According to the tech giant, “This pilot leveraged Microsoft Azure, a technology from Microsoft Research, content from Eros Now, and commerce capabilities from Novopay, a digital transaction partner and the commerce engine.” It can also help OTT provider’s stream media channels while ensuring end-to-end device connectivity, central content management, and security. “We’re committed to bringing together cloud technology, industry expertise, and partners to help our media and entertainment customers innovate and grow. Then, customers can connect to these hubs in order to securely download content to their mobile devices without internet connectivity. Microsoft further added that consumers in low connectivity regions could access Eros Now’s rich media content and pay for services in modes they prefer by using this system. The month-long pilot program tested the system from cloud to end consumer service. The tech company also added that it will expand the test to additional providers to make sure that the service reaches each and every corner of India. Emphasizing that differentiation has gone beyond content and technology to provide an edge over others in India’s cluttered online streaming industry, Ali Hussein, CEO, Eros Now, said, “Eros Now’s content catalogue, especially movies and original shows, attract massive regional audience base, and expanding the market by adopting pioneering technological innovation is the key for premium platform’s substantial growth.” “The association with Microsoft to utilize its cloud-enabled last-mile content delivery enables Eros Now to lead the space by tapping the underserved potential customer base in low bandwidth areas and continue catering to market demands,” added Hussein. With an aim to ensure technology access to the last mile, Microsoft is committed to inclusive growth in line to bring about a difference to the community. Here’s how Twitterati react after PUBG MOBILE terminates all service in India

After the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology blocked 118 mobile apps, which includes ‘PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik’ as well as ‘PUBG MOBILE LITE’ in September, owing to prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order, PUBG Corporation has terminated all service and access for users in the country starting October 30. However, PUBG fans in India took to Twitter to express their sentiments after the termination of this mobile gaming app. Meanwhile, there are some Twitter users who suggested other alternative mobile games that you could play. Let see what they shared:   In a post on its official Facebook page for Indian audience, PUBG Mobile had announced that Tencent Games, which was the authorized publishing and distribution partner of the game in the country, “will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property.” Thanking its fans for their support and love for PUBG MOBILE in India, the official post further added, “Protecting user data has always been a top priority and we have always complied with applicable data protection laws and regulations in India. All users’ gameplay information is processed in a transparent manner as disclosed in our privacy policy.” Earlier in September this year, PUBG Corporation had further asserted that it is committed to provide its unique battle royale experience to a global audience and hopes to continue engaging with its passionate player base in India as well. In addition to regular content updates, the company is delving deep to identify different ways to engage its community in India through various region-based activities, including esports and community events. However, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has revealed that it received many complaints from various sources including several reports about misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India. The compilation of these data and its mining as well as profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures. Furthermore, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs has also sent an exhaustive recommendation for blocking these malicious apps. Likewise, there have been similar bipartisan concerns, flagged by various public representatives, both outside and inside the Parliament of India. There has been a strong chorus in the public space to take strict action against Apps that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of the citizens of the country. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE landing page published on Samsung’s Brazilian portal

Recently Samsung launched the Fan Edition of its Samsung Galaxy S20 series. But soon the company is set to bring another Fan Edition of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. Just before the official announcement the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE has been briefly listed on the company’s Brazil website. The listing indicates that soon the company will make an official announcement about the new Galaxy Note 20 FE model which is going to be a toned-down variant of the company’s latest Note series just like the S20 series. Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series is the company’s top-notch premium flagship device and not accessible for its aggressive pricing. To make its premium devices more accessible the company has introduced “Fan Edition”. The S20 series has already got one and soon the company will launch Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE. However, until now no official announcement has been made by the South Korean giant. But now the device has been spotted on its Brazil website landing page. First spotted by SamMobile the portal includes a few unusual mentions of the upcoming device. It has the fine print that states the measurements of the screen that is 6.5 inches or a 6.3-inch diagonal when including the screen’s round corners.  In addition to this, the code details a page section in which Samsung highlights the benefits of Night Mode with a couple of side-by-side photos. To recall in a similar way week before the launch of the Galaxy S20 FE, the device was also spotted on the company’s website as well as leaks. The report also notes that the Galaxy S20 FE and Samsung may have made a typo, but it’s not the only one. The company has already launched Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite which is a toned-down variant of the standard model but the company has not yet released a lighter version of the Note 20 series. So this seems to be reasonable that the FE variant might join the Galaxy Note 20 series in the coming months.     For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Premium looks in not so expensive package

