EMUI 10.1 features: Everything you should know

Recently the electronics giant recently launched its new smartphone series in the market despite the battling coronavirus situation. The company has launched Huawei P40 series along with Huawei Watch GT 2e and Sound X wireless speaker. The software on the new smartphone is worth noting as the company will be releasing EMUI 10.1 to its other devices also very soon.

According to the company, the EMUI 10.1 will roll out to over 30 Huawei smartphone models, including the HUAWEI Mate 30 Series, HUAWEI Mate X, HUAWEI P30 Series among others. However, there is no word when the company will start rolling out these devices.

Features of the EMUI 10.1

According to the company, EMUI 10.1 builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, introducing new features such as HUAWEI MeeTime and more Multi-screen Collaboration capabilities for better user experience. In the animation department, similar to how objects in motion gradually decelerate as they lose their momentum to friction, the scrolling animations now also slow down before coming to a natural stop. The acceleration model is based on human factors research, Swiping inwards from either side and pausing to bring out the sidebar. From the sidebar, the users can drag apps across the screen to initiate Multi-Window. Even Images, text and files can be dragged from one app to another. The floating window lets the users text messages without having to activate the full-screen app.

With the inclusion of Multi-Device Control Panel the users can now see every connected device in their proximity at a glance. This feature has made connecting one device to another much easier with just a tap on the corresponding button on the menu. It also recommends other nearby devices. For example,  when a user is listening to music on Huawei Music with a Huawei Sound X nearby, the Multi-Device Control Panel will suggest switching the audio output to the smart speaker to get better sound quality.

MeTime

The MeTime is the company’s latest all-scenario video calling app which would be quite helpful during the lockdown. It supports up to 1080p Full HD video calls between Huawei devices. To improve the video quality in low-light conditions it comes with brightness enhancements and beautification algorithms. It allows users to share their screen during a call with the other party and simultaneously mark-up the screen to collaborate with each other. Over that third party camera such as the Drift action camera can be wirelessly connected with a Huawei smartphone running EMUI 10.1 and be used as an external HUAWEI MeeTime camera for better video calling experience.

Huawei shares now support high-speed file transfer between two Huawei devices including smartphones, tablets and PC. All the devices support third-party products, for instance, European photo printing company Cewe has implemented Huawei Share in their photo printing kiosks, enabling users to easily print their photos wirelessly.

Just like Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, Huawei has also introduced its own voice assistant Celia that will arrive with the rollout of  EMUI 10.1. It works similar to the other voice assistance and works on the user’s voice command. For instance, to wake up say “Hey Celia”. It has support for object identification, media playback control, text messaging, face-to-face translation, calorie scanning and more. The Huawei’s voice assistant can speak English, French and Spanish and the company promises to bring other languages such as the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Mexico, Chile and Columbia in the first phase of the release.

With the help of a distributed file system, Gallery now accumulates all media saved across Huawei smartphones and tablets running EMUI 10.1 that are connected to the same Wi-Fi AP network and logged in under the same HUAWEI ID.

The video conferencing app Zoom has now become the most downloaded app in India, its founder is now a billionaire

Zoom has become the most downloaded Android app in India due to coronavirus lockdown leaving behind the uncrowned king WhatsApp. The chatting app has now slipped to the fifth position despite being widely used by the people during their stay at home.

To become the most-downloaded Android app in India the video conferencing app has outgrown many popular apps such as WhatsApp, TikTok as well as Instagram. Whatsapp too offers the feature of video calling but Zoom allows up to 50 participants at a single time to join a meeting whereas WhatsApp allows two people at a time. At the moment Zoom is the only app that allows more than 10 people to participate in a video conference call. This is the main logic behind the skyrocketing popularity of the app in India as well as across the globe. Until now the app has been downloaded by more than 50 million users via Google play store. As almost half of the world is right now working from home due to health concerns the number of downloads is growing.

