After the announcement of the launch of more Samsung Galaxy A-series devices in the coming month, the company has launched another Galaxy A-series device. Samsung Galaxy A20 is now officially launched by the South Korean technology giant in Russia. Samsung Galaxy A20 will be part of the Galaxy A-series and will fall between the already launched Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A30. Just like the other launched Galaxy A-series smartphones, Samsung Galaxy A20 too offers good features, a big Super AMOLED display, dual-rear cameras at an affordable price.

In Russia, Samsung Galaxy A20 is priced at RUB 13,990 (approximately Rs 14,900) and it comes in two colour variants – Black and Blue. It should be noted that the smartphone has been only launched in Russia right now but the company might launch the Samsung Galaxy A20 in other markets including India in the coming weeks. Also, the prices of the device might vary in other markets.

Samsung Galaxy A20 specifications

Samsung Galaxy A20 sports a 6.4-inch HD+ (720 x 1560 pixels) resolution Super AMOLED Infinity-U display and is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Samsung’s Exynos 7884 SoC. Samsung Galaxy A20 handset comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage and has support of a microSD card up to 512GB. The newly launched device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with One UI and it packs a 4,000mAh battery. Similar to other Galaxy A-series devices, Samsung Galaxy A20 too comes with a poly-carbonate built. The Galaxy A20 packs a dual-rear camera setup that comprises of a 13MP primary camera paired with a 5MP secondary sensor. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera. The smartphone also sports a fingerprint scanner at the back and it might come with NFC support, although the feature is not confirmed yet. It should be noted that Samsung is going to unveil three more Galaxy A-series devices to its ever-increasing line-up. The company will hold three events in three different cities – Milan, Sao Paulo and Bangkok. According to the reports, the upcoming Galaxy A-series devices would be Galaxy A90, Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A60, out of which, the Galaxy A90 would be the top-end device of the Galaxy A-series smartphones. And Samsung releasing Galaxy A20 before the scheduled event tells us that Samsung has planned to dominate the entire smartphone market – from budget segment to the premium segment.

Cupertino-based technology giant Apple has updated the 21.5-inch and 27-inch models of its iMac desktops with new processors and graphics cards. The update is promised to get a ‘2x performance boost’ to the devices. The 21.5-inch model of iMac is now available with an 8th Gen quad-core i3 or six-core i5 processor coupled with a Radeon Pro 555X GPU or a Radeon Pro 560X. However, if you are one among the customers who want more power from their device, you can get a custom model that comes with up to six-core i7 processor, houses 32GB of RAM, and has AMD’s Radeon Pro Vega 20 GPU onboard. The specifications are similar to what Apple is offering on its refreshed Mac Mini. But the difference is that the iMac comes with an in-built 4K display. Coming to the 27-inch model of the iMac, it comes with Intel’s six core i5 processor. While the two lower configurations come with an 8th Gen processor, the highest one comes with a 9th generation one and costs $2,299. We should add here that Apple us also offering upgrades to its Intel’s latest 9th Gen, eight-core i9 processors. coming to graphics on the 27-inch iMac model, the prebuilt ones will come with Radeon Pro 570X, 575X, and 580X GPUs and a custom option with AMD’s Radeon Pro Vega 48 GPU, that comes with 8GB of memory, can be bought for a higher configuration.
All the 27-inch models of the iMac come with 8GB of RAM and Apple’s fusion drive by default. You can get up to 64GB of memory and faster storage of up to 3TB fusion drive or 1TB of SSD if you are willing to pay more. We should mention that prior to this, Apple updated its iMac model last two years back at WWDC 2017, where Intel’s 7th Gen chips were also rolled out. Another thing worth adding here is that Intel has already released its full lineup of 9th generation chips and Apple is sticking to its 8th generation processors for the prebuilt options. While the latest chips are available in iMacs, but primarily in the custom options. The only preconfigured option to come with the latest chipset is also the priciest one in the 27-inch lineup. We have to admit that this is slightly disappointing as even though Apple products are extremely costly, the company is still not offering the latest processors. It is with noticing that today’s updates are only meant for standard iMac models and the high-end iMac Pro is not getting an upgrade today. Coming to the pricing, while the price of 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1,299, the 27-inch model cost starts at $1,799.