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE or ‘Fan Edition’ was launched in India a few weeks ago at a starting price of Rs 49,999. It comes with several premium features that we saw in Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ as well, and those were the reasons plenty of fans were really excited about. But what is the smartphone actually like when used? Also, should you buy it? Find out in our review of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE:

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE design and display

To begin with, we would say Samsung has kept the design of its Galaxy S20 FE smartphone like the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+. There is a striking resemblance, which makes it obvious that the three belong to the same family. The premium looking Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is dominated by a 6.5-inch screen on its front panel, but unlike the other two devices in the series, the display does not have curved edges. The frame that outlines the screen is metallic and the back panel of the handset is made up of polycarbonate that has matte texture. One of the good things about the design of the device is that it does not catch fingerprint smudges easily. So you don’t have to worry about carrying a micro-fibre cloth with yourself at all times. Samsung has launched the smartphone in five colour options including Cloud Red, Cloud Navy, Cloud Mint, Cloud Lavender and Cloud White. So, you have plenty of colour choices if you are planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5 The back panel of the smartphone houses the camera setup and the Samsung branding, too. On flipping over, you will see that the screen of the device has a selfie camera right in centre of the top and an in-display fingerprint sensor towards the bottom. The edges that outline the screen are very thin, which just add on to the good looks of the handset. The right edge of the smartphone has the Bixby and the Volume rocker keys. We should mention that what looks like the Power button is actually the Bixby button and you have to hold that and the lower volume rocker key to power off the smartphone. The SIM tray and the secondary microphone are on the top, while the bottom edge has the microphone, Type-C port, and the speaker grille. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has IP68 rating, which makes it resistant to water and dust. Coming to the 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display of the smartphone, it is one of the best aspects of the device. It comes with a refresh rate of 120Hz, which we think is a big plus. The images showcased on the display were very crisp and the colours were accurate and vibrant. The colours remain consistent at different viewing angles too. We watched Netflix shows on the device for hours and played games too, and it all appeared beautifully on the screen. There is Always-On mode available as well, but it must be enabled by the users. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2 In a nutshell, we would say that the design and the display of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE are definitely among its top features. The smartphone is stunning to look at and the display is an absolute delight to use.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE performance and cameras

Before we begin talking about the performance and the cameras of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, we will take a minute to tell you the rest of its specifications. The new offering by Samsung is powered by the 2.73GHz octa-core Exynos 990 processor and it comes with 8GB of RAM. We were hoping to see the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 here, but sadly this smartphone has not got it. The handset is available in two storage options – 128GB and 256GB, and for more storage, users can install a microSD card of up to 1TB. It houses a 4,500mAh battery and comes with support for wireless charging. Samsung ships a 15W charger along with the smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 4 Samsung Galaxy S20 FE runs Android 10 with company’s own One UI 2.5 baked on top. There are a number of features that you will find on the handset including integration with Windows 10, gestures for shortcuts, Gaming mode that comes with some optimization options, screen recorder, etc. However, there are some pre-loaded apps on the smartphone that you may consider uninstalling. Coming to the performance of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, there was obviously no lag in basic day to day tasks. As expected, the device excelled in such tasks and even when we tried to multi-task on the handset, we did not face any problem whatsoever. However, there were two things that we did find a little problematic. Firstly, the biometric lock on the smartphone has not very quick. Hopefully, Samsung will fix this with an update. And secondly, the handset started heating up after being used for a heavy-duty task for some time. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 3 For instance, once we used it to record a rather long video, but the device heated up so much that we had to stop after 15 minutes. This problem occurred even when we used the smartphone for gaming. Even though the graphics quality is amazing, and the high refresh rate of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE did help, the heating issue remained consistent. When we played Asphalt 9: Legends on the handset, it started heating up in less than 10 minutes. Because of this, we had to close the game very soon. Moving on, for a massive battery of 4,500mAh, the juice always ran out rather quickly. Usually, we get at least one and a half days of battery with even a 4,000mAh cell. But that wasn’t the case with Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, as somehow, its battery always ran out by the end of the day. We aren’t calling this bad, but only relatively not as great as other devices with the same kind of battery. Now, let’s talk about the cameras of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The device sports a 12MP primary camera with support for OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP 3X optical telephoto lens. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32MP sensor on the handset’s display.

