Realme Q2 series with MediaTek processor and 5G support launched

The Chinese smartphone company Realme has introduced its brand new Q2 series in China. The series is a successor of Realme Q that was launched last year. The up to date line-up includes three new devices Realme Q2, Realme Q2 Pro, and Realme Q2i that are powered by a MediaTek processor for 5G support. Two of the three smartphones have a hole punch design display while the Q2i comes with a waterdrop style notch display. Realme Q2 specifications

Realme Q2 comes with a 6.5-inch full-HD+ display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution. The display offers a refresh rate of 120Hz and 90.7 percent screen to body ratio. It runs on Realme UI based on top of Android 10 and will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor with ARM G7 MC3 GPU. The device comes with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and for storing more content on the phone the storage can be expanded with the help of a microSD card.

In terms of cameras, there is a triple camera set up on the back of the phone which includes a 48-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Further assisted by an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.3 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, it has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.1 aperture.

For connectivity Realme Q2 has a dual-band Wi-Fi, 5G, 4G LTE, GPS, Glonass, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port. The Sensors on the phone includes a geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and gyro sensor. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging solution.

Realme Q2 Pro specifications

The Realme Q2 Pro is very much similar to the vanilla variant but this one has a slightly smaller 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display offering 180Hz touch sampling rate and 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. It has the same Chipset but paired with Mali-G57 GPU. The rear and the front camera set up are also the same but the selfie sensor has an f/2.5 aperture. The battery is also smaller with a capacity 4,300mAh battery but with a super-fast 65W charger.

Realme Q2i specifications

This is the toned-down variant which has a 6.5-inch display with 88.7 percent screen to body ratio and 20:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it has a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage 

For optics, it comes with a triple rear camera set up that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a macro and a depth sensor. On the front Realme Q2i has an 8-megapixel sensor. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

Realme Q2 Series price and availability

The Realme Q2 price has been set at CNY 1,299 (Approx Rs 14,200) for base 4GB RAM with 128GB storage while the 6GB RAM option comes with a price tag of CNY 1,399 (Approx Rs 15,200). This variant is available in two colour options blue and silver. The Pro variant will be available in two variants 8GB RAM with 128GB storage at CNY 1,799 (Approx Rs. 19,600) and the 256GB option comes at CNY 1,999 (Approx Rs 21,800). The smartphone will be available in grey and gradient colour option. The Realme Q2i comes in a single 4GB RAM with 128GB storage option priced at CNY 1,199 (Approx Rs 13,000). This comes in blue and silver colour options. Both the standard variant and the Pro one will be available for sale on October 19 while the Q2i will be up for pre-orders from October 21.

It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Vivo V20 comes with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor with f/1.89 aperture. Further assisted by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The camera setup supports features such as Super Night Mode, Tripod Night Mode, Motion Autofocus, EyeFaceBody Autofocus, Object Autofocus, and Double Exposure. While on the front it comes with a 44-megapixel selfie sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.

The device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that supports a 33W FlashCharge fast charging solution. For connectivity, it has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS and a USB Type-C port.

Leaks and Rumours about iPhone 12 series

Just like the existing iPhone 11 models this time also you can expect three different models but today big reveal will also include iPhone Mini alongside iPhone 12, Pro and Pro Max. Out of the four Mini is the smallest as is expected to come with a 5.4-inch screen, while the others would have a bigger display.

Just ahead of the launch event some of the extensive details about the upcoming iPhone models leaked on the web. According to a leakster Kang in addition to the newest iPhones, we could also see a new HomePod mini smart speaker though he hasn’t said anything more on this but provides a lot more information about the iPhone 12 lineup.

As per a report by AppleTrack, Kang confirmed all the four new models iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Reportedly all these models will be featuring 5G including mmWave in the US.  This year’s models will also support a Super Retina XDR display that is currently available on the existing Pro models. Addressing more durability and to make them drop resistance the company is said to have used ceramic in their glass screen construction to make them more tough. The Dolby Vision HDR standard can be expected for better video quality. Spilling more beans on today’s launch of the products Kang says the iPhone 12 Mini is likely to have a 5.4-inch display and will be available in black, white, red, blue, and green colour options. The device will reportedly be offered in a couple of Storage options starting from 64GB to 256GB with a starting price of $699. The phone is likely to have a dual rear camera- a wide-angle and ultrawide sensor and will be available for pre-orders on ether dates November 6th or 7th whereas it is said to go on sale on November 13th or 14th.

