Samsung launched SpaceMax Family Hub Refrigerator in India, supports the Internet of Things (IoT)

The South Korean smartphone company today announced that it has expanded its Internet of Things (IoT) product portfolio in India with the launch of the SpaceMax Family Hub Refrigerator. The refrigerator is now available for pre-bookings via e-commerce websites till July 26. According to the company on the pre-bookings, buyers can get Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite for free along with cashback offers.

“Leveraging the interconnected world that we live in, we are delighted to introduce the IoT-enabled SpaceMax Family Hub™ refrigerator that is part of the next technology revolution. SpaceMax Family Hub™ will become the epicentre to control, manage and view other connected devices in a home and its intelligent features will enable busy families to stay better connected to one another. With this new addition, we are expanding our IoT product portfolio in India,” said Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, Consumer Electronics Business, Samsung India.

SpaceMax Family Hub Refrigerator pricing and availability

Samsung has launched the latest SpaceMax Family Hub in a Premium Black Matt finish. The refrigerator will be offered with a special price of Rs 196,990 for the 657-liters variant. It is now available for pre-booking until July 26 via Flipkart, Samsung.com, Reliancedigital.in, Croma.com and Vijaysales.com.

The pre-booking offers include an additional cashback of up to Rs 9,000 along with free Galaxy Note 10 Lite Rs 37,999. After the pre-booking ends the refrigerator will be available at Rs 2,19,900.

SpaceMax Family Hub Refrigerator features

SpaceMax Family Hub Refrigerator comes with a feature such as automate meal planning allowing the user to see inside the refrigerator from anywhere while letting it connect with other smart appliances at home such as smartphones. It also lets the users watch their favourite TV show on the refrigerator’s massive entertainment screen while working in the kitchen.

The smart refrigerator features a 21.5-inch FHD touch screen display with 25-watt speakers. The SpaceMax Family Hub Refrigerator comes with a Home Control feature allowing the user to control and monitor their connected appliances such as Samsung FlexWash washing machines and Samsung Galaxy smartphones from the Family Hub screen. 

While the Food Management feature gives the user access to what’s inside the fridge anytime, anywhere without opening the door. In addition to this, the Home Entertainment feature lets you enable music as it comes with high-quality speakers moreover it can mirror your smartphone or TV to the Family Hub screen. 

The family members can also integrate their schedules, share pictures and text messages by using The Family Connection feature on the refrigerator’s touchscreen. Google for India 2020: Everything you need to know about Sundar Pichai’s 10 Billion USD investment plan in India

The sixth edition of Google for India event has kick-started virtually owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Digital India, Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google and Alphabet, said that the country has made huge progress in getting Indians online. Now to help India become a leading digital economy, Sundar Pichai announced that the tech giant will invest Rs 75,000 crore ($10 billion) into India over the next 5-7 years.

The implementation of this Rs 75,000 crore Google for India Digitization Fund will be a mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments. “This is a reflection of our confidence in the future of India and its digital economy,” he added.

It was further revealed that these investments worth Rs 75,000 crore will focus on four areas important to India’s digitization:

  1. First, enabling affordable access and information for every Indian in their own language, whether it’s Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi or any other
  2. Second, building new products and services that are deeply relevant to India’s unique needs
  3. Third, empowering businesses as they continue or embark on their digital transformation
  4. Fourth, leveraging technology and AI for social good, in areas like health, education, and agriculture

While addressing the Google for India 2020 event, Pichai stated, “One of the challenges of this moment is that we can’t visit the people we love, or the places we call home. During this time, the ability to be online has been a lifeline to so many of us: whether you’re a small business trying to stay afloat…a parent looking for updates on how to keep your family healthy … or a student trying to keep up with your studies. Being helpful in these moments is at the core of Google’s mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”

Currently, people in India no longer have to wait for technology to come to them as a whole new generation of technologies are emerging in India first. “It’s been incredible to see the rapid pace of change unfolding over my past few visits. From the excitement of young people using the latest apps and services, to the ways people are using smartphones to improve lives in rural villages, to the more than 2,500 Indian YouTube creators who each have over a million subscribers,” added Pichai.

Stating that just four years ago, only one-third of all small businesses in India had an online presence, Sundar Pichai informed that around 26 million SMBs are now discoverable on Search and Maps, driving connections with more than 150 million users every month. Besides this, he added that small merchants across the country are now equipped to accept digital payments. This has made it possible for more small businesses to become part of the formal economy, and it improves their access to credit. The COVID-19 pandemic has supercharged the adoption of digital tools. Google Digital payments, for example, have enabled families across India to access goods and services during lockdowns.

