Google will not just translate, but will help you pronounce difficult words too

Google has released a new function in Google translate that will help users practice difficult words while providing their meanings. This new function is a test and only works for US English as of now. This is a great update for people looking to practice their English pronunciation. Google will also be adding imagery into their dictionary to assist visual learning.

As Google explains it, the previous version of translate only offered a word’s pronunciation to users. Now, however, users can both hear and pronounce the word into the phone’s microphone for feedback on pronunciation. This feature currently supports American English, with a Spanish option soon to follow.

This feature works on advance speech recognition technology, which converts spoken words by separating them into individual sound recordings.  Later, through machine learning, it checks the user’s pronunciation with the expected pronunciation. It gives the user this information as feedback later.

“Studies have shown that practicing how to say a word can be helpful for remembering it, especially when you’re learning a new language. Previously, when you searched for things like “how to pronounce quokka,” you could play audio and hear the word. With the new pronunciation feature, you’ll be able to also practice saying “quokka” into your phone’s microphone and receive feedback on what, if anything, can be adjusted in your pronunciation,” the Google blog post says.

Some words will get a visual representation with their translations and/or definitions as additional content. This feature will be implemented first with nouns and expanding from there. In other words, when a user searches for a word or a definition, an image may pop up to make the message clearer. Images will be featuring in Google’s dictionary and will be available in English and all its translations very soon.

We for one, hope this new feature in Google translate will help people learn better by practicing visualising and pronouncing new words to learn a different language. It is a great way for people to learn difficult words too and understand US English better.

Nokia tied up with Flipkart and Harman to foray into the Television segment with a Smart TV

Just like OnePlus, Xiaomi and Motorola now Nokia is also entering into the Television industry. To launch its own Smart TV the company has partnered with e retailer Flipkart to develop as well as put it in the market. Lenovo owned Motorola also joined with the e-commerce platform Flipkart to develop and sell their smart TVs in India.

Many reports also suggest that the Nokia TV will be featuring a 55-inch 4K display and has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards. This means the Television will first debut in India. To take over other brands Nokia will bring a 55-inch screen along with a 4K UHD LED panel. Besides this, the Smart TV will run on Android 9.0 and will come to Google Play Store preinstalled on the device that will allow the users to access various apps along with popular video streaming software.

As per reports, Nokia Smart TVs will come supported by an Intelligent Dimming technology that will provide better display quality along with superior contrasts and profound blacks. It also comes pre-installed with popular video apps such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix among others.

The smartphone manufacturer Nokia has also tied up with Harman Audio to make use of JBL sound technology. Here we would also like to mention that JBL sound technology will be the first time used in a Television.

Till now both Nokia, as well as Flipkart, have revealed that when they will launch the Nokia Smart TVs, but we can expect it to arrive in the market in the month of December. As we already know many companies like Xiaomi launched its own Mi TV, OnePlus launched OnePlus TV and Motorola its own Smart TV.

As said, prior to this OnePlus and Motorola launched their TV in India for the first time. Motorola introduced 32-inches smart TV with an asking price of Rs 13,999. Whereas OnePlus launched its OnePlus TV Q1 with a 55-inch display at Rs 69,900 and OnePlus TV Q1 Pro with a price tag of Rs 99,900.

Panasonic announced the launch of its new smartphone in India Panasonic Eluga Ray 810. The smartphone comes with a 4,000mAh battery along with a MediaTek Helio P22 processor. It features a 6.2-inch display with a wide boat-shaped notch. The company has given dual camera setup on the back panel and a 16-megapixel primary camera. Panasonic introduced Eluga Ray 810 in India with a price tag of Rs 16,990 and can be purchased via e-commerce platform Flipkart. The company has launched the smartphone in a single RAM storage variant of 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The handset will be available in two colour options Starry Black and Turquoise Blue.

Panasonic Eluga Ray 810 comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS display with 720 x 1,500 pixels of resolution and the company has provided a layer of Panda protection on it. The smartphone runs Android Pie 9 Pie and is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 SoC clocked at 2.0GHz.It is combined with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage can also be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card.

The Sale is called Flipkart Mobile Bonanza which has already begun and will go on till November 18. Flipkart kicked off Mobile Bonanza sale from November 14 to November 18. Apple has launched the 16-inch MacBook Pro with a magic keyboard in India

The Cupertino giant, Apple, has finally launched 16-inch MacBook Pro that the company claims it to be the “world’s best pro notebook”. The all-new Apple MacBook has been specially designed to target developers, photographers, filmmakers, scientists as well as music producers.

