The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Black Shark is all set to launch its new gaming smartphone in the European market. This time the company is going to launch two new smartphones Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro. The new series of gaming devices is now scheduled to arrive on May 8 to the other markets. To recall the smartphones were introduced earlier in March this year. Both the flagship devices come with a 90Hz display, powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset and a triple rear camera set up consisting of a 64-megapixel primary sensor.Black Shark has announced that the 2020 gaming range of smartphone Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro are making their way to Europe next week on May 8. The company revealed the information via its official website. The smartphones will be available for open sale on the same day. The devices were launched in China this year in March. In the Chinese market, the Black Shark 3 retails at CNY 3,499 (approximately Rs 37,360) whereas the Pro model comes at CNY 4,699 (Rs 50,173). The pricing of both gaming smartphones is a bit higher than its predecessor but is much affordable than other devices being offered by other brands.Black Shark 3 comes with a bezel-less design with 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution and packs a 270Hz touch sampling rate along with 90Hz refresh rate. Whereas Black Shark 3 Pro features a larger 7.1-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with 1440×3120 pixels of resolution. It offers a 90Hz refresh rate, 270Hz touch sampling and an in-display fingerprint scanner.Under the hood, there is a top of the line octa-core Snapdragon 865 processor paired with 12GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The pro model houses a 5,000mAh battery whereas the vanilla variant comes with a 4,720mAh battery. Both the batteries are supported by 65W wired fast-charging.For shutterbugs, both Black Shark gaming devices sport a triple rear camera set up with the same camera sensors. The camera set up includes a 64MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. For selfies both the smartphones come with a 20MP front-facing camera.

After being spotted on Google Play listing, now the pricing of the device has been leaked on the web suggesting a global launch soon. The upcoming Poco F2 series is going to be the rebranded variant of Redmi K30 series. In the past, we came across so many leaks related to the Poco F2 series. The upcoming series is going to succeed the company’s very popular Poco F1. The company is now tweeting a GiF with a hashtag #WakeUpPoco. This is supposed to be the company’s new marketing strategy indicating the arrival of its new variants. This means that the all-new Poco F2 series is going to hit the shelves soon. However, the shared teaser did not reveal the launch date of the device, but it might happen later this month. The teaser has been posted on the company’s Global Twitter account so the Poco F2 Pro is expected to get a global launch and will be available in India also.
The pricing of the upcoming device also got leaked hinting the arrival of the smartphone. The pricing has been tipped by a Portuguese publication suggesting that Poco F2 Pro will be offered in two RAM and storage variants. The pricing of the device has been shared by its trusted source that “guaranteed” the prices. The 6GB of RAM with 128GB storage variant will be available with a price tag of EUR 649 that translates to Rs 53,300 whereas the 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage model has been priced at EUR 749 that translates to Rs 61,600. If these are the actual prices for the Indian market then it will be tough to sell here, so we think the prices will be somewhere near what is below.The Poco F2 Pro is speculated to be a rebranded variant of Redmi K30 Pro. The smartphone was launched later in March this year with a price tag of CNY 2,999 (around Rs 32,500) for the 6GB with 128GB variant while the 8GB with 128GB option and the 8GB + 256GB model comes at 3,399 CNY (around Rs 36,000) and CNY 3,699 (around Rs 40,000) respectively. If these rumours and leaks are to be believed then Poco F2 Pro will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The device is expected to run MIUI 11 based on top of Android 10 OS. The smartphone will be 6.67-inch full-HD+ HDR10+ AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 pixels of resolution and 1,200 nits of peak brightness.It will feature a quad rear camera setup that will include a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel macro lens, a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor with 123-degrees of Field of View and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It will get a 4,700mAh battery support with 33W fast charge.

