Once the Wi-Fi router is placed in your home or workplace it is rarely looked after again until you need to reset it. Now the question arises is it ok to leave the router switched on all the time? The answer is yes you can. Routers are designed that way so that you can keep them switched on all the time. Although resetting it once in a while can prevent internet connectivity issues. This is a much-debated topic that it’s not safe to keep Wi-Fi switched on all the time. Although here are some facts you should consider paying attention to on why you should keep your Router off at night.
In This Article
1.Conserve Energy
Prices of electricity have experienced a massive hike in some parts of the Country. Usually, at night most people don’t use the internet, yet the Wi-Fi router is kept on. In use or not, routers still consume energy to stay switched on all the time. Usually, companies set up their routers to go on standby to conserve electricity but it differs from company to company. Although, don’t expect a large slash of bills on your electricity. But consider them lower as compared to keeping Wi-Fi on at night.
2.Security
Most of your smart devices are connected to your Wi-Fi. All the personal information and data passes through your router. At night most of the people are unaware and fast asleep. For hackers, it’s the best time to get through your Wi-Fi easily. At night people’s security is vulnerable and compromised. It’s always advised to keep a strong password for your Wi-Fi connection. A desperate and skilled hacker will wait for the night and hack into your system. Switching off the router at night just reduces the vulnerability of your systems and devices from getting hacked.
Routers heat up because of all the data sending and transmitting they do. Especially the older routers heat up a lot if left switched on for longer periods of time. Excessive heat can result in slower internet speeds and loss of connection. Overheating may also occur because of problems in the router, due to which the device is struggling to transmit. Periodically shutting off your router will prevent overheating of the device for a short span of time.
4.Surge Protection
Surge protection is another reason for shutting your router down at night. Electric surges can cause devices to short circuit, which can also further result in hazards like fire. If the device is switched off it automatically becomes safe from any surges. Electric storms can also cause damage to your device if they are regularly plugged in. Yes, they can happen in the middle of the day as well but at night most of the places are vulnerable as users are sleeping. If it’s an absolute necessity to get your router plugged in all the time. It’s better to buy a surge protector and plug the router through it.
These are a few of the points which we feel could be some good reasons to plug your Wi-Fi router out at night. Also, few scientists have also proposed that the radiation emitted by Wi-Fi routers can be very harmful and can affect your sleep as well. So, it is best to turn it off when you are about to hit the bed for a good night’s sleep.
Fantasy football is, without a doubt, the ultimate companion to the football season. Fans can create their own team and then draft in the best players possible to fill their roster.
Those selections then earn points for the team based on the real-life performances of the players chosen in the NFL. Usually, you enter your team in a league (or several) and the fantasy team with the most points at the end of the season wins the league.
Fantasy football is now a worldwide phenomenon, the basis of which has even been picked up by other sports like baseball, soccer and cricket.
However, it had fairly humble beginnings. The idea behind fantasy football came from a group of businessmen and NFL officials in 1962, and the initial league included six ‘managers’ who would track all the latest results and updates using newspaper reports and television broadcasts.
Fantasy football then began to spread across the US during the 1980s through word of mouth and the development of more leagues and honing of the rules. By the mid-80s, national fantasy football leagues were available.
Since then, the game has only continued to grow at an exponential rate and, in 2010, the NFL itself decided to get involved by developing its own fantasy football platform.
Now, fantasy football is available not just online but on a wide variety of different platforms and devices. Obviously, one of the most established is on a computer or laptop.
Here, you simply visit the website of the supplier you are using. For example, if you’re playing fantasy football with DraftKings, you would just head to the fantasy section of their website and sign up.
Then, each time you want to check on your team or make changes, you just visit the same section of the website and log in. It’s a handy way of keeping on top of your team while at home, or even at work (just try not to let your boss see!).
Of course, an even more convenient way of playing fantasy football is on your smartphone. Now, major suppliers of fantasy competitions offer their own app for you to use right on your phone, making it very easy to dip in and out wherever you are.
