Oppo 10x lossless zoom smartphone camera technology unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2019

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has unveiled its 10x lossless zoom technology at its event in MWC 2019, that has started in Barcelona, Spain. The company has also announced that the mass production of the camera technology is ready and it will be seen in its next smartphone that will be launched in Q2 2019. Oppo has also shared details about how the 10x lossless zoom technology works in devices with a triple rear camera setup comprising of a primary sensor, an ultra-wide-angle sensor and a telephoto sensor that has a periscope-style lens setup. So, because Oppo’s 10x lossless zoom technology can only function in triple rear camera setup, issues like multi-focal length and continuous zoom obstacles to lossless zoom are taken care of. It would come with a 48MP high-resolution primary camera, a 16nm focal length 120-degree ultra-wide-angle camera and a 160mm focal length telephoto camera. The telephoto lens comes with two ‘D-cut optical lenses’ that are arranged in a periscopic horizontal way and the company says that this would reduce the thickness of the camera setup. It also said that in case a regular upright camera module sensor had been used, the setup would have been thicker at 15mm. With periscope-style D-cut lenses, the module is only 6.76mm thick. According to Oppo, the D-cut optical lens makes “two parallel cuts on a circular lens”.
The periscope lenses are combined using a prism, and according to the Chinese smartphone brand, it further reduces the size of the camera module. In addition to this, Oppo also said that up to 13% of space has been saved in the module by using two autofocus motors. While one has been used for the 48MP primary camera, the other has been used for the 120-degree ultra-wide lens. oppo 10x zoom Coming back to the 10x lossless zoom technology, the company has said that it uses optical image stabilisation (OIS) on the primary sensor as well as on the telephoto sensor. This, according to Oppo, reduces the shake and blur in case the device will be used for taking zoomed in shots. Oppo has also added that the OIS technology has a stabilization precision of 0.001445 degrees. We should mention that this means an improvement of 73% improvement over the company’s 5x optical zoom technology. Oppo has said that the technology is in mass production ready and the camera technology will be used in the company’s ‘next smartphone‘ that will be launched in Q2 2019. Besides this, Oppo also discussed its plans on 5G connectivity at the event.

Twitter co-founder Evan Williams is resigning from the Twitter board, after 12 years

Evan Williams, the CEO of publishing platform Medium and board member of Twitter has announced that he is stepping down from the position he has held at Twitter. After 12 years of being a part of the micro-blogging platform, the man who is one of the co-founders of Twitter is resigning from his post. He tweeted that it was an incredible experience to be a part of the micro-blogging website. He described his work as a series of accomplishments and a life which he holds very close to his heart. He said, that though he is quitting the board, he will still serve the platform side by side along with his other projects. To recall, Evan Williams co-founded Twitter in 2007 with Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone. Later it got disintegrated as the confluence of those three led to the creation of an independent microblogging website. In 2008, Evan Williams became the CEO of Twitter after Dorsey, and then he was replaced by Dick Costolo in 2010. It is very amazing to see, that despite betrayal, Williams continued to serve Twitter for 12 years.
Williams wrote a message on Twitter expressing his gratitude for his co-founders and board members. He said, “Thank you, @jack and @biz for starting this crazy company with me—and continuing to make it better and better. And to my fellow board members, new and old—some of the most thoughtful people I’ve ever known”. He also said. “I’m very lucky to have served on the @Twitter board for 12 years (ever since there was a board). Chinese smartphone brand Huawei is all set to launch its first foldable smartphone, that will reportedly be called Mate X, at Mobile World Congress 2019 today. However, there is one thing that Huawei’s foldable phone will have that Samsung Galaxy Fold doesn’t – 5G connectivity. So, we can say that although Huawei is not the first company to launch a foldable smartphone, it is definitely the first to launch a 5G-enabled foldable device. Here’s everything that you need to know about the Huawei Mate X launch:

