Samsung announces it’s all new ‘The Premiere’ 4K Ultra Short Throw laser projector

0
In order to provide a big picture cinematic experience in the comfort of one’s home, Samsung announced its all new 4K Ultra Short Throw laser projector, The Premiere, at its virtual press conference event “Life Unstoppable”. The Premiere is the new anchor product in the award-wining Lifestyle product portfolio that now transcends the display experience – without the display. Stating that TV has become the center of entertainment as consumers are spending more time at home, Jongsuk Chu, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “The Premiere re-imagines the home cinema experience with an all-new, compact design, 4K picture quality and big sound for tight spaces that can be used for any at-home activity and living room arrangements.” According to Samsung, The Premiere will be available up to 130- and 120-inch models – LSP9T and LSP7T respectively – that support a laser powered 4K picture resolution. The Premiere LSP9T is the world’s first HDR10+ certified projector with triple laser technology and delivers revolutionary contrast details as the user watches from bright to dark scenes with a peak brightness of up to 2,800 ANSI lumens. Besides this, Samsung claims that The Premiere also supports Filmmaker Mode for the first of its kind as a projector allowing users to enjoy watching movies as director intended. The smart projector comes equipped with Samsung’s Smart TV platform and experience full of streaming video apps from major content partners and mobile connectivity features such as Tap View and mirroring. Moreover, Samsung’s The Premiere comes in an all-in-one compact, space-saving design that blends into a variety of living room settings and arrangements. It can be placed just in front of the wall. It is designed for an easy-to-install set up and sports fabric finishes around its edges to harmonize different environments. The Premiere has powerful built-in woofers and Acoustic Beam surround sound, providing one of the best cinema experiences of projectors on the market today and reduces the need for additional bigger sound equipment in tighter spaces. Mind you! Samsung first launched its Lifestyle product portfolio with The Serif in 2016 and has since expanded it to the award-winning TV line-up of The Frame, The Sero and The Terrace. By enhancing elements that speak to the consumer passion points for art, interior designs and the mobile experience, Samsung’s Lifestyle product line-up functions have evolved to become a central hub for a wide array of lifestyles. It is worth noting that Samsung will begin to rollout The Premiere globally starting from the US, Europe, Korea, and other regions later this year. Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones review: Sony has outdone themselves

Sony is known for making exceptional audio and video products. The latest to come from the brand is Sony WF-XB700, which falls in their Extra Bass series of gadgets. These are truly wireless headphones, which have come to India at a price of Rs 11,990. So, are they worth the buy? We put them to the test to know. This is our review of the Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones. Design Before we head over to how great these headphones are in the sound department, lets quickly talk about its form factor. Sony WF-XB700 are not like the usual wireless audio earplugs you get in the market. Apple had created the benchmark, but Sony has taken it a step above. These are built to perfection and its two-tier (Tri hold structure) design makes sure the earplugs stay fit in any ear crater.Sony-WF-XB700-1 Available in two colours Blue and Black (the one we are reviewing), these have no rough edges. The top part of the Sony WF-XB700 has a textured feel for better handgrip, while the lower part has a smooth plastic running all around. This is good as they are not harsh on the ears. Both the audio earplugs have a single button on them, 1 LED each and charging connectors at the bottom. Talking about which, these get placed easily in the charging case that comes with them.Sony-WF-XB700-charging-case As they are magnetic, one can easily place them in the capsule type charging case and lug them. They are very light and easy to carry and can fit easily in your trouser pocket or hand clutch. The charging case is robust and has a charging LED inside that can be seen once you pop open the case. For charging the case, users can do so by the USB Type-C port that is placed at the back. One thing to notice here, there is no charger in the box. Overall, the built quality of both, the case and the Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones is premium.Sony-WF-XB700-case Performance Let us move to its resonance. Before that let us get the features set out of the way. The Sony WF-XB700 can last for 18 hours, as the company claims. On our test bench, we got over 17 hours in total (8.5 hours + another 8.5 hours with the charging case). The company also claims you get 60 minutes of playback in 10 minutes of charge. When put to the test we got over 55 minutes, which is quite cool. This is great especially when you are about to hit the gym and you forgot to charge the headphones. These work on Bluetooth 5.0 and we must say they are great in the audio department. Sony has done a fabulous job at making Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones. We were amazed at how such a small piece of equipment can supply such beats. The bass is inch-perfect; highs are super clear and same is the case with Mids. Lows are not too bad either, but since these are Bass rich we were not expecting them to be as great. We played music via popular apps such as Amazon Music, YouTube and even watched videos on Netflix. We were not disappointed at all. Gaming is another department we tested these out, even though they are not built for gaming, we did enjoy PUBG mobile with it. The sound is crisp and clear. We were able to hear the enemy clearly, but yes there is a slight lag from shot to sound. Which is expected as they are not built for gaming, but for music and audio. Google Assistant is also supported on the Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones. Over that, one can make phone calls with them with ease. Users can use left earpiece button for volume and right earpiece for calls, playing and pausing music. Since we are on the topic, the voice quality here is nice too and with the microphones on the Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones, the other side was able to hear us quite nicely. Over that, these earplugs are IPX4 waterproof. Though we did not dunk them in water, we did take them out for a jog and the sweat did not do anything to them. Also, they stay fit in the ear. Just place them and twist them for a comfort fit so that they do not drop out. Not once during our usage did we feel they are coming out or are falling off. For various ear cavity types, users also get additional silicon tips (right in the box). Weight of just 8 grams per earplug also works in favour of Sony WF-XB700.Sony-WF-XB700 Verdict All in all, the Sony WF-XB700 wireless headphones are great at what the company promises them to be at, which is audio, bass and premium looks. We love how they look and how such a small piece of audio equipment can blast such punchy bass. These are great for gym-goers, people who want to listen to music or watch movies wirelessly. Price is definitely on the higher side, but for what these nifty earplugs can do, it is worth the spend. Pros: Great looks Good design Excellent sound Cons: Price could have been cheaper Lows not very audible For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau now takes up additional role of Senior VP at OPLUS

