During this offer period that will end on November 14, Samsung’s, consumers will also get Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphone Galaxy Fold when purchasing the 85-inch (216 cm), 82-inch (207 cm) and 75-inch (189 cm) models of Samsung QLED 8K TVs. However, consumers will get a Galaxy A31 smartphone on purchasing the 65-inch QLED 8K TV models. Isn’t that an interesting offer?
During the earlier ‘The 8K Festival’, Samsung registered an 8 times increase in sales of QLED 8K TVs. The latest edition of The 8K Festival will provide special offers on QLED 8K TVs that will be available at all leading consumer electronics retailers across India.
As far as discount is concerned, consumers will be able to avail discounts across the QLED 8K range during The 8K Festival. The discount is starting with Rs 130,000 to Rs 180,000 on 65-inch models, Rs 350,000 on 75-inch models and Rs 500,000 to Rs 630,000 on 85 -inch and 82-inch models. In addition to this, consumers can get cashback of up to Rs 20,000 with easy EMI options starting from as low as Rs 1,990 along with a 3-year warranty (1+2 Year extended warranty) on panels.
While introducing the cutting-edge QLED 8K lineup at CES 2020 in Las Vegas held earlier this year, Joe Stinziano, Head of Consumer Electronics Business at Samsung Electronics America, said, “2020 will be a tipping point for our industry, the year when 8K broke into the mainstream as the definitive viewing experience. Motorola launched Moto G9 Power with a 6,000mAh battery
Lenovo owned smartphone company, Motorola, has introduced a new addition to its Moto G9 family. After introducing Moto G9, Moto G9 Plus, and Moto G9 Play, Moto G9 Power is the latest addition. This smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC and for longer battery life it equips a 6,000mAh battery. In addition to this, there is a 64-megapixel triple camera setup on the back of the phone and a hole-punch display. The device has slim bezels but a noticeable chin. Moto G9 Power features a 6.8-inch HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 720×1,640 pixels. The smartphone runs on the stock Android 10 operating system. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC paired with 4GB RAM with 128GB of storage option. The internal storage can be expanded up to 512 GB with the use of a microSD card.
In terms of imaging, Moto G9 Power carries a triple camera set up on the back of the phone that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.79. Apple fans can now pre-order iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 mini and HomePod mini on apple.com and through Apple Authorised Resellers. These iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 mini will be available in stores and arriving to customers on November 13, and HomePod mini will be available November 16. The cost of Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB models in graphite, silver, gold, and pacific blue for Rs 129,900. Moto G 5G powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC launched
Motorola is back with another new 5G smartphone in the market. The company has introduced its new 5G phone Moto G 5G, globally. The device has been launched in the European market first and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC. Moreover, it has a 5,000mAh battery and also features a hole-punch design display that houses a selfie camera and a triple camera set up at the back. With the launch of the smartphone, the company aims to take on OnePlus Nord N10 5G.

In terms of specifications, the Moto G 5G comes with a 6.7-inch full-HD+ LTPS display. It offers 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution and 394ppi pixel density. The 5G phone runs on Android 10 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor coupled with 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage. The internal storage can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.
For photos and videos, Moto G 5G features a triple rear camera set up that includes a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture. In addition to this, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 118-degree field of view and a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. LG Electronics has launched its revolutionary wearable personal air solution called LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier. This much-anticipated device was showcased at IFA 2020. Starting this month, LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier, which utilizes two H13 HEPA filters, will be available in key regions including Asia and the Middle East, among others.
The two H13 HEPA filters found on LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier are similar to the ones found in the company’s residential air purifiers. The company claims that this device prevents up to 99.95 percent of harmful airborne matter such as viruses, bacteria and common allergens from entering the respiratory system. This is made possible through DUAL Fans and a patented Respiratory Sensor which allows users to effortlessly breathe pure, filtered air in almost any environment. The sensor detects the cycle and volume of the wearer’s breathing and automatically adjusts the three-speed DUAL Fans accordingly, speeding up when inhaling and slowing down to reduce resistance when exhaling.

