PUBG Mobile rolled out a new Mysterious Jungle Mode

Very recently, Tencent Games teased the arrival of its new gaming mode known as “Mysterious Jungle” through a tweet posted on Twitter. However, it did not reveal much information related to the new mode. To recall, the company has rolled out Royale Pass Season 13 with two Cartoon Rangers named Ice Ranger and Fire Ranger. Prior to this, a new map called Miramar Map was also released through the version 0.18.0 update. Now the company has finally rolled out the Mysterious Jungle mode on PUBG Mobile, which it was teasing.

With the release of Mysterious Jungle mode on PUBG Mobile, it brings new treasure hunts via new mode along with some changes to the maps along with additional bonuses in the form of in-game items for praying to totems in the game.

While announcing the roll out the company said, “PUBG MOBILE introduces a “Mysterious Jungle” with an array of new features giving users a new twist to the old classic tactical gameplay in the dense and rugged forest map, Sanhok. Available starting today, the all-new  jungle-themed update looks to add a fresh and fun experience in an already intense battlefield.”

The new game mode is based on the Sanhok map and can be played in teams. Players who queue for Sanhok in Classic Mode will now have the random chance to activate and get into the new Jungle Adventure Mode, adding several mysterious totems to get different blessings. In addition to this the players will be able to activate  Power Totems, Strategy Totems, and Protection Totems in order to repair Helmets and Vests, restore Energy and restore Health, respectively.

Alongside, the plates will be able to experience features such as Jungle Food and Hot Air Balloons. The Jungle Food can be consumed by the players while traversing the Mysterious Jungle that will provide mysterious effects to players. Special fruits now grow throughout Sanhok, and players who loot and consume them have the chance to experience mystical effects. Random Buffs and Debuff allow players to be able to sense Air Drops, restore Health or Energy, or cause dizziness.

Whereas the air-balloons is a new addition in the list of vehicles which can be used to fly into the sky from one point to another and survey the battlefield to locate enemies.

To recall Sanhok map just arrived after the version 0.18.0 release that upgraded the Miramar map to Mad Miramar Map. It brings a new landscape, roads resources as well as housing areas. It also included new elements such as Sandstorm, race track etc and a new map vehicle Golden Mirando and a vending machine. This allows up to 20 players to interact with each other.

Within days after the launch of ‘Remove China Apps’, the creator OneTouch AppLabs, which is a Jaipur-based start-up, has now announced that its very first Initiative in direction of self-reliant India has crossed more than 1 million downloads. The app came in existence amid the growing anti-China sentiments in the country after engineer-turned-reformer Sonam Wangchuk made an appeal to the citizens of Indian to boycott Chinese products and “stop virtually financing the current military bullying in Ladakh and the South China Sea.”

According to Wangchuk, “If we citizens are clever we should use our wallet power rather than leaving it totally to our armies to respond with their bullets. The bullet response is what China is looking for as it helps unite its angry citizens to forgive the mistakes and forget the economic hardships caused by the regime’s poor handling of COVID 19.”

Now coming back to the ‘Remove China Apps’ by OneTouch AppLabs, this application has garnered 4.8 rating on Google Play Store. In order to install the app, one requires Android 4.0.3. or above version in the smartphones.

On it’s official website, the creators of ‘Remove China Apps’ have stated, “We have received 80,000 + appreciations in the last 2 days via email, google play store feedback and other mediums. Notifying that the OneTouch AppLabs is working hard to improve ‘Remove China Apps’ as per received feedbacks, the start-up has also issued a disclaimer saying, “This application is being developed for educational purposes only to identify the country of origin of a certain application, we do not promote or force people to uninstall any of the application.” It further added that OneTouch AppLabs announced on its website that developers do not use it for commercial purposes.

Besides this, OneTouch AppLabs also clarified that detecting the country of origin of smartphone apps via ‘Remove China Apps’ is purely based on the market research. Therefore, the start-up does not guarantee for any correct or wrong information, so users should act only at their own will. Furthermore, Remove China Apps application identifies and showcases the installed application name only. All trademarks and/or copyrights and/or patents are the property of their respective owners.