0
In what is being reported as an adjustment of organizational structure, Pete Lau (originally known as Liu Zuohu), who is the CEO of OnePlus, will also be playing an additional role as Senior Vice President of OPLUS- the brand synergy between Oppo and OnePlus. As per a report by Android Authority, Pete Lau, who remains committed to his role as CEO of OnePlus, has taken on an additional role of Senior Vice President and chief product experience officer for OPLUS in order to look after the product and planning development. Mind you! Pete Lau had started his career at Oppo. In 2013, he eventually co-created OnePlus along with Carl Pei as a subsidiary of the Oppo. However, what remains a mystery is that BBK Electronics, which technically oversee OnePlus, Oppo alongside with other brands, has any association with OPLUS. However, another report by XDA Developers has notified that Pete Lau has quashed rumours about connection between BBK and OPLUS. Furthermore, it is believed that things could become transparent only after background funding and corporate hierarchy check of OnePlus and its subsidiary brands. Besides, time will reveal what future holds for Oppo and OnePlus fans with this latest move. Last month, Oppo has launched the Oppo Reno4 Pro smartphone and Oppo Watch Series in India to let the users explore the ‘Sense the Infinite’ possibilities. While Oppo Reno4 Pro would be available for Rs 34,990, Oppo Watch Series would come with a price tag of Rs 19,990 for the 46mm variant and Rs 14,990 for the 41mm variant. Esteemed for its premium design and advanced technology, Oppo Reno4 Pro strikes the perfect chord amongst young trendsetters with its 90Hz 3D Borderless Sense Screen and 65W SuperVOOC 2.0. The smartphone is designed to deliver an ultra-smooth, premium and enriching experience. On the other hand, Oppo Watch, which is the world’s first smartwatch powered by a dual-curved AMOLED display, is also the perfect accessory for easy switching between professional to personal seamlessly with GoogleTM apps and services. Update: As per an official statement issued by Realme, “Pete is newly designated as SVP of OPLUS, taking care of part of the corporation business. This doesn’t mean that he is leading relevant businesses in all brands. Please note his new designation has nothing to do with Realme. OPPO, Realme and OnePlus share a common investment, which is mainly related to certain supply resources. Furthermore, Realme is operating independently in its full capacity and takes 100 percent ownership of its product portfolio and R&D.” For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. How to live stream sports online at low or no cost

