Snapchat rolls out its revamped app for Android users

Snap has finally rolled out its new and revamped Snapchat app for Android, which the company has been working on from the scratch since the beginning of 2018. The revamped Snapchat app is supposed to get the platform’s performance on Android at par with what it is on iOS. Although no visible changes have been made to the actual UI or navigation for Snapchat, the new app is claimed to be faster, less laggy, and less buggy than the version which was available till now. According to Android Authority’s interview with members of Snapchat’s development team, the rewriting of the app was under progress for a long time. At first, Snap just tried to release patches for the issues the old app had, but then it realized that it was required to rewrite the Android version of Snapchat from the scratch in order to achieve the desired results. The revamped Android app is designed keeping in mind the huge Android ecosystem and its wide breadth of hardware. This is particularly true for cameras and processors, whose capabilities differ in different smartphones, as far as Android is considered. However, the upside to this is that now that the major rewrite is done, future updates for the Snapchat app on Android should be easier and faster. Furthermore, the app will get new features at the same pace as Snapchat for iOS.
Speaking about the new development, Snap’s VP of product Jacob Andreou said, “With this new foundation I wouldn’t be surprised if you actually see things starting to come to Android even before iOS sometimes.” In an unrelated piece of news, Snapchat has also been taking steps to woo its audience in India. The app is now available in regional languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Marathi. The company is not only doing this in India, as it has also added support for some other languages including Filipino, Malay, Vietnamese, and Urdu. While the launch of the app in local Indian languages is one of the steps that have been taken by Snap to expand in the country, we should point out this comes four years after CEO Evan Spiegal called India poor and said that Snapchat is “only for rich people.” After this comment, a major chunk of Indian population uninstalled the app and started using Instagram instead. While Snapchat completely denied that the statement was ever made, it did end up losing a considerable number of users. And Snapchat lost became Instagram’s gain.

Lenovo Z6 Pro to be launched later this month, company confirms

0
Lenovo’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Z6 Pro, has been in news since the time it was announced by the company. Earlier it was expected that the Chinese electronics maker would launch the much-awaited Lenovo Z6 Pro smartphone at the MWC 2019, however,  that didn’t happen. At the MWC 2019, the device was just teased by Lenovo. But now, the company has confirmed that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will be unveiled this month itself. Lenovo had published a new teaser on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo where it confirmed that it will be unveiling the device this month. It also confirmed the fact that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Earlier in March, Lenovo’s VP Chang Cheng teased that the device will be able to produce 100MP images. The upcoming Lenovo Z6 Pro will be the successor of the Lenovo Z5 Pro which the company had launched last year in November. Although the company has confirmed the launch of Lenovo Z6 Pro, it has maintained silence on the exact date of the launch date of the device. However, Lenovo has confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm’s flagship CPU for 2019. Lenovo Z6 Pro is touted to be able to produce the 100MP images and will come with 5G connectivity. But the company will also bring out a non-5G variant of the Lenovo Z6 Pro.
Earlier at the MWC 2019 which took place in February, the company confirmed that the upcoming Lenovo Z6 Pro will have a ‘HyperVision’ camera. The said camera will be able to produce ‘Hyper Videos’. However, the company didn’t reveal what it is and how will it work. But Lenovo also said that the device will have 5G connectivity as well. Lenovo was expected to make an announcement about the Lenovo Z6 Pro last month where it was supposed to unveil the device. But instead, the company released a teaser about the phone that it will be able to produce 100MP images. The company had also said that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will go on sale from June 2019 but currently, we will have to wait to know about the launch date of the device. Vivo V15 review: A stunner that can click great selfies

A few weeks ago, Vivo launched its V15 Pro smartphone in India, which we thought was quite a performer. Now, the Chinese smartphone brand has launched Vivo V15 handset in the country that comes with a pop-up selfie camera, a triple rear camera setup and a 4,000mAh battery. We tried the device for a few days and here’s what we think of it:

Design and Display

When we first saw at the Vivo V15 smartphone, it looked completely identical to the Vivo V15 Pro (review). However, its dimensions are slightly bigger than that of its elder sibling. So much so, that you may feel a slight stretch while reaching out to the controls that are on top of the screen. But the curved edges and back panel help one-handed usage of the device. Vivo V15 can be bought in colour options — Royal Blue, Frozen Black, and Glamour Red. The one that we got for review was dressed in Black and Red, and we have to say that it looked really unconventional. Most smartphones with gradient back panels come with colours that are similar to each other when it comes to its shade.
However, Vivo did something completely different by choosing Black and Red, and we thought it looked very beautiful. The company says that the rear panel of the Vivo V15 comes with a Spectrum Ripple Design, which is basically a name that the Chinese smartphone brand uses for the gradient finish. The back panel of Vivo V15 also houses the fingerprint scanner and the camera bump. Vivo branding can also be found here. Vivo v15 2 The smartphone is made of polycarbonate and it has a very sturdy built quality and feels solid to hold. The right side of the smartphone has the power and the volume rocker keys and the left one has a Smart Button that can be used to access Google Assistant or Google Search. Other shortcuts can also be added according to user preference.  The right edge of the device houses the tray for two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. The microUSB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the loudspeaker are placed at the bottom, while the top has another microphone with a pop-up selfie camera. Vivo v15 The front panel of the Vivo V15 smartphone has a 6.53-inch Ultra FullView In-cell full-HD+ display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has a screen to body ratio of 90.95%. Playing games and watching videos on the smartphone’s display was a very good experience. The colour tone of the mobile can be adjusted so that it puts less strain on your eyes. While there were no issues in using the smartphone indoors, its sunlight readability could have been better. The device’s display comes without Widevine L1 certification, which basically means that you cannot stream HD videos from the likes of Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hotstar on it. This was definitely a disappointment. To sum it up, we would say that we simply loved the design and aesthetics of the Vivo V15 smartphone. However, when we speak about the display, some aspects of the experience could definitely be better.

Performance and Cameras

Before we get started with Vivo V15’s performance, let’s talk about the specifications of the handset. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with Funtouch OS 9 and is powered by MediaTek Helio P70 processor. The smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. On the camera front, Vivo V15 has a pop-up selfie camera with a 32MP sensor that has an f/2.0 aperture. On the main cameras front, there is a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP sensor that has an f/1.78 aperture, an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP sensor with an f/2.4 lens. The device houses a 4,000mAh battery and it has a microSD card of up to 256GB. Vivo v15 3 As we mentioned earlier, Vivo V15 runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with FunTouch OS 9. If you are used to stock Android experience, you may find the software to be heavily customised. For starters, there is no app drawer on the device and all the apps are placed on the home screen itself. Speaking of apps, we should mention that the device has plenty of them preinstalled. This includes the likes of Gaana, Facebook, Paytm, UC Browser, PhonePe, and Newspoint. Vivo V15 has a number of other features like Smart Mirroring, Smart Motion and Smart Lock. The device also comes with two power saving modes including the ‘Low Power Saving Mode’ and ‘Extreme Power Saving Mode’. As said before, Vivo V15 smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio P70 processor that easily handled day-to-day tasks without any hiccups. The apps launched quickly and there was no trouble switching between them. We used the smartphone for multi-tasking often, and it did a good job with it. For instance, we watched videos on YouTube while using navigation on Google Maps on our smartphone, and Vivo V15 did not show any lag while we did this. The device did not heat up during our time with it even once, which is always a plus. Vivo v15 4 Gaming experience on the Vivo V15 was decent. If you like to play graphic-hungry games like Asphalt 9: Legends and PUBG Mobile, you may not be too happy with it. However, if you like to play games like Temple Run 2 and Alto’s Odessey, the handset would be able to handle them well. The smartphone has a feature called Game Cube that is supposed to enhance the gaming experience on it, however, we didn’t observe any noticeable difference. If you don’t like to interrupted while gaming, you can enable the Esports Mode that closes background apps and blocks notifications when the user is playing games. The fingerprint scanner of the handset worked well at all times, including when our fingers were moist. We did miss the face-unlock on the smartphone though, and would have liked it much better had Vivo V15, like its elder sibling, had the feature too. vivo v15 image Coming to the cameras of the smartphone, Vivo V15 did a very good job during our time with the handset. The camera app of the device comes with Pro mode, AI beauty, AR stickers, portrait mode, wide-angle mode, scene selection and a mode that can scan documents. The primary camera of the smartphone has a 12MP sensor and it comes with Dual Pixel Focusing technology that is supposed to enhance the clarity and brightness of photos. vivo v15 image 2 Personally, we really liked the images taken with the camera. They had rich colours, were sharp and had good details. While the camera managed to click respectable quality images in well-lit areas, the same cannot be said about dimly-lit conditions. The shots taken at night were slightly grainy and some images had noise. The images taken in the portrait mode turned out to be really good and we should mention that the smartphone has a feature that lets users adjust the blur effect even after the photo is clicked. While the wide-angle camera manages to include a lot more area as compared to the other sensors, the quality of the images does go down a little. The pictures taken by the wide-angle sensor are not bad at all. They are good, in fact. However, they are just not as good as the ones taken from the primary camera sensor. vivo v15 image 3 The 32MP selfie camera of the smartphone is simply brilliant. Regardless of the lighting conditions, Vivo V15’s selfie camera did a great job. The images taken had details, accurate colours and were sharp and clear. The device has an AI Beauty mode and users will get a number of options with it like skin lightening and jawline slimming. vivo v15 benchmarks Coming to the battery of the device, it left us very impressed. Even with very heavy usage that involved watching YouTube videos, playing games like Asphalt 9: Legends, listening to music, using social media apps and using the handset for navigation, the 4,000mAh battery of Vivo V15 lasted an entire day. If your usage is moderate, it will last more than a day. Vivo V15 comes with an 18W charger that was able to charge the device up to 40% in around half an hour. When we ran some benchmark tests on the device, it scored 1,517 and 5,637 in single and multi-core scores of Geekbench, and 1,43,906 in Antutu.