Eric Yuan is the CEO of Zoom was pulled out of Cisco Systems where he was designated as the company’s Corporate VP of engineering. There was when he first dreamed up to develop his own video-conferencing platform as he agreed that many customers were not satisfied with the services.

video conferencing app Zoom

In the year 2011, he decided to set up his own new company Zoom. He took over 40 Cisco engineers along with him to start his own venture. In 2012 Zoom was finally launched as a video conferencing app. After the successful opening a few years later in 2018, the company’s revenues doubled with almost 1700 employees working for him. When the app was launched Google and Cisco were already running the market. Quite a few years later it then had  40 million individual participants using the app. During the initial years, the company offers free services to lure customers which it still offers but only basic services however the business clients have to pay for more features.

But now the Zoom is the most successful video conferencing app after the world was hit by coronavirus this is because it allows over 100 participants in a video call and a lot of other features giving stiff competition to Google, Microsoft and now WhatsApp also. During this critical situation when the whole world is struggling in the tech industry has been hit by the pandemic the most Zoom has been hugely benefited from the coronavirus while dethroning many popular apps.

As Houseparty and Zoom gains popularity, user’s accounts are being hacked

As the pandemic coronavirus spread is on a rise it has almost paralyzed the whole world as well as the tech industry. To combat the situation office goers have been asked to stay home due to health concerns. They are forced to stay away from their loved ones and people have also been working from home in order to maintain social distancing. So people have to resort to video conferencing apps in order to stay connected to their friends, family as well as the workplace. The use of several video-calling apps such as Zoom Cloud Meetings, Houseparty, and Marco Polo is also high and is being widely downloaded by Android and iOS users across the world.

Many people across the world and even in India have to take work from home as well as maintain their social life online amid coronavirus. Since the lockdown, the video conferencing apps are being widely downloaded to catch up with their friends as well as co-workers.

Now according to a recent report using these apps has resulted in their other social media accounts such as Instagram, Facebook, Netflix, Spotify being hacked. As the usage of these apps is on a rise the user’s privacy is also being compromised. House Party has now been brought to the dock to prove that all the user’s accounts are safe. The company has now taken to Twitter to assure its users that their accounts are safe and the app does not collect passwords from other sites. The Tweets read, “All Houseparty accounts are safe – the service is secure, has never been compromised, and doesn’t collect passwords for other sites.”

The companies deny such allegations and say there is no such evidence to prove that the user’s privacy is being compromised. “We’ve found no evidence to suggest a link between Houseparty and the compromises of other unrelated accounts,” a spokesperson stated. The company also recommends the users to choose strong passwords while creating an account on any platform. It says. “Use a unique password for each account, and use a password generator or password manager to keep track of passwords, rather than using passwords that are short and simple.”

Since the lockdown, the popularity of the Houseparty app has also increased. According to Cybersecurity researchers, the app can access the user’s microphone as well as camera and their contacts that also includes Facebook friends. So it is suggested to read all the terms and conditions before signing up for the services to understand what kind of data is being collected.

Zoom

Along with Houseparty, another popular app that is widely used is Zoom. in the past the video conferencing platform has also faced some of the privacy concerns. According to a report last week during the WFH Happy Hour a troll joined the group and, using the screen sharing feature, aired a pornographic clip to the call’s 40 participants. This is known as zoombombing has also occurred while a reading session for children stuck at home and began repeating the N-word several times.

The company in its statement said, “We have been deeply upset to hear about the incidents involving this type of attack. For those hosting large, public group meetings, we strongly encourage hosts to change their settings so that only the host can share their screen. For those hosting private meetings, password protections are on by default and we recommend that users keep those protections on to prevent uninvited users from joining. We also encourage users to report any incidents of this kind directly to our support so we can take appropriate action.”

iFixit shares teardown of Apple iPad Pro to delve deep into LiDAR Scanner

0

Apple recently lifted curtains off its most advanced iPad Pro that comes equipped with the A12Z Bionic chip along with ultra-wide camera, studio-quality mics and a breakthrough LiDAR scanner that delivers cutting-edge depth-sensing capabilities, opening up more pro workflows and supporting pro photo and video apps. Now, iFixit has shared a teardown of this device which comes at a price-point of Rs 89,900 to help has delve deep into LiDAR Scanner of iPad Pro.

