The popular video streaming platform owned by Google, YouTube has announced its acquisition of Indian company Simsim. The company has acquired the short video shopping platform in order to provide e-commerce features to its users in the coming future. The company claims that this will help its viewers discover and buy products from Indian retailers through videos. This news comes by way of a blog post that stated,  “As more and more shopping happens online, video has an important role in helping viewers discover new products and find expert advice they trust. Every day, people come to YouTube to compare products, watch reviews and find recommendations from their favourite creators. Today, we are taking another step to help viewers discover and buy products from local businesses: we have signed a definitive agreement to acquire simsim and expect to complete the transaction in the coming weeks.” For those who are unaware, Simsim is a short video shopping platform in India that enables e-commerce through videos. The Simsim app serves as a platform to connect local businesses, influencers and customers. When the creators post video reviews of products from local businesses, the viewers can buy those products directly through the app. Videos are available in three local languages including Hindi, Tamil and Bengali, enabling retailers of all sizes to reach buyers through video in their preferred language. So YouTube has acquired this Indian company in order to help small businesses and retailers in India to reach new customers. As of now, there will be no immediate changes to simsim, the app will continue operating independently while we work on ways to showcase simsim offers to YouTube viewers.   As per the video, giant small businesses have used YouTube to expand their presence online — and many of them use YouTube to reach customers outside of their local community, from Interior Designers to Silk Sarees sellers.  In a joint statement, simsim cofounders, Amit Bagaria, Kunal Suri and Saurabh Vashishtha said, “We started simsim with the mission of helping users across India shop online with ease, enabled through small sellers and brands showcasing and selling their products using the power of content by trusted influencers. As we are inching closer to the launch of the OnePlus Nord 2, the rumour mills are constantly churning one leak after another. And now, the latest leak has revealed the specifications of the much-anticipated smartphone including its colour options. Recently the pricing and the design of the device was also leaked on the web. But the latest reveal shows the phone sporting a hole-punch display and triple camera sensors placed inside a rectangular-shaped camera module on the back of the phone. OnePlus Nord 2 has been leaked again on the web revealing its specifications and colour options just ahead of the official launch. The leaked renders of the upcoming smartphone show the design and are tipped to arrive in two colour options of Gray Sierra and Blue Haze. The device is also expected to be available in a third Green Woods colour option but for the 12GB RAM with 256GB storage option. The leaked renders of the phone also show an alert slider and the power button on the right side of the frame whereas the volume key is positioned on either side. Moreover, OnePlus Nord 2 is also tipped to come in a 6.43-inch full-HD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution. The screen offers a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 410ppi pixel density along with a 90Hz refresh rate support. The device is confirmed to run on OxygenOS 11.3 along with two OS updates and three years of software support. Under the hood, it is likely to equip a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI SoC paired with  8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. In terms of cameras, the OnePlus Nord 2 is likely to come with a triple rear camera set up consisting of a 50-megapixel IMX766 sensor. But that’s not the case anymore as WhatsApp has started rolling out the joinable group calls allowing users to join a group video or voice call after it has started and was missed. WhatsApp Joinable Calls is a new user interface that is very similar to the interface you see on Facetime. The feature gives the ability to people to join calls even when they are already started. WhatsApp will give you the option or alert if you want to quickly join the call, without asking other participants to add you again if the group call is still ongoing. This feature is such a relief to many users like us who don’t want to join a group video or voice call initially or ignore them temporarily for whatever reasons and quickly join the call later on without asking other participants to add you again. WhatsApp via a blog post said, “At a time when so many of us are apart, there’s nothing better than getting together on a group call with friends and family, and there’s nothing worse than realizing that you missed a special moment. As the popularity of group calls continues to grow, we’ve been working to improve the experience for our users – while of course still providing the security and privacy of end-to-end encryption. Today we’re introducing the ability to join a group call, even after it’s started. Joinable calls reduce the burden of answering a group call as it starts, and brings the spontaneity and ease of in-person conversations to a group calling on WhatsApp.” When someone in your group misses a call when the phone rings, they can still join whenever they like. You can also drop-off and re-join so long as the call is still ongoing as the new WhatsApp Joinable calls feature to make it possible. Exactly one year back Twitter had introduced the feature of voice tweets on its platform. Now the microblogging site is rolling out an automated captions for voice tweets after much criticism for not having captions. Though Twitter offers captions in Twitter spaces which is Clubhouse-like social audio rooms. The Voice tweet functionality works similar to Tweeting with text. The users can use their voice tweet and with the arrival of the new feature, the user will now see captions generated in supported languages. Twitter announced the rolling out of the captions for voice tweets on its platform via a tweet. The tweet reads, “We’re rolling out voice Tweets to more of you on iOS so we can keep learning about how people use audio. Since introducing the feature in June, we’ve taken your feedback seriously and are working to have transcription available to make voice Tweets more accessible.” The company further added, “ Transcription for audio and video is part of our larger plan to make Twitter accessible for everyone across all features, both existing and new.” With the introduction of captions for voice tweets, the microblogging platform will automatically generate captions whenever there is a voice tweet that too in supported languages using your device’s language settings. According to Twitter, this functionality will now work accurately if your device language is set to one language and you are speaking another. As of now it supports English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, French, Indonesian, Korean, and Italian. Right now captions for voice tweets feature is only accessible to the iOS platform. To access the feature click on the CC icon on the top-right corner of the voice tweet window. Note that the captions will be automatically generated on new voice tweets but not on the older ones.  Twitter’s head of global accessibility Gurpreet Kaur stated, “As part of our ongoing work to make Twitter accessible for everyone, we’re rolling out automated captions for Voice Tweets to iOS. OnePlus Nord 2 design revealed: Everything we know about from expected pricing and specifications