Pichai further added that people are currently facing a difficult moment in India and around the world. He concluded by stating that “The dual challenges to our health and to our economies have forced us to rethink how we work and how we live. But times of challenge can lead to incredible moments of innovation. Our goal is to ensure India not only benefits from the next wave of innovation, but leads it. Working together we can ensure that our best days are still ahead.”

Ubisoft Forward Event: Watch Dogs Legions, Far Cry 6, Assassins Creed Valhalla and other titles announced

Last night Ubisoft made some of its significant announcements about its upcoming games such as Assassins Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legions, Far Cry 6 and more. Besides this, the company has also announced that its upcoming second part of its Ubisoft Forward event will be held later this year. During the event, the company will be announcing a slew of more titles. If you somehow missed Ubisoft’s presentation at E3 here is a quick recap.

Watch Dogs Legion

Watch Dogs Legion is the company’s latest hacker based Watch Dogs series that will be available from October 29 coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and as well as Stadia. The event the company exhibited the first trailer of the gameplay. According to the company this gameplay[ay allows the player to recruit and play as anyone; it could be a hacker, an old lady or anyone. This game will be based on London post Brexit which has captivated by criminal entities subsequent to a series of bombings. The game will have cross-platform purchase support meaning PS4 or Xbox One players can avail their copies on the PS5 or Xbox Series X for free. The price of the Legion has been set at Rs. 4,000 on consoles and $44 that translates to Rs 3300 for Epic.

Watch Dogs 2 free

This gameplay will be available for free and to avail, a copy of this one should have an Uplay account. Visit the Ubisoft website to register and log in to download the Uplay client for desktop.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is set to release next year on February 18 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC and Google’s Stadia. In this game, the character of Giancarlo Esposito is playing President Anton Castillo of an island called Yara. This is the sixth edition of the Far Cry series. This series of games can be purchased at Rs 4,000 on consoles and $44 that translates to Rs 3300 for Epic.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

This game will be launched on November 17this year on PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC via Epic, Uplay and also supporting cross-platform buy for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is similar to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Origins. It is built upon times of Vikings following the Norse mythology. One can transform into a male or female Eivor along with an option to dual-wield axes, swords, and shields.

Hyper Scape

It is a battle royale first-person shooter game that is now available as an open beta for PC and can be downloaded via UPlay service. It includes a collective of four game modes: 3v3 Crown Rush Squad, 100-player free-for-all Crown Rush Solo, and limited modes Hack Runner Squad and Turbo Mode Squad. The company has announced that the Hyper Space ‘season 1′ is arriving to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in summer 2020.

Brawlhalla

Brawlhalla is the company’s fighting game coming to Android and iOS devices this August 6. The game will be available to single-player, co-op, and local and online competitions with customisable controls, cross-play features.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint

The game is coming with customisable AI teammates on July 15. It will be bringing new events such as Resistance with 14 new rewards unlocking between July 16- July 29.

After Intel, Qualcomm Ventures, the investment arm of Qualcomm Incorporated, has committed to invest up to Rs 730 crore in Jio Platforms to support the subsidiary of Reliance Industries on its journey to rollout advanced 5G infrastructure and services for Indian customers.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, said, “Today, I am delighted to welcome Qualcomm Ventures as an investor in Jio Platforms. Due to the coronavirus pandemic this time the company has planned to host a virtual event where the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai along with Ravi Shankar Prasad,  Hon’ble Minister of Communications, Electronics and IT, Law & Justice is going to address the event. In addition to this other minister along with the company’s senior executives will be part of the event and making announcements.

OnePlus Nord AR lunch invites now available via Amazon India website

Last week OnePlus confirmed an AR lunch event for its upcoming affordable smartphone, OnePlus Nord, in India. The launch is set for July 21 while the pre-booking to kick off on July 15 via Amazon India website. In a new development, the company has now started selling the launch invites just prior to the launch of the new device.

According to OnePlus Nord’s dedicated microsite created on the Amazon India website, the OnePlus Nord launch invites are available for purchase in India. Those interested can purchase the invites to be able to experience the new OnePlus phone in augmented reality (AR). The launch invite has been priced at Rs 99. After purchasing it the customers have to download the OnePlus Nord AR app for Android and iOS devices via  Apple App Store or Google Play to join the virtual launch. As said earlier you will be getting an AR hands-on experience on the device you will be using to watch the launch event.

According to the company at the launch, invite carries a QR code that the user needs to scan it on the AR app in order to enter the virtual launch event. For this on-screen instruction can also be followed. In addition to this, the company will also be hosting a Launch Day Lottery on Amazon for the invitees of the OnePlus Nord launch assuring them a free gift.

