Vivo V23 Pro 5G review: Stunning, aesthetically pleasing, and flauntable

Vivo makes several wonderful products that work admirably. It’s not only that its products are reasonably priced, they are performers too. The new Vivo V23 Pro 5G that we evaluated is the most recent model in the Indian market. The phone is the successor of the Vivo V21 Pro, and the most intriguing or eye-catching feature of the phone is its colour shifting capabilities, which make it yet another jewel in the company’s portfolio.  Yes, the colour of this excellent mid-ranger changes in the sunlight.  There is so much to talk about in the Vivo V23 Pro review, so let’s give you all its details below.

Vivo V23 Pro Review: Design and Display

To begin with, the Vivo V23 Pro sports a sophisticated design with curved glass and a slender frame. The Fluorite AG glass pattern on the back is what really distinguishes the design. As said, it may change colour when exposed to sunshine or other UV-ray sources. The sunlight gold variety transitions from a golden to a cyan tint. The phone is also available in more subdued stardust black. Despite the fact that the back is composed of glass, it has a matte feel that does not gather fingerprints or smudges. Vivo V23 Pro Review: Design and Display Vivo V23 Pro Review: Design and Display Vivo’s primary focus has always been on its camera. The camera module at the back is fairly huge, distinguishing it from other devices. On the front, there’s a notch with two selfie cameras. However, while this may appear old to some, it is substantially smaller than what we saw on the iPhone. This midrange is thin and pleasant to carry, and it weighs a startling 171 grams. It should be noted that the phone lacks an IP rating. Vivo V23 Pro Review: Design and DisplayVivo V23 Pro sports a 3D curved screen with a 6.56-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080x 2,376 pixels. It looks fantastic! The panel has a refresh rate of 90Hz, supports HDR10+, and has a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits. The display is shielded with a shot sensation protective glass cover developed in Germany. The side bezels are tiny, and the earpiece is buried between the display and the frame and cannot be seen. Dual spotlight LEDs are also visible on either side of the front notch, at the top left and top right. One may also modify the colour of the light to provide better illumination, allowing the selfie camera to capture more details even in extremely low light circumstances. review of Vivo V23 Pro In terms of display performance, it provides brilliant colour and high brightness levels. However, given this is a premium smartphone, we would have preferred to have 120Hz refresh rate compatibility with up to 360Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, at the price being provided, 120Hz should be standard. The device does, however, support Widevine L1 and has a reasonable viewing angle for HDR watching. As a result, streaming Netflix and Prime Video material on this device is not a problem. Also, the curved edges give it a luxury vibe. review of Vivo V23 Pro Again, the phone lacks stereo speakers, which could have been a major up in the segment. At the very least, we expected Dolby Atmos support, which is also missing. The 3.5mm audio jack is once again absent, although the wired headphones are supplied with it are Type-C connector enables and come in the box. Believe us when we say that the supplied wired earbuds are excellent.

