Redmi 9 Power today landed in India as Xiaomi’s latest budget smartphone. The device is the latest addition to the Redmi 9 series available in India. The newly launched Redmi smartphone comes with a massive 6,000mAh battery. In addition to this, the phone also includes a quad rear camera setup and an FHD+ display. It is scheduled to go on sale on December 22 at 12 noon via Mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Homes and Mi Studios. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC coupled with Adreno 610 GPU. The device will be available with up to 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage that can be expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card. For the photos and videos, Redmi 9 Power comes with a quad-camera set up on the back of the phone that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor. While on the front there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera which also supports AI Face Unlock. This Redmi smartphone comes with a splash-resistant coating coupled with rubberised ports enabling protection against accidental spills. Infinix a Transsion group holdings brand announced the launch of its new pocket-friendly smartphone under Rs 6,000. The Device namely Infinix Smart HD 2021 runs on Android Go Edition. Instagram Lite now being tested in India again, Born on Instagram’ creator program also announced

The photo-sharing app owned by Facebook,  Instagram today at its ‘Facebook Fuel For India’ virtual event announced that a new version of Instagram Lite is now being tested in India. In addition to this, the second edition of the ‘Born on Instagram’ creator program is also being tested. As the name suggests Instagram Lite is just 2MB in size on Google Play. The new version of this app was first launched in India in June 2018 but was shut down in May this year only.  Vishal Shah, VP of Product, Instagram at Facebook, said, “India is such an important country for us and has been a testing ground for innovation, thanks to the natural creativity and entrepreneurial spirit we see here. With the test of Instagram Lite, and the next edition of Born on Instagram, we’re aiming to democratize expression and creativity for a greater number of people in India. We’re also hoping to gain valuable insights before a global rollout of Instagram Lite.” Today Instagram announced extending the test of Instagram Lite to people in India. The app is less than 2MB in size and is said to deliver an Instagram experience that remains fast and reliable for more people. According to a research conducted earlier this year, the company has observed that the one barrier which did not let the user enjoy the core Instagram experience was the compromised internet experience, as a result of low memory phones and heavy-sized apps. This is the reason why the company decided to bring back Instagram Lite and India is a primarily test country for it. The app is made for Android and this new version has improved speed, performance, and responsiveness. The experience is similar to the core Instagram app experience, though there are some features that are not currently supported such as Reels, Shopping and IGTV. The app will be available in Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Amazon to roll out an updated interface for Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite

Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite will soon get a redesigned user interface update. This brings features such as a simplified Main Menu, Find destination, user Profiles, and voice-first experience with Alexa. To recall both the popular range of streaming devices were launched in September this year and runs on  Amazon’s Fire TV OS. According to the company, the new Fire TV experience will be rolling out to both devices over the coming weeks.  With the rollout of the new UI update, it brings redesigned and new navigation settings to Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite. The Main Menu will now be shown at the center of the screen to allow users to easily navigate through Home, Find, Live, Library, Profiles and more. One can also search for popular content and watch trailers by clicking up while clicking down to browse expanded rows of shows and movies. This will let you access apps, channels and games with the ability to pin and rearrange the order of your apps so you can easily access your favorites. In addition to this you can now scroll over the app icon to quickly peek at what’s inside and begin playback, or simply jump into the app itself.  How to customise the order of your apps, channels, and games in the Main Menu