Currently available only to Android-powered smartphone users, ‘Remove China Apps’ measures 3.5MB in size and is a free-to-download app. If you are wondering how you can access this app? Well, it has an easy-to-use interface as you simply need to tap your finger on the Scan Now tab in order to find out Chinese apps installed in your handset. WeTransfer gets blocked in India: Here’s everything you should know

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, popular file-sharing app WeTransfer is now reportedly ban in India as the Central government’s Department of Technology (DoT) has cited the national security and public interest reason behind this. The app which came handy for people working from home to transfer huge files online is no more accessible by users of Reliance Jio, VodaFone and Hathway. However, WeTransfer website can still be used by Airtel customers.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, “In an order dated May 18, the telecom department directed internet service providers (ISP) to ban three specific website URLs. The first two are specific pages of WeTransfer, while the third is the entire website. It is unclear as to what is contained in the first two URLs as the website is currently banned by several ISPs, but banning WeTransfer entirely is a perplexing decision.”

Several WeTransfer users have taken to Twitter to report their inability to access the website as it creative massive problem for those working from home.

Besides this, there are reports that those users who are unable to access the WeTransfer page get a message stating, “You are not authorised to access this webpage as per the DoT compliance” or simply “This site can’t be reached… The connection was reset… Try: Checking the connection… ERR_CONNECTION_RESET.”

While We Transfer, which was founded in 2009 as the simplest way to send big files around the world, has tweeted, “Hey! We are aware that WeTransfer seems to be blocked and unavailable in India. We are working hard to understand the reasoning behind this block, as well as how to get it reverted as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!”

It further suggested the WeTransfer users on Twitter stating, “Hey there, a great alternative is to use a VPN so you can connect to an IP outside of India.”

Up until now, WeTransfer hasn’t come up with a reason by its website is banned in India. However, news is rife that the users were indulging in to sharing illegal content like pornographic, pirated movies, etc.

Stating that WeTransfer is currently unavailable in India, the company said via its Help Center on the official website, “Our aim here at WeTransfer has always been to provide a way for every single person on the planet to get their transfers from ‘A’ to ‘B’ with as little hassle as possible – and we do everything we can to keep our high standards in place. However, at this moment in time, WeTransfer seems to be blocked and unavailable in India. We are working hard to understand the reasoning behind this block, as well as how to get it reverted as soon as possible.”

“We know that a lot of you rely on us to send and receive transfers that are important to you, nowadays more than ever, so it really does break our hearts to see that so many of you can’t use WeTransfer at the moment. Hopefully, we’ll be able to welcome you all back soon – but for the moment, please do bear with us, and know that we are doing all we can to fix this. We will update this page as soon as we have more information. Thank you,” added WeTransfer.

Meanwhile, people can also use alternatives for WeTransfer like Dropbox or Google Drive amongst several others to transfer the files.

Indian Security researcher grabbed 75 lakhs for discovering a critical vulnerability in the Sign-in Apple account

An Indian Security researcher, Bhavuk Jain won a $100,000 bounty from Apple on finding a critical bug within its Sign in with Apple. Now patched the bug could allow hackers easy access to the user’s account. The 27-year-old developers revealed this via his blog post. 

He claimed, “For this vulnerability, I was paid $100,000 by Apple under their Apple Security Bounty program.”

Apple has fixed the critical flaw and paid $100,000 that translated to Rs 75 lakh as a  part of the Apple Security Bounty program. To recall last year in 2019 the company announced Sign in with Apple that gave access to the users to simply Sign-in into third-party apps and websites using their Apple ID. This way is said to be the most secured as well as private sign-ins than Google or Facebook. The company assures the users that Sign in with Apple keeps the user’s data safe while other social sign-ins may collect user’s private information this means the users are allowed to sign up with apps and services anonymously without having to reveal their Apple ID.

However, Bhavuk Jain claimed that In April this year he found a zero-day in Sign in with Apple that affected third-party applications which were using it and didn’t implement their own additional security measures. According to him, this could potentially allow hackers to fully take over any account linked to it such as a third party application irrespective of a victim having a valid Apple ID or not. The Sign-in with Apple supports applications such as Dropbox, Spotify, Airbnb, Giphy.

“The Sign in with Apple works similarly to OAuth 2.0. There are two possible ways to authenticate a user by either using a JWT (JSON Web Token) or a code generated by the Apple server. The code is then used to generate a JWT.” The JWT contains the mail ID which is then used by the 3rd party app to log in a user. He further identified that JWTs for any Email ID from Apple and when the signature of these tokens was verified using Apple’s public key, they showed as valid. This means an attacker could forge a JWT by linking any Email ID to it and gaining access to the victim’s account.