Next on the list is the iPhone 12 that is suggested to have a 6.1-inch screen and will be available in black, white, red, blue and green colour options. The price will start at $799 while the storage options will range from 64GB to 256GB. Similar to Mini the standard model will also have dual rear cameras. The handset will be up for pre-orders from October 16th or 17th while the sale date will be on October 23rd or 24th.

Up next is the iPhone 12 Pro that is said to launch with a starting price of $999. This one will be sporting a 6.1-inch screen and will be available in four colour options gold, silver, graphite, and blue. Though being a higher-end model, the storage options will range from 128GB going up to 512GB. According to Kang, this model will be featuring a triple rear camera set up, apart from the wide-angle and ultrawide angle sensor, a telephoto sensor with 4x optical zoom and a LIDAR sensor for augmented reality will be added additionally.

Last but not the least the iPhone 12 Pro Max is supposed to feature a 6.7-inch display. There will be gold, silver, graphite, and blue colour options and the storage options will range from 128GB to 512GB. The top-end model will have the above-mentioned sensors in addition to the LIDAR sensor and the telephoto lens will be offering 5x optical zoom. Kang predicts the pre-orders will either start on November 13th or 14th and the sale will begin on November 20th or on 21st.

Apple is also expected to announce its new wireless charger namely MagSafe. As per a report, the new charger will be compatible with iPhone cases and magnets have been used to align them correctly. Moreover, the HomePod mini will be also part of the today special event that is going to be priced at around $99. According to Kang, the company’s second smart speaker is likely to be 3.3-inches tall. The company has used the same S5 processor available on Apple Watch Series 5 as well as Watch SE. It is expected to go on sale on November 16 or 17th.

Vivo V20 tipped to launch in India with a price tag of 24,990

Just ahead of the official launch in the country Vivo V20 price has been tipped on the internet. The device is set to launch in the country on October 13 which is tomorrow in the country. Before arriving in the country, the smartphone made its global debut alongside another Pro variant in Thailand a few weeks ago. The company has only teased the launch date of its upcoming product but it did not share the official pricing of its upcoming smartphone. Also, the company has been teasing to launch Vivo V20 Series in India which include a standard variant, a Pro variant as well as Pro SE but recently Vivo V20 got listed on Flipkart to tease its availability.

Just before the launch, Vivo V20 got listed on Flipkart to tease the smartphone. The microsite also shares the launch details which is scheduled for Tuesday on October 13. The company did not share many details about the phone but it has revealed that the smartphone is going to be priced between Rs 20,000- Rs 30,000 price segment. But just ahead of the official announcement the price of the smartphone leaked on the internet. As per a recent tweet by tipster Ishan Agarwal, Vivo V20 will be tipped to come with a price tag of Rs 24,990 which is similar to what the company teased via a microsite.

To recall, Vivo V20 was introduced with a 6.44-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with HDR10 support. It is powered by  Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The triple rear camera set up includes a 64-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor, while on the front it comes with a 44-megapixel selfie sensor.

The phone packs a 4,000mAh battery that supports a 33W FlashCharge fast charging solution. For connectivity, it has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS and a USB Type-C port.

The Chinese smartphone company OnePlus is going to unveil its latest smartphone series OnePlus 8T in India on October 14. The news is rife on the same day the company is going to launch OnePlus Nord Special Edition. Yes, the company’s affordable smartphone will be getting a special edition variant which is supposed to be a new Sandstone colour variant. The company has also shared teasers suggesting the new colour options in Sandstone Black. The new colour model will obviously join the other two-colour options namely Blue Marble and Gray Onyx.