Verdict

The pros of Vivo V15 overshadow its cons. The design is stunning to look at, the battery is very long lasting and the selfie camera manages to take some very good images. The device is also a multi-tasker. However, it cannot stream content from the likes of Amazon Prime, comes without face-unlock and gaming could definitely be better. Although the handset is a good one, if you want to spend lesser than Rs 23,990, you can go for Samsung Galaxy A50 (review) which cost Rs 19,990 and is a worthy competitor of Vivo V15. Pros
  • Beautiful design
  • Lasting battery
  • Great selfie camera
Cons
  • Gaming could be better
  • No streaming available
  • No face unlock

Social media giant Facebook has today said that it is removing or blocking out around one million accounts per day keeping in mind that the first phase of Lok Sabha polls is just days away. The social media giant will be doing with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools. Speaking about it in a blog post, Facebook’s Managing Director and Vice President for India said, “We are absolutely committed to maintaining the integrity of the elections in India and will continue to work with local organisations, government groups and experts to make that happen.” The company claims that it has been working for 18 months to ensure that Indian elections are free from interference, whether foreign or domestic.
Mohan further added, “This work is done across dozens of teams, both in India and around the globe, and began more than 18 months ago with detailed planning and risk assessment across our platforms. Building on lessons we’ve learned over the past two years, this week we will activate new regional operations centres, focused on election integrity, in Singapore and Dublin.” We should mention that these teams include engineers, operation specialists and data scientists and they will be working closely with the company’s Menlo Park, California headquarters and experts based in Delhi. 2019 iPhone models to come with triple camera setups and OLED panels: Report