This Apple MacBook Pro replaced the 15-inch model. The laptop comes with a 16-inch Retina Display powered by the latest 8-core processors coupled with 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage memory.

In addition to this, the brand new laptop features a new Magic Keyboard with a redesigned scissor mechanism and 1mm travel. According to the company, the new MacBook delivers the best typing experience ever in a Mac notebook. It also comes with a six-speaker sound system, longer battery life, Touch Bar, Touch ID, the Force Touch trackpad and the Apple T2 Security Chip.

“Our pro customers tell us they want their next MacBook Pro to have a larger display, blazing-fast performance, the biggest battery possible, the best notebook keyboard ever, awesome speakers and massive amounts of storage, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers all of that and more,” said Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing.

Like we mentioned earlier MackBook Pro features a 16-inch display screen, this comes with 500 nit brightness, which is P3 wide color gamut Retina display. 3,072×1,920 pixels of resolution and a higher pixel density of 226 ppi is also what this screen has. The laptop comes with a new Magic Keyboard that also includes features like Escape key and an inverted-“T” arrangement for the arrow keys, along with Touch Bar and Touch ID.

For faster performance, the company has equipped 16-inch MacBook Pro with 6 and 8-core 9th-generation Intel processors with Turbo Boost speeds up to 5.0 GHz. This is combined with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The company has also included new AMD Radeon Pro 5000M series graphics coupled with GDDR6 video memory and with an 8GB VRAM option.

In terms of connectivity, the Notebook includes 4Thunderbolt 3 ports to support USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps) and DisplayPort video output. Also, there is Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5 along with a 720p FaceTime camera. The laptop has been introduced in two colour variants — Silver and Space Gray.  The laptop is soon going to be available in India now and at a starting price of Rs 1,99,900.

Realme-5s smartphone teased by the Company, to possess 5,000mAh Battery

The Realme 5s is expected to be an upgraded version of Realme 5 that was launched in August earlier this year. The Realme 5s will come with a 5,000 mAh battery, the same as its predecessor. The India CEO of the company, Madhav Sheth, announced this recently. He also mentioned the presence of a 48-megapixel quad camera setup on the phone’s backpanel.

Even after his statement, it still leaves us puzzled about what are the key differences between the Realme 5 and the Realme 5s. The Realme 5s is all set to be released on November 20 with the Realme X2 Pro. And till then the company is tight lipped about the rest of the smartphones features.

“As promised, the second surprise launching on 20th Nov. is the all new #realme5s with 48MP Quad Camera and 5000mAh battery,” Madhav Sheth said in a tweet.

Apart from these two features, we do not know anything from official sources about the Realme 5s. Currently, it is possible that the Realme 5s might turn out be an exact copy of the Realme 5 with an addition of a 48-megapixel main shooter. Other possibilities are RAM and storage upgrades.

Talking about the Realme 5 launched earlier in August this year, it possesses a 6.5-inch HD+ screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery. The phone also had a quad rear camera setup that is headlined by a 12-megapixel primary camera. The other three cameras are an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel portrait camera.

According to reports, the Realme 5s will be a better and improved version of its predecessor, which was released earlier this year. We now know that the main camera offers a 48 MP sensor compared to the mere 12 MP on Realme 5. We believe this will be a key difference between the phones.

As said, the Realme 5s will be having a 48MP quad camera setup, while everything else remains similar to the Realme 5. This means that the Realme 5s will also have a Snapdragon 665 SoC. There are also speculations that the Realme 5s will come with a 6.5-inch HD+ display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ on top.

We are sure many fans are looking forward to the launch, thankfully for them, November 20 is not too far away.

If we talk about the foldable design Motorola Razr looks exactly similar to the iconic version of Moto Razr but with a 6.2-inch flexible OLED HD+ screen. Whereas Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with a 7.3-inch dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display.

The phones when folded carry a 2.7-inch Quick View display and a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Display respectively. As per your preference if you want a phone with a larger display then you can choose the latter one and if you are looking for a much compact version then go for the Motorola Razr.

Now if we compare the cameras Fold has six cameras whereas Razr has two cameras. As for the pricing, Motorola has not launched the phone in India and also did not revealed the Indian pricing so we should wait till January when the company officially brings the revamped version of the iconic smartphone in the country.

The Brave browser comes with in-built anti trackers and ad blockers. The browser also claims that it does not store user’s data. Over that, the browser possesses a dashboard, which shows the number of ads and trackers the browser has blocked during an internet browsing session.

“Browse confidently with default settings that block phishing, malware, and malvertising. Also, plugins, which have proven to be a security risk, are disabled by default. Brave Sync, currently in beta, can be enabled to encrypt and synchronize your preferred settings and bookmarks. However, Brave does not have the keys to decrypt your data,” the company said on its website.