The company took to Twitter to announce that OnePlus Nord will be getting a special edition on October 14. OnePlus has also shared teasers in which greyish sand colour back is seen with the company logo surrounded with stones pointing out Sandstone Black colour variant. In another tweet the company posted another picture with a caption” Inspiration for beautiful design can be seen everywhere. Like here, for example. #OnePlusNord” The image shared has the smartphones’ back with the logo on the sand which again hints the Sandstone Black edition for OnePlus Nord.

To recall OnePlus Nord was launched in India a few months back in a Blue Marble and Gray Onyx colour options. In terms of design, the device has a 6.44-inch full-HD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate having 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. The dual-SIM (Nano) OnePlus Nord is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, which is an excellent mid-range chipset, paired with Adreno 620 GPU and up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM with up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage that doesn’t support expansion via a microSD card. 

The OnePlus Nord has six cameras, four on the back and two on the front. The quad rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with an f/1.75 aperture with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens that has a field of view (FoV) of 119 degrees with an f/2.25 aperture a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 5-megapixel depth shooter both having an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, it has a dual selfie camera set up, a 2-megapixel Sony IMX616 primary sensor with an f/2.45 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens that has an FoV of 105 degrees and f/2.45 aperture. 

The launch of the OnePlus 8T in India is set for October 14. The launch will take place through a virtual launch event that will kick off at 7.30 PM that is going to be live-streamed via the company’s official website including social media accounts via its official YouTube channel in the country.

Sony India has announced the Alpha 7S III (model ILCE-7SM3), a perfect partner for professional users with refined features and exceptional performance.  Featuring a brand new 12.1MP (approx., effective) back-illuminated full-frame image sensor with ultra-high ‘s’ series sensitivity and 15+ stop wide dynamic range, a host of video recording capabilities including 4K 120pi and 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth, a new heat dissipating mechanism, dual slot relay recording enabling over one-hour of 4K 60p movie shooting until battery ends, a new autofocus system, and touch screen interface and side flip LCD screen, the new Alpha 7S III will become the ultimate creative tool for video professionals and all types of hybrid still/video shooters.

Asserting the Alpha 7S III opens up a new world of possibilities for new age content creators, Mukesh Srivastava, Digital Imaging Head at Sony India, said, “Engineers at Sony are continuously involved in multiple customer surveys and Alpha 7S III is a result of many such survey findings. It combines the classic S series sensitivity with a feature set, performance level and user experience that is simply unmatched in the industry today at any price segment.”

The system architecture for the new Alpha 7S III has been completely redesigned to deliver exceptional video and still shooting performance. The new 35mm full-frame 12.1MP (approx., effective) back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor reduces rolling shutter by up to three timesiv and utilizes a variety of advanced light-gathering techniques to ensure high-sensitivity with low noise, allowing users to shoot in low-light situations without needing large-scale lighting setups. In addition to improved image quality, this new image sensor includes a focal plane phase-detection AF system for the first time in an S-series camera.

Along with the new sensor, the Alpha 7S III also includes a new BIONZ XR image processing engine that provides up to eight times more processing power, minimizes processing latency, and enables many of the hallmark still and imaging features of the camera. The new system also includes the world’s brightest and largest 9.44 million-dot (approx.) OLED electronic eye-level viewfinder and is the world’s first camera with dual CFexpress Type A card slots, enabling high-speed data transfer in a compact size.

The base ISO has been lowered to 80, resulting in a normal range of 80-102,400 (expandable to 80-409,600 for video and 40-409,600 for stills) to provide more flexible ISO plus wide dynamic range with low noise at all settings. It offers improved image quality by approximately 1 stop of noise reduction in the middle and high sensitivity ranges.

Moreover, the Alpha 7S III showcases video recording capabilities including 4K 120p and 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth. The Alpha 7S III offers in-camera 4K recording up to 120 frames per second, 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling, producing stunning video recording. The new camera offers a more flexible and efficient post-production workflow with a variety of advanced movie recording modes such as All-Intra and MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 coding (XAVC HS).