GoPro HERO9 Black launched in India for Rs 49,500
GoPro has now launched its HERO9 Black in India at a price point of Rs 49,500. The HERO9 Black will be available in India with an MSRP of Rs 49,500 at retail partners – Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm, Reliance, Croma and select imaging stores. The HERO9 Black features a new 23.6-megapixel sensor that delivers 5K video and 20-megapixel photos, next-generation HyperSmooth 3.0 video stabilization with in-camera horizon leveling, a new front-facing display, a larger rear display, and 30 percent more battery life.
Furthermore, GoPro also shared that it has stopped using plastic for packaging of the HERO9 Black and added value by packaging the camera in a high-quality travel case that fits additional mounts and accessories. HERO9 Black joins GoPro MAX, HERO8 Black and HERO7 Black to round out the full 2020 GoPro Lineup.

WhatsApp Pay gets a stamp of approval by the National Payments Corporation of India, can be rolled out in a graded manner
WhatsApp Pay in India has been in the anticipation of approval for a very long time. The digital payments feature by the social media platform should have been introduced in the country much sooner. But it had to go through a delay due to some false messages doing the rounds on the platform. Those led to mob lynching and more government inspection was needed as suggested by some reports.
In the due course of time, the Facebook-owned messaging giant was also trying to act in accordance with the Indian regulations with data storage norms that would require all payments-related data to be stored locally. Now it has received approval by the regulatory NPCI and it can now go ahead with the rollout of its service in India but in a graded manner.
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has given approval for WhatsApp to ‘Go Live’ on UPI in the multi-bank model. As per the announcement, the social media platform can now expand its UPI user base in a graded manner starting with a maximum registered user base of twenty (20) million in UPI.
We should add here that millions of users in the country have been distributed among Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe and other digital payment services but only WhatsApp has more than 400 million user bases in India itself and this would definitely make a strong dent on the payments ecosystem.
WhatsApp Pay would pose as a big competitor to Paytm, which is one of the most used and popular digital payment apps in India.
Apart from this considering the recent growth in UPI transaction volumes, NPCI has analyzed the risks in the UPI ecosystem. To address the risks and protect the UPI ecosystem the regulatory has now announced to impose 30% on the total volume of UPI transactions processed by Third Party App (TPA) providers that will come into effect from January 2021. This decision will mostly affect Google Pay and PhonePe as they are said to be dominating the UPI ecosystem. As per a report these two companies have around 40 percent of the number of transactions each. In addition to this existing TPAPs (i.e. TPAPs that are live as on the date of this circular), who are exceeding the cap will have a period of two years from the aforesaid date to comply with the same in a phased manner.