Xiaomi’s Poco F1 is one of the most affordable smartphones to come with Snapdragon 845 SoC. Earlier, the Poco F1 had received huge discounts on all its variants during the Poco Days sale, and now Xiaomi has announced a limited period offer in which the Poco F1 will receive a price cut of Rs 2,000. The offer can be availed through Flipkart and Mi.com from March 25 till the midnight of March 28, 2019. The offer comes after the recent update in which Poco F1 received 4K video recording support at 60fps. Originally, the Poco F1 cost Rs 21,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant while its 6GB RAM/128GB storage model was priced at Rs 30,999. During the offer, the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of the Poco F1 can be bought at Rs 20,999 instead of Rs 23,999. The customers will also be able to buy the Poco F1 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant for Rs 19,999 and get an additional cashback of Rs 2,000 on the purchase. While the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version of the Poco F1 can be bought for Rs 27,999 with an additional cashback of Rs 3,000 on Flipkart. Talking about the specifications of the Poco F1, it sports a 6.18-inch Full HD+ (2246 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It comes with 84 percent NTSC colour gamut, 1500:1 contrast ratio, 2.5D curved glass and has a layer of Gorilla Glass for protection. The Poco F1 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 845 SoC and has Adreno 630 for GPU. It comes in 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants while the storage options includes 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with MIUI 10. The Poco F1 packs a 4000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Xiaomi’s Poco F1 comes with a dual-rear camera setup which comprises of a 12MP primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture with Sony IMX363 sensor coupled with a 5MP secondary Samsung sensor. Technology giant Google finally took wraps off its gaming service Stadia at GDC 2019.  The cloud-based gaming service will work on tablets, smartphones, TVs, laptops, PCs. Users will only require Chrome on these devices in order to have access to Google Stadia. The platform has integration with YouTube and enables developers to add a Play button to the game video on the video platform. So, people who come to watch gaming videos can also play them. The service also comes with a Stadia controller and it links to data centres directly via Wi-Fi. Furthermore, Google Assistant helps players out during the game. However, there are certain questions that Google did not answer at its event. Here’s a look at everything that we don’t know about Google Stadia:

What games would be available?

stadia 8   Although we did get to see some games at yesterday’s keynote including Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Doom: Eternal, Google’s presentation did not give away much on what games we will get to see on Stadia. However, what we do know is that Google’s Stadia gaming service requires games to be ported to it. We expect more details about it to come up in future. As of now, Google also announced that Jade Raymond will be responsible for taking care of first-party games that are meant just for Stadia as well as developer relations. According to Raymond, “working with external developers to bring all of the bleeding edge Google technology you have seen today available to partner studios big and small.”

What will be the cost?

The technology giant has not yet clarified if the service will be a paid one, or it will run advertisements, or is it just free for a particular time of the day. As of now, we have no idea about what to expect in terms of the price of Google Stadia could gaming service.

Will it be available on iOS?

stadia Everyone knows about the rivalry between Google and Apple. However, a lot of Google services like Chrome and Gmail, are available on iOS. But when it comes to Google Stadia, the technology giant has not said anything about its availability on iOS devices. We should add here that if Google Stadia will work like a Store, it would not be available on iOS, as it is against Apple regulations to have a have store within its App Store. This again, is just a speculation, as Google did not clarify it.

What if you already own some games?

So you easily play the game on your laptop, and then continue playing it on your television. However, one thing that Google did not speak about was whether this will only be applicable for playing games that you already own. And needless to say, this is a question that will matter to a lot of gamers across the globe.

How does it plan to get viewers to play games?

And Google’s model is that it will let users play the game after watching its trailer. But the question is, how does it plan to convert viewers into players? Furthermore, let’s not forget that people don’t exactly spend too much time watching trailers. They instead watch famous streamers play games like PUBG and Fortnite. How does Google plan to convert this particular audience?

What will the image quality be like?

But Google has not mentioned whether its service would be up for handling these. Although a 1080p stream looks good, we must also not forget that high-efficiency HD video compression does take away a few details.

How does the multiplayer work?

But the company has not answered a number of questions about it. We still don’t know if we can use our existing account for it or will have to make a new one. Will it be among the paid things on the platform? Will there be some IP issues that players should take into consideration?

Technology giant Google is bringing its Express backup option in its Google Photos for all the Android users in India. The Express backup option was first started by Google for the Android users in a few countries last December. But on Tuesday, Google stated that it has started to roll out the new feature to more Android users in other countries as well. And the Express backup option of Google Photos will reach for Indian Android users with an update of the Google Photos by the end of this week. The new backup option can be seen in the Backup settings in the Google Photos app. Speaking about the new feature, Raja Ayyagari, Product Manager of Google Photos wrote in a blog post, “Express provides faster backup at a reduced resolution, making it easier to ensure memories are saved even when you might have poor or infrequent Wi-Fi connectivity.” Google has stated that the new Express backup option is aimed users who don’t have the availability of good and strong data connections and they are looking to store their clicked photos on Google’s cloud for safe-keeping. According to Google, the Express backup stores the photos at a reduced resolution while maintaining their image quality. Unlike the regular backup uploads which stores the pictures as they are (in high quality), it does not require good data-connection and speed. While the reduced resolution image is low on size and it allows a quicker upload even without the need of a high-speed data connection.
Google stated that the photos saved using the Express backup feature are reduced to 3-megapixel resolution from their original size. And the videos will be stored at a reduced resolution of 480p from their original resolution. The California technology company also stated that the reduced video might lose some information if stored using the Express backup. However, the original Google Photos backup which stored high quality images and videos is also available, so the users can choose between the two options. Besides the Express backup feature for Google Photos, the search giant company also introduced a new Data Cap option for the backup. The Data Cap backup will give the users control over how much data Google Photos can use everyday for backups. It means that the user can decide and limit the data used for backup, the Data Cap can be set as low as 5MB. Although the new feature is launching in India, Google stated that it will launch the feature in ‘dozens’ more countries. But the rollout of the feature is still slow.