Qualcomm announced the launch of Snapdragon 678 Mobile Platform

The American Chipset maker Qualcomm has announced the launch of its latest Snapdragon chipset which is an upgrade over Snapdragon 675 that was launched two years back in the year 2018. The Snapdragon 678 SoC comes with performance upgrades with enhanced connectivity for videos and photos. The Chip offers 4G connectivity with  Snapdragon X12 LTE Modem to deliver a download speed of up to 600Mbps and an upload speed of up to 150Mbps. While announcing the launch of  Snapdragon 678 SoC Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. vice president, product management, Kedar Kondap said, “We are uniquely positioned to support OEMs in delivering the next generation of devices with in-demand features and performance. Snapdragon 678 brings advanced mobile capabilities for daily entertainment at lightning-fast speeds over reliable connections and long-lasting battery life for consumers worldwide.” The Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 SoC includes Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU with a clock speed up to 2.2GHz and Qualcomm Adreno 612 GPU for performance increase. In addition to this, the chip also supports dynamic photography and videography abilities, and immersive entertainment experiences with long battery life over fast, reliable connectivity. Moreover, it will include an FHD+ 4K display with a resolution of 1,080×2,520 pixels and up to10-bit of color depth. For this, it comes integrated with Qualcomm Spectra 250L ISP which helps in delivering vibrant camera features, therefore, resulting in true-to-life color through triple camera photos with up to 48 megapixels (MP) and zero shutter lag. Besides AI features such as Portrait Mode, Low-Light Capture, and Laser Autofocus 678 also comes with the capability to record HD 4K video and other features like slo-mo recording, 5x optical zoom, and portrait mode, with dual-camera support up to 16 MP. For immersive entertainment, it equips Kryo 460 CPU and Adreno 612 GPU for faster graphics rendering allowing sharp visuals at high frame rates with fewer frame drops. The Snapdragon 678 is optimised for a better gaming experience and it can handle titles such as Unity, Messiah, NeoX, and Unreal Engine 4, among other top games, and provides quick access to popular apps and content. Whereas the Snapdragon X12 LTE Modem allows super-fast upload and download speeds and rapid response times. It can support up to 600 Mbps of download speed and uploads up to 150 Mbps along with support for all major cellular modes plus Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) for increased capacity. In addition to this, there is also support for Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, QZSS, SBAS, USB 3.1, USB-C,  Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, dual-SIM Dual VoLTE and dual-band Wi-Fi. Google Meet introduces Live captions in four new languages

In order to help participants who may be deaf or hard of hearing follow along and stay engaged, Google Meet has now expanded live caption support to four additional languages apart was English. These languages are French, German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish (Spain and Latin America). “We know from our work with teachers and parents over the years how essential caption tools can be for students with learning disabilities, as well as English-language learners in both K-12 and higher education. Professional development experts often encourage the integration of this technology to make lessons more accessible, especially in the time of COVID-19. We’ve heard from Meet users about how helpful it can be to not only see who is speaking and view their expressions, but also read the text of what they are saying. By expanding live captions to more languages, we can help more students feel empowered to participate, and help more teachers share a space that is both accessible and inclusive. In addition, we’ve made captions settings “sticky,” so they’re even easier to use. This means that if you turn them on or off during a meeting, your preference will be saved, along with the chosen language, for future meetings,” said Phillip Nelson, Product Manager, Google Workspace. Earlier this year, Google Meet introduced breakout rooms in Meet to help educators create dedicated spaces for more focused discussions and track student engagement with attendance reports. The tech giant continued to improve these experiences and have also made them available to more Google Workspace editions so that organizations can use group discussion formats. The latest updates to these large meeting features that help organizations increase participation and engagement during a call includes Breakout Rooms, Attendance Reports and Hand raising. Breakout Rooms is a new countdown timer helps moderators keep everyone on task. Moderator requests call on the moderator to join a breakout room if participants need help or have a question, and dial-in participants and anonymous users can now participate in breakout rooms. Besides this, Attendance Reports feature is Viewership data that is now available for live streamed events like virtual all-hands meetings, and new advanced settings provide admins and hosts with additional controls over attendance reports. Additionally, Hand raising feature enables participants to know if they have a question or indicate that they would like to speak by raising their hand. In large meetings, this helps to increase participation while not disrupting the flow of the conversation and helps to prevent people from interrupting one another. It was also revealed that Google Meet will continue to offer unlimited calls (up to 24 hours) in the free version through March 31, 2021 for Gmail accounts this holiday season. Amazfit GTS 2e and Amazfit GTR 2e smartwatches with 90 sports modes officially launched