Nikon rolls out Official Webcam Utility Software for its mirroless and DSLR cameras
Nikon India Private Ltd has now lifted curtains off the official version of Webcam Utility software that enables both mirrorless and DSLR Nikon cameras to function as high-quality cameras for livestreaming or web video conferences with the best video output.
According Nikon, “The effort is made simple with just the connection of a USB cable between the compatible camera and the computer. Together with the variety of available NIKKOR Z mount and F mount lenses, users will also enjoy the flexibility in choosing a preferred image angle while taking advantage of the lenses’ best-in-class sharpness and natural bokeh.”
The official version of Webcam Utility software is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit) and macOS versions 10.13, 10.14, 10.15. Besides this, it is also compatible with the Z 7II, Z 7, Z 6II, Z 6, Z 5, Z 50, D6, D5, D850, D810, D780, D750, D500, D7500, D7200, D5600, D5500, D5300, D3500 cameras.
Mind you! Webcam Utility lets a Nikon camera be used as a webcam when connected to a computer via USB. However, it is not compatible with applications that lack support for virtual cameras.
- Create a folder on the hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download S-NWU___-010000MF-ALLIN-ALL___.dmg to the folder created in Step 1.
- Run S-NWU___-010000MF-ALLIN-ALL___.dmg to launch the installer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
- Connect the camera and computer using a USB cable
- Turn the camera on
- Launch the web conferencing app and select “Webcam Utility” as the external camera
- Confirm that the image from the camera is displayed in the web conferencing app
- Select Settings > System
- Select Apps & features
- Select “Webcam Utility” in the list and choose Uninstall to launch the uninstaller
Oppo F17 review: For the youthful you
The year 2020 has been one of the best years for mid-range smartphones. Another great entrant in the mid-segment price range is by Oppo. It is a called Oppo F17, which is the younger sibling of Oppo F17 Pro. We spent some time with the smartphone to find if it has any chinks in the armour. Here is our review of the Oppo F17.
The right side of the Oppo F17 has a power button, while the volume keys can be found on the left side along with a triple-slot tray to accommodate 2 micro-SIMS plus 1 microSD memory card. A 3.5mm audio port, primary microphone, USB Type-C charging jack and a speaker grill can be found at the bottom. A secondary microphone is placed on the top that catches your voice better when you are talking to someone over the speakerphone. We have to mention that we were quite amazed that Oppo managed to incorporate a headphones jack when the phone is just 7.45mm slim. Good job oppo, good job.
Coming to the front of Oppo F17, it features a 6.44-inch AMOLED display that has a waterdrop notch (with the selfie camera) on top and a rather large chin area. Something which we used to see in a year to two years old devices. Nonetheless, this is not a deal-breaker, as the display is superb. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The brightness is great and everything is legible even under direct sunlight. Text is crisp and screen icons look very vivid. The refresh rate of the screen is 60Hz but works like 90Hz. Scrolling experience is smooth and less laggy. This becomes better since the phone supports 135Hz sampling rate as default and 180Hz sampling rate when gaming.
Talking about which, we loved the gaming experience on the smartphone. Though most games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends work better at mid settings and not high because of mid-range GPU in it, the experience was still good. The colours pop out when gaming and is mostly very enjoyable. Same is the case with movie and videos streaming experience. The blacks are deep and colours are vivid. Sound on the other hand could have been better. In case you want better sound, you can always use the headphones that are supplied in the box. Overall, we quite liked the display of the Oppo F17.
On the other side, the selfie camera is nice too. 16MP Sony IMX 471 sensor does a good job in capturing good detail. Colours are also lifelike, but edge sharpness was an issue in some cases.
Moving on to the battery life, Oppo F17 has a 4015mAh battery that supports 30W Vooc flash charge. The fast charger comes in the box, with which users can get 4 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charge on this smartphone. Overall, the battery lasted us a full day with mixed use of an hour of gaming, another hour of music and then regular daily stuff like WhatsApp etc on 4G network.
As for the operating system, Colour OS 7.2 on Android 10 comes out of the box. There is no word on the Android 11 upgrade as yet, but the device should get an update next year. The OS has got a lot of improvements and now features an App drawer too. Icons look great, but the Oppo F17 does come with some amount of bloatware, luckily all of it can be uninstalled easily.