Qualcomm is best known for its processors, but that doesn’t mean that it is the only sphere the company has delved in. The company keeps on dabbling with other technologies and often manages to make a mark. The latest report that has surfaced online talks about Qualcomm‘s new VR headset, which will work as a standalone headset for smartphones and users will also be able to connect it with PCs wirelessly. According to a report in CNET, the headset will be unveiled at the ongoing Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and will could hit the shelves in Asia as early as this year itself. While most mobile VR headsets cannot be plugged in to their PC in order to play additional VR games, the American chipmaker has a vision to make it possible in its new reference design that is dubbed as “Boundless XR.” We should add that the new reference design that has been laid out by the company suggests that the device will be able to work as a standalone headset that will have six degrees of freedom and will also be able to link to PCS through a 60GHz connection. The headset by Qualcomm will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipsets. The latency of the Qualcomm’s headset is key at a low 16ms, according to the company. The headset is designed by the company to process VR technology while being connected to a PC. So, at least theoretically, it could help in freeing up some processing power in the users’ computer. But then, it has not been specified how much of processing power will be cleared. Qualcomm also told the technology website that in order to be connected to the headset, PCs and consoles will have to support 802.11ad Wi-Fi and run the company’s software. The games would also be able to support the new headset without any changes, according to Qualcomm. While Qualcomm has made a number of VR reference designs, very few companies have taken up on these including HTC, Facebook, and Lenovo. Most OEMs just stick to manufacturing smartphones, tablets and other such devices. Qualcomm has also revealed that its first headset with the new design will be Pico Neo2 VR headset that will be launched by Chinese electronics firms Pico VR. The company has also said that HTC Vive is another partner that will work to “support the new specification through hardware and content.” However, we should point out that when we speak about reference designs, it is always a possibility that they ultimately don’t hit the shelves.

Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has deployed Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in its Bengaluru-based Soukya sortation center. The company says that this has been done to improve the efficiency at the back end of its supply chain network keeping in mind the growing pressure on Indian e-commerce firms. Flipkart has added that this is particularly true in case of sales days. The setup of Automated Guided Vehicles included over 100 self-guided bots which, according to the company, can sort and assign packages automatically to the pin codes of the customer. This is done by identifying the encoded information on each package. The company has also claimed that up to 4,500 shipments can be processed within an hour and with some adjustments, the number can be taken up by five times. The bots offer a battery backup of up to 7-8 hours and have the capability of moving on their own. They can also carry small packages from one location to the other.
According to Flipkart, the Automated Guided Vehicles will enhance the output of the existing facility without having to invest in space or decrease the number of people working there. The internal tests that have been conducted by the company showed that with 100 AGVs, the improvement in the processor efficiency is up to 60%. This enables them to use the manpower in other areas of the supply chain network, which can also make better use of it. We should mention that Soukya facility employs around 1000 workers and it is able to process lakhs of shipments on a daily basis. The new setup of bots will be operated by the staff that is currently employed there. Internal training will be provided to staff members that will enable them to handle the Automated Guided Vehicles. We should also mention that Flipkart also has plans to build a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Robotics & Automation that is meant for encouraging R&D and the company will partner with startups and universities in order to start it. Speaking about the development, Krishna Raghavan, Senior Vice President of eKart Tech at Flipkart, said, “With the Automated Guided Vehicles, we are re-imagining new growth paths, while orchestrating new and innovative ways of working. We believe this will help bring efficiencies, agility and scale to the supply chain operations, helping us serve the customer better.” The e-commerce space in India has seen a massive growth and according to a report by Deloitte India and Retail Association of India, it is expected to cross $84 billion by 2021, which will be up from $24 billion in 2017.