According to him, this vulnerability was quite critical as it could have allowed a full account takeover. When Apple learnt about the bug it also did an investigation of their logs and determined there was no misuse or account compromised due to this vulnerability.

TRAI released recommendations on ensuring adequate numbering resources for fixed-line and mobile services in the country

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued its new recommendations on  “Developing a Unified Numbering Plan for Fixed Line and Mobile Services” in order to augment the numbering resources for Fixed-line and mobile services in India. Which means from now on the users in the country have to prefix “0” before dialling a number from a landline or fixed-line connection.

 “The total number of telephone subscribers in India stands at 1177.02 million with a tele-density of 87.45% at the end of January 2020. Resultantly, we find ourselves in a situation where we need to review the utilization of the numbering resources and make some policy decisions to ensure that adequate resources are available for sustainable growth of the telecommunication services,” TRAI stated.

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, these recommendations are based on the inputs received from the stakeholders and its own internal analysis, the Authority has finalized these recommendations. The recommendations comprise four chapters. Chapter 1 provides a background to the subject. Chapter 2 deals with the measures which can be taken for generating adequate numbering resources. Chapter 3 deals with the present allocation criteria of numbers and associated issues. Chapter 4 provides a summary of the recommendations.

From now on it is mandatory to prefix “0” before calling a regular mobile number from a fixed-line connection. At the moment both fixed line numbers and mobile numbers consist of 10 digits, excluding the country code. Calls within the local area are defined as local calls. In this open numbering system, 6 to 8 digits are required to be dialled for a local call from a fixed-line to another fixed line, but 10 digits (SDCA code+ Subscriber number) need to be dialled for national long distance calls with a dialling prefix ‘0’. In order to access a call from a landline to a mobile number now, you are required to prefix “0” even within a service area. It is important to note that this does not apply when you are dialling mobile to a landline, mobile to mobile or landline to landline.

Another big recommendation includes switching from 10 to 11 digits in case of regular mobile numbers. The allocation is done in batches of 10 MSC codes, which caters to 1 million subscribers.

Next important recommendation is that those mobile numbers being allotted for mobile data or dongles to be shifted to 13 digits. Currently, all mobile numbers associated with the dongles and data cards have a 10-digit numbering scheme. With the latest recommendations include switching from 10 to 13 digits.

“DoT has already allocated 13-digit numbers for M2M communication. It is also possible to 20 shift these data only connections (SIMs4 used for data cards, dongles and other devices used only for the Internet access) to 13-digit numbering series since these devices are not used for making PSTN voice calls. It is also possible to provide private-numbering series for these numbers by the cellular mobile operators (which is internal to their network). This will release some of the numbering resources blocked by the operators.” TRAI stated.

The fixed-line levels ‘3’, ‘5’, and ‘6’, are grossly underutilized. The total number of basic telephone connections in level ‘2’ is 12.260 million and that in level ‘4’ is 4.315 million (as on 31st January 2020). By sparing the underutilized levels ‘3’, ’5’, and ‘6’, and moving them to a sub-level of ‘2’ or ‘4’, several million numbers can be used for mobile numbers.

In order to ensure consumer safety at a time when social distancing is the new normal, Samsung has launched a massive initiative to ensure that all its Samsung Exclusive Stores have been ‘Suraksha’ certified. The smartphone company believes that the Suraksha certification will ensure that consumers feel safe and confident when they visit the stores to purchase their favourite Galaxy smartphones.

Citing that consumers are at the core of everything that Samsung does, Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business at Samsung India, said, “Our initiative will ensure that consumers and employees working at these Exclusive Stores feel confident about their wellbeing and safety. Samsung remains committed to stand with the people in its fight against this pandemic and limit its spread by the implementation of Suraksha measures across all Exclusive Stores.”

Samsung has stated that it has taken special care to sanitize all its Samsung Exclusive Stores before opening them to consumers. Moreover, hand sanitizers have been made available at the stores, making it mandatory for Samsung Experience consultants to use them at all touch points, especially at the entry and exit doors of the stores.

Abiding by the Indian government’s social distancing guidelines, the South Korea-based smartphone major claims that Samsung Exclusive Stores is encouraging consumers to maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meter between themselves. Additionally, training to follow hygiene and safety advisories have been imparted to Samsung Experience consultants, the company added.

With an aim to ensure the highest standard of hygiene is maintained across Samsung Exclusive Stores, customers will be encouraged to use digital contactless payments and swiping machines will be sanitized before being given to the customer. Besides this, Samsung notified that only a limited number of customers will be allowed within the store at any given point of time to avoid crowd formation.