Two new smartwatches by Amazfit have now landed in the market. The Huami backed company has introduced Amazfit GTS 2e and Amazfit GTR 2e smartwatches in China. Both the smart wearables look quite similar as of its predecessors that is Amazfit GTS 2 and the GTR 2. The all-new Amazfit smartwatches include features such as 90 sports modes, biological data sensor and blood oxygen sensor. Both the watches are water-resistant to up to 50 metres. Amazfit GTS 2e features Amazfit GTS 2e comes with a rectangular dial having a 1.65-inch Super Retina display with 2.5D curved glass on top of it. The smartwatch includes 90 sports modes that include tracking for running, jogging, cycling, swimming, treadmill, and more. In addition to this, the watch also offers health-related sensors such as the biological data sensor and blood oxygen sensor. Other sensors to include are like acceleration sensor, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, temperature sensor, and a linear motor. Amazfit GTS 2e features Apart from this, the GTS 2e offers water resistance to up to 50 metres. There is NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 but now no Wi-Fi connectivity available on this fitness watch. The smartwatch houses a 246mAh battery which is claimed to last for up to 14 days in daily use mode whereas in the basic mode it will deliver a battery life of 24 days. Amazfit GTR 2e features Amazfit GTR 2e is the follow up to Amazfit GTR 2. It boasts a 1.39-inch AMOLED panel with 454×454 pixels of resolution and 326ppi pixel density. The smartwatch has two physical buttons for navigation and an aluminium body. The smartwatch also has sports modes that include activities such as running, jogging, cycling, treadmill, swimming and more. The watch is water-resistant to up to 50 metres. For connectivity, there is NFC and Bluetooth 5.0. Amazfit GTR 2e features It includes Biotracker PPG biological data sensor that supports blood oxygen monitoring in addition to the acceleration sensor, gyroscope, 3-axis geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, air pressure sensor, and temperature sensor. Besides this, the watch also offers other features such as blood oxygen monitor and sleep monitor. The Amazfit GTR 2e has a 471mAh battery that will last for up to 24 days in the daily use mode and in basic watch mode to up to 45 days. Pricing and Availability The price of the Amazfit GTS 2e and the Amazfit GTR 2e starts at CNY 799 that translates to Rs 9,000. The earlier one will be available in three colour options of Dark Green, Obsidian Black, and Roland Purple. While the latter one will come in Dolphin Grey, Ice Lake Green, and Obsidian Black colour options. Both the devices are now available for purchase via the company’s official website. OPPO showcases conceptual design of its triple-folding ‘slide-phone’

In order to provide a comfortable relationship between people and their products through a human-centric approach to design, OPPO has showcased the “slide-phone” and “music-link” conceptual designs at the China International Industrial Design Expo. Oppo has been working on together with the leading Japanese industrial designing studio nendo on these concepts. According to Oppo, “The idea for the “slide-phone” originated from OPPO and nendo’s discovery that smartphone users increasingly rely on their smartphones to interact with the world around them. To support more functionality, smartphone is designed in a constant increasing of size, making it difficult to hold and less convenient. This trend towards larger phones has become a growing concern for users.” Oppo’s “slide-phone” concept is designed with three foldable screens attached by hinges folding over in the same direction. By providing users with the flexibility to change the form of the phone as needed, users may benefit from the ability to change its size to suit the occasion. Additionally, a stylus inserted in phone allows users to expand their productivity by using the phone for work or other more complex tasks. Besides, the concept of slide-phone, OPPO and nendo’s other conceptual design is “music-link”. It is a collection of devices centered around a pair of TWS earphones that includes a smartwatch, an AI speaker, a portable charger and a wireless charger. When the TWS earphones and portable charging case are placed on the AI speaker, users can enjoy a seamless music experience transitioning from headphones to speaker. Commenting on the partnership, nendo CEO and chief designer, Oki Sato, said:“I was impressed by OPPO’s philosophy, which goes beyond leveraging the latest technology and pursues a comfortable relationship between people and their products through a human-centric approach to design. Apple Watch now helps users monitor cardio fitness