The Alpha 7S III the ultimate creative tool for video professionals and all types of hybrid still/video shooters. It comprises a brand new 12.1MP back-illuminated full-frame image sensor with ultra-high sensitivity and 15+ stop wide dynamic range making. Furthermore, it allows up to 4K 60p 16-bit RAW output to an external recorder via HDMI Type-A connector.

On the design front, the Alpha 7S III’s design has been updated to ensure effective heat dissipation and minimizes overheating — even during extended continuous recording sessions at 4K 60p 10-bit 4:2:2 video lasting an hour or more. The new heat-dissipating structure requires no fan or cabinet vents allowing Alpha 7S III to maintain dust and moisture resistance. For video on-the-go, the Alpha 7S III is the first Alpha series camera to include Active Mode with 5-axis optical in-body image stabilization to support especially difficult handheld movie shooting.

With Dual CF express Type A card slots that enable high speed data processing while keeping the compact size, the Alpha 7S III features two CFexpress Type A compatible media slots which also support UHS-I and UHS-II SDXC/SDHC cards, enabling high write-and-read speeds while keeping the camera body compact in size. High-speed data transfer to a PC is possible at about 1.7 times faster, then that of SD card. The dual slots can be set to relay mode for extended continuous recording of even the highest bit rate data as well as simultaneous recording and sort by format type recording.

As far as the price and availability is concerned, the new Alpha 7S III camera and CFexpress cards will be available across all Sony Center, Alpha Flagship stores, www.ShopatSC.com portal and major electronic stores across India from 15th October 2020 onwards. While the price of the A7S III camera is Rs 3,34,990, the CEA-G80T Memory card comes for Rs 21,100. On the other hand, the CEA-G160T Memory card comes for Rs 40,990 and the MRW-G2 Card Reader is Rs 13,700.

Lenovo-owned company Motorola has expanded its Smart TV line-up by launching a new range of Android TVs Motorola Revou and ZX2 Android TV. The latest series will go on sale during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale in the country on October 15. The company has introduced Televisions in four different screen sizes 32-inch HD, 40-inch Full-HD, 43-inch and 55-inch 4K resolution and all of these are powered by Android 10.

Motorola Revou series and Motorola ZX2 Smart TV series features

All the Smart TVs run on the Android 10 TV Operating System and are powered by a 1.5GHz CA53 quad-core processor. Overt that, all the four Motorola Smart TVs come with 2GB of RAM and Mali-G52 GPU. The most premium ones come with 32GB of storage and the affordable range offers 16GB of internal storage. The latest Android has support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio, Dolby Studio Sound, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10 for better audio as well as picture quality. These are further supported by dual-band Wi-Fi and Response Time Compensation Engine for motion enhancement.

The Motorola Revou series includes a spacematic stand with a metal wire finish. There is a dual-tone Swedish Linen finish with an inbuilt soundbar that features a razor-thin design. The 55-inch TV model has dual speakers as well as tweeters with a total sound output of 50W. While the 43-inch model also has two speakers that give a total output of 24W. The endless edge display has a 91 percent NTSC along with smart contrast dimming and an additional wide colour gamut.

Motorola ZX2 Smart TV

On the other hand, the Motorola ZX2 series comes with a convex stand along with ports on the sides. Both the Smart TVs equips two speakers and tweeters with a  total sound output of 40W.

Motorola Revou series and Motorola ZX2 Smart TV series price in India and availability

Motorola Revou series is the most premium one out of the two and is available in two sizes 55 inches and 43 inches. Motorola Revou 55-inch Ultra HD TV price in India has been set at Rs 40,999 while the Motorola Revou 43-inch Ultra HD TV will be available at Rs 30,999.

While the affordable one that is Motorola ZX2 32-inch HD Ready TV  comes with a price tag of Rs 13,999 and the Motorola ZX2 40-inch Full-HD TV is priced at Rs 19,999. Both the television range is scheduled to go on sale on October 15 in India during Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale.

Google Nest Audio will be available in India on October 16 when the Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale kicks off in the country during the festive season. The smart device comes in five colour options Chalk and Charcoal. The company has set the price of Nest Audio at Rs 7,999 but for a limited period the smart speaker will be offered at an introductory price of Rs 6,999 that is Rs 1,000 down from its retailing cost. Apart from Flipkart, Nest Audio will soon be available at retail outlets across the country at Reliance Retail and Tata Cliq.