To recall the OnePlus Nord AR launch event will begin at 7.30 PM IST on July 21. While the pre-orders of the device will open on July 15 via Amazon.in. To pre-book OnePlus Nord consumers have to pay an amount of Rs 499. For this amount, you are getting a gift box containing limited-edition merchandise from OnePlus.

Alongside the new device, the company is also expected to launch its first truly wireless earbuds. Those are speculated to be known as OnePlus Pods which the company has started teasing on all its social media accounts just days before the official launch of the OnePlus Nord. For this, the company has shared an image in which one can see its Bullets Wireless, Bullets Wireless 2, and Bullets Wireless Z headphones. The Tweet reads, “A throwback picture? Not quite. A sign of what’s next in line? Maybe.”

While the OnePlus upcoming earbuds are tipped to be listed in the subscription section of Amazon India, therefore, indicating the launch soon.

Samsung Unpacked 2020 event is confirmed for August 5 next month. There at the event, the company is most likely to launch its next iteration of Note and the foldable smartphone- Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Note 20. Ahead of the launch event, a video promo of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G has been leaked on the web showing the foldable device from all the sides. The device looks similar to the LTE version of the Galaxy Z Flip also some key specifications of the upcoming device have also appeared online suggesting minor changes in terms of design and internals.

A famous tipster Evan Blass on its Twitter account has shared a promo video of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G suggesting slight changes over the Galaxy Z Flip that was launched back in February. However, it definitely supports 5G which the original model did not offer. As per the tipster, the foldable phone will appear in a new Mystic Bronze colour option which the leaked video also confirms.

According to Max Weinbach the only significant change coming to the device is on the part of the chipset. The handset will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor while its 4G model offers Snapdragon 855+. He did mention that only a “negligible amount” of changes will be there in the part of the dimensions. He says the device will be 0.5mm thicker and 0.1mm taller while the Software is One UI 2.5 and the battery is also the same. The camera set up also remains the same as the former model along with the same sensor too.

In the meanwhile, Galaxy Z Flip 5G has been listed on the Samsung Hungary website with a model number SM-F707B. It is important to note that the model number is the same as what was spotted on Geekbench listing last month.

Last month the Foldable device appeared on China’s regulatory body TENAA’s website with model number SM-F7070 stating there will be two batteries, a 2,500mAh and a 704mAh battery for a total capacity of 3,204mAh. It is suggested to come with a 6.7-inch foldable AMOLED display with1,080×2,636 pixels of resolution and a secondary 1.05-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 112×300 pixels. It is said to measure 167.3×73.6×7.2mm.

Another leak suggests that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC and have dual cameras on the back, a 12-megapixel and a 10-megapixel, along with a 12-megapixel selfie camera. While the battery is said to have 15W fast charging support.

Ahead of much-awaited launch of Redmi Note 9 in India, Xiaomi has once again increased the price of its Redmi Note 8 in the country which now starts at Rs 12,499 for the 4GB+64GB variant.  Mind you! The hike of Rs 500 is already being showcased on Mi India online store. Several news reports have revealed that the price of Redmi Note 8 smartphone has also increased at retail outlets.

On the other hand, Xiaomi hasn’t yet changed the price of the 6GB+128GB variant of Redmi Note 8 as its cost still remains Rs 14,499 on Mi India online store as well as in the offline markets.

If you are a MacBook user, Apple has now revealed some important information regard how you can protect the display of the device. A recent blog post on Apple Support has notified that if you are closing your Mac notebook with a camera cover on, it might damage your display. According to Apple, Mac notebooks have a camera indicator light to help you know when the camera is on.

The blog post further informed that if you close your Apple Mac notebook with a camera cover installed, you might damage your display because the clearance between the display and keyboard is designed to very tight tolerances.

Moreover, Apple stated that covering the built-in camera in your MacBook might also interfere with the ambient light sensor and prevent features like automatic brightness and True Tone from working. As an alternative to a camera cover, the user can use the camera indicator light to determine if his/her camera is active, and decide which apps can use the camera in System Preferences.

Furthermore, the tech giant has asked the MacBook users to watch for the green camera indicator which is fitted in Apple products to protect their privacy and give them control over the information. Besides this, Apple added that he FaceTime HD camera built into your Mac computer is designed with your privacy in mind and uses a camera indicator light that glows green when the camera is active. So you will always know when the camera is on.

Interestingly, Apple has engineered its MacBook’s camera in a way that it can’t activate before the camera indicator light turns on. This is how you can tell if your camera is on.