Watching live sports from around the world can be a costly affair. Especially if you’re subscribed to one of the many expensive satellite TV packages. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be that way – there are ways to enjoy your favourite live sporting events at a very low cost – sometimes even for free! In this article, we will explore some of the venues that you can use to watch live sports without paying an arm and a leg. You will find several good options – from betting sites to big brand broadcasters – so make sure you read this article to the end to learn about the best options for you. Low-Cost Sports Live Streaming Since the arrival of the internet, the monopoly of satellite TV providers has been challenged by better and cheaper online options. While satellite TV has become more expensive and the quality of their selection has dwindled, online live streaming services have flourished. The best thing about online sports streaming platforms is that you don’t have to commit to yearlong subscription models that will cost you hundreds of dollars. You can be on for one month and unsubscribe the next month. It’s highly convenient and cost-efficient for the user. So what are the best low-cost live streaming options on the market? Well, the answer is not as clear as you might have hoped. It really depends on the type of sports you want to live stream. If American sports is what you’re looking for ESPN is probably the best option for you. You can access their live streaming service called ESPN Player at just $13.99 per month. If you’re more into football and other sports from around the world, Laola1 may be the option you’re looking for: this Austrian-based streaming platform offers tons of European soccer and plenty of other events. The pricing model is competitive and comes in at just €4.99 per month. Free Sports Live Streaming There are very few sports live streaming sites that are both free and legal to use. After all, if a live streaming site is free to use, how do they make money? Usually, they make money by displaying ads or even by selling your data to a third party. There are thousands of illegal sports live streaming sites floating around on the web.It goes without saying that we do not recommend using illegal live streaming sites like that.  If you land on an illegal sports live streaming site, we recommend that you leave the site immediately. So how does one find a legal and free live streaming service? One of our favourite free and legal streaming options is to use an online betting site. A betting site, you ask – how does one stream live sport for free on a betting site? Some betting sites such as Bet365 and 1xBet offer FREE sports live streaming to all their active players. The only requirement is that you deposit some money into your betting account. The amount you deposit is not a payment per se, and you can withdraw it again at any time when you’re done using the streaming service. On betting sites with live streaming such as Bet365 you can watch more than 200,000 sporting events each year. That’s an average of almost 550 sporting events per day. Events range from major football tournaments such as the Champions League to tennis, golf, cricket, badminton and many other sports from around the world. And all of this sports live streaming can be accessed at absolutely zero cost. What’s not to like about that? 0
Despite the critical challenges owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, India’s smartphone shipments in the premium segment (>₹25,000) grew 18 percent YoY in H1 2020. A CMR report has revealed that Samsung secured the top spot in the premium smartphone segment with 37 percent market share, followed by Apple with 26 percent share and OnePlus at a distant third with 15 percent share. “Owing to the pandemic, H1 2020 was a tough period for the overall smartphone industry in general, with multiple challenges. However, the premium smartphone segment was one of the least affected segments. In fact, the segment grew owing to strong consumer demand and good supply-side dynamics,” said to Anand Priya Singh, Analyst – Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR. Samsung led the premium smartphone market, with 37 percent market share majorly to its success of Galaxy A71 and A51 which contributed 38 percent and 13 percent respectively of its shipments, and a YoY growth of 56 percent. This was made possible through good supply side dynamics, attractive discounts and smart channel strategies. Samsung also started manufacturing its flagship Galaxy S20 series in India during this quarter. On the other hand, Apple grew by 14 percent YoY and with a 26 percent market share. The iPhone 11 continued to garner some good market response in the initial part of the year. On the other hand, the all-new iPhone SE 2020 is on track to repeat the exceptional performance of iPhone 11. It captured 8 percent market share of the total premium smartphones shipped during Q2. Besides Samsung and Apple, OnePlus was placed third with 15 percent market share, with the newly launched OnePlus 8 contributing to a majority of its shipments. According to CMR report, In H1 2020, the first wave of 5G smartphones debuted in the premium smartphone segment.  Many new OEMs made some strategic moves into the premium segment, including the likes of Xiaomi, Vivo, realme, OPPO and Motorola. Stating that consumer demand in the premium smartphone segment continued to remain high, and, in fact, fuelled the market growth in H1 2020, Amit Sharma, Analyst – Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, said, “This bodes well for H2 2020, and, especially, in the run-up to the all-important festive season. Beyond the incumbents – including Samsung and Apple, aspirational premium brands will seek to make in-roads into the premium segment.” The Premium Smartphone segment (Rs 25,000 – Rs 50,000) is a niche, but hyper-competitive segment, where more OEMs, including the likes of OPPO and Xiaomi are currently competing for greater mind share, and brand share. This segment accounted for 5 percent of the total smartphone shipments in H1 2020.  Samsung Galaxy A71 was the star in this segment, contributing to 19 percent in this segment. Moreover, CMR report revealed that the Super Premium Smartphone segment (Rs 50,000 – Rs 1, 00,000) saw Apple on top with 56 percent market share, while Samsung was placed second with 34 percent, and OnePlus at third position with 4 percent market share. The Apple iPhone 11 contributed to be the bestseller here, accounting for 39 percent of the shipments. This segment accounted for ~2 percent of the total smartphone shipments in H1 2020. During the H1 2020, the Uber Premium Smartphone segment (Rs 1,00,000 and above) saw Apple with 67 percent market share, while Samsung was placed a distant second with 30 percent market share. Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max contributed to around 40 percent of the shipments in this segment. During the upcoming festive season, India’s premium smartphone segment is potentially slated to grow 20 percent YoY in H2 2020, with many new device offerings anticipated from various OEMs. Indian consumers will stand to benefit from the intense competition and offerings across online and offline channels. Samsung and Apple will be in a dead heat in H2 2020 and potentially slated to garner 28-29 percent market share each. Beyond the incumbents, the new premium segment aspirants, including the likes of Xiaomi and OPPO will seek to shake the turf. The device is right now available for reservations in the US and will be offered in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colours. The company has also collaborated with the New York fashion house Thom Browne to make available the limited Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne Edition. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 specifications The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 offers a 7.6-inch Infinity-O Display that is the main screen similarly the cover screen is a 6.2-inch Infinity-O Display. Whereas the Samsung Galaxy Fold has a 7.3-inch primary display and a 4.6-inch cover display. According to the company, the upcoming model will be featuring the most advanced flexible display. For this, the company has used Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) which comes on the Z Flip protection over a plastic covering addressing the issue which made the company delay the shipment of its first-generation Galaxy Fold model. While the hinges have been re-engineered which is now just like the Z Flip which has a CAM Mechanism allowing it to open it up at multiple angles which is not present on the existing model. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be featuring a 120Hz refresh rate panel for a smoother experience than Fold which is an upgrade over the standard 60Hz refresh rate available on its predecessor In terms of cameras, there will be a triple camera setup at the back whereas the displays also include sensors for taking selfies. The camera details have not been revealed. In addition to this, it is backed up by a 4,500mAh Dual Intelligent Battery. Oppo A12 Review: A stylish performer