Design and Display
This smartphone screams for attention right out of the box. As soon as we unboxed it, we fell in love with its modern looks, slimness and the uber-cool orange back panel with subtle gold metal frame. The back panel, though made up of plastic, has a very leather-like feel to it. We have not seen anything like it before. Also, on the back panel of the Oppo F17 users get 4 cameras in a square camera bump with chrome accents on the edges. This is partnered with a rather large LED flash, more about that in the performance section.
The right side of the Oppo F17 has a power button, while the volume keys can be found on the left side along with a triple-slot tray to accommodate 2 micro-SIMS plus 1 microSD memory card. A 3.5mm audio port, primary microphone, USB Type-C charging jack and a speaker grill can be found at the bottom. Something which we used to see in a year to two years old devices. Nonetheless, this is not a deal-breaker, as the display is superb. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The brightness is great and everything is legible even under direct sunlight. Text is crisp and screen icons look very vivid. The refresh rate of the screen is 60Hz but works like 90Hz. Scrolling experience is smooth and less laggy. This becomes better since the phone supports 135Hz sampling rate as default and 180Hz sampling rate when gaming.
Talking about which, we loved the gaming experience on the smartphone. Though most games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends work better at mid settings and not high because of mid-range GPU in it, the experience was still good. The colours pop out when gaming and is mostly very enjoyable. Same is the case with movie and videos streaming experience. The blacks are deep and colours are vivid. Sound on the other hand could have been better. In case you want better sound, you can always use the headphones that are supplied in the box. Overall, we quite liked the display of the Oppo F17.
Oppo F17 Performance and Camera
Under the hood, Oppo F17 comes with a Snapdragon 662 CPU, Adreno 610 GPU, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Another version is available with 8GB RAM, but today we are reviewing the 6GB version, which does most jobs well. It can handle multiple tabs as well as multiple apps nicely (at the same time). It does get a bit warm when you game on it continuously, but not so much that it will burn your hand. For security, the smartphone also has an in-display fingerprint sensor that works accurately nine out of ten times. The rear cameras array on the Oppo F17 includes as 16MP wide-angle (with EIS), 8MP ultra-wide angle, 2MP depth sensor and another 2MP depth sensor. Together they make up for one of the best camera arrays in this side of Rs 20,000. We got some superb shots in the day as well as night. The colours were accurate during the day and in the night mode, though it took some time to click the picture, it was one of the best shots we saw in this price bracket. Wide-angle shots were great too, however, the edges were slightly blurry in some shots. Portraits on the other hand are this smartphones speciality, especially during the day or in bright light. At night, we do suggest keeping the flash on.
On the other side, the selfie camera is nice too. 16MP Sony IMX 471 sensor does a good job in capturing good detail. Colours are also lifelike, but edge sharpness was an issue in some cases.
Moving on to the battery life, Oppo F17 has a 4015mAh battery that supports 30W Vooc flash charge. The fast charger comes in the box, with which users can get 4 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charge on this smartphone. Overall, the battery lasted us a full day with mixed use of an hour of gaming, another hour of music and then regular daily stuff like WhatsApp etc on 4G network.
As for the operating system, Colour OS 7.2 on Android 10 comes out of the box. There is no word on the Android 11 upgrade as yet, but the device should get an update next year. The OS has got a lot of improvements and now features an App drawer too. Icons look great, but the Oppo F17 does come with some amount of bloatware, luckily all of it can be uninstalled easily.
Verdict
All in all, at Rs 16,990 for the 6GB variant and 2K more for the 8GB variant, Oppo has done a very good job with the F17. It is spunky, youthful and does grab your attention. Yes, it does have a few chinks in the armour, but nothing that will make you flinch away. If you are looking for a good pair of cameras, excellent design, and a lasting battery, then Oppo F17 might just prove to be a good buy for you.Pros

There have been rumours doing the round on the web that Samsung seems to be expanding its line-up of foldable phones in the coming future. The South Korean company has introduced Samsung W21 5G as its next foldable phone. However, this variant has been launched in China as is very much identical to Galaxy Z Fold 2 but with few differences with regard to the design. The pre-orders of Samsung W21 5G have already begun in China. The second pre-orders will start on November 11. As of now, there are no details on the international availability of the new device.

Often reading old messages on WhatsApp, brings a smile on our faces. Now, the Facebook-owned instant messaging app has introduced the option to use disappearing messages to make conversations feel as close to in-person as possible that means they shouldn’t have to stick around forever.
According to WhatsApp, “When disappearing messages is turned on, new messages sent to a chat will disappear after 7 days, helping the conversation feel lighter and more private. In a one-to-one chat, either person can turn disappearing messages on or off. In groups, admins will have the control.”
Initially, WhatsApp is starting with 7 days because it believes that it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent, while remaining practical so that one doesn’t forget what they were chatting about. The shopping list or store address that one receives a few days ago will be there while they need it, and then disappear after they don’t need it anymore.
One can send messages that disappear on WhatsApp by enabling disappearing messages. As per a latest blog, “Once enabled, new messages sent in the individual or group chat will disappear after seven days. The most recent selection controls all messages in the chat. This setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat. In an individual chat, either user can turn disappearing messages on or off. In a group chat, only group admins can turn disappearing messages on or off.”
However, if a user doesn’t open WhatsApp in the seven day period, the message will disappear. However, the preview of the message might still be displayed in notifications until the Facebook-owned instant messaging app is opened. When you reply to a message, the initial message is quoted. If one replies to a disappearing message, the quoted text might remain in the chat after seven days. And if a disappearing message is forwarded to a chat with disappearing messages off, the message won’t disappear in the forwarded chat.
If a user creates a backup before a message disappears, the disappearing message will be included in the backup. Disappearing messages will be deleted when a user restores from a backup. Furthermore, the media the one receives in WhatsApp will be automatically downloaded to your photos. If disappearing messages are turned on, media sent in the chat will disappear. However, it will be saved on the phone if auto-download is on. You can turn auto-download off in WhatsApp Settings > Data and Storage Usage.

