10 PUBG Mobile Mistakes to Avoid in 2019 (Pubg Tips and Tricks)

PUBG Mobile is among the most popular and addictive games today. Everyone wants to get the chicken dinner that the last standing man on the game gets. But not everyone can.

Here, we have listed down the mistakes that are keeping you away from getting your chicken dinner in PUBG Mobile. Take a look:

Common PubG Mobile Mistakes to Avoid when Playing PUBG Mobile

Long Range Shots Going Wrong

PUBG Mobile mistakes

This is a very important thing that you need to learn about playing PUBG Mobile.

If a long-range shot goes wrong, you won’t get the kill and at the same time, you will be disclosing your location, making it easy for someone else to kill you.

So make sure you practice them enough to get them right. If you think that you aren’t comfortable with the gun you are using, then avoid long-range shots.

You go to loot to an unpopular place

PUBG Mobile mistakes

The places on PUBG Mobile‘s map that are popular for loots are popular for a reason.

Try and stick to these. If you don’t do that and go to an unpopular place, chances are that you may not get very good loot.

This may make you look for a gun for the most part of the game and we all know how suicidal that is.

You are not paying attention to the Blue Zone

PUBG Mobile mistakes 3

Being out of the Blue Zone in PUBG Mobile may be one among the deadliest mistakes that you can make.

If you intend to be one among the last standing people, just pay attention to where the Blue Zone is and keep yourself inside it rather than outside.

The safe area, that is displayed as a White Circle, also falls under the Blue Zone.

You are not prioritizing threats correctly

PUBG Mobile mistakes 4

If multiple enemy teams show up, it can be hard to get out alive. But it is hard. Not impossible.

The best thing that you can do here is judge according to your position which one can be dealt with easily. Address them before you go to kill others.

You may also need to relocate yourself so that you can kill some enemies that then get a better position to kill others or for that matter, just escape.

Not being quick about looting

PUBG Mobile mistakes 5

Like we have mentioned earlier, not looting correctly at the right time can be suicidal. If you don’t refresh your loot timely, that is just as worse.

You need to pick up the right weapons whenever you have the chance in order to get your chicken dinner.

Driving too late

PUBG Mobile mistakes 6

Sometimes, when you are heading too late in the game towards a particular circle, you will not have enough time to look at your surroundings.

However, those around you may be tracking your location and it will be easy for them to kill you when you are running with your guard down.

Attacking enemies who are at better positions

PUBG Mobile mistakes 7

Your position in PUBG Mobile can be a factor that decides a lot in the game. If you get too ambitious and attack someone in a better position, you would most likely be inviting trouble.

In case you miss them, they’ll get to know of your exact location and since they are at a better position, they will definitely be able to kill you. We recommend you to avoid this.

Taking a stupid shot just to be unexpected

PUBG Mobile mistakes 8

We all know that unexpected shots work the best in PUBG Mobile. However, just to take an unexpected shot, make sure you don’t do something extremely farfetched or stupid.

It will only get you killed. It’s one thing to jump out of the window of the building you are hiding in and going behind your enemy’s back to kill him.

But it’s another thing to do the same when other enemies may be standing in close proximity too.

You are playing without a proper goal

PUBG Mobile mistakes 9

A number of players who play PUBG say that play to kill. However, that is not the goal of playing PUBG Mobile. The goal is to survive, preferably till the end.

If you play only thinking about killing, and not about saving yourself, you won’t get past for too long as you wouldn’t spend any time strategizing.

Scared to fight

PUBG Mobile mistakes 10

A lot of beginners face this problem. If you drop down and you don’t really know what to do, chances are that you will most likely be killed.

If you are a beginner, practice. Learn to use all the available weapons well and make use of them. Remember, you either fight to survive or you get scared and you die.

These are the best Pubg Tips and Tricks which help you to play the advance game in very lesser time.

The report about these new postpaid plans first came in Telecom Talk.

In an unrelated piece of news, Vodafone has launched a new unlimited plan that costs Rs 299. The plans come with unlimited voice calling and has a validity of 70 days. It also has 3G/4G data and 1,000 SMS. The data and SMS in this pack are meant for the entire validity of the plan and not just for daily quota.

Vodafone’s new recharge plan is also not available for all telecom circles currently. The company’s new Rs 299 plan is listed under the ‘Unlimited’ section of the ‘Best Prepaid Recharge Plans’ on Vodafone India’s website.