The apps offer all the functionality of the website but with a smoother experience and everything is all in one place. You can sign up, create a team and join leagues from the app. You can then also make changes to your lineup, make trades and monitor stats.
These apps are also available on tablets and other devices like Chromebooks that have a suitable operating system.
Outside of the apps that allow you to play fantasy football directly, there are other ones that help you get the most out of your experience and your roster. For example, the Fantasy Football Draft Wizard assists you in plotting and executing a successful draft strategy.
After all, draft day is arguably the most important day of the fantasy football season and this wizard helps identify which players you should be aiming for and helps you plan for various different eventualities.
So, how should you go about becoming a championship-calibre manager in your fantasy football league? Well, the first step is to find a reputable and secure supplier to play with, whether that’s the NFL’s official platform or elsewhere.
Once you’ve joined a league, you’ll need to prepare for draft day. Do your research into players, positions and potential outcomes for the season and always have backups – a player can only go to one team in a fantasy league, so don’t pin all your hopes on one guy!
When your roster is full, you then need to keep on top of all the latest news and results to make sure you’re maximising the potential of your lineup; you don’t want to have selected a starting quarterback who, in real life, has just been sidelined for two months because of an injury.
You obviously won’t be able to watch every single game that’s played, so, instead, it’s a good idea to keep track of results and news on sports sites and channels. There are also several sites dedicated to keeping fantasy managers up to date on players and teams.
Most leagues will also allow trades, so you can swap out players from your team with those from another manager. This can be particularly useful when there are tough fixtures coming up for one or more of your players and you want to trade them for some who are more likely to earn points for your team.
Fantasy football has grown from a small game played by a select few in backroom lounges and hotel rooms to a global juggernaut that can be accessed from the phone in your hand. Whether you play on your computer or a phone/tablet, there’s a wide variety of ways you can create and mould your dream roster.

Cryptocurrencies are a booming hot topic nowadays. People are investing a lot of money to get a good return and mine a fortune for themselves. With the rise of the new mode of income, even scammers are taking advantage of this wave. People lose a lot of money due to these fake mining applications. Here is a guide on how to identify if a crypto mining application is fake.
In This Article
Don’t use third-party applications
Google Play Store and Apple App store have few security standards that applications have to pass to get listed. Few of the third party applications may seem very useful and fancy but it’s not the same case with every application. They might be secretly taking all your information. Also, check for crashes and hanging of the application. If there are frequent crashes and it gets reset there might be something fishy and the application needs to be uninstalled as soon as possible.
Check For the Permission required
Users get really lazy while checking the permission. In a hurry, everyone just taps on to allow for all the permission asked by the application. This actually results in dangerous outcomes. There might be a ton of personal data that you might be giving away legally. Check for the suspicious permissions an application is asking for. For example, a crypto application should not need your camera or bank detail permissions. Also, check for applications that wake up automatically in the background, It’s a big red flag in such cases.
It’s very important to do a background check. If the developer is not very reputed there might be a possibility that the person is a scammer. On the well reputed applications, all the information of the developers are mentioned with full details. Even if the developer is reputed, still check the terms and conditions of the application. It has also happened often that we bear some loss and we absolutely cannot do anything about it, as the user clicked I agree on terms and conditions without reading it carefully.
Read Reviews
Other users who had bad experiences regarding the application often leave a bad review. The review system generally helps other users to know if the application is genuine and what problems others faced. Also, check if the developer is responding to the queries in the review section or not. Usually, the applications whose reviews are bad are either fake applications or are suspected to carry viruses or grab hold of your data.
These easy checks will not only keep you safe from fake crypto mining applications but also all types of suspicious applications. We also advise that before investing one should always have proper knowledge of the place they are investing. Following these checks will save your data and also your hard earned money.

Apple iPhone 13 is speculated to launch in the third week of September. The Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives’ investors note has predicted the timeline. But as we are inching closer to the expected timeline the leaks and rumours about the upcoming Apple models have started pouring in. Gadget Bridge has got hold of some exclusive renders of the handset, which will give you a fair idea about how the iPhone 13 will look like.
