’ translucent keycaps, which is not something that everyone likes in their gaming keyboard.
The company has said that HyperX Alloys Origin is available in the third quarter of 2019, starting at $109.99. This is the same price at the company’s Alloy FPS RGB, which comes with Kailh switches.
Recently, the company also launched its Xbox licensed gaming headsets in India named – HyperX CloudX. The new CloudX comes with a 53mm Dynamic driver with neodymium magnets and its sound frequency range is 15Hz to 25KHz (25,000Hz). The sound pressure level in gaming headset is 95dBSPL/mW at 1kHz.
Kingston has said that it has taken into consideration the fact the users wear gaming headsets for a longer duration of time, and that’s why it has ensured that it is light and comfortable. It weighs 325gms without the microphone and with the microphone attached it weighs 337gms, which is light considering it has an aluminium frame. Its cable has a length of 1.3m and its microphone is an electret condenser noise cancelling microphone with 50Hz to 18KHz frequency (18,000Hz).

Oppo Reno and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition to launch in India today: How to watch the live stream
Oppo is finally bringing its Oppo Reno series of smartphones in India and they will be launched at an event in New Delhi today. The company will be launching two smartphones – the Oppo Reno vanilla version and the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition. Taiwanese technology company Asus has expanded its Zenbook laptop lineup with three new devices – ZenBook 13 (UX334), ZenBook 14 (UX434), and ZenBook 15 (UX534). All the three new offerings come with a slim design, a metallic body and ScreenPad 2.0, which is an upgraded version of the company’s touchscreen embedded touchpad. Asus has also taken wraps off its ZenBook Edition 30 (UX334FL) laptop that has a leather design and has been made to commemorate the company’s 30th anniversary.
Asus ZenBook 13 (UX334), ZenBook 14 (UX434), and ZenBook 15 (UX534) come with some design elements from their predecessors that were launched in August 2018. However, the key change in the design of the new laptops is the addition of ScreenPad 2.0. Another upgrade in the ZenBook laptops is that they come with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 16xx series or an Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics cards. As of now, there is no word on the price details and availability of the devices.

Taiwanese technology company Asus has today launched two new laptops that are targeted at PC users – VivoBook S14 and VivoBook S15. The VivoBook S14 and VivoBook S15 are available in two variants and are powered by the 8th generation Intel processors. Asus VivoBook S14 and VivoBook S15 have the ScreenPad 2.0 and are powered by Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU. The new laptops in the VivoBook series come with the NanoEdge display design that we have seen in the Zenbook series. The newly launched gadgets come with a colourful design and have contrasting edges.
The Asus VivoBook S14 and VivoBook S15 are the first ever laptops by the series to some with ScreenPad 2.0, which is basically an upgraded version of the company’s touchscreen-equipped touchpad. The new laptops from the VivoBook series come with an ErgoLift hinge design that is claimed to provide a more comfortable typing experience to the user. Asus Zenfone 6 Edition 30 launched at Computex 2019
Taiwanese smartphone maker Asus had launched its Zenfone 6 flagship smartphone a few weeks back in Spain. The smartphone is the successor of the Asus Zenofne 5Z smartphone that was launched last year. At Computex 2019, the company has launched a limited edition of Asus Zenfone 6 to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The newly launched smartphone is called as Asus Zenfone 6 Edition 30.
The Asus Zenfone 6 Edition 30 smartphone has a new design and comes with enhanced specifications. The smartphone was launched with other products like the ZenBook Edition 30 laptop, VivoBook laptops, and Prime X299 Edition 30 motherboard.
The Asus smartphone features a new design at the rear panel that comes with Zen-inspired concentric circles patterns. The back panel of the smartphone has 3D-curved glass design. The device is only available in Matte Black colour and has an embossed Edition 30 logo on its back. The concentric circle patterns were earlier available on older Asus smartphones too. The company has said that it will only be producing just 3,000 units of the ZenFone 6 Edition 30 handset. It will come with a warranty of 30 months, however, as of now, there is no word on the price and availability of the device.

