Amazon Flex delivery programme expanded to 35 more cities in India, will provide part-time earning opportunities for users

The e-commerce website Amazon last year announced the launch of Amazon Flex service in India. At the time of the launch, the Amazon Flex delivery programme was limited to three cities only. But now it has expanded this service to 35 more cities. In June last year, Amazon announced its Flex delivery programme for its Indian users. The company’s idea is to allow people to earn some cash for delivering packages on their own schedule. Earlier this Flex delivery programme was launched for three cities in India Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi with further plans to expand to additional cities in that year. But almost after one year, the company has now included more than 35 cities in its initiative which includes metro as well as non-metro cities including Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chennai, Pune, Patna, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Visakhapatnam, Gurgaon and more. Live-streaming feature on Dolby On App is now available for Android users in India

American company specialized in audio noise reduction and audio encoding/compression Dolby earlier this year announced its app Dolby On app for iOS and Android users. Initially, the live-streaming feature on the app was available for the iOS users only now the company has expanded it to the Android users also. Those who are unknown Dolby On is a free music and video recording and streaming app. This allows users to easily record and live stream audio and video with superior Dolby Sound quality using their device. The company has now rolled out a live-streaming feature for Android users.  According to the company, this functionality works in two ways, first through its indigenous Twitch integration and second through RTMP (real-time messaging protocol). The latter one allows you to live-stream to more platforms like Youtube, Vimeo, among others. From which one can choose Custom URL as their connection option, then copy and paste the platform’s streaming key and RTMP link and just go live. The Dolby One app is capable of taking note of the sound coming in and automatically applies audio effects like compression, EQ, limiting, noise reduction, stereo widening, de-essing and more. The sound can be further edited with unique sound “styles” – like photo filters in Instagram, these allow you to apply sonic profiles to your recording. The app also allows creators to record and Livestream, both audio and video. One can also use an external phonemic setup to take advantage of the app’s powerful processing. Here are few tips to make most of the Dolby On App:
  • To record a video, make sure the place is well lit or the place video being shot has good lighting and for the audio recording you should experiment with phone placement to get the right mix of sound sources (for example, capturing the right balance of your voice and guitar.)
  • Check your levels and keep an eye on the in-app level meter if you’re in the red, reduce your volume or move the phone further away to avoid clipping.
  • While using the live streaming feature, make sure you have your Facebook or Twitch feeds available nearby on a separate device so you can view feedback and engage with your viewers in real-time. While live streaming will work from a good cell data signal, the use of a strong WiFi connection for best results is recommended.

Twitter is testing Voice tweet for iOS, here how to compose voice tweet

These days Twitter is coming up with new features on its platform. Recently it introduced Fleets which is similar to WhatsApp’s status and Instagram and Facebook stories. Twitter’s Fleets will vanish after 24 hours from the user’s timeline. Now the company has rolled out another interesting feature that is Voice tweets. However, this functionality is under testing and allows users to record their voice clippings to publish as tweets. “Over the years, photos, videos, gifs, and extra characters have allowed you to add your own flair and personality to your conversations. But sometimes 280 characters aren’t enough and some conversational nuances are lost in translation. So starting today, we’re testing a new feature that will add a more human touch to the way we use Twitter – your very own voice,” the senior software engineer Remy Bourgoin said in a blog post. The Voice tweet functionality works as similar to Tweeting with text. The feature is being tested and at this stage, it will be released to a limited number of people on Twitter for iOS. In the future, it will be made available to everyone on the iOS platform that will be able to have access to this feature. Rather than using the whole thing besides iOS, Android and web users will only be able to get access to see voice tweets in their feed and be able to listen to them. Voice Tweet How to compose a Voice Tweet? Tweeting using your voice is similar to a regular text. To begin with, Open the Tweet composer and then tap on the new wavelength icon. After this, you will be shown your profile picture along with the record button at the bottom. Hit the button to record your voice clipping. Each voice Tweet captures up to 140 seconds of audio. If you have more to say then keep on recording your voice as soon as you reach the time limit for a Tweet, a new voice Tweet starts automatically to create a thread. Once you are done hit the Done Button to end your recording and go back to the composer screen to Tweet. Voice Tweet The Voice Tweet will appear on your follower’s timeline alongside other tweets. One can tap the image to listen to the tweet. According to the company on the iOS platform, the playback will start in a new window docked at the bottom of your timeline and you can listen as you scroll. You can also keep listening while doing other things on your phone or on the go. “There’s a lot that can be left unsaid or uninterpreted using text, so we hope voice Tweeting will create a more human experience for listeners and storytellers alike. Whether it’s #storytime about your encounter with wild geese in your neighborhood, a journalist sharing breaking news or a first-hand account from a protest, we hope voice Tweeting gives you the ability to share your perspectives quickly and easily with your voice. We can’t wait to see how people will use this to make their voices heard and add to the public conversation,” the blogpost said. Know how Google Nest Wi-Fi update will boost network performance on slow connections