With on-screen fingerprint sensor and facial recognition gaining popularity in smartphone market, Google seems not to be attracted by this latest trend that is featuring in most of the recently-launched handsets. A latest news report has revealed that the Pixel 5 Series and Pixel 4a will still carry the “standard” rear fingerprint identification module.

According to an IT Home report, the Pixel 5 series and Pixel 4a will use a “standard” rear fingerprint recognition module. This report came after Onleaks, a well-known foreign source, released the Pixel 5 Series as well as the Pixel 4a family renders. As can be seen from the images, Google Pixel 5 Series includes the Pixel 5, Pixel 5 XL, Pixel 5 XL 5G. Mind you! All three products are seen to be fitted with a rear fingerprint identification module.

The Pixel 4a also uses a rear fingerprint. Recall that Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL cut off fingerprint recognition and adopted 3D face recognition. However, the new products in 2020 all use rear fingerprints. At the same time, this information cannot be confirmed until the device is launched this fall.

Furthermore, another news report has leaked Google Pixel 5 design. According to Pigtou, Google Pixel 5, which is stated to be a compact Google’s flagship phones, will likely be 144.6mm long, 70.4mm wide and 8mm thick. If there is a camera bump on the back, the thickness will go up to 9.5mm. As compared to Apple iPhone 11, Google Pixel 5 leaked design specification hints that the device is smaller.

Meanwhile, Google has announced New Pixel features for personal safety. The Personal Safety app on Pixel 4 will now be available on all Pixel devices, and car crash detection is also coming to Pixel 3. Mind you! Car crash detection is not available in all languages or countries.

“We’re introducing new safety features, too, like safety check, which schedules a check-in from the app at a later time. For example if you’re about to go on a run or hike alone, safety check will make sure you made it back safely. If you don’t respond to the scheduled check-in, the app will alert your emergency contacts. In the event that you need immediate help or are in a dangerous situation, emergency sharing notifies all of your emergency contacts and shares your real-time location through Google Maps so they can send help or find you,” said Tok Tokuda, Technical Program Manager, Google Pixel.

Google further revealed that to be ultra-prepared, the users can enable crisis alerts in the Personal Safety app to get notifications about natural disasters or other public emergencies.

In order to allow developers publish progressive PWAs in the Google Play Store, news reports have revealed that Microsoft has joined hands with Google. The aim behind this move is to make the web a more enhanced app platform.

Under this collaboration, PWABuilder.com, which is Microsoft’s open source developer tool, and Bubblewrap, which is Google’s command line utility and library to generate and sign Google Play Store packages from Progressive Web Apps, will be working together to ensure that more improved apps are available on your phone.

Moreover, the collaboration between Microsoft’s PWABuilder and Google’s Bubblewrap motivates developers to use toolkit by Microsoft. On the other hand, it paves way for Google to connect with developers who build Android-friendly web apps.

According to a report appeared on Medium, the collaboration between Google and Microsoft also showcased PWAs reaping the benefit by announcing new features like Web shortcuts support and Advanced Android features and customization.

While the new web shortcuts supports PWAs packaged for Google Play through PWABuilder, the Advanced Android features and customization allows Microsoft’s PWABuilder to provide access to a wide array of web activities that further enhances PWA experience on Android devices.

Samsung introduces HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T soundbars to enhance in-home audio experience

With the unveiling of two new premium models including HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T, Samsung Electronics has now rounded out its full 2020 Q-series soundbar line-up. Both the HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T support Dolby Atmos – which transports listeners with immersive, moving audio that flows all around you, along with DTS:X from DTS for multi-dimensional audio technology. They also include eARC support to produce full, rich and high-quality surround sound like Dolby TrueHD.

“In collaboration with Audio Lab in the US, we have been able to develop multi-dimensional surround sound that can be more accessible at home, which was previously only possible with a separate home-theater system,” said Seong Cho, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Product Marketing of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. Mind you! All Samsung soundbars are tuned at the Samsung Audio Lab in Valencia, California.

According to Samsung, The HW-Q950T delivers the audio quality of 9.1.4-channel, the maximum number of channels for currently available home-theatre systems in a single soundbar. The model packs in extra-powerful sound with two wireless rear up-firing speakers and also adds left and right wide channel speakers to the previous 7.1.4-channel system, allowing the audio output to express the motion on the screen in a more realistic way with greater immersion.

Consumers can further enhance the immersive experience by connecting the soundbars to Samsung’s 2020 QLED TVs. Q-symphony activates and plays surround sound from both the TV and soundbar, creating incredible audio synergy with compatible TVs.

In HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T soundbars, Samsung has also improved product design by reducing the height of both of models to 69.5mm from 83mm to fit perfectly with the TV. Moreover, the soundbars are also wrapped in Kvadrat textile to add premium elegance while maximizing sound penetration. “In addition to improving sound quality, we also focused on fine-tuning the soundbar’s design aesthetic by using eco-friendly textiles, made by Danish premium brand Kvadrat,” added Seong Cho.

Besides this, the HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T soundbars by Samsung also feature SmartThings App and Alexa voice service that enables users to command their favourite music streaming services, like Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn and iHeart Radio. Music lovers can also now enjoy their favourite music with a simple tap as the Tap Sound feature allows the music from your smartphone to be sent directly to the soundbar.

However, we are yet to discover about the pricing and availability of these HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T soundbars by Samsung.

Now a ‘Catch and Kill’ air filter can instantly remove COVID-19 virus: Know how

With the increasing concern over airborne transmission of coronavirus, a paper published in Materials Today Physics has now revealed that a group of researchers from the University of Houston, in collaboration with others, have designed a “Catch and Kill” air filter that can trap the virus responsible for COVID-19 and kill it instantly.

This ‘Catch and Kill’ air filter research team comprises of Zhifeng Ren, director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at UH, collaborated with Monzer Hourani, CEO of Medistar, which is a Houston-based medical real estate development firm along with other researchers to design this virus-trapping machine.

As per the research, Virus tests at the Galveston National Laboratory discovered 99.8 percent of the novel SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, was killed in a single pass through a filter made from commercially available nickel foam heated to 200 degrees Centigrade, or about 392 degrees Fahrenheit. Furthermore, the research team stated that it also killed 99.9 percent of the anthrax spores in testing at the national lab that is run by the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Stating that this filter could be useful in airports and in airplanes, in office buildings, schools and cruise ships to stop the spread of COVID-19, Ren, MD Anderson Chair Professor of Physics at University of Houston, and co-corresponding author for the paper, said, “Its ability to help control the spread of the virus could be very useful for society.” Luo Yu of the UH Department of Physics and TcSUH along with Dr Garrett K. Peel of Medistar and Dr Faisal Cheema at the UH College of Medicine are co-first authors on the paper.

According to Ren, Medistar executives are is also proposing a desk-top model, capable of purifying the air in an office worker’s immediate surroundings. “The Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TcSUH) was approached by Medistar on March 31, as the pandemic was spreading throughout the United States, for help in developing the concept of a virus-trapping air filter,” he added.

With businesses reopening, controlling the spread in air conditioned spaces was urgent as the researchers knew the virus can remain in the air for about three hours. Therefore, a filter that could remove the virus quickly was a viable plan. Medistar was aware that the virus can’t survive temperatures above 70 degrees Centigrade, about 158 degrees Fahrenheit, so the researchers decided to use a heated filter. Therefore, the researchers claimed that they were able to kill the virus almost instantly by making the filter temperature far hotter.

In addition, Ren suggested using nickel foam as it is porous, electrically conductive and flexible. At the same time, nickel foam has low resistivity that makes it difficult to raise the temperature high enough to quickly kill the virus. The researchers solved that problem by folding the foam and connecting multiple compartments with electrical wires to increase the resistance high enough to raise the temperature as high as 250-degree Celsius.

According to the research, “A prototype was built by a local workshop and first tested at Ren’s lab for the relationship between voltage/current and temperature; it then went to the Galveston lab to be tested for its ability to kill the virus. Ren said it satisfies the requirements for conventional heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.”

“This novel biodefense indoor air protection technology offers the first-in-line prevention against environmentally mediated transmission of airborne SARS-CoV-2 and will be on the forefront of technologies available to combat the current pandemic and any future airborne bio-threats in indoor environments,” said Cheema.

Both Hourani and Peel have stated that there will be a phased roll-out of the device. This will be started with high-priority venues like schools, hospitals and health care facilities as well as airplane. The move will improve safety of frontline workers in essential industries as well as it will enable non-essential workers to return to public work spaces, concluded the researchers.

Sony has now invested $250 million to acquire a minority interest in Epic Games. This investment allows Sony and Epic Games to broaden their collaboration across Sony’s leading portfolio of entertainment assets and technology and Epic Games’ social entertainment platform as well as digital ecosystem to create unique experiences for consumers and creators.