The American smart wearable manufacturer FitBit is now working on its next wearable product. The next release from the company will be a 4G enabled wearable for the kids. Yes, the Fitbit smartwatch for kids is in the pipeline and would be the company’s offering specifically for youngsters. The search giant acquired Fitbit just after the smartwatch company bought Doki. Google announced that it is going to buy Fitbit for $2.1 billion (approximately Rs. 15,000 crores). In the past, Doki has manufactured kids smartwatches such as dokiWatch, dokiWatch S and dokiPal. The interesting feature that Doki’s platform offers is the inclusion of a SIM card giving 4G cellular coverage to kids without having to connect to your smartphone. Before Fitfit had to seek help from other companies for 4G coverage. Doki’s self-built platform comes with safety tracking features, video calling and voice calling via mobile app. If these rumours are believed then the Fitbit’s upcoming kids wearable will come with 4G connectivity. It will help the parents to keep a check on their kids all the time. The children can make a call to their parents similar to Spacetalk’s kids smartwatch also allowing parents to leave a message for them. The last Doki’s device is Dokipal which included a physical “Doki SIM” that offers unlimited data to more than 50 countries at $9.99 per month. It is still unclear if the company is going to come up with all the features for the Fitbit kids smartwatch.To recall, Fitbit launched smartwatches for kids Fitbit Ace in the year 2018 and Fitbit Ace 2 was introduced last year in 2019. Dell XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700 laptops got accidentally listed on its official website prior to its official launch. The official Dell France website listing revealed all the specifications of both the devices. The listing has not been removed after a short period of time but somehow Notebookcheck was able to gather all the information. In terms of design, the Dell laptops will be featuring thin bezels and are lighter in weight than its predecessors. Dell XPS 15 and XPS 17 2020 models pictures were posted by some Reddit users from the official website. The device comes with the latest 10th Intel Core processors. According to the listing, Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop is going to carry a similar design just like its Dell XPS 13 that got launched earlier this year. The upcoming Dell laptop is expected to come with a compact design with thinner bezels. It will also have a carbon-fibre deck with new speaker placement. It is going to measure 14.7×9.8×0.8 inches and weigh 5.5 pounds that are approximately around 2.5 kilograms. Moreover, it is suggested to feature a 17-inch display with 1920×1200 pixels of resolution along with a 4K touchscreen option. It will be powered by Intel Core i9-10885H CPU with up to 64GB of RAM and up to 4TB of SSD storage. The processor is paired with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 for graphics.

During this critical situation when the whole world is struggling in the tech industry has been hit by the pandemic the smartphone shipment falls to 13 per cent to 272 million units. In the first quarter, the demand for mobile phones dipped. Samsung managed to regain its first position but its shipment fell 17 per cent to 60 million. According to a report by Canalys, the smartphone market was doing good when it entered 2020. But in February when coronavirus was spreading in China the brands were mostly worried about how they were going to meet the global demand as most of the industries were shut. When the situation came into control, half of the world entered lockdown. Canalys Senior Analyst Ben Stanton said, “Smartphone manufacturing has now recovered, but as half the world entered a lockdown, sales plummeted. Poor business results, employee redundancies and furloughs are causing a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty. Smartphones are still a necessity for most people, and device availability in online channels has enabled those who need to replace a broken or lost phone to do so. But many customers who would have bought a new smartphone as a luxury have delayed that purchase.”Image Courtesy: CanalysAccording to the report, Smasung was one of the brands who could withstand the impact. Huawei shipped 49 million, as its mix continues to shift toward China and away from overseas markets due to its US Entity List status. Due to its ongoing US Entity List problems its shipment dropped down to 35%.Whereas Apple was least affected due to the sale of the iPhone 11 in the early stages of the quarter. To overcome the loss the company just launched the iPhone SE. The company aims to increase the shipment of its device as its flagship customers await 5G devices. Apple is currently the third-largest vendor, down 8% with 37 million shipments. Whereas Xioami is going well and it continued to retain its position in the top five list with a 9% growth to hit 30 million units whereas Vivo takes the fifth position with 24 million units, up 3%. Quarter second of 2020 will show the peak of the coronavirus’ impact. As countries start lifting the lockdown the full economic damage will become visible.The Counterpoint report also says that “the global smartphone market declined the fastest ever, -13% YoY, during the quarter 5G smartphone shipment share, increased to 8% in Q1 2020 from 1% in Q4 2019 Xiaomi (7%) YoY, and Realme (157% YoY) were the only major brands to achieve growth Apple remained resilient even during the COVID-19 as iPhone shipments declined only 5% YoY Q1 2020” According to the report, the combined market share of the top 10 brands has increased to 83%, from 80% in Q1 2019. The ongoing effect of the pandemic on the smartphone market is likely to be worse in the second quarter of 2020. The impact on the OEMs will depend on the markets, channels, and price bands they operate in with some OEMs affected more than others.