Vivo V23 Pro review: Performance and camera

In terms of hardware and performance, the Vivo V23 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. The chipset supports 5G and has 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. The chipset in the gadget is the same as what we saw on the OnePlus Nord 2. During extended gaming sessions, the phone throttles and warms up quickly. However, because we tested this phone in the winter, you will not have any heating issues in cool environment. However, throughout the summer, you may experience significant heating problems. So the most ardent gamers should search elsewhere. Yet, it may be used for leisure gaming, and Call of Duty can be played at the maximum settings. Vivo V23 Pro review: Performance and camera The phone is buttery smooth and has no delays when used on a daily basis. In terms of software, the Vivo V23 Pro runs Android 12 with FuntouchOS 12 skinned on top, which is a good thing given that most companies are still releasing devices with Android 11. It contains all of the Android 12 features, but because it is a custom skin, you may notice a few tweaks to the widgets and recent applications (it is now shown in a grid kind of style). Aside from that, the gadget is highly optimised and feels smooth. In addition, the phone supports seven 5G bands (n1/n3/n5/n8/n41/n77 and n78). The Vivo V23 Pro 5G’s camera is another major selling point. It sports a triple camera setup with a 108-megapixel sensor with an f/1.88 aperture, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor and an f/2.4 aperture. Because Vivo is all about selfies, there’s a dual-camera arrangement upfront with a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/2.28 aperture. Vivo V23 Pro review: Performance and camera The camera performs admirably in the daytime. The HDR works quite well and is even equivalent to high-end smartphones such as Samsung. The 108-megapixel camera inside allows for detailed photos. It also enables you to shoot in full 108-megapixel quality, though even without it, the photographs are clear and detailed. However, the colours captured by the main sensor are a bit oversaturated. The colour on the ultra-wide photographs is fine, but the main sensor images are too saturated; however, you may disable the scene optimiser to achieve more realistic results.
Vivo V23 Pro review: Performance and camera
Primary/Portrait
When it comes to low-light photography, the camera does not disappoint. There is nearly little noise, and the clarity and brightness are beautifully preserved. Vivo V23 Pro review: Performance and camera In terms of selfie cameras, we believe Vivo has one of the finest. It creates photographs that are clean and crisp, and the HDR is very nice. Vivo has placed two spotlights on either side of the phone to shoot well-lit low-light photographs. As sad, the temperature of the lights may also be adjusted. review of Vivo V23 Pro The back camera can take 4K @60fps footage, and HDR works quite well. There is also an ultra-stable mode, which is smooth and steady. In addition, there is a night mode for videos. We got a good amount of stability for Selfie videos. Also, auto HDR is now available, and it works quite well. The face detection is also fairly good, your face will always be in focus. The coolest thing is that you can capture 4K selfie videos at 60 frames per second. So the business created the phone’s camera with today’s user requirements in mind, and especially if you’re into producing reels or stuff like that, Vivo has done a very nice job here. There’s a 4,300mAh battery and a 44W fast charger, both of which are impressive. Personally, I believe the firm could have included a larger 5,000mAh battery, which is now normal. The phone easily lasted a full day with an hour of gaming, viewing a couple of movies, streaming music, testing the camera, and checking social media feeds. However, at the end of the day, you must charge it for the next morning. Furthermore, the 44W flash charger that comes with the package is another plus. It can quickly charge from 0% to 100% in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Verdict

It is clear that the Vivo V23 Pro 5G is not a gaming smartphone, since the manufacturer has prioritised its design and camera specifications. Also, the phone is priced a little steep (Rs 39,000), and might be out of budget for some. At this price, the manufacturer could have focused on the thermals and added a 120Hz display. Aside from the fact that the Vivo V23 Pro is a fantastic phone, the only concern is its price. If you can afford it, we see no reason not to buy it.

Pros

  • Beautifully designed
  • Curved edges look premium
  • Colour changing back panel
  • Fantastic camera both front and the rear

Cons

  • 90Hz display instead of 120Hz
  • Lacks IP rating
  • Not a dedicated gaming smartphone

WhatsApp update: New Voice Calling Interface, ability to set profile cover photos and more

WhatsApp has begun to roll out a new voice call interface. The most recent deployment is only available to a limited number of Android beta testers. Waveforms for group voice calls are also stored on the device. In addition to this, the instant messaging app will allow users to set profile cover photos just like Facebook. Both the features are under development and will be soon available to both iOS and Android users. Apart from this, a new screen for replying to users regarding their account ban review also appears to be underwork. According to a report by WABetaInfo, a limited number of users have received the new voice calling interface in WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.5.4. While several users have reported seeing the change on WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.5.3. The shared screenshots showcase the redesigned WhatsApp UI while making a group phone call, presenting voice waveforms to all participants throughout the conversation.

According to the report, this functionality is now being rolled out to select Android beta testers, but additional activations are anticipated in the coming weeks. Some iOS beta testers should hear something shortly. It’s worth noting that another feature to improve the phone call interface is already available in this beta: the option to use wallpaper for voice calls, even though it can’t be customised at the time. More information will be provided in a subsequent post when the feature is ready for publication. Meanwhile, in the coming days, WhatsApp is said to release a big upgrade that will likely let users have a cover photo for their profile. It will be comparable to the feature that is now present on Facebook. As of now, WhatsApp users may only customise their profile images, status, and about them. However, when it is implemented, this new function will only be available to Business customers as it’s under development. Accounts will most likely have an extra camera settings option. They may use the new camera button to customise their account’s cover photo. In addition to the current modification, WABetaInfo has additionally stated that WhatsApp is working on a screen that would inform users of the status of their ban review requests.