This is the new release date of the Samsung Galaxy Home smart speaker

Samsung Galaxy Home has a lot in common with the now cancelled Apple AirPower mat. Both the products were shown to us once, managed to create a stir and make us wait for them, and have had multiple release deadlines. The difference is, of course, that one got cancelled and we are still hopeful for the launch of the other. In the latest development, Samsung CEO Hyun-suk Kim has said that Galaxy Home will ship sometime in Q3 2019.

Speaking to The Korea Herald, Kim said, “The Galaxy Home speaker, which will be the centre of Samsung’s home appliances, is planned to be launched in mid-second half of the year.” According to the report, some other executives of the company clarified that this actually means Q3 2019.

We should mention that Samsung Galaxy Home was initially announced in August 2018 when the South Korean technology giant unveiled the Galaxy Note 9. The product has since then been showcased many times, however, the company has not fully released it yet. Samsung’s DJ Koh had also promised that the Bixby smart speaker would start shipping in April. Needless to say, the company missed that deadline.

But that’s not all. Technology website The Verge had also spoken to Samsung representatives in May this year and they said that the company was “planning to launch Galaxy Home in the first half of 2019.” This indicated that the speaker should have been out by the end of June, however, that is not happening either.

We should mention that Q3 ends on September 30th for Samsung. Assuming that there would not be any further delays, Samsung Galaxy Home should be released prior to that. Samsung can actually make use of the August event that it holds to launch the Galaxy Note phablet. Considering that this year Samsung will be launching its Galaxy Note 10 phablets, it would only make the event extra special to see the Galaxy Home smart speaker be launched there too. If the company wants Samsung Galaxy Note to be in the spotlight during its August event, it can launch the Galaxy Home smart speaker at the IFA 2019.

Some reports also suggest that the smart speaker would not launch alone as the company will also be unveiling a Galaxy Home Mini, that has recently been passed through the FCC. This means that Samsung could various sizes of speakers in future.

Google Maps is getting 3 new India-centric features for a better navigation in cities

To help its Indian users, Google had added India-specific features on Google Maps time and again. Now, Google Maps is getting three new navigation features for Indian users who use public transportation to get around the city. The three new features Google Maps is getting for the Indian users are – Real-time bus travel information, Live Train status and mixed-mode navigation option. Each new feature aims to make the user who use public transportation to travel around the city easier.

The three new Google Maps features for the Indian users and what they do are listed below:

Real-time bus travel information

With this new feature, users will be able to see the delay they might face when travelling by bus. It will show the live traffic status of the route the bus has taken and show the ETA according to the traffic conditions. In case the bus is delayed, the user will get a message on their smartphones with red colour. The message will tell them the regular commute time and the time that will be extended due to the traffic in the bus’ route. However, if there is no delay and the bus in on time and then the user will receive a green message telling them that they are not late. The new feature will initially be launched in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Mysore, Pune, and Surat.

Live Train Status

Google Maps now has made it easier for the Indian users to be aware of the trains they will be travelling in. This new feature will work as its name suggests, it will tell the users the live status of a train and check if it is delayed. But it should be noted that it will work only in the case of a long-distance train journey. According to Google, this new feature was developed in collaboration with the ‘Where is my Train’ application which was acquired by the company in 2018.

Mixed-mode navigation

This new feature comes with an auto-rickshaw recommendation and it is extremely useful for users who switch between a bus and auto or metro and auto to reach their destination. This feature of Google Maps will let the user know when they should take an auto-rickshaw and what station (bus or metro) will be the most suitable to take either local transports such as bus, metro or local train. Other than that, this feature will also tell the user the estimated fare of the auto-rickshaw and the departure of the public transport. Initially, the mixed-mode navigation will be available for users of Delhi and Bengaluru, it will also reach other Indian cities as well in the future.

Currently, the three new features for the Google Maps is not live either in a stable or beta version but it will soon roll out in the coming future.

Fossil Sport smartwatch with Google’s Wear OS launched in India

Technology giant Google’s Wear OS, which is popularly also known as Android Wear, has not had a very smooth past. Initially, it was launched at Google’s united platform for smartwatches and other wearable devices, the platform has seen a drop in its popularity over the last few years because Samsung‘s Tizen-based Galaxy Gear series and Apple Watch series have garnered a lot of appreciation and the companies’ loyalists stick to their wearables. However, some smartwatch makers continue to sell watches that come with Wear OS by Google. The latest to join this list is Fossil Sport smartwatch and that has been launched in India at Rs 17,995.