Apart from the extended security feature, the browser promises 3x to 6x faster browsing than its main competitors, Chrome and Firefox. To prove this, the company has also posted a video comparing the browsing speed on the three browsers.

The beta version had more than 8 million monthly users who rated the browser positively.

In today’s day and age, built-in ad-blockers are a rare find amongst browsers. Most browsers offer ad blockers as an extension. Brave is different as it offers a plausible solution in the form of Brave Ads, a form of ads that pay you to view them without accessing your data. Brave also has a scheme under which users can also tip creators and contribute to monthly websites. By turning on “brave rewards”, a user can earn tokens by watching ads. These tokens can be used to donate to your favourite content creator or websites.

Brave ads will appear as push notifications instead of the banners we see on all other browsers.

Brave says that the ads being shown will be targeted to the participating user and that none of the user’s private information will leave the browser. The user can also control the number of ads they are shown during each hour.

Loyal Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A users in India now can have access to the MIUI 11 update. Along with the MIUI update, these two phones are also receiving the October Android OS security patch.

The MIUI 11 broke the monotony of an MIUI 10 users life when it was launched with its unique features. These features include but are not limited to, a redesigned interactive user interface, an always on display, great personalisation tech and many unique features. MIUI 11 also brought in the Gaming toolbox 2.0, which allowed gamers to play uninterrupted by notifications.

As mentioned, the updates for both the smartphones bring the latest October Android security patch. This is probably the first time a Redmi user is going to get a security patch as soon as it was let out by Google.

Motorola Razr will be officially launched earlier next year in the month of January and will be available exclusively via Verizon in the US as well as in the Canadian market. And it will start taking pre-orders for the handset from December 26. The Lenovo owned company Motorola has introduced the device with a price tag of $1,499.99 that translates to Rs 1,07,400 in India. However, the company has not revealed the Indian pricing as well as it availability. But has set up a registration page where you can get yourself registered and get notified whenever the phone arrives in India as well as to get its updates.

Motorola Razr specifications and features

The all-new Motorola Razr carries a clamshell design. The handset looks similar to the older version of the Moto Razr but this time it comes with a water-repellent body. As we already know that Motorola Razr is a foldable smartphone so when the phone is folded it has a 2.7-inch Quick View display that offers 600×800 pixels of resolution on the outside. The screen can be used to check notifications, enable Google Assistant, control music as well as take selfies.

The camera is supported by Night Vision mode to make sure the phone clicks bright pictures under low light situations. The main display notch also houses a 5-megapixel camera inside it to take selfies.

On the connectivity front the phone supports eSIM cards and NFC also there is Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE as well as GPS for connectivity. The device measures 72x172x6.9mm when unfolded and 72x94x14mm when in a folded state. The foldable device weighs 205 grams.

Coming on the imaging capabilities, Redmi 8 sports an AI-powered dual rear camera set up. A recent bug exposed that Facebook is using your iPhone’s camera

There have been numerous reports that Facebook has been violating the privacy of its users. Even the US congress had questioned them about the same. Now another bug has been reported, (we still do not know if it was an actual bug or deliberate) which enables Facebook to use the camera on your Apple iPhone to scout on you.

Thanks to a user, Joshua Maddux who reported this bug in the iOS version of the mobile app on Twitter. We now know about a new bug on the iOS 13.2.2 version’s Facebook app. He has shared footage where viewers can see his camera actively working in the background without him starting it up.

Maddux claims that he saw the same issue on five iPhones running iOS 13.2.2.

We also found out that users didn’t see it on iOS 12 or iOS 13.1.3. This issue only crops up if the Facebook app is given access to your device’s camera. Which is misuse of a user’s privacy policy.

On the 13th of November, Facebook gave a statement calling the camera recording as a bug and that they are working on fixing it.

“We recently discovered our iOS app incorrectly launched in landscape. In fixing that last week in v246 we inadvertently introduced a bug where the app partially navigates to the camera screen when a photo is tapped, we have no evidence of photos/videos uploaded due to this.” Facebook VP of Integrity Guy Rosen tweeted.

This privacy issue is concerning considering the number of Facebook users who have iPhones running on iOS 13.2.2. We sure hope that this bug will be fixed soon, if you are on this version of iOS on your iPhone, then our recommendation is to keep the Facebook app in a dormant state or remove it for the time being. Till there is a permanent fix for the issue.