While posting teardown video of iPad Pro on Youtube, iFixit stated, “We’re in lock down but that’s not going to stop us from tearing down the brand new 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It’s the iPad Apple says could be your next computer. With a new A12Z Bionic chip that Apple claims outperforms most laptop processors, and a new camera system that includes a LiDAR Scanner, there’s plenty of new tech for us to investigate here. iPads have always been a pain to take apart, but with so much time on our hands, what else are we going to do?”

In the teardown video, we could see that iFixit has first separated the display of Apple iPad Pro to further dissect the camera of the device in order to get a glimpse of the new LiDAR Scanner. Even, infrared footages of a cat is shown to further explain how Lidar scanner works and how it is less efficient than FaceID functions to explain that AR capabilities of new iPad Pro is exceptional as against 2018 iPad Pro.

The video also shown iFixit removing and fixing USB-C port, battery and screen, where it was seen that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro carries battery similar to its 2018 predecessor. According to iFixit, the 2020 iPad Pro scores 3 out of 10 as far as reparability is concerned.

However, Apple claims that the LiDAR Scanner enables capabilities never before possible on any mobile device. It measures the distance to surrounding objects up to 5 meters away, works both indoors and outdoors, and operates at the photon level at nano-second speeds. New depth frameworks in iPadOS combine depth points measured by the LiDAR Scanner, data from both cameras and motion sensors, and is enhanced by computer vision algorithms on the A12Z Bionic for a more detailed understanding of a scene.

Moreover, Apple further asserts the LiDAR Scanner improves the Measure app that now comes with Ruler View for more granular measurements and allows users to save a list of all measurements, complete with screenshots for future use.

Further details about the capabilities of LiDAR Scanner of 2020 iPad Pro will be revealed once the device goes on sale in India.

The Best in Home Workout Apps

Due to recent changes in the world, many of us have found ourselves stuck at home trying to stave off boredom. One way of doing this is to develop a home fitness routine that can help to build physical health, as well as improving morale and optimism in difficult times. Even at the best of times, the regular practice of a home workout with a minimal amount of apparatus can show us that signing up and travelling to a gym isn’t necessary. With an effective home workout app (many also use cbd balm for recovery), we can stay fit, healthy and ready for anything.

For UK businesses creating apps like these in such difficult times, remote IT assistance is a necessity. Finding a London IT consultancy that is reliable and effective will make a big difference in achieving app objectives.

Aaptiv

Rather than displaying a video that you need to watch, Aaptiv guides you through every activity with a suitable soundtrack. When getting started, users can set a goal, such as losing weight or keeping fit, and enter how much equipment is available to use. Workouts can be categorised into stretching or strength training etc., and each has a different difficulty level and duration. The app has more than 3,000 classes, and is priced at £13 per month after a free trial period.

Pear

Pear is another audio-based app that guides users through a wide selection of workouts without the need to keep looking at or adjusting the device. Intensity and fitness levels of each session can be adapted based on performance, and different coaches and packages can be selected. Pear also integrates into other fitness apps and works with a range of fitness devices and trackers. The app has a free plan, but more workouts are available with a premium plan for £5 per month.

Asana Rebel

A yoga app, Asana Rebel also provides tools for improving sleep and general lifestyle habits. This app has a vast array of yoga practices, meditation sessions and guided meditations. Workouts are categorised by focus, such as relieving tension or core work, and each provides a description to help find one that is suitable. The sessions are led by videos which are very well produced, and they are not solely aimed at women. A free plan is available, but for a wider range of classes, the premium service costs £9.89 per month.

Nike Training Club

It is easy to sign up to the Nike Training Club, and then submit personal information on fitness levels. Workout of different durations will then be suggested to meet your needs. Workouts can also be browsed by specific focus, such as activity or muscle group, or duration. The app provides videos, which are high in quality, and offer the option of working out to music. The app makes it easy to project videos on larger screens, but each lesson needs to be downloaded before use. Nike Training Club is completely free to use.