The Fossil Sport smartwatch was initially launched in November 2018 and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC, which was announced by the American chipmaker last year. While the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC was meant to revive the Wear OS smartwatch platform, we haven’t seen too many manufacturers go back to Google’s Wear OS platform. Fossil is among the few companies that have launched a new Wear OS product in India. The company has today launched its Fossil Sport smartwatch in the country today and the wearable has also gone on sale in India.

The processor is also said to enhance the battery life and Fossil Sport is claimed to last more than a day. However, the company has also added that your usage would make a difference. The newest offering by Fossil is available in two sizes. While one is 41mm in size, the other one is 43mm. The smartwatch comes with interchangeable watch straps that are 18mm and 22mm in size respectively.

Coming to the sensors, Fossil sport comes with a heart rate sensor, GPS, an altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and microphone. The Fossil smartwatch is compatible with Android as well as iOS and can be connected to various devices using Bluetooth. The newest offering by the company is available to buy online as well as offline via various channels.

You can also buy it from various major retailers and Fossil stores in the country. Fossil Sport is a good option to consider for anyone who owns an Android smartphone. However, it goes against the Samsung Gear lineup that is also compatible on a wide range of Android devices. Only time will tell if Fossil’s new offering is able to survive along with other smartwatches in the market.

Microsoft to get an Xbox ‘desktop experience’ for Windows 10

Software giant Microsoft is all set to change the way its Xbox app works on Windows 10. Previously, the app was the primary way of accessing the Xbox friends lists, messages and party features on a PC. Now, the company has updated the Xbox app on Windows 10 and renamed it as “Xbox Console Companion.” Microsoft has also sent an update message to users that says, “This app is being renamed to Xbox Console Companion to be a dedicated app for your Xbox console’s features and settings.”

At the same time, Microsoft is also teasing that it has other plans for the Xbox app on Windows 10. The message by the software giant further said, “A new desktop experience is coming soon!” However, as of now, it is not clear exactly what the new desktop experience will be like. The company recently also updated its Game Bar on Windows 10 and it is worth noticing that the Game Bar is now on a full overlay similar to Nvidia’s GeForce Experience or Discord.

There are also a number of widgets that have been added to Xbox features including LFG, messages, and friends. In a way, this also makes the Xbox app irrelevant.

A number of Xbox fans also assumed that the company would close down its app on Windows 10. However, Microsoft’s plans seem to be different than that. It seems like the company has plans to create a different desktop app for Xbox that users will be able to access via PC. The company’s gaming chief Phil Spencer has admitted last year that the software giant has a “ton of work to do on Windows”. He also added that this work was meant for PC gamers.

We should mention that E3 gaming event is right around the corner and because of that, it looks like we would get to hear more about the company’s plans for PC gamers soon.

Recently, Microsoft also announced that its Xbox Game Pass subscription service is coming to its Windows platform. This subscription will come with over 100 games from more than 75 developers, which is a lot more compared to fewer than 20 titles that can be accessed via Xbox Game Pass on PC. This obviously means that Microsoft has signed deals with other new developers too.

As of now, there is no word on which games will be made available and how much the subscription will cost. There is also no news on when exactly the new service will be available. Microsoft has added that it will be announcing more details about the Game Pass for PC at the E3 which is scheduled for next month.

How to authorize and deauthorize iTunes on Windows 10 and MacOS?

Apple may have disintegrated iTunes into three separate apps, but the company has confirmed to a technology website that no changes will be made to the service on the Windows platform.

While iTunes on iPhones, iPads, iPods or other iOS-based smart devices has been split into Music, Podcasts, and TV, the service will continue to work in the same way on Windows, according to Ars Technica.

To make iTunes run on Windows 10 OS, you need to authorize your account. Here we are listing down the ways by which you can authorize and de-authorize a PC running on Windows 10 or macOS:

How to authorize iTunes on Windows 10:

  1. First, you need to download the iTunes application for Windows 10. The app comes in 32-bit and 64-bit variant so you will have to download according to your PC type.
  2. Then, sign in or sign up using your Apple ID.
  3. Then, go to Account on the menu bar or press Ctrl+B from the keyboard.
  4. Then, select Authorizations and then select Authorize this computer.
  5. After that you need to enter your password and click the Authorize. This will authorize the computer to use iTunes on it.