The Chinese smartphone company Vivo has announced the launch of its new smartphone in the market. The company has introduced Vivo S7e as the company’s new 5G phone of which only design and specifications have been revealed. The pricing will be revealed at a later date. The device features a triple rear camera set up that supports up to 10x digital zoom and a 4,100mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The handset is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC.
The company has introduced it in a single configuration of 8GB RAM with128GB storage. As said, the pricing of the device is yet to be revealed by the company. As per Vivo, it will be announcing it on Single’s Day in China, which is observed on November 11. The phone will be offered in three distinct colours Mirror Black, Phantom Blue, and Silver Moon. As of now, the company has begun taking reservations of interest on its official website.

Speaking of the specifications, Vivo VS7e will come with a 6.44-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution. It will be offering 408ppi pixel density with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. The mobile phone runs Funtouch OS 10.5 based on the top of the Android 10 operating system. Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD card.
In terms of photos and videos, Vivo VS7e will be featuring a triple camera setup in its back consisting of a 64-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.89 aperture. In addition to this, there is an 8-megapixel super-wide-angle macro lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel pixel blur sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera setup supports 10x digital zoom and night scene mode among others. On the front, there is a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
Coming to the connectivity, the phone provides 5G SA/ NSA, Bluetooth v5, a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port for charging. Additionally, the phone also supports the in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock for biometrics. The Vivo S7e 5G houses a 4,100mAh battery that comes with 33W fast charging support.

Transsion group holdings group is back with another new smartphone in the Indian market under its brand Infinix. The company has introduced Infinix Smart 4 as its new budget offering. The key highlights of the smartphone include a quad-core processor and it runs Android 10 (Go Edition). In addition to this, it has a waterdrop display and a dual rear camera setup. Infinix Smart 4 will be available in a single 2GB RAM with 32GB internal storage priced at Rs 6,999. The new handset will be offered in four distinct shades Midnight Black, Ocean Wave, Quetzal Cyan, and Violet.
The device is scheduled to go on sale in the country via e-commerce website Flipkart starting November 8 from 12 noon onwards. To recall a few months back the company launched Infinix Smart 4 Plus that is priced at Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM with a 32GB storage model.

Infinix Smart 4 comes with a 6.82-inch HD+ Incell IPS display with 1,640×720 pixels of the resolution also offering and 20.5:9 aspect ratio. The mobile phone runs XOS 6.2 Dolphin interface on top of Android 10 (Go edition). Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor paired with 2GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage. The memory can be expanded using a microSD card.
In terms of imaging, the Infinix Smart 4 comes with a dual-camera setup on the back of the phone that houses a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a depth sensor. The camera set up includes modes such as Auto Scene Detection, Custom Bokeh, AI HDR, AI 3D Beauty, Panorama, AR Animoji, and AI 3D Body Shaping and more. While on the front the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The selfie camera has image-enhancing features such as AI Portrait, AI 3D Face Beauty, Wide Selfie, and AR Animoji.

Realme Watch S has officially made its debut globally. The new smartwatch features 16 sports modes heart-rate and blood oxygen monitors and offers 15-day battery life. The smart wearable has a circular dial and comes with multiple watch faces and strap colours. The Chinese smartphone company Realme is gearing up to launch its new smartphone series in India. Soon Realme X7 and Realme X7 Pro are going to arrive in the Indian market. However, the company has not made any official announcement but one of the devices from the series has bagged BIS certification hinting at the launch. To recall both the device has already made its debut in its home market that is China and will now make its way to the Indian market. Both the devices have 5G support and come with superfast charging tech along with a 120Hz high refresh rate.
According to tipster Mukul Sharma Realme X7 is expected to launch next month which is in December in India. Realme X7 Pro has received BIS certification with model number RMX2121 indicating at the launch.

Realme X7 has already been launched in the Chinese market so we are already aware of the specs. The device features a 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution, a 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. It runs Realme UI built on Android 10 and is powered by octa-core Dimensity 800U SoC paired with Mali-G57 GPU. The phone houses a quad rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Additionally, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.3 aperture, a 2-megapixel black and white portrait sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.5 aperture. Moreover, it has a 4,300mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.