0
In order to improve overall network performance on slow Internet connections, Google has now introduced a software update to make Google Nest Wi-Fi even much better to offer enhanced support for multiple video calls, gaming sessions and more simultaneously. The software update, which includes general security and stability improvements, will also improve device connection speeds on wireless networks and optimizations so that the devices move to faster Wi-Fi radio channels. According to Sanjay Noronha, Product Manager, Google Nest, “Our priority device feature is also getting smarter, so you can rest assured Wi-Fi traffic will be prioritized to the device you choose. This means you can make sure your work laptop is getting the strongest Wi-Fi available, as opposed to the kids’ YouTube sessions. And the best part is these updates will be pushed automatically, no action required on your end.” Google has shared a few tips to help you troubleshoot your Wi-Fi connection when it isn’t working the way you expect. In case your TV is always buffering, follow these simple steps to fix the issue:
  1. Don’t hide your router
Don’t hide your old black box router in drawers or behind furniture as this compromises its usefulness and weakens your Wi-Fi signal. According to tech giant, Metal (like a filing cabinet) and water (like an aquarium) are the biggest offenders.
  1. Reboot your router
Google further stated that if you’re noticing network congestion, rebooting cleans up stale software buffers and forces the reconnection of your devices.
  1. Run a speed test
Is your problem your Wi-Fi range? Get close to your router and run a speed test, then try again from farther away. If it’s slower the second time, you may have a dead zone. If you can, try moving your router out into the open or closer to the potential dead zone to see if that helps. You can find a free speed test at speedtest.net. In case your entire family is online at once, try following these steps to fix the Wi-Fi related issue:
  • Know how much speed you need
Most video calls require 5 Mbps of consistent speed, but the reality is a bit more nuanced.  Because you’re receiving video from the internet (download) and sending video as well (upload), you’ll want to make sure that your upload speed is a good, consistent 5 Mbps as well. Conduct a speed test during a busy time of day when you’ve had a bad video call.
  • Call to your Internet Service Provider
If it feels like your Wi-Fi gets bogged down during the work day, but otherwise works fine, your issue could be your ISP.  If you’ve already run a speed test and spent time rebooting your router and modem, it may be time to work with your ISP to solve the problem. If your ISP modem is really old, it might be time for an upgrade.  Buying one yourself rather than getting it from your ISP might save you up to $10 a month. Check your ISP’s website for compatible modems before you purchase one, then call your ISP to get it added to their network. In case your home has dead zones, follow these steps to solve the issue:
  • Upgrade your router: If your router is more than five years old, consider changing it. According to Google, “There were substantial changes in Wi-Fi standards in the U.S. back in 2015, allowing higher radio power and therefore better coverage from routers made in 2016 or later.”
  • Try using a mesh network: A mesh network is a group of routers (actually Wi-Fi access points) that wirelessly communicate with each other to create a single, connected Wi-Fi network over a large area. “We created Nest Wifi as a mesh system because having multiple points work together to create a seamless, single network. While network strength varies depending on things like the size of your house and your ISP, the idea is that this system provides consistently strong coverage for all connected devices throughout your home,” a Google blog post revealed.

Microsoft launches ‘Teams for Education’ features to support new remote and hybrid learning formats