Xiaomi is all set to launch its next flagship smartphones – Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro – on May 28, 2019. The company has also teased few details about its upcoming devices. Now, Lu Weibing, Redmi’s General Manager has revealed that the upcoming Redmi devices will come with dual-band GPS support which will enhance the positioning accuracy and the speed of location detection of the device. In addition to this, a marketing image of the Redmi K20 has surfaced in China which reveals that the smartphone will come with a pop-up selfie camera and a new gradient blue colour option was also revealed. A new leak has surfaced on the internet which details about some major specifications about the upcoming Redmi device.
Talking about the marketing poster of the Redmi K20, it was spotted in China and it shows that the device will have a pop-up selfie camera. Prior to this, the device in a gradient red colour was leaked but the poster shows a blue gradient version of the Redmi K20. However, whether the Redmi K20 Pro will get the Blue gradient version or not is currently not known. The poster also shows the triple-rear camera setup the Redmi K20 will be housing. The poster further reveals that the Redmi K20 will come with a 48MP main rear camera and a 4,000mAh battery and will be powered by the Snapdragon 730 SoC.
Redmi’s Lu Weibing posted on Weibo about the upcoming Redmi K20-series saying that it will come with a dual-band GPS. The dual-band GPS will come with the capability of using L1 and L5 satellite signals to improve the positioning accuracy and speed. The dual-band GPS will deliver faster and will give more accurate location tracking and it will also be less prone to interferences.
Some new specifications about the Redmi K20 Pro has also been leaked. Both the devices are set to launch simultaneously in China tomorrow. The Redmi K20 Pro is the more beefed up version of the Redmi K20 and it will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC. The retail box with the details about the Redmi K20 Pro has been leaked on Weibo. The Computex is an annual event where all the major PC tech and components maker reveal and release their new products, services and this year, it is all set to begin tomorrow. Prior to this, we saw that AMD released its new 3rd gen Ryzen 3900X CPU at the event. During its Computex inaugural keynote presentation, the President and CEO of AMD, Dr. Lisa Su revealed the 7nm-based CPU and GPU for 2019. AMD Zen 2 core will be used in the next-generation of AMD Ryzen and EPYC CPUs. Dr. Su also announced the launch of AMD’s RDNA gaming architecture along with AMD Radeon RX 5700-series GPUs. Comparing it to the earlier Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, the new RENA architecture promises to deliver good performance, power and a better memory efficiency in a smaller package. On the other hand, the 7nm AMD Radeon RX 5700-series GPUs is powered by the same RDNA architecture and it will come with the GDDR6 memory. The Radeon RX 5700-series will also support PCIe 4.0.
The CEO also announced its Datacenter updates where a demonstration of the 2nd Gen AMD EPYC-based CPU gave 2 times better performance than two Intel Xenos on the NAMD benchmark. AMD teamed up with Microsoft’s Azure to announce better levels of performance for the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) which earlier was unobtainable. To achieve this, Microsoft’s Azure HB cloud ran on a 1st Gen AMD EPYC-CPU based system.
In addition to this, AMD’s CEO Su joined with other technology leaders from Microsoft, Asus, Acer to showcase the computing performance of AMD and its graphics ecosystem. It has not even been a month since the launch of OnePlus 7 Pro and the company has already released a new software update for the new smartphone. The new OxygenOS update will come with camera improvements for the device. The new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro is bringing the new OxygenOS 9.5.4 in India and various other markets as well and as OxygenOS 9.5.5 in Europe. The new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with HDR support and it enhances the low light image quality of the device. Other than that, the general system improvements have also been made to the OnePlus 7 Pro along with optimizations designed for Double Tap to Wake. There is also Ambient Display included in the OnePlus 7 Pro update.
When launched, the camera of the OnePlus 7 Pro was supposed to be one of its major selling point, but the fans and critics were disappointed with the camera performance of the device. So the new camera improvements update will enhance the imaging performance of OnePlus 7 Pro. The update was announced on the official OnePlus forum.
In the blog post, the company said about the update, “This OTA will have a staged rollout, the OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs.”
According to the official announcement, the new OxygenOS 9.5.4 update and the OxygenOS 9.5.5 update will be rolling out in India, Europe and other markets for the OnePlus 7 Pro. As mentioned above, the new update brings improvements to the Image Quality in HDR and low light conditions. Other than that, the new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro also fixes the white balance and focus issues of the device.