PUBG Mobile rarely ever stays out of news. Recently, there were reports about 10 PUBG Mobile players being arrested for playing the game in Gujarat, a state which has completely banned it. A few days prior to that, a ‘PUBG‘ gaming tournament in India announced a rather hard to resist prize for the winning team. It can be said that gamers in India have a love-hate relationship with the PUBG Mobile. Amid all of this, Tencent has announced the release date of PUBG Mobile’s update 0.11.5. The company has said that the upcoming update would be available for download on Android as well as iOS starting March 20. The new update will get some interesting features along with itself including PUBG Mobile Prime and Prime Plus subscriptions, ranked season, Royale Pass Season. In addition to this, players will also get Dynamic weather on Erangel and Miramar maps. PUBG Mobile players would be able to now light fireworks during matches and get anniversary rewards by collecting crates in game. Besides this, Tencent has also made changes to how items are earned in the game and stated that players will be able to earn vouchers in PUBG Mobile’s shop if they are not able to win items above a specific quality after a particular number of times in a row.
We should mention that the beta of PUBG Mobile’s update 0.11.5 was 1.7GB in size on Android. So, the stable update is also expected to be similar in size, which means that it should ideally only be downloaded on Wi-Fi. The following are the patch notes of PUBG Mobile update 0.11.5:
  • Players can now view RP rankings of the entire region directly from the royale pass page.
  • Elite Pass Plus purchase now comes with additional rewards other than instantly gaining 25 ranks. More award points can be earned via weekly challenges now.
  • Anniversary Birthday parties will be there Spawn Island. Light fireworks and ability to collect crates during matches. These crates will fetch users anniversary rewards once the match is over. Users can also look out for randomly spawned birthday cakes as they have a surprise hidden in them.
  • Erangel and Miramar maps now have Dynamic weather.
  • A new weapon – G36C rifle – has been added for Vikendi only.
  • A new vehicle – Tukshai a three-wheeled bus – has also been added for Sanhok.
Users can start subscribing in April for either of the two plans: Prime and Prime Plus. Both the plans come with free daily UC, Royale Pass points, a discount of 80% on crates and more. Benefits from both the plans are stackable.

We all know that Instagram is moving towards monetisation not-so-slowly and more and more business features are likely to make their way to the app. Today, another business-related feature was rolled out on the platform as Instagram announced that it is bringing a checkout feature on its mobile app. With the new checkout feature, users can store their payment information with Instagram in order to make purchases more quickly. However, in return, sellers would have to pay a fee to Instagram. Although the feature has just been rolled out today, more than 20 brands will be using it. These include Nike, Adidas, Dior, H&M, MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Uniqlo, Warby Parker, and Zara.
The items that are eligible for in-app checkout on the photo-sharing app now have a big blue button below them that reads ‘Checkout for Instagram’. Once you tap on it, you will be asked to give your email ID so that the seller can then complete your order. Users would then be asked to enter their delivery information and payment method, and once their details are reviewed, they would be able to go ahead with their order. Instagram checkout Prior to this, one could technically not complete their purchase on Instagram as the platform was a medium via which one could go to the web page on the retailer’s website to buy various items. However, this method was not exactly a very pleasing one as a number of users just found the web versions of the websites too slow and left the items in their shopping carts out of sheer frustration. With hopes of solving this and providing an easy shopping place for users, Instagram has rolled out the checkout feature. The company has said that it hopes that if users would be able to complete their purchase inside the app, it will provide them a medium to shop as much as they like. At the same time, it will act as an additional platform for brands to sell their products. We must add here that for now, only the payment information that is stored with Facebook will only be used on Instagram. However, the fact that Facebook is letting us use our information on its other apps does not come as a surprise. But then, the social media giant does claim that it wouldn’t share the payment information of users with retailers or with other users. Shopping may be the next big step for the photo-sharing app and may be that’s the reason it is increasingly taking steps towards it. The company said in a blog post, “Checkout is just one part of our long-term investment in shopping. We’re excited to introduce even more ways for people to enjoy shopping on Instagram this year.