Les Mills

Les Mills is a New Zealand company that started a popular range of live group fitness classes. They also provide Les Mills On Demand, a library of different types of classes, including yoga, dance and boxing, that can be accessed from any location. There are more than 800 classes to take part in, varying in length from 15 to 55 minutes. Les Mills is available throughout the world and is priced at £9.95 per month in the UK. A free trial period is also available.

FitOn

With a wide range of exercise videos, FitOn is a suitable app for those that prefer visual guidance. Each video has a different objective and training methods, and featured classes include HIIT, pilates or dance, with different targets and durations. The videos also feature fitness training celebrities, such as Katie Dunlop from Love Sweat Fitness and Cassey Ho from Blogilates. FitOn was formerly a premium subscription service but is now entirely free.

Seven

From Perigee, Seven is a workout app that sets the target for users of doing a seven-minute workout every day for a period of seven months. It also includes a tracker through which users can monitor their progress. This is a great app for those that like to set objectives and follow a specific programme. Different users are able to connect through the app, and there are visual guides to help with each exercise. The app is free, but there is also a paid plan for £8.50 that gives more personalised training and access to more workouts.

Each of these apps offers a different mix of exercises, set of objectives and format of presentation. They will be differently suited to each individual, so users should be encouraged to take advantage of the trial periods for those that have subscription services. Trying out several fitness apps is a good idea before settling on the most suitable for you.

The Best Mobile Workstations 2020

It suddenly seems working from home is an attractive prospect for more people, or perhaps even the only option. This is how things currently stand, and we are left to make the most of the resources available to us. Thankfully, delivery is still possible in most cases, so an upgrade on your workstation could be the perfect way to set up your home office and stay safe.

Your business may well require some extra support during these difficult times. Some of this can be arranged remotely, such as consultancy or cloud services. For British businesses that are trying hard to keep things remote, a company offering IT support in London is on hand to meet your requirements within the new restrictions.

HP ZBook Studio x360 G5

This is an excellent 2-in-1 workstation that has a powerful 2.9GHz Intel processor, an Nvidia Quadro P1000 GPU, up to 32GB RAM and a 256GB SSD storage drive. This state-of-the-art laptop also has the ZBook Pen with 4,096 pressure sensitivity levels, and tilt controls with three buttons for customisation. Along with a 4K touch screen and a battery that lasts for more than 9 hours, this is a workstation that has it all.

Dell Precision 7730

The Precision 7730 from Dell has a 17.3-inch 4K, sRGB display that is one of the best among all workstations available. It also has an Intel Core i5 processor with speeds of 2.9GHz, and an Nvidia Quadro P5200 GPU with 16GB VRAM, which means it’s great for running graphically intense programmes. It is not the most portable of workstations in terms of size and weight, and the battery only extends to four hours, but it is otherwise fast and visually fantastic.

Lenovo ThinkPad P53

This is another powerful workstation that has a 2.8GHz Intel Xeon processor, up to 128GB RAM and an impressive 1TB of SSD storage. With the game-changing Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 GPU and the highly-rated ThinkPad keyboard, this is a serious workstation to be working on. However, the battery is not as long-lasting as other models, and the laptop is slightly heavy and relatively expensive.

MSI WS65

The company may be better known for gaming, but MSI also has a line of ‘WS’ workstations. The WS65 has a 17-inch screen, an Intel Core i9 processor and an Nvidia Quadro RTX 3000 GPU. It also has 32GB memory, 1TB in SSD storage and decent battery life. However, the build quality is not up to the usual standard of MSI, and there is only one Thunderbolt 3 port. It is also not the most affordable workstations.

Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro

Apple is a reliable producer of high-level workstations, and this model also comes with the option of an innovative touch bar to make tasks easier and faster. It has an Intel i9 processor with turbo-boosted speeds up to 5GHz and a Radeon Pro 560 graphics card. It also has a 10-hour battery life, 32GB RAM and an incredible 4TB of SSD storage. Add to this all of the superb features of the design and effortless functionality that MacBooks are known for, and you have a superlative workstation.

Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition

Razer Blade laptops are usually for gamers, but the 15 Studio Edition is a workstation aimed at creative professionals. For that extra aesthetic appeal, it boasts a powerful Nvidia Quadro graphics card and a flawless 4K display. It also has an Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. This is a laptop that puts on an impressive show, but the price also reflects this.

Asus ZenBook Pro 15

High-end laptops from Asus are usually in the gaming category, but the ZenBook Pro 15 is an exception to the rule. It is a capable workstation, with an eighth-generation Intel i9 CPU that can deliver turbo speeds up to 4.8GHz, 16GB RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. It doesn’t have an Nvidia Quadro GPU so it is not the best for running graphics software, but in all other areas, it excels. It also has a strong battery life and a range of ports.

Dell Precision 5530

Another business-class workstation, the Precision 5530 has a 15-inch screen and is also thin and light, making it a highly portable option. It has an Intel Xeon processor with speeds of 2.7GHz, 32GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. It also boasts an Nvidia Quadro P1000 GPU and a UHD display with touch capabilities and excellent colours and brightness. However, it only has one Thunderbolt 3 port.

While most of us are finding our living and working lives seriously restricted right now, it is also important for us to stay positive and be resourceful. An excellent workstation can be the best way to achieve more without needing to leave the house, so be sure to review carefully and make the right choice.

The Best Cases for the Galaxy S9

At this time during a health crisis, it is essential that we keep our phones clean and safeguarded from any chance of transferring bacteria. This should be no different under normal circumstances, but now we have extra reasons to avoid all risks. In most parts of the world, delivery is the best option for buying products like smartphone covers, but this can be easily managed. For those of us lucky enough to have a Galaxy S9 or S9+, a high-quality case is an excellent complement to the phone.

In uncertain times, we all need to plan and prepare for the ways our businesses could be affected. With the help of an IT consultancy located in London, UK businesses can develop a strategy to keep operations running remotely, or temporarily scaled back.

Speck Presidio Grip

This is a popular phone that sticks to its original design. On the back are diagonal rubber grooves on a hard plastic base, with a cutout for the camera. This gives the phone a reassuring grip (hence the name), along with shock-absorbing layers on the corners that give the phone extra protection. The case is available in black, grey, purple or blue.

Incipio Carnaby Esquire

With a name that suggests a touch of class, this is a high quality, eye-catching case. It has a smooth fabric exterior that breaks from the plastics that we are often used to, but it also offers enough protection to withstand a fall of 1.8 metres. This is both a solid and good-looking case that enables wireless charging and is available in blue or grey.

Skech Polo Book Case

For those that like to keep all their valuables together, a wallet case may be the best choice. This is made from polyurethane but has the style of a leather finish, and it can also hold cards and banknotes. A magnetic clasp holds everything in place, and this can also be used as a stand. The case is available in black.

Samsung Alcantara Case

Made from luxurious Alcantara material that is light, soft and strong, and is a mix of polyester and polyurethane. This material is comfortable and with a good grip, though it can pick up dust. There is good access to ports, camera and fingerprint sensor, and the corners have extra protection. However, the case is otherwise light and doesn’t offer a great deal of protection. It is available in black, blue and red.

Griffin Survivor Strong

This is a slim, light and simple case, yet it is also sturdy and protective. The back is smooth to avoid collecting dust, with a simple line design. It is grippable, and it has an excellent drop protection of up to 2.1 metres. The case is available in black, grey/white, grey/pink or transparent.

Patchworks Level ITG

This is a simple phone case that has a solid, dual-layer design for extra protection. The buttons work well with the phone and give a reassuring click sound. Though much of the case is very smooth, there is a side bump for extra grip. The case is available in either black or red.

Caseology Parallax Series

A stylish case with a range of textures, this case also offers a good amount of protection. It has a dual-layer design with button covers and cutouts for camera and fingerprint sensor. There is a slope into the fingerprint sensor that is handy, and bumper and raised lips for extra protection. The case is also available in a variety of colour combinations.