Recently, Samsung has also joined hands with Benow to enable millions of consumers to buy Galaxy smartphones from their neighbourhood stores online. With this new platform, Samsung consumers will be able to browse, select, order, pay and receive their Galaxy smartphone from the comfort of their homes.  The new digital platform will also help thousands of offline retailers become part of the online ecosystem and reach out to a larger base of consumers.

Samsung has revealed that more than 20,000 offline retailers have already signed up for the digital platform that enables consumers to buy Galaxy smartphones online from their neighbourhood stores.

The HP Neverstop printer, designed with smart printing technology to boost efficiency for small to medium businesses and home printing, now comes with an extra HP Toner reload kit.

Emphasising that HP has always been at the forefront of innovations that enables its customers to work, learn and play from home seamlessly, Sunish Raghavan, Director, Printing Systems, HP Inc. India Market, said, “The HP Neverstop, with its the unique features of cost-efficient printing, easy to reload toners, offers unparallel experience of reliability, business continuity, to the SMBs, and working professionals.”

Users can avail of this offer, which is aimed at reducing the need for our customers to step out to purchase a reload, while restrictions in place, by redeeming the coupon accompanying the printers till July 31, 2020. HP claims that this free, easy-to-use HP Toner reload kit will provide our customers the capacity to print an additional 2500 pages. Besides this, the HP Neverstop printers come with an Inbox yield of 5000 pages. This means that consumers can now get up to 7500 pages along with the product redemption offer that ultimately enhances business productivity.

Moreover, consumers can easily install and setup the HP Neverstop printer and even change the toner, without the hassle of any technician visiting home and avoid contact. According to HP, “With the toner alert system and 15 sec mess free reload the device offers the convenience of self-reliance to reduce common printing interruptions.”

In addition to this, the Wi-Fi Direct variant in the multi-function and single-function devices ensures the convenience of seamless, router-less connectivity with mobile devices. Google Map users can now share location easily with Plus Codes: Know how

Have you ever wondered how will you direct someone to your current location without knowing the address of that place? Worry not, Google is there for your rescue. Claiming that nearly 2 billion people on the planet—about 25 percent of us or more —either don’t have an address or have an address that isn’t easy to locate, Google has now made it easier for anyone with an Android device to share their location using Plus Codes in Google Maps.

According to the tech giant, “People who use Google Maps might be familiar with the blue dot that represents their current location. Simply tap the blue dot to get a Plus Code for your current location that can be shared with others as easily as giving them a phone number.”

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Plus Codes are free, digital address for anywhere. It is a simple alphanumeric code which can be combined with a locality (for example: FWM8+V9, Ibadan, Nigeria). “They look like a regular address, but with a short code where a street name or number would be. Beyond using the blue dot, you can also find the Plus Code for a location by tapping and holding the map to drop a pin at a location you want a Plus Code for,” as revealed by Google. Moreover, Plus Codes are searchable on Google Maps and even Google Search.

Mind you! These digital location identifiers are free to use, available offline and can be printed on paper, posters and signs. It must be noted that the technology to generate Plus Codes is also open source. Therefore, anyone can see how the technology works and create their own applications for any use.

In time of emergency or crisis situations, Plus Codes can be especially helpful for people and organizations as help can reach you easily during such critical time. With Plus Codes, not only can people share their location quickly even without an address, but they can now do so by simply opening up Google Maps and tapping on the blue dot to view, copy and share their Plus Code location. A Plus Code can then be entered into Google Maps to help locate and navigate to that location.

Digital locations through Plus Codes means that everywhere now has an easily identifiable location, saving time and getting resources there when it really matters. Google emphasised that not having an address should no longer be a barrier to easily sharing your location with service providers, guiding them to you when you most need them.

NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission successfully lifts off: Here’s everything you must know

A new era of human spaceflights begins as for the first time in history, NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission successfully lifted off carrying astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley at 3:22 p.m. EDT Saturday from American soil in the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on the Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to dock to the space station at 10:29 a.m. EDT on May 31 (which translates to 7:59 p.m. IST).

Congratulating Robert Behnken, Douglas Hurley as well as the SpaceX and NASA teams for this significant achievement for the United States, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said, “The launch of this commercial space system designed for humans is a phenomenal demonstration of American excellence and is an important step on our path to expand human exploration to the Moon and Mars.”

The NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission is an end-to-end test flight to validate the SpaceX crew transportation system, including launch, in-orbit, docking and landing operations. This is SpaceX’s second spaceflight test of its Crew Dragon and its first test with astronauts aboard, which will pave the way for its certification for regular crew flights to the station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

Asserting that this is a dream come true for me and everyone at SpaceX, Elon Musk, chief engineer at SpaceX, said, “It is the culmination of an incredible amount of work by the SpaceX team, by NASA and by a number of other partners in the process of making this happen. You can look at this as the results of a hundred thousand people roughly when you add up all the suppliers and everyone working incredibly hard to make this day happen.”

SpaceX controlled the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy’s Launch Control Center Firing Room 4, the former space shuttle control room, which SpaceX has leased as its primary launch control center. As Crew Dragon ascended into space, SpaceX commanded the spacecraft from its mission control center in Hawthorne, California. NASA teams are monitoring space station operations throughout the flight from Mission Control Center at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Moreover, the NASA Television and the agency’s website are providing ongoing live coverage of the Crew Dragon’s trip to the orbiting laboratory. According to the space agency, “Behnken and Hurley will work with SpaceX mission control to verify the spacecraft is performing as intended by testing the environmental control system, the displays and control system, and by maneuvering the thrusters, among other things.”

NASA further added after successfully docking, the crew will be welcomed aboard the International Space Station, where they will become members of the Expedition 63 crew, which currently includes NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy. NASA will continue live coverage through hatch opening and the crew welcoming ceremony. The crew will perform tests on Crew Dragon in addition to conducting research and other tasks with the space station crew.

Three astronauts aboard the International Space Station will participate in a live NASA Television crew news conference from orbit on Monday, June 1, beginning at 11:15 a.m. on NASA TV and the agency’s website.

Behnken is the joint operations commander for the mission, responsible for activities such as rendezvous, docking and undocking, as well as Demo-2 activities while the spacecraft is docked to the space station. He was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2000 and has completed two space shuttle flights. Behnken flew STS-123 in March 2008 and STS-130 in February 2010, performing three spacewalks during each mission. On the other hand, Hurley is the spacecraft commander for Demo-2, responsible for activities such as launch, landing and recovery. He was selected as an astronaut in 2000 and has completed two spaceflights. Hurley served as pilot and lead robotics operator for both STS‐127 in July 2009 and STS‐135, the final space shuttle mission, in July 2011.

At the conclusion of the mission, Behnken and Hurley will board Crew Dragon, which will then autonomously undock, depart the space station, and re-enter Earth’s atmosphere. Upon splashdown off Florida’s Atlantic coast, the crew will be picked up by the SpaceX recovery ship and returned to the dock at Cape Canaveral.

In order to target the users looking for budget earbuds soon, Realme will arrive with Realme Buds Q in India. The company’s CMO Francis Wang took to twitter to announce the arrival of its new audio product however he did not reveal the actual launch date for the new earbuds just mentioned that the device is coming soon. He also shared the first image of the Realme Buds Q teasing that the earbuds will be accessible under Rs 2,000. 

Those who are unaware Realme Buds Q were launched in China earlier this week with a price tag of Rs  CNY 149 that comes around Rs 1,600. It is likely to come with the same price tag in India also. These earbuds are available in three colour options  Black, White, and Yellow.

Believe it or not, Mitron App is a replicated app from Pakistan known as TicTic, is the user’s data at stake?

In the midst of a fight between YouTubers and TikTok users, an IITian Shivank Agrawal took this war as an opportunity and released the Mitron app in India. The social media app is said to be an Indian version of TikTok and has also crossed 5 million downloads along with 4.5 ratings. But according to a new report Miton app has not been developed by an Indian but it has been bought from a Pakistani software developer Qboxu. 

As the popularity of the Mitron app is skyrocketing a report by News18 claims that it came across the app’s entire source code which includes its full set of features as well as its user interface. The publishers stated that the app has been purchased from a Pakistani software developer company, Qboxus. Irfan Sheikh the founder and chief executive of Oboxus revealed that he has sold the source code of their app to Mitron’s promoter for $34 that translates to Rs 2,600.

Speaking to News18, Sheikh said, “We expect our customers to use our code and build something on their own. But Mitron’s developer has taken our exact product, changed the logo and uploaded it on their store.”