How to deauthorize iTunes on Windows 10:

  1. Deauthorizing the iTunes is also a simple task. First, you need to open iTunes and then sign in using your Apple ID which you used during authorizing the PC.
  2. Then you need to go to Account or press Ctrl+B from the keyboard.
  3. After that, go to Authorizations and then click on Deauthorize this Computer.
  4. After that, enter your password and the press the Deauthorize. The Windows 10 running PC will be deauthorized.

For those unaware, Apple iTunes now exists as three different apps. The company announced at its WWDC 2019 event that going forward, the iTunes app will exist as Music, Podcasts, and TV apps. This change has been a long-awaited one.

While iTunes is working as it was on Windows, there is no word on till when this will remain intact. It is highly unlikely that Apple will just leave one platform with the older version of iTunes, especially considering that scores of users find it very problematic to use iTunes.

However, if you were having trouble authorizing or deauthorizing the service on Windows, now you know how to go about it, although there is no guarantee till when this will come handy.

Vodafone Rs 299 prepaid recharge plan with 70-day validity launched

Telecommunications major Vodafone has launched a new unlimited plan for customers that is priced at Rs 299. The new recharge plans come with unlimited voice calling and has a validity of 70 days. The latest Vodafone prepaid plan also comes with 3G/4G data and has 1,000 SMS. It is worth mentioning that the data and SMS that you get in this pack are meant for the entire validity of 70 days. They are not meant as a daily quota.

It should also be pointed out that Vodafone’s new recharge plan is not available for all telecom circles currently. The company’s new Rs 299 plan is listed under the ‘Unlimited’ section of the ‘Best Prepaid Recharge Plans’ that are available on the official website of Vodafone India.

It is clear that the Rs 299 prepaid plan of Vodafone is aimed at users who are inclined towards a prepaid plan that offers more validity. The plan is also meant for those who prefer to have predominantly unlimited local and STD benefits.

As we mentioned earlier, the Rs 299 recharge prepaid plan is not available for all the telecom circles in the country. On the company’s website, the availability of Vodafone’s new recharge plan is found in only a few telecom circles including Mumbai, Gujarat, and Punjab. The new recharge plan by Vodafone was first spotted by Telecom Talk.

Subscribers who are looking for an unlimited prepaid recharge plan in the same price bracket but want more allowance can go for another recently launched offer that is priced at Rs 229. This offer comes with 2GB of daily data, unlimited calling, 100 messages per day, and has a validity of 28 days. So those who are looking for a plan with more validity can opt for Rs 299 plan, and the ones who are looking for more allowance can go for Rs 229 one.

We should mention that Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio are constantly coming up with lucrative offers for their customers. In order to compete with each other, they are always getting cheaper and affordable plans for their consumers.

The drastic fall in the prices of the telecom industry has happened only after Reliance Jio forayed into it with dirt cheap recharge offers which offered unlimited calling and SMS benefits. The company also started offering 4G data at rock bottom prices and this changed the game completely for other players. They had to cut down prices of their plans to in order to survive.

Samsung joins hands with AMD to make its own GPU for smartphones

0

American semi-conductor maker AMD has been making headlines lately. Earlier, AMD’s GPU was being used in the newly launched Apple Mac Pro and now it will license its mobile graphics design and intellectual property (IP) to Samsung for use in its mobile devices. For this, the South Korean technology giant has formed a multiyear partnership with AMD. Earlier, Samsung used Mali GPU in its smartphones but with this partnership, it will be using the AMD’s graphics IP and graphics technologies to stay ahead of the competition. The use of AMD’s graphics and technologies is said to increase its performance and offer a better gaming experience. However, the companies haven’t shared the conditions and the details of this partnership publically yet.

It should be noted that Samsung and AMD’s partnership might be focused towards the gaming performance of the flagship smartphones of the handset maker. Since gaming smartphones are also slowly making their way in the Indian market, there is a huge possibility that mobile gaming will soon see a rise. Samsung has made its position stronger for this by partnering with AMD.

According to the press release shared by the companies, the partnership between Samsung and AMD will be limited to mobile devices only. Although Samsung also makes laptops, but this partnership has nothing to do with it. According to the deal, AMD will license the custom graphics IP which is based on the earlier announced RDNA graphics architecture to Samsung.