The rumour mill about the upcoming 2019 iPhones has become quite active of late. And now, a report has surfaced online that talks about the display sizes of the next-generation Apple iPhones. However, it sheds light only on the screen sizes of two iPhone models and not all three of them. According to the report, the two 2019 iPhones models will sport triple rear camera setups and come in 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch display sizes. Both the iPhones will reportedly sport OLED displays, much like iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max that were launched in 2018. The two smartphones will be powered by an ‘A-series’ chipset and will house bigger batteries than their predecessors. The report, which first published in Japanese blog Macotakara, cites sources from supply chain based in China and says that the 2019 iPhones will come with triple camera setups on their back panels and their displays will be 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch in size. The same report has said that the two smartphones will come with OLED panels.
While the 6.1-inch iPhone will reportedly sit between iPhone XS and iPhone XR in size and will be somewhere close to Samsung Galaxy S10. The report also said that the device will approximately be 1.5mm thinner than the iPhone XS. Coming to the 6.5-inch model, it will reportedly be roughly 0.4mm thinner than iPhone XS Max. In addition to this, the report also said that the triple lenses that will be placed on the back panel of the iPhones will be bigger than the one seen on the iPhone XR. The sensor size on the device will also be bigger. The two models of the iPhones that the report talks about are reported to come with a USB-C to Lightning cable and an 18W USB-C power adapter in its box. Besides this, the iPhones are also expected to come with support for reverse wireless charging. This basically means that the iPhones will be able to charge other devices that have support for Qi wireless charging. We should also add that while this report claims two of the three iPhone models will come with a triple rear camera setup, Onleaks has suggested that all three devices, reportedly known as iPhone XIR, iPhone XIS, and iPhone XIS Max, will come with three cameras on the back. However, he also said that features like frosted back panel will be available the iPhone XIS and iPhone XIS Max.

Asus is teaming up with Tencent for its next ROG Phone: Report

0
Last year, the gaming smartphone from Asus, the ROG Phone, was one of the most-talked about devices last year. And now, according to a report, Asus is planning to launch a successor of its ROG gaming smartphone. According to reports, Asus is planning to partner with Tencent Games, the makers of PUBG in China, to promote the upcoming Asus ROG Phone. It should be noted that Asus ROG gaming smartphone was among the first handsets to be launched in India dedicated solely for gaming. There were other gaming smartphones as well such as Xiaomi’s Black Shark and the Razer Phone 2, however these devices never made it to India. The first ROG gaming phone was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with Liquid Cooling to make sure that the handset remained cool even when used for playing extensive games. According to Asus, the ROG Phone could play any mobile game without any lags or any performance issues. And we expect something even better in the next iteration of the ROG Phone. According to a report by Digitimes, the Taiwanese electronic maker will most likely be teaming up with Tencent to promote the device in China. If the said partnership happens between the two companies, then we will get to see a renewed ROG Phone. Moreover, Asus has also started focusing more on the premium and gaming category of smartphones instead of the of mid-range and entry-level devices to cover its losses.
In the next iteration of ROG gaming phone from Asus, we can see a new and top-end line of gaming hardware and software for the device. And teaming up with the Chinese game maker, we can expect that the smartphone will most probably launch first in the Chinese market and then make its way towards the other markets of the world. Other details about the next ROG Phone will be revealed by the company at the Q3 2019. Furthermore, the first ROG Phone which is priced at Rs 69,999 was launched in India last year and it was solely made for gaming. Its hardware and software were tuned for gaming as well. The ROG Phone received good reviews from the fans and critics alike. The ROG Phone came with 90Hz display which was faster than other smartphones in the Indian market, it also came with air triggers which could be used for gaming. The next ROG Phone could be launched by Asus in the third-half of the year. 10 ways to improve the gaming performance of your laptop

If you love playing games on your laptop and want to make the most out of it, we are here to help! Here is a list of 10 things that you can do to boost your laptop’s gaming performance. Take a look:

Install the latest version of DirectX

laptop 1 DirectX is very important for gaming on Windows and Xbox consoles. The latest version of DirectX is DirectX 12 and it was released back in 2015. You should have it installed in your laptop to boost its gaming performance. However, we should mention that it is very rare that people go for a manual installation of the software as it gets installed on its own when a game requires it to. If this doesn’t happen, DirectX gets installed as a part of a Windows Update. You can check the current DirectX version on your laptop by pressing WINDOWS + R to access the Run menu and then enter DXDiag. Once the DirectX Diagnostic Tool is loaded, open the Render tab and you will be able to see your graphics card. The Direct3D DDI here should be numbered according to the latest version of DirectX.

Overclock the GPU of your laptop

laptop 2 If you manage to overclock the GPU of the laptop, you will be able to get additional performance according to the graphics card that has been used. We should mention that are tools like MSI Afterburner available for overclocking the GPUs of AMD as well as Nvidia, so you ideally should not have too much trouble with it. However, problems can arise after overclocking as it then uses more electricity. So make sure that you adjust your computer’s power settings too. Another downside of overclocking is that it makes your laptop heat up too much.