The Realme X7 Pro is very much identical to its sibling however it has a larger 6.55-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display includes up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Dimensity 1000+ SoC with 9-core Mali-G77 GPU. For pictures, the device has a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.25 aperture, a 2-megapixel black and white portrait sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. While on the front there is a 32-megapixel sensor with an f/2.45 aperture. In addition to this, the smartphone packs a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.

Speaking of the pricing, it is expected to be similar to the Chinese variants. The Realme X7 was launched in two different configurations of 6GB RAM/8GB RAM with 128GB of storage priced CNY 1,799 and CNY 2,399 respectively.
Whereas Realme X7 Pro has been introduced in 6GB/8GB RAM with 128GB of storage at CNY 2,199 and CNY 2,499 and 8GB with 256GB variant at CNY 3,199.

Microsoft has joined hands with Eros Now, which is a global entertainment company, to deliver cloud-enabled content to customers in low internet geographies of India. According to the tech giant, “This pilot leveraged Microsoft Azure, a technology from Microsoft Research, content from Eros Now, and commerce capabilities from Novopay, a digital transaction partner and the commerce engine.” It can also help OTT provider’s stream media channels while ensuring end-to-end device connectivity, central content management, and security.
“We’re committed to bringing together cloud technology, industry expertise, and partners to help our media and entertainment customers innovate and grow. By helping customers in low bandwidth locations across India access the content of their choice, we can expand retail distribution opportunities, help media partners connect with more customers, and help customers connect with stories and content they love,” said Ravi Krishnaswamy, Corporate Vice President – Azure Global Industry.
Since last 10 years, media consumption has changed dramatically. Given that businesses need to grow subscribers and the vast audiences waiting to be connected in low bandwidth communities, Microsoft is testing new technology to bridge that digital divide.
In this pilot, Eros Now uploaded content to a central content repository that is built on Microsoft Azure as it can quickly process large volumes of data to distribute to hubs. Then, customers can connect to these hubs in order to securely download content to their mobile devices without internet connectivity.
Microsoft further added that consumers in low connectivity regions could access Eros Now’s rich media content and pay for services in modes they prefer by using this system. The month-long pilot program tested the system from cloud to end consumer service. The tech company also added that it will expand the test to additional providers to make sure that the service reaches each and every corner of India.
Emphasizing that differentiation has gone beyond content and technology to provide an edge over others in India’s cluttered online streaming industry, Ali Hussein, CEO, Eros Now, said, “Eros Now’s content catalogue, especially movies and original shows, attract massive regional audience base, and expanding the market by adopting pioneering technological innovation is the key for premium platform’s substantial growth.”
“The association with Microsoft to utilize its cloud-enabled last-mile content delivery enables Eros Now to lead the space by tapping the underserved potential customer base in low bandwidth areas and continue catering to market demands,” added Hussein.

In order to strengthen its gaming strategy as Social mobile gaming is seeing massive growth and adoption in India owing to the COVID-19 panedmic, Flipkart has now acquired Intellectual Property of Mech Mocha-a mobile gaming startup that runs India’s first live-social gaming platform ‘Hello Play’. Apart from this acquisition of the company’s IP, Mech Mocha’s skilled gaming team will also collaborate with Flipkart as the company continues to focus on developing new and innovative formats to engage with users on its platform.
As the Mech Mocha team joins Flipkart, they will focus on scaling Flipkart’s gaming efforts under the leadership of Prakash Sikaria, Vice-President at Flipkart.
Emphasising that Flipkart focuses on providing consumers with an opportunity to access great products and content, Prakash Sikaria, Vice-President, Flipkart, said, “We see many first-time e-commerce users come online through formats such as video and games, as they build familiarity with the medium. Asserting that the growth of powerful smartphones along with reliable internet is driving mobile gaming in India, Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group, CMR, said, “Mobile gaming in India is driven by an array of gamer personas, ranging from the serious to the hyper-casual gamers. They differ from each other in terms of the time spent, the genres played, the places played at, and most importantly, their outlook to mobile gaming.”
Besides this, the report also notified the shift from freemium to paid-gaming apps in line with the increased time spent on mobile gaming. Interestingly, 15 percent of the gamers moved to paid mobile gaming apps during lockdown. Moreover, three in every five gamers believe that mobile gaming enabled them in overcoming social isolation during the lockdown period.