Shot using the primary lens
There are several interesting features and modes in the camera app of the smartphone, so if you like experimenting with your snaps, you will find a lot of options. We clicked a lot of photos using Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The colours of the images taken with the primary camera were vibrant, and the images turned out to be very sharp. The quality of the pictures taken was very good and the lens managed to retain the details. We were very happy with the results that we got from it.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE image sample 3
Shot using the ultra-wide lens
The ultra-wide angle lens of the smartphone does change a few things, but overall, we would not call its performance unpleasant. The quality of the image and the colours did fall slightly, but then, it was better than most other wide-angle sensors we have used in the same bracket. The inconsistency is unavoidably present, but it wasn’t really too much. The 3X telephoto sensor did a great job. It captured some very minute details and the quality of the images remained good when we used it.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE image sample 2
Shot using the telephoto lens
The only real problem was night photography. The shots taken in lowly lit areas were slightly grainy, but using the Night Mode did help a bit. Coming to the selfie camera of the smartphone, we were mostly happy with the images that we took using it. The colours and the quality of the images taken were great most of the times. It is worth mentioning that the shots taken in lowly-lit areas using the selfie camera were much better than any of the cameras at the back.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is available at a starting price of Rs 49,999, and it comes with its own share of pros and cons. The design of the smartphone is beautiful, the display is excellent to use and the cameras work well too. These are definitely the pros. However, the average battery life and heating issue are certainly the cons. The performance of the biometric unlocks needs to be fixed too. If these are issues that are deal-breakers to you, then you can consider Samsung Galaxy S20+, which recently got a heavy price cut. Pros
  • Beautiful design
  • Vibrant display
  • Decent camera
Cons
  • Heating issue
  • Average battery life
  • Improvement needed in biometric locks

WhatsApp to soon roll out disappearing feature, spotted on the FAQ page

It’s been a year since the WhatsApp disappearing feature has been under testing. Soon this functionality will be rolled out to the masses as it has now been spotted on the FAQ page for the social media app. First spotted last year when it came in the news after suggested by beta testers. This feature will let you decide if and when you want the messages to be automatically deleted and for how long it stays in someone’s inbox. The disappearing messages feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo on the company’s website FAQ page that tells how the functionality works. Although this feature is not available for the users but this update indicated that soon it will be rolled out to the user’s devices. According to WhatsApp, the disappearing messages feature will automatically vanish a message after seven days whether it is being sent to an individual or a group chat. Actually, this feature is quite different from the feature that was spotted in beta testers last year letting them opt for the time duration of a day, a month, a year, or the option to disable this option. But as per the FAQ page, new messages sent in the individual or group chat will disappear after seven days. The most recent selection controls all messages in the chat. This setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat. In an individual chat, either user can turn disappearing messages on or off. In a group chat, only group admins can turn disappearing messages on or off. Moreover, the message will still vanish if the user doesn’t open WhatsApp in the seven-day period however the preview of the message might still be displayed in notifications until WhatsApp is opened. Also if the disappearing message is forwarded to other chats with this feature disable it won’t disappear in the forwarded chat. In addition to this if one has taken a backup before a message disappears, the disappearing message will be included in the backup but will disappear as soon as the chats are restored from the backup. WhatsApp also notes that the disappearing messages feature should only be used with trusted individuals. For example, it’s possible for someone to:
  • Forward or take a screenshot of a disappearing message and save it before it disappears.
  • Copy and save content from the disappearing message before it disappears.
  • Take a photo of a disappearing message with a camera or other device before it disappears.
Also, if you receive any photos or videos in WhatsApp will be automatically downloaded to your photos. In case the disappearing messages are turned on the media sent is the chat will go but if the auto-download is on the media will be saved on the phone.

How to enable or disable disappearing messages on your device?