Following the discovery of additional ban reasons for breaching WhatsApp’s Commerce Policy, as well as the potential of seeking a review of your WhatsApp ban in a future update, WhatsApp is now working on upgrading the design while using the dark theme. The icons on the previous screen, on the other hand, were in a bright colour scheme. In WhatsApp the icons that explain what the response to your ban review reflects the theme selected from WhatsApp Settings > Theme. The functionality is believed to be activated through an upcoming update and users will be able to seek a review for their WhatsApp ban straight within the app if they have been banned from using their service. Android 13 Developer Preview 1 now being rolled out: Here is everything about the features and compatibility details

Developers can now have a first peek at Android’s future version. Yes, the next-gen Android 13 Developer Preview 1 is currently available for app developers to allow them to begin preparing their apps for the next major Android version. As of now, it is accessible for a limited number of Google Pixel smartphones. Developers, on the other hand, may test it out using the Android Emulator in Android Studio. Google commented while announcing the rollout, “With the Android 13 Developer Preview 1, we’re giving you a first peek at the future version of Android. We’re continuing some essential themes in Android 13, including privacy and security, as well as developer productivity. We’ll also build on some of the latest features from 12L to help you make use of the 250+ million large-screen Android devices that are now in use.”

Android 13 features

The latest Android update also aims to improve user privacy and security while also increasing developer efficiency to improve app experiences. To assist users to preserve their picture and video privacy, Android 13 includes a system photo picker – a standard and streamlined mechanism for users to safely share both local and cloud-based photographs. The long-standing document picker in Android allows a user to share particular documents of any type with an app without that app requiring permission to access all media files on the device. This functionality is expanded by the picture picker, which provides a specialised experience for selecting photographs and videos. Apps may utilise the picture picker APIs to access shared photographs and videos without requiring access to all media assets on the device. “We plan to bring the photo picker experience to more Android users through Google Play system updates, as part of a MediaProvider module update for devices (excepting Go devices) running Android 11 and higher,” said Google. The NEARBY WIFI DEVICES runtime permission (part of the NEARBY DEVICES permission group) is introduced in Android 13 for apps that handle a device’s Wi-Fi connections to nearby access points. The new permission will be required for applications that utilise numerous frequently used Wi-Fi APIs, and it allows apps to discover and connect to nearby Wi-Fi devices without requiring location permission. Previously, location permission restrictions posed a problem for apps that required connecting to neighbouring Wi-Fi devices but did not require the device’s location. Apps targeting Android 13 will now be allowed to request the NEARBY WIFI DEVICES permission with the “neverForLocation” option instead. In addition to this Android 13 also includes new developer productivity features and tools such as a language you love in Kotlin or opinionated APIs with Jetpack. To make it easier for users to find and add custom tiles to Quick Settings for applications that support them. Your app may now prompt the user to directly add your own tile to the collection of active Quick Settings tiles by using a new tile placement API. Rather than needing to go to Quick Settings to add the tile, a new system dialogue allows the user to do so in a single step without leaving your programme. Android 13 Developer Preview 1 compatibility details Material You dynamic colour is extended beyond Google applications to all app icons in Android 13, allowing users to choose icons that inherit the hue of their background and other theme selections. According to the company, all your app has to do is provide a monochrome app icon (such as your notification drawable) and a change to the adaptable icon XML. Themed app icons are initially available on Pixel smartphones.

Android 13 Developer Preview 1 compatibility details

To suit the demands of multilingual users apps may now utilise a new platform API to establish or get the user’s chosen language, reducing boilerplate code and improving compatibility when configuring the app’s runtime language. Whereas hyphenation has been improved by up to 200 percent in Android 13, you can now activate it in your TextViews with practically no impact on rendering speed. Android 13 introduces programmable RuntimeShader objects, whose behaviour is defined using the Android Graphics Shading Language (AGSL). These shaders are used internally by Android to generate ripple effects, blur, and stretch overscroll, and Android 13 allows you to build equivalent sophisticated effects for your app. In terms of app compatibility more Android apps are being updated via Google Play to provide apps with a more consistent, safe environment across devices, as well as to bring new features and capabilities to consumers. The OS will also make many of the opt-in modifications that potentially effect your app toggleable again this year to make it easier for you to test them. You may force-enable or deactivate the modifications via Developer settings or adb using the toggles.