System improvements of the OnePlus 7 Pro includes Double Tap to Wake and Ambient Display. The new OxygenOS update has also fixed the issue of audio delay which happened when connected to a Bluetooth headphone when playing games. Lastly, there are bug fixes and general overall improvements that have been made in the new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro.
The new update comes as an OTA (over-the-air) rollout and would take some time to reach all the OnePlus 7 Pro. It is 182MB in size and when it will reach the users’ respective regions, they will be notified about the update. But if its not, they can go to Settings, and then to System Update to manually look for the update.

Huawei CEO will be ‘the first to protest’ if the Chinese government retaliates to US trade ban
Founder and CEO of Chinese smartphone brand Huawei, Ren Zhegfei, has done a number of interviews in the last week in which he has spoken about the US trade ban on his company. In an interview with Bloomberg, Zhengfei has said that he neither expects nor hopes for a retaliation from the Chinese government when it comes to the ban placed on Huawei placed by Trump’s administration. He said, “That will not happen, first of all. And second of all, if that happens, I’ll be the first to protest.”
Since the US government has imposed a ban on all companies in the country on doing business with Huawei, a number of technology websites have halted their dealings with the Chinese smartphone brand. These include Google, which has revoked the company’s license to use Android and its other services, Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, ARM and Microsoft. It should be noted that ARM is based in the UK, but it has stopped its business after the US trade ban with Huawei because of some of its processors are produced in the US.
We should mention that the American security agencies have called out the situation as a national security threat and it has urged people to not buy smartphones from Huawei. Allegations regarding intellectual property and trade secret theft have been levied on the Chinese smartphone brand and this has tarnished its reputation in spite of the fact that no material evidence of wrongdoing has been found yet.
President Trump recently said that the measures taken by him and his government are more of a trade negotiation move against China than a real security response to the smartphone brand.
In a situation like this, it may be right for Huawei to look for the Chinese government’s support. However, CEO Zhegfei has taken a very different approach to the matter. He has said that the company’s current situation is like managing an aircraft with a hole on its side, so it’s far from being great, but at least the plane is still up. The company will have to make appropriate adjustments too.
We should also add that it has been reported that the company has stockpiled components from each of these companies that will last them three months to a year. However, stockpiling is not a permanent solution and the company would have to think of a way to deal with this problem with a more long-term and effective solution if it wants to survive.

AMD’s 3rd gen Ryzen 3900X with a boost clock speed of 4.9GHz launched at Computex 2019
The Computex 2019 is scheduled to be held tomorrow on May 28, 2019 and will go on till June 1, 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan. Ahead of the event, Intel announced its new Core i9-9900KS CPU with a clock speed of 5GHz. Now, AMD has officially announced its new 3rd Gen high-performance Ryzen CPU – the AMD Ryzen 3900 which costs 50% less than the Intel’s Core i9-9920X CPU. The new AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is based on the 7nm architecture which consumes less power. The newly launched 7nm Ryzen 9 3900X is a 12 core CPU with 24 threads and holds a price tag of $499 (approximately Rs 35,000).
The new top-end CPU from AMD, the Ryzen 9 3900X has a smaller Thermal Design Power (TDP) at 105W unlike the Intel Core i9-9920X. It has a boost clock speed of 4.9GHz on all twelve cores. The company also showed a demo at the Computex 2019 where the Ryzen 9 3900X was put against the Intel’s Core i9-9920X. The Ryzen 9 3900X is 19% faster than the Core i9-9920X. The Ryzen 9-3900X is also twice the price of Intel’s CPU making it cost efficient.
Counting all the launched CPUs by AMD in is new 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs we see that the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X will be the top-end processor launched by the company. The new Ryzen 9 3900X has 12 cores and 24 threads. It will have a boost clock speed of 4.9GHz and will pack 70MB cache. The top-end CPU will be powered by 105W TDP and will hold a price tag of $499 (approximately Rs 34,656). The next in line is the AMD Ryzen 3800X which comes with 8 cores and 16 threads. It has a boost clock speed of 4.5GHz and 32MB cache. It is powered by 105W TDP and holds a price tag of $399 (approximately Rs 27,711).