Recently OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 2 will come with OxygenOS 11 and support two major Android updates along with three years of security updates. In a new reveal the company has revealed the design of the upcoming smartphone prior to the official launch. The next-gen of Nord is scheduled to debut in India on July 22. The device has also been listed on Amazon to tease its availability. The news comes by way of an Instagram post in which the Chinese smartphone company has shared a photo of the OnePlus Nord 2. The back design is shown in a  blue back panel with the OnePlus branding in the middle. The smartphone can be seen featuring a triple rear camera setup that is aligned vertically on the left corner of the phone. The camera set-up mainly consists of two large sensors and one smaller sensor alongside the flash module. The camera resolution has not been revealed but the handset is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel sensor inspired by OnePlus 9 Pro. It is a Sony IMX766 primary sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS). Previously the company revealed that the OnePlus Nord 2 will have OxygenOS 11 based on top of Android 11 out-of-the-box. The company has also promised to release two major Android updates. In addition to this, the Nord 2 owners will also get regular security updates for three years. The device will be the first to ship OxygenOS release v11.3, based on the integrated codebase after the OxygenOS-ColorOS codebase merger. Speaking of the pricing, reportedly the device will be offered in 8GB RAM with 128GB storage at Rs 31,999. Whereas the 12GB RAM with 256Gb storage model is likely to come with a price tag of Rs 34,999.  According to the company, OnePlus Nord 2 is confirmed to carry a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification. Additionally, the phone will come with a power button and an alert slider on the right side of the phone and a volume rocker on the left. The Chinese smartphone company, Poco, has officially announced to launch of its next gaming smartphone. The company has decided to introduce the Poco F3 GT on July 23 at 12 noon in the country. Alongside revealing the launch date the company has also disclosed some of the key features of the upcoming smartphone. The teaser suggests that the smartphone will feature dual-stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. In addition to this, the company has previously shared more information while rolling out teasers ahead of the launch. Poco F3 GT is scheduled to launch in India on July 23 at 12 noon. Poco is expected to host an online launch event to introduce the smartphone in the country. The Livestream details are yet to be announced however the event will be presented through the company’s social media channels including YouTube. Some of the previous reports suggest that the phone will be a rebranded Redmi K40 Gaming Edition that debuted in the Chinese market a few months ago.  Prior to the official launch, the company has confirmed some of the key features of the Poco F3 GT. The teasers suggest that the device will feature a slipstream design and anti-fingerprint matte finish. Additionally, the frames on the sides are made up of aerospace-grade aluminium alloy. There will be dual-stereo speakers and support for Dolby Atmos too. Previous teasers also suggest that the gaming smartphone will debut Gunmetal Silver and Predator Black colour options. Poco F3 GT will also have a 22-step engraved matte panel. It will come with a 10 Bit 120Hz AMOLED display offering 1.07 billion colours and HDR10+ support. Over that, the device will have GT Switch and Maglev Triggers for the best gaming experience. This allows you to game optimally using 4 fingers. It has been paired with shoulder buttons & tactile keys as well. Poco F3 GT will also bring a triple mic set up out of which one is a dedicated gaming mic. To tackle the heating issues while intensive gaming the company has provided vapour chamber cooling tech. Speculations suggest that the gaming smartphone will be a rebranded variant of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced edition. It might feature a 6.67-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC the device will ship MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11. In terms of cameras, the Poco F3 GT will come with a triple rear camera setup that will bring a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.65 aperture. Additionally, there will be an 8-megapixel secondary sensor and a  2-megapixel tertiary lens. Upfront there will be a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.  In terms of connectivity, it is most likely to bring  Wi-Fi, 5G, GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port and more. In addition to this, there will be a  side-mounted fingerprint scanner for authentication. The device will come with an IP53 rating for water and dust resistance. The smartphone will ship a 5,065mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. Umang App which serves e-governance through mobile devices was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD). The unified app has now been integrated with MapmyIndia Maps and APIs to enable map services in India. Here is what government facilities can be located through Umang App. Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) provides services of the central, state, local bodies, and various government agencies. The app is available for Android and iOS devices. In a new development, the app has been enabled with map services. With the integration, the people in the country will be able to find government facilities nearest to their location, such as mandis, blood banks and much more, at the click of a button. In addition to this, the users will also be able to see the driving distance, get directions and get turn by turn voice and visual guidance to those locations, including traffic and road safety alerts during navigation, through the linkage between Umang App and MapmyIndia. The application will also let you see these on the most detailed, interactive building, street and village level maps of India, built by MapmyIndia.  Moreover, the Umang app has already started to provide other map functionality through MapmyIndia that includes Mera Ration, eNAM, Damini, ESIC and Indian Oil. The list also includes NHAI, NCRB and Meri Sadak.