Android 13 Developer Preview 1 compatibility details

As per the company, the Android 13 Developer Preview 1 can be installed for testing with tablets and foldable devices, the easiest way to get started is using the Android Emulator in a tablet or foldable configuration. For phones, you may begin by flashing a system image to a Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 XL, or Pixel 4 smartphone. If you don’t have a Pixel device, you may utilise the 64-bit system images in Android Studio with the Android Emulator. GSI photos are accessible for even more extensive testing. What to Get Your Tech-Loving Valentine This Year

Valentine’s Day happens every year, and yet the stress of figuring out what to get that special someone never gets easier. Maybe your significant other isn’t the romantic type, and you know that they won’t be impressed by flowers or chocolates; instead, something tech-related that they can get stuck into would be much more up their street. If you’re struggling with what to get your tech-loving sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, read on for some of our favourite ideas – and they may even help you amp up the romance on the big day, too.

Subscription to their Favorite Streaming Site

Streaming sites such as Netflix and Hulu have taken the entertainment world by storm in the past decade, but unfortunately, they can put a dent in your wallet. If your partner has been contemplating getting a membership for a new streaming site but they aren’t sure, they’ll definitely appreciate you buying it for them. Not only is it a gift they’ll genuinely use, but you’ll also prove that you’ve been listening! You can also turn this gift into a date since the two of you can settle in for a romantic night with all of the new films on offer. On Valentine’s Day, you can even save yourself the “what should we watch” argument using this handy infographic from ExpressVPN, which will tell you exactly what film suits your current mood.

A Smartwatch

Smartwatches have exploded in popularity in the past few years and, with countless options from the Apple Watch to the FitBit, you’re bound to find one that’s perfect for your other half this Valentine’s Day. It’s worth figuring out how your partner would use a smartwatch; for example, fitness fanatics will appreciate one that can monitor their heartbeat, sleep patterns and other levels. If they’d prefer to use it to easily access their notifications, you should consider a smartwatch that will sync up to their phone. Either way, any tech-head will absolutely appreciate this as a Valentine’s Day gift.

Bluetooth Headphones/Speakers

Your choice here will depend entirely on how your spouse prefers to listen to their music, podcasts, etc. If they work from home or like to play host to family get-togethers, they’ll likely appreciate a sturdy Bluetooth speaker that can handle all of their favourite music at full volume. Alternatively, headphones might be a better choice if they spend a lot of time outdoors or working in public spaces. It’s worth asking your partner which they would prefer if you’re considering this Valentine’s Day present, because it will (hopefully) be something they’ll get use for years to come. Overall, what makes a ‘romantic’ present is up to interpretation. Your tech-obsessed partner will likely appreciate these ideas a lot more than a night out. Their practicality also means that every time they use their new gadget, they’ll be reminded of your love for them. Comparison: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max

Samsung, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer, presented the all-new Samsung Galaxy S22 Series at this year’s inaugural Galaxy Unpacked event. The Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra are the three models in the lineup. The Ultra is the most expensive of the smartphones, and it also serves as a successor for the company’s successful Galaxy Note series, as it has an upgraded S Pen.  All of the devices have a slew of fascinating features, but in our comparison, we’ll concentrate on the top-of-the-line smartphone Ultra. We pitted the smartphone against the iPhone 13 Pro Max to see which gadget is the greatest premium device. So here’s a spec-by-spec comparison of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max

Display

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6.68 inches Super Retina XDR display

Processor

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 4nm Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset iPhone 13 Pro Max: A15 Bionic chipset

Rear camera(s)

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: A quad rear camera configuration with a 108-megapixel wide-angle sensor (f/1.8 aperture). In addition, the smartphone has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 10-megapixel telephoto camera (3x optical zoom) and 10-megapixel telephoto camera (10x optical zoom). iPhone 13 Pro Max: 12 MP telephoto lens (ƒ/2.8), 12MP wide sensor (ƒ/1.5) and 12MP ultra-wide lens (ƒ/1.8)

Selfie camera

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 40-megapixel camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens iPhone 13 Pro Max: 12MP Trudepth camera

RAM and storage

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 8GB RAM with 128GB, 12GB RAM with 256GB, 12GB RAM with 512GB, and 12GB RAM with 1TB storage iPhone 13 Pro Max: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 5,000mAh battery iPhone 13 Pro Max: 2500+mAh

Operating system

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top iPhone 13 Pro Max: iOS 15