Huawei’s foldable phone – Huawei Mate X poster revealed

0
It looks like foldable phones are all the rage now, first Samsung released their Samsung Galaxy Fold earlier this week and Xiaomi is also coming up with their own foldable phone. Joining the race of the foldable phones is Chinese smartphone maker Huawei, which is planning to launch its foldable phone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. Huawei’s foldable phone will be named Huawei Mate X and ahead of its launch at the MWC, its poster has been leaked. The poster was uploaded by a Twitter user named gimme2pm. In the leaked picture, workers are seen putting the poster in place, and the name of the phone is clearly visible along with the phone itself. The picture shows three photos of the Huawei Mate X — one with the phone completely open, another with the phone half-closed and the last with the phone completely folded. The design of the phone is very different from Galaxy Fold of Samsung. Galaxy Fold had two screens, one smaller screen on the outside and the main screen inside which unfolded into a tablet. The screen folded inwards in Samsung Galaxy Fold but it is different in Mate X as it folds outwards and wraps around the exterior of the phone.
Instead of having two screens, the Huawei Mate X has only one screen (according to the picture). If we talk about Xiaomi’s take on foldable phone, we saw that the phone folded on two sides and it too folded outwards unlike Samsung’s. It was speculated that Xiaomi will be the one which will reveal their foldable phone after Samsung, and videos of Xiaomi’s foldable phones have already surfaced online. But it looks like Huawei will be the second in line to take the stage at MWC 2019 in Barcelona to unveil the Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone. Huawei’s press event is scheduled on February 24, 2pm local time in Barcelona, Spain. The specifications and the price range in which the Huawei Mate X will be sold is still unknow. But it won’t take long before we get to see Huawei Mate X live in full view, with its price revealed. The scaffolding blocks the first line on the banner but the second line reads: “World’s first foldable 5G phone” (which Huawei did tease) with the words “Huawei Mate X”. Microsoft might launch its next-generation of Xbox consoles at E3 2019

Microsoft is planning to make a big entry at this year’s E3 2019 with a showcasing of next-generation gaming console. The name of the product and pricing details have not been known yet, however, we expect that Microsoft will soon announce more information ahead of its launch. News is that this console is going to be more powerful than the last version and will support 4K resolution out of the box. Microsoft had unveiled its future console roadmap sometime ago, which took place after the launch of the Xbox One X. To recall, Microsoft had unveiled the next iteration of Halo game also at the previous E3, which was called the Halo Infinite. The rumours about Microsoft working on a game streaming service for Xbox consoles for Windows PC turned out to be true after the tech giant talked about the same. Its erstwhile announcement of a cloud service called, the xCloud will undergo public trials this year, too. The xcloud is generally considered better than the next-gen hardware and services. To recall, last year, in December, Microsoft revealed two about-to-launch consoles with the Codenames Anaconda and Lockheart.
Based on other rumours, we also deem that the high end version Anaconda will contain a sold state drive, and the lower-end Lockheart will come with a disc-less variant which will compliment xCloud. Along with this, there will be a new disc-digital initiative, which is meant for transferring data over physical libraries. According to reports, the latest Xbox devices will be backwards compatible with hardware of the current generation. Also, it has been said that new Xbox One X and One S might be launched with the new name, Halo Infinite. With Sony likely to be absent when it comes to next-gen consoles, we are hoping that Microsoft will make a big move at the upcoming E3 2019. However, we are eagerly waiting for the PlayStation 5 that Sony is supposed to launch around this event. We guess we should just sit back and wait until the event comes so that we can experience these exciting new gadgets and realise, what the tech giants actually have up their sleeve. Vivo V15 price, launch date and specifications leaked

0
Vivo’s newly launched smartphone in India, the V 15 Pro was received well with its triple rear and pop-up selfie cameras. But, now rumors are that the company might be looking forward to launching the Vivo V15 on February 25 in India. Vivo V15 will be a toned-down version of the Vivo V15 pro and will also be priced lower than its Pro model. The leaked information about the Vivo’s upcoming V15 reveals the speculated price and specifications of the smartphone. According to the reports, the lesser version of Vivo V15 Pro will sport a 6.39-inch LCD Display, unlike the AMOLED panel featured on the its elder brother. It might be powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage, whereas the Vivo V15 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 675 AIE CPU. The leaked information says that the Vivo V15 will be sporting a triple rear camera setup, but it won’t have the 48MP camera we saw on the elder sibling. The camera setup will have a 24MP main sensor + an 8MP wide-angle sensor + a 5MP depth sensor. And like the V15 Pro, the Vivo V15 will also have a 32MP pop-up selfie camera. The upcoming smartphone might be backed by a 3,700mAh battery with fast charging support.
The Vivo V15 should have the latest Android 9.0 Pie skinned with FunTouch OS 9. But contrasting the V15 Pro which has an in-display fingerprint scanner, the V15 might have a rear fingerprint scanner. The leaked report on 91mobiles also revealed that the smartphone might release in the Indian market on February 25. Reports further say that the Vivo V15 might be priced between Rs 22,000 and Rs 25,000. The elder sibling, Vivo V15 Pro is priced at Rs 28,990 in which the user gets 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. And the pro model of V15 is going on sale from March 5 through online shopping platforms. The specifications, price and release date of the upcoming phone hasn’t been confirmed by Vivo yet so there are chances the information is incorrect. But it is likely that the leaked information might be right.