On Monday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed start-up entrepreneurs at an event in Bengaluru where he talked about his plans about India and the entrepreneurs once he came into power. Outside the venue, a large number of people gathered and raised slogans supporting the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A video was released later which showed policemen chasing away the protectors shouting and chanting ‘Modi-Modi’ loudly. The venue of the event was Manyata Tech Park where the Congress President was addressing the people. The protesters were carrying placards and boards which demanded Rahul Gandhi to leave the venue. When the chants and slogans of the pro-Modi supporters grew louder, Police intervened to take control of the situation and clear the area. The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Karnataka has alleged that several protestors (including techies) were taken into custody by the police present on the location. The party also condemned the action taken by the police and alleged that the workers of the opposing party (Congress) had attacked the protestors protesting on the location.
The BJP Karnataka’s Twitter handle wrote ‘Democracy in Danger’ as they posted a video saying that ‘this is the real face of democracy in a Cong JDS ruled state. Its total dictatorship where freedom of choice and expression of citizens is supressed’. They also attached a video showing the police taking the protestors into custody. But the Bengaluru Police denied the arrest allegations. One of the senior police officer Seemanth Kumar Singh tweeted that ‘No one has been arrested, only people were dispersed without the use of force’. While the National President of the BJP, Amit Shah shared the video on his Twitter handle saying that ‘Hugs for ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang and arrest of peaceful youth raising pro-Modi slogan? Where are the champions of ‘Free Speech’? Yuvraj of Congress must know ‘an era moves in the direction in which the youths move’. Stop intimidating youth of India, which has rejected your brand of politics.’ Officer Singh also said that, one section of the protesting crowd was too close to the SPG (Special Protection Group) protectee – Rahul Gandhi. So, the police present on scene had to get the crowd in control. It should be noted that the state BJP leader CT Ravi has also alleged that some workers of the opposing party ‘attacked techies who shouter Modi-Modi slogans. But till now, there isn’t any proof about the violence between the Congress and BJP workers.

Honor quietly announced its mid-range smartphone Honor 10i in Russia
Honor is adding another name to its wide range of smartphone – Honor 10i. The Honor 10i has been introduced quietly in Russia by Honor’s parent company Huawei. The Chinese smartphone brand has assured that the smartphone will ‘soon’ be available in the markets of Russia. The Honor 10i is a mid-range smartphone that offers certain features like a triple-rear camera, an octa-core Kirin 710 SoC and a fingerprint scanner. The Honor 10i is another addition to the Honor 10 line-up of smartphones which already has Honor 10 and Honor 10 Lite. Although, the Honor 10i is somewhat similar to the Honor 10 Lite in many ways and most of their specifications are similar but they also differ at many fronts. The major difference between the Honor 10i and the Honor 10 Lite is the cameras. However, the company hasn’t announced the official pricing of the device or whether it will be launched in markets other than Russia.

Honor 10i price

As stated above, the pricing of the Honor 10i is currently unknown as the company hasn’t announced it yet. While the company’s official listing states that the phone is ‘coming soon’, so it is not currently available for purchase. But since the Honor 10i has been officially announced by the company, the pricing and other details of the smartphone will be announced by Honor soon.
We should add here, that Honor 10 Lite smartphone is priced at Rs 11,999 in India. So, we expect the Honor 10i’s cost to be somewhere close to that only, considering their specifications are similar too.

Honor 10i specifications

According to the current listing on Russian Huawei stores, the Honor 10i sports a 6.21-inch FULL HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a waterdrop-shaped notch. The smartphone is powered by Huawei’s octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie skinned with EMUI 9.0.1 and packs a 3,400mAh battery and comes with a rear fingerprint scanner. In the camera department, the Honor 10i comes with a triple rear camera which comprises of a 24MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture paired with an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture along with a 2MP ultra-wide lens. On the front panel, there is a 32MP AI-powered selfie camera. The Honor 10i comes in three colour options – the Red and Blue variant comes with 3D gradient back finish, while the Black colour has a 3D finish without gradient. Other specifications of the Honor 10i includes NFC, Face Unlock support, 4G VoLTE support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi has today launched its most affordable smartphone – Redmi Go – in the country. Redmi Go is a part of Google’s Android Go program and it is primarily meant for those who will be trying an Android smartphone for the first time. While the smartphone inevitable competes with a number of entry-level smartphones in the country, it also goes up against Xiaomi’s own Redmi 6A handset. Both the smartphones belong in the budget segment. However, we should point out here that although Xiaomi Redmi 6A is priced slightly higher than Redmi Go, it also comes with better specifications. So if you are looking for an entry-level smartphone, you would most likely at least consider a few options from Xiaomi, even if you choose not to settle for them. However, if you are certain that you would buy a Xiaomi smartphone, then Redmi Go and Xiaomi Redmi 6A smartphones are two devices you would have to make a choice between. A much talked about Oppo smartphone – AX5s – is now official as the company listed the new smartphone on its official Taiwan website. The Oppo AX5s will be a part of the company’s earlier AX5 line-up. But it should be noted that the Oppo AX5 is also known as Oppo A5 in many markets around the world (including India). So, there is a possibility that the Oppo AX5s will be launched as Oppo A5s in India. Earlier, we saw that the specifications of the Oppo A5s have been leaked online and according to reports, the smartphone also received the BIS certification in India. So, there is a possibility that the Oppo A5s and the Oppo AX5s might be launching in the coming weeks in the Indian market. The new Oppo AX5s is similar to the Oppo AX5 in many ways, but the major difference between the two smartphones is the processor that has been used. The Oppo AX5s uses a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC while the Oppo AX5 uses a Snapdragon 450 SoC. Although the Oppo AX5s has been announced, its price is still not known.