Adjust the Power Settings of your laptop

laptop 3 If you are looking for hard-core gaming on your laptop, the first thing you should do is connect your device to a power outlet so that its battery doesn’t go down while gaming. Then head to the Power Settings of your laptop. If you use a laptop with Windows 10, head to Settings, and then press on System. Here, go to Power and sleep and then click on Additional power settings and choose the option of High Performance. You can also click on the ‘Change plan settings’ and then head to ‘Change advanced power’ and see if you have adjusted any settings there earlier that will result in less-than-optimum power on your device.

If you have a Windows 10 laptop, employ the Game Mode

laptop 4 Windows 10 comes with an Xbox app that has several features like screen recording, streaming, Game Mode setting. In order to activate this, you can press on Windows + G after you launch a game on the laptop and click on Settings. Go to the General Tab and then click the check in the Use Game Mode for this game box. Once it is enabled, the mode will make sure that the OS will run the game on optimum settings. However, this may close down a few background tasks.

Suspend all the apps running in the background

laptop 5 A small manual change that you can make to your laptop to boost the gaming performance is close down all the other apps and games are closed. Also, take a look at the System Tray and ensure that the taskbar list is empty. If you play the game with nothing else running in the background, you will be able to enjoy it a lot more.

Check the speed of your network when playing games online

laptop 6 When you are playing games online, a very key factor that determines the performance is the speed of your internet connection. If the internet speed in of your Wi-Fi is slow, try replacing it with an Ethernet cable. It’s a simple hack that usually works. Besides this, you should also manage your Automatic Updates.

Keep your system updated

laptop 8 Another very simple but key tip to keep the gaming performance of your laptop up to date is to install regular Windows updates. It will keep your laptop’s performance flawless. Also, you can probably avoid beta updates because they can occasionally get bugs in your laptop and may hamper the gaming experience.

Texture and Shader Settings can be tweaked

laptop 9 It will help to look at the settings of your graphics card too. This will give you access to master controls for texture and shader details and these basically determine how your game looks. You also have options to customise how your game looks here.

Keep the drivers of your laptop updated

laptop 10 Nowadays, computers that run Windows, macOS, and Linux operating system are mostly based around the same hardware and architecture. So regardless of the operating system that they have, it is important to keep their drivers updated. While graphics drivers need a more hands-on approach, Intel graphics drivers get up-to-date via Windows 10 update. However, Intel graphics are not very suitable for those who use their laptops for hard-core gaming.

Make sure your laptop is dust-free

laptop 11 One of the most basic things that you can do to ensure that the performance of your laptop doesn’t dwindle is keeping it dust-free. And the same rule applies to the gaming performance of a laptop too. Remember that dust and dirt are sworn enemies of performance as they reduce the airflow in the device and as a result, the computer gets too hot. The more the laptop is heated up, the slower its processor, GPU and other components get. And needless to say, this is exactly what is not required in a gaming laptop that works well. Clean the vents, screen and keyboard of your laptop regularly.

0
Google’s upcoming budget-friendly devices – Google Pixel 3a and the Google Pixel 3a XL – have been in many news reports recently. According to reports, the Google Pixel 3a and the Google Pixel 3a XL will be Google’s next devices instead of the Google Pixel 4 and the Google Pixel 4 XL. And before their launch, the Google Pixel 3a and the Google Pixel 3a XL have accidentally been leaked by Google on its official store. And now, another news comes that the upcoming Pixel devices from Google are being tested in India itself. However, this has not been confirmed by the California-based technology giant. Samsung Galaxy S10’s ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner may not be secure enough; here’s why