  1. Open the WhatsApp chat.
  2. Tap the contact’s name.
  3. Tap Disappearing messages. Tap CONTINUE.
  4. Select ON.
  5. And to turn the feature off go on the contacts’ name
  6. Tap disappearing messages
  7. Continue and select off
Similarly, you can also disable this feature in group chats as well. Know how Apple iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max can help visually impaired users

0
In what is being regarded as an initiative to alert the visually impaired users while they move around, news is rife that the latest beta version of iOS 14.2 on Apple iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a feature that can help one detect how far the other person is from them. According to a TechCrunch report, this feature to help visually impaired will be introduced on iPhone 12 Pro as well as iPhone Pro Max running the iOS 14.2. Moreover, it’s ARKit, Apple’s augmented reality (AR) platform for iOS devices, which paves way for this interesting feature. ARKit 4 introduces a brand-new Depth API, creating a new way to access the detailed depth information gathered by the LiDAR Scanner on iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPad Pro. Location Anchors leverages the higher-resolution data in Apple Maps to place AR experiences at a specific point in the world in your iPhone and iPad apps. And support for face tracking extends to all devices with the Apple Neural Engine and a front-facing camera, so even more users can experience the joy of AR in photos and videos. In the Sample Code Occluding Virtual Content with Disable People, Apple revealed that “You might choose to disable people occlusion for performance reasons if, for example, no virtual content is present in the scene, or if the device has reached a serious or critical thermalState. To temporarily disable people occlusion, remove that option from your app’s frameSemantics. Then, rerun your session to effect the configuration change.” The tech giant further added that by default, virtual content covers anything in the camera feed. For example, when a person passes in front of a virtual object, the object is drawn on top of the person, which can break the illusion of the AR experience. And to cover your app’s virtual content with people that ARKit perceives in the camera feed, you enable people occlusion. Your app can then render a virtual object behind people who pass in front of the camera. ARKit accomplishes the occlusion by identifying regions in the camera feed where people reside, and preventing virtual content from drawing into that region’s pixels. Furthermore, it was revealed that AR content realistically passes behind and in front of people in the real world, making AR experiences more immersive while also enabling green screen-style effects in almost any environment. Depth estimation improves on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPad Pro in all apps built with ARKit, without any code changes. Arkit 4 also helps detect up to 100 images at a time and get an automatic estimate of the physical size of the object in the image. 3D object detection is more robust, as objects are better recognized in complex environments. And now, machine learning is used to detect planes in the environment even faster. AI-based teachers could soon be seen in classrooms

0
With the penetration of online education owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, artificial intelligence-based teachers could soon take the front stage. According to International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, researchers at the University of Central Florida’s Nicholson School of Communication and Media are now working to understand student perceptions of these AI-enabled teachers. What has been discovered up until now is that AI teaching assistant needs to be effective and easy to talk to. As per Jihyun Kim, an associate professor in the school and lead author of the study, engineers and computer scientists can design AI-teachers to easily integrate into the education experience by understanding how students relate to them. In order to use machine teachers effectively, Kim said, “We need to understand students’ perceptions toward machine teachers, their learning experiences with them and more. This line of research is needed to design effective machine teachers that can actually facilitate positive learning experiences.” The researchers further believe that AI teaching assistants can help ease a teacher’s workload, such as by responding to commonly asked questions by students. These questions, which often appear each semester and become numerous in online classes with hundreds of students, can become a large task for a teacher. The quick delivery of answers also helps students. With an aim to provide example, the researchers had created an AI teaching assistant named Jill Watson at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Jill was fed the thousands of questions and answers commonly asked in the researcher’s online class that he’d taught over the years. With some additional learning and tweaks, Jill was eventually able to answer the students’ commonly asked questions accurately without any human assistance as if she was one of the researcher’s human teaching assistants. The University of Central Florida’s researchers then asked respondents to read a news article about an AI-teaching assistant used in higher education, and then they surveyed the students’ perceptions of the technology. Kim added that it was discovered that that students were most likely to accept an AI teacher that was useful and was easy to communicate with points to the importance of having an effective AI-system. “I hope our research findings help us find an effective way to incorporate AI agents into education,” said Kim. It is believed that by adopting an AI agent as an assistant for a simple and repetitive task, teachers would be able to spend more time doing things such as meeting with students and developing teaching strategies that will help student learn and understand lessons easily.