Google Nest Audio features

Google Nest Audio is a successor of Nest Mini in terms of design, Google Nest has a slimmer profile and is made from 70 percent recycled plastic. It equips a 75mm woofer, a 19mm tweeter, 3 far-field microphones and a 2-stage mic mute switch. The smart speaker is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and can be connected through Bluetooth v5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac. According to the company it is 75 percent louder and has 50 percent stronger bass than the original Google Home.

The latest variant of the Nest equips a dedicated machine learning chip with up to one TeraOPS of processing power to learn your most common music commands and responds two times faster than the original Google Home. The device is compatible with other smart home brands like Philips Hue, TP-Link|KASA and more with your voice command you can ask Nest to play music from YouTube Music or Spotify Premium with the help of Google Assistant just say, “Hey Google, recommend some music”.

The device comes with a Media EQ that enables Nest Audio to automatically tune itself to music, podcasts, audiobooks or even a response from Google Assistant. While the Ambient IQ allows it to adjust the volume of Assistant, news, podcasts and audiobooks based on the background noise in your home, so you can hear the weather forecast over a noisy dishwasher.

In order to enhance imaging experience for camera lovers, Panasonic India has launched the latest addition to its flagship S series – LUMIX S5 for the Indian market. With a price tag of Rs 1,64,900 for body and Rs 1,89,900 for kit, LUMIX S5 is available across Panasonic brand shops and Panasonic 4K Imaging School.

According to Panasonic, LUMIX S5 hybrid full-frame mirrorless camera, packs the essence of the conventional S Series camera in a compact, lightweight body and provides excellent performance in both shooting photos and recording videos for serious and enthusiastic photographers, videographers and digital content creators.

Asserting that the company keeps the consumer requirements at the core when researching and launching new technologies, Manish Sharma, President and CEO, Panasonic India & South Asia, said, “With the surge in online content consumption, we have seen a rise in demand for high quality imaging solution to create superior content. Bringing in this latest model of our LUMIX full-frame mirrorless technology in India, is a step towards catering to this growing demand amongst photographers, videographers and content creators. As far as the specifications are concerned, LUMIX S5 contains a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor that delivers a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity performance made possible by sufficient light condensation. Delivering crystal clear high sensitivity videos, S5 boasts Dual Native ISO technology, enabling users to shoot images and videos with minimal noise.

Furthermore, LUMIX S5 is powered with advanced deep-learning technology that provides high-speed, high-precision AF (auto focus) in both taking stills and recording videos by featuring real-time detection of the subject’s features such as human eye, face, head and body. Additionally, the camera features a separate mode dial dedicated for slow and quick motion, to effectively capture time lapse and slow motion videos. With this launch, Panasonic hosts the largest lineup of cameras offering 4K 10-bit videos, delivering cinema like quality to content creators, especially for social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, etc.

Combining the Body I.S. (5-axis) in the camera and the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) in the LUMIX S Series lens, the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 the correction power is maximized to allow 6.5-stop slower shutter speed*2. It is highly beneficial in telephoto shots and in adverse situations, such as in low-light or with one-handed shooting. The 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works for both photo and video recording, including 4K.

With the new Live View Composite function, the camera releases the shutter at designated intervals of exposure time and synthesizes the parts with high luminosity to produce a single picture. While the total brightness of each consecutive image is accumulated in bulb shooting, only the target subject is detected and the user can synthesize them carefully while seeing it in live view. This is extremely useful for capturing shots of fireworks or stars in the night sky where the background needs no gain-increase.

The LUMIX S5 delivers 14+ stops of Dynamic Range, which are virtually the same as those of the Panasonic cinema cameras, to precisely reproduce everything from dark to bright areas. With Slow & Quick mode, impressive video slow and quick motion in 4K (1-60fps, 30x quick to 2.5x slow) or in FHD (1-180fps, 60x quick to 7.5x slow)*4 is available. Hisense Android TV 43A71F review: Great visuals and audio

Hisense might be a new entrant in India, but we have experienced its TVs plenty of times at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) at Las Vegas, USA. The company is known for giving great (latest) features at affordable rates. Bringing the same theory to India, Hisense launched a flurry of thin tubes in India out of which we got the 43-inch Android Television to tinker with. We spent some time with the flat screen and this is our review of Hisense Android TV 43A71F.