PUBG Mobile Zombies Mode: 12 tips to kill the zombies and win the Chicken Dinner

PUBG Mobile Zombies Mode is the hardest mode in the game so far and with it, the fiercest possible fight has begun. You don’t only have to kill other players, but you also need to deal with zombies from Resident Evil 2. PubG Mobile Season 6 has also been announced and we for one cannot wait to get our hands on it. Also, if you like playing PubG Mobile Online, then there might be some bad news for you. Tencent might put a 6 hours restriction on the game per day per player. To make things easier for you, we are listing down 12 tips that you can follow to win your Chicken dinner and to defeat the deadly zombies in the PUBG Mobile Zombies Mode:

See where you land

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 4 No matter which mode of PUBG Mobile you are playing, the place where you land always matters. We suggest you land at populated spots on the Map like Pochinki. Here, along with you, there will be a number of other players who will be engaged in fighting so that should kill off more number of zombies quickly.

Team work matters, especially at night

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 11   It is impossible to survive the Erangel Map alone. So remember, your team members are not just your squad, they are your family. After sunset, you would find most zombies turning violent and they will begin attacking the players. At this hour, you are with your team, it would be easy for you to kill them together.

Zombie Bombs can kill a lot of zombies together

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 13 The first thing that you should know about Zombie Bombs is that they don’t harm the players but will kill all the zombies around you. Isn’t that exactly what you need? But then, like any other weapons, you would have to collect them from houses and use them when its dark and your squad is surrounded by a herd of walkers.

Zombie Vaccine is a life-saver

In PUBG Mobile’s new mode, Zombies are literally everywhere and there is no choice for you but to encounter them. In such a situation, having Zombie Vaccine handy would help you heal more quickly. So, it’s a must-have if you plan to take on Zombies.

Keep your medical supplies with you

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 3 The night is dark and full of terrors. And zombies. So, in order to heal from an attack, you must have your stock of first aid kits, med kits, energy drinks, and painkillers ready at all times.

Use vehicles to your advantage

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 7 There’s a lot more that you can do with vehicles in the Zombie Mode as compared to other modes. For instance, you can use the vehicle to block the entrance to the building. This will prevent the zombies from entering the building buying you enough time to fire and hold them off till dawn.

Watch how you use your ammo

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 8 Zombies can be killed by bullets, however, at night, when they show up from everywhere, it is not that easy to kill them all. So, use your ammo sparingly. Aim for headshots to eliminate them as quickly as you can and remember to save the ammo for the onslaught until dawn.

Kill of the Zombie Bosses

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 9 Killing Zombie Bosses will give you better loot, and at times, you may even get an 8X. Once the dawn returns, you can pick up whatever the zombies have left behind like guns, bullets and melee. Itt will help you survive the next night.

Camping right is important

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 10 To set up your camp, you should pick a building with a natural choke point such as a staircase to maintain a safe distance from the zombies in order to take them out. Defend your position and this tactic could buy you precious seconds to eliminate the enemies.

Know your Zombies

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 2 One thing you should know about Zombies is that the ones that will appear on the second night would be more difficult to deal with than the first one. So, to deal with them, try and stock up with all kind of zombie repellents available.

Fight or flight

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 6 After you’re done fighting the demons on the first night, heal up and prepare to run towards the centre of the map. So, you should spend the second night running as the Zombies are difficult and hard to fight and kill off.