Very recently ve reported that the new Oneplus smartphone OnePlus Z will get launched by July this year. And now the alleged render of the smartphone is here. The recently launched OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 pro comes with a curved display whereas the leaked render shows the OnePlus Z with a flat display as it is expected to be a toned-down variant of OnePlus 8.Many of the reports claim that the upcoming smartphone from OnePlus either be called OnePlus 8 or OnePlus Z. Earlier last month the India Government launched a mobile tracking app for COVID-19 called Aarogya Setu app. The app is available for both iOS and Android users and has been the National Informatics Centre. The app is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19. The app is under a new controversy as the Government has asked all its employees to come to office after they see a “safe” status for commuting by the app. Now according to a new report touts that the Aarogya Setu app will come pre-install to all the latest smartphones in India.Yes, from now on whenever you buy a new smartphone you will see the Aarogya Setu App pre-installed in your device. This is because the Government is planning to make this a mandatory for the owner to register themself on the App even before it is ready to use. According to a report by Mint, the COVID-19 tracking app might come installed in your new smartphones by default. This piece of information has been shared by the publisher’s sources from the industry, one a smartphone maker and the other from the Manufacturers Association for Information Technology (MAIT).As all the manufacturing units in the country remain closed due to coronavirus lockdown the pre-install of the app on the new smartphones will only be possible when the manufacturing of the new devices resumes. The government aims at popularising the app in greater numbers as the Prime Minister is also urging the citizens to download the app in view of coronavirus spread. This would help the government to trace the infected person with the use of the app. Based on the South Korea and Singapore experience of contact tracing the Indian government will be able to make its own efforts through the app. Recently the central government employees have been asked to download the app so that they can come to the office. So before they start for the office they should review their status on the mobile application. When it shows a safe status or low risk then only they can come to the office. In case the app shows ”moderate” or ”high risk” status they are not advised for commuting to the office and should remain at home or self-isolation for 14 days till their status starts showing a safe or low risk. The government has issued this order to all the departments that come under central government and a higher level office ( Joint Secretary) should be responsible to ensure strict compliance of the instructions. They can also issue the same orders to all the autonomous, statutory bodies, PSUs etc attached to them.

In what seems to be a strategy to compete with AMD Ryzen line-up, Intel has now launched its 10th Gen Intel Core S-Series Processor with a boost speed of up to 5.3GHz as games and most applications continue to depend on high-frequency cores. It is achieved with assistance from Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost technology. TVB kicks in when a CPU is sufficiently cooled and power is available for the boost.
According to Intel, the 10th Gen Intel Core S-Series Processor, by bringing world’s fastest gaming processor, provides high framerates, a foundation element for achieving lower latency while playing your favourite game while bearing the multi-tasking workload. Mind you! This is where frequency matters.
The processor also features new Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 that identifies the best performing cores to provide increased performance. According to Intel, the 10th Gen Intel Core desktop processor showcases its two best cores operating in this mode for improved single and dual-core turbo performance. However, Intel notifies that there is no increase in voltage applied.