Design

Out of the box, the Hisense Android TV 43A71F takes very little time to setup. The manual is thorough enough to get you rolling. Looks-wise the TV has similarities with other brands in the market that have a similar twin V type table stand and thin bezels. However here the bottom bezel with the Hisense branding is broader than the other three sides (that are really thin). There are no physical buttons on the TV set and since it is a smart TV, you have to enable or browse everything with the supplied remote.

The Hisense Android TV 43A71F has a single component port at the back along with 3 HDMI, 1 Ethernet and 2 USB ports on the side. A 3.5mm auxiliary port can also be found here. These are somewhat accessible from the side (we would have wanted closer to the side and not deeper in). The remote is well made and has a mesh running on its back for extra grip. It has all the necessary functions along with some great quick access buttons for OTT players such as Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, Prime Video and Disney Hotstar.

Hisense Android TV 43A71F Performance

Moving on the fun part. Hisense Android TV 43A71F is made for binge-watchers and couch-potatoes who want nothing but the best sound and picture quality. This television provides both. You can watch 4K video on this smart TV with powerful sound. Unlike most in the category, this TV set provides 24W RMS sound with Dolby Atmos. Trust us, the sound on this TV is very loud and good for medium to a large room.

We played a lot of varied content on the TV starting from Netflix shows to YouTube videos. A couple of Xbox games were also thrown in and everything worked quite well. The colours were very vivid with exceptional blacks. Since it is an LED smart TV with Dolby Vision, the games (especially the racing ones) look very nice. Audio for both, gaming and movies is great, and like we said 24W sound with Dolby Atmos does a super job.

Talking a bit more about the Tech Specs, this smart TV has 2GB RAM inside with 16GB of space. It is built on Google Android 9 Pie for TVs so boot time is quite low. It takes about 20 seconds for it to fully load up. Apps like Netflix, Disney Hotstar, Prime Video come preloaded on the OS and more can be downloaded from the App store. Most popular playback files like MP4, MP3, JPEG etc are supported via the USB drive as well. There is a dedicated sports mode on the TV too that adjusts the contrast of the TV according to the sport type.

Verdict

All in all, the Hisense Android TV 43A71F is a good TV. Things like Google assistant are in-built and can be accessed easily with the supplied remote. This smart TV supports both Ethernet and Wi-Fi and connects to 5GHz (Wi-Fi) for fast speed internet with a compatible modem. That is good since none of us wants to be hit with the bugging buffer wheel. At Rs 32,990 this 43-inch smart TV might seem to be on the higher side. However, none of the competition has the same kind of features this TV has. Also, right now since they are a new brand in the country they might have teething issues. You can definitely buy this one if you can look past these.

Google Pixel 4a with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC launched in India

The Tech Giant Google today unveiled the much-awaited Google Pixel 4a in India. The device was unveiled globally in August this year and it almost took two months to reach the Indian shores. The company decided to launch the smartphone it introduces 5G variants of Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G but both the devices are not coming to India. Google Pixel 4a is the successor of Pixel 3a and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G. This smartphone features a dual rear camera and an OLED display. Google Pixel 4a price in India and its availability details

Google Pixel 4a price in India has been set at Rs 31,999. This the price of the single 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage. But during the festive season, the company will be making the phone available with an introductory price of Rs 29,999. This pricing is for a limited period only. The device is scheduled to go on sale in India via Flipkart when Big Billion Days Sale kicks off on October 16. It comes in a single Just Black colour option.

In addition to this, the company has also announced that Google Nest Audio smart speaker will be available at a special launch price of ₹6,999 (Rs 7,999) via Flipkart. While the Pixel 4a will continue to be available on Flipkart, Nest Audio will also be available soon at retail outlets across the country at Reliance Retail and Tata Cliq.