Don’t forget the Chicken Dinner

PUBG Mobile zombies mode 12 When it’s dawn, use your time to kill other players. Don’t waste your energy in killing zombies then. Remember, Zombies may be more difficult to deal with, but the Chicken Dinner cannot be won till you are the last man standing.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ beats Google Pixel 3 in the DxOMark selfie camera test

0
Samsung seems to be grabbing all the headlines now with its newest offerings to the smartphone world – the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e. The smartphones come with the top-of-the-line processor, Infinity-O display, great camera setup and much more. This time the camera of the S10+ has grabbed the headlines as it has been ranked as the best selfie camera smartphone right now. The Galaxy S10+ beat Google’s Pixel 3, which held the title earlier and which happens to be known for its photography-centric features. Samsung Galaxy S10 and Samsung Galaxy S10+ both come with a triple rear camera setup but it is the plus-sized variant of Galaxy S10 which has the dual front camera. The front camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy S10+ comprises of a 10MP primary selfie camera with 1.22-micron pixels, f/1.9 aperture and Dual-Pixel autofocus + an 8MP f/2.2 RGB secondary sensor for depth sensing. Google Pixel 3 too had dual selfie camera and it was ranked at the top of the charts, but Galaxy S10+ overthrew the old champion of selfie cameras. In a test by DxOMark, Samsung Galaxy S10+ has got a selfie camera score of 96, which is the highest any Samsung smartphone has ever scored. Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 both score 92 in the selfie camera test. So, Galaxy S10+ became the first Samsung phone to score that high on the charts. Samsung Galaxy S10+ got an overall score of 109 in the camera test, which is the same as other smartphones like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei P20 Pro. Both these phones from Huawei had great cameras.
DxOMark is an independent image quality measurements and rating website for smartphones, cameras and lens since 2008. The website recently started reviewing and scoring selfie cameras of smartphones and till now the Pixel 3’s dual selfie cameras were standing at the top. DxOMark said that the Samsung Galaxy S10+ has “the best front camera performance for both still images and video.” The review of the website talks about the picture detail of the Galaxy S10+ camera, its low noise and its improved bokeh effect in Portrait mode. But it should also be noted that when testing the rear camera of the Galaxy S10+, it did not beat Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro, instead, it had the same score as them. The rear camera of Samsung’s plus-sized flagship comprises of a 12MP primary camera with 1.4-micron pixels and Dual Aperture (f/1.5-2.4), Dual-Pixel autofocus and OIS + a 16MP secondary camera with an ultra-wide-angle f/2.4 lens + a 12MP telephoto f/2.4 camera with PDAF and OIS. Coming to camera samples, DxOMark said that the still photo performance of the device is great and it does an ‘outstanding’ job with its dynamic range. The pictures taken from Galaxy S10+ were great in their exposure, bokeh and colour. Samsung Galaxy S10+ is currently selling for a starting price of Rs 73,900.

Sony Xperia 1, Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus and Xperia L3 specifications, price leaked

0
Japanese consumer electronics maker Sony will soon be seen unveiling its new Xperia smartphone lineup at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2019, which is scheduled to begin on February 25. However, there is no need for you to wait until then to see what the company will be launching. This is because a report has surfaced on technology website 91mobiles with the leaks of the entire lot along with images, specifications and pricing details. The report says that Sony will be seen launching four smartphones at the upcoming technology show. These include Sony Xperia L3, Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus and the company’s flagship smartphone – Xperia 1. We should mention that the names of the smartphones are the same as a previous leak by renowned tipster Evan Blass. The tipster had shared the images of Xperia 1, Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus on his Twitter profile just a few hours before the report had surfaced online.

