Is the iPhone 12 the best smartphone for gaming?

Apple has always been at the forefront of innovations in the smartphone market, ever since it released the original iPhone in 2007. That trend looks set to continue, with the iPhone 12 already making waves after its October release. The 14th generation of iPhone has undergone a few notable upgrades in its specifications, meaning that its gaming capabilities are much higher than its predecessors. For this reason, the 2020 offering could be set to once again change the face of the smartphone industry. Indeed, it could bring about a major shift in the way people play mobile games.

The Specs

Buyers of the iPhone 12 can choose between the standard iPhone storage options of 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. The new phones use the six-core Apple A14 Bionic processor, which is the brand new version of the central processing unit. The company claims that this runs up to 40 percent faster than the A12 version and 13 percent faster than the A14’s predecessor, the A13. It contains a next-generation neural engine, two Firestorm cores for high performance, and four Icestorm cores that are energy efficient. These enhanced specifications will vastly improve the smartphone’s capabilities. In addition to performance, the display will be crisper and clearer than ever before. It uses Super Retina XDR OLED technology, a higher quality option that has been talked up for some time. In terms of resolution, the iPhone 12 offers 2532×1170 pixels with 460 ppi pixel density. One aspect that may be appealing to gamers who are at risk of dropping the phone on a regular basis is the Ceramic Shield. This glass-ceramic covering that was developed in collaboration with Corning Inc. makes the iPhone 12 tougher than any other smartphone and four times more likely to survive a drop.

What Does This Mean For the Gaming Market?

There is no doubt that the advanced specifications on Apple’s latest device will have a huge impact on the mobile gaming industry. In the early days of smartphones, simple, pick-up-and-play offerings reigned supreme because they loaded quickly and didn’t require state-of-the-art technology to work. But now that phones are capable of so much more, this could be set to change. Of course, some games will still enjoy massive playing figures on the mobile screen. Casino titles, for instance, entered the latest phase of their evolution on mobile and this is now the preferred platform for online casino players. Some of the top Vegas online slots, such as Book of Dead, Monopoly Big Event, and Spartacus: Gladiator of Rome look much better when played from the smaller screen as the picture quality is more refined. Developers create new slots with mobile players in mind, and portable devices are one of their main considerations. One of the most notable things about the iPhone 12 is its ability to play console-level games. Anyone who purchases the iPhone 12 series will be granted three months of access to Apple’s online gaming platform and Google Stadia rival, Apple Arcade. Because mobile players will now be able to play advanced games like Team Sonic Racing, The Pathless, and Dread Nautical, other mobile developers may look into how they can also offer a more advanced game library. There is no denying that the iPhone 12 has some seriously powerful capabilities and could be about to change the mobile gaming scene. The biggest development could be the introduction of Apple Arcade, which will bring a console-style gaming experience to the portable phone. Google to roll out smart features and personalisation settings for Google apps including Gmail

The tech giant Google will be adding a toggle to personalise your Google apps. For this, it has introduced two new settings allowing the users to control Google smart features and personalisation in their Gmail, Meet and Chats. So now you can easily turn off smart features such as tabbed inbox, Smart Compose and Smart Reply in Gmail; reminders when your bills are due in the Google Assistant; and restaurant reservations in Google Maps. As per the recent blog post by Google, soon the users will be able to get control of their data in Gmail, Meet and Chat with the help of new settings. This will bring the ability to enable or disable some of these individual smart features such as sorting your emails into different inbox tabs, like Social or Promotions, allowing Gmail to help you write emails faster using the Smart Compose feature. You can even turn on or off the smart reply feature in Gmail and Google Assistant reminders, calendar events, summary cards and more. The upcoming setting will allow all the users if they want to continue using these smart features and giving you choice over the data processing that makes them possible. The blog post says, “The ability to turn on (or not) some of these individual smart features is not new. What’s new is a clearer choice over the data processing that makes them possible. These new Google settings are designed to reduce the work of understanding and managing that process, in view of what we’ve learned from user experience research and regulators’ emphasis on comprehensible, actionable user choices over data.” Option to personalize other Google products with Gmail, Chat and Meet data Those who are unaware of, Google allows smart features in Gmail, Chat and Meet allowing personalisation based on your content. It allows automatic email filtering, smart compose, summary cards above emails (travel, package e tracking and more) and extracting event details to create calendar entries. So, when you choose to turn this off then this will disable or degrade the performance of the above features and more. And at any time if you want to go back to the older settings you can easily turn the smart settings on. In addition to this, it also sends assistant reminders of your bills that are due while maps display restaurant reservations, travels bundling your itineraries and GPay surfacing loyalty cards and tickets. These features can be easily disabled and can turn this back on in Gmail settings. According to the tech giant, Google ads are not based on your personal data in Gmail, no matter which choice you make. And you are said to remain in control of your data, whether you’re an individual Gmail user or a Google Workspace administrator. “If you decide not to use smart features and personalization, you will still be able to use Gmail and our other products. And if you decide later on that these features are helpful and you’d like to turn them on, you can do so in your Gmail settings. At home or at work, the choice should be yours. And we’re always working to keep it simple,” the blog post stated. SpaceX’s Starlink reportedly provides 175Mbps Internet speed in adverse weather conditions

0
Starlink, which is a space satellite-Internet service by SpaceX, reportedly provides its users rapid speeds that reaches 175Mbps even during adverse weather situation. According to a Business Insider report, the Reddit Starlink community showcased posts by users of SpaceX’s “Better Than Nothing Beta” in order to prove that the Starlink terminal still works during storm, deep snow, and freezing temperatures. The Reddit Starlink community further notified that there was no deposit of snow on or underneath the terminal that comes with the Starlink kit. On the other hand, a few users reported that while the speed still seemed tolerable, zoom call kept dropping audios and video like it had big swings in ping. With performance that far surpasses that of traditional satellite internet, and a global network unbounded by ground infrastructure limitations, Starlink aims to deliver high speed broadband Internet to locations where access has been unreliable, expensive, or completely unavailable. Starlink is targeting service in the Northern U.S. and Canada in 2020, rapidly expanding to near global coverage of the populated world by 2021. SpaceX’s Starlink is on the leading edge of on-orbit debris mitigation, meeting or exceeding all regulatory and industry standards. At end of life, the satellites will utilize their on-board propulsion system to deorbit over the course of a few months. In the unlikely event the propulsion system becomes inoperable, the satellites will burn up in Earth’s atmosphere within 1-5 years, significantly less than the hundreds or thousands of years required at higher altitudes. Meanwhile, NASA has also announced it has certified SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon human spaceflight system for crew missions to and from the International Space Station – the first commercial system in history to achieve such designation. Not since the certification of the space shuttle nearly 40 years ago has NASA certified a spacecraft, rocket, and ground support systems for regular flights with astronauts. Launched atop Falcon 9 on May 30, 2020, Dragon’s second demonstration flight test to and from the space station restored human spaceflight to the United States for the first time in almost a decade. That flight was the culmination of years of development, testing, and training—all throughout safety remained SpaceX’s top priority. SpaceX put every component of every system through its paces, including two flight tests to and from the International Space Station, demonstrations of Dragon’s escape system both on the launch pad and in-flight, over 700 tests of the spacecraft’s SuperDraco engines, more than 500 joint soft-capture docking tests to validate the performance of Dragon’s docking system design, about 8,000,000 hours of hardware in the loop software testing, and nearly 100 tests and flights of Dragon’s parachutes to ensure a safe landing back on Earth—in addition to all of the knowledge gained from twenty previous successful cargo resupply missions to the space station and over forty Falcon 9 block 5 launches.