Google Pixel 4a comes with a 5.8 inches OLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution at 1,080×2,340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio along with a pixel density at 443 PPI. This runs on Android 10 OS out of the box. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset paired with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of internal memory.

In terms of optics, there is a 12-megapixel single rear camera set up on the phone having f/1.7 aperture with optical image stabilisation (OIS) for stable images. There are various camera modes such as dual exposure controls, Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography functions, and fused video stabilisation. On the front, there is a single 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 lens housed inside a hole-punch display.

In terms of connectivity, there is a 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1 + LE, A2DP 7, NFC, Google Cast, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. And, this smartphone boasts a 3,140mAh battery supported by an 18W fast charger. In addition to features like Recorder, which now connects with Google Docs to seamlessly save and share transcriptions and recordings (English only), Pixel 4a will feature helpful experiences like the Personal Safety app for real-time emergency notifications.

Pixel 4a also has Live Caption, which provides real-time captioning (English only) for your video and audio content.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro review: The stunner

Chinese technology company, Oppo, recently launched its Reno 4 Pro smartphone in India at Rs 34,990. The smartphone comes with a curved display, a quad camera setup, and a 4,000mAh battery that has support for 65W Super VOOC 2.0 fast charging. We spent a few days with Oppo Reno 4 Pro and here’s what we think of it:

Oppo Reno 4 Pro design and display

The design of the Oppo Reno 4 Pro is extremely premium. The look and feel of the smartphone make it stand out from the crowd and it can certainly be called one of its pros. We should mention that Oppo Reno 4 Pro comes with a curved display, so if you are someone who enjoys watching Netflix and YouTube content on your smartphone, you may want to consider it. The plastic back panel of the handset is also curved and has a matte finish on it. The two together make Oppo Reno 4 Pro quite stunning to look at.

The back panel of the Oppo Reno 4 Pro houses the quad-camera setup and also has the Oppo branding. The handset has to be held in the landscape mode to see the branding upright, and this emphasizes on how the company has focussed on the cameras of the device. The right edge of Oppo’s latest offering has the Power button while the left one has the volume rocker keys. The bottom edge has the speaker grille, the microUSB port, the microphone as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack, while the top edge has the SIM tray and the secondary microphone placed on it. Another thing that we liked about the smartphone is that it is very light. It weighs 161 grams and is just 7.7mm in width.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro

Coming to the display of Oppo Reno 4 Pro, it is another one of the key highlights of the handset. The smartphone is dominated by a 6.5-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display that is protected with a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 and has a refresh rate of 90Hz. It is worth noticing that the Indian version of the handset does not come with support for HDR10, and although that might be a disappointment for some, in no way does it change the fact that the handset’s screen is amazing.

The images projected on the display of Oppo Reno 4 Pro are crisp and the colours are accurate and vibrant. We used the phone from different viewing angles and the colours remained consistent. The brightness of the device is good too. There is a hole-punch camera on the top left corner of the handset and the screen also has an in-display fingerprint sensor embedded on it.

We watched a lot of Netflix and YouTube content on the device and even played a lot of games, and doing these two on the handset was simply a visual treat. The sunlight readability of the smartphone’s screen was decent as well. In a nutshell, the design and the display of Oppo Reno 4 Pro were definitely among its talking points, and if these two aspects matter to you, you would certainly not be disappointed.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro performance and cameras

Before we get started about the performance of the Oppo Reno 4 Pro, let’s take a minute to talk about the rest of its specifications. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For additional storage, users have the option of adding a microSD card. The device runs Android 10 skinned with ColorOS 7.2 and a 4,000mAh battery that has support for 65W SuperVOOC 2.0. For imaging duties, there is a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8MP secondary ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP mono camera. There is a 32MP Sony IMX616 camera on the display for selfies and video calls.

Coming to the software of the smartphone, there are a number of tweaks that the skin adds like ‘Icon pull-down gesture’ and ‘Quick Return Bubble’. The company has also added some of its own services like Oppo LAB and Oppo Relax to the smartphone.

