COVID-19: Samsung Exclusive Stores across India are now ‘Suraksha’ Certified to ensure public safety
In order to ensure consumer safety at a time when social distancing is the new normal, Samsung has launched a massive initiative to ensure that all its Samsung Exclusive Stores have been ‘Suraksha’ certified. The smartphone company believes that the Suraksha certification will ensure that consumers feel safe and confident when they visit the stores to purchase their favourite Galaxy smartphones.
Citing that consumers are at the core of everything that Samsung does, Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business at Samsung India, said, “Our initiative will ensure that consumers and employees working at these Exclusive Stores feel confident about their wellbeing and safety. Samsung remains committed to stand with the people in its fight against this pandemic and limit its spread by the implementation of Suraksha measures across all Exclusive Stores.”
Samsung has stated that it has taken special care to sanitize all its Samsung Exclusive Stores before opening them to consumers. Moreover, hand sanitizers have been made available at the stores, making it mandatory for Samsung Experience consultants to use them at all touch points, especially at the entry and exit doors of the stores.
Abiding by the Indian government’s social distancing guidelines, the South Korea-based smartphone major claims that Samsung Exclusive Stores is encouraging consumers to maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meter between themselves. Additionally, training to follow hygiene and safety advisories have been imparted to Samsung Experience consultants, the company added.
With an aim to ensure the highest standard of hygiene is maintained across Samsung Exclusive Stores, customers will be encouraged to use digital contactless payments and swiping machines will be sanitized before being given to the customer. Besides this, Samsung notified that only a limited number of customers will be allowed within the store at any given point of time to avoid crowd formation.
Recently, Samsung has also joined hands with Benow to enable millions of consumers to buy Galaxy smartphones from their neighbourhood stores online. With this new platform, Samsung consumers will be able to browse, select, order, pay and receive their Galaxy smartphone from the comfort of their homes. The new digital platform will also help thousands of offline retailers become part of the online ecosystem and reach out to a larger base of consumers.
Samsung has revealed that more than 20,000 offline retailers have already signed up for the digital platform that enables consumers to buy Galaxy smartphones online from their neighbourhood stores.

Google Map users can now share location easily with Plus Codes: Know how
Have you ever wondered how will you direct someone to your current location without knowing the address of that place? Worry not, Google is there for your rescue. Claiming that nearly 2 billion people on the planet—about 25 percent of us or more —either don’t have an address or have an address that isn’t easy to locate, Google has now made it easier for anyone with an Android device to share their location using Plus Codes in Google Maps.
According to the tech giant, “People who use Google Maps might be familiar with the blue dot that represents their current location. Simply tap the blue dot to get a Plus Code for your current location that can be shared with others as easily as giving them a phone number.”
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Plus Codes are free, digital address for anywhere. It is a simple alphanumeric code which can be combined with a locality (for example: FWM8+V9, Ibadan, Nigeria). “They look like a regular address, but with a short code where a street name or number would be. Beyond using the blue dot, you can also find the Plus Code for a location by tapping and holding the map to drop a pin at a location you want a Plus Code for,” as revealed by Google. Moreover, Plus Codes are searchable on Google Maps and even Google Search.
Mind you! These digital location identifiers are free to use, available offline and can be printed on paper, posters and signs. It must be noted that the technology to generate Plus Codes is also open source. Therefore, anyone can see how the technology works and create their own applications for any use.
In time of emergency or crisis situations, Plus Codes can be especially helpful for people and organizations as help can reach you easily during such critical time. With Plus Codes, not only can people share their location quickly even without an address, but they can now do so by simply opening up Google Maps and tapping on the blue dot to view, copy and share their Plus Code location. A Plus Code can then be entered into Google Maps to help locate and navigate to that location.
Digital locations through Plus Codes means that everywhere now has an easily identifiable location, saving time and getting resources there when it really matters. Google emphasised that not having an address should no longer be a barrier to easily sharing your location with service providers, guiding them to you when you most need them.

NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission successfully lifts off: Here’s everything you must know
A new era of human spaceflights begins as for the first time in history, NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission successfully lifted off carrying astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley at 3:22 p.m. EDT Saturday from American soil in the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on the Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to dock to the space station at 10:29 a.m. EDT on May 31 (which translates to 7:59 p.m. IST).
Congratulating Robert Behnken, Douglas Hurley as well as the SpaceX and NASA teams for this significant achievement for the United States, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said, “The launch of this commercial space system designed for humans is a phenomenal demonstration of American excellence and is an important step on our path to expand human exploration to the Moon and Mars.”
The NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission is an end-to-end test flight to validate the SpaceX crew transportation system, including launch, in-orbit, docking and landing operations. This is SpaceX’s second spaceflight test of its Crew Dragon and its first test with astronauts aboard, which will pave the way for its certification for regular crew flights to the station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.
Asserting that this is a dream come true for me and everyone at SpaceX, Elon Musk, chief engineer at SpaceX, said, “It is the culmination of an incredible amount of work by the SpaceX team, by NASA and by a number of other partners in the process of making this happen. You can look at this as the results of a hundred thousand people roughly when you add up all the suppliers and everyone working incredibly hard to make this day happen.”
SpaceX controlled the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy’s Launch Control Center Firing Room 4, the former space shuttle control room, which SpaceX has leased as its primary launch control center. As Crew Dragon ascended into space, SpaceX commanded the spacecraft from its mission control center in Hawthorne, California. NASA teams are monitoring space station operations throughout the flight from Mission Control Center at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Moreover, the NASA Television and the agency’s website are providing ongoing live coverage of the Crew Dragon’s trip to the orbiting laboratory. According to the space agency, “Behnken and Hurley will work with SpaceX mission control to verify the spacecraft is performing as intended by testing the environmental control system, the displays and control system, and by maneuvering the thrusters, among other things.”
NASA further added after successfully docking, the crew will be welcomed aboard the International Space Station, where they will become members of the Expedition 63 crew, which currently includes NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy. NASA will continue live coverage through hatch opening and the crew welcoming ceremony. The crew will perform tests on Crew Dragon in addition to conducting research and other tasks with the space station crew.
Three astronauts aboard the International Space Station will participate in a live NASA Television crew news conference from orbit on Monday, June 1, beginning at 11:15 a.m. on NASA TV and the agency’s website.
Behnken is the joint operations commander for the mission, responsible for activities such as rendezvous, docking and undocking, as well as Demo-2 activities while the spacecraft is docked to the space station. He was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2000 and has completed two space shuttle flights. Behnken flew STS-123 in March 2008 and STS-130 in February 2010, performing three spacewalks during each mission. On the other hand, Hurley is the spacecraft commander for Demo-2, responsible for activities such as launch, landing and recovery. He was selected as an astronaut in 2000 and has completed two spaceflights. Hurley served as pilot and lead robotics operator for both STS‐127 in July 2009 and STS‐135, the final space shuttle mission, in July 2011.
At the conclusion of the mission, Behnken and Hurley will board Crew Dragon, which will then autonomously undock, depart the space station, and re-enter Earth’s atmosphere. Upon splashdown off Florida’s Atlantic coast, the crew will be picked up by the SpaceX recovery ship and returned to the dock at Cape Canaveral.

In the midst of a fight between YouTubers and TikTok users, an IITian Shivank Agrawal took this war as an opportunity and released the Mitron app in India. The social media app is said to be an Indian version of TikTok and has also crossed 5 million downloads along with 4.5 ratings. But according to a new report Miton app has not been developed by an Indian but it has been bought from a Pakistani software developer Qboxu.
As the popularity of the Mitron app is skyrocketing a report by News18 claims that it came across the app’s entire source code which includes its full set of features as well as its user interface. The publishers stated that the app has been purchased from a Pakistani software developer company, Qboxus. Irfan Sheikh the founder and chief executive of Oboxus revealed that he has sold the source code of their app to Mitron’s promoter for $34 that translates to Rs 2,600.
Speaking to News18, Sheikh said, “We expect our customers to use our code and build something on their own. But Mitron’s developer has taken our exact product, changed the logo and uploaded it on their store.”
Now you must be wondering if the claims are being made just because of the growing popularity of the Mitron app but he further told that he has no problem what the developer has done. According to him he paid for the script and used it, which is okay. But, the problem is with people referring to it as an Indian-made app, which is not true especially because they have not made any changes. He was further inquired about the data hosting process, Sheikh said that his company doesn’t offer the option to host user data on their server but so the Motron app chose to host their data on their own server.
Moreover, the promoter of the Mitron app ShopKiller e-Commerce in response to News18 revealed that “We want to work in stealth mode, and didn’t want people to know us by our name. I found (the article) a little disappointing. I would have liked you to appreciate the fact that we are working hard on the app, and the reason for developing the app was just to give a ‘Make In India’ alternative to people.” However so far there is no accurate information about what is being done to the user’s data and so the e-commerce did not provide any adequate information about the Mitron app’s privacy policy, or any info regarding such fewer details about the app.