Inyup Kang, president of Samsung Electronics’ S.LSI Business said, “As we prepare for disruptive changes in technology and discover new opportunities, our partnership with AMD will allow us to bring groundbreaking graphics products and solutions to market for tomorrow’s mobile applications. We look forward to working with AMD to accelerate innovations in mobile graphics technologies that will help take future mobile computing to the next level.”

It should be noted that AMD’s new RDNA graphics architecture was introduced earlier in May 2019. The new architecture will be used in various future GPUs of AMD and it will also be used in the upcoming Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well. The new architecture is considerably faster than the previous generation of graphics architecture AMD used.

Currently, most smartphones use the GPU made either from Qualcomm or ARM, both of whose GPUs are used in most of the Android devices. However, Apple uses its own designed GPUs after it broke ties with the Imagination Technologies in 2017. Now that Samsung has partnered with AMD, there is a huge chance that it is planning to develop its own GPU using AMD’s help and expertise. Once it launches in the market, it will compete with the likes of Qualcomm, ARM and Apple itself.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Cardinal Red renders get leaked: Take a look

South Korean technology giant Samsung this year launched its Galaxy S10e in bright and punchy colours like Canary Yellow and Prism Green. Of course, there were some conventional colours that the handset was made available in including Black, Blue and White shares. Now, some reports have surfaced online that claim that Samsung Galaxy S10e will soon be available in a bright Red colour and that variant will be called as ‘Cardinal Red’.

We should mention that this is the same colour variant in which Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ got listed in a few markets for sale. So, it is not surprising to see Samsung Galaxy S10e being made available in the same colour too. Now, some renders of the Samsung Galaxy S10e’s Cardinal Red colour variant have surfaced online and the report coupled with them also comes with some vague market availability details.

The company has also made ‘Cardinal Red’ models of Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ official. Both the smartphones are now listed on Samsung’s Switzerland website. Now, it seems like the South Korean technology giant doesn’t want its Samsung Galaxy S10e to be left behind either. The company is reported to be working on a Cardinal Red variant of the Galaxy S10e and now, because of the alleged renders that have surfaced online, we know what the device will look like.

The renders of the Samsung Galaxy S10e Cardinal Red variant have been shared by WinFuture and they show a fiery red coloured smartphone. The shade of the colour that has been used is the same as the one used on Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. The Red colour on the smartphone extends all the way from the glossy rear panel of the device to the metallic rim as well as the volume rocker keys and Bixby buttons on the handset. The rear camera of the smartphone features a Darker Red Finish.

According to the report, the South Korean technology giant will be selling the Cardinal Red variant of Samsung Galaxy S10e in Western European nations. However, there is no word on whether the smartphone will be launched in other countries, or what its pricing will be. The market availability of Samsung’s upcoming smartphone variant is tipped to begin in the next few weeks. However, the report has also suggested that in some regions, the smartphone will go on sale as soon as next week.

Google Pixel devices are some of the few smartphones which receive the newest upgrades and Android updates as soon as it is out. Now, with the start of June, Google has started rolling out the June Android security patch update for the Pixel smartphones. Other than the new Security patch, the new update also brings bug fixes along with overall performance improvements. This new update will also be received by the newly launched Google Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL. We should mention that this is the first update rolling out for these new devices. Google has put the factory images and the OTA files of the new June Android security patch on its OTA channel. The new update has fixed the boot freeze issue on the Pixel 2-series smartphones.

The new update comes with a number of fixes and improvements and it has also fixed the camera application crashing problem while video recording on the Pixel 3-series. The new update is being rolled out for all three generations of Pixel flagships along with the Pixel C tablet and the Pixel 3a-series. Even though the Pixel 3a-series are not flagships but they are still receiving the new June security patch update. It’s because the users had criticised the company that the new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones came with the older March Security patch.

Other fixes the new update brings is the bug fix which earlier caused Netflix application to freeze on the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 3 series smartphones. Other than that, the accuracy of ‘Ok Google’ voice commands have also been improved so that it would respond better. If it wasn’t obvious, the new June Security patch update is based on the Android 9 Pie.

Although the new update should be out for all the Pixel flagship smartphones and the devices mentioned above. But if not, then the users can download the new update for their respective Google Pixel devices through by downloading the factory images for the eligible phone or the OTA files. The OTA files of the update can be found on the Google Developers website from where it can be downloaded and installed.