X-Doria Defence Shield

For those that are serious about protecting their phones, the Defence Shield from x-Doria has an aluminium frame to keep the phone safe from damage. It is also made of polycarbonate and soft rubber to maximise the defences. It has an attractive military-style design and is available in black, red or even an iridescent finish that will draw attention to your mobile.

Catalyst Impact Protection

Catalyst has been creating quality iPhone cases for some time, but this is the first case for a Samsung phone. It is made of rubber and graspable, which means dropping it can be avoided. However, if it does happen to slip from your hand, the case can withstand a fall of an impressive 3 metres. The case is available in a range of colour combinations.

Supcase Unicorn Beetle

Another case for heavy-duty protection, the Unicorn Beetle takes a rugged, industrial design. It has dual-layer coverage as well as a built-in screen protector. It has ridged sides for better grip and comes with a holster and belt clip. It has comfortable button covers and port covers, and it has drop protection of 1.2 metres. It is available in black, blue, pink or white.

There is no end of cases for the Galaxy S9, so consumers are truly spoiled for choice. Though it may be better to see them physically in a store, right now delivery is the safest option. Let’s hope things improve in the near future.

As the Coronavirus outbreak continues to take a devastating toll on lives and communities across the globe, tech giant Google has implemented strict measures to safeguard the Play Store by curbing malicious activities. However, Check Point’s researchers have found a new malware family ‘Tekya’ that was operating in 56 applications and downloaded almost 1 million times worldwide.

Tekya Malware, which aims at committing mobile ad fraud, imitates the user’s actions to click ads and banners from agencies like Google’s AdMob, AppLovin’, Facebook, and Unity, the team at Check Point Research has revealed.

The Check Point’s researchers have identified that 24 of the infected apps ranged from puzzles to racing games for children while other were utility apps like cooking apps, calculators, downloaders, translators, and so on.

The research states that the Tekya malware family was not detected by VirusTotal and Google Play Protect. This is how it made way in 56 applications that could have been downloaded through Google Play store.

Under this attack by Tekya malware, legitimate popular applications were cloned to gain an audience, where in it mostly targeted children’s games. Now the respite is that these infected applications have all been removed from Google Play.

However, Android users need to be more vigilant while downloading app via Google Play as the platform can still host malicious apps. Mind you! Check Point’s researchers have stated, “There are nearly 3 million apps available from the store, with hundreds of new apps being uploaded daily – making it difficult to check that every single app is safe. Thus, users cannot rely on Google Play’s security measures alone to ensure their devices are protected.”

Meanwhile, Google is also identifying vulnerabilities and protecting its users from phishing. Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) works to counter targeted and government-backed hacking against Google and the people who use its products.

“Upon reviewing phishing attempts since the beginning of this year, we’ve seen a rising number of attackers, including those from Iran and North Korea, impersonating news outlets or journalists. For example, attackers impersonate a journalist to seed false stories with other reporters to spread disinformation. In other cases, attackers will send several benign emails to build a rapport with a journalist or foreign policy expert before sending a malicious attachment in a follow up email. Government-backed attackers regularly target foreign policy experts for their research, access to the organizations they work with, and connection to fellow researchers or policymakers for subsequent attacks,” said Toni Gidwani, Security Engineering Manager at Google’s Threat Analysis Group.

Asserting that Google’s Threat Analyst Group will continue to identify bad actors and share relevant information with others in the industry, the search-engine giant said that its goal is to bring awareness to these issues to protect the users and fight bad actors to prevent future attacks.

Google rolling out a new account switcher and gestures show up on the Play Store app

Last year the software technology giant at I/O announced a new account switcher. Now Google is rolling out revamped account switcher to its apps to manage multiple accounts.

From now onwards the profile picture will show up on the top right corner beside the search bar. On tapping it will prompt open into a full menu that will allow the users to view all the accounts they have signed-in as well as their account settings. The voice search icon has been moved to the left. According to 9To5Google, the microphone is hidden when you first open the app to make way for the Google Play animation.