As far as biometrics on smartphones go, it is mostly said that fingerprint scanners are more reliable than Face Unlock feature. This is because it can be fooled in a number of ways. A number of smartphones get unlocked when someone places a photograph of the owner in front of them. And various videos were released at the time of iPhone X’s launch which showed that the smartphone could not distinguish between twins. Sadly, a lot of handsets still can’t, making fingerprint sensor a more secure option. However, now it seems like the new generation of in-display scanners are not completely secure either. A new video has surfaced online that shows the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S10 getting unlocked with a fingerprint 3D-printed fingerprint case on a translucent strip. Samsung Galaxy S10 boasts of Qualcomm‘s 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint technology, which as the name suggests, uses the ultrasonic waves from the finger to create a 3D map of the fingerprint patter. It is worth mentioning that the American chipmaker’s solution is said to be more secure than the optical fingerprint sensor that uses a 2D image to unlock the device. Optical fingerprint scanners are used in the likes of Vivo Nex, Vivo V15 Pro, OnePlus 6T and devices from Oppo.
But now, a video has been posted online by an Imgur user named ‘darkshark’, which proves otherwise. The person in the video 3D printed the fingerprint pattern on a transparent strip and then put it on Samsung Galaxy S10’s screen right on its in-display fingerprint scanner. Only by adjusting the 3D-printed strip a little, Samsung Galaxy S10 is seen getting unlocked. A photograph of the user’s fingerprint on a wine glass was taken with a smartphone and then it was used for calculation of depth information using a software. This data was then used to 3D print the slide so that it has a 3-dimensional fingerprint pattern. The user also mentioned that much better images of a fingerprint can be taken using a DSLR, which can then be used to create similar 3D printed slides to fool the in-display fingerprint sensor of Samsung Galaxy S10 handset. Furthermore, it should also be mentioned that using the 3D printed slide, Samsung Galaxy S10 was not unlocked once, but each and every time the user tries to. What makes it even scarier is the fact that a 3D printer is available very easily these days.

Netflix kills support for AirPlay, Apple TV users would not be able to stream too

If you have been watching Netflix shows on iOS devices, we have some news for you, and it’s not exactly a good one. The company has ended support for the easiest way to stream its shows from one Apple device to the other: AirPlay. Some reports in the media claim that Netflix has said that it has taken the step because of a ‘technical limitation’. However, the technical limitation that has come to light is slightly unconventional. Recently, Apple partnered with a number of major TV brands so that AirPlay 2 will be able to directly send shows coupled with a firmware update to their 2019 TV sets sometime later this year. But then, according to reports, AirPlay 2 does not come with digital identifiers that let Netflix tell those TVs apart, and because of this, the video streaming service cannot vouch for its users getting the best possible experience while casting shows to the new sets.
A Netflix spokesperson told The Verge, “We can’t distinguish which device is which, we can’t actually certify the devices… so we’ve had to just shut down support for it. To be more specific, we should point out that this also means that those who have Apple TV set-top boxes, would also not be able to cast Netflix shows too. In an official statement, Netflix said: We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use. With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn’t a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn’t) or certify these experiences. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix AirPlay support to ensure our standard of quality for viewing is being met. Members can continue to access Netflix on the built-in app across Apple TV and other devices. According to a report in MacRumors, Netflix’s support page on its official website now says, “Airplay is no longer supported for use with Netflix due to technical limitations.” As of now, Apple has not commented on the matter. We should mention that tensions between Netflix and Apple are not fresh. The video-streaming service had declined to be a part of the newly launched Apple TV Plus, which makes the two competitors. While most of the smart TVs have Netflix built-in now, it would be difficult for Apple users without one of the most convenient ways to stream shows from the video-streaming service. Google Maps is getting another useful ‘Waze’ feature

Google Maps and Waze are undoubtedly among the most used navigation apps presently. And let’s be honest, lately, Google has been leaving no stone unturned to ensure that its apps and services have an edge over the others. To make Google Maps more useful, the technology giant recently also added the ability to report accidents and speed traps, a feature that was first seen in Waze. However, Google is not stopping at just that as it has now added another Waze feature to its Maps app. Going forward, people will be able to report more number of incidents on the roads on Google Maps. A report in 9to5Google said that incident reporting Google Maps has now been updated and it enables users to include traffic slowdowns. Earlier, users could report crashes, police checkpoints, and speed cameras. However, there was no way for users to manually input an update indicating a traffic jam for others. We should say that the new update makes incident reporting far more useful on Google Maps considering that traffic jam is one among the biggest factors that cause a delay for people. But now, people will be able to share this information with users, so a lot of others will end up saving time.
The report further says that the feature will begin rolling out this week itself. But as of now, there is no word about whether the feature would be Android exclusive or it will be available for those using iOS devices as well. As we mentioned earlier, last month Google added the ability to report accidents and speed traps to its Maps app. With the ability to report accidents and speed traps, users are able to share this information with others by just marking it on Google Maps. This feature on Google Maps is also inspired by Waze. To make it easier for users to report incidents that cause a delay including accidents, speed traps or just traffic jams, Google has added a new dedicated ‘Add a report’ button on its Maps app. This can be done while still getting directions from Google, so users would not even have to exit navigation in order to report a happening. In order to access the function, all you need to do is press the upward arrow from the bottom of the screen of your device. Another way of accessing it will be by pressing on the report button directly from the navigation on the app, which is placed right next to the audio and magnifying glass buttons.