The Chinese smartphone maker has introduced the Infinix Hot 9 series in India in a single variant. Hot 9 will be offered with a 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage with a price tag of Rs 8,499. Whereas, Infinix Hot 9 Pro can be purchased at Rs 9,499 for the 4GB of RAM with a 64GB storage model. The Hot 9 Pro will go on their first sale starting June 5 at 12 noon onwards via e-commerce website Flipkart whereas Hot 9 will is scheduled to go on sale on June 8 at 12 noon. According to the company with badges, creators can generate income from the content they’re already creating. Badges will show up next to a person’s name throughout the live video. The fans who have purchased badges in Live will be highlighted in the comments and unlock additional features, including placement on a creator’s list of badge holders and access to a special heart.
The company will begin testing Badges next month with a small group of creators and businesses. Over the coming months, it will expand across the US, Brazil, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, and Mexico. A new research has revealed that cybercriminals are likely to steal over $2 billion in 2020. With the continuation of record-high scam reports, Vint Cerf, VP and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google, said, “We’re providing support to the Cybercrime Support Network to help people identify scams before they fall victim to them through a new program called Scam Spotter, which simplifies expert advice with three golden rules.”

Mitron app: This Indian version of TikTok crosses 5 million downloads
With several social media users vying for a ban on TikTok after a much-dramatic war between TikTokers and YouTubers on Internet, an IITian Shivank Agarwal used the opportunity to announce Mitron app that is being dubbed as an Indian version of TikTok. The app has crossed 5 million downloads so far with a more than 4.5 rating.
Mitron app, which is a free short video and social platform, has been designed for people to showcase their innovative videos showcasing light humour. “Mitron provides an easy and seamless interface for users to create, edit and share their videos, and at the same time browse through a library of top videos across the globe,” as per the app details on Google Play Store.
The details further revealed that the Mitron app makers claimed that there aim is to create a platform where people can come and entertain themselves with small videos posted by the users across the globe, and at the same time, they could share and create their own videos as well.

OnePlus will return to its roots will be offering budget smartphones in India soon, CEO Pete Lau revealed
The Chinese premium smartphone company OnePlus is popular for offering its flagship devices at an accessible price point. But this time the company has disappointed many of its fans by launching its latest OnePlus 8 series in the higher price segment. But now the company has decided to turn things around by again entering into the affordable market segment by launching a new budget device in the market.
According to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, the company is planning to launch a new affordable smartphone with new strategies in the India market first followed by Europe and North America later this year. The company strategy is to take on its rival Xiaomi which has continued to retain its number one position for selling low budget devices in the country.
CEO Pete Lau in an interview with Fast Company revealed that, “We can look at it as having a more affordable product offering, but all products that still remain up to the OnePlus standard . . . and through this enabling more people to have access to OnePlus products.”
In the later part of this year, the company revealed its new strategy but not any of its products to arrive soon with an announcement for India. The company is planning to bring lower-priced devices to other markets, including North America and Europe.
To recall, OnePlus launched its first device in the market six years ago in 2014 with a price tag Rs 21,999 when other companies such as Samsung and Apple were selling their handsets twice the price of what OnePlus offered. The flagship killer was cheaper with premium looking design such as large screen and sleek design. Moreover, it offered a fast processor and nice camera capabilities with a longer battery life that gave a tough competition to the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Both the mobile phone made its debut in the same year with a price tag of 53,500 and Rs 51,500 respectively.
Since then the price of the OnePlus smartphone has improved as the company kept enhancing the pricing of its handsets which we have already seen last month with the launch of OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Now the company has decided to come back to its roots and not follow the industry trend of increasing the price of smartphones.
“What we’re seeing is that with current products, there’s still a demand from a large consumer base for a more suitable price that enables more consumers to be able to access OnePlus products,” Lau says. “That’s a really important insight, and it’s something that we’re taking into very serious consideration.”
During the interview, Lau did not indicate that the company will stop making high-end flagship devices but it will not be confined to just the premium segment and has strategies to get better in the budget segment also.
He further added “We indeed have come from background and roots as a hardware company, but from what we see looking forward, building an ecosystem is a forward trend,”