Oppo AX5s sports a 6.2-inch HD+ (720 x 1520 pixels) display that has a waterdrop shaped notch on top. As mentioned earlier, the Oppo AX5s is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone carries a 4,230mAh battery and runs Android 8.1 Oreo skinned with ColorOS 5.2. The Oppo AX5s holds a model number Oppo CPH1920 and it is now listed on the company’s official Taiwan website. The handset is available in Red and Black colour options. Oppo AX5s is now listed officially on the company’s Taiwan website The Oppo AX5s has a dual-rear camera setup which comprises of a 13MP primary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture coupled with a 2MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Other features of the Oppo AX5s includes 4G LTE support, Bluetooth 4.2, and USB-OTG support. Oppo AX5s comes with Light sensing, distance sensing, gravity sensing, electronic compass and gyroscope. The Oppo AX5s has dimensions of 155.9 x 75.4mm x 8.2mm and it weighs at 170gms. Although the smartphone is now official but there is no mention about the price of the device, even on the official Taiwan website. There is a possibility that it will be priced around the Oppo AX5 which currently sells for TWD 5,300 (approximately Rs 11,793). But since it is now official, we can see its launch in the coming weeks. Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi has today launched its Redmi Go smartphone in India, which is also the first Android Go handset from the company. We should mention that the device is the most affordable one by Xiaomi in India yet and was launched at an event in New Delhi. Although Redmi Go was first launched by Xiaomi in January this year, the company eventually rolled it out in the Philippines in February. Among the key highlights of the smartphone are Google Photos storage, its 3,000mAh battery, and an HD display. Xiaomi has touted that Google Assistant on Redmi Go has support for 20 Indian languages including Hinglish. Here’s everything that you need to know about the newly launched device in India:

The Redmi Go smartphone comes in a lone 1GB RAM/8GB internal storage variant in India, which is priced at Rs 4,499. There is another variant of the smartphone that comes with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, but till now it has not been launched in India. Redmi Go smartphone is available in Black and Blue colour options and can be bought from Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home Stores starting March 22. As a part of launch offers, Xiaomi is offering a Jio cashback worth Rs 2,200.

The Redmi Go smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), which we should add has been that has been designed for handsets in the budget range. The Redmi Go smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display that has a pixel density of 296ppi and an aspect ratio of 16:9. Powered by quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor, Redmi Go smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM clubbed with Adreno 308 GPU onboard. For imaging duties, the smartphone has an 8MP camera on its back panel that has an f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels and an LED flash module. On its front panel, the handset houses a 5MP sensor that comes with an f/2.2 aperture and 1.12-micron pixels, and can be used for selfies and video calls. The smartphone comes with in 8GB of onboard storage and can hold a microSD card of up to 128GB. Users also get unlimited storage on Google Photos and that too in high quality resolution. The Redmi Go handset packs a 3,000mah battery and its connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, a micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Redmi Go comes with an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

Earlier this year, Samsung had promised that it would launch multiple Galaxy A-series smartphones every month till June and keeping its word, the company will be announcing more than one Galaxy A-series smartphones at an event on April 10. Samsung will be hosting press events in Milan, Bangkok and Sao Paulo and the event will be live-streamed on Samsung’s official YouTube channel. Although the company has not yet specified the named of the smartphones it will be launching in April, but it will be another Galaxy A-series device. The South Korean technology giant has already launched three A-series devices namely Samsung Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50. So, we could see the launch of a much-leaked device – Samsung Galaxy A90. There is also a possibility that Samsung will be launching its Galaxy A40, Galaxy A60 and Galaxy A70 at the event. Samsung’s official invite reads that the company will ‘unveil its latest Galaxy A devices’ at the event so we can assume that there will be more than one devise launching on April 10. Out of all the devices mentioned above, Samsung Galaxy A90 and the Galaxy A40 have the highest possibility of being launched because they were earlier spotted on the company’s official website. However, along with them, more smartphones of the Galaxy A-series could be launched.
Samsung Galaxy A90 was earlier spotted on the company’s official US website where it was mentioned alongside the Galaxy S10 series devices which were to receive special Asphalt 9 gifts. According to the concept renders and leaks, Samsung Galaxy A90 might come with a sliding and rotating camera or a pop-up selfie camera. There might also be a new Infinity Display without a notch or hole-punch. Samsung Galaxy A90 will reportedly come with a 6.41-inch display and will be powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC. While Samsung Galaxy A40’s support page went live on the company’s official German and UK website and it has already received the FCC certification. According to the leaks and renders, the Galaxy A40 might be powered by Exynos 7885 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM. It might have an in-display fingerprint scanner and ToF 3D sensor. Samsung Galaxy A60, on the other hand, has received its Bluetooth certification and it might be launched at the event next month. The smartphone is speculated to sport a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ Infinity-U display and is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 6150 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There is a possibility that the South Korean technology giant might unveil other smartphones along with these but we will have to wait to find out.