Now you must be wondering if the claims are being made just because of the growing popularity of the Mitron app but he further told that he has no problem what the developer has done. According to him he paid for the script and used it, which is okay. But, the problem is with people referring to it as an Indian-made app, which is not true especially because they have not made any changes. He was further inquired about the data hosting process, Sheikh said that his company doesn’t offer the option to host user data on their server but so the Motron app chose to host their data on their own server. 

Moreover, the promoter of the Mitron app ShopKiller e-Commerce in response to News18 revealed that “We want to work in stealth mode, and didn’t want people to know us by our name. I found (the article) a little disappointing. I would have liked you to appreciate the fact that we are working hard on the app, and the reason for developing the app was just to give a ‘Make In India’ alternative to people.” However so far there is no accurate information about what is being done to the user’s data and so the e-commerce did not provide any adequate information about the Mitron app’s privacy policy, or any info regarding such fewer details about the app.

Mitron App is not the only replicated TikTok app which Qboxus offers; there is a list of more apps such as  ‘Follow’,  KidsTok and HotToks that were released in the same year 2019. The list does not end here there are multiple apps or clones of other popular apps built by the company that includes Hashgram (Instagram), Foodies Single Restaurant (Zomato) and TicTic (TikTok).

The point is the app is still being downloaded by more than 50 lakh people due to its claims that it is a Make in India app. The question arises here is that how safe the app is and whether it should be downloaded or not or if one should uninstall the app as it is being operated without any privacy policy, no clarity on the user’s data seems to involve deception.

Those who are unaware and have already downloaded the app should know that it has no privacy policy. Also, it does not ask for a lot of permissions on your device however on Google Play it claims that it needs access to your photos, internal storage, camera, microphone, other permission such as flashlight, prevent your device from sleeping, run foreground access and more. So the doubt arises why there is no privacy policy and the developer is also unknown how you can be sure that the user’s information is safe and is not being sold to an unknown source.

Samsung Galaxy Book S has been launched with a price tag of EUR 999 that translates to about Rs 84,000. The laptop will be offered in two colour metallic colour options Earthy Gold and Mercury Gray. The device is scheduled to go on sale in the UK from next month. The company has not revealed the exact date of the sale as well as the international availability of the laptop. However, it is expected to arrive soon in the other markets globally.

To recall Galaxy Book S was launched in August 2019 with a price tag of $999 that translates to Rs 75,500. Then it came with a 13.3-inch display and was powered by  Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx processor.

The company launched Galaxy Book S 13.3 inch FHD TFT LCD Display with Touch Screen Panel. Under the hood, there is an Intel Core processor with Intel Hybrid Technology. According to the company it uses Intel’s Foveros 3D stacking technology and a hybrid CPU architecture. It delivers full Windows 10 application compatibility. It will be offered with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 512GB eUFS storage. The storage can be expanded up 512GB using a microSD card.

The Galaxy Book S comes with a lightweight design with just 950g and only 11.8mm thick. It comes with a light clamshell design built with a durable metal body, so you can have the stability you need on a desk or on your lap. When using outdoors it will instantly boost the brightness to 600 nits using a two-key shortcut. 

In addition to this, there is a 1-megapixel camera that can be used for video calling. It will draw its power from a 42Wh battery that delivers up to 17 hours of video playback. It features a fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor and backlit keyboard and houses AKG’s quad stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. In terms of connectivity, there is  Wi-Fi 6, two USB Type-C ports, multi-media card reader and a 3.5mm headphones jack.

Vivo’s sub-brand iQoo launched its first 5G smartphone iQoo 3 in India earlier this year late in February. After a few months due to coronavirus impact, the company reduced the price of the smartphone last month by Rs 2,000. Now again the company is offering a discount of Rs 3,000 on the purchase of the smartphone. Now the mobile phone can be purchased at an effective price of Rs 31,990 down from Rs 34,990.

iQoo 3 4G was launched in India with a price tag of Rs 36,990 for the base 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. Whereas the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant at Rs 39,990 and the 5G variant at Rs 44,990 for the 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage. After the price revision last month the device was available at Rs 34,990, Rs 37,990 for the 4G variant. However, the 5G variant didn’t get any price cut and continued to retail at its original price.

Now the company is offering an instant discount of Rs 3,000 on all the variants of iQoo 3. This offer is applied when the transaction is made via using the ICICI credit card by purchasing iQoo 3 on EMI. This brings down the cost of the iQoo 3 to Rs  31,990 from Rs 34,990. This offer is valid on all the variants including the 5G variant. The offer can be availed via e-commerce website Flipkart as well as the company’s official website from today onwards till June 15.