NASA reschedules SpaceX Demo-2 liftoff due to unfavourable weather conditions
Citing unfavourable weather conditions around Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NASA and SpaceX have scrubbed today’s historical launch attempt of the Demo-2 test flight to the International Space Station (ISS) with astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley. The US space agency’s next launch attempt has now been scheduled for 3:22 p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 30 from the same location (which translates to 12:52 a.m. IST on Sunday, May 31).
If the weather condition remain unfavourable on Saturday too, NASA and SpaceX will be left with one more chance on Sunday at 3 p.m. EDT (which will be 12:30 a.m. IST on Sunday
According to an official blog post, “SpaceX will begin removing propellant from the Falcon 9 rocket and then the astronauts will exit the Crew Dragon spacecraft. Launch coverage will continue until the crew has left the pad for Astronaut Crew Quarters.”
During the live web streaming, the SpaceX team announced, “We did have to scrub because of weather. To be more specific we were still in violation of one of the weather criterias: the strength of electric fields in the atmosphere. We needed a little bit more time if we were going to clear that launch weather constraint.”
The Demo-2 launch will be SpaceX’s final test flight for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program and will provide critical data on the performance of the Falcon 9 rocket, Crew Dragon spacecraft, and ground systems, as well as in-orbit, docking, and landing operations, the US space agency revealed in a blog post.
Upon arriving at the space station, Behnken and Hurley will join the Expedition 63 crew to conduct important research as well as support station operations and maintenance. While docked to the station, the crew will run tests to ensure the Crew Dragon spacecraft is capable on future missions of remaining connected to the station for up to 210 days.
However, the specific duration for NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission will be determined after arrival based on the readiness of the next commercial crew launch. “Finally, the mission will conclude with the Crew Dragon undocking from the station, deorbiting and returning Behnken and Hurley to Earth with a safe splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean,” revealed an official blog post by NASA.

Earlier, the tech giant had started enabling merchants in six countries to add support links for donations and gift cards to their business profiles on Google. However, Google has now introduced the support links to merchants in an additional 18 countries such as Italy, Spain and Japan. For this, the American multinational technology company has collaborated with PayPal and GoFundMe for donations. As far as gift cards are concerned, merchants can link directly to the relevant page on their website or to their gift card offerings with one of Google’s eligible partners like Square, Toast, Clover and Vagaro.
Moreover, those merchants who usually provided in-person services are now finding ways to connect with their customers virtually—from yoga studios offering online classes to salons hosting virtual hair styling classes. The South Korean smartphone company Samsung has introduced a new variant for its Samsung Galaxy A51 smartphone. The company has launched a new 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage model of the device. Currently, the device is available in a single storage variant of 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. To recall the mobile was launched in India earlier this year. According to a report the device is said to be the world’s highest-selling Android smartphone during the first quarter of 2020. The company also successfully shipped 6 million units of the A51 across the globe.
Samsung Galaxy A51 new 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage option has been launched with a price tag of Rs 27,999. The phone will be available in three colour options Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue, and Prism Crush White colour options. The handset will be available for purchase across the country starting today via Samsung India e-Store, all leading e-commerce platforms as well as offline stores.
To recall Samsung Galaxy A51 smartphone was launched in the late January this year in single storage variants at Rs 25,250 for 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage option. It comes with a 6.5-inch, Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 pixels of resolution. The device runs on One UI 2.0 on top of Android 10. It is powered by octa-core Exynos 9611 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card.
For photos and videos, Galaxy A51 features a quad rear camera system that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor. The camera system further includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, one 5-megapixel macro camera and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
In addition to this, the handset includes a 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging that lasts up to 19 hours of video playback time. For connectivity there includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging.
