Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 unveiled with a more powerful CPU and a better camera
Google Glass was one of the most futuristic and unique looking devices of its time and it may not have worked the way the company expected it to, but it surely did leave its mark. The first iteration of Google Glass, in a way had paved a way for smart devices. And now, the California based technology giant is coming up with a new version of its eye-wearable smart device – the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2. The next iteration of Google Glass comes with an improved camera, USB Type-C port along with safety frames as well.
The next Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is basically like a lightweight computer in front of the user’s eyes. Similar to the previous edition of Google Glass, the successor too comes with a transparent display which brings information in front of the user’s eyes. The successor of Google Glass comes with advanced Machine Learning (ML) capabilities which enables the significant power-saving and support for computer vision.
The upcoming Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is powered by a multi-core Qualcomm’s XR1 CPU platform.
In a blog post, jay Kothari, the Project Lead of Glass at Google wrote, “Glass Enterprise Edition 2 helps businesses further improve the efficiency of their employees. Enterprise businesses interested in using Glass Enterprise Edition 2 can contact our sales team or our network of Glass Enterprise solution partners starting today. We’re excited to see how our partners and customers will continue to use Glass to shape the future of work.”
According to the company, the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is easier to develop and deploy. It will also come with support for Android Enterprise Mobile Device Management to the wearable smart device. Currently, the company hasn’t said anything about the price of the device. But if we look back to 2017, the first Google Glass Enterprise Edition was selling for $1,829 (approximately Rs 1.3 lakhs) by Streye. So, the price of the successor, the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 should be more than its predecessor.
It should be noted that the first Google Glass has been known to help scientists and other professionals in their works by making it easier. But earlier, the technology wasn’t advanced as it is today and people weren’t ready to accept such technology as part of their lives yet. But today, that is another matter.