Software giant Microsoft has announced that as a part of its Halo Insider Program, PC players will be able to sign up to test the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection. We should mention that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection version will be rolled out on Windows this year, however, there is no confirmed date of launch that we know of yet. The PC port of developer Bungie’s Halo trilogy, besides Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST, will be available on Microsoft’s Store as well as Valve’s Steam marketplace, both of which are popular among gamers. We should mention that the collection was initially launched on Xbox One in 2014. The company has spoken about it on its dedicated Halo Insider page saying, “As a Halo Insider, you’ll have the opportunity to regularly provide feedback and insights that help shape and inform current franchise initiatives and the future of Halo. You will also be given exclusive opportunities to participate in public flights of in-progress Halo game releases and provide feedback to the development teams.”
The software giant has said that the entire collection will not be released at once. Rather, it will begin with Halo: Reach, which we should mention was not a part of the original Xbox version. In addition to this, Microsoft also stated that Halo: Reach will be made available in 4K/60 fps and will have support for HDR. However, you would only be able to enjoy the version with 4K/60 fps with HDR support if you own the collection on Xbox and play it on an Xbox One X console. However, we must also point out that a drawback here. The collection would not be a part of the Xbox Anywhere program, which lets players get a game that has been published by Microsoft on either PC or Xbox. The program makes the games accessible and at times, even interoperable across various platforms. According to a report in Kotaku, Microsoft made the announcement during a panel discussion at Austin’s South by Southwest festival. Bonnie Ross, the studio head at 343 Industries spoke about the development at the event saying, “One of the questions we’ve gotten is will MCC PC support Xbox Play Anywhere, and first off I want to say we so appreciate all of the support we’ve had from the Xbox One community with MCC and we’re obviously bringing Reach to MCC. While MCC shipped before the XPA Play Anywhere, we are exploring ways to make sure that we show our appreciation and recognition for the support we’ve had from the amazing fans on MCC and we’ll have more to announce as we get closer to launch.”

The storage of the Black Shark 2 also comes in two variants – 128GB and 256GB. Black Shark 2 smartphone sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. According to Xiaomi, the Black Shark 2 uses the world’s first ‘direct touch multilayer liquid cooling system’ which the company claims to keep the CPU 14-degrees cooler. There is a dual-rear camera setup at the back of the Black Shark 2 comprising of a 12MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture coupled with another 12MP secondary camera with 2x optical zoom and an f/2.2 aperture. At the front, there’s a 20MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The Black Shark 2 packs a 4,000mAh battery and comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Black Shark 2 is priced at CNY 3,200 (approximately Rs 32,647) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant while the 12GB RAM/256GB storage variant costs CNY 4,200(approximately Rs 42,849). Black Shark 2 is the second iteration of the Xiaomi’s gaming smartphone sub-brand Black Shark. The first phone was launched by the company back in 2018, but it was sold in the Chinese and the European markets only. Following the launch of Black Shark, the company launched another gaming phone named Black Shark Helo which was also launched in the same year for the Chinese and the European markets. With Black Shark 2, Xiaomi is hoping to compete with the other gaming phones sold in the market like the Asus ROG Phone, Razer Phone 2, Nubia Red Magic Mars etc. But it should be noted that each of these gaming phones offer something different than the other like a higher refresh rate, a better CPU, better cooling, rugged built, accessories or sleek design. During its first sale, Samsung Galaxy M30 it was well received by the customers, and now it is set to go on a second sale today from 12:00pm (noon) onwards.

Cupertino-based technology giant Apple is all set to unveil its new video service next week. However, even now, there are a number of things that we don’t know about Apple’s plans. But today, we know one thing for sure: Netflix is definitely not a part of Apple’s video service plans. This has been confirmed by none other than Netflix CEO Reed Hastings. He has clarified that the company would not be selling its subscriptions via the hub that Apple will be launching. Apple’s platform will be a lot like Amazon‘s which sells services like HBO and Showtime. We should also add here that Facebook is also working on a very similar idea. Speaking to Recode, Hastings said, “Apple’s a great company. We want to have people watch our shows on our services.”
We should say that is was expected as Netflix already dominates the video streaming space and it has been consistently been distancing itself from Apple if you trace back the last few years. Interestingly, this is exactly the period when Apple developed an interest in launching its own video service. And this is not the first time when Netflix has counted itself out of an Apple service. To recall, in 2016, the Cupertino-based technology giant launched a new TV app which was supposed to be a digital TV guide. No surprises here: Netflix did not sign up for it. When asked about this, the company’s content head Ted Sarandos said that Apple is not an important source of revenue for Netflix. However, now there are going to be a number of other companies that Netflix will have to deal with including Apple, Disney and WarnerMedia. Speaking on how Netflix plans to compete with them, Hastings was quick to say “with difficulty.” On a more optimistic note, he added, “These are amazing, large, well-funded companies … but you do your best job when you have great competitors.” We should add that the CEO has maintained this even when he was asked previously about competition like HBO and Amazon. He has also pointed out that those services and Netflix have grown simultaneously, which means that the success of his video streaming platform does not have to be at any other service’s expense. But considering that the number of services is now going up, not all of them will succeed as video streaming space is getting increasingly competitive now. Although there will be some people who would subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple, Disney Plus, HBO and others. However, there wouldn’t be too many such people.