The new processor by Intel has optimized and threaded features like AI Animations, and physics, for Intel CPU Architecture in order to get maximum number of units displayed on screen while maintaining playable framerates.
The new10th Gen Intel Core desktop processor comes with elite real-world performance for gaming. As per the company, “Developed in partnership with Intel, Dynasty Mode is a new horde-style arcade mode for Total War: Three Kingdoms where you choose three heroes to fight off as many waves of units as you can.”
Besides this, the new processor is also optimized to win Remnant: From the Ashes implemented Software Masked Occlusion Culling utilizing more CPU resources, resulting in better game play. Developed on the Unreal Engine, this game as well takes advantage of years of engine optimization driven in part by Intel’s multi-year engagement with the Unreal Engine.

Titled as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the teaser image lifted curtains of a Norse-inspired character of a bearded viking warrior who stood tall firmly holding an axe in its hand. It is likely that this axe could be seen as one of the combat tools of this interesting game that will take place in the Viking age.

With a rise in demand for its cloud computing services during the first three months of the year, Microsoft has announced that its revenue, which was $35.0 billion, has now increased 15 percent and the net income, which was $10.8 billion, has registered an increase of 22 percent for the quarter ended March 31, 2020, as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year.
Claiming that Microsoft has witnessed two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months, Satya Nadella, CEO of the tech giant, said, “From remote teamwork and learning, to sales and customer service, to critical cloud infrastructure and security – we are working alongside customers every day to help them adapt and stay open for business in a world of remote everything. Our durable business model, diversified portfolio, and differentiated technology stack position us well for what’s ahead.”
In a statement issued by Microsoft, the operating income was $13.0 billion and has now increased by 25 percent while the diluted earnings per share was $1.40 and it has now increased by 23 percent as against the third quarter during the last fiscal year.
Stressing upon Microsoft’s commitment to balancing operational discipline with continued investments in key strategic areas to drive future growth, Amy Hood, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Microsoft, stated, “In this dynamic environment, our sales teams and partners executed a solid third quarter, with Commercial Cloud revenue generating $13.3 billion, up 39 percent year-over-year.”
Microsoft further revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic had minimal net impact on the total company revenue in the third quarter of fiscal year 2020. In the Productivity and Business Processes and Intelligent Cloud segments, cloud usage increased, particularly in Microsoft 365 including Teams, Azure, Windows Virtual Desktop, advanced security solutions, and Power Platform, as customers shifted to work and learn from home. In the final weeks of the quarter, there was a slowdown in transactional licensing, particularly in small and medium businesses, and a reduction in advertising spend in LinkedIn.
Besides this, Windows OEM and Surface benefited from increased demand to support remote work and learn scenarios in the More Personal Computing segment, offset in part by supply chain constraints in China that improved late in the quarter. Gaming benefited from increased engagement following stay-at-home guidelines. Search was negatively impacted by reductions in advertising spend, particularly in the industries most impacted by COVID-19. The effects of COVID-19 may not be fully reflected in the financial results until future periods.
Revenue in Productivity and Business Processes was $11.7 billion and increased 15 percent (up 16 percent in constant currency). Looking more closely, Microsoft has stated that its Office Commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 13 percent driven by Office 365 Commercial revenue growth of 25 percent. Besides this, Microsoft Office Consumer products and cloud services revenue increased 15 percent with continued growth in Office 365 Consumer subscribers to 39.6 million while LinkedIn revenue increased 21 percent.
As per Microsoft, its server products and cloud services revenue increased 30 percent driven by Azure revenue growth of 59 percent. On the other hand, Microsoft Windows Commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 17 percent while Xbox content and services revenue increased 2 percent along with Microsoft Surface revenue registering hike of 1 percent.
As far as Microsoft’s response to COVID-19 is concerned, the company notified “our focus remains on ensuring the safety of our employees, striving to protect the health and well-being of the communities in which we operate, and providing technology and resources to our customers and partners to help them do their best work while remote.”