According to the report, “That navigation prevents the app from being fully Material as settings and account information is only accessible here. The next redesign hopefully moves all these items to the account switcher menu, like in the Home app and Google Maps.”

The update comes with version 19.3 and 19.4 of the Play Store. To enable it, you need to visit Google Play Store’s App info page, then go to “Storage and cache,” and tap on “Clear storage.” Now open the app and then close it again from the system Recents/multitasking menu. After this step, the new account switcher will appear.

Whereas the navigation drawer size has also been reduced. At the moment the new design has reached select users and is expected to be available to more devices very soon.

Several leaks have revealed that the upcoming handset will be known as the OnePlus 8 Lite. However, now news is rife that the device could be called OnePlus Z.

According to popular tipster Max Weinbach, “I was told that @oneplus is revamping the OnePlus X under a new series…The source referred to it as “OnePlus Z” and said the hardware matched the previous OnePlus 8 Lite render.” This means the OnePlus Z will be a modified model of OnePlus X that lived for a short while.

Earlier leaks have revealed that OnePlus 8 Lite or as the new name suggests OnePlus Z smartphone could come fitted with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset along with what likely can be a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a screen refreshing rate of 90Hz. Moving on to camera front, we could likely see a 48MP primary lens, a 16MP secondary lens along with a 12MP selfie snapper fitted at the back of the device. As far as price is concerned, popular OnePlus tipster Ishan Agrawal has hinted that the OnePlus 8 Lite smartphone could be available at price-point as low as £400 (approx. Rs 37,500) in the UK.

Tipster Roland Quandt has tweeted what he claims to be OnePlus 8 official renders revealing that OnePlus Z or the 8 Lite could come in “Crazy new “Glow” color, fancy new Green color, standard Black looking pretty nice, too.” We are yet to find out when this new device will see the light of the day amid the lockdown the world is witnessing due to the Coronavirus outbreak. However, if news reports are to be believed the device might be launched next month in China.

Meanwhile, OnePlus has set up a special team to provide uninterrupted after-sales service to its customers by adjusting existing policies and operations to best maintain continuity and support. COVID-19: WhatsApp reduces video status limit to 15 seconds in India

0

Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, there has been a surge in WhatsApp usage across India in order to help people stay connected while they are practising social distancing. Now news is rife that WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for India in order to bring down video status limit from 30 seconds to 15 seconds under an initiative to reduce the traffic on the server infrastructures.

A tweet by WABetaInfo has revealed WhatsApp has put a bar on time limit for videos posted under the ‘Status’ section of the Facebook-owned instant messaging app. According to the tweet by WABetaInfo, “You can no longer send videos to WhatsApp Status if they are longer than 16 seconds: only videos having a duration of 15 seconds will be allowed. This is happening in India and it’s probably an initiative to reduce the traffic on the server infrastructures.”

However, it further added that some users might be still able to post videos having a longer duration as it will take a little while for the change to be introduced pan-India. While there is a cap on the duration of videos to be uploaded under WhatApp status section, there is no limit of the number of videos a user can upload as of now. Mind you, we are yet to receive an official announcement about WhatsApp status video limit.

In these uncertain times, reliable communication is critical owing to which WhatsApp has almost doubled its server capacity and continue to see strong reliability as people place more voice and video calls around the world. Besides this, WhatsApp also introduced an information hub with tips on how healthcare workers, educators and local businesses can stay connected using this instant-messaging app. It has also donated $1 million to the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) to expand the presence of local fact-checkers on WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is helping World Health Organization (WHO) to spread its Health Alert to the users of this instant-messaging app by answering common questions about COVID-19. It provides timely, reliable information about how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as well as travel advice, coronavirus myth debunking and more.

All one needs to do to contact the WHO Health Alert, save the number +41 79 893 1892 in your phone contacts and then text the word ‘Hi’ in a WhatsApp message to get started. The service has been rolled out in English but will be available in all six United Nations languages (English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) soon.