Oppo A12 is the China-based company’s budget smartphone that has been launched in India recently. The smartphone falls under the Rs 10,000 price segment. We spent some time with it and today we are here with the review of this smartphone. Let’s get to know how it stands against other devices in the market, as there are a variety of handsets being offered by some major brands in the country in this segment. If you are also looking to replace your old mobile phone, but your budget is low or are confuses, which one should you go for then read our Oppo A12 review and decide.

Design and Display

Design is the foremost and most important aspect of any smartphone. It is as important as the gadgets’ specifications and features. Half of the battle is won if the manufactures manage to fascinate the buyers with its innovative design as everyone wants a good-looking phone. On unboxing, you get Oppo A12 donning a beautiful diamond-cut textured surface. And yes, this design makes it unique from what is being offered by other brands in the market.  Oppo A12 Review Though the rear panel is made up of plastic, still it looks premium and you cannot stop ogling over it. The best part about the textured finish is that it makes it less slippery, smudge and fingerprints free. There is a horizontally placed dual rear camera module with an LED flash. The fingerprint sensor has been set just above the Oppo’s branding. Oppo A12 is being offered in two colour options. The review unit we received is the Black version, but you can also go for the Blue variant if you want a more vibrant colour.  Interestingly, the front of this mobile is similar to the ones we have seen on Samsung’s smartphones. Here also, you get a simple dewdrop style display. Though it has slim bezels but there is a fat chin. On the left side of the phone, there is a SIM tray and volume rocker button while the power button sits on the right side of the phone. At the bottom, there is a speaker grille, a Type-C port and an audio jack. Even though there is a 4,320 mAh battery inside this mobile, Oppo A12 is still light in weight thanks to the plastic body. Oppo A12 Review For some, the display might seem smaller but it fits very well in the hands. You get a 6.22-inch IPS LCD panel with an 89 percent screen-to-body ratio running 720×1,520 pixels of resolution. The display offers 450 nits of peak brightness and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display panel is bright when indoors, but its performance under bright sunlight is not satisfactory. The colours just wash out. When it comes to watching movies, shows or playing games on it, it did not fail. The device comes with Night Shield so that your eyes don’t strain when used during low lighting conditions. On the flip side, there is no Widevine L1 DRM so you cannot enjoy HD streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Bear in mind, in this price the display is good.