Now the company has scheduled an online launch event for the release party that is going to be live-streamed via Android Developers official YouTube channel on June 3 which is next week. Apart from the Android 11 Beta launch event, the company is expected to introduce its much-awaited Pixel smartphone. The company might launch Google Pixel 4A at the same event. However, there is no official reveal from the company with regard to the Pixel device. But as per leaks and rumours the smartphone is speculated to feature a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 1080×2340 pixel resolution. It is said to be offered in a configuration of 6GB of RAM with 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM with 128Gb of onboard storage model. It is suggested to boast a 3080mAh battery supported by an 18W fast charging tech. In addition to Google Pixel 4A will come with a 12.2MP single-lens camera with LED flash and 4K video recording support. While on the front it is expected to sport an 8MP selfie camera. In terms of connectivity, the device will include 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and USB Type C port for charging.

Infinix Hot 9 and Hot 9 Pro with quad rear cameras and a 5,000mAh battery launched in India

The Transsion Holdings group has announced the launch of Infinix Hot 9 and Hot 9 Pro in India today. To recall the device was introduced by the company months back in late March. The series is the successor of Infinix Hot 8 that was released last year in 2019. The key specifications of the smartphone include a quad rear camera set up, a 6.6-inch hole punch design display and a 5000mAh battery for longer battery life.

The Chinese smartphone maker has introduced the Infinix Hot 9 series in India in a single variant. Hot 9 will be offered with a 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage with a price tag of Rs 8,499. Whereas, Infinix Hot 9 Pro can be purchased at Rs 9,499 for the 4GB of RAM with a 64GB storage model. The Hot 9 Pro will go on their first sale starting June 5 at 12 noon onwards via e-commerce website Flipkart whereas Hot 9 will is scheduled to go on sale on June 8 at 12 noon.  Both the smartphones will be offered in two colour options  Ocean Blue and Violet.

Infinix Hot 9 features a 6.6-inch HD+ IPS LCD display panel with a hole-punch display. It comes with 720×1600 pixels of resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and 90.5 per cent screen-to-body-ratio.

Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor with PowerVR GE8320 GPU for graphics combined with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android 10-based XOS 6.0. 

In terms of cameras, the smartphone sports a quad rear camera set up that includes a 13-megapixel primary camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens along with an additional low light sensor. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Coming to Infinix Hot 9 Pro, the smartphone is similar to Hot 9 in all aspects except in the imaging department. For optics, it also scones with a quad rear camera set up that includes a 48-megapixel primary lens with f/1.8 aperture. Further assisted by a 2-megapixel macro lens, a 2-megapixel, depth sensor and a low light camera sensor. The rear camera system on both hot 9 and Pro models are supported by bokeh, AI HDR, and AI 3D Beauty.

For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash support. The selfie cameras on both the phones include various modes such as AI Portrait, AI 3D Face Beauty, Wide-Selfie, and AR Animoji.

In terms of connectivity, there is Bluetooth v5, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, USB OTG, VoWiFi and a Micro USB port for charging. The sensors on the phone include G-sensor, e-compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. Both the smartphones pack a 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver up to 30 hours of 4G talk time, 130 hours of music playback, 13 hours of gaming, and 19 days of standby time.

We have always been committed to supporting creators as they turn their passion into livelihoods – because every creator is unique, that means providing a mix of monetization tools to help creators of all sizes, from the emerging to the more established. Given the uncertain circumstances many are facing today, that commitment is more important than ever. Today we’re announcing new ways for creators to make money through Instagram Live and IGTV.”

Introducing Badges in Live

The company will be introducing badges that viewers can purchase during a live video while they extend their support to their favourite creators in Live with comments, likes and donations. According to the company with badges, creators can generate income from the content they’re already creating. Badges will show up next to a person’s name throughout the live video. The fans who have purchased badges in Live will be highlighted in the comments and unlock additional features, including placement on a creator’s list of badge holders and access to a special heart.

The company will begin testing Badges next month with a small group of creators and businesses. Over the coming months, it will expand across the US, Brazil, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, and Mexico. IGTV Ads

From next week Instagram will be introducing ads in IGTV to support creators’ investment in IGTV by sharing advertising revenue with them. IGTV ads, in the beginning, are going to appear when people click to watch IGTV videos from previews in their feed. As per the company, these video ads will be built for mobile and are going to be up to 15 seconds long. The company will be testing IGTV ads throughout the year such as the ability to skip an ad – to make sure the final result works well for people, creators and advertisers. With IGTV ads the creators have another new way to earn money from the content they work so hard to produce. The company will begin testing IGTV ads with a small group of creators and advertisers in the US and will expand slowly over time as we improve the experience.