Through UMANG, ‘Mandi Near Me’ service will help users to identify and navigate to the nearby mandis pointed on the map. ‘Damini Lightning Alerts’ will provide lightning alerts to users by giving a visual of nearby areas where lightning has struck in the last few minutes. Whereas Unser can also use the Umang app to view ESIC centres such as hospitals/dispensaries on the map view and navigate to them. Nearby Indian Oil services such as retail and distributors of Gas stations and fuel filling stations can also be located on the Umang app. NHAI option will let you see the upcoming toll plazas and toll rates information while travelling. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) provides information corresponding to nearby police stations on the map. iQoo 7 Review: A killer gaming smartphone
It’s been some time since we have been using the iQoo 7, which is ready to take on its competitors under the Rs 35,000 price segment. Vivo has introduced its flagship series, which includes a Legend edition. Today we will be reviewing iQoo 7, which brings a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC that directly puts in front of the Mi 11X that has the same processor. In addition to this, there is a 120Hz display and more cool features. So let’s find out how well the smartphone performed in our iQoo 7 review.

iQoo 7 review: Design and Display

Let’s first start with the built quality and the design of the iQoo 7. This phone carries a simplistic design. The Solid Ice Blue colour, which we have, comes with a gradient finish and changes its hues when light hits it at different angles. The back of the phone is layered with AG matte glass to give it a matte yet smooth feel. Also, it does not attract any fingerprints and smudges at all. The big-sized camera module does not wobble when placed on a table or flat surface.  iQoo 7 review: Design and DisplayiQoo 7 review: Design and Display The side frames are made of plastic and all the buttons are given on the right side that includes power and volume rocker keys. The power button does not double up as a fingerprint reader since the company has integrated an in-display sensor. The phone does not ship a 3.5mm headphone jack or a microSD card slot. At the bottom, you will find a SIM card slot, Type-C USB port and a speaker grille, which is primary while the earpiece is a secondary one. So, yes you do get stereo sound support. iQoo 7 review: Design and Display   Due to its tall build, the device cannot be used single-handedly. There is a 6.62-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. Notably, most of the apps run on a 120Hz refresh rate, but YouTube on 60Hz only. Though it supports a higher refresh rate, the display does not feel buttery smooth while scrolling feeds on social media accounts. That could be the case of sensitivity. This we could feel as we have recently switched from Mi 11X Pro to iQoo 7, which was swift and smooth. iQoo 7 review The display comes with a peak brightness of 1,300nits, so the readability outdoors is perfect and can achieve low brightness while using the phone in bed or in dim light conditions. The colours are also fine, but you can change them in the display setting to your preference. The display comes with Widewine L1 support, but you can only stream content in HDR format. Moreover, there is an anti-flicker mode that reduces screen flicker and minimises visual fatigue when the screen brightness is low. But this may increase screen noise slightly. We have also realised that the company should have cut down the front camera diameter just like its competition has.