The new June Security patch update for Pixel smartphones removes three high-level Elimination of Privilege (EoP) vulnerabilities in the framework which existed earlier. The three critical-level Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerabilities in the media framework has also been eliminated in the new update.

Apple CEO Tim Cook takes a jab at Android Pie: Here’s what he said

Apple kick-started its WWDC 2019 in San Jose, California yesterday. At its developer conference, the company made a number of key announcements. It unveiled iOS 13 that comes with Dark Mode, took wraps off iPadOS, announced new additions to its WatchOS and tvOS, and showcased its all-new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR. In addition to all of this, there was one more thing that Apple did. The company’s CEO Tim Cook, took a jab at Android, as always.

Before introducing the iOS 13, Cook spoke about Apple’s last year’s iOS 12. He said that iOS 12 has seen tremendous success in the industry and has 97% customer satisfaction. The CEO then went to talk about the adoption rate of iOS 12 saying, “As always, our adoption rate is industry leading as well. Eighty-five percent of the iOS customers are on the latest release. In fact, iOS 12 has been installed on more systems than any version of iOS ever.”

As soon as Cook said all of this, we knew what was coming next. Apple CEO then went on to add very matter-of-factly, “This is in stark contrast to the latest offering by those other guys, which was released before iOS 12. They only have 10% adoption.”

Android Pie vs iOS 12

The moment he said this, the slide behind him on the stage changed and it showed percentages of adoption of both iOS 12 and Android Pie. So there really wasn’t a need of guessing who exactly Cook was talking about.

This isn’t the first time that Apple has taken a jab at Android in this manner. It has almost become a sort of a tradition for the Cupertino-based technology giant to slide a humorous remark whenever the two companies can be compared. It is one of the things that Apple does whenever it can, and the company’s fans too look forward to it.

Cook did go on to explain how this high adoption rate was better for both users and developers and then he finally unveiled the iOS 13 at the event.

While what he said was indeed humorous, there are other facts involved in the stark contrast between the adoption rates of the two operating systems too. Firstly, Android is an open source platform and because of this, a number of technology companies use the operating system. Some use stock Android and the others customise it with their skins. But because of this, Android’s user base is far wider than that of iOS.

Secondly, smartphone makers have a very key role in rolling out the latest Android versions to their users. So, Android adoption rate depends a lot on them too. Apple, on the other hand, does not have to worry about any third party smartphone makers rolling out the latest version of their operating system to devices, as iOS is exclusively used in the company’s own devices and is a closed OS.

We would say that considering these two factors, it is very obvious why exactly there is such a big difference in the adoption rates of the two operating systems. We all may judge Google for not doing enough to ensure a wider roll-out, but let’s keep this in mind when we are doing so.

Nokia 4.2 review: Good for basic tasks

HMD Global recently launched its Nokia 4.2 smartphone in India that is priced at Rs 10,977. At this price point, the smartphone competes with a number of other smartphones from the likes of Samsung, Asus and Xiaomi. But can it match up to them in terms of performance? Read our review of Nokia 4.2 to find out more:

Nokia 4.2 Design and Display

Design is one of the best aspects of the Nokia 4.2, even though it may remind you a bit of Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus. If you like your smartphone to have a subtle and minimalistic design, then Nokia 4.2 is something that you will like. However, if you like something chunkier, then you may not be able to appreciate the design of Nokia 4.2. While the device is available in Gloss Pink and Black colour variants, the one that we got for review is dressed in Black. The front, as well as the back panel of the smartphone, is coated with 2.5D glass, making the handset’s design and look premium.

On the rear panel of the smartphone, there is a vertically stacked camera module that comes with two sensors and an LED flash. Beneath this module, a fingerprint scanner is placed and the Nokia branding can also be found here.

Nokia 4.2 price

The compact form factor of the Nokia 4.2 smartphone ensures that the one-handed usage is no problem at all on the device. The built quality of the smartphone is also very sturdy, so that is another plus.

Among the key highlights of the smartphone is its dedicated Google Assistant button that is placed on the left edge along with a SIM tray slot. While it is a useful addition for anyone who uses the assistant a lot, it cannot be remapped. Another thing that the company had touted is that there is an LED light on the power button of the smartphone. The button lights up each time the handset receives a notification. The power button and the volume rocker keys are present on the right edge. The top edge of the device comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a secondary microphone. While at the bottom users will find a microUSB port, a speaker and the primary microphone.