We don’t guarantee but that’s how the iPhone 13 models are going to look like (99%). Based on the leaks and rumours we have tried to create some renders of the most expected design of what the next-gen phones may bring.
However, there are no major design changes, but looking at the iPhone 13 renders you will notice the biggest change is in the camera department. This time the cameras are going diagonal. The existing iPhone 12 features vertically aligned lenses. But with the new one, the camera lenses have been moved to a diagonal design. The lenses are notably larger which should make for brighter images.
Also, the square-shaped camera module will be more protruding on the back of the iPhone. It is suggested to be 2.51mm in thickness compared to the 1.5mm thickness of the predecessor. The stainless steel frame will be more resistant to fingerprints.
Coming to the front the iPhone 13 renders suggest a smaller notch on the display this time. It is likely to be 30 percent smaller in size compared to the iPhone 12. Whereas the earpiece from the notch is likely to be shifted to the bezel of the handset that will provide more screen space. The bezels of the phone will be smaller too, so the screen’s edge to edge ratio over its body will be better.
We can also expect more colour options this time. Last time, we saw the more subtle colour options on the iPhone 12, but this time the company may offer more colour options.t Apple will probably bring the bubble gum pink and mustard shade as its latest addition to the lineup.
The devices may also come with increased battery capacities and wider 5G support over the iPhone 12 models. The iPhone 13 series coils include a new flexible charging circuit board that would include a System-in-Package (SiP) to make some space for a larger battery pack. The upcoming handsets are also stated to equip a next-generation SoC based on a 5nm+ node. This will improve the phone’s performance as well as its battery. The new iPhones will also offer a wider 5G connectivity using millimeter wave (mmWave).
The Apple iPhone 13 could also see some camera enhancements. There will be three major video-recording features, there will be a video version of the Portrait mode. It will come with the ability to record video in a higher-quality format called ProRes. In addition to this, it will bring a new filter-like system that will improve the look and colours of photos.
Beyond this, the models will retain the same 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch regular sizes and 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Pro screens. This is all the new information we have about the upcoming iPhone 13. Stay tuned to Gadget Bridge for all the latest information about the upcoming devices.

Redmi Note 10S was launched just two months after its predecessor – Redmi Note 10 – in India. Naturally, too many changes weren’t on the cards, but the company did beef up the processor, RAM and the primary camera, and the device is still a budget smartphone at a starting price of Rs 14,999. We spent a good two weeks with it and here’s our Redmi Note 10S review detailing its pros and cons.
In This Article
Redmi Note 10S review: Design and display
In terms of the design, the Redmi Note 10S is exactly the same as Redmi Note 10. The company has only added a new Deep Sea Blue colour option for Redmi Note 10S, which comes with a gradient finish on the back panel. Other than this, the device is also available in the Black and White colour variants of Redmi Note 10, except that the company has renamed them as Pebble White and Onyx Black for the Redmi Note 10S.
The handset’s polycarbonate back panel is silver on the top and blue towards the bottom and it houses the camera module that has four sensors and an LED flash. The Redmi branding is also present on the back and it’s written in landscape. The Power and Volume Rocker keys are on the right edge while the SIM tray is on the left. The power button also has the fingerprint sensor embedded in it. The smartphone has speakers on both top and bottom edges. While the USB Type-C port, the microphone and the 3.5mm headphone jack are at the bottom edge, the IR emitter and the secondary microphone are at the top.
Flip over and you will see the 6.43-inch display of the device that is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is outlined with thin bezels. Like every other phone, the chin at the bottom of the screen is obviously thicker.
The smartphone is curved along its sides, which along with the apt placement of buttons makes one-handed usage on the device easier. Besides this, Redmi Note 10S also comes with IP53 rating that offers dust and water resistance, and this is a big plus considering the price range of the handset.
Coming to the 6.43-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display of Redmi Note 10S, we quite liked its performance. The screen is bright and it projects vibrant colours which remain consistent at different viewing angles. The sunlight readability is average, but one can still figure out the text on the display. The images appear to be sharp and clear on the handset’s screen. We watched a number of YouTube videos and shows during our time with the smartphone, and our experience was always good.