Asserting that Epic Game’s powerful technology in areas such as graphics places them at the forefront of game engine development with Unreal Engine and other innovations, Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman, President and CEO, Sony Corporation, said, “There’s no better example of this than the revolutionary entertainment experience, Fortnite. Through our investment, we will explore opportunities for further collaboration with Epic to delight and bring value to consumers and the industry at large, not only in games, but also across the rapidly evolving digital entertainment landscape.”

While Sony and Epic Games have both built businesses at the intersection of creativity and technology, both the companies share a vision of real-time 3D social experiences leading to a convergence of gaming, film and music. However, it was also revealed that the closing of the $250 million investment by Sony in Epic Games is subject to customary closing conditions that includes regulatory approvals.

Apart from this $250-million investment by Sony in Epic Games, Sony had earlier announced that it will establish a research company “Sony Research India Private Limited (Sony Research India)” effective July 1st, 2020. Sony Research India consists of R&D Centre India Bengaluru Laboratory and Mumbai Laboratory as part of Sony’s Global R&D centres.

With this move to create a research company, Sony will seek to leverage its multi-sites structure and talent for the excellence of its research. Sony Research India also aims to accelerate the collaboration with its entertainment and electronics business groups, while further enhancing competitiveness and capability of research and development in India.

Intel revealed new details about Thunderbolt 4 that will offer docks with up to four Thunderbolt ports and universal cables up to 2 meters in length. Intel’s upcoming mobile PC processors, code-named “Tiger Lake,” will be the first to integrate Thunderbolt 4.  According to Intel, Thunderbolt 4 controller 8000 series comprises of:

  1. JHL8540 and JHL8340 host controllers for computer makers
  2. JHL8440 device controller for accessory makers

As per Intel: The first computers and accessories with Thunderbolt 4 ports are also expected to be available this year, including laptops based on Intel’s innovation program code-named “Project Athena.’’ Besides this, the tech company also notified that Thunderbolt 4 developer kits and certification testing are now available.

“Thunderbolt provides consumers with a leading connectivity standard across a range of devices, helping to advance computing experiences and delivering on the promise of USB-C with simplicity, performance and reliability. The company has announced this feature so that the users can access Alexa using their Smartphone but here is a catch first you have to take the help of Google Assistant or Siri on your phone to open the Alexa app on your phone to make it happen.

While announcing this feature the company stated, “Today, Amazon announced hands-free access to Alexa in the Alexa app. With this update, whether on the treadmill or out for a walk, customers can now just ask Alexa to control smart home products, make shopping lists, listen to music and more when the Alexa App is open on the screen.”

using the feature one can easily wake up Alexa on their mobile phones using their voice. This functionality works just similar to how you access Alexa on your Echo devices. This means one doesn’t need to take the hassle to first pressing the blue Alexa button on the app to activate the voice assistant. Unfortunately, one needs to keep the phone screen or the phone unlocked. For us, this feature is of no use until it can be used without having to unlock our device and launch it first. Or in that case, you have an option to shift to a device with Alexa as a voice assistant. Amazon already sells Alexa enabled smartphones such as Moto X4 and others to let you access Alexa using the command of your voice. If you are not comfortable with the idea of replacing your phone then for hands-free access on the Alexa app the users first need to tell the Google Assistant on their Android phone or Siri on iPhone to open the app. For instance, just say, Hey Siri/Google open Alexa app and unlock your phone using fingerprint or face unlock.

The Alexa hands-free functionality for the convenience of the user in addition to the Windows devices with the Amazon music app comes with the ability to allow them to play their favourite music using their voice. The Alexa hands-free capability is available on both iOS and Android platforms to access, customers will need to update their Alexa app or download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Users can turn the feature on/off at any time in their mobile app settings.

Once the wake word is detected, an animated blue bar will appear at the bottom of the screen, indicating Alexa is streaming your request to the cloud. Here are a few examples of on-the-go experiences customers can set up:

  • “Alexa, remind me to call Mom at 12 pm tomorrow” 
  • ”Alexa, play workout mix”
  • “Alexa, add rice to my shopping list”
  • “Alexa, pay my electricity bill”
  • “Alexa, switch on the living room lights”

We have been playing DOTA (Defence of the Ancients) since the last 17-18 years when it was just a map in the popular strategy game Warcraft 3. Developed by IceFrog it was one of the most popular game and it entered professional stages in ESWC (Electronic Sports World Cup) and WCG (World Cyber Games) in the early 2000s. Then came the turn of DOTA 2, which came to life in partnership with Valve, with IceForg still at its helm.

Today, the game is the most popular 5 Vs 5 online strategy game, which comes with a number of tournaments for both professionals and novice. Their biggest event is “The International” that is held every year, which also brings a Battle Pass with it. Sadly, because of the pandemic, The International event was cancelled but Valve did 2020 version of the Battle pass out.