iQoo 7 review: Performance and Cameras

iQoo 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, along with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. We have the 8GB RAM with a 128GB storage variant for review. The Snapdragon 870 unlocks great gaming performance and offers top-notch performance. Under real-life usage, the device is fast while opening default apps and effortless in multitasking. There even the most demanding titles like Call of Duty don’t stutter when played at the highest of graphics settings. You can convert the standard definition game to HDR. The phone does get warm at the back, but we cannot call it a heating issue. Most importantly this does not throttle the performance and the phone’s temp cools down very quickly.  The company claims that the phone has a graphite layer cooling system, but playing graphic-intensive games like COD, PUBG and Asphalt will surely take a toll on the thermals after 15 minutes of gameplay. You will also get to feel the vibration during gaming since there is 4D Game Vibration which uses the dual linear vibration motor. This feature lets you feel the bumps and impacts that boost the overall gaming performance on iQoo 7. iQoo 7 review: Performance and Cameras So far we have covered the display, design and performance side of things now comes the camera’s performance. There is a triple rear camera setup that includes a Sony IMX 598 48-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens that also doubles up as a macro sensor and a 2-megapixel mono lens. The phone features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calling. The cameras manage to produce brighter, pleasing images, with good dynamic range and shadow details as well. When clicking images of flowers the cameras bring out more saturation, but we preferred it that way. The same goes with the ultra-wide images, the photos are sharp, bright and do not look dark. The OIS kicks in while shooting nighttime images, therefore, offering brighter and sharper images. You can also turn on the night mode, but sometimes the shots delivered are unnecessarily brighter at certain instances but does an excellent job in maintaining exposure and details in extremely low light conditions by bringing in more light. When it comes to portraits, the photos look unnaturally yellowish or orangish around the subject’s face. But sharpness and dynamic range are natural and the subject’s face looks smoothened. Besides this, the camera app offers some cool image effects to play with but at times the edge detection is just not perfect when it comes to selfies.

Now coming to the videography, iQoo 7 can capture 4K videos at 60fps from its primary rear camera. However, this resolution lacks booths EIS and OIS. The ultra-wide videos remain limited to 1080p @ 30fps and it also lacks stabilisation.

The selfie videos have good details and the skin tone looks natural while the audio pickup is decent as well. As for the battery life, iQoo 7 is fueled by a 4,400mAh battery. You end up getting more than 1 day of battery life even if you are a heavy user. The company ships a 65W charger that juices up the battery from zero to 50 percent in just 10 minutes and fully charges it in just half an hour. That’s commendable.

So there you have it guys, the review of iQoo 7. The company has managed to deliver an overall balanced phone with this one that easily surpasses many devices at this price point. WhatsApp’s first intermediary guidelines report revealed that over 20 lakh accounts were banned recently in India
Popular social media app owned by Facebook, WhatsApp has released its first intermediary guidelines report under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. According to the report the messaging app has banned over 20 lakh accounts in India between May 15 – June 15, 2021, in order to prevent harmful behaviour.  WhatsApp has also revealed that it has identified Indian accounts through the +91 country code of the registered mobile number. Moreover, the report reveals that 25 percent of accounts banned on Whatsapp are solely from India; the remaining are from the rest of the world. The breakdown shared by Whatsapp includes the revenues it received from several parties between May 15 to June 15, 2021. The report states that the messaging app has received  70 requests for account support and 204 ban appeals, out of which 63 accounts were banned on the app. As per the first intermediary guidelines report 2,011,000 accounts were banned in India between May 15 to June 15 2021. The Indian accounts were identified via +91 code prefixed before the phone number to register. The Taiwanese electronics giant, Asus recently announced its collaboration with Flipkart to bring new products to India. The company has now officially unveiled fresh models of Asus Chromebooks that have been designed with the homegrown online retailer. The Asus Chromebook Flip C214, Chromebook C423, Chromebook C523, Chromebook C223, Chromebook C423 and Chromebook C523 are said to be highly affordable and feature a more rugged design. Additionally, the laptops run Chrome OS and are equipped with Intel processors. Asus Chromebook Flip C214, Chromebook C423, Chromebook C523, and Chromebook C223 price and availability details Asus Chromebook Flip C214 has been launched at Rs 23,999. The Chromebook C223 is priced at Rs 17,999 whereas Chromebook C423 (Non-Touch) will be available at Rs 19,999. The price of the Chromebook C523 (Non-Touch) has been set at Rs 20,999 and Chromebook C423 (Touch) at Rs 23,999. Lastly, the Asus Chromebook C523 (Touch) can be purchased at Rs 24,999. All the laptops are scheduled to go on sale in India on July 22 from 12 noon onwards via the e-commerce website Flipkart in the country. For connectivity, there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader.

The Chinese smartphone company Vivo has officially introduced a new 5G smartphone in the Indian market. The company has launched Vivo Y72 5G in India which was earlier unveiled in Thailand in March this year. The key highlights of the smartphone include a dual rear camera set up and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC. Moreover, the device comes loaded with gaming-centric features such as Multi-Turbo 5.0 feature.

Vivo Y72 5G has been launched in India in a single 8Gb RAM with a 128GB storage variant. This model comes with a price tag of Rs 20,990 and will be offered in two colour options of Prism Magic and Slate Grey. The device is now up for sale via various online shopping platforms in the country that includes Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm, Tatacliq, Bajaj EMI Store, and the Vivo India e-store. There will be Rs 1,500 cashback on the purchase of the Vivo Y72 5G if the transaction is made through HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Kotak Bank credit cardholders. This offer is also applicable to EMI transactions as well.