In a nutshell, we like the design and display of Redmi Note 10S smartphone, even though the device retains most of the features of its predecessor as far as the design goes. It definitely is repetitive, but there aren’t any major downsides to the device’s display and design.
Redmi Note 10S review: Performance and cameras
Before we begin talking about the performance of the smartphone, let’s take a minute to discuss the rest of its specifications. Redmi Note 10S is powered by MediaTek Helio G95 processor clubbed with 6GB of RAM and comes with up to 128GB of internal storage. The device houses a 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. Redmi Note 10S runs Android 11 skinned with MIUI 12.5. For imaging duties, there is a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. There is also a 13MP on the front panel of the device for selfies and video calls.
The MIUI 12.5 does offer some customizations on the device, but it comes with a fair share of bloatware too. There are a number of pre-installed apps on the smartphone, but the upside is that most of them can be uninstalled. However, this does not include the company’s native apps or GetApps, which sends out an alarming number of notifications. There were times when we even saw promotional content on the wallpaper of the device.
Coming to the performance, Redmi Note 10S left us impressed with most tasks that we threw at it. We often multitasked on the device and used it simultaneously for navigation and listening to music, and it did not stutter even once. We even watched back to back episodes of a Netflix show, and our experience was great. Not only were the visuals appealing because of the good display, the speakers of the device enhanced the experience with great audio quality.
We even used the smartphone for gaming and played a number of games like Temple Run 2, Alto’s Odyssey and Asphalt 9: Legends, and they all ran smoothly. The device did start getting warm after 10-15 minutes of gameplay though, and obviously, the battery levels fell quicker too while gaming. But the latter is hardly anything to complain about.
The fingerprint sensor of Redmi Note 10S did a quick job and unlocked each time we placed our finger on it, even when it was moist. The battery life of the device is also among one of its pros. Even with heavy usage that involved gaming, watching Netflix or using Google Maps, we could use the smartphone for a day and a half on a single charge. We are guessing that if your usage does not involve these too much, you would definitely be able to get more out of the device.
The call quality of the smartphone was flawless too and we had no problem receiving or making calls even from areas like basements and elevators.
Finally, let’s talk about the cameras of the smartphone. As we mentioned earlier, Redmi Note 10S comes with a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a macro camera and a depth sensor with 2MP lenses each. There is also a 13MP selfie camera on the device.
The camera performance of Redmi Note 10S could be a lot better and more consistent. In day light, the camera managed to click decent images but the objects in the pictures looked a bit too sharp. It was a consistent problem and it affected the quality of the image. The shots that we took indoors in well-lit conditions turned out to be much better than the outdoor ones, which is strange since it’s usually the opposite with most phones. The ultra-wide-angle sensor allows a lot more area in the image but the quality visibly drops.
The Portrait shots on the smartphone turned out to be good, and we liked the fact that we could adjust the level of blur we wanted before clicked the image. Macro shots turned out to be good too.
However, it was the low-light photography that was not up to the mark, because some images that we clicked at night had noise. The quality does go up a little with the Night mode enabled, of course.
The selfies taken from the 13MP front camera turned out to be good and the performance of the camera remained consistent in well-lit as well as dimly-lit conditions. It was one aspect of the camera that we actually liked a lot.
Pros
Beautiful design
Lasting battery
Smooth performance
Cons
Bloatware and promotional content
Average performance of cameras
Verdict
The Redmi Note 10S comes with a more powerful processor, a beefed-up RAM and a better primary camera than its predecessor Redmi Note 10. The new smartphone retains the rest of the features of a device which was anyway a good deal. We’ll get to the point: Even though a lot of features of the two phones are the same, so some may feel that Redmi Note 10S is not much of an update, it still offers a great deal of good specifications at a budget price. Plus, most aspects of the performance of the smartphone are bound to impress you. It has a lot of pros including the lasting battery, the vibrant display, the stereo speakers that have an amazing audio output and the ability to perform multiple tasks with ease. So it definitely is the right buy for most people who are looking for a good budget smartphone.