Japanese photography and imaging giant Fujifilm launched their new camera the Fujifilm X-A7 on Monday, November 11. This new addition to the X series range of lightweight mirrorless digital camera is what every vlogger would want to get their hands on. The camera promises amazing image quality coupled with Fujifilm’s colour reproduction technology.

The company, in a statement said that the X-A7 is the ideal choice for video makers who are looking for a compact yet advanced photographic device. The Fujifilm X-A7 includes of a 3.5-inch LCD monitor to guarantee easy and effective operability.

This device is the first X Series model that features a “vari-angle” monitor, which lets its users adjust it to various angles. With a retro-stylish design, weighing at a mere 320g, this device offers many features including the newly developed 24.24 MP APS-C sensor. This enables the tracking of face and eye detection easily. Up to 51,200 ISO levels are also supported by this camera. Formats like JPEG, RAW and RAW+JPEG are also there on the X-A7.

Using Bluetooth, the Fujifilm X-A7 can automatically transfer stills and videos to a pre-paired smartphone or tablet device. This can be done via the free FUJIFILM Camera Remote app for smartphones and tablet devices. The enhanced connectivity enables easy and instant sharing of your favourite photos on social media, too.

Google Maps now allows its user to manage their public profile within the app

Popular search engine Google has started rolling out a new update for Google Maps in which it now allows its users to edit their profile. With the new update, Google gives full control to the users over their profile. Previously it only permitted the users to manage their public profile using the app but now they are allowed to change their profile picture as well as edit or remove their bio.

Now the Google Maps users able to edit and manage their profile and before they were only allowed to check up on their Local Guides points. With the new profile tab, the users have control over their profile. It now allows you to display your photos, reviews, lists, and other Maps content.

With the new update, you can now change your Google name along with your profile picture. Other than that you can also add a short bio to your profile. From now onwards Your name, photo, and bio will always be showcased on your profile. You can now manage your account settings and privacy controls.  Now you can search your past contributions and posts and find the views and likes on your contributions.

In order to change your name and profile picture open the Google Maps app on your Android device. You will find name and photo at the top of your Maps profile. Then tap the Menu button then Your Profile option after that tap Edit Profile and then Edit name and photo After entering your preferred name and choosing a profile picture tap Save.

To let other users also know more about yourself you can also Add a short Bio to your Google Maps public profile. The Bio can bee seen by every even you have hidden your contributions on your profile. To Tap on the Menu option within the Google Maps app. The Tap on Your Profile Option and then Edit Profile. Now  you can write a short bio of yours with up to 500 characters. After writing Bio tap Save. You also get an option to Delete your Bio within the profile settings.

Besides this, if you ae Local Guide now you can check your level, points, and badges in the Google Maps app. Within Your Profile option, you can view your local guide level and points under your name and check your badges and number of contributions tap the arrow icon.

US-based company Skullcandy announced the launch of new wireless earbuds Vert in India. The earphones are clip-anywhere wireless earbuds that are purpose-built with sport-specific features. The newly launched device is available via Skullcandy official website.

WhatsApp is causing a battery draining issue on OnePlus devices as reported by many users on Social media platforms as well as OnePlus forums. Recently the Facebook-owned company rolled out new update supporting fingerprint lock for Android devices. After the update may users found out that WhatsApp has started consuming more battery.

“So I only read threats about this topic on a few older devices from OnePlus and that are a while ago. But my OnePlus 7t Pro is 4 days old and I have a problem with Whatsapp draining my battery. It mostly uses the battery in the background… It may not seem that much, but on all my other phones Whatsapp was one of the least battery consuming app. Will OnePlus or Whatsapp do anything about that?” a user reported the issue on OnePlusForum.

A high drain of battery on the OnePlus device has not only been reported by users using older devices but the latest launched devices such as OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition have also been facing the same issue. Users reported that the average idle drain of the battery of 33 – 40 percent.

Some reports also suggest that devices running Android 9 and 10 operating systems are the only ones being affected. Other smartphone brands such as Apple, Google, Samsung as well as Xiaomi are also reporting similar issues. Samsung newly launched  Galaxy Note 10 series and Samsung Galaxy S10 series users have reported increased battery drainage after installing the latest update from Whatsapp.

The instant messaging app Whatsapp last week released WhatsApp’s latest update for iPhone. After which the users complained about similar problems due to the nonstop activity of WhatsApp in the background.

Due to the battery draining problems on the latest WhatsApp version is impacting the battery life of devices running iOS 13.2 and iOS 13.1.3. “Some users (included me) are experiencing battery drain using WhatsApp for iOS 2.19.112. In particular, Battery Usage reports a high usage of the app in background. Do you experience the same issue?” issue raised by the WABetaInfo Twitter account.