Moving on to the performance of the device, even though Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G is not the latest processor in the market, Oppo Reno 4 Pro managed to pull off most tasks with ease. But then, it definitely lags behind when compared to other devices in the same price range that have more powerful processors. In fact, OnePlus Nord is cheaper than Oppo Reno 4 Pro but still offers Snapdragon 765G SoC, which is a lot better than the 720G.

Of course, day to day tasks were not a problem as we could launch and switch between apps with ease and the smartphone’s performance didn’t deteriorate even when we multitasked on it. During our time with the device, we played a number of games on it including Asphalt 9: Legends and Alto’s Odessey. The smartphone handled them all very well, no matter how graphic heavy they were. Even though some of the gaming sessions were very long, the handset never heated up too much. It did warm up moderately after prolonged gaming, but we get to see that on several phones.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5

The 4,000mAh battery of the smartphone lasts for almost two days with moderate usage that involves watching YouTube content, some phone calls, listening to music and browsing through social media apps. Oppo Reno 4 Pro comes with 65W Super VOOC 2.0 fast charger that can charge the handset almost completely in half an hour.

Now, let’s talk about the cameras of the handset. Like we mentioned earlier, the device comes with four cameras and obviously, we had certain expectations. However, Oppo Reno 4 Pro could not really live up to them when it comes to photography.

The 48MP primary camera does a great job during the day, in well-lit conditions and offers a good amount of detail in the shot. The colours were also vibrant and accurate. However, the quality dips as soon as you switch to the wide-angle sensor.

So basically, you give up on the the quality in lieu of greater area covered. Even the zoomed in shots lacked details and clarity at times. The colours did not remain as good as when you take images from the primary camera.

In dimly lit conditions, switch to Night Mode for best results. Otherwise the images may have some noise. Most of the selfies that we took using the front-facing snapper turned out to be good, especially the ones clicked in well-lit conditions. But then again, the quality fell when lights weren’t too bright.

Verdict

To conclude, we would say that Oppo Reno 4 Pro comes with its own share of pros and cons. The design and the display are definitely among the positive aspects of the handset, while the cameras and the processor could have been better. The performance is smooth, but then with OnePlus Nord available at a cheaper price, Oppo Reno 4 Pro has plenty of competition in the same price rage.

In India, the South Korean smartphone company Samsung has unveiled its first F-Series smartphone. The company has introduced Samsung Galaxy F41 which is powered by an octa-core Exynos 9611 SoC. It has a 6,000mAh battery, features a waterdrop-style design display and a triple rear camera set up. Samsung Galaxy F41 price in India has been set at Rs 16,999 for the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage while the 128GB RAM option has been introduced with a price tag of Rs 17,999. Both the models will be available in three colour options Fusion Green, Fusion Blue, and Fusion Black. For the launch offers the company will be offering the phone at an introductory discount of Rs 1,500 that will bring down the cost of smartphone to Rs 15,499. The device is scheduled to go on its first sale starting October 16 via Flipkart during the Big Billion Days Sale.

More launch offers include an additional 10 percent discount to the SBI cardholders. In addition to this, Flipkart will be offering the Flipkart Smart Upgrade plan to allow the buyers to get the phone by paying 70 percent of the retail price. This plan is applicable on credit card and credit card EMI payments only and after 12 months the buyers have to return the existing phone to upgrade it to a new one.

Samsung Galaxy F41 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with 420 nits of peak brightness. The smartphone is powered by Exynos 9611 SoC coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM with up to 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card. The smartphone runs on  Android 10 with One UI Core on top.

In terms of optics, Galaxy F41 features a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor. Further assisted by an 8-megapixel  ultra-wide-angle lens with a field of view of 123 degrees and a 5-megapixel sensor with live focus support. The camera setup has 4K video recording support as well. On the front, this has a 32-megapixel selfie camera with live focus support.

On the connectivity front, the device has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C. The Samsung Galaxy F41 is backed by a 6,000mAh battery with 15Wfast charging support. The battery is touted to deliver up to 21 hours of web browsing and 48 hours of voice calling.