In order to provide users incredible visual quality and smoother video experiences while using less data, MediaTek has announced that it will enable YouTube video streams using the cutting-edge AV1 video codec on the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G SoC. With this, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 will become the world’s first smartphone SoC to integrate an AV1 hardware video decoder by enabling it to play back AV1 video streams up to 4K resolution at 60fps.
As video streaming is the top most activity that most of the smartphone owners are engaged in, the users can enjoy longer battery life through the Dimensity 1000’s more power efficient hardware-based AV1 video decoder.
“MediaTek is engaged in consistently upgrading its offerings to enhance user experience, and AV1 technology is a prime example. Video is now the most used form of communication, with 70% of Millennials and Gen Z reportedly using streaming services,” said Dr Yenchi Lee, Assistant General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Business Unit.
Combined with its ultra-fast 5G connectivity in a single chip, the Dimensity 1000 leads the industry in design and capability.
It is worth mentioning that the AV1 video codec is creating a landmark change in the video streaming industry. First released in 2018 by the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia), AV1 is royalty-free, crafted to replace the VP9 codec and become the Internet Video Codec (NETVC) standard. AV1 is an ultra-high-performance video codec technology that delivers 30% more compression efficiency over existing VP9.
“AV1 has become an increasingly important format to allow high-resolution playback on handheld devices, and we’re excited that MediaTek has implemented dedicated AV1 hardware to advance its adoption, such as what’s included in their Dimensity 1000 5G SoC,” said Matt Frost, Director of Product Management of Google Chrome.
“As mobile video streaming becomes more prevalent, new use cases like MediaTek’s emphasize the important work of developing next-generation codecs,” added Frost.
As per the Industry reports, the video streaming market is likely to expand at a CAGR of 19.6 percent and touch $124.57 billion by 2025. Mind you! With increased demand for video-conferencing solutions that provide security and reliability together with popular features like tiled view, Google Cloud has now announced that it is making Google Meet, the tech giant’s premium video-conferencing solution, free for everyone with availability rolling out over the coming weeks.
According to the tech giant, anyone with an email address can sign up for Meet starting early May. This would enable a user to gain access to the same features available to G Suite’s business and education users, which includes simple scheduling and screen sharing, real-time captions, and layouts with the expanded tiled view.
The California-based tech giant has revealed, “Google will be gradually expanding Meet’s availability to more and more people over the following weeks. While users might not be able to create meetings at meet.google.com right away, they can sign up to be notified when it’s available.”
Once the roll out is complete, anyone with an email address will be able to use Google Meet for free via meet.google.com and the Meet mobile apps for iOS or Android to schedule, join or start secure video meetings with anyone. The users will require a free Google Account, which only takes a minute to create using your work or personal email address of choice. This step is required as a security measure, and they only need to sign up once. According to Google, “Meetings are limited to 60 minutes for the free product, though we will not enforce this time limit until after September 30.”
For organizations that aren’t already G Suite customers, Google has announced a new edition called G Suite Essentials, which also includes Google Drive for easy and secure access to all of a team’s content, and Docs, Sheets and Slides for content creation and real-time collaboration. In a blog post, the tech giant said, “It’s perfect for teams that need access to Meet’s more advanced features, such as dial-in phone numbers, larger meetings and meeting recording. Through Sept. 30, we’re providing G Suite Essentials and all of these advanced features free of charge.”
However, G Suite’s 6 million existing customers already have access to Meet. Admins simply need to enable Meet by following instructions outlined on Google’s Help Center.
As far as schools and higher education institutions are concerned, Google Meet is included in G Suite for Education, a suite of free Google apps tailored specifically for schools, which serves over 120 million students and teachers globally for high-quality virtual classes, PTA meetings, parent-teacher conferences, tutoring, and even school socials.