New OxygenOS updates for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T reportedly brings Dolby Atmos support for Bullets Wireless Z and Epic Games Store in India

OnePlus rolled out  OxygenOS Open Beta 13 for the OnePlus 7 series and Open Beta 3 for the OnePlus 7T series earlier this month. Recently the company released OxygenOS Open Beta 14 for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro along with  Open Beta 4 for 7T and 7T Pro with a couple of new features along with Android security patches for May 2020. Now all the devices have begun receiving latest stable updates OxygenOS 10.3.3 for the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro and 7T as well as  OxygenOS 10.0.11 for the OnePlus 7T that brings improvement to the devices. 

The new stable update brings Dolby Atmos Support for Bullets Wireless Z, support for 960fps slow-motion video for 7T and 7T Pro and Epic Games Store along with security patches for May 2020.

OxygenOS 10.3.3 update for OnePlus 7 series

As per the changelog, OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z can now be integrated with Dolby Atmos for better sound quality. To improve user’s experience the volume adjustment has been optimised along with improved battery life. Moreover, the new update also improves system stability and fixed general issues. In terms of camera capabilities, there is a newly added support for lens stain detection.

For OnePlus 7 series the company has also added Epic Games in the Game Space app. The feature is exclusively available for the Indian variants of OnePlus 7 and OnePus 7 Pro. With the integration of Epic Games, the users will now be able to easily download Fortnite and Battle Beakers. In addition to this, the update also brings Android Security Patch for May 2020.

OxygenOS 10.3.3 update for OnePlus 7T series

All the improvements, as well as features for the OnePlus 7T series, are the same as OnePlus 7series. You get  Dolby Atmos support for OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z, optimised volume adjustments, improved battery life, enhanced system stability and fixed general issues, lens stain detection and Newly added Epic Games in Game Space (exclusively available for the Indian variants only). What’s new is that all the Indian variants of the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro are getting support for slow-motion recording at 720p at 960fps. At the moment it is supported by 480fps slow-motion video at 720p. 

Like always the update will be rolled out in an incremental manner and should reach your devices in the coming days. The OxygenOS 10.3.3 update is 306MB in size.

COVID-19 scams: Google and Cybercrime Support Network are helping people identify fraudsters

Fraudsters are working overtime to take advantage of health and financial worries caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A new research has revealed that cybercriminals are likely to steal over $2 billion in 2020. With the continuation of record-high scam reports, Vint Cerf, VP and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google, said, “We’re providing support to the Cybercrime Support Network to help people identify scams before they fall victim to them through a new program called Scam Spotter, which simplifies expert advice with three golden rules.”

According to Scam Spotter program, the below given three golden rules “must be followed when you receive a suspicious phone call or message to figure out if it’s a scam:

  1. Slow it down:

Are they telling you it is urgent? Take your time and ask questions to avoid being rushed into a bad situation.

  1. Spot check:

Are they claiming to be from a specific institution? Do your own research to double check the details you’re getting.

  1. Stop! Don’t send:

Are they asking you to go to the store and get gift cards? If you think a payment feels fishy, it probably is.”

Google further added that scammers have exploited the COVID-19 pandemic with alarming speed, taking advantage of fear and uncertainty. Nearly $40-million worth fraud losses have been reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are related to a myriad of COVID-19 complaints. People are falling victim to new stories related to invented stimulus packages, phoney charities, romantic interests who now have an uncle in the ICU, a Google blog post revealed.

A recent blog post by Google highlighted a research that notified people who are in age bracket of 25-40 years are most likely to be scammed.  However, the research shows it’s seniors who stand to lose the most, with their median losses more than double the average.

“As one of the architects of the Internet and an executive sponsor of the “Greyglers,” an internal group that promotes awareness of age diversity and issues related to age, I feel obligated to try to help my fellow Americans stay safe.  It will take a cross-generational effort. Please consider sharing ScamSpotter.org the next time you talk to the seniors in your life. Maybe you can both take the quiz and compare your scores, too,” added Vint Cerf.

Google concluded by stating that it is highly important that people learn how to spot the bad actors so that they can spend their time focusing on those moments that matter.