The Dota 2 Battle Pass 2020 can be bought by gamers at a price. This brings a lot of goodies like treasures, spin wheels, arcanas, announcer packs and more. These open up as one levels up in the battle pass, by completing challenges or by buying more levels for additional bucks.

DOTA 2 Battle Pass 2020 has also a new great feature of Guilds. Where gamers can build or join a guild. Here they can level up together in a group of maximum 50. With each level up the guild members get new rewards and also some gloating rights. Today we bring you the list of top 10 Dota 2 Guilds in India (we will try to keep this list as updated as possible). There is a close fight between the top 4. However, one guild called ThuGs has raced to the top coming from position 5/6 couple of weeks ago. We spoke to the ThuGs guild leader ‘Tsunami’ and asked him a few questions on how he built this guild and what all did he and fellow guild members do to get to the top spot.

  • How was the journey of the guild? We saw you coming from number 5 to number 1 quickly.

The journey was not the easiest, we had to make sure members know each other better so our leaders and admins made the extra effort of playing with each other. So, people can understand each other’s play style and bring synergy within the guild. This took a lot of time but eventually, things started working in our favour and it quickly got us from top 5 to top 1.

  • How much do the guild players play during a day?

60% of the guild members play for 6-7 hours a day, due to the current pandemic situation. Whereas people who are working from home they play for 3 to 4 hours every day.

  • What do you do differently to run your DOTA2 guild?

We have players from different parts of the country and they hardly knew each other. We had to keep the motivation up and introduced give away as a small thank you for members who put in hard work. This really paid off. Over that, we have a strong administration department, which talks to each member and helps them in case they are not able to complete contracts. The key is healthy play and keeping the motivation up.

Seems like Tsunami has his guilds things in order, which is why we see them at the top of ranks in India and in top 40 of the world.

Oppo Watch coming to India in July alongside Oppo Reno 4 Pro

Oppo Watch, which was launched a few months back in China is now coming to India soon. Oppo Watch is the company’s first smartwatch that is available in two different sizes of 41mm and 46mm. The smartwatch comes with an AMOLED display with curved glass similar to the Apple Watch. The wearable is supported by eSIM and offered in two colour options.

According to a report, the first smartwatch from Oppo was recently certified through FCC suggesting a global launch. Over that Oppo, Watch has also received BIS certification confirming its debut in India also. The report suggests that the device might arrive alongside Oppo Reno 4 Pro that is expected to launch in the third week of July. So, in the coming next two weeks, the device might hit the shelves alongside the smartphone.

In China, Oppo Watch is made available with fluoro rubber strap three colour variants black, gold and silver. The smartwatch comes in 41mm and 46mm size. The 41mm model has been priced at CNY 1,499 that translates to Rs 16,000 while the latter one comes in two metal frames with different pricing. The aluminium frame comes at CNY 1,999 that translates to Rs 21,500 while the stainless-steel variant comes with a price tag of CNY 2,499 that translates to Rs 26,000.

Oppo Watch specifications and features

Oppo Watch comes with a curved flexible AMOLED display with two physical buttons.  The 46mm chassis features a 1.91-inch OLED screen offering 402 x 473 pixels of resolution along with 326ppi pixel density. While the 41mm chassis comes with a 1.6-inch AMOLED display with 320×360 pixels resolution. It runs on a proprietary OS ColorOS Watch OS and is compatible with Android devices only. 

The wearable offers various fitness tracking features, music playback, heart rate monitoring, water-resistance up to 50 meters, and eSIM support. The Oppo Watch is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 SoC and switches to Apollo processor when it is put on power saving mode along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.  The 46mm variant is 5ATM water resistance rated whereas the 41mm variant is 3ATM rated. The 41mm boasts a 300mAh battery whereas the 46mm variant houses 430mAh battery. The Watch is supported by Oppo’s latest VOOC fast-charging, that claims to charge the Oppo smartwatch from zero to 46 percent in just 15 minutes. On a full charge, it lasts up to 40 hours with normal usage or up to 21 days with built-in power-saving mode.

Apple releases the first public beta for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 globally

Last month Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference 2020 (WWDC20) was held virtually where the company raised the curtains of its next generation of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. At the event, the Cupertino-based tech giant said to roll out the public beta in July. So now the company has released its first public beta of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 and is now available for download. The best part is that this time the beta release is available for the general public also other than just developers.