In order to empower users to be more active for dramatic long-term health benefits, Apple Watch users can view their cardio fitness level in the Health app on iPhone with iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2. It further enables users to receive a notification on Apple Watch if it falls within the low range. This technology launched in watchOS 7 enables Apple Watch to easily measure low cardio fitness. According to the tech giant, Apple Watch with watchOS 7 uses multiple sensors, including the optical heart sensor, GPS, and the accelerometer to estimate lower levels. This is significant because direct measurement of VO2 max typically requires a rigorous clinical test with specialised equipment that is not readily accessible to most people. Furthermore, the watchOS 7 enables Apple Watch to take cardio fitness measurements as users walk throughout the day, whether or not they are tracking a workout. It also enables Apple Watch is better able to measure VO2 max for users with low cardio fitness. “Cardio fitness is increasingly recognised as a powerful predictor of overall health, and with today’s update to watchOS 7, we are making it even more accessible to more people. Using its advanced sensors, Apple Watch now brings estimation of low cardio fitness levels from clinics directly to a user’s wrist, so people have more insight into how they can improve their long-term health through daily activity,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. Additionally, the iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2 enable Apple Watch users to visit the Cardio Fitness category in the Health app on iPhone to review whether their cardio fitness level is classified as high, above average, below average, or low, relative to people in their same age group and of the same sex, according to data from the Fitness Registry and Importance of Exercise National Database (FRIEND). Apple users they can also see how their cardio fitness level has changed over the past week, month, or year. HMD Global today in India announced the launch of its latest smartphone to its 5 series in Europe. The company has introduced Nokia 5.4 that comes with a Nordic design and features a quad rear camera set up. Today in India, Dell announced the launch of its XPS 13 (9310) laptop in India. The Dell laptop comes with a refreshed design and is powered by the latest 11th Gen Intel Core processors. As the name suggests the device features a 13-inch display and has carbon fiber deck lids and hardened Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. It also includes Microsoft Cortana and Waves enabled speech technology and select security features of Dell’s Latitude portfolio. Operation Chrono When the players enter the game they will be greeted with Operation Chrono. According to the company, the main interface of the game has been taken over by various elements of Operation Chrono where the players can participate in daily tasks for Chrono Mission to obtain various unlockables. Whereas on the spawn island a portal will let the players travel between the new futuristic slum universe and the classic Free Fire universe. As per Garena players can look forward to posing as Chrono starting December 19. Chrono will be equipped with skills that will allow it to create and force field that blocks damage from enemies while being able to still attack opponents from within the force field. Chrono and his allies within the force field will also see their movement speed increase when the skill is activated. In addition to this, there will be an entire collection of fashion items, inspired by Operation Chrono such as S Class costumes, AUG gun and Katana. Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones review: Long battery meets good performance

Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones were recently launched in India at a price of Rs 1,299 and they come with features like a 120mAh battery, IPX4 rating and is obviously touted to be for bass lovers. We spent a few days with the device, and here’s our review of it:

As always, we’ll first talk about the design of the gadget. The Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones are really as basic as they can be in terms of look and feel. Available in two colour options – Black and Blue Black – the earphones are completely made of plastic and come with a flexible neckband which turns thicker towards its ends. The ends of the neckband house the battery of the earphones, the Bluetooth hardware, the Power and Volume Rocker buttons, the Micro-USB port, an indicator light and the microphone. The Redmi branding sits on the left one, but it is very easy to miss it because it’s so light. You can turn on the earphones with a long press of the Power button. With a single smaller press on it, you can play or pause the music or answer or disconnect phone calls. In addition to this, you can press it twice to summon the digital assistant on your smartphone. Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones 2 The earpieces of the Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones are connected to the ends of the neckband via cables and they stay attached to each other via magnets. We liked this because the magnets keep the cables from tangling up with each other. Speaking further about Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones, it comes with support for Bluetooth 5.0, and can be paired with up to two devices at once. When we tried to do this, we had no problem pairing or switching between the two devices. So that’s another plus. As said the Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones come with IPX4 rating, which basically makes them splash proof. It also means that you can use the headset while working out without having to worry about them being ruined with sweat. You can even take them for a run during the rain, but just do not throw them in a pool of water thinking they are waterproof. In the box, you even get multiple silicone ear tips of different sizes to choose from. However, the charging cable is missing. Considering not everyone has a Micro-USB cable available these days, this might spell trouble for some. Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones 3 To conclude, we would say that the design of the Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones is basic, but if you are looking for a pair of earphones that are comfortable to wear, then Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones won’t disappoint you. Even when we wore them for hours at a stretch, we didn’t feel any discomfort or pain. We aren’t too fond of the plastic built, but at this price point, we can’t complain.

When the name of a headset has the word ‘Bass’ in it, you already know what the company is promising with the product. So we weren’t surprised to find out that the headphones performed very well with music that was heavy on bass. But even with music of other genres, that are not as heavy on bass, the earphones don’t disappoint. So if you are a bass lover, the Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones will definitely be a treat for ears. It may not be that delightful for you if you enjoy something else, but we can confidently say that you’ll still be happy with it. If we talk about the quality of the sound, it was really good and remained consistent no matter what kind of music we heard from which platform. We heard music from Spotify, YouTube, Netflix, and other platforms, but the quality of sound did remain good throughout. Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones 4 One small thing we found to be challenging was that when we played very high range music, it wasn’t as clear as the mid and low ranges on the earphones. The earphones automatically give preferential treatment to bass in music, but we would not complain because they are also marketed like that. As said, the name of the device literally suggests that. We did try to use the earphones for the purpose of making and answering calls too and it performed decently. We could hear the caller and be heard by them at all times and the clarity of sound was maintained. The noise cancellation of the earphones could be better. Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones come with 120mAh battery, and this is probably the biggest selling points of the device. It takes almost two hours to be completely charged and it will easily give you around 11-12 hours of usage.

Verdict

The performance of the Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones clearly outdoes the design. The bass-heavy music was great to listen to and the audio quality was good and consistent. The earphones’ battery was very long lasting too. The plastic built is not our favourite thing, but can’t complain at this price point, particularly because the comfort was unaffected. So, at Rs 1,299, Redmi SonicBass wireless earphones are clearly a very good buy.

It is also launching two new learning paths and hosting themed virtual workshops to help learners of all ages explore science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) careers and discover the wonders of computer science. “On our quest for a truly fan-inspired gaming experience, we’ll bring two lucky winners’ ideas into reality as the official “Space Jam: A New Legacy” arcade-style video game, available as the newest Perk for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in 2021. Since Xbox Game Pass was built on fan feedback, it’s only fitting that fan-inspired ideas will create this once-in-a-generation experience,” a Microsoft blog post. Now through December 30, fans aged 14 and older can submit game ideas at the official contest website. Infinix to launch Smart HD 2021 smartphone under Rs 6,000 price tag on December 16

Transsion group holdings group is going to launch its latest smartphone in the Indian market under its brand Infinix. The company is set to launch Infinix Smart HD 2021 on December 16 in the country. Just ahead of the official launch the pricing of the smartphone as well as its specifications have been revealed. As per Flipkart’s listing, the device is confirmed to launch with a price tag of Rs 5,999. The device is slated to feature an 8-megapixel sensor on the rear and an 8-megapixel selfie sensor on the front.