Did Tesla CEO Elon Musk push a former employee?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is in news again. And this time, it is not for the right reason. A report has emerged online that claims that the CEO pushed a former employee who had resigned from the company was trying to say goodbye to his co-workers. The report about this surfaced on Bloomberg that quoted people familiar with the matter. However, the electronic car maker has denied the claim. In a statement given to Roadshow by CNET, a representative from Tesla said, “Elon did exit an employee at our Fremont delivery centre last year due to concerns about his performance, however, there was no physical altercation whatsoever.” According to Bloomberg, “Musk made physical contact with the staffer in a heated confrontation that drew the attention of other employees and spilled into a hallway and later the parking lot, the people said. [..] The employee told people that Musk had pushed him, an account corroborated by others with knowledge of the incident. Another person described it as a tap or light touch.” The report further claimed that the alleged incident prompted Tesla‘s board to launch an enquiry into the behaviour and conduct of its former Chairperson and current CEO. However, no evidence of physical altercation was found. It has also been claimed that Musk swore at the former employee and asked him to leave the company premises immediately. According to the report, “The board concluded there was no ‘physical altercation,’ though it didn’t specifically address the allegation of physical contact or verbal haranguing.” The report also said that the Board of the electric car maker also sent out an email saying, “It is the board’s responsibility to take seriously any potential issues that come to our attention involving senior executives, no matter how small or how large. In this instance, we conducted a thorough review, which proved that there was never a physical altercation, a fact confirmed by multiple people who were present at the time.” On the other hand, the report in CNET said, “Those reports are simply untrue as confirmed by numerous people that observed the incident first-hand.” We should mention that this is not the first time that Musk has been reported to be yelling at his staffers and firing them. In December last year, a report in Wired said that a few Tesla employees were told not to walk past Musk’s desk in case it jeopardised their career.

Fortnite is getting Apex Legends’ best feature: Get details about it here

Epic Games’ Fortnite is the leading battle royale game right now. However, in order to maintain its position, the game makers don’t shy away from getting inspired by features of other games of the same genre. And in its latest move, Epic Games will be rolling out a feature to Fortnite that will be a lot like Respawn Beacons of Apex Legends. Starting next week, Fornite will be getting a feature called ‘Reboot Vans’ which will enable players to bring back their teammates to life in case they die. And as we all know, the feature is directly inspired by ‘Respawn Beacons’ of Apex Legends, which gives players a chance to revive their teammates. It is worth adding that the feature was first leaked in February this year and it solves one among the most frustrating problems that most battle royale games have. Anyone who has played these games would know that probably one among the worst things that can happen is losing a teammate early. With this, you are left with the option of either quitting the game early or play with one person down while your friend just watches you play. If we speak specifically about Fortnite, compared to other games, it is relatively easier to first take away all the health and shields of your enemy so that they are left crawling on the ground, and then kill them. Doing this completely removes them from the match. With the new feature, players will have to reclaim their teammates’ reboot card and then take them to a reboot van in order to make sure that they survive.
However, much like Apex Legends’ feature, ‘Reboot Van’ has its limitations. For starters, Reboot Van can be used only once and that too by one squad. This means that after one of its Reboot Vans gets activated, it remains dormant for the rest of the match. Moreover, the number of vans on the map is limited and even they may get dormant because of the circle that keeps on shrinking. This means that they are extremely difficult to access and using them can also mean that you may die yourself while reaching out to them. It is worth adding that this is the second time that Fortnite has copied a feature from Apex Legends. The first one was a ping system that enables teammates to communicate with each other non-verbally. So, they can just press a button to highlight enemies, loot and locations.