Performance and Camera

Oppo A12 is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, which is equal to Snapdragon 665. This is available in multiple memory storage combinations of 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. The memory can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.  If you are going to play heavy games such as PUBG or Call of Duty and others then you should better think of getting a phone with a better GPU. Though you can run these games on low to medium graphics settings, it does get heated up after prolonged gaming sessions. Here are the benchmark results of the phone, which we took to check the performance of Oppo A12: Geekbench 5 CPU Single-Core Score: 166 Multi-Core Score- 895 Oppo A12 was good at multitasking and handles day to day tasks easily. The device runs on ColorOS 6.1 skinned on top of Android 9 Pie out of the box. It comes with a lot of unwanted apps, which we hardly ever use. But these can be later removed from the phone by uninstalling them. Switching between the apps is smooth, however, the phone seemed to be a bit slow or less responsive when scrolling for apps or checking out Instagram or Facebook feeds. This might be due to a lower refresh rate screen. Also, we were advertisements are part of the package. That pop up now and then while using the phone and can be a nuisance. As soon as you turn on the data connection or Wi-Fi the ads come pouring in. Oppo A12 Review Next, we tested the performance of the camera and before we begin, we would like to state that Oppo A12 comes with a dual rear camera set up that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture.  We need to point one thing out here, while others are offering a 48-megapixel camera sensor in this segment you get a 13-megapixel main sensor on the Oppo A12. Oppo A12 OVer that, the camera app misses out on some of the important features and modes such a wide-angle, telephoto and macro lens. It cannot even record slow-mo and 4K videos. The camera app is standard and it only has a portrait option with few more camera modes such as Panorama, Expert, Time-Lapse and Sticker. The primary sensor is supported by 6x zoom while the depth sensor uses AI, which automatically enhances and beautifies the portrait images. But here is the kicker, the primary sensor surprised us with its high-quality images. The images stood stunning while maintaining perfect colours, contrast and details. Pictures shot in good daylighting are clear with good level contrast and colour exposure. While the low light images were also fine with less visible grains and noise effect. On the other side, the selfie camera is also good. Selfies are clear with no over beautification. The images turned out natural with real colours so you get natural-looking selfies that Oppo A12 can offer in this price range. As we said earlier the phone cannot record 4K videos. A video can be recorded here at Full HD resolution at 30FPS. The video recorded lacks stability otherwise is fine. We would have wanted 60FPS for smoother-looking videos. The unlocking of the mobile has been made easy with a fingerprint scanner on the back along with face unlock system. We felt that the rear fingerprint sensor is comparatively quick to unlock the smartphone than the face unlock feature. On the battery front, A12 is backed by a 4,230 mAh battery that is bundled with a standard 10W charger. The battery runs long thanks to the smaller screen, which automatically turns down the power consumption when needed. For us, the battery lasted for a day and a half. But if you watch a lot of movies or are into gaming, browsing the internet and YouTube then the phone can run for a full day.

Verdict

The features and the performance of Oppo A12 do justice to the price under Rs 10,000 category. However, bear in mind the competitors are offering a bigger, better display with higher MP cameras and the latest Android 10 OS. Nonetheless, for those looking for a stylish smartphone in this price range, this smartphone is recommended. Pros: Looks premium Lightweight Good battery life Cons: Runs Android 9 Cameras could have been better For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