Overall, the look and feel of the Nokia 4.2 smartphone is first-class and it is one among the best-looking devices in the given price segment.

Coming to the display, Nokia 4.2 smartphone comes with a 5.71-inch HD+ screen. The display was a decent one. The colours appear to be accurate, although the viewing angles of the handset could have been better. The images and text appeared to be sharp and clear. The sunlight readability was sometimes problematic, but if you turn the brightness up, it becomes better.

Nokia 4.2 specifications

Saying that we definitely have seen much better displays in this price range. The screen of the smartphone performed averagely most of the time and failed to create a mark even though there is nothing too wrong in it. Samsung Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20, which fall in the same price bracket, offer much better displays than Nokia 4.2.

Nokia 4.2 Performance and Cameras

Before we speak about Nokia 4.2’s performance, here’s a look at its specifications. Nokia 4.2 runs Android 9.0 Pie and features a 5.71-inch HD+ (720×1,520 pixels) a-Si TFT display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Nokia 4.2 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC and comes with 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage and can install a microSD card of up to 400GB.

For imaging duties, the smartphone features a dual rear camera setup with 13MP and 2MP sensors. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8MP front-facing camera. The smartphone houses a 3,000mAh battery.

Speaking of the software, Nokia 4.2 is a part of Google’s Android One programme, much like all other Nokia devices by the company, and as said runs Android 9.0 Pie. You will get features like Digital Wellbeing, Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness in the handset. The device is also promised to get Android Q and Android R updates.

Nokia 4.2 India

Coming to the performance of the device, the Snapdragon 439 SoC performs basic and everyday tasks with ease. But don’t burden it with too much of multitasking. For instance, we did not see the best performance from the device when we tried watching videos on it while the navigation was on. The smartphone also started heating up each time we tried to multi-task on it.

Gaming was a similar experience. Playing games like Alto’s Odyssey was not a problem on the device, but we have seen other smartphones perform better when it comes to games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends. If you are a regular gamer who plays graphically demanding games on smartphones, probably you can consider some other option.

The call quality of the Nokia 4.2 was good. We faced no problems while making calls even from areas like basements and elevators and could listen to the person we were talking to at all times.

Nokia 4.2 image sample 2

Coming to the cameras, we found the sensors on Nokia 4.2 to do a decent job. The images taken during the day did have accurate colours and were bright. However, the images lacked a certain sharpness. But then, we have to say that the images taken outdoors looked much better than the ones taken indoors. The zoomed-in shots were not the best in class but decent.

But what was actually unsatisfactory were the shots taken at night. They turned out to be grainy and lacked clarity. The front camera mostly worked decently and it did not add the unnatural looking beauty features, which is something we are completely fine with.

Nokia 4.2 camera samples 3

Nokia 4.2 smartphone has a 3,000mAh battery that will last you a day with moderate usage. We used the smartphone for calls, watching YouTube videos, navigation, listening to music and browsing the web and we often had to charge it by the end of the day. We suggest having the lite version of social media apps on the handset for best battery use.

Verdict

Nokia 4.2 excels in the design department and it a part of Google’s Android One programme, which means that it will get timely updates. The Google Assistant button and the notification light on the smartphone are also plus points.

However, this is a competitive price point and Samsung Galaxy M10, which is similarly priced, did far better in terms of cameras, multitasking and battery. If these are a priority for you, you would be happier with Samsung Galaxy M10.

However, if you want a stock Android experience and a good-looking smartphone with a glass body, then Nokia 4.2 at Rs 10, 977 is not a bad buy. If you are someone who doesn’t use a smartphone too heavily and only need it for basic things, Nokia 4.2 wouldn’t disappoint you at all.

Pros

  • Beautiful design
  • Android One smartphone
  • Google Assistant button

Cons

  • Inconsistent camera performance
  • Battery life could be more lasting
  • Not great at multi-tasking

The official Huawei Club community forum states that only those devices with 6GB or more of free internal storage will be recommended for installing the new EMUI 9.1 beta build. If the memory lacks, then there might be complications in the installation.

In addition to this, according to the company, some older Huawei smartphones such as Mate 9 and the Huawei P10-series will also receive the new update soon.