Price

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: $1,199 (Rs 89,900) iPhone 13 Pro Max: Rs 1,29,900

Our Take

Even before we use it, the first thing that comes to mind is the design. So, when it comes to design, we liked the iPhone 13 Pro Max over the Galaxy S22 Ultra since it has a more eye-catching appearance and appears more luxurious. However, going with the Ultra would be our choice because the front panel has precisely the appropriate size camera punch hole, whereas the iPhone has a larger camera notch. Another advantage of the Samsung flagship is that it supports the S Pen, which has been upgraded with Wacom technology to enable enhancements to the stylus functions, such as reduced latency. Both handsets feature excellent screens, but the one on the Samsung is noticeably brighter and has a higher resolution and pixel density. In terms of hardware iPhone 13 Pro Max outpaces the 4nm Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. It is much quicker and can handle anything. They, like the CPU, provide an entirely distinct user experience because one runs Android and the other runs iOS. The former will provide four years of software updates, and the latter will provide at least five years of upgrades. As of yet, we cannot remark on the cameras of either phone because they both give the finest. However, we can confidently state that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will give the iPhone 13 Pro Max a run for its money in this category. As a result, both smartphones provide you with top-notch features. We evaluated all of the specifications of both devices, and your decision will be dependent on your needs. However, when comparing prices, the Samsung S22 Ultra is less expensive than the iPhone 13 Pro, which may influence your decision. If you are willing to pay more money, you can get an iPhone, but we prefer the S22 Ultra. Our verdict

All three freshly released smartphones include a quad-camera setup with a 50MP sensor. However, the Moto G smartphone has a superior camera setup than the other two smartphones. However, in terms of selfies, Vivo and Redmi devices outperform Moto. Also, all three handsets are powered by a 5,000mAh battery, although only the Moto and Redmi enable 33W fast charging. In terms of display, Vivo outperforms both devices because of its AMOLED display that enables a refresh rate of 120Hz.  In terms of software, the Vivo T1 5G runs FunTouch 12 based on Android 12, whereas its competitors use an earlier generation of Android OS (Android 11). In our opinion, Vivo is a strong competitor in the sub-Rs 20,000 pricing range. Buyers can select any of the smartphones based on their preferences and needs, but we recommend the Vivo T1 5G. New State Mobile February update released, brings new Round Deathmatch

Krafton today announced the release of the February update for New State Mobile, formerly known as PUBG: New State. The new update is now available for both Android and iOS and brings Round Deathmatch (RDM) Mode, a 4v4 round-based experience in which teams strive to be the last one standing. In addition to this, the new version also includes Survivor Pass Vol 4, new MP5K and Crossbow weaponry, and changes to the in-game clan system, among other things. RDM (Round Deathmatch) is a 4v4 round-based mode. Players will not respawn after being eliminated, unlike in standard deathmatch games. Each round, the side with the last person standing wins. Teams will battle in a best-of-seven series to determine who would win the match. In RDM, each team will begin each game on opposing sides of the Arena – a new arena devoted to RDM – with a basic set of weaponry. A Blue Zone will appear at the start of each round, and will progressively move to the centre of the map as the game proceeds. Players may now proceed through the new Survivor Pass to gain a range of in-game prizes with the February update for New State Mobile. Players may complete a series of faction-themed tasks with this Survivor Pass, which focuses on Doug Bikerway of the Mayhem motorcycle gang, one of the arms-dealing factions in the New State Mobile. Players who finish the narrative tasks can get the Doug Bikerway skin. The February update for New State Mobile has also included MP5K. It is a 9mm-based SMG that can be outfitted with a number of accessories to aid with recoil management. While in the Troi and Erangel 2052 maps, the quiet, long-range Crossbow is now accessible as a field drop. In addition to this, the latest New State Mobile update also brings new weapon customisations. The M249 rifle may now be modified with a new shield attachment that mounts on the side of its handguard and protects the opposing fire from damaging it, thanks to this update. However, this adjustment results in a significantly slower ADS time. To assist players to match with clans of similar nationalities, recommended clans will now focus on a Clan Master’s nationality. Players may now search for clans depending on that criterion to locate the one that is right for them. Clan Masters may now customise their Clan Emblem with a range of symbols, backgrounds, and colours, with more possibilities to come in the future. These Clan Emblems will appear on the “recommended clan page” as well as on the profile pages of clan members.