The Ryzen 3700X is the next in line and comes with 8 cores and 16 threads. It has a boost clock speed of 4.4GHz, has 36 MB cache and 65W TDP. It is priced at $329 (approximately Rs 22,849). The last in line and the cheapest of the lot is the AMD Ryzen 3600 which comes with 6 cores and 12 threads. It has a boost clock speed of 4.4GHz and has 36MB cache. The Ryzen 3600 is powered by 65W TDP and is priced at $199 9 approximately Rs 13,820).
All the new AMD 3rd Ryzen CPUs will be made available from July 7, 2019 onwards. The company also launched new GPUs along side its CPUs at the event – the new AMD Navi graphics units. Intel has previewed its new 10nm ‘Ice Lake’ CPU for Ultrabooks and Core i9-9900KS CPU
Ahead of the upcoming Computex 2019, Intel previewed its new 10nm ‘Ice Lake’ CPUs meant to be used in the Ultrabooks laptops. These Ice Lake CPUs will have integrated Gen11 graphics capabilities. Intel also showed the performance numbers of the CPU and these numbers were better and higher than the current Intel’s Gen9 integrated CPUs and the AMD’s Ryzen 3000 series APUs for laptops. According to Intel, the Gen11 Ice Lake CPUs also support VRS (variable rate shading) which is a DirectX 12 feature that allows games to drop the shading part of frame which doesn’t need it. In addition to this, the Gen11 CPUs will reportedly achieve a 1 Teraflop of computing bandwidth.
The 10nm Ice Lake CPUs also comes with AI performance acceleration using the VNNI (Vector Neural Network Instructions). Intel also said that the AI inference instructions running on Ice Lake CPUs with Gen11 graphics is up to 8.8 times faster than any other comparable CPU. The graphs show that the performance of Ice Lake CPUs is 1.42x and 2.08x across the number of demanding games and benchmark scores running at 1080p. While comparing it to a similar AMD CPU, the numbers vary from 0.94x and 1.16x. These numbers were generated by the company itself in its own labs but the real-world performance of the CPU is not currently known.
Although the Ice Lake CPUs was previewed by Intel and more details of it will be revealed at Computex 2019, but they will launch in the second half of the year. But Intel is also expected to provide the 10nm chips for the thin and light Ultrabooks, while for gaming and other heavy usage laptops, the 14nm chips will be used.
Other than that, the company also announced a new consumer-based CPU – Core i9-9900KS with a base clock speed of 4GHz. But it can also be pushed to 5GHz using the Turbo Boost speed on all cores. The new Core i9-9900K will be able to reach 5GHz but only on two cores, while its all-core Turbo Boost speed is 4.7GHz. Other details about the new Core i9-9900KS chips have been announced by the company and it is not yet confirmed whether it will work within the same 95W TDP as the earlier Core i9-9900K or not. Also, the pricing and the availability of the new chip is currently not known. Google unveiled its new cloud-based gaming service called Stadia at its GDC 2019 (Game Developers Conference) in March. At the event, the company didn’t reveal the exact price or game titles that Google’s Stadia will come with. But now, Google may announce the price and upcoming game titles which will be coming to the Stadia among other information.
This was confirmed by Google Stadia’s official Twitter handle where it announced that it would be revealing the price, game announcements and launch information about the platform. It also said that “Stay tuned here for more Stadia details coming soon.” This tweet reveals that the company will soon be launching the game and price of the Stadia. The company might share these above-mentioned details this summer itself.
Talking about Google Stadia, the Stadia is a cloud-based infrastructure where the game developers can easily design and write the games. Then they would also be able to run those games directly on Google’s hardware at data centres. According to Google, game developers will not be limited to just computing the games and will be able to create them with “nearly unlimited resources”. This is Google’s first serious attempt on making games and games consoles.
But it should be noted that Google Stadia won’t be coming to India right after its launch as the country’s internet and technology infrastructure is not strong enough to support the Stadia. And according to Google, the Stadia might be launched in India in the next two years. The local partners in India have already been talks with Google about its India launch and they are suggesting that the platform will be launched in the country in 2021. But it would mean that the Stadia will be the first game streaming service of its kind to be launched in India.