0
With an aim to engage and prepare students and teachers for new remote and hybrid learning formats in the upcoming school year, Microsoft has now launched ‘Teams for Education’ that include expanded audience view of up to 49 participants, custom backgrounds, class insights, and virtual breakout rooms, among other new features. After carrying out a survey with nearly 500 members of the Microsoft Education community, comprising teachers and institutional leaders from around the world, Microsoft discovered that there has been a strong uptake in the use of remote learning tools. Around 61 percent expect to begin the next school year in a hybrid learning environment—a mix of remote and in-person learning—and 87 percent said they expect to use technology more in physical classrooms. “It’s more important than ever to help educators find ways to connect with students and keep them engaged, motivated, and safe in a digital world. It is inspiring to see how technology is helping educators and students maintain learning continuity,” said Manish Prakash, Country General Manager-Public Sector, Health and Education, Microsoft India. Microsoft academic solutions is enabling learning and continuity schools in India. The British School in New Delhi moved to Microsoft Teams to enable its teachers and students interact and collaborate in remote learning scenarios. Others such as The Ardee School in New Friends Colony (NFC) had started with remote learning via Teams even before the schools were shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving to Teams has provided teachers new tools to engage with their students remotely. While some teachers are using Kahoot quizzes at the end of their classes, others are encouraging students to create and share content using Sway, Buncee, and Paint 3D. To replicate the test environment, teachers are also sharing Microsoft Forms on Teams, which they need to fill and send back. In order to create compelling, engaging, and inclusive content to ensure strong student engagement under new remote learning formats, educators are turning to a central hub of digital tools for remote learning across different activities while maintaining secure learning environments. The new ‘Teams for Education’ features are aimed at increasing student participation and give educators’ new methods to keep students digitally engaged.
  1. Accommodate 49 participants at once on a single screen: Teams will be expanding its grid view to 7×7, accommodating up to 49 participants to boost student engagement, as well as social and emotional connection. Previews will be available later this month and available more widely later in the year.
  2. Virtual breakout rooms: Educators will be able to create virtual breakout sessions for students to meet and collaborate in small groups closer to the end of the year.
  3. Enhancing student participation: In ‘Teams for Education’, students can digitally Raise Their Hands during class meetings. Educators can also see Attendance Reports and, later in the year, view Class Insights, an intelligent data analytics breakdown on student engagement in class, rate of assignments turned in, activity metrics and grades, with a new trends view.
  4. Meeting Lobby: Maintaining student security and control over the classroom experience is critical. New meeting options in Teams prevent students from starting meetings unattended, allows educators to determine who can present in a meeting, and give educators the ability to ensure only assigned students can join a meeting.
  5. Customized images and personalize learning spaces: With people working, living, and learning in shared spaces at home, in addition to using background blur and pre-selected background images, students and teachers can customize their own images and as a result, personalize their own learning space.
  6. Partner integrations: ‘Teams for Education’ now also includes integrations with Kahoot, Prezi, GO1, Nearpod, Piazza, Gaggle, Moodle, Canvas, and others. Microsoft will continue to add partner integrations making it easier for schools and universities to use Teams.
Microsoft will also continue working with a number of global non-governmental and non-profit organizations like UNESCO and UNICEF to harness technical expertise to support communities around the world with the highest need. Starting the first day of WWDC, anyone can search and view the forum discussions to follow along, and Apple Developer Program members will be able to post their own questions and learn directly from Apple experts.” During the June 23 to 26 period, developers will be able to request an appointment with the Apple engineers who helped build the latest advances in Apple platforms, offering one-on-one technical guidance and in-depth details on how to implement new features. Developer Labs will be open to Apple Developer Program members as space is available. Moreover, developers are encouraged to download the Apple Developer app where additional WWDC20 information will be shared ahead of June 22. Information will also be made available on the Apple Developer website and by email. Meanwhile, Apple celebrated the next-generation of coders and creators from all over the world with the announcement of finalists in the Swift Student Challenge, an opportunity for students of all ages to showcase their love of coding by creating their own Swift playground. While WWDC20 will bring together the largest group of innovators and entrepreneurs ever assembled to connect, share, and create, there will also be 350 Swift Student Challenge winners from 41 different countries and regions. The students were chosen based on their original Swift playground submission, part of Apple’s annual WWDC student challenge, which recognizes and celebrates the next generation of coders and creators. Among the 350 Swift Student Challenge winners is 19-year-old Palash Taneja from New Delhi, India. Four years ago, he contracted a severe case of dengue fever, a mosquito-borne virus that left him hospitalized. According to Taneja, who just finished his freshman year at the University of Texas at Austin, “That whole experience of two to three months of suffering — I think that really inspired me to learn programming and to use it as a problem-solving tool.” Palash Taneja, then, drew on his own experience with illness to help others. He went on to create a web-based tool that uses machine learning to predict how mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever would spread. For his Swift Student Challenge submission this year, created against the backdrop of COVID-19, Taneja designed a Swift playground that teaches coding while simulating how a pandemic moves through a population, showing how precautions such as social distancing and masks can help slow infection rates. He created it to help educate young people, after he saw others not taking warnings seriously. A man ordered a body lotion worth Rs 300 via Amazon and delivered Bose SoundSport Free wireless earbuds priced Rs 19,999

Many times, we came across so many incidents where many customers have complained of mistakenly being delivered with wrong products or of cheating related to other purchases or with regard to payment on e-commerce websites in India. But this time something unexpected happened, a person ordered a lotion from Amazon and received Bose earphones worth Rs 19,000. This incident happened in Pune, Maharashtra where a man ordered a body lotion worth Rs 300 via e-commerce website Amazon. Instead of receiving the lotion, he was delivered Bose SoundSport Free wireless earbuds that retail in India around Rs 19,000. The man who orders the lotion is Pune-based Gautam Rege who duly informed the e-retailer and shared what he got delivered on Twitter. But instead of getting this returned the company asked him to keep the wrongly delivered order or the earphones as the shipment was non-returnable. Interestingly he also shares in his tweets that the company has also given him a refund of Rs 300 for not delivering the lotion. Soon after this, his series of tweets became viral and other users also shared similar experiences on the microblogging site. One of the users revealed that sometime back he ordered an after-shave lotion worth Rs 180 on Amazon but surprisingly he got a wrong shipment and he received a Lenovo Tab 4. In another Tweet, Kalyan Gandhapu shared that he ordered a Dell Monitor worth Rs 13,000 and instead of that he received Colin bottles, garbage, etc. To set the things right when he informed this to Amazon, they say the order is non-refundable.  Pune-based Gautam Rege has also shared pictures of what he delivered. In the pictures, one can also see a packet of 2-liter Surf Excel Matic liquid. In response, many users shared hilarious comments as well as suggestions. Take a look at people’s reactions to this incident. This is not the first time we came across such an incident. Last year a Bangalore based engineer delivered a fake Apple iPhone 11 Pro model. The images, as well as videos of the fake phone, have also gone viral on the web. The phone looked like an iPhone but had different internals and it runs on Android instead of iOS.