How to download public beta 1 of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14

In order to download the first public beta of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 one needs to sign up for the  Apple Beta Software Program using their Apple ID. On the website doubts and queries related to the Beta update will be answered under the FAQ section. Before you begin to download the beta release on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad It is important that either get data back up of all your data or download the beta on a secondary device so that all your important data is safe as the beta release might carry bugs and other issues.

After getting registered to the Beta program head to Settings > General > Software Update to begin download. While downloading the update keep your phone completely charged or at least 50 percent battery is recommended.

iOS 14 public beta

Apple has launched the public beta of iOS 14 and is the company’s next biggest software update for the iPhone users. The next iteration of iOS brings a redesigned UI with Apps Library to view multiple apps on a single screen and allows the users to keep them well organised while also allowing you to hide certain app pages and let you search the apps in the search bar at the top. The ability to pin widgets to the home screen,  a Smart Stack widget can now be added that will have all your relevant widgets. Apple voice assistant Siri has been redesigned and a new app called Translate has also been announced that also works offline. While the conversation mode to view your translations easily along with an upgraded Messages app with more Memoji customisation options with new hairstyles, headwear, and face covering and an ability to pin a message, inline replies to iMessage, a new group message icon and a lot more. A new version of Apple Maps and Safari browser along with CarPlay which is the company’s platform for in-car entertainment.

Additionally, the company has also released the first public beta of iPadOS 14. At WWDC2020 Apple announced a new feature called Sidebar just like macOS. A new toolbar at the top of the calendar along with a new dedicated button to wake up Siri has been added to the bottom to make better use of the large screen. The call will be seen on the top in a small window instead of acquiring a whole screen. Additionally, a for Apple Pencil through handwriting support with scribbling feature to convert handwriting into text. It also brings a new compact design for FaceTime and Siri.

Realme C11 budget smartphone set to launch in India on July 14

The Chinese smartphone company Realme is all geared up to launch another new phone in the Indian market. July 14 is the launch date set for the release of the company’s upcoming Realme C11 in the country. This is the same device which was launched in Malaysia last month. This is the Realme’s new budget offering to come with a 5,000mAh battery, dual rear camera setup and a water drop-style display. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 SoC.

Realme C11 expected pricing and launch details

According to the company, Reame C11 will be launched in India on July 14. The launch event will begin at 1 PM IST. As there is no physical launch so a pre-recorded online launch will be held that is going to be live-streamed via the company’s official YouTube channel across all its social media platforms.

The Realme C11 was launched in Malaysia with a price tag of MYR 429 that translates to Rs 7,600 for the single 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There it is now available in two colour options Mint Green and Pepper Grey. So, we can expect the same price for the India variant also.

Realme C11 specifications

Realme C11 runs on Realme UI skinned on top of Android 10. It comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ water drop style display with 720×1600 pixels of resolution along with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 88.7 percent screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage along with an option to expand the memory using a microSD card.

On the back of the phone, there is a dual rear camera set up that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a secondary 2-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. While on the front there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture. The camera app on the phone supports various modes like AI Beauty, Filter Mode, HDR, Portrait Mode, and Timelapse.

The connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm audio jack. In terms of the sensors, it has an accelerometer, ambient light, and proximity sensor. The device houses a 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver 12.1 hours of gaming, 31.9 hours of talk time, and up to 40 days of standby time on a single charge.

Lava, an Indian smartphone manufacturer has announced the launch of its new mobile phone in India. The company has introduced Lava Z61 Pro under the budget segment. However, the device lacks a fingerprint scanner support but there is an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Moreover, there is a 5.45-inch HD+ display and is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core processor.

Lava Z61 Pro Pricing and Availability

The new mobile phone from Lava, Z61 Pro has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs 5,774 for a single 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage. The smartphone will come in two colour options Midnight Blue and Amber Red. According to the company, this device will be available for purchase via e-commerce website Flipkart, Amazon as well as offline retailers in India.

Lava Z61 Pro comes with a 5.45-inch HD+ display with old-style bezels on all sides of the display along with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by an unnamed 1.6GHz octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The internal memory is expandable and can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

On the back of the phone, there is a capsule-shaped camera module consisting of a single 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash support. For taking selfies there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The camera supports features like portrait mode, burst mode, panorama, filters, beauty mode, HDR and night mode.

In terms of connectivity option, the smartphone includes Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB OTG support and a Micro-USB port. As we mentioned before the device lacks a fingerprint scanner but it does have support for face unlock. The Lava Z61 Pro houses a 3,100mAh battery. Though the Indian phone maker has been missing from action for quite some time the company seems to be back again as the prevailing anti-China sentiments in India might also benefit the company.