Just a week before its March 25 event, Apple has taken wraps off its new iPad Air and iPad Mini. The new tablets by Apple come with a number of upgrades including an advanced Retina Display and the A12 Bionic Chipset. Here’s everything that you need to know about the newly launched iPad Air and iPad Mini tablets:

Screen size

ipad mini 2 The new iPad Air sports a 10.5-inch LED-backlit Retina display with 1668×2224-pixel resolution. On the other hand, the new iPad Mini features a 7.9-inch LED-backlit Retina display with a pixel resolution of 1536×2048. According to Apple, the advanced Retina displays of the iPads come with True Tone technology and their wide colour support is 25% brighter. The display of iPad Air is 20% larger with over half a million more pixels, according to the company.

Processor and storage

ipad mini 3 The newly launched iPads by Apple are powered by the A12 Bionic processor coupled with the company’s Neural Engine. The new iPad Air is claimed to deliver a 70% boost in performance and have twice the graphics capability as compared to its predecessor. On the other hand, the new iPad Mini is said to be a powerful multi-tasking machine that can deliver three times the performance and nine times faster graphics as compared to its predecessor. Both the tablets are available in 64GB and 256GB storage configurations.

Camera

ipad mini Both the tablets have identical cameras. On the back, the new iPad Air and iPad Mini sport an 8MP rear camera with an f/2.4 aperture and five-elements lens. But, the tablets do not come with a flash. For selfies and video calls, there is a 7MP selfie camera clubbed with a Retina flash.

No support for Face ID

iPad Air 2019 We should point out that the upgraded iPads do not support Face ID, but they do have support for Touch ID. Other connectivity options of the new iPad Air and iPad Mini include Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and optional LTE support.

Compatible with Apple Pencil

On the other hand, the new iPad Mini’s Wi-Fi only version bears a price tag of $399 (Indian pricing – Rs 34,900), and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model costs $529 (Indian pricing – Rs 45,900).

Huawei upcoming flagship devices, the P30 and the P30 Pro are scheduled to launch on March 26 at an event in Paris, France. In the last couple of weeks Huawei’s upcoming smartphones have been in talks for one reason or the other. And now, a new report suggests that the upcoming Huawei P30 Pro will sport Samsung’s AMOLED display panel. Samsung has reportedly made a contract with the Chinese smartphone manufacturer for supplying curved AMOLED display panels for Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphone. It should be noted that Huawei might take the contract off from its previous partners – LG and BOE to use Samsung’s AMOLED panel in its upcoming smartphones. The reason for the change of business partners is said to be Samsung’s production capability where it can produce and offer high quality display panels to the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Although there is no official news from both the companies about the supply of OLED panels, but it is expected to be announced in the coming days. The information about the contract between the South Korean technology giant and Huawei comes from a tipster on Weibo who reports that Samsung will be the only supplier of AMOLED panels for the Huawei P30 Pro. The report further states that Huawei will be taking the curved display panels from Samsung on a large scale. For this reason, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer might have to break ties with its previous partners who supplied OLED panels to Huawei – LG and BOE. And with this new deal, we will reportedly see AMOLED display panels in the future Huawei P-series and Mate-series smartphones, both of which are high-end devices.
The exact reason and the type of the business contract between Samsung and Huawei is still unknown but it is being speculated that Huawei wants to use Samsung’s OLED panels in their smartphones. And it is a known fact throughout the smartphone industry that Samsung produces great quality of OLED panel, which is also the reason Apple uses the company’s display panels on its flagships. Samsung’s latest flagship device – the Galaxy S10 has received DisplayMate’s highest ranking – A+ in its display quality which further proves the point. But it should be noted that LG’s OLED panels, which Huawei used in the Mate 20 Pro, had a display bleeding issue which created greenish tint at the edges of the display. So, Huawei’s partnership with Samsung might mean that it wants to use the best OLED panels for its upcoming flagship devices.