Finally, Facebook is going to shut down its spyware VPN app Onavo

Facebook’s Onavo Protect app is about to shut down in the coming days, and this will cease it from accessing data of users for market research. However, it will continue operating as a Virtual Private Network for a limited period of time in order to allow users to find a replacement. The recruitment of new users for the Facebook Research app has also completely stopped. However, Facebook Research app studies which are ongoing will continue. It has decided to run paid programs where users will be remunerated for giving up their privacy since more scrutiny of privacy violation has begun by search engines. Onavo has billed itself in such a way, that it is able to curb apps from using background data. It will provide a secure VPN network so that your personal information remains reticent. However, it will take into account, the amount of time you spend using apps, mobile and WiFi data you use per app, websites you visit, your country, device and network type.
A Facebook spokesperson said, “Market research helps companies build better products for people. We are shifting our focus to reward-based market research which means we’re going to end the Onavo program.” To recall, Facebook acquired Onavo in 2013 for a price of $200 million so that it can use its VPN app and gather data about what people are doing on their smartphones. Last year Apple made Facebook remove the Onavo VPN app from app store due to privacy concerns. However, Facebook repurposed Onavo code to use it in its Facebook Research app. This app was reportedly paying $20 gift cards to users in the US between the age group of 13 to 35 years per month in return of letting them spy on them. The social media giant ran an obscure program, which informed nothing to users other than whom it recruited for its Facebook Research program. A Facebook spokesperson reportedly said that there is nothing secret about this. However, it threatened users with legal action if they discussed anything publicly about the programme. According to the company, the newly launched AC ranges are durable, tough and have corrosion-free parts in them. With its new ranges of ACs, Panasonic’s aim is to provide ‘Quality Air for Life’ to its customers, according to the company. They are priced from Rs 39,900 to Rs 53,990 and come in 3-star and 5-star category. Their models come in 1 ton, 1.2 ton,1.5 ton and 2 ton variants. These ACs can work between a range of 145 V to 285 V and can be used without setting up a stabilizer. The newly launched air conditioners come with a 10-year warranty on inverter compressor and a 5-year warranty on eco tough outdoor casing. Speaking about the new devices, Gaurav Sah, Business Head of Air Conditioners Group, Panasonic India said, “Our new range not only aims at improving indoor air quality, but also promotes better and healthier living among consumers by helping them make informed choices.”
The newly launched ACs have three vital elements – Maximizing comfort, prioritizing health of the user and the durability of the product. After reaching the temperature set by the user, blades of the AC direct the air towards the ceiling so that it can give ‘Shower Cooling effect’. This feature makes sure that the air and the temperature spreads evenly in the room rather than cooling only the front of the AC. They also have a powerful mode which cools the room/environment quickly. Sah further added that, “Panasonic air conditioners have been commanding No. 1 position in Japan for the last 10 years. We are also the No 1. Brand in the Asia Pacific and worldwide we have sold more than 10 Cr ACs. India is a strategic market for our growth in the segment and with such advancements, we are looking at growing our market share by 15% in the next three years.” The company guarantees that the Nanoe technology used in the AC purifies the air and removes 99% of dust, PM2.5, stops virus and bacteria growth. The technology uses ‘nano-sized electrostatic atomized water particles to deodorize and remove the harmful substances’ from the air even when the AC is turned off. The newly launched Panasonic Arch series uses AG clean filter which uses silver ions that have anti-bacterial effect and it also improves the air-quality of the room.

Google Play Protect to start warning users if they install apps aimed at older Android versions only

Last year, Google had imposed new regulations on Google Play Store in order to make Android apps target recent Android versions only. The intention was to establish security measures in new Android apps. For example, restricting background apps and runtime permissions. Runtime feature was incorporated in Android 6.0 Marshmallow (API level 23). New applications were submitted to Google Play from August 2018 aiming at Android 8.0 Oreo or higher. At the same time, there are existing updates submitted after November 2018 that are also aimed at API level 26. As per the new timelines, these apps are required to target Android 9.0 Pie or higher by August 2019. Also, there are updates of the existing apps, which are required to target API level 28 or higher ROM by November 2019. We foresaw these changes considering our knowledge about the advancing API level restrictions on the Google Play Store. Chinese applications such as Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent are going to be persuaded to target applications with newer API levels. Google will tackle other app stores for ensuring the same, too. To give you the timeline of this, new apps will receive warnings and be told to target Android 8.0 Oreo, if not higher by August 2019. In November 2019, new versions of existing apps will get warning to not target API below level 26. From 2020, the target API level requirement will advance annually.
With this move, users will have the latest app versions that will give them a better user experience. The ones who are part of Android 8.1 Oreo programme or higher, will eventually get advanced versions of apps and the apps for older Android versions are going to become extinct. Google can only restrict apps from targeting older Android versions, which are exclusively part of its own platform. However, the ones which are part of other platforms, Google cannot compulsorily curb them. In case you want to download them, Google will give you a warning about it being obsolete. However, if you want to download them, you can ignore the warning and go ahead.
